1. Amazon
Amazon has a strong presence in three big industries. It operates the largest e-commerce marketplace in North America, Western Europe, and the Middle East. It is the third largest ad tech company in the world. And Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the largest cloud services provider as measured by infrastructure and platform services spending.
Leadership in cloud computing is particularly important because it means AWS is ideally positioned to benefit as demand for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure increases. CEO Andy Jassy recently told analysts, "AWS is where the preponderance of companies' data and workloads reside, and part of why most companies want to run AI on AWS."
AWS has doubled down on the opportunity by developing custom AI accelerators for training and inference, which provide customers with an alternative to Nvidia GPUs. The company has also positioned itself as the primary cloud provider for Anthropic, an AI startup valued at $350 billion. Finally, AWS has introduced new cloud services such as Bedrock for generative AI application development.
Elsewhere, Amazon is using AI to make its retail business more efficient. It has designed more than 1,000 generative AI applications to improve inventory placement, demand forecasting, last-mile delivery, and customer service. It has also developed an AI model that lets robots navigate warehouses faster, and it's designing another model that will let human workers engage robots in natural language.
Wall Street expects Amazon's earnings to increase at 18% annually over the next three years. That makes the current valuation of 35 times earnings look relatively reasonable, especially because the company beat the consensus earnings estimate by an average of 25% over the past eight quarters. I agree with Jim Cramer. Patient investors should feel comfortable buying a position in Amazon today.
2. Uber Technologies
Uber operates not only the largest ride-sharing platform in the world, but also one of the largest food delivery platforms. Integrating those services into a common mobile app lets Uber efficiently acquire new customers by cross-promoting its mobility services to delivery users and its delivery services to mobility users.
While not a traditional AI stock, Uber uses machine learning to efficiently match and route drivers, provide customer support, and personalize advertising. In addition, leadership in ride-sharing makes Uber the perfect partner for autonomous vehicle (AV) companies that want to scale a robotaxi businesses.
Uber already works with 20 AV companies. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi says, "Uber can deliver the lowest operational costs for our AV partners because we are leaps and bounds ahead on every aspect of the go-to-market capabilities that are critical for commercialization." Some of the most consequential partnerships are:
Alphabet's Waymo offers robotaxi rides through Uber in Phoenix; Austin, Texas;, and Atlanta.
Avride offers robotaxi rides through Uber in Dallas.
WeRide offers robotaxi rides through Uber in the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi, Dubai) and Saudi Arabia (Riyadh). The companies plan to add about 15 more cities in the next five years.
Nvidia provides hardware, sensors, and software through its Hyperion platform that Uber partners, including Stellantis, use to build AVs. Uber aims to deploy 100,000 robotaxis within a few years.
Straits Research estimates that the ride-sharing market will grow at 21% annually through 2033, and Grand View Research estimates the robotaxi market will grow at 99% annually over the same period. Uber should be a major beneficiary in both cases. Morgan Stanley analysts think the company will account for 22% of U.S. robotaxi trips by 2032, which would put it in third place behind Waymo and Tesla.
Wall Street expects Uber's earnings to increase at 26% annually over the next three years. That makes the current valuation of 10 times earnings look cheap, especially when Uber beat the consensus earnings estimate in six of the past eight quarters. Investors with a time horizon of at least three years should buy a position today.

Jim Cramer Says Buy 2 AI Stocks Up 190% and 230% Since Early 2023

SoundHound AI (NASDAQ: SOUN), a developer of audio and speech recognition tools, grew rapidly in recent years as more companies launched their own AI-powered voice services. Its namesake app can identify songs from just a few seconds of recorded audio or a few hummed bars. Still, it generates most of its revenue from Houndify -- a developer platform for creating customized voice recognition apps that aren't tethered to big tech companies.
SoundHound already serves automakers like Stellantis, quick-serve restaurants like Chipotle, and credit card giants like Mastercard. Over the past two years, it acquired the AI restaurant services provider SYNQ3, the online food ordering platform Allset, the conversational AI company Amelia, and the customer service AI company Interactions to increase its exposure to the restaurant and AI chatbot industries.

From 2020 to 2024, SoundHound's revenue grew at a CAGR of 60%. From 2024 to 2027, analysts expect its revenue to grow at a 49% CAGR to $283 million, with adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) turning positive in the final year.
That makes SoundHound one of the market's fastest-growing AI stocks, but it's also valued accordingly. With a market capitalization of $4.18 billion, it trades at 18 times its 2026 sales. It's also increasingly dependent on acquisitions to offset its slowing organic growth, and its gross margins are declining. It's expected to remain unprofitable under generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) through 2027. It's also more than doubled its outstanding share count since it went public via a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) in April 2022. That dilution will likely continue for the foreseeable future.
In other words, SoundHound hasn't yet proven its business model is sustainable. So instead of chasing this volatile stock in this choppy market, it might be smarter to simply stick with Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) as a safer way to profit from the growth of the voice AI market.
Why is Apple a safer and smarter bet on the voice AI market?
Apple might not initially seem like a voice AI company, since it generates most of its revenue from its hardware products. In fiscal 2025 (which ended last September), it generated 50% of its revenue from the iPhone, 8% from the Mac, and 7% from the iPad. Another 9% came from its wearables, home devices, and accessories. The remaining 26% came from its services -- including its App Store, iCloud, Apple TV, and other subscription-based services.
Apple also doesn't actively monetize Siri, the voice assistant, which it launched in 2011. Instead, it acts as the voice-activated gatekeeper to the company's sprawling services -- which weave through its iPhones, iPads, Macs, Watches, Apple TVs, and other devices.
Unlike other cloud-based voice AI services, Siri can process many of its commands locally on its devices. That feature speeds up its voice queries, keeps users' data private, and reduces Apple's cloud infrastructure costs. Apple also develops its own "Neural Engine" chips to process those tasks more efficiently, and it's been gradually upgrading Siri's own large language model (LLM) to improve its conversational AI capabilities.
Siri doesn't need to make money for Apple. It merely keeps its customers locked into its software ecosystem through its devices -- which are closed off in a "walled garden" that makes it difficult to switch to Android or Windows-powered devices.
By locking its customers into that ecosystem, it ensures it can continue selling more iPhones, Macs, and iPads while expanding into new markets like connected cars and mixed-reality devices. It will also complement its rollout of more gesture-based and eye-tracking services.
From fiscal 2021 to fiscal 2025, Apple's revenue and earnings per share (EPS) grew at CAGRs of 3% and 7%, respectively. Those growth rates might seem anemic compared to SoundHound's, but Apple's prisoner-taking business model is more sustainable. It also bought back 12% of its shares over the past five years.
From fiscal 2025 to fiscal 2028, Wall Street expects its revenue and EPS to grow at CAGRs of 7% and 11%, respectively, driven by the next iPhone upgrade cycle, the growth of its services ecosystem, and the increasing stickiness of its Siri-powered "Apple Intelligence" features. Its stock still looks reasonably valued at 28 times next year's earnings, and it should deliver more reliable gains than SoundHound AI and other smaller AI plays for the foreseeable future.

Forget SoundHound AI: This Walled‑Garden Superpower Is the Safer, Smarter Way to Profit From Voice AI

SoundHound AI (NASDAQ: SOUN) bills its technology as "the conversational AI that speaks for itself." The company's voice AI technology has spurred many others to talk about SoundHound, though. The fact that SoundHound's stock has been a seven-bagger over the last three years underscores the point.
However, I think there's another company with voice AI technology that's a better long-term bet than SoundHound AI. It's a tech king and a cash cow with a market cap of over $3.6 trillion. I'm referring to Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL).

Two different strategies
You might think that evaluating Apple versus SoundHound AI is like comparing (no pun intended) apples and oranges. And you'd be right – to an extent.
Apple and SoundHound AI are more like ships passing in the night than direct competitors. Apple's forte is consumer technology and services, with a massive ecosystem built around its ubiquitous iPhone. SoundHound focuses on a B2B approach, securing customers across various industries that can benefit from voice AI technology.
However, if you don't believe that Apple is a major player in voice AI, just ask Siri. Or, better yet, wait until next month to ask Siri, when Apple is reportedly planning to unveil an upgraded version of its personal AI assistant, powered by Alphabet's (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL) powerful Google Gemini 3.0 large language model (LLM).
The most obvious battleground for Apple and SoundHound AI is in the automotive market. SoundHound has deals with carmakers including Stellantis (NYSE: STLA) and Hyundai. But Apple boasts a much longer list of auto companies that integrate with its CarPlay. The company's next-generation CarPlay Ultra, which interfaces with a vehicle's dashboard instruments, makes Apple an even more direct competitor to SoundHound.
Apple also poses another, less visible threat to SoundHound. While SoundHound's technology is used in restaurant drive-through ordering systems, many restaurants allow ordering via mobile apps. Instead of being the "voice of the drive-through" like SoundHound, Apple can position itself as the meal-ordering agent in consumers' pockets and purses.
The bank versus the burn
Any discussion of the merits of Apple versus SoundHound AI as investing choices has to delve into the two companies' financials. As you might expect, Apple comes out on top in most areas.
Apple generated revenue of $102.5 billion in its latest reported quarter. SoundHound's $42 million in revenue in the third quarter of 2025 was only a tiny fraction of Apple's total.
SoundHound AI posted a net loss in Q3 of $109.3 million based on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Apple reported a profit in its latest quarter of $14.7 billion.
Apple's cash position stands at roughly $54.7 billion. SoundHound's cash and cash equivalents of $269 million are almost pocket change for the giant iPhone maker.
However, SoundHound AI comes out on top in two financial metrics. First, its year-over-year revenue growth of 68% in Q3 is much higher than Apple's latest growth rate of around 8%. Second, SoundHound has no debt, while Apple's debt totals $112.4 billion.
Apple is the better bet
I don't view SoundHound AI stock as a horrible pick. The company's technology and growth are impressive. However, I believe that Apple is the better bet for long-term investors.
Apple's next-gen CarPlay Ultra could gain momentum with automakers. While SoundHound's in-car accuracy gives the company an advantage now, that could change quickly as Apple improves its AI capabilities.
Importantly, Apple has more high-growth opportunities than SoundHound does. Although SoundHound talks about its agentic AI portfolio, Apple is likely to be the bigger winner in the rapidly growing AI agent market. I also predict that Apple will profit tremendously in the smart glasses market.
I would say that SoundHound AI is like the hare in Aesop's famous fable, while Apple is the tortoise. That isn't a good analogy, though. Over the last 12 months, Apple's shares have risen while SoundHound's shares have fallen. Apple isn't just the better bet for long-term investors; it's been the better choice for short-term investors, too.

Forget SoundHound AI: This Tech King Is the Real Voice-and-AI Cash Cow Worth Betting On

Rivian Automotive, Inc. RIVN has begun producing validation units of its much-anticipated R2 electric SUV at its Normal, IL, plant. Per CEO RJ Scaringe, the company remains on schedule to begin customer deliveries in the first half of the year.
The R2 is intended to be Rivian’s “Model 3 moment,” a more affordable, higher-volume vehicle designed to take the brand beyond its premium R1T and R1S lineup, per Electrek. To accelerate the R2 launch, Rivian put its Georgia factory plans on hold and shifted its focus to ramping production at the existing Normal facility, keeping close attention on timing.
The Normal plant has been upgraded with new assembly lines dedicated to the R2 platform, including a 1.1 million square-foot expansion that was built and equipped at record speed to support the planned 2026 launch.
Validation builds represent the final step before vehicles become ready for sale. Unlike hand-built prototypes, these units are produced on the actual factory line using production tooling and are used for certification, crash tests and EPA range verification.
Rivian previously expected R2 deliveries to start in the first half of 2026. With validation units rolling out in January, the company appears well-positioned to meet that goal, potentially beginning deliveries in late Q1 or early Q2. When it was first revealed, Rivian projected that the R2 would start at roughly $45,000.
Rivian will also return to SXSW in 2026 as a headline sponsor for the second straight year, with a strong focus on showcasing the R2. The festival’s blend of technology, culture, and creativity makes it a prime venue to introduce Rivian’s midsize SUV to a wider audience. As production nears, the high-profile SXSW appearance gives Rivian a chance to build momentum and increase familiarity with the R2 ahead of its launch, per RivianTrackr. General Motors Company GM started delivering the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt to dealerships in early January, signaling the comeback of the well-known electric hatchback that had been phased out in 2023. The reintroduced Bolt largely preserves its familiar look while incorporating several notable enhancements. Per General Motors, this updated version will be available for a limited time. The vehicle was originally discontinued after a prolonged recall because it was based on General Motors’ first-generation EV platform rather than the newer Ultium battery architecture. With a starting price of $28,595, Bolt is currently the lowest-priced electric vehicle in the United States.
Stellantis N.V. STLA unveiled the all-new 2026 Jeep Cherokee in August, reintroducing the model with a balance of signature styling, performance capability and improved efficiency. The well-equipped base 2026 Cherokee is priced from $36,995, while the Laredo trim starts at $39,995. Per Stellantis, both the entry-level and Laredo variants are expected to reach dealerships in early 2026. The production is set at Stellantis’ Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico.
Rivian’s Price Performance, Valuation and Estimates
Rivian has underperformed the Zacks Automotive-Domestic industry in the past six months. RIVN shares have gained 21.7% compared with the industry’s growth of 33.6%.

It already serves automakers like Stellantis, restaurants like Chipotle, and credit card giants like Mastercard, and it should attract more customers who want to develop their own voice recognition services without sharing their data with larger tech companies.
From 2025 to 2027, analysts expect SoundHound's revenue to grow at a 30% CAGR, with adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) turning positive in the final year. With an enterprise value of $4.5 billion, it might seem pricey at 20 times this year's sales. However, its early mover's advantage in the growing voice recognition services market should justify that higher valuation. Over the next decade, it should continue to expand and evolve as it acquires more companies and rolls out more agentic AI tools.
Lemonade
Lemonade sells homeowners, renters, term life, pet, and auto insurance policies. It's popular with younger and first-time insurance customers because it simplifies the byzantine buying process with a streamlined AI-powered app.
Using AI chatbots instead of human representatives can quickly onboard new customers and process claims in a few seconds. From the end of 2020 to the third quarter of 2025, its customer base nearly tripled from 1.00 million to 2.87 million.
From 2025 to 2027, analysts expect Lemonade's revenue and adjusted EBITDA to grow at a CAGR of 44%, with adjusted EBITDA turning positive in the final year. The expansion of its newer pet and auto insurance businesses, its overseas growth (especially in Europe), and its rollout of more AI features should drive those gains.
With an enterprise value of $6.2 billion, Lemonade still looks reasonably valued at five times this year's sales. However, it could command a much higher valuation if it scales up its business and pulls millions of customers away from traditional insurance companies.
CoreWeave
CoreWeave was once an Ethereum miner, but it abandoned that business model after the 2018 cryptocurrency crash. It subsequently repurposed its mining GPUs to remotely process machine learning and AI tasks, acquired more than 250,000 high-end data center GPUs from Nvidia, and expanded its business from three data centers at the end of 2022 to 33 data centers today.
CoreWeave claims its dedicated cloud-based GPUs can process AI tasks 35 times faster and 80% more cost-effectively than other cloud infrastructure platforms. Those strengths make it a popular choice for companies which don't want to expand their own infrastructure to support their latest AI applications. As it locks in more AI customers -- including Microsoft and OpenAI -- analysts expect its revenue and adjusted EBITDA to grow at a CAGR of 95% and 109%, respectively, from 2025 to 2027.
CoreWeave is growing like a weed, yet it has an enterprise value of only $87.9 billion -- which equates to 7x this year's sales and 11x adjusted EBITDA. The high costs of opening new data centers are likely compressing its near-term valuations, but it could have plenty of room to grow over the long term as the cloud and AI markets expand.

Archer Aviation faced bearish pressures last year
Archer Aviation stock saw big swings across 2025's trading. While the company's share price spiked at various points in the year, big gains were typically wiped out by pullbacks shortly after. Joby Aviation's faster commercialization progress put a damper on enthusiasm for Archer stock -- and the dynamic was evident in divergent performances for the stocks. While Archer got hit with a double-digit valuation pullback, Joby Aviation's share price climbed roughly 62% last year.
In May, Culper Research published a short report on Archer Aviation stock and said that the eVTOL specialist had been misleading investors about testing timelines and flight milestones. Grizzly Research also published a short report on Archer later in the year and said that the company's projections had been misleading and that there weren't many signs that manufacturing was ramping up.
Archer stock fell in July in response to fears that Stellantis could ease up on its investments in the company. Stellantis's announcement that it was shutting down its hydrogen-fuel-cell development project raised concerns that it could cut back on other growth bets. The next month, Archer published its Q2 results and reported a net loss of $206 million -- up from a loss of $106.9 million in the prior-year quarter.
Archer Aviation stock got hit with another post-earnings pullback in November with the publication of its third-quarter report. The business posted a net loss of $129.9 million in the third quarter -- higher than expected and up from a loss of $115.3 million in the prior-year period. The company paired the Q3 report with news that it had sold $650 million worth of new stock and that it had acquired Hawthorne airport in a $126 million all-cash purchase, which raised additional concerns about share dilution and spending.
Archer Aviation stock has been surging this year
Following last year's sell-off, Archer Aviation stock has been regaining ground in 2026. As of this writing, the company's share price has risen 17.8% in the year's trading.
Defense-tech stocks have been hot this year, and Archer Aviation's share price is benefiting from the trend. Archer has a partnership with Anduril to develop hybrid-propulsion VTOL aircraft for use by the U.S. military. While the pathway to achieving commercial certification from the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) for its Midnight eVTOLs remains uncertain, interest in potential defense applications for its aircraft tech could help the stock continue to bounce back from last year's sell-offs.

Why Archer Aviation Stock Sank 22.9% Last Year but Is Surging in 2026

Ford Motor Company F is expanding its Bronco SUV lineup with the launch of the new 2027 Ford Bronco RTR, a performance-focused off-road variant. The Bronco RTR is the eighth addition to the Bronco SUV lineup. The new model is positioned between the standard Bronco trims and the high-output Bronco Raptor, targeting off-road enthusiasts who want enhanced capability without stepping up to the Raptor’s extreme performance and price point.
While the Bronco RTR retains the familiar design language of the traditional Bronco, it features design tweaks and upgraded off-road components, many of which are inspired by the Raptor.
The Bronco RTR is powered by a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing approximately 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Although this setup falls short of the Bronco Raptor’s 3.0-liter V6 output, which delivers 418 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque, it remains well-suited for off-road performance while maintaining everyday usability.
The introduction of the new RTR variant underscores Ford’s strategy to broaden its rugged SUV portfolio while appealing to buyers who find the Raptor’s pricing out of their reach.
While Ford has not disclosed the exact pricing, the Bronco RTR is likely to sit between the $51,475 Bronco Heritage Edition and roughly $80,000 Bronco Raptor, while the base Bronco is priced around $40,000.
This launch also builds on Ford’s ongoing partnership with RTR Vehicles, which began with the Mustang RTR performance model and now extends to the Bronco lineup. The collaboration reflects Ford’s focus on blending performance branding with off-road capability.
Ford confirmed that the order books for the Bronco RTR will open in October 2026, with sales beginning in January 2027.

Can the 2027 Ford Bronco RTR Attract Off-Road Enthusiasts?

The 2026 NACTOY (North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year) awards were announced yesterday. An independent jury of 50 automotive journalists determined the winners from the three finalists in each category (car, truck and utility vehicle). For the past three years, electric vehicles (EVs) won at least one category as the auto industry prepared for a big shift to EVs. But this year, none of the winners were electric.
Italian American automaker Stellantis’ STLA Dodge Chargerwas named as North American Car of the Year, beating the other two finalists — Honda Prelude and the refreshed Nissan Sentra. The Charger secured a clear victory, earning 195 points in final voting, well ahead of the Prelude’s 152 points and the Sentra’s 143 points.
Judges praised the Charger for its bold retro-futuristic design, strong performance and wide range of powertrain options. The model stands out by offering both gasoline and electric versions. The gas-powered Charger delivers up to 550 horsepower, with the high-output SIXPACK version using a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine that can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in under four seconds. Meanwhile, the electric version pushes output as high as 670 horsepower.
Stellantis’ Dodge Charger is redefining what a modern muscle car can be. By combining a six-cylinder engine, hatchback design and extreme performance, it pushes beyond traditional muscle car limits.
U.S. legacy automaker Ford F took the Truck of the Year honor for its Ford Maverick Logo, beating the other two finalists —RAM 1500 HEMI and RAM 2500. The Lobo won by a wide margin, scoring 277 points. Ram 1500 HEMI followed with 114 points, while the Ram 2500 earned 99 points.
This marked Ford’s sixth consecutive NACTOY win in the truck category. Ford took home the North America Truck of the Year award for Ranger, Super-Duty, F-150 Lightning, Maverick and F-150 in 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021, respectively.

South Korea’s Hyundai Palisade won the Utility Vehicle of the Year award, beating Lucid Group’s LCID Gravity and Nissan Motor’s NSANY Leaf. The Palisade earned 270 points, far ahead of the Leaf’s 135 and Gravity’s 85.
Hyundai’s flagship SUV impressed judges with its refreshed 2026 design, which improved style, size, and power. The Palisade is a great family vehicle, offering three rows of seating, a comfortable interior, and advanced safety features. Starting under $40,000, it now also offers a hybrid powertrain, combining value, technology, and efficiency.The 2026 Palisade brings several notable upgrades, including a striking new style, a hoodless digital display, and the XRT Pro off-road trim with all-terrain tires for adventurous driving.
While the Lucid Gravity, Lucid’s first SUV, impressed with its luxurious interior, agile rear-wheel steering, and rapid 0-60 mph sprint in 3.4 seconds, its high price limited its appeal compared to the Palisade. The Nissan Leaf, although an affordable and compact crossover, couldn’t match the Palisade’s strong edge in modern features, style, and overall appeal, even after its own updates.

U.S. Auto Industry 2025 Review and What to Expect from 2026
Despite high vehicle prices, rising financing costs and tariff pressure, the U.S. auto industry had a surprisingly strong 2025. Total sales rose about 2% to roughly 16.2 million units, marking the best year since 2019. Early-year demand, especially for trucks and SUVs, fueled growth, though the market slowed in the fourth quarter as electric vehicle (EV) demand cooled following the expiration of federal tax credits.
Car buyers faced record prices, paying an average of $50,326 for a new vehicle in December 2025, per Kelley Blue Book. That marked a 0.8% increase from November's $49,814 average, highlighting the continuing pressure on affordability in the U.S. auto market.
Against this backdrop, here's a closer look at how the U.S. auto industry and major auto giants performed in 2025.

Top Automakers by Sales
General Motors held its position as the top-selling automaker in the United States, delivering 2.85 million vehicles in 2025, up 5.5% from 2024. Gains came across Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC and Buick. The company extended its leadership in full-size pickups for the sixth straight year, with sales reaching 940,000 units. General Motors also ranked as the nation's second-largest EV seller.
Toyota Motor was the second largest seller in the country, delivering 2,518,071 vehicles, an 8% rise from 2024. Electrified models accounted for 47% of the sales. The Toyota brand delivered 2,147,811 units, while Lexus had a record year with 370,260 sales, driven by popular models like the RAV4 and Camry.
Ford was the third best seller, with total annual sales reaching 2.2 million vehicles, giving the company a 13.2% market share. Ford's F-Series remained America's best-selling truck in 2025, with sales topping 828,832 units, up 8.3%.

EV Trends & Tesla's Struggle
U.S. EV sales had a rollercoaster year. Early demand spiked ahead of the expiring federal tax credit, driving a record third quarter but the fourth quarter saw a sharp slowdown as incentives ended and affordability concerns grew.
Tesla faced its second consecutive annual delivery decline. For the full year, deliveries totaled roughly 1.64 million vehicles (comprising 1.58 million units of Model 3/Y and 50,850 other models). That denotes a decline from nearly 1.8 million vehicles sold in 2024. Falling incentives, competition from Chinese EV makers like BYD, and an aging fleet contributed to the full-year decline.
Legacy automakers adapted to cooling EV demand. Companies like Ford, General Motors and Stellantis made aggressive EV commitments during the Biden years. But with consumer demand cooling and incentives fading, they decided to "right-size" their EV plans to match real demand. These companies are now shifting resources toward higher-margin vehicles and proven revenue drivers.
As such, GM is set to book $7.6 billion in EV-related charges for 2025, while Ford is expecting $19.5 billion in special charges, with $5.5 billion impacting cash flows through 2026–27. Stellantis has delayed its all-electric RAM pickup and the Ramcharger EREV to late 2026, pivoting toward hybrids and a balanced lineup. STLA acknowledged that strategic changes will lead to meaningful one-time costs, but hasn't disclosed the exact amount.
Autonomous Vehicles
Companies are accelerating in autonomous mobility. Waymo, Zoox, and Tesla expanded robotaxi services, signaling that self-driving technology is becoming a core focus.
U.S. Auto Industry Outlook - 2026
The U.S. auto industry enters 2026 with caution. While easing inflation and expected interest rate cuts should support buying power to some extent, a slower labor market and weaker job growth may affect consumer confidence, making families more hesitant to spend on big-ticket items like cars.
Government policy will remain a major factor. Tariffs, changing fuel economy rules and potential tax policy shifts will create a constantly changing environment. The renegotiation of the USMCA trade deal in 2026 will be especially important for automakers. Meanwhile, the EV market will enter a new phase. Incentives have expired, and many off-lease EVs will flow into the used market, which may reshape pricing and demand.
Artificial intelligence will continue to transform the industry. Companies are making investments in AI to improve efficiency. Early adopters will gain an advantage, but rising competition may also intensify pressure. The big question is whether AI spending will truly create value or pull resources away from critical traditional R&D.
Per Cox Automotive, new-vehicle sales are projected to fall to about 15.8 million units in 2026, down 2.4% from 2025.
So, while 2026 may not match the strength of 2025, the industry remains focused on strategic positioning, disciplined execution and preparation for the next major phase of transformation.

Archer Aviation (NYSE: ACHR), a developer of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, went public through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) in September 2021. Its stock started trading at $9.90 per share, but now trades at about $8.
Like many other SPAC-backed companies, Archer overpromised and underdelivered. In a pre-merger presentation, it claimed it could produce ten Midnight eVTOLs in 2024, 250 eVTOLs in 2025, 500 eVTOLs in 2026, and 650 eVTOLs in 2027. As it scaled up its business, it predicted its revenue would soar from $42 million in 2024 to $3.4 billion in 2027.

Yet in 2024, Archer delivered only a single test aircraft to the U.S. Air Force, generated no meaningful revenue, and incurred a net loss of $537 million. As of last August, the company had only manufactured two commercial eVTOLs and had six eVTOLs in its production line. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has not yet cleared its commercial flights in the U.S.
All of those issues seem to make Archer a risky investment in this wobbly market. However, could its stock stabilize and head higher over the next 12 months as new catalysts emerge?
What are Archer's plans for the future?
Archer's Midnight eVTOL carries a single pilot and four passengers, travels up to 100 miles without recharging, and flies at a maximum speed of 150 miles per hour. It expects these drone-like aircraft to replace traditional helicopters, since they're more environmentally friendly and easier to land in dense urban areas. Several major companies -- including United Airlines, Future Flight Global, Soracle (a joint venture between Japan Airlines and Sumitomo), Ethiopian Airlines, and Abu Dhabi Aviation -- already plan to use Archer's aircraft in their upcoming short-range air taxi services.
As of late 2025, Archer had an indicative backlog of $6 billion for approximately 1,200 aircraft. Therefore, the company still has a path toward generating the billions of dollars in annual revenue it claimed it could achieve before its public debut. Still, it needs to ramp up its production and get its aircraft approved for commercial flights before this can happen.
Archer is relying on its top investor, Stellantis (NYSE: STLA), to serve as its contract manufacturer for mass-producing its eVTOLs. However, that partnership is advancing at a slower-than-expected rate. At the end of 2024, Archer predicted it would eventually produce two aircraft per month by the end of 2025, with a goal of producing 650 aircraft annually by 2030. Archer's most recent production numbers indicate it could miss that ambitious target.
Archer's first commercial flights also need to clear numerous regulatory hurdles. Its first air taxi flights in Abu Dhabi, which were scheduled to launch in late 2025, were deferred to 2026 as the U.A.E. regulators continued to evaluate the safety of its eVTOLs.
In the U.S., it needs to obtain four separate FAA certifications: a maintenance and repair certificate, an air carrier and operator certificate, a type certification (which includes its final airworthiness criteria, compliance, and flight tests), and a production certification. As of this writing, it has only obtained the maintenance and repair certificate and the air carrier and operator certificate. It still needs to clear the compliance and flight tests to receive its type certification, and its production certification remains in progress.
It's unclear when Archer will complete the entire approval process, but some analysts don't expect it to receive its final type certification until 2028. At the same time, it needs to stay ahead of formidable competitors like Joby Aviation (NYSE: JOBY) -- which has already achieved higher speeds and longer ranges than Archer with its S4 eVTOLs.
Where will Archer's stock be in a year?
Analysts expect Archer to finally generate $32 million in revenue in 2026 as it delivers its first commercial eVTOLs. They expect its revenue to soar to $305 million in 2027 as it ramps up its production with Stellantis, but we should take that optimistic outlook with a grain of salt.
On the bottom line, they expect its net loss to widen to $718 million in 2026 and narrow slightly to $682 million in 2027. Archer still had $1.6 billion in cash, cash equivalents, and short-term investments at the end of the third quarter of 2025; however, it will likely need to dilute its investors with additional stock offerings and increased stock-based compensation expenses to stay afloat.
With a market capitalization of $6.5 billion, Archer is already valued at 21 times its projected 2027 sales. That high price-to-sales ratio should limit its upside potential over the next year unless it ramps up its production or launches its first commercial flights in Abu Dhabi.
