Joby Aviation (NYSE: JOBY) and Archer Aviation (NYSE: ACHR) are both early movers in the electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft market. These aircraft are greener and easier to land in crowded urban areas than helicopters, but the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) hasn't fully approved their first commercial flights.
Joby and Archer both went public through mergers with special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs) in 2021, but both stocks trade below their opening prices. Without any commercial flights, Joby and Archer were speculative stocks trading at high valuations -- so their luster faded as rising interest rates drove investors toward more conservative investments.

But according to Eve Air Mobility's Global Market Outlook, there could be 30,000 eVTOLs in the air carrying three billion passengers globally by 2045. So could one of these unloved eVTOL stocks still be a great play on that secular trend?
The similarities and differences between Joby and Archer
Joby's S4 and Archer's Midnight both carry a single passenger and four passengers. The S4 can travel up to 150 miles on a single charge at a maximum speed of 200 miles per hour. The Midnight can travel up to 100 miles with a maximum speed of 150 miles per hour.
The S4 travels faster and farther than the Midnight because it uses single-tilt rotor propellers to lift and cruise. The Midnight is heavier because it uses separate propellers to lift and cruise. Joby is also developing a hydrogen-powered version of its eVTOL, but Archer isn't.
Joby and Archer are both working with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), and major investors and customers back both companies. Joby's backers include Toyota, Delta Air Lines, and Uber. Archer's backers include Stellantis, United Airlines, and Abu Dhabi Aviation. Both companies plan to initially launch their aircraft in the U.S. and the UAE.
Toyota and Stellantis plan to help Joby and Archer manufacture their commercial eVTOLs. Delta and United will add Joby and Archer's air taxi flights to their airline tickets as last-mile "airport to home" services. Joby will integrate its own flights directly into Uber's app, while Archer plans to launch its own first-party air taxi service rather than work with other companies.
Which company has a brighter future?
Joby and Archer both need to complete the FAA's lengthy, multi-stage approval process before launching their first commercial flights in the United States. Those full approvals probably won't happen until late 2026 or 2027. The Middle East conflicts could also disrupt or delay their first commercial flights in the UAE. That's why both stocks have been under pressure this year.
But from 2025 to 2028, analysts still expect Joby's revenue to grow from $53 million to $458 million. They also expect it to narrow its net loss from $930 million to $722 million. With a market cap of $9.2 billion, it trades at 20 times its 2028 sales. Most of its revenue comes from its acquisition of the air taxi services company Blade Urban Mobility, which closed last August.
From 2025 to 2028, analysts expect Archer's revenue to surge from less than $1 million in 2025 to $482 million in 2028. However, they expect its net loss to widen from $618 million to $868 million. With a market cap of $4.0 billion, it trades at just eight times its 2028 sales.
Joby trades at a premium to Archer because it's expanding into a vertically integrated "transportation as a service" business that manufactures, owns, and operates its own air taxi network. Archer is still primarily an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), heavily dependent on middlemen, as it sells most of its aircraft to third-party fleets. Joby also has more liquidity than Archer, and its supply chain is much tighter because it uses more first-party components.
The better buy: Joby Aviation
Archer might initially seem like a better value, but Joby's advantages make it a better long-term investment. While Archer might be aiming to become the next Boeing of the eVTOL market, Joby wants to become the next Tesla -- a more focused company that takes over the market with its first-party aircraft and air taxi services.

eVTOL Stock Face-Off: Is Joby Aviation or Archer Aviation the Better Buy Right Now?

Ford Motor Company’s F primary aluminum supplier in New York has resumed operations at its hot mill following two fires last year that shut down the facility and contributed to billions of dollars in lost production for Ford’s highly profitable F-Series pickup lineup.
The Novelis facility in Oswego, NY, is the largest U.S.-based supplier of automotive-grade aluminum sheet. A fire on Sept. 16, 2025, halted the rolling line of Novelis that produced aluminum sheets, while a second fire on Nov. 20, 2025, caused further damage to both the rolling equipment and parts of the plant. The aluminum sheets manufactured there are used to produce vehicle components such as hoods, fenders and other exterior body panels.
The disruption had a significant impact on Ford, which relies on aluminum body construction for its F-150 pickup, the best-selling vehicle in the United States for decades. The resulting aluminum shortage reduced the automaker’s truck inventory levels at dealerships ahead of the typically strong summer selling season.
Per Ford spokesperson Dave Tovar, the restart marks an important step forward, but it also highlights the challenges many automotive suppliers continue to face. Ford remains focused on working closely with suppliers to strengthen long-term supply chain resilience.
Per Ford CEO Jim Farley, the company currently has a solid supply of finished aluminum. F-Series inventory stands at roughly a 50-day supply nationwide, which is somewhat below Ford’s preferred level for trucks, but production is ramping up steadily, and the company expects a strong performance in the second half of the year.
Ford uses lightweight aluminum in its truck bodies to help improve fuel efficiency. The Novelis fires forced Ford to temporarily suspend production of the all-electric F-150 Lightning at its Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn due to insufficient aluminum supplies. The company also briefly halted production of the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs at its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. In addition, the shortage constrained the output of the gasoline-powered F-150, which is assembled at Ford’s Dearborn Truck Plant and Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri.
Overall, Ford estimates it lost approximately 100,000 units of truck production in 2025 because of the supply disruption. To recover from last year’s inventory shortfall, the automaker plans to build an additional 50,000 trucks this year, targeting total production of about 150,000 units.
Per Ford, the aluminum shortage and manufacturing disruptions caused by the fires are projected to have a financial impact of between $1.5 billion and $2 billion through 2026. How did the Novelis Outage Impact Its Other Customers?
Stellantis N.V. STLA was also affected by the Novelis fire, leading the automaker to temporarily suspend production of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer at its Warren, MI, assembly plant. The Wagoneer lineup relies extensively on aluminum components supplied by Novelis, including key body panels such as the hood and doors. As a result of the supply disruption, production at the Warren facility was halted on Oct. 13, 2025, and remained idle until operations resumed during the week of Nov. 3, 2025.
General Motors Company GM experienced only limited disruption from the Novelis fire, largely due to the supply chain risk management practices it developed after the 2011 tsunami and Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan. That event exposed weaknesses in GM’s business continuity planning and prompted the company to adopt a more strategic approach to supply chain resilience. As a result, GM was better positioned to identify potential disruptions, assess supplier exposure and respond more effectively to supply chain challenges, helping it avoid the significant production impacts seen at some of its peers.
F’s Price Performance, Valuation and Estimates
Ford has outperformed the Zacks Automotive-Domestic industry in the last six months. Its shares have gained 3.9% against the industry’s decline of 4.9%.

From a valuation perspective, F appears undervalued. Going by its price/sales ratio, the company is trading at a forward sales multiple of 0.33, lower than the industry’s 3.48.

Can Novelis' Hot Mill Restart Ease Ford's Supply Challenges?

I've been pretty skeptical of SoundHound AI (NASDAQ: SOUN). Compared with heavy hitters in artificial intelligence (AI) such as Anthropic and OpenAI, the AI-powered voice chatbot company has a small niche and a tiny cash balance. And yet it somehow still has a $3 billion market cap, although that's fallen more than 60% from its 2025 high.
Over the last few quarters, though, I've started to rethink my bearish position on SoundHound. The company has been executing well, and against all odds, it seems to be making headway. Here's why I think SoundHound might be worth a second look for AI investors.

The bear case
SoundHound is essentially combining an old technology (voice recognition) with a very new one (AI).
Phone voice recognition systems predate Apple's Siri and Amazon's Alexa, which debuted in 2010 and 2014, respectively. SoundHound's major innovation was developing voice recognition technology that performs better in environments with heavy background noise, making it a favorite of drive-thrus and in-car audio systems.
The company opened a new market by expanding its agentic AI restaurant ordering systems from drive-thru windows to phone systems, which are used today by major chains like White Castle, Chipotle, Five Guys, Panda Express, and Applebee's. It also provides in-car voice systems for Kia, Hyundai, Lucid, and all of Stellantis' brands, including Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep. And in Q1, it signed a global agreement with "a prominent Japanese manufacturer" for its vehicle voice assistant.
But although SoundHound has a solid, growing presence in these niches, they're comparatively easy niches for an AI chatbot to fill. To really unlock major growth, SoundHound needs to expand into general customer service applications, where there are many more potential customers, but also more potential for error. Plus, on a customer service phone line, SoundHound's background noise-reducing technology isn't as important, putting it at greater risk from competitors.
The bull case
SoundHound's apparent lack of a proprietary moat worried me at first. But just because a technology is widely used doesn't mean a deep-pocketed competitor will necessarily deploy it in this industry to clear the field.
It's no surprise that SoundHound has plenty of competition in this space. An effective agentic AI customer service voice agent platform would have several advantages over human agents beyond cost-effectiveness, including the ability to answer all calls quickly regardless of call volume, 24/7 global availability, multilingual support, and near-instant data retrieval. But it's a very fragmented market with lots of small start-ups operating alongside major players, including Amazon Quick for AWS and Salesforce's Agentforce.
In Q1, SoundHound grew its revenue by 52% year over year to $44.2 million and signed new or expanded deals with at least two dozen customers. It's also been very acquisitive and just agreed to purchase enterprise conversational AI provider LivePerson in April.
If SoundHound can continue to grow its revenue and consolidate market share through new contracts and acquisitions at this pace, it could very easily become a long-term winner. Smart investors should keep an eye on SoundHound.

Why I'm Rethinking My Bearish Outlook on SoundHound AI: The Stock Could Be a Long-Term Winner

Palantir's revenue growth rate has accelerated for 11 consecutive quarters.
The company raised its full-year 2026 guidance to 71% revenue growth.
Even after the pullback, the stock trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of more than 140.
Shares of Palantir (NASDAQ: PLTR) slid about 7% over the past five trading days as of this writing, adding to what has become a painful stretch for the artificial intelligence (AI) data and analytics platform specialist. The stock now trades more than 35% below its 52-week high of $207.52 and is down about 26% year to date.
The decline stands in sharp contrast to the business itself, which is growing faster than it ever has as a public company. And that contrast raises a question some investors have likely been waiting years to ask: After such a steep fall, is this finally a good time for long-term AI investors to buy one of the market's most debated growth stocks?

Even after the pullback, however, the valuation numbers investors must grapple with are still big. Palantir commands a market capitalization of about $306 billion -- against trailing-12-month revenue of just $5.2 billion.
Here's a closer look at the company's momentum and whether the growth stock is a buy, sell, or hold.
Growth that keeps accelerating
Palantir's first-quarter revenue rose 85% year over year to $1.63 billion -- the company's highest growth rate since it went public in 2020. U.S. revenue, which now accounts for 79% of the total, more than doubled, rising 104%. And U.S. commercial revenue soared 133% to $595 million, helped by new deals with Airbus, Bain, GE Aerospace, and Stellantis during the quarter.
"Our revenue growth rate accelerated for the eleventh consecutive quarter, highlighting the durability of the growth of our business at scale," said chief financial officer David Glazer in the company's first-quarterearnings call
And profitability looks exceptional. First-quarter net income more than quadrupled year over year to $871 million. And adjusted free cash flow for the period came in at $925 million.
"Our free cash flow this quarter is larger than our revenue a year ago in the same quarter. Think about that," said CEO Alex Karp later in the call.
Looking ahead, management expects the momentum to continue. Alongside the report in early May, Palantir raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to $7.65 billion to $7.662 billion, implying 71% growth this year.
But the price is another story
So, why not buy the dip? The answer comes down to valuation -- and Palantir's remains extreme, even after the drop.
The stock's price-to-earnings ratio is more than 140 as of this writing. Additionally, Palantir's market capitalization is about 40 times the revenue management expects the company to generate in 2026, and about 70 times the midpoint of its adjusted free cash flow guidance for the year.
A valuation like this leaves little margin for disappointment.
And there are ways Palantir could disappoint. Growth is increasingly concentrated in the U.S., with international commercial revenue rising just 26% year over year in Q1. Further, parts of the company's international government business face uncertainty. The U.K. government, for instance, said this week it's reviewing whether to extend or end Palantir's $441 million contract with the country's National Health Service when the deal's initial term expires in early 2027.
There's also simple math to consider. Maintaining anything close to 71% growth becomes more difficult each year as the revenue base expands. And if growth merely decelerates, a stock priced for years of extraordinary expansion could get rerated lower -- something shareholders have already experienced this year, with shares falling even as the business accelerated.
To be clear, the business arguably deserves its reputation. Excessive demand seems to be Palantir's most significant problem at the moment (if we can even call that a problem). Karp told listeners on theearnings callthat the company's biggest problem in the U.S. is that it "just cannot meet demand."
But price matters. Even with the stock down more than 35% from its high, Palantir shares arguably still look overvalued. This may be a meaningful pullback, but I don't think it's big enough to make shares attractive.

Palantir Stock Has Fallen More Than 35% From Its High. Is This the Pullback Long-Term AI Investors Have Been Waiting For?

Most investors love a bargain. Finding sound long-term stocks trading on the cheap can be a great way to juice your portfolio gains. But stocks typically trade cheaply for a reason, and we've all heard this warning: "Don't catch a falling knife."
However, Ferrari (NYSE: RACE) is trading far below its historical valuations in part due to uncertainty surrounding its first full-electric vehicle (EV). And Stellantis (NYSE: STLA) has plunged for the past three years amid waning market share and a lack of compelling products.

The good news is Ferrari still has plenty to offer investors, and Stellantis has a $70 billion turnaround plan. Let's take a closer look.
Ferrari is rarely "cheap"
Let's get one thing out of the way immediately: Ferrari is a unicorn of an automotive stock. There simply aren't many companies that can replicate the brand power or racing heritage -- or even the technology that drips from its racing team to its retail supercar business.
Ferrari is unique in far more ways than just its brand and heritage, including the fact that the company keeps a lid on the volume of sales to ensure exclusivity remains a cornerstone for the automaker. The strict exclusivity -- remember, it's a lengthy and complicated process to even purchase a Ferrari -- helps drive pricing power and ensures there's never a surplus of available Ferrari vehicles.
That exclusivity, pricing power, and control over sales volume all help the automaker drive margins sky-high compared to mainstream automakers. In an industry known for razor-thin margins and for being capital-intensive, Ferrari shatters the stereotype, as you can see below.
Another bonus with Ferrari is that its consumer base is simply in a different world than mainstream automakers' target market. As such, Ferrari's ultra-wealthy consumer base is largely immune to mainstream economic downturns, which makes the stock and business more resilient during recessions.
For these reasons, among many more, Ferrari rarely trades at a cheap valuation. But the stock is at an interesting point in time, when last year's guidance through 2030 disappointed analysts -- we should keep in mind Ferrari has previously low-balled guidance only to outshine it -- and the recently unveiled electric vehicle, named Luce, made investors anxious with its design departure from traditional Ferrari designs. For those reasons, Ferrari is trading far below its usual valuation levels, as you can see below, giving investors a rare opportunity to scoop up shares more cheaply.
A turnaround plan with teeth
Stellantis CEO, Antonio Filosa, hasn't taken long to make an impression on investors. On May 21, Stellantis launched a $70 billion five-year turnaround plan, with a new identity focusing 70% of that global investment on a handful of core brands: Jeep, Ram, Peugeot, Fiat, and Pro One (commercial business).
There are many components to the massive turnaround plan, but one of the simplest might be the most effective and noticeable. As many following the auto industry understand, there's an affordability crisis as the average price of a new vehicle hovers around $50,000. It's a part of the market you could certainly argue is vastly underserved at the moment, and Stellantis sees opportunity.
More specifically, Stellantis plans to launch nine vehicles priced less than $40,000 in North America by the end of this decade. Not only that, but two of those will check in under $30,000. While these lower average transaction prices (ATPs) likely come with slimmer margins, Stellantis also has a strong need to regain lost market share, improve sales volume, and increase its production capacity utilization.
On the back of these new launches, Stellantis is targeting adjusted operating income margins of 8% to 10% in North America by the end of 2030. It also targets growing sales volume in the region by 35%, and revenue by 25%, over the same time frame. Stellantis expects production capacity utilization to reach 80% by the end of the decade; focusing on affordability will be a huge boost to all those efforts.
Should investors buy now?
While Stellantis and Ferrari are both automakers, they're on very different ends of the spectrum -- or really, Ferrari is in a world of its own. As both stocks have declined recently, Stellantis more steeply than Ferrari, there's an opportunity to scoop up shares of perhaps one of the largest turnarounds in recent automotive history in Stellantis, and/or shares of Ferrari at a rare discount due to uncertainty around its first full-electric vehicle.
Both are compelling opportunities and warrant being on investors' watch list for further research.

Joby and Archer are on a shared federal fast-track
Unlike traditional helicopters, eVTOL aircraft use distributed electric propulsion, making them significantly quieter while drastically reducing carbon emissions, so they are better suited for urban transportation. Joby and Archer are frontrunners in this budding eVTOL industry and are working through the FAA's rigorous, multistage certification process, a crucial step toward launching commercial operations.
These companies have also been selected as two partners with the FAA's eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP), which aims to accelerate the deployment of eVTOL aircraft by allowing selected companies to conduct real-world operations in the National Airspace System.
Joby aims to be a vertically integrated, aerial ride-sharing service
While Joby and Archer share the same overarching goal, they differ sharply in their business models and manufacturing approaches. Joby is pursuing a vertically integrated, direct-to-consumer approach and plans to own and operate its own branded air taxi network, with partnerships with Uber and Delta Air Lines.
Last year, Joby acquired Blade Air Mobility's passenger division, giving it access to Blade's 12 urban terminals and passenger lounges and providing it with an experienced customer transportation business that will allow it to hit the ground running when it begins commercial operations. The company acquired Blade's platform and customer base and will transition the company from helicopters to eVTOLs when it finally launches commercially.
On top of that, Joby designs, engineers, and manufactures its aircraft components in-house. It has a facility in Marina, California and another 700,000 square-foot facility in Dayton, Ohio, which together can produce up to 500 eVTOL aircraft per year.
The company works closely with Toyota, which is a major investor and manufacturing consultant, to optimize in-house production. By focusing on in-house production, Joby owns the intellectual property and manufacturing process, which could enable higher profit margins once it's up and running.
Archer Aviation is taking a different business approach
Archer Aviation is taking a different approach to manufacturing, leveraging partner companies to achieve an asset-light business model. The company has partnered with Stellantis, Archer's exclusive manufacturer, which provides both funding and supply chain expertise to help Archer mass produce its Midnight eVTOL aircraft.
Stellantis helped Archer build out its high-volume manufacturing facility in Covington, Georgia where Archer aims to produce 650 aircraft annually. This model approach helps Archer build quickly, provides support from Stellantis, and saves it the upfront costs of developing its own parts and components in-house.
While Joby aims to be an end-to-end service provider in the eVTOL industry, Archer is taking a dual approach: building its own proprietary ride-share services and selling its Midnight aircraft directly to third-party fleet operators. The company has amassed a $6 billion backlog. By selling to third parties, Archer can generate revenue immediately while its ride-share services business scales up.
Which eVTOL stock is a better buy today?
Joby and Archer are both early-stage start-ups in a young, undeveloped industry that they are both looking to get off the ground. For investors, they remain higher-risk stocks as they work through the FAA certification stages and hope to start commercial operations within the next year, while continuing to burn cash in the process.

It's introducing a long list of more affordable models, doubling down on powerful V-8 engines while backing off some of its electric vehicle (EV) ambitions, and working to reclaim lost market share and profitability.
A crucial part of the overall turnaround plan involves returning its North America market to a profit engine while funneling more investment into Jeep and Ram to lead the charge. If Stellantis' turnaround gains traction, investors are well positioned to enjoy a rising stock price over the next few years -- but is it a buy now?

Big plans for Ram
Stellantis has shed roughly half its value over the past three years alone, and for investors to be rewarded with a turnaround and soaring stock price, Ram needs to gain traction in North America. The good news is Stellantis is sending reinforcements in the form of three new pickups in the coming years, with hopes to drive Ram to its top-selling brand by the end of the decade.
Ram's first challenge has Ford Motor Company's Maverick in its crosshairs. The Ram compact pickup will be based on the Ram Rampage sold in South America and is targeting a 2028 launch. The compact Ram won't be alone, either, as a planned midsize truck built in Ohio is also expected to hit the roads in 2028. Stellantis had to dig through storage to bring back the Scrambler nameplate that hasn't been used since the 1980s, and will use that for a Jeep Wrangler-based pickup. Stellantis also plans to use the Ramcharger name for a new full-size Ram SUV.
All in all, Stellantis is working to grow Ram's North America sales 60% higher by the end of 2030, which would place it ahead of Jeep as the biggest brand in the region with around 825,000 sales. Taking it a step further, Stellantis also aims to make Ram "No. 2 in trucks" by the end of the decade, which would be a tall task considering the history of sales dominance between Ford and General Motors' full-size trucks. Remember that Ram had been comfortably in third place in the U.S. pickup sales race but dropped to an embarrassing fifth in 2025.
"Our plan for North America is very simple: Get the product right," said Tim Kuniskis, who heads the company's American brands, according to Automotive News. "Right for the market, right for the brand positioning, right for segment expansion, right for growth and right to recover our customer loyalty."
Ram will be a key part of Stellantis' North America turnaround, but the automaker is investing about $25 billion in Ram, Jeep, Chrysler, and Dodge, giving consumers 11 new vehicles by the end of the decade. Management anticipates those brands growing North America volume by 35%, returning Stellantis to 8% to 10% margins in the region after losing $2 billion in North America last year, and becoming a profit engine for the company's global turnaround.
What it all means
Investors likely understand by now that SUVs and trucks haul a huge chunk of automakers' bottom line, especially Detroit automakers. While it costs only marginally more to produce a truck than a passenger car, the former can command far higher prices and lucrative margins. For Stellantis' turnaround to really gain traction, investors need Ram's new launches to regain lost market share and bolster the bottom line.
For investors hoping to make a buck on a Stellantis turnaround over the next five years, Ram is one of the most crucial pieces of the puzzle. Stellantis may have the most upside in the auto industry through the end of the decade, but investors are taking on sizable risk as the automaker has a long list of problems to fix.

Stellantis Is Counting on This Brand to Soar in North America -- Huge Profits on the Line

Intel stock has turned in a stellar performance on the market over the past year, rising by an incredible 488% as of this writing, as demand for the company's chips has started to improve due to their deployment in artificial intelligence (AI) data centers.
Intel missed the AI chip boom initially, as its central processing units (CPUs) weren't suited for training large language models (LLMs) that required a lot of computational horsepower. Nvidia ran away with the AI chip market thanks to its graphics cards, which can perform massive parallel calculations, making them ideal for training AI models.

But as AI compute moves from the training to the inference phase to unlock the technology's productivity gains, demand for energy-efficient CPUs and custom AI processors has begun to rise. That's because the inference phase doesn't require as much computing power as training AI models. As a result, Intel is now witnessing healthy demand for its CPUs and application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs).
However, the phenomenal rally in Intel stock means that investors will have to pay a whopping 904 times earnings to buy it right now. But they can buy shares of Qualcomm (NASDAQ: QCOM) at a significantly cheaper valuation, and doing so could turn out to be a smart move as this sleeping chip giant seems like a better play on AI inference than Intel.
Let's look at the reasons why.
Qualcomm can win big from several AI inference applications
The smartphone business has historically been Qualcomm's bread and butter. However, the tilt toward AI inference has opened a whole new opportunity for the company. Qualcomm started making progress in AI chips last year with its inference-focused AI200 and AI250 rack-scale data center solutions, noting that Saudi Arabian AI company Humain will deploy these solutions to power 200 megawatts (MW) of AI data centers.
Though the deployment is on the smaller side, Qualcomm management struck a positive note on the April earnings call about the future of its AI chip business. CEO Cristiano Amon remarked:
In data center, the Alpha Wave integration is off to a great start and we are pursuing multiple opportunities with large hyperscalers, cloud service providers, sovereign AI projects, and other global partners. Building on that momentum, we are also entering the custom silicon space, beginning our ramp with a leading hyperscaler and we expect initial shipments in December.
In addition, development of our leading data center CPU and high performance AI inference accelerators is progressing well. We look forward to sharing more details and customer wins at Investor Day in June.
It now appears that TikTok owner ByteDance could be among those major customers looking to deploy Qualcomm's AI inference accelerators in its data centers. As reported by Bloomberg, ByteDance is on track to buy "millions" of Qualcomm's custom AI processors, becoming one of its first major customers.
Bloomberg adds that ByteDance is procuring Qualcomm's chips to power its agentic AI software. Given that Amon pointed out that it is "pursuing multiple opportunities" in the AI chip space, don't be surprised to see the company's AI customer base swell further.
Importantly, Qualcomm's AI chip opportunity isn't limited to just data centers. The company has also been pursuing the edge AI hardware market. Edge AI devices are those that can process AI workloads locally instead of relying on cloud computing. Smartphones, personal computers (PCs), autonomous cars, drones, and robots are examples of edge devices.
Qualcomm has been pushing the envelope in product development to capitalize on the fast-growing edge AI market. According to one estimate, the edge AI market could clock a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 37% through 2030. In fact, Qualcomm's automotive business suggests it is already making the most of the addressable opportunity in this space.
The chip designer recently announced that it is expanding its relationship with automotive giant Stellantis to deploy its Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions to support automated driving and other features. Qualcomm's automotive revenue increased 38% year over year in the second quarter of fiscal 2026 (which ended on March 29) to $1.33 billion. The company was sitting on a $45 billion design win pipeline in the automotive business in March this year, indicating that this business could take off nicely in the future as AI adoption in the automotive space increases.
The valuation makes the stock a no-brainer buy
Qualcomm stock has surged by a whopping 62% over the past month. Still, it can be bought at just 25 times trailing earnings. The forward earnings multiple of 22 is quite affordable, and the sales multiple of 5.7 suggests investors are getting a great deal on this AI stock right now.
Of course, Qualcomm's top and bottom lines are anticipated to drop in the current fiscal year. However, the addition of AI customers and the healthy growth of the company's automotive business should enable it to return to growth. This is probably why analysts are expecting Qualcomm's earnings growth to accelerate in a couple of years.
However, don't be surprised to see this semiconductor stock delivering stronger-than-expected earnings growth as its AI chip business ramps up. That could lead the market to reward Qualcomm with a higher valuation, potentially paving the way for more upside over the long run.

Until just recently, Ford has been stuck in neutral, battling quality concerns, recalls, and warranty costs, while GM has surged higher on cost discipline and heavy share buybacks. Stellantis has spiraled lower after years of market share losses in its core North America profit engine and massive electric-vehicle-related charges. Savvy investors see opportunity in Stellantis, as it may have the most upside after shedding so much value. For Stellantis to gain traction with its turnaround and reward investors, these three things need to happen.
Solve the affordability crisis
The pressure on consumers to pay more and more for each vehicle is reaching crisis levels. Not only have new vehicle prices surged to around $50,000, but insurance rates have also seen a big spike in recent years, and repair costs are on the rise. There is significant demand for more affordable vehicles, and Stellantis needs to quickly regain lost market share -- it's a perfect strategic fit.
The good news is that Stellantis is preparing to attack the affordability problem head-on by launching nine vehicles priced under $40,000 by 2030 in North America, and even better is that two of those vehicles will be below $30,000. The new product blitz will give consumers a number of affordable options, and potentially lure consumers from other brands, which is typically expensive in the automotive industry.
Improve empty capacity
Automakers have a finite amount of production capacity, limiting them to the number of vehicles they can produce regionally and globally. While Toyota Motor is currently running near max capacity in the U.S., Stellantis finds itself at the opposite end with unfilled production capacity, which erodes margins quickly.
As more affordable vehicles launch, it will help improve volume -- Stellantis aims to grow volume by 35% in North America -- and help fill unused capacity, improving margins along the way. Stellantis is aiming to increase production enough to improve capacity utilization in the U.S. to 80% by the end of this decade. These factors should help Stellantis boost its adjusted operating income margin in North America to between 8% and 10%, with revenue also jumping 25%.
Combine forces
Stellantis is also taking steps to aggressively expand its global partnerships to help drive the automaker forward in several areas. The automaker's key alliances are with tech giants, mobility platforms, and even Chinese automakers.
One key partnership is Stellantis' holding in the Leapmotor International joint venture, which has been at 51% since 2023. That ownership gives Stellantis exclusive rights for the sale and manufacturing of its products outside greater China. This partnership could lead to a number of developments, including the possibility of Stellantis building electric vehicles (EVs) in Canada with Leapmotor. Largely, this partnership will enable Stellantis to grow its sales, learn from the advanced EV prowess of its Chinese counterpart, and share capital expenses.
This is but one of very many partnerships Stellantis is currently involved in, or working to create -- there's a lot of opportunity.
What it all means
These three factors are all intertwined within a larger Stellantis plan unveiled on May 21. The $70 billion five-year plan is geared toward a complete overhaul and turnaround for the beleaguered automaker. Roughly 70% of that global investment will be focused on key brands Jeep, Ram, Peugeot, Fiat, and the Pro One commercial division.
Investors should be optimistic that the automaker has the right objectives in place; it just comes down to execution. Stellantis finally has an identity, with the majority of its investments focused on key brands while the remaining of the 14-brand list becomes more regionalized. As the automaker unleashes a long list of affordable vehicles, improves capacity utilization, and leans on key partnerships for expertise and cost sharing, there should be a viable path forward for Stellantis and investors brave enough to hop on for the long haul.

New vehicle average transaction prices (ATPs) have boomed from roughly $35,158 in 2016 to nearly $50,000 by the end of last year, according to data from Cox Automotive. Historically, ATPs have increased an average of 3.2% year over year, but the figure nearly tripled to 9% between 2020 and 2022. Just as important as the overall price tag is the brutal hit consumers are taking with monthly payments. The average new-car payment is a staggering $749 per month, and 20% of new-car buyers are committing to payments topping $1,000, according to CarEdge. It's a bit out of control.
That's a problem that needs to be solved, and what a perfect opportunity for Stellantis, which is looking to reverse its lengthy market share decline and regain sales volume.
