UBS Group AG provides financial advice and solutions to private, institutional, and corporate clients worldwide. It operates through four divisions: Global Wealth Management, Personal & Corporate Banking, Asset Management, and Investment Bank. The Global Wealth Management division offers investment advice and solutions, and lending solutions. This segment also provides estate and wealth planning, investing, corporate and banking, and investment management, as well as mortgage, securities-based, and structured lending solutions. The Personal & Corporate Banking division provides personal banking products and services, such as deposits, cards, and online and mobile banking, as well as lending, investments, and retirement services; and corporate and institutional solutions, including equity and debt capital markets, syndicated and structured credit, private placements, leasing, traditional financing, trade and export finance, and global custody solutions, as well as transaction banking solutions for payment and cash management. The Asset Management division offers equities, fixed income, hedge funds, real estate and private markets, indexed and alternative beta strategies, asset allocation and currency investment strategies, customized multi-asset solutions, advisory and fiduciary services, and multi-manager hedge fund solutions and advisory services. The Investment Bank division advises clients on strategic business opportunities and helps them raise capital to fund their activities; enables its clients to buy, sell, and finance securities on capital markets and to manage their risks and liquidity; distribute, trade, finance, and clear cash equities and equity-linked products; and offers clients differentiated content on major financial markets and securities. The company was formerly known as UBS AG and changed its name to UBS Group AG in December 2014. UBS Group AG was founded in 1862 and is based in Zurich, Switzerland.

UBS appears to be a large and profitable financial institution, but the market has already priced in a substantial part of the improvement. On valuation multiples, the picture is mixed: P/E is above the industry median, P/B is also elevated, and P/FCF looks very expensive, which limits the potential for re-rating. At the same time, P/S is below the median, but for a bank this metric is secondary and does not offset the high valuation on earnings and capital. The recent dynamics of P/B and P/E generally do not show a sustained decline, so the case for multiple expansion is weak. The strong point is EPS growth, improving revenue, and a notable increase in gross profit, which confirms a recovery in the operating base. Gross margin is high and gradually improving, but net and operating margins are still below industry benchmarks, so earnings quality does not look outstanding. ROE is around the industry median and has improved noticeably compared with earlier periods, while ROA and ROI remain weak, indicating limited efficiency in the use of assets and capital. Return on tangible equity is also below the industry level, so capital return quality does not yet support aggressive upside in the valuation. The balance sheet remains large and stable in scale, but leverage is very high relative to the industry, and long-term debt and total liabilities remain significant, adding risk. Liquidity does not look ideal: the current ratio is below 1, and the quick ratio is zero, which is not critical in the financial sector by itself, but confirms dependence on the banking balance sheet structure. Dividend yield has increased compared with prior years, supporting investment appeal for income portfolios. Overall, the fundamentals support a moderately positive view, but expensive multiples and weak capital efficiency limit upside potential. For the target price, this implies only a small conservative downward adjustment rather than a revision of the investment thesis on the company.

UBS (UBS) Q2 2026 Earnings Call Transcript

(RTTNews) - Swiss banking major UBS Group AG (UBS) reported Wednesday higher profit in its second quarter, driven by increased revenues.
Looking ahead for the third quarter, the company said the market conditions remain broadly constructive, while ongoing geopolitical developments and volatile energy prices lead to high levels of uncertainty around the inflation and interest rate outlook.
For the third quarter, the company expects Global Wealth Management net interest income to increase modestly, broadly in line with the sequential uptick recorded in the second quarter. In Personal & Corporate Banking, net interest income is expected to be flat to slightly higher sequentially.
The firm further said it is continuing with another share repurchase program to repurchase $3 billion of shares at the latest by the end of the second quarter of 2027.
The company plans to repurchase at least $1 billion of shares over the next three months.
In the second quarter, net profit attributable to shareholders climbed to $2.80 billion from last year's $2.40 billion. Earnings per share grew to $0.87 from $0.72 a year ago.
Total revenues increased to $13.70 billionf rom last year's $12.11 billion. On an underlying basis, revenues increased 16 percent to $13.35 billion, driven by a 14 percent YoY increase in revenues in core businesses.
Net interest income climbed 22 percent from last year to $2.40 billion.

Next are Reuters’ five world market themes, re-ordered for equity traders--
(1) The U.S. Fed Meets This Week. Plus, There Are Major EPS Reports Out
A U.S. Federal Reserve meeting and a slew of corporate earnings reports headlined by technology giants are setting U.S. markets up for a busy week.
The Fed is widely expected to hold rates steady on Wednesday in its second meeting under new Chair Kevin Warsh.
Warsh has shunned offering guidance but vowed to bring the inflation rate down to target, so uncertainty remains high as interest rate rises might be in order at some point.
Recent consumer and producer price data that were cooler than market participants expected helped calm rate-hike bets, but a resurgence in oil prices means traders are raising their bets again.
Meanwhile, earnings reports from Apple, Microsoft and Amazon are due as investors count on a strong quarter for U.S. corporate profits and focus on AI spending trends.
Expect more scrutiny after hyperscaler Alphabet's shares tanked as it faced investor questions about its cash flow and higher capital spending plans this week.
(2) A Deluge of Corporate Earnings Come from Europe’s Major Corporations
It's Europe's busiest week of this earnings season with 40% of STOXX 600 market cap reporting, according to Barclays.
The line-up includes LVMH, AstraZeneca, Shell, Airbus and UBS.
Second-quarter profit in Europe is set to increase by 17.3% when combining the results of companies that have already reported with estimates for those pending.
That would mark the fastest growth rate since the fourth quarter of 2022. But that's driven mostly by energy, given surging oil prices. Exclude them and LSEG I/B/E/S expects a more modest 7.2%.
Flash Eurozone inflation and growth readings, meanwhile, could go some way to deciding whether the ECB will raise interest rates again this year, after it left policy unchanged on Thursday following June's hike.
(3) The Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait (Red Sea) Are Closed
How much oil and gas is coming out of the Middle East is the most important near-term question, and investors now have two energy shipping chokepoints to watch.
Houthi attacks could make off-limits the Bab el-Mandeb strait, which links the Indian Ocean to the Red Sea and eventually the already-squeezed Strait of Hormuz.
That prospect sent Brent crude through $100 a barrel on Thursday for the first time since May. European gas prices just touched their highest levels since March.
A U.S.-Iran peace deal looks elusive, but news about the Gulf isn't the only thing investors will be looking for when they refresh Truth Social. The U.S. on Friday imposed new tariffs of 10% and 12.5% on goods from 60 trading partners, including the European Union and China, adding to market uncertainty.
(4) On Thursday, the Bank of England (BoE) Meets
The Bank of England has, unlike the European Central Bank or Bank of Japan, so far resisted the urge from some policymakers to hike rates in the face of oil-driven price pressure.
It's widely expected to do so again on Thursday.
Markets anticipate at least one interest rate increase this year as the rate of inflation picks up again, but signs of job market weakness indicate the BoE could adopt a more dovish tone.
Rate-setters meet just days after Prime Minister Andy Burnham entered Downing Street promising to reshape Britain.
In the post-policy-meeting briefing, BoE chief Andrew Bailey is likely to be pressed on his thoughts on what Burnham's agenda means for monetary policy.
Economists estimate an early decision to cut tax on electricity would slow inflation by 0.1 percentage points.
New finance minister John Healey, meanwhile, will also be scrutinized as watchful bond markets assess whether he will be friend or foe.
(5) On Friday, the Bank of Japan (BoJ) Meets
The Bank of Japan meets on Friday, with much riding on policymakers to deliver a hawkish message that could haul the yen away from a four-decade low against the U.S. dollar.
A well-telegraphed rate hike last month, $73 billion worth of currency intervention nor hope of money ‌returning home have done much to lift the yen, which recently weakened beyond 163 per dollar for the first time since 1986.
Sources told Reuters that some in the BOJ see scope to raise rates at a faster pace than the dominant market view of twice a year if price pressure from a weak yen and rising energy costs persist.
Ahead of Friday's policy decision, Tokyo's July inflation figures are also due, though market participants don't expect the data to alter the BOJ outcome.

The Zacks Analyst Blog Highlights Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, LVMH, AstraZeneca, Shell, Airbus and UBS

Newell is the company behind familiar brands such as Rubbermaid.
It's also quite a heavily shorted stock.
Volatile stock Newell Brands (NASDAQ: NWL), the company with a portfolio of familiar household brands such as Rubbermaid, kitchen gear, and Sharpie pens, saw an encouraging rebound in Thursday's trading. Bolstered by not one, but two analyst price target raises, investors eagerly bought the stock, and it closed the day over 5% higher.
2 bullish bumps
Of the two increases, the one made by Andrea Teixeira of JPMorgan Chase's J.P. Morgan was the more impactful. She cranked her Newell fair value assessement 40% higher, to $7 per share from the previous $5. In doing so, the analyst maintained her overweight (buy, in other words) recommendation on the consumer goods conglomerate.

A more cautious raise was made by UBS' Peter Grom in his latest Newell update. The pundit now believes the stock is worth $4.75 per share, up from his previous estimate of $4.25. Unlike Teixeira, he isn't necessarily positive on the company, as he kept his neutral recommendation intact.
Both moves came less than two weeks before Newell is slated to publish its second-quarter results. On average, according to data compiled by Yahoo! Finance, pundits tracking Newell stock are modeling $1.97 billion for revenue, which would be 2% higher year over year. While they're expecting a net profit of $0.19 per share, that's down from $0.24 a year ago.
A short story
There continues to be plenty of bearish sentiment on Newell, however. In recent weeks, it's already considerable short interest -- one gauge of negative investor outlook -- has risen notably to more than 57 million shares out of a total of under 425 million shares outstanding.
Much of this stems from concerns about Newell's considerable debt load, which, despite some recent reductions, remains heavy. In the most recently reported quarter, long-term borrowings totaled almost $5 billion, nearly half of total liabilities. Some stocks are volatile for good reason, and for the moment, I'd stay away from this one.

Why Newell Brands Stock Raced More Than 5% Higher Today

Investors looking for stocks in the Banks - Foreign sector might want to consider either UBS (UBS) or Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD). But which of these two stocks offers value investors a better bang for their buck right now? We'll need to take a closer look.

Investors should feel comfortable knowing that UBS likely has seen a stronger improvement to its earnings outlook than TD has recently. But this is just one piece of the puzzle for value investors.
Value investors also try to analyze a wide range of traditional figures and metrics to help determine whether a company is undervalued at its current share price levels.
The Style Score Value grade factors in a variety of key fundamental metrics, including the popular P/E ratio, P/S ratio, earnings yield, cash flow per share, and a number of other key stats that are commonly used by value investors.
UBS currently has a forward P/E ratio of 15.41, while TD has a forward P/E of 17.90. We also note that UBS has a PEG ratio of 0.84. This popular figure is similar to the widely-used P/E ratio, but the PEG ratio also considers a company's expected EPS growth rate. TD currently has a PEG ratio of 1.37.
Another notable valuation metric for UBS is its P/B ratio of 1.82. The P/B is a method of comparing a stock's market value to its book value, which is defined as total assets minus total liabilities. By comparison, TD has a P/B of 2.47.
These are just a few of the metrics contributing to UBS's Value grade of B and TD's Value grade of F.
UBS has seen stronger estimate revision activity and sports more attractive valuation metrics than TD, so it seems like value investors will conclude that UBS is the superior option right now.

Software support revenue is likely to decline faster as more customers shift to the cloud.
Nevertheless, SAP’s performance hinges on its high-growth cloud business, expanding margins, AI-driven differentiation and strong capital returns. Public cloud orders are gaining momentum, making up a major chunk of its quarterly volume, while SAP continued to gain market share against best-of-breed software vendors.
SAP expects AI-driven consumption models to lead cloud revenue growth by 2030. Rapid uptake of Rise with SAP and Grow with SAP solutions is aiding sales while SAP Business AI, Business Data Cloud and Sovereign Cloud are gaining solid traction.

UBS’ shares have outperformed the Zacks Banks - Foreign industry over the past year (+46.8% vs. +46.4%). The company’s earnings surpassed estimates in all the trailing four quarters. After completing the migration of former Credit Suisse clients, it remains on track to complete the integration by 2026, targeting nearly $13.5 billion in gross cost savings.
The strategic partnership with MSCI is expected to strengthen its private markets capabilities and client solutions. Net interest income (NII) growth and a strong capital position will support top-line growth.
However, elevated digital infrastructure and integration costs remain a concern. Despite progress in resolving Credit Suisse’s legacy issues, litigation and regulatory uncertainty may still pressure earnings. Its high debt/equity ratio raises concerns about capital distribution sustainability.

The company’s top line performance is benefiting from higher design complexity and rising customer spend on AI-driven automation. This microcap company with a market capitalization of $637.55 million sees its long-term outlook supported by a robust investment cycle focused on larger replacement stores, remodels, merchandising initiatives and technology upgrades that should expand selling capacity, improve productivity and sustain revenue growth.
Healthy same-store sales, new store openings and continued expansion projects provide additional growth visibility. Strong operating cash flow enables the company to fund capital investments, reduce debt and maintain consistent dividend payments without relying heavily on external financing, while lower interest expenses and disciplined debt management further improve earnings quality and financial flexibility.
However, risks include persistent margin pressure from higher promotional, warehouse, labor and operating costs, significant dependence on Wakefern for merchandise and services. The stock trades at a meaningful discount to peers on EV/sales.

Shares of Medalist Diversified have gained +4.6% over the past year against the Zacks REIT and Equity Trust - Other industry’s gain of +14.1%. This microcap company with a market capitalization of $18.25 million is transitioning from a traditional REIT to an asset-light DST sponsor, with fee income expected to replace property ownership as its primary earnings driver.
The inaugural Tesla Pensacola DST validates the strategy, though monetization remains early and near-term results reflect launch costs rather than recurring fees. Asset sales have strengthened liquidity, reduced debt and improved flexibility, while the remaining portfolio is concentrated in high-occupancy, net-lease assets with strong tenant credit profiles.
Yet execution risk remains elevated until DST fundraising scales and fee income become recurring. Dividend sustainability depends on improving operating cash flow rather than one-time asset gains. The valuation suggests investors remain skeptical of the transition, leaving meaningful upside if MDRR successfully scales recurring DST fee income.

UBS’ shares have outperformed the Zacks Banks - Foreign industry over the past year (+46.8% vs. +46.4%). The company’s earnings surpassed estimates in all the trailing four quarters. After completing the migration of former Credit Suisse clients, it remains on track to complete the integration by 2026, targeting nearly $13.5 billion in gross cost savings.
The strategic partnership with MSCI is expected to strengthen its private markets capabilities and client solutions. Net interest income (NII) growth and a strong capital position will support top-line growth.
However, elevated digital infrastructure and integration costs remain a concern. Despite progress in resolving Credit Suisse’s legacy issues, litigation and regulatory uncertainty may still pressure earnings. Its high debt/equity ratio raises concerns about capital distribution sustainability.

Shares of Cadence have outperformed the Zacks Computer - Software industry over the past year (+20.7% vs. -27.5%). The company’s top line performance is benefiting from higher design complexity and rising customer spend on AI-driven automation. Amid rapid AI proliferation, the Cadence.ai portfolio has been gaining strength and the new product launches (like AgentStack along with ChipStack, ViraStack and InnoStack AI Super Agents) are expected to aid in sustaining the momentum.

This microcap company with a market capitalization of $637.55 million sees its long-term outlook supported by a robust investment cycle focused on larger replacement stores, remodels, merchandising initiatives and technology upgrades that should expand selling capacity, improve productivity and sustain revenue growth.
Healthy same-store sales, new store openings and continued expansion projects provide additional growth visibility. Strong operating cash flow enables the company to fund capital investments, reduce debt and maintain consistent dividend payments without relying heavily on external financing, while lower interest expenses and disciplined debt management further improve earnings quality and financial flexibility.
However, risks include persistent margin pressure from higher promotional, warehouse, labor and operating costs, significant dependence on Wakefern for merchandise and services. The stock trades at a meaningful discount to peers on EV/sales.

Shares of Medalist Diversified have gained +4.6% over the past year against the Zacks REIT and Equity Trust - Other industry’s gain of +14.1%. This microcap company with a market capitalization of $18.25 million is transitioning from a traditional REIT to an asset-light DST sponsor, with fee income expected to replace property ownership as its primary earnings driver.
The inaugural Tesla Pensacola DST validates the strategy, though monetization remains early and near-term results reflect launch costs rather than recurring fees. Asset sales have strengthened liquidity, reduced debt and improved flexibility, while the remaining portfolio is concentrated in high-occupancy, net-lease assets with strong tenant credit profiles.
Yet execution risk remains elevated until DST fundraising scales and fee income become recurring. Dividend sustainability depends on improving operating cash flow rather than one-time asset gains. The valuation suggests investors remain skeptical of the transition, leaving meaningful upside if MDRR successfully scales recurring DST fee income.

MSCI Strengthens Private Markets Platform Through UBS Partnership

Astera Labs (NASDAQ: ALAB), an already-hot stock, had a scorching June that sent it to a new all-time high price. Several positive factors converged for the company, a maker of networking hardware and diagnostics for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure that is knee-deep in the AI revolution.
News of a factory expansion, inclusion in an important stock index, and a clutch of positive analyst updates combined to send Astera up nearly 41% that month.

A busy summer at home and abroad
On June 2, Astera announced that it was expanding its Cloud-Scale Interop Lab located in Taiwan. In its words, this will manifest in "deepening the company's engineering, operational footprint, and strategic coordination with customers and ecosystem partners in one of the world's most important semiconductor ecosystems."
AI hardware requires rigorous testing, and the dramatic expansion of Astera's capabilities in this area at a global center of chip manufacturing is sure to benefit its operations. It should also strengthen the bonds between the company and its important peers in the AI sphere.
Slightly over one week later, Nasdaq announced that, as part of its regular quarterly "rebalancing," it was adding five new stocks to its Nasdaq-100 large-cap index. That quintet includes Astera (plus CoreWeave, Nebius Group, Rocket Lab, and Teradyne, for the curious).
Inclusion on a high-profile index -- and the Nasdaq-100 certainly qualifies -- changes little to nothing about a company's fundamentals and its operations. However, it makes that company's stock an immediate and likely target for the many index funds that dip into market gauges like the Nasdaq-100 for their portfolios.
Finally, several positive analyst updates on Astera were sprinkled throughout the month. Two analysts, Vivek Arya of Bank of America Securities and UBS' Natalia Winkler, both substantially raised their price targets on the specialty tech stock. The former lifted his to $450 per share from $240, while the latter raised hers to $400 from $205.
Neither pundit qualifies as an Astera bull, however, as they both retained their neutral recommendations. That wasn't the case for Stifel's Tore Svanberg, who reiterated his buy recommendation at the beginning of the month, before the stock took off. His price target at the time was $260 per share. At the end of the month, though, this too was raised, to $460.
Late-month cooldown
Sooner or later, a hot stock cools off, and Astera climbed down, albeit only a bit, from its historical peak near the end of the month.
Although the company is an excellent bet as a pick-and-shovel play on the Great AI Build-Out, I'd be a bit wary of its sky-high valuations. However, those who believe it can post out-of-this-world growth in the coming years -- as it has in the recent past -- should consider buying at the current levels.

Why Astera Labs Stock Skyrocketed Last Month

A growing number of analysts are raising their expectations of August’s fiscal Q1 results.
Today’s jump also allows investors to look at recent headlines in a new, more bullish light.
The sizeable gains logged by this stock and several of its peers suggest a sweeping, prolonged reversal of recent bearish sentiment could have just begun.
Most of China's top technology stocks are participating in Wednesday's broad turnaround. Leading the charge, however, is Alibaba Group (NYSE: BABA). As of 12:22 p.m. ET shares of the e-commerce giant are up 11.2%... its best day in nearly a year.
Thank UBS, mostly, although several different developments are contributing to the bullish effort.

Analysts provide the catalyst
Down by nearly half since its October peak, BABA shares started today's trading session already ripe for a rebound. UBS's Kenneth Fong triggered it, though, noting on Wednesday that the company likely produced marginwidening revenue growth during the quarter ending in June, led by 45% top-line growth from its cloud computing unit. Most analysts expect to see accelerating revenue growth in August's release of the company's fiscal Q1 results, in fact, largely driven by growth of its artificial intelligence business. Jefferies' analysts also added this morning "macro headwinds and softness in consumer sentiment are in the price."
Analysts' fresh optimism regarding Alibaba isn't the only bullish factor at work on Wednesday, however. Although it's not company-specific, similar gains from shares of other Chinese tech names like Baidu (NASDAQ: BIDU) and JD.com (NASDAQ: JD) point to a broad turnaround effort for most of the region's beaten-down technology stocks.
This tailwind also allows investors to look at recent news about Alibaba through a more bullish lens. This includes Monday's decision from a U.S. federal judge to block -- albeit only temporarily -- the Pentagon from designating Alibaba as a Chinese military company under its Section 1260H rules, which would prevent it from lobbying within the United States.
A hint worth taking for risk-tolerant investors
A big day like today is a tough act to follow. As such, don't be surprised if BABA shares show some weakness as soon as Thursday.
Just don't lose perspective on the way this stock and its peers ebb and flow. Most artificial intelligence stocks tend to move as a herd as the sentiment surrounding the AI revolution evolves. Rather than lasting a mere single day, these moves can last weeks, if not months. They often simply start with that one decisive reversal of an aging trend... like today's bounce from a pullback that began months ago.
