It explores for and extracts crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids; markets and transports oil and gas; produces gas-to-liquids fuels and other products; and operates upstream and midstream infrastructure necessary to deliver gas to market. The company also markets and trades natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), crude oil, electricity, carbon-emission rights; and markets and sells LNG as a fuel for heavy-duty vehicles. In addition, it trades in and refines crude oil and other feed stocks, such as low-carbon fuels, lubricants, bitumen, sulphur, gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, and marine fuel; produces and sells petrochemicals for industrial use; and manages oil sands activities. Further, the company produces base chemicals comprising ethylene, propylene, and aromatics, as well as intermediate chemicals, such as styrene monomer, propylene oxide, solvents, detergent alcohols, ethylene oxide, and ethylene glycol. Additionally, it generates electricity through wind and solar resources; produces and sells hydrogen; and provides electric vehicle charging services. The company was formerly known as Royal Dutch Shell plc and changed its name to Shell plc in January 2022. Shell plc was founded in 1907 and is headquartered in London, the United Kingdom.

Last September, C3.ai founder Thomas Siebel stepped down from his role as chief executive officer (CEO) to deal with health issues. He played a pivotal role in attracting new customers and maintaining relationships with existing ones, so his departure led to a sharp decline in the company's sales.

However, Siebel returned to the CEO role on May 8 and is laser-focused on getting C3.ai back on track, so should investors buy the stock while it's still trading in the red for 2026, or is more downside ahead?
Helping enterprises unlock the power of AI
Developing AI software from scratch requires billions of dollars' worth of data center infrastructure, and a significant amount of technical expertise. The average business simply doesn't have those resources, so many of them choose to work with third-parties like C3.ai instead.
C3.ai offers a portfolio of 40 ready-made AI applications that can be customized to suit the needs of enterprises in a variety of industries, accelerating their adoption of this revolutionary technology. As an example, oil and gas giant Shell uses C3.ai's apps to monitor thousands of items of equipment so it can conduct preventative maintenance and even predict failures, which minimizes downtime.
Retailers can also use apps like C3.ai Inventory Optimization, which analyzes variations in customer demand to ensure they are ordering precisely enough products, which limits waste. Banks and financial institutions can use the C3.ai Anti-Money Laundering app to identify suspicious transactions with greater accuracy than human-led processes.
Enterprises can access C3.ai's suite of apps through all major cloud providers, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Alphabet's Google Cloud. This allows them to seamlessly integrate AI into their existing digital environments, and it means they can tap into the data center computing capacity on offer from their cloud provider to scale their usage as necessary.
C3.ai expects sales to continue declining
C3.ai generated $250.3 million in revenue during fiscal 2026 (ended April 30), which was a whopping 35% decline from the prior year. Stephen Ehikian, who served as CEO in Siebel's absence, initiated a complete restructure of the company to limit the damage from the sharp decline in sales.
Unfortunately, his efforts couldn't prevent a $470.4 million loss at the bottom line in fiscal 2026, which was 63% higher than the company's loss in fiscal 2025. With just $575.4 million in cash, equivalents, and marketable securities on hand at the end of the fiscal year, C3.ai simply can't afford another blowout loss in fiscal 2027, so it slashed roughly 35% of its workforce.
While this will reduce costs and stop some of the bleeding, it will also have negative implications for the company's ability to grow. As a result, management is forecasting revenue of between $210 million and $240 million in fiscal 2027, which would be a year-over-year decline even at the high end of the range.
C3.ai stock looks cheap, but that doesn't mean it's a buy
C3.ai stock currently trades at a price-to-sales (P/S) ratio of 6.1, which is below its five-year average of 10.5, so it looks like a good value from that perspective. But because the company's revenue is forecast to shrink in fiscal 2027, its forward P/S ratio is 6.9, so the stock actually looks more expensive when looking into the future.
This is precisely why most investors won't buy into a shrinking business -- it can actually get more expensive over time even if its stock price is falling. It's too early to say whether Siebel can turn C3.ai around over the long term, but all we know for sure is that investors will have to endure at least one more year of declining sales, which makes this a very tough investment.
In summary, a beaten-down stock isn't always a cheap stock. C3.ai will have to prove it can return to growth in a sustainable way before I would consider buying its stock.

C3.ai Stock Is Down 21% in 2026. Should You Buy the Dip, or Run for the Hills?

(RTTNews) - Shell plc (SHEL), the British petroleum company, Friday announced that it is pausing its $3 billion share repurchase program from and including, June 12, until including the market close of July 14.
The suspension comes after ARC Resources Ltd. published its shareholder circular and due to related securities law requirements, that apply to Shell.
Further, the petroleum company will update if the suspension extends beyond the dates set out.
In pre-market activity, SHEL shares were trading at $85.06, down 0.91% on the New York Stock Exchange.

Shell Pauses $3 Bln Share Buyback Program

Shell plc SHEL has reportedly taken a significant step in re-establishing its presence in Venezuela by signing five agreements with the Venezuelan government to advance strategic oil and gas projects. The agreements mark a new phase in the relationship between the energy giant and the South American nation, highlighting the company’s growing role in Venezuela’s efforts to revitalize its energy sector and attract foreign investment.
The latest deals build on preliminary agreements signed earlier in the year and reinforce Shell’s position as one of the first major international energy companies to capitalize on the country’s renewed investment opportunities.
Loran Gas Field Takes Center Stage
At the heart of the agreements is Shell’s participation in the Loran offshore gas field, a massive reservoir estimated to hold approximately 7 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of natural gas. The field extends across maritime boundaries shared by Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago, making it one of the region’s most strategically important gas developments.
Venezuelan officials described the agreement as a historic milestone, as it advances the first phase of the Loran field’s development plan. The project is expected to play a critical role in unlocking Venezuela’s vast offshore gas resources and strengthening regional energy cooperation.
Supporting Venezuela’s Gas Export Ambitions
The Loran project, alongside the 4.2-Tcf Dragon gas field in which Shell is also involved, is expected to pave the way for Venezuela’s entry into offshore gas exports. Initial supplies are expected to be transported to Trinidad and Tobago, where the gas can be processed into liquefied natural gas (LNG) for international markets.
This development could create a new revenue stream for Venezuela while helping monetize the country’s substantial untapped gas reserves. For Shell, the projects offer access to significant long-term gas resources in a region with growing export potential.
Broader Energy Cooperation Beyond Gas
The agreements extend beyond offshore gas development. Shell and Venezuela also reached a technical alliance aimed at expanding production from oilfields in Monagas North. Another pact focuses on procuring equipment and parts designed to reduce gas flaring, supporting operational efficiency and environmental performance.
Additionally, increased oil production linked to Shell’s activities is expected to improve the availability of diluents used in producing Venezuela’s flagship Merey crude blend and supplying domestic refineries.
Broader Industry Implications
The agreements come amid broader geopolitical and economic shifts, including efforts to revitalize Venezuela’s energy sector. They are among the first major expansion deals following reforms aimed at attracting international capital.
At the same time, BP p.l.c. BP is also expected to participate in the Loran gas field and the adjacent Cocuina-Manakin offshore gas project under separate agreements signed with the Venezuelan government in April. BP already has exposure to the region through its Manakin-Cocuina exploration and production license, awarded in 2024. However, U.S. approvals were revoked, prompting BP to lobby for reinstatement.
Chevron Corporation’s CVX joint ventures with PDVSA are already producing approximately 260,000 barrels per day — about a quarter of Venezuela’s total output. In April, CVX also signed an asset swap agreement with PDVSA, expected to support a potential 50% increase in production over the next two years within its existing footprint.The restructuring also positions Chevron to compete more effectively as Venezuela opens its energy sector to increased foreign investment following regulatory reforms.
A Strategic Win for Shell
The latest agreements elevate Shell, currently carrying a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), to one of the most important partners of Venezuela’s state-owned energy company, PDVSA. Shell's Venezuela Return Gains Momentum With Loran Gas Deal

Oil prices have surged this year amid the conflict with Iran. Brent oil, the global benchmark price, has risen more than 50%, jumping from around $60 a barrel to more than $90. On a positive note, Brent is currently well below its peak of nearly $120 a barrel, reached in the early days of the war. Crude has cooled off amid hopes that the U.S. and Iran will reach a peace deal that includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Many people outside the oil industry believe oil prices will decline rapidly once the Strait reopens and remain low in the coming years. However, the CEO of global oil giant Shell (NYSE:SHEL) has a different view. He expects oil prices to continue rising long after the war ends. Here’s why and what that means for oil stocks.

Upside pressure over the longer term
Shell’s CEO, Wael Sawan, believes oil and gas prices will keep rising well after the current Middle East conflict ends. That’s largely due to the expectation that global oil demand will continue to grow. As a result, oil companies will need to continue developing new supplies to offset production declines and depletions in legacy oil fields.
That poses a problem. Sawan told attendees at the Wall Street Journal Leadership Institute CEO Summit that while the oil industry can currently meet global demand (once the Strait reopens), it will be more challenging going forward. That’s because “all the easy oil and gas has been found.” As a result, oil companies will need to pursue resources that are currently uneconomic to explore and develop. Prices will need to rise to make it profitable to tap into the resources the economy will need in the future. That drives his view that “prices are going to move up, [which is] the story of five to 10 years [ahead].”
The importance of exploration
Shell is already investing money to help support future demand growth. The company aims to add 1 million barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) per day to its output by 2030 through the commissioning of new projects. Additionally, it’s looking at future opportunities to expand its output. For example, the company acquired acreage in Angola and South Africa to explore for new resources. It’s also evaluating opportunities in Kuwait and Venezuela. These investments will enable Shell to meet future global supply needs and capitalize on rising prices.
Most other major oil companies are also investing to find and develop future supply. For example, last August, ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM) acquired a large block offshore Trinidad and Tobago (UD1). It’s next to the company’s Stabroek block in Guyana, where it made 30 discoveries totaling 11 billion BOE. ExxonMobil recently sold a 10% interest in UD1 to Occidental Petroleum (NYSE:OXY), which will now help fund its portion of the exploration and development costs. Exxon initially plans to invest $42 million in seismic testing and exploration wells, which could pave the way for nearly $22 billion in future investment to develop the field. UD1 could be a major growth driver for these oil companies, enabling them to capitalize on rising demand and prices.
Meanwhile, Occidental, along with partners Chevron and Woodside Energy, recently made an oil discovery at their Bandit prospect in the Gulf of Mexico (also known as the Gulf of America in the U.S.). Bandit is near another Occidental-operated facility, which it could tie into in support of its future development. Occidental also signed a 15-year extension of an agreement in Oman last year to tap a potential resource of more than 800 million barrels. These moves will further enhance Occidental’s ability to capitalize on the growth ahead in the oil industry.
Oil could be much higher in the future
Oil prices could fall in the near term once the Strait of Hormuz reopens. However, Shell’s CEO sees them rising over the longer term, due to growing demand. That bodes well for oil companies actively exploring for new resources, as it will give them the fuel to grow production and capitalize on higher future prices. This outlook makes oil stocks look like a compelling long-term investment.

Shell-Led LNG Canada Gets Preliminary Nod for Phase Two Expansion

Shell (NYSE: SHEL) and BP (NYSE: BP) are two of the world's largest integrated energy companies. They have globally diversified portfolios, and their businesses span the entire energy value chain. Diversification is a good thing, but right now there's a complication because of the geopolitical conflict in the Middle East.
On the positive side, the Middle East conflict has driven up oil prices. On the negative side, the industry's operations in the region have been disrupted. Both Shell and BP have operations in the region. How should investors think about these two stocks in light of the ongoing conflict?

The best play is to play it safe
If you are worried about the conflict in the Middle East, you can avoid it almost entirely if you buy a company that has no exposure to the region. For example, Devon Energy (NYSE: DVN) is a U.S.-based oil producer. Its production isn't affected by the conflict, but it still benefits from high oil prices.
Or you could sidestep oil prices altogether with a fee-based midstream business, like Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE: EPD). Enterprise gets paid based on the volume moving through its energy infrastructure system, with volumes hitting record levels in the first quarter of 2026.
That said, integrated energy companies like BP and Shell are an attractive way to gain broad exposure to the global energy market. That remains true despite the disruptions in the Middle East. For long-term investors, integrated energy companies are a good investment choice in the energy sector. And Shell and BP offer attractive dividend yields of 3.4% and 4.6%, respectively.
What about the conflict in the Middle East?
Both companies will be impacted by the Middle East conflict. Roughly 22% of BP's production is in the region, according to Reuters research. Shell, by contrast, generates around 20% of its production from the region. Some of Shell's assets have sustained damage during the conflict.
Exposure, however, is just one way to look at the issue. A better question might be which of these European energy giants can withstand the adversity they may face due to the conflict. The answer there is almost certainly Shell, which has a much stronger balance sheet. BP's debt-to-equity ratio is a worryingly high 1.3x, well above its peers'. Shell's ratio is a far more reasonable 0.4x.
It seems as if the market isn't recognizing this fact, however, because BP's stock is up 22% so far in 2026, as of this writing, while Shell's stock has risen 15%. Recent corporate changes at BP, meanwhile, raise another concern. The company has had three CEOs in as many years and has just pushed its Chairman out due to governance concerns. In other words, the highly leveraged company is taking on a material geopolitical event while its leadership is in flux. That's not ideal.
BP will survive, but Shell is probably preferable
BP will easily survive the conflict in the Middle East, and so will Shell. If you think short-term, BP appears less affected right now, highlighting the damage to Shell's investments in the region. That could make BP a better option. However, rapid management changes and high leverage are issues that shouldn't be ignored.
Shell's financial strength, meanwhile, means it should be able to both weather the conflict and what lies beyond it in relative stride. That could actually make it a better option today, given that its stock hasn't risen as much as BP's. The seven percentage point advantage BP has doesn't look huge, but it is a 45% performance difference. That gap could easily close if Shell's stock advances or BP's stock declines.
That said, if you are looking to limit your exposure to the geopolitical conflict in the Middle East, the best bet could actually be a U.S. driller like Devon or a midstream operator like Enterprise. Neither one has exposure to the Middle East, and Enterprise's business isn't driven by energy prices.

The deal adds high-quality assets in Guyana, the Bakken and the Gulf of America, strengthening long-term output and free cash flow growth. Management reaffirmed production growth guidance of 7-10% while maintaining disciplined capital spending, highlighting operational efficiency and financial strength.
CVX also benefits from its integrated refining system, growing LNG exposure through long-term contracts, and strong production momentum at Tengizchevroil. In addition, CVX’s partnership initiatives tied to AI-driven power demand create new long-term growth opportunities.
Chevron has an expected revenue and earnings growth rate of 16.2% and more than 100%, respectively, for the current year. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current year’s earnings has improved 2% over the last seven days. It has a current dividend yield of 3.72%.
Exxon Mobil Corp.
Exxon Mobil has been benefiting from higher upstream production and improved crude price realizations. XOM is strengthening its long-term growth outlook through higher production, LNG expansion, low-carbon projects, and strong shareholder returns.
In the Permian Basin, lightweight proppant technology is improving drilling efficiency and recovery, supporting XOM’s production growth from 1.7 MMboe/d in Q1 2026 to more than 2.5 MMboe/d beyond 2030.
In Guyana, production exceeded 900,000 Bbl/d. Golden Pass LNG Train 1 boosted LNG export capacity by roughly 5%, with full expansion expected to increase U.S. LNG exports by about 15%. XOM is also advancing hydrogen, ammonia, and plastic recycling projects.
Exxon Mobil has an expected revenue and earnings growth rate of 15.8% and 64.4%, respectively, for the current year. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current year’s earnings has improved 12.3% over the last 30 days. It has a current dividend yield of 2.66%.
BP plc
BP is focused on cost efficiencies and portfolio simplification to strengthen profitability and resilience. The sale of the Gelsenkirchen refinery and a 65% stake in Castrol to Stonepeak supports its $9 billion to $10 billion divestment target, improving cash flow and balance sheet strength. BP also aims to cut costs by $6.5 billion to $7.5 billion by 2027.
Strong refining performance, with over 96% availability and throughput above 1.5 Mmbbl/d, drove Q1 2026 earnings and cash flow.
