One of the more surprising moves in the cloud industry has come from Oracle (NYSE: ORCL). The company built its reputation as the leader in relational databases, but it breathed new life into its business when it discovered that its IT infrastructure positioned it to succeed in the cloud business.
With that, it has developed a niche for high-performance computing workloads, a competitive advantage that could help it steal market share in 2026, and here's how.

Oracle and the cloud
Oracle stands out in the cloud market because of its focus on high-performance computing in a cost-effective manner, making its offering more attractive to its customers.
That may be what helped it attract a $300 billion deal from OpenAI last fall. Consequently, its backlog has risen to $523 billion. Also, since it continues to expand its services to more regions, it will probably be better able to leverage that backlog into a higher market share.
Currently, it is the fifth-largest cloud provider as measured by market share. Even though its 3% market share rose from 2% in 2024, it may not sound significant.
Nonetheless, Grand View Research estimated the industry's size at $944 billion. It also projects a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16% between 2026 and 2033, taking the industry's size to over $3.3 trillion by that year. Thus, even if that market share stays the same, Oracle should benefit significantly.
Oracle by the numbers
Such conditions have translated into improved financials. In the first six months of fiscal 2026 (ended Nov. 30, 2025), its cloud segment alone generated over $15 billion in revenue. That was a 31% yearly increase, and it was Oracle's only segment that grew revenue at a double-digit rate.
Moreover, Oracle reported $31 billion in overall revenue, rising 13% annually and making the cloud segment the company's largest at 49%. The cloud growth likely boosted its net income for the first half of fiscal 2026 to $9.1 billion, up from $6.1 billion in the year-ago period.
Furthermore, analysts forecast 17% revenue growth in fiscal 2026 and 29% the next year. That increased revenue growth could bode well for a stock whose performance has suffered in recent months.
Admittedly, the aforementioned investment in more cloud infrastructure has left it $108 billion in debt, a massive load for a company with a $30 billion book value.
Nonetheless, its P/E ratio of 33 is close to the S&P 500 average of 31. Considering the accelerating revenue growth and rising profits, that valuation could convince investors to overlook the debt, assuming those increases translate into a higher market share.
Oracle looking forward
Oracle's cloud market share is on a path to continued increases, and that should bode well for its stock price.
Indeed, Oracle claims a modest market share right now, and its debt load appears concerning.
However, Oracle's niche in high-performance computing has helped its cloud growth far exceed the industry's CAGR. With that and its heavy investments in itself, Oracle should be well-positioned to deliver returns for investors as it works down its backlog and claims a larger share of the cloud market.

The AI Infrastructure Stock That's Stealing Market Share in 2026

Generac Holdings (GNRC) is a leading manufacturer of power generation equipment, including standby generators, energy storage, and related products, serving residential, commercial, industrial, and portable needs. The company focuses on backup power solutions amid rising demand from outages, data centers, and electrification trends.
Revenue Segments
Generac's 2024 revenue reached $4.3 billion, with Residential products at 56-57% ($2.4 billion), Commercial & Industrial (C&I) at 32% ($1.4 billion), and Other products/services at 11%. Domestic sales dominate at 84%, with international at 16%. TTM revenue through mid-2025 stands at $4.41 billion.
The problem is that fiscal year 2025 revenues are looking like they are going to come in flat near $4.3 billion too.
Growth Rates
Revenue grew 6.8% in 2024 after an 11.9% decline in 2023, with TTM growth at 9.7%. Residential averaged 9.5% YoY growth over two years, while C&I saw 2.2% declines; Q3 2025 sales fell 5% to $1.11 billion. Analysts project 7.7% revenue growth over the next year and flat 2025 sales amid weak outages, with EPS up 15.8% to $7.54. Long-term CAGR is 14% since 2000.
Profits are a problem too with the Zacks consensus for 2025 projected at EPS of $6.61, representing a 9% annual drop.
Q3 Report Displays the Weakness
Generac reported third-quarter 2025 adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $1.83, which missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.25 by 18%. GNRC reported adjusted EPS of $2.25 in the prior-year quarter.
Net sales were $1.11 billion, down 5% compared with $1.17 billion reported in the prior-year quarter. The figure also missed the consensus estimate of $1.2 billion.
Weaker seasonal demand for home standby and portable generators offset increases in sales for global C&I products and higher shipments of residential energy technology products. Although home standby and portable generator shipments were up sequentially in the quarter, they came in below expectations due to a power outage environment that was considerably below the baseline average, as highlighted by GNRC.
As a result of a weak power outage environment, management has revised its expectations for 2025. For 2025, GNRC now expects revenues to be flat compared with an increase of 2-5% guided earlier.
Net income margin (before deducting for non-controlling interests) is now expected to be 6% compared with 7.5-8.5% guided earlier. Adjusted EBITDA margin is now estimated to be 17% compared with the previous range of 18% to 19%. GNRC now expects free cash flow conversion from adjusted net income to be 80% compared with the previous guided range of 90% to 100%.
Demand and Backlog
Management describes data center power as a “generational opportunity,” with the potential to double C&I sales over the next three to five years as hyperscale and AI-driven capacity build out.
The order backlog for large???megawatt generators has roughly doubled in recent quarters, explicitly tied to data center projects, and is now a key component of forward C&I visibility.
Customers, Partners, and Competition
Key customers include residential homeowners, C&I clients like data centers (e.g., C7 Data Centers), and industrial users. Generac supplies high-capacity generators (2.25-3.25 MW) for data centers and partners with Wallbox for EV charging integration.
This month, Generac acquired a Sussex, WI manufacturing site to expand C&I production alongside their Beaver Dam and Oshkosh facilities. This long-term focus on growth is a key factor for investors to focus on during the short-term slump.
But there is new competition on the block.
Bloom Energy (BE) leads in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) for stationary on-site power, targeting data centers with efficient, grid-independent generation deployable in 90 days. Bloom has customers like Oracle (ORCL) and partners with Brookfield Corporation (BN) to supply datacenters with fast, clean, agile energy.
Bloom also recently inked a $2.65 billion deal with American Electric Power (AEP) to provide fuel cells. I originally bought Bloom Energy shares in September because they had a chance to double revenues in under two years just like Generac did from 2020-2022 to $4.5 billion. Bloom Energy is projected to grow the topline by 38% this year to cross $2.6 billion.
While Generac dominates combustion generators, Bloom's cleaner fuel cells pose indirect competition in resilient backup markets like data centers as both serve electrification but differ technologically. Generac's Q3 strength in C&I data center shipments highlights this shared space.

Oracle’s increasing cloud capital spending is positioning the company for its next growth phase by expanding capacity to meet rising AI and enterprise cloud demand. Management raised its fiscal 2026 capital expenditure forecast to around $50 billion, nearly $15 billion above earlier estimates, reflecting strong visibility into cloud bookings and future workloads.
During the second quarter of fiscal 2026, Oracle invested roughly $12 billion, primarily in GPU-based infrastructure and data centers to support growth in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. While this heavy spending drove negative free cash flow in the quarter, the company emphasized that most of this expenditure is focused on revenue-generating equipment rather than long-term real estate assets. Because the equipment is added late in the data center build cycle, Oracle can start generating revenues shortly after customers go live, shortening the gap between investment and monetization.
These investments are closely linked to Oracle’s expanding backlog and demand pipeline. Management said many new bookings can be monetized quickly because capacity is already available or under construction. As a result, the company expects about $4 billion in incremental revenue acceleration beginning in fiscal 2027, driven by AI training, inference and multicloud deployments.
Oracle is taking a disciplined approach to funding this growth through a mix of debt markets and alternative models like customer-provided or leased chips, which helps keep revenues in line with costs. In addition, the company continues to expand its global cloud footprint by adding new regions and multicloud data centers, strengthening its ability to capture AI workloads worldwide.
How Rivals Are Competing with Oracle’s Massive Cloud CapEx
Oracle competes with Amazon and Alphabet, which are investing heavily in data centers and AI infrastructure to expand their cloud businesses.
Amazon’s edge in cloud CapEx comes from the scale and speed of its AWS and AI investments. In the third quarter of 2025, Amazon spent nearly $90 billion on CapEx, mainly for AWS, custom silicon and AI capacity, showing strong confidence in long-term cloud demand. The company added 3.8 gigawatts of power capacity and deployed Trainium chips and large AI clusters like Project Rainier, enabling faster monetization and reinforcing Amazon’s cloud leadership.
Alphabet’s strength in cloud CapEx is rooted in its full-stack AI strategy and infrastructure spending. In the third quarter of 2025, Alphabet invested about $24 billion in CapEx, mainly in servers and data centers to support growing Google Cloud and AI demand. Its TPU roadmap, alongside NVIDIA GPUs, improves performance and cost efficiency, while rapid data center expansion supports a $155 billion backlog, strengthening Alphabet’s position as a scalable, AI-first cloud leader.
ORCL’s Price Performance, Valuation & Estimates
Shares of Oracle have declined 26.3% in the past six months, underperforming both the Zacks Computer and Technology sector’s growth of 14.4% and the Zacks Computer - Software industry’s fall of 13.5%.

The Zacks Analyst Blog Oracle's, Amazon and Alphabet

(RTTNews) - Tech major Oracle Corp. (ORCL), which offers cloud infrastructure to TikTok, reportedly said that a temporary weather-related power outage at an Oracle data center caused the issues faced by U.S. users of the social media app.
Reuters reported quoting Oracle spokesperson Michael Egbert's email that the challenges U.S. TikTok users may be experiencing were the result of technical issues that followed the power outage.
Over the weekened, TikTok users across multiple regions in the US faced widespread service outage. They complained about not being able to login to the app, and also to load the videos.
The companies said they were working to quickly resolve the major infrastructure issue.
Last week, TikTok's Chinese owner, ByteDance, had finalized a deal to set up a majority U.S.-owned joint venture, TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC, to avert a ban on the short video app used by more than 200 million Americans. The majority American board for TikTok's U.S. operations is closely aligned with President Donald Trump. Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, a longtime Trump ally, is central to the new ownership structure.
A 2024 bipartisan law had required TikTok's China-based parent company to sell the app or face a U.S. ban due to national security concerns.
Oracle closed Tuesday's regular trading 4.1 percent lower at $174.90. In the overnight trading, the shares were gaining 1.1 percent to trade at $176.76.
