However, Oracle's latest update suggests that it could indeed become a much bigger company by 2030. Let's see how much upside Oracle investors can expect in the next five years.
Oracle is expecting a much stronger growth rate through 2030
Oracle's revenue in its most recently concluded fiscal year 2025 (which ended on May 31) came in at $57.4 billion. For comparison, its top line in fiscal 2020 was $39.1 billion. So, Oracle's revenue increased at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8% during this five-year period.
The good part is that Oracle is now growing at a much faster pace. The company reported a year-over-year increase of 12% in its revenue in the first quarter of fiscal 2026. It expects to finish the current fiscal year with $67 billion in revenue, which would be an improvement of over 17% from the year-ago period. Even better, the company is forecasting an acceleration in its revenue growth over the remaining four fiscal years.
Specifically, Oracle expects its top line to hit $225 billion in fiscal 2030. That suggests Oracle is expecting its revenue to increase at a CAGR of almost 32% over the next five fiscal years, which would be a 4x improvement over the growth that it has clocked in the past five years. For some context, Oracle was earlier anticipating its top line to hit at least $104 billion in fiscal 2029, which means that it has significantly upgraded its forecast.
Additionally, the company is anticipating its non-GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) earnings per share to increase at a CAGR of 28% through the end of the decade, an improvement over the earlier estimate of at least 20% growth. At this rate, Oracle forecasts that its earnings could hit $21 per share by 2030.
Importantly, Oracle has the ability to indeed achieve its guidance for the next five years. That's because the demand for the company's cloud computing infrastructure is growing at an incredible pace. From enterprise customers to artificial intelligence (AI) companies to cybersecurity companies to telecom providers, several companies are tapping the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to run their workloads in Oracle's data centers.
This explains why the company's remaining performance obligation (RPO), which refers to the total value of its unfulfilled contracts at the end of a period, stood at a whopping $455 billion at the end of the previous quarter. That metric shot up by 359% from the year-ago period as the demand for OCI outpaced supply.
Even better, Oracle management says that its RPO is on track to jump over half a trillion dollars in the next few months on the back of more multibillion-dollar contracts. As it turns out, Oracle has signed $65 billion worth of new OCI contracts in the first month of the fiscal second quarter. That probably excludes the blockbuster five-year contract worth $300 billion that Oracle struck with OpenAI last month.
The size of this contract suggests that Oracle's RPO could now be well beyond the $800 billion mark. That should be enough to cover the cumulative revenue that Oracle is forecasting for the next five years.
Here's how much upside this AI stock can deliver
We have already gone over the growth that Oracle is expecting for the next five years, including its estimated revenue and earnings in 2025. Assuming that the company manages to indeed hit $21 per share in earnings after five years and trades at 28.5 times forward earnings at that time (identical to the tech-heavy Nasdaq-100 index's forward earnings multiple), its stock price could jump to $599.
That's 116% higher than Oracle's current stock price. What's worth noting is that the forward earnings multiple assumed above is at a significant discount to Oracle's trailing price-to-earnings ratio of 67. But if the market decides to reward Oracle with a premium valuation considering its ability to clock faster-than-projected growth, it could end up delivering bigger gains by 2030.
That's why investors looking to add a top AI stock to their portfolios can still buy Oracle, as it isn't done soaring yet.

Circular investing is becoming a problem again
One of the biggest contributors to the dot-com crash was circular investing. This occurred when one company invested in another in exchange for a product to accelerate the buildout of the internet. The idea was that as long as valuations remained elevated, this financing method would work and would eventually be followed by massive consumer demand that would subscribe to an internet service, making all of these investments worth it. However, valuations plummeted, sparking a massive sell-off in the stock market.
This is eerily similar to what's happening today. OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, is recognized as the leader in generative AI technology. It has announced multiple deals with Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA), AMD, Broadcom, and Oracle, and all of them are financed in a way that doesn't involve OpenAI paying cash (or taking out debt) that is backed by massive consumer or business demand. This is what's driving the fears of an artificial intelligence-driven stock market bubble.
The biggest trap that investors can fall into is "this time is different." However, I think there are a few key differences in this buildout versus the dot-com buildout that investors must be aware of.
Not every company would be affected by a crash
The AI hyperscalers are all spending a vast amount of money on AI infrastructure. However, if that were to stop suddenly, these companies wouldn't be affected by it. Take Alphabet for example. It gets the majority of its revenue through the Google Search engine. If the AI arms race were to come to a halt, its core business wouldn't be affected; it would just stop spending a large chunk of its cash flows on AI. The same could be said for Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta Platforms.
However, companies like Nvidia would be heavily affected, as the demand for its graphics processing units (GPUs) would no longer be there. As a result, not every big tech company would be harmed over the long term by a crash, even if its short-term stock price declines.
There's also the possibility that the AI arms race provides real economic value in a timeframe that is reasonable. The internet buildout eventually occurred in the decade following the dot-com crash and brought huge economic value to the world. However, it wasn't at the pace investors envisioned it occurring in the early 2000s. Time will tell, but with the pace of AI adoption in the business world and among consumers, I'd expect generative AI to continue providing tangible value over the next few years.
While I believe valuations are starting to get a bit frothy for some companies, especially in the private sector, we're still OK overall. Yes, the market is valued at all-time highs, which could limit return potential, but if the AI data center buildout trend continues like many projects (in the multitrillion-dollar range by 2030), there is still a ton of room for AI-related stocks to run. Furthermore, the AI hyperscalers mentioned above are all growing their revenue in the mid-double digits, and that's without any real benefit from AI.
Investors should be diligent in managing their cash balance and exposure to AI stocks, but running for the hills based on a few worries of Wall Street analysts is an irrational move.

Is the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Boom Turning Into a Bubble or Just Getting Started?

AMD’s data center business is growing rapidly.
A lot of that growth has been driven by its Instinct GPUs for data centers.
Its stock is a bit pricey, but it still has plenty of room to run.
When investors talk about artificial intelligence (AI) chips, they often mention Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA). It's the world's largest producer of discrete GPUs for data centers, where they're used to process complex AI tasks. Most of the world's top AI companies, including Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) and OpenAI, use its chips.
But Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) -- which controls a much smaller slice of the discrete GPU market -- has been gradually rolling out more data center GPUs to challenge Nvidia. Could this underdog chipmaker become the next big growth story in AI chips?

Is AMD an emerging threat to Nvidia's AI dominance?
Nvidia generates most of its revenue from discrete GPUs. AMD produces a wider range of x86 CPUs for PCs and servers, discrete GPUs, and APUs (accelerated processing units), which merge together a CPU and GPU on a single chip for smaller PCs and gaming consoles.
Nvidia dominates 94% of the discrete GPU market, according to JPR, while AMD only controls about 6%. In the past, AMD tried to keep pace with Nvidia by selling cheaper GPUs, which offered comparable performance but consumed more power. However, it eventually lost that advantage as Nvidia expanded its lineup of lower-end gaming GPUs for PCs.
AMD launched its first batch of Instinct GPUs for data centers (MI6, MI8, and MI25) back in 2017. However, it didn't make much of an impression in that market until it launched its MI300 Instinct GPUs -- which were built on TSMC's 5nm and 6nm nodes -- in late 2023.
AMD's top-tier MI300X actually beat Nvidia's older H100 GPU -- which is still widely used to process AI tasks -- in several industry benchmarks of raw processing power and memory bandwidth. Companies could also buy roughly four MI300 GPUs for the price of a single H100 GPU.
Nvidia's new H200 (Blackwell) GPU outperforms the MI300X for most AI tasks, but it's still roughly twice as expensive as AMD's MI300X GPUs. Some of AMD's MI300 chips are even APUs, which eliminate the need for stand-alone CPUs. Nvidia doesn't produce any x86 CPUs or APUs.
How fast is AMD's AI business growing?
AMD doesn't disclose its sales of Instinct GPUs separately. Instead, it groups them with its EPYC CPUs for servers in its data center segment. But over the past year, that core growth engine cooled off as its weight on AMD's top line declined.

That deceleration was caused by three major headwinds.
First, the Trump administration barred it from exporting its MI308 GPUs to China. Second, it faced intense competition from Nvidia's new H200 chips. Nvidia also reinforces its lead by locking its customers into its proprietary CUDA (Compute Unified Device Architecture) platform for writing GPU applications.
Lastly, AMD expects its sales of current-gen MI300X chips to cool off as it ramps up its production of its next-gen MI350 chips throughout the second half of 2025. Many of its potential customers won't buy its older chips when a newer version is right around the corner.
Don't ignore its potential catalysts
AMD's slowdown in the data center market was disappointing, but it's offsetting that pressure by selling more EPYC CPUs for servers, Ryzen CPUs for PCs, and Radeon GPUs for PCs. It's also still gaining ground against the struggling Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) in the x86 CPU market.
AMD recently secured massive AI deals with Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) and OpenAI. Oracle plans to install 50,000 AMD GPUs across its cloud infrastructure platform. OpenAI aims to deploy up to 6 gigawatts of AMD's CPUs in its data centers over the next few years, and it even acquired stock warrants that could eventually give it a 10% stake in the chipmaker. Those deals strongly indicate that Oracle and OpenAI are eager to curb their dependence on Nvidia.
If other AI giants follow that lead, Nvidia could gradually lose its edge against AMD. While AMD's Instinct chips aren't as powerful as Nvidia's Blackwell GPUs, they can be optimized to handle certain memory-intensive tasks more efficiently. Therefore, more companies might be willing to tweak their data centers to accommodate AMD's GPUs, instead of getting locked into Nvidia's prisoner-taking ecosystem of CUDA-optimized applications.
Could AMD become the next growth story in AI chips?
From 2024 to 2027, analysts expect AMD's revenue and earnings per share (EPS) to increase at a CAGR of 30% and 86%, respectively, as it overcomes its near-term challenges. Its stock isn't a bargain at 57 times next year's earnings, but the growth potential of its AI business justifies that higher valuation.
While AMD won't ever dethrone Nvidia as the top AI chipmaker, there could be plenty of room for both companies to thrive without trampling each other. So if AMD continues to expand its defensible niche of the AI market, it could certainly become the next big growth story in AI chips.

Suffice it to say, it has been essential to own a slice of companies like Nvidia, Microsoft, and Apple in order to keep pace with the broader market.

The Vanguard Information Technology ETF invests across 12 sub-segments of the information technology sector. Apple launched Apple Intelligence in partnership with OpenAI last year, which is a suite of AI-powered apps and features for its iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers. Apple Intelligence can summarize text messages and emails, create images on command, and prioritize notifications based on the preferences of each user. Apple has over 2.35 billion active devices worldwide, so it could become the most dominant consumer AI company in the world.
Microsoft and Oracle are two of the biggest buyers of data center chips and components which they use to develop their own AI software, but they also make money by renting the computing capacity to businesses. In fact, both companies are experiencing more demand for data center capacity than they can possibly supply, as businesses across all industries race to adopt AI.
Palantir is one of the best-performing stocks in the AI space, with a 300% gain over the past year alone. It developed two platforms called Gotham and Foundry, which use AI to help organizations extract value from their data. It also offers a third platform called AIP (Artificial Intelligence Platform), which allows organizations to connect their internal data to large language models (LLMs) so they can create AI applications.
Outside of its top 10 holdings, the Vanguard ETF holds many other powerhouse AI stocks. They include Adobe, Snowflake, Datadog, and cybersecurity giants Palo Alto Networks and CrowdStrike.
The Vanguard ETF has a great track record against the S&P 500
The Vanguard Information Technology ETF has delivered a compound annual return of 14.2% since it was established in 2004, comfortably outperforming the S&P 500, which climbed by 10.4% per year over the same period. However, given the ETF's high degree of exposure to volatile themes like AI, investors should avoid putting all of their eggs in one basket.
Instead, this Vanguard ETF is ideal for investors who might be overly exposed to more defensive areas of the market, like the financials, consumer staples, and real estate sectors which are known for paying high dividends, but tend to generate slower growth.
As I highlighted earlier, excluding the information technology sector from any portfolio tends to result in sluggish returns. Since AI is likely to remain a significant value creator in the coming years, investors who have minimal or no exposure to stocks like Nvidia, Apple, and Microsoft might want to buy the Vanguard Information Technology ETF right now.

Foolish take
When an investment firm decides to buy shares in a public company, the action suggests a bullish outlook. But the opposite isn't necessarily the case when shares are sold. For example, Ascent Wealth Partners' Q3 sale of Oracle stock could be for a number of reasons.
One likely explanation is profit taking. Oracle's shares have soared this year on the strength of its success in the hot artificial intelligence sector. The stock hit a 52-week high of $345.72 in September, nearly triple the low reached just a few months earlier in April.
The fact Ascent Wealth Partners sold some of its shares, but not all, suggests it was capturing its gains. Before the sale, Oracle stock was among the investment management company's top ten holdings. So Ascent could afford to trim its stake.
If you own Oracle stock, don't take Ascent's action as a sign to shed shares. The AI market is continuing to see massive expansion. Forecasts estimate the industry will grow from $255 billion in 2025 to $1.7 trillion by 2031. This growth provides a tailwind to Oracle's business, so the ideal approach is to hold on to the stock.

Shares of Toyota have outperformed the Zacks Automotive - Foreign industry over the year-to-date period (+5.1% vs. +4.9%). The company’s sales are getting a boost from the surge in hybrid adoption. The RAV4 model, with hybrid variants that make up about half of Toyota’s sales, is America's top-selling SUV.
Toyota aims to lower hydrogen costs by promoting its use in commercial vehicles. It plans to sell its hydrogen-powered units externally, encouraging broader adoption beyond its own fleet. By increasing overall hydrogen demand, the company expects economies of scale to drive down production costs.
However, Toyota expects its operating income for fiscal 2026 to decline year over year due to material prices, the impact of the forex rate and tariffs imposed by the U.S. government on vehicle and vehicle parts imports. Pretax profit is also expected to decline. Thus, the stock warrants a cautious stance.

Morgan Stanley’s shares have outperformed the Zacks Financial - Investment Bank industry over the year-to-date period (+28.8% vs. +28.7%). The company’s third-quarter 2025 results were aided by robust investment banking (“IB”) and trading performances. Morgan Stanley’s efforts to focus on wealth and asset management operations, inorganic expansion initiatives, and strategic alliances will keep aiding the top line.
The performance of the IB business is expected to be driven by a strong pipeline in the near term. However, expenses will remain elevated due to business expansion efforts. The uncertainty of the performance of the capital markets is a key near-term concern.
While trading revenues have been increasing, they are less likely to reach 2021 levels. Yet given a solid balance sheet, the company is expected to be able to enhance shareholder value through efficient capital distributions.
