Oracle Corporation was founded in 1977 and is headquartered in Austin, Texas.

Oracle appears to be a mature, profitable business with strong operating margins, but the market is already pricing in a very high level of quality. Revenue, EBITDA, operating income, and net income are growing year over year, which confirms the resilience of the model and supports the company’s valuation. Operating margin at around 30.6% and net margin at around 25.2% are noticeably above industry benchmarks, and ROE of nearly 49.5% also looks very strong. At the same time, efficiency trends are not accelerating: ROE and gross margin in recent periods have been declining rather than improving, which limits the potential for further multiple expansion. The balance sheet remains debt-heavy: debt/equity of 2.84 and long-term debt above 122 billion indicate a meaningful financial burden and increase sensitivity to interest rates and refinancing. Liquidity is moderate: a current ratio of 1.11 is acceptable, but the quick ratio is effectively zero, so working capital buffer does not look comfortable. In valuation terms, the company is expensive on revenue and book value: P/S and P/B are significantly above the industry median, indicating a premium for quality and growth expectations. P/E is below the industry median, but this does not look like a clear undervaluation because profitability is already high, while leverage and weak liquidity limit re-rating potential. P/FCF is zero, which makes this multiple largely uninformative and does not provide additional support for an aggressive target increase. Dividend yield is low and is not a strong driver of revaluation, although the fact that dividends are being paid does support the investment appeal for a long-term holder. Overall, the fundamentals support a moderately positive view of the company, but given the high starting valuation and debt profile, the potential upward revision of the target should be limited and conservative.

Oracle combines high profitability and revenue growth with a rich valuation and a significant debt burden, so the fundamentals support only a moderately positive view.

(RTTNews) - Oracle Corp. (ORCL) announced that Chairman and Chief Technology Officer Larry Ellison has cancelled his plan to sell up to 50 million shares of the company, valued at about $7.5 billion.
The reversal follows a regulatory filing on Friday, which showed the company had adopted a 10b5-1 trading plan on June 22, set to run until October 24.
"No Oracle stock was sold under that plan, and he has no other plans to sell any of his Oracle stock," the company said in a statement on Saturday.
ORCL closed at $150.28, down $2.66 or 1.74% as of September 11. In after-hours trading, the stock slipped further to $147.81, a decline of $2.47 or 1.64%.

Oracle (NYSE:ORCL) spent Thursday evening'searnings callputting numbers on something Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) investors usually have to take on faith. The software and cloud giant delivered 850 megawatts of artificial intelligence (AI) capacity to customers in its fiscal first quarter of 2027 (the period ended Aug. 31). That hardware contained more than 300,000 graphics processing units (GPUs). And Oracle's GPU fleet ran at 97.9% utilization, meaning nearly every chip was busy serving customers.
Most of those chips are Nvidia's. Oracle's cluster design for its biggest AI deployments connects hundreds of thousands of Nvidia GPUs, and its largest planned builds target up to 800,000 of them.

So while Nvidia didnt reportthis week, a company installing its chips by the hundreds of thousands just showed what demand for them looks like.

Deliveries nearly tripled, and the fleet stayed full
Underscoring how fast Oracle is building, the 850 megawatts it delivered was almost triple the prior quarter's total -- and 73% of everything it delivered in all of fiscal 2026. The company's campus in Abilene, Texas, which serves OpenAI, received 131,000 GPUs in the quarter. And revenue followed the hardware: Cloud infrastructure revenue rose 121% year over year to $7.4 billion. That growth is an acceleration from 93% in the fiscal fourth quarter and 77% for fiscal 2026 as a whole.
To me, utilization is the number to hold onto. A fleet can run full because its owner stopped adding capacity. Oracle's ran 97.9% full while capacity arrived at a record pace -- demand absorbed the hardware as fast as Oracle could install it.
Even more, customers keep lining up ahead of the supply. Oracle closed more than $30 billion of new AI contracts in the quarter. Its remaining performance obligations (contracted revenue it hasn't yet delivered) reached $664 billion, up $209 billion year over year.
Four-year-old chips are repricing higher
"Of all the GPUs that came up for renewal in Q1, that capacity was renewed or resold at a 20% premium to prior contracts," Oracle co-CEO Clay Magouyrk said on Thursday's call. "The majority of those GPUs are 4 years or older."
After all, computing hardware is supposed to get cheaper as it ages. GPUs that old predate Nvidia's Blackwell generation entirely, and with enough supply around, capacity like that would rent at a discount.
Instead, it repriced 20% higher. Prices tend to move that way when buyers can't get enough new hardware.
The revenue opportunity Nvidia sees per gigawatt of capacity is climbing a ladder of its own. A gigawatt of its older Hopper systems meant about $18 billion of revenue opportunity for Nvidia, chief financial officer Colette Kress said on the company's late-Augustearnings call Blackwell runs about $25 billion, and the new Vera Rubin platform is about $40 billion.
Customers paying a premium to keep 4-year-old chips arguably won't balk at those step-ups.
Does one crowded fleet prove a shortage?
Not on its own. Oracle's 97.9% covers one operator's fleet, not the industry's, and the company doesn't split the figure by chipmaker.
However, there's a second caveat. Oracle presells most of this capacity under long-term contracts (that $664 billion backlog). A full fleet partly reflects commitments customers made quarters ago.
But the seller's disclosures point the same way. Nvidia's revenue rose 106% year over year to $96.2 billion in its fiscal second quarter of 2027 (the period ended July 26). Data center revenue made up $89 billion of that.
Kress told analysts to expect about 70% revenue growth in fiscal 2028, with supply capping the figure. She also said Nvidia's compute was running fully utilized across every cloud it serves.
A vendor's assurance like that is easy to discount. Oracle just published the decimal.
The scale fits, too. At Kress's figures, Nvidia's $89 billion data center quarter works out to very roughly 3.5 gigawatts of systems. Oracle alone took delivery of 850 megawatts -- about a fourth of that pace. The comparison is loose (megawatts include far more than chips, and Oracle buys from more than one vendor). But it shows how much of this build-out one customer can absorb.
So, does Oracle's quarter prove a worldwide shortage? Proof is too strong a word for one company's fleet. Ultimately, though, I think it's the best customer-side evidence yet that what limits Nvidia is manufacturing capacity rather than appetite.
Nvidia shares trade around $220 as of this writing, about 8% below their 52-week high of $236.54, at about 28 times earnings. For a business whose 4-year-old products are repricing higher, I think that's a fair price, and I'd buy the stock here. If a future quarter shows Oracle's old GPUs repricing lower instead of higher, that will be an early sign the shortage is easing. This one showed the opposite.

Oracle's AI Chips Ran 97.9% Utilized Last Quarter. For Nvidia, That Is What a Shortage Looks Like.

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) on Friday rose by +0.86%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) rose by +0.98%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) rose by +0.91%. E-mini S&P futures (ESU26) rose +0.83%, and September E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQU26) rose +0.86%.
Stock indexes closed higher, supported by Friday’s -2.4% decline in oil prices. The stock market took Friday’s CPI report largely in stride, even as the 10-year T-note yield closed slightly higher and the odds of a Fed rate hike next week rose to 85%.

Friday’s Aug US CPI report of +0.4% m/m was in line with market expectations, but the core CPI report of +0.3% m/m was slightly stronger than market expectations of +0.2% m/m. On a year-on-year basis, the Aug CPI report of +3.4% y/y was unchanged from July and was in line with market expectations. Meanwhile, the Aug core CPI report of +2.4% y/y eased slightly from July’s +2.5% and posted a new 5.5-year low, and was in line with market expectations.
Friday’s CPI report caused the markets to raise the odds for a +25 bp FOMC rate hike at next week’s meeting on September 15-16 to 88% from 75% on Thursday.
Stocks were undercut by Friday’s weaker-than-expected US consumer sentiment report. The University of Michigan’s preliminary Sep US consumer sentiment index fell by -3.9 points to 47.8, weaker than market expectations for a -0.6 point decline to 51.3.
Also on the negative side, the University of Michigan reported that Sep US consumer 1-year inflation expectations rose to +4.6% from +4.0% in August, stronger than expectations of +4.2%. Sep consumer 5-10 year inflation expectations rose to +3.4% from +3.3% in August, and were stronger than market expectations of +3.3%.
The US-Canada trade war continues to weigh on stock market sentiment. On Tuesday, Canada imposed tariffs of 15% to 50% on hundreds of US goods in retaliation for the US action last month to impose 50% tariffs on $20 billion of imports from Canada. The US responded by blocking imports of some Canadian products and slapping new tariffs on others, and by seeking to bar Canadian companies from selling to US government contractors.
Oct WTI crude oil prices (CLV26) fell -2.4% on Friday, reversing part of Thursday’s +6.7% surge to a 3.5-month high. Oil prices still rose by a net +9% on the week, but fell on Friday after the International Energy Agency warned that high oil prices and restricted oil supply will cause the biggest drop in global oil demand this year since the Covid-19 pandemic.
There were reports that two ships were struck by unidentified projectiles near Oman on Thursday, presumably by Iran. Also, Axios reported that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called President Trump twice on Thursday, asking him to launch a new military attack against the Houthis in Yemen, who are gaining control of more territory in Yemen near the critical Bab el-Mandeb Strait and have been striking Saudi oil facilities. Saudi Arabia told OPEC on Thursday that its crude production in August fell to 6.238 million bpd, the lowest since 1990.
Overseas stock markets closed mixed on Friday. The Euro Stoxx 50 closed up +0.90%. China's Shanghai Composite closed down -1.18%. Japan's Nikkei-225 Stock Average closed down -1.91%.
Interest Rates
December 10-year T-notes (ZNZ6) fell by -7 ticks. The 10-year T-note yield rose +0.6 bp to 4.969%, following Thursday’s +11 bp surge to a 2.75-year high of 4.963%. T-note prices found support early in the session from lower oil prices but eventually succumbed to the hawkish CPI report and the higher odds of an FOMC rate hike next week. T-note prices had some underlying support as the 10-year breakeven inflation expectations rate fell -4.4 bp to 2.373%, down from Thursday’s 3.25-month high of 2.42%.
European government bond yields were mixed. The 10-year German bund yield today posted a new 24-year high of 3.532% and ended the day up +0.3 bp to 3.504%. The 10-year UK gilt yield edged to a 19-year high of 5.380% but ended the day down -3.1 bp to 5.343%.
Markets are discounting a 78% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at the ECB’s next meeting on October 29. The ECB at this week’s meeting raised its deposit facility rate by 25 bp to 2.50%, as expected, and said inflation will stay above 2% for an "extended period."
US Stock Movers
Oracle (ORCL) rallied +5% in Thursday’s overnight session on positive cloud news but then lost those gains and ended Friday down -1.7%. Oracle said late Thursday that its cloud infrastructure sales rose +121% to $7.4 billion, above the market consensus of $7.2 billion. Oracle’s co-CEO Clay Magouyrk said, “We are delivering data center and GPU capacity at a pace that would have seemed impossible only a year ago.” The company also said it sold more than $30 billion in AI cloud contracts during the latest quarter, higher than expectations. Fiscal-Q1 sales rose +30% and the adjusted EPS report of $1.92 per share was higher than market expectations of $1.75.
Chipmakers rose nearly across the board on Friday, and the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) rallied +1.75% on the day. ON Semiconductor (ON) rallied more than +8%. Analog Devices (ADI), NXP Semiconductors (NXPI), Arm Holdings (ARM), and Marvell (MRVL) all rallied more than +4%.
The Magnificent Seven all closed higher on Friday except for Nvidia (NVDA), which showed a small loss. Amazon.com, Alphabet (GOOGL), and Apple (AAPL) all rallied by more than +1%. Apple found continued support after releasing its new iPhone Duo earlier this week, its first foldable phone.
Microsoft (MSFT) rallied +0.65% after saying it plans a data center push to triple its computing power since a current shortage is forcing it to turn away new AI and cloud business.
Crypto stocks traded higher on Friday, supported by a +3.1% gain in Ethereum (^ETHUSD) and a +0.2% gain in Bitcoin (^BTCUSD). Mara Holdings (MARA) rallied more than +4%, Riot Platforms rallied more than +2%, and Strategy (MSTR)and Coinbase (COIN) rallied more than 1%.
Adobe (ADBE) closed up +1.4% despite slightly disappointing guidance, fueling concerns that AI will cannibalize software revenue.
Dell Technologies (DELL) rallied nearly +12% after RBC Capital Markets started research coverage with an outperform rating and $640 price target based on expectations for strong AI infrastructure demand.

Oracle (NYSE:ORCL) reported its fiscal first-quarter results (the period ended Aug. 31, 2026) after the market closed Thursday, and investors couldn't seem to make up their minds. Shares jumped more than 8% early Friday before giving nearly all of it back.
The stock traded around $154 as of this writing, up less than 1% for the day. Its 52-week high is $329.50, more than double today's price.

The report had plenty of big numbers. Revenue came in about 30% higher than a year ago, at $19.3 billion, and management raised its full-year earnings outlook. But to me, the most important thing said Thursday was a disclosure from co-CEO Clay Magouyrk about what happens when Oracle's early artificial intelligence (AI) contracts expire. The capacity is rerenting at higher prices.

Old chips are earning more, not less
The bear case against AI infrastructure rests on a simple worry: The graphics processing units (GPUs) filling data centers like Oracle's could lose their earning power within a few years, before the spending behind them ever pays off. On Thursday'searnings call Magouyrk gave the strongest answer to that worry Oracle has offered yet.
"Of all the GPUs that came up for renewal in Q1, that capacity was renewed or resold at a 20% premium to prior contracts," he said. "The majority of those GPUs are 4 years or older. We see a long useful life with increasing value for the AI capacity we are deploying."
In other words, Oracle's oldest chips aren't aging out of the fleet. They are earning more than they did under their original contracts. And if that pattern holds, the hardware could keep producing revenue for longer than skeptics seem to assume. Every extra year of earning power improves the return on each dollar Oracle spends.
Demand supports the claim. After all, the company booked more than $30 billion of new AI contracts during the quarter, pushing remaining performance obligations (contracted revenue the company hasn't yet earned) to $664 billion.
An accelerating quarter
Showing how quickly the AI business is scaling, Oracle's cloud infrastructure revenue rose 121% year over year to $7.4 billion in fiscal Q1, faster than the fiscal fourth quarter's 93%. Across all of fiscal 2026, the rate was 77%. Management now expects revenue of at least $90 billion this fiscal year and raised its guidance for non-GAAP (adjusted) earnings per share to $8.10, up from $8.05 in June. Growth like that is what the stock's believers have been paying for, of course. The harder part is what all of it costs.
So where's the profit?
Capital expenditures reached $28.5 billion in the quarter (more than the $21.2 billion Oracle spent in all of fiscal 2025), and free cash flow was negative $5.4 billion. To help pay for the build-out, the company sold the full $20 billion of stock under its at-the-market program during the quarter, adding to its share count.
The margin payoff, however, hasn't arrived. GPU utilization was 97.9% in the quarter, according to Magouyrk, and renewal prices are rising. Yet chief financial officer Hilary Maxson said gross margin declined as expected as new data centers ramp up, and that Oracle still expects $90 billion to $95 billion in capital spending this fiscal year.
Lower operating costs did the offsetting for now. Non-GAAP operating income rose 31% year over year, almost exactly in line with revenue.
And the chips renewing at a premium today are the small, early slice of the fleet. Nearly all of the new spending is buying new-generation capacity, and its own renewal test may be years away.
Still, the valuation has deflated along with the price. At around $154, the stock costs about 19 times the $8.10 in earnings per share management now expects -- at its 52-week high, it fetched roughly 41 times those same expected earnings.
So, should investors buy the stock on that disclosure? I don't think so -- not yet.
In short, the renewal pricing is arguably the most convincing answer the company has given to the fear that AI hardware wears out before it pays for itself. But one quarter of renewals on a small early fleet isn't proof the model works at the scale Oracle is now spending, and I'm not buying the stock at today's price.
If those 20% premiums start showing up as an expanding gross margin while the spending plan holds, I'd give the stock another look. That evidence isn't here yet.

Oracle’s AI-Driven Growth Is Just Getting Started
Given its size, Oracle’s revenue growth has been exceptional. Oracle’s total revenues reached $19.3 billion in the fiscal first quarter of 2027, up 30% year over year, according to the company’s Sept. 10 press release. Oracle’s revenues improved as customers continue to migrate from on-premises software to the cloud.
To put things into perspective, Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure (IaaS) revenues reached $7.4 billion, representing a 121% year-over-year increase, while cloud applications revenues reached $4.2 billion, up 10% year over year. This mix is promising, as Oracle’s SaaS business provides a steady recurring-revenue base, while the IaaS business positions the company to capitalize on the AI-driven growth opportunity.
Oracle remains optimistic about its revenue growth prospects. The company expects total revenues to increase by 30% to 34% in the fiscal second quarter of 2027 and reach at least $90 billion for the full fiscal year. This target seems achievable, as the company’s remaining performance obligation, or the revenues guaranteed by contracts that have yet to be recognized, reached $664 billion in the fiscal first quarter, up $209 billion year over year.
Additionally, Oracle’s non-GAAP operating income increased to $8.2 billion in the fiscal first quarter, up 31% year over year, driven mostly by strong demand in Cloud Infrastructure and Cloud Applications. With operating income growing much faster than revenues, Oracle is demonstrating that it is not only increasing sales but also becoming more profitable as it grows.
Oracle: Why ORCL Stock Is a Buy After Earnings
As reflected in the latest quarterly results, Oracle’s accelerating cloud and AI-driven growth, strong revenue visibility, and improving profitability provide the company with a solid foundation to grow. Meanwhile, AI infrastructure is becoming Oracle’s primary growth engine as demand for graphics processing units (GPUs) and cloud capacity surges.
Oracle generated $23 billion in operating cash flow in the fiscal first quarter, up 184% year over year. Is ORCL a Buy Following 121% IaaS Growth in Q1 Earnings?

Stock indexes are trading higher today, supported by today’s decline of more than -2% in oil prices. The stock and bond markets took today’s CPI report largely in stride. Aug core CPI came in at +0.3% m/m, slightly above market expectations of +0.2%, while nominal CPI was +0.4% m/m, in line with expectations. T-note prices are trading slightly higher, even though the markets raised the odds of a FOMC rate hike next week to 88% from 75% on Thursday.

Today’s Aug US CPI report of +0.4% m/m was in line with market expectations, but the core CPI report of +0.3% m/m was slightly stronger than market expectations of +0.2% m/m. On a year-on-year basis, the Aug CPI report of +3.4% y/y was unchanged from July and was in line with market expectations. Meanwhile, the Aug core CPI report of +2.4% y/y eased slightly from July’s +2.5% and posted a new 5.5-year low, and was in line with market expectations.
Today’s CPI report caused the markets to raise the odds for a +25 bp FOMC rate hike at next week’s meeting on September 15-16 to 88% from 75% on Thursday.
Stocks were undercut by today’s weaker-than-expected US consumer sentiment report. The University of Michigan’s preliminary Sep US consumer sentiment index fell by -3.9 points to 47.8, weaker than market expectations for a -0.6 point decline to 51.3.
Also on the negative side, the University of Michigan reported that Sep US consumer 1-year inflation expectations rose to +4.6% from +4.0% in August, stronger than expectations of +4.2%. Sep consumer 5-10 year inflation expectations rose to +3.4% from +3.3% in August, and were stronger than market expectations of +3.3%.
The US-Canada trade war continues to weigh on stock market sentiment. On Tuesday, Canada imposed tariffs of 15% to 50% on hundreds of US goods in retaliation for the US action last month to impose 50% tariffs on $20 billion of imports from Canada. The US responded by blocking imports of some Canadian products and slapping new tariffs on others, and by seeking to bar Canadian companies from selling to US government contractors.
Oct WTI crude oil prices (CLV26) are down more than -2% today, giving back part of Thursday’s +6.7% surge to a 3.5-month high. Oil prices are still sharply higher on the week, but fell back today after the International Energy Agency today warned that high oil prices and restricted oil supply will cause the biggest drop in global oil demand this year since the Covid-19 pandemic.
There were reports that two ships were struck by unidentified projectiles near Oman on Thursday, presumably by Iran. Also, Axios reported that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called President Trump twice on Thursday, asking him to launch a new military attack against the Houthis in Yemen, who are gaining control of more territory in Yemen near the critical Bab el-Mandeb Strait and have been striking Saudi oil facilities. Saudi Arabia told OPEC on Thursday that its crude production in August fell to 6.238 million bpd, the lowest since 1990.
Overseas stock markets are mixed. The Euro Stoxx 50 is up +0.66%. China's Shanghai Composite closed down -1.18%. Japan's Nikkei-225 Stock Average closed down -1.91%.
Interest Rates
December 10-year T-notes (ZNZ6) are up +1 tick. The 10-year T-note yield is down -3.1 bp to 4.932%, following Thursday’s +11 bp surge to a 2.75-year high of 4.963%. T-note prices shook off the CPI report and the higher odds of an FOMC rate hike next week and are trading higher on today’s decline in oil prices. The 10-year break-even inflation expectations rate is down -3.9 bp to 2.378%, falling back from Thursday’s 3.25-month high of 2.42%.
European government bond yields are mixed. The 10-year German bund yield today posted a new 24-year high of 3.532% and is up +1.1 bp to 3.512%. The 10-year UK gilt yield edged to a 19-year high of 5.380% but then backed off and is down -3.2 bp to 5.342%.
Markets are discounting a 78% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at the ECB’s next meeting on October 29. The ECB at this week’s meeting raised its deposit facility rate by 25 bp to 2.50%, as expected, and said inflation will stay above 2% for an "extended period."
US Stock Movers
Oracle (ORCL) is up +0.6% after reporting late Thursday that its cloud infrastructure sales rose +121% to $7.4 billion, above the market consensus of $7.2 billion. Oracle’s co-CEO Clay Magouyrk said, “We are delivering data center and GPU capacity at a pace that would have seemed impossible only a year ago.” The company also said it sold more than $30 billion in AI cloud contracts during the latest quarter, higher than expectations. Fiscal-Q1 sales rose +30% and the adjusted EPS report of $1.92 per share was higher than market expectations of $1.75.
The positive Oracle news boosted other cloud infrastructure stocks, with Applied Digital (APLD) up more than +2% and Coreweave (CRWV) up more than +1%.
Chipmakers are higher nearly across the board on the positive Oracle news, with TI (TXN), ON Semiconductor (ON), and Analog Devices (ADI) up more than +4%.
The Magnificent Seven are all trading higher today, led by gains of more than +2% in Apple (AAPL) and Alphabet (GOOGL). Apple is seeing continued support after releasing its new iPhone Duo earlier this week, its first foldable phone.
Microsoft (MSFT) is trading slightly higher after saying it plans a data center push to triple its computing power since a current shortage is forcing it to turn away new AI and cloud business.
Crypto stocks are trading higher due to today’s rally of about +2% in bitcoin. Mara Holdings (MARA) is up more than +7%. Strategy (MSTR)and Coinbase (COIN) are up more than +5%.
Adobe (ADBE) is little changed after providing slightly disappointing guidance, which fueled concerns that AI will cannibalize software revenue.
Dell Technologies (DELL) is up more than +10% after RBC Capital Markets started research coverage with an outperform rating and $640 price target based on expectations for strong AI infrastructure demand.

Cloud Infrastructure revenues (IaaS) surged 121% in USD and 120% in cc to $7.4 billion, marking a notable acceleration from the fiscal fourth quarter's 93% growth rate. Cloud Application revenues (SaaS) were $4.2 billion, up 10% in USD and 10% in cc.
Total cloud revenues (SaaS plus IaaS) surged 62% in USD and 61% in cc to $11.6 billion, demonstrating that cloud remains the dominant driver of Oracle's growth trajectory. Cloud revenues now represent 60% of total quarterly revenues, reflecting the significant shift in the business toward infrastructure and applications.
Software revenues were down 3% to $5.5 billion, reflecting customers' continued migration from on-premises software to the Cloud. Services revenues were $1.4 billion, up 5%, and Hardware revenues were $0.8 billion, up 15%.
Operating Details of Oracle
Oracle generated first-quarter GAAP operating income of $6.7 billion, up 57%, while non-GAAP operating income rose to $8.2 billion, up 31%, driven by strong revenue growth and the scale benefits from cloud infrastructure expansion.

ORCL's Balance Sheet & Cash Flow
Oracle's high operating income translated to a record fiscal first-quarter operating cash flow of $23 billion, up 184%. However, free cash flow was negative $5.4 billion for the fiscal first quarter as Oracle continued aggressive capital investment to support cloud infrastructure growth and customer demand.
Oracle completed a $20 billion at-the-market equity issuance during the fiscal first quarter, part of its previously disclosed capital investment program. The company spent $28.5 billion on capital expenditures during the quarter, reflecting the massive buildout of data center infrastructure. For fiscal 2027, Oracle expects capital expenditures to reach $90 to $95 billion, primarily for continued infrastructure expansion.
Total notes payable and borrowings stood at approximately $125.3 billion as of Aug. 31, 2026 (current portion of $7.6 billion and non-current portion of $117.7 billion). The board of directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of 50 cents per share of outstanding common stock, consistent with prior quarters.
Forward Guidance
Oracle provided the following forward-looking guidance for second-quarter fiscal 2027. Total Revenues are expected to grow from 30% to 34% in both cc and USD. Total Cloud revenues are expected to grow between 64% and 70% in cc and 65% and 71% in USD. Non-GAAP earnings per share are expected to be between $1.83 and $1.91 in cc and between $1.85 and $1.93 in USD.

Oracle Q1 Earnings Beat Estimates, Cloud Growth Accelerates

Oracle Corporation ORCL used its first-quarter fiscal 2027earnings callto emphasize cloud infrastructure delivery, RPO conversion and a higher full-year outlook while addressing capital intensity and execution. Management focused on converting contracted AI demand into revenues while preserving operating discipline.
Non-GAAP earnings of $1.92 per share exceeded the $1.74 Zacks Consensus Estimate. Revenues of $19.35 billion topped the consensus mark of $19.13 billion.
Oracle Corporation Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise
ORCL Raises Its Fiscal 2027 Revenue Bar
Chief financial officer Hilary Maxson said Oracle now expects fiscal 2027 revenues of at least $90 billion, representing growth of 34%, and non-GAAP earnings of $8.10 per share.
Maxson guided fiscal second-quarter total revenue growth to 30% to 34% and cloud revenue growth to 65% to 71% in U.S. dollars. Non-GAAP earnings are expected at $1.85 to $1.93 per share.
Maxson tied the higher full-year outlook to the execution and acceleration in the fiscal first quarter, with infrastructure capacity supporting revenue conversion.
Oracle Turns RPO Into Cloud Growth
Chief executive officer Clay Magouyrk said OCI delivered 850 megawatts of AI capacity and more than 300,000 GPUs since the end of the fiscal fourth quarter. GPU utilization reached 97.9% in the fiscal first quarter.
Maxson said remaining performance obligations increased $26 billion from the fiscal fourth quarter. Oracle expects about half of RPO to convert into sales over the next 36 months.
Magouyrk said all GPU capacity coming up for renewal was renewed or resold at a 20% premium to prior contracts, with most of those GPUs aging at least four years.
ORCL Frames CapEx Around New Funding Models
A Deutsche Bank analyst asked whether Oracle's capital spending could stay elevated beyond fiscal 2028 and when free cash flow would turn positive.
Magouyrk said supplier financing, customer prepayments and bring-your-own-hardware structures can support growth without requiring all capital to come from Oracle. Maxson reiterated fiscal 2027 CapEx of $90 billion to $95 billion and no more than $70 billion of net cash CapEx.
ORCL’s CFO gave no timetable for positive free cash flow. She said individual projects become strong free cash flow generators shortly after ramping, while growth spending will shape the broader trajectory.
Oracle Addresses Infrastructure Execution Risks
A Mizuho analyst asked about potential data center delays in New Mexico and Wisconsin and the risk to fiscal 2027 guidance.
Magouyrk said neither site affects Oracle's stated fiscal 2027 revenue or earnings outlook. He emphasized a broad project portfolio, phased capacity delivery and contingency planning rather than dependence on every site arriving exactly on schedule.
A Guggenheim analyst also questioned gross-margin pressure. Maxson said the infrastructure mix and data center ramp are lowering gross margin, but emphasized operating margin as the key value metric. She said investors could reasonably expect gross margin to flatten over the next couple of years.
ORCL Extends AI Across Apps and Data
Chief executive officer Mike Sicilia said SaaS revenues grew 10%, Fusion grew 14% and industry applications grew more than 20% in the fiscal first quarter. He said embedded AI is strengthening packaged applications rather than replacing them.
Sicilia said customers had more than 2,300 AI agents in production, up 90% sequentially, while agent executions nearly doubled to more than 3.5 million during the quarter.
Management also highlighted NetSuite Next and the Oracle AI Data Platform, which can build enterprise ontologies across hundreds of data sources. Sicilia said Oracle is deploying forward-deployed engineers to help customers move them into production faster.
Oracle Keeps Execution at the Center
CFO Maxson and CEOs Magouyrk and Sicilia focused on converting contracted demand into capacity, revenues and operating profit while managing the financing burden of infrastructure expansion.
The executives kept attention on data center delivery, gross-margin pressure and the timing of free cash flow recovery while maintaining the raised fiscal 2027 outlook.
