SS&C Technologies (SSNC) came out with quarterly earnings of $1.45 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.39 per share. This compares to earnings of $1.27 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.
This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of +4.32%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this financial services software maker would post earnings of $1.41 per share when it actually produced earnings of $1.44, delivering a surprise of +2.13%.
Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates four times.
SS&C Technologies, which belongs to the Zacks Computer - Software industry, posted revenues of $1.54 billion for the quarter ended June 2025, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 1.32%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $1.45 billion. The company has topped consensus revenue estimates four times over the last four quarters.
The sustainability of the stock's immediate price movement based on the recently-released numbers and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's commentary on the earnings call.

IGV, ADBE, MSTR, SNPS: ETF Outflow Alert

A handful of publicly traded companies, including SharpLink Gaming, have now embraced the Ethereum treasury company model.
Just like the Bitcoin treasury company model, it relies on raising money from investors to buy crypto.
It remains to be seen if a strategy created for Bitcoin will be just as successful for Ethereum.
Something very interesting is going on with Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) right now. Small, relatively unknown companies are starting to add Ether, the native coin of the Ethereum blockchain, to their balance sheets as part of a new strategy designed to lift their stock market valuations. And so far, it's working.
Case in point: during the past 30 days, shares of SharpLink Gaming (NASDAQ: SBET) are up a whopping 150% (as of July 18). SharpLink Gaming has attracted so much attention with its new crypto strategy that it's almost certain to attract other companies as well.

The Ethereum treasury company model
In a very short time, SharpLink Gaming has become the largest corporate holder of Ether coins on the planet. It now holds 280,706 coins, worth about $960 million at recent prices. To put that figure into perspective, that's more Ether than even the nonprofit Ethereum Foundation holds.
In early July, the company raised more than $400 million for its Ether war chest. After its latest buy in mid-July, it still has more than $250 million for future purchases, so it's likely that we'll be hearing more from SharpLink Gaming soon.
If this strategy sounds familiar, that's because the Ethereum treasury company model is a replica of the Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) treasury company model pioneered by Strategy (NASDAQ: MSTR), the company formerly known as MicroStrategy. The concept is very simple: Instead of using cash from operations to fund crypto purchases, you tap the capital markets for funding. Once you have this funding lined up, you go on a crypto buying spree.
All of this works as long as the price of the cryptocurrency continues to go up. We've seen this work with Bitcoin, because the price of Bitcoin -- aside from a few pullbacks here and there -- has mostly gone up during the past 24 months. The same might be said for Ethereum, which is up 7% in 2025 (as of July 18) after registering losses for much of the year. It remains to be seen if Ethereum can deliver the same type of performance as Bitcoin, which is up 30% in the same period.
The growth of Ethereum treasury companies
For now, only a handful of publicly traded companies have adopted this strategy. Two other notable examples are Bitmine Immersion Technologies (NYSEMKT: BMNR) and Bit Digital (NASDAQ: BTBT). Both announced their pivots to this model in June.
Now that the groundwork has been laid, it's easy to see how other companies could be tempted to jump in. The price of Ether is still only $3,600, which makes raising money from investors easier than raising money to buy Bitcoin at about $120,000. The lower barrier to entry is likely to be much more attractive for small-cap companies with relatively limited access to the capital markets.
Should you invest in Ethereum treasury companies?
Right now, I have mixed feelings about SharpLink Gaming, which is also a marketing partner for sports betting books and online casino operators. Just look at this chart, and you'll see why I think it's a risky gamble:
In mid-2025, the company's stock had been flatlining. Nothing it did could get its stock price up. Until, of course, it latched on to the idea of investing in Ethereum.
And I'm not very enthusiastic about Bitmine Immersion Technologies, either. Granted, it now has renowned investment strategist Tom Lee of Fundstrat as its chairman. That gives it a lot of power to reach out to investors for more capital.
But what in the world is a Bitcoin mining company doing buying Ether? It doesn't make any sense to me. We can ask the same about Bit Digital, which is now winding down its Bitcoin mining operations. How can you be an evangelist for Ethereum when your core DNA is rooted in Bitcoin?
That's why I'm starting to appreciate Strategy more and more these days. While Michael Saylor, the founder and executive chairman of the company, can be a bit over the top in his predictions, he's a strong evangelist for Bitcoin. I get the impression that, from the moment he wakes up to the moment he goes to bed, he's thinking about Bitcoin. That's the type of person I want running a crypto treasury company.
So before you invest in an Ethereum treasury company, make sure you do your due diligence. Only a small handful of them may ever turn into long-term plays worthy of your investment.

Prediction: SharpLink's Ethereum Move Is Just the Beginning

While meme coins will likely soar in value alongside Bitcoin and Ethereum, long-term investors should look elsewhere for upside.
All lights appear to be flashing green for the crypto market right now. Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) just hit a new all-time high of more than $123,000. New crypto legislation is making its way through Congress. And many are talking about "Stablecoin Summer."
In short, the stage could be set for a big year-end rally in the crypto market. Here are three cryptocurrencies that have the potential to soar during the next five months.

Of course, the obvious pick is Bitcoin. Historically, Bitcoin has always led the market higher. So if you think that the crypto market is headed higher, then you need to think about buying Bitcoin, which accounts for a whopping 62% of the total value of the crypto market.
Institutional demand for Bitcoin remains strong. Money is once again surging into the spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs). At the same time, new Bitcoin treasury companies are launching left and right. These companies, modeled after Strategy (NASDAQ: MSTR), the original Bitcoin treasury company, are amassing billions of dollars to buy Bitcoin.
Moreover, Bitcoin is getting plenty of attention from the Trump administration. In many ways, the price of Bitcoin has become a proxy for the overall health of the crypto market and the success of the Trump administration's pro-crypto policies.
During "Crypto Week," President Donald Trump specifically linked the success of crypto to his overall campaign theme of "Make America Great Again." So I'm fully expecting a new push for an enhanced Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, as well as other moves that could send Bitcoin higher in the second half of the year.
If there's any cryptocurrency that comes close to Bitcoin in terms of support from the Trump White House, it's Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH). If there is going to be a merger of traditional finance and blockchain finance, as many now expect, then Ethereum is going to be a big part of it.
Ethereum is still the go-to blockchain for decentralized finance (DeFi), where it holds a commanding 58% market share. Ethereum is also the primary blockchain for stablecoins, which have emerged as one of the hottest crypto success stories of the year. These are two areas of the crypto market that hold the highest appeal for Wall Street financial firms.
Keep in mind, though, that Ethereum is up less than 2% for the year (as of July 17). So Ethereum is much less of a slam dunk than Bitcoin. But there is one key development coming up soon that could light a fire under Ethereum, and that is the imminent passage of the Clarity Act.
The Clarity Act, which is one of the two pieces of legislation under review by Congress during "Crypto Week," provides specific guidance on how digital assets should be regulated. The thinking now is that the overall regulatory treatment will be very favorable, opening the door for institutions to offer a much broader array of crypto-related financial products. That could unlock even more demand for DeFi, thereby helping to push the price of Ethereum higher.
The one meme coin you should not buy
During any bullish cycle, crypto investors typically rotate into riskier and riskier investments, as they search for higher and higher returns. That usually means an embrace of meme coins, which are among the riskiest and most speculative cryptocurrencies out there. At the end of 2024, the same phenomenon occurred, as pro-crypto euphoria led to meme coin buying.
It's impossible to predict which meme coin will pop next, but it looks like Pudgy Penguins (CRYPTO: PENGU), the meme coin inspired by the Pudgy Penguins non-fungible token (NFT) collection, could lead the way. In the past week, Pudgy Penguins soared as much as 60%. That happened after Coinbase Global (NASDAQ: COIN) briefly changed its social media profile photo to a Pudgy Penguin. Crypto influencers and some crypto firms followed suit, showing their support for the meme coin.
I've written before about the perils of investing in dog-themed meme coins. Those warnings are even stronger for penguin-themed meme coins.
Buying priorities
If you are choosing which cryptocurrency to buy next, the clear choice is Bitcoin. If history is any guide, Bitcoin has the ability to perform well during periods of extreme market uncertainty. So, even if you are expecting market turmoil ahead due to tariffs, Bitcoin could provide a hedge. The same cannot be said for Ethereum, or any other altcoin.
There's no guarantee, of course, that Bitcoin will soar during the next few months. However, both Bernstein and Standard Chartered have recently come out with $200,000 price predictions for Bitcoin, so it definitely has the potential to double in value. If you're willing to accept the risks of investing in crypto, then Bitcoin could be a great way to turbocharge the performance of your portfolio in 2025.

3 Cryptocurrencies That Could Soar in the Second Half of 2025

Despite being the two largest cryptocurrencies in the world, Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) and Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) have been on very different paths this year. Bitcoin is up more than 26% (as of July 17), while Ethereum is up less than 2%.
Bitcoin is considered a bellwether for the industry, but this year has really diverged. This leaves investors with a difficult proposition when picking between the two: buy the asset that just went on a strong run and hit all-time highs, or the one that has underperformed and could close the gap as a value play? Which cryptocurrency is more likely to be a millionaire maker, Bitcoin or Ethereum?

Bitcoin: Digital gold and a flight to safety?
Bitcoin has soared since President Donald Trump won the election back in November. Trump positioned himself as a crypto advocate during his campaign, and he's held that position since taking office, with several Trump-backed organizations delving into the crypto world with their own crypto businesses.
Trump has surrounded himself with crypto advisors and installed pro-crypto officials in his cabinet, most notably at the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission (SEC). The SEC, which was a lot tougher on crypto during former President Joe Biden's administration, has since dropped or settled many of its landmark cases against major crypto firms, while removing regulations that impeded growth.
This has opened the door for the mainstream financial world to get more involved in crypto, whether it's offering custody services, more cryptocurrencies for sale on popular brokerages, or more willingness for institutions to buy and trade crypto.
Bitcoin, as the most well-known cryptocurrency, is an obvious place to start and therefore will likely benefit from these prices. Trump also announced the creation of a U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve that will hold Bitcoin already in custody by the U.S. government and look for budget-neutral ways to purchase more Bitcoin.
Bitcoin also seems to be benefiting as more investors view it as a form of digital gold and therefore a hedge against inflation, with its finite supply of a maximum of 21 million coins, of which 19.9 million have already been mined. Regular gold has ripped in recent years, as investors grow increasingly concerned about the country's finances. The U.S. government now holds more $36.5 trillion in debt and has accumulated a $1.34 trillion deficit thus far in fiscal year 2025 after running a $1.83 trillion deficit in fiscal 2024. Geopolitical uncertainty has also made gold and potentially Bitcoin more attractive.
Ethereum: Are the advantages real?
Ethereum does not offer the same digital gold proposition as Bitcoin, but investors have largely viewed it favorably. For one, the network became the go-to place for developers to build smart contracts -- agreements that self-executive when certain terms are met. Many developers have also built their own tokens like Shiba Inu on Ethereum's network.
Several years ago, many began to criticize the high energy usage of cryptocurrencies due to the proof-of-work mining consensus mechanism needed to validate and mint new blocks. Ethereum then executed a multiyear project to convert to a proof-of-stake system, in which Ethereum holders stake their tokens to have a chance to validate and mint new blocks. Through this process, investors could earn yield on their tokens being staked, leading some like Cathie Wood to suggest that Ethereum has "attributes" similar to that of U.S. Treasury bills.
However, Ethereum has long struggled with congestion issues on its network, and competitors like Solana seem to pose a rising challenge. Furthermore, Ethereum seems to have lagged this year due to some of the same challenges that tech stocks have encountered like high interest rates and geopolitical uncertainty.
On the plus side, several companies have begun deploying crypto treasury strategies for Ethereum similar to Michael Saylor's Strategy. Many like top investment strategist Tom Lee also see immense potential for the network due to the rise of stablecoins, which have become a popular topic of discussion since stablecoin issuer Circle went public earlier this year and saw its stock soar. The two largest stablecoins, Tether and USDC, are both hosted on Ethereum's network.
Which is more likely to make you a millionaire?
In my opinion, Bitcoin and Ethereum are really the only two cryptocurrencies that investors can safely buy and hold in their portfolios. Both are likely to remain somewhat volatile, and both offer strong use cases.
But if I had to pick one, I am still going to choose Bitcoin. Whether it turns out to be true or not, a sizable portion of investors believe Bitcoin is a form of digital gold and the token's resilience through market turbulence, as well as a decrease in volatility, largely supports this narrative. This makes Bitcoin unique in that it can offer a form of diversification.
Furthermore, BlackRock, the largest asset manager in the world, has said that it's OK to allocate as much as 2% of a multi-asset portfolio to Bitcoin, which could make it a more common holding in the typical portfolio. Again, I think it's perfectly fine to own Ethereum, but Bitcoin really seems like it has achieved a level of acceptance that few, if any, cryptocurrencies will be able to replicate.

Michael Saylor turned his software company, formerly MicroStrategy, into the world's largest Bitcoin treasury company over the last few years.
Saylor says Bitcoin is headed for an eye-popping $273 trillion valuation by 2045, but that prediction will run into some serious challenges.
Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) was founded in 1994 to sell books using the internet, and it quickly became an e-commerce pioneer which now offers more than 600 million different products. Its expansion into other businesses like cloud computing, streaming, and digital advertising helped catapult the company's valuation to an eye-popping $2.4 trillion.
But last Monday (July 14), Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) briefly surpassed $2.4 trillion in market capitalization when the value of a single coin rocketed past $123,000. The cryptocurrency was introduced in 2009, so it reached the milestone even faster than Amazon, which is remarkable for an asset that doesn't produce any revenue or earnings. Furthermore, Bitcoin is now worth more than Alphabet, Meta Platforms, and even Tesla.

Bitcoin might still have room to run. Strategy's (NASDAQ: MSTR) Michael Saylor predicts that the price of a single coin could top $13 million by 2045, translating to a whopping 10,500% upside from Monday's peak. How realistic is that target? Read on to find out.
Saylor says Bitcoin will transform the global financial system
So far, Bitcoin hasn't proven to be very useful as a currency because of its high volatility relative to traditional currencies like the U.S. dollar. But a growing number of investors consider it to be a good store of value for the following reasons:
Bitcoin has a capped supply of 21 million coins, so it's a scarce asset, similar to gold.
It's fully decentralized, so it isn't controlled by any person, company, or government.
It's built on a secure, and publicly verifiable system of record called the blockchain.
Saylor, who founded the software-turned-Bitcoin treasury company formerly known as MicroStrategy, believes that "tokenizing" every physical asset in the world onto the blockchain would create transparency and also solve some of the inefficiencies in the current financial system. For instance, buying real estate comes with high legal fees because most properties have an opaque history that requires tedious research to uncover. But if we placed every real estate transaction on the blockchain, records would suddenly become transparent and verifiable by any prospective buyer.
Saylor says he thinks Bitcoin would be the perfect reserve asset for the tokenization process because of its decentralized nature. This means Bitcoin would be the currency everybody uses to buy, sell, or transfer tokenized assets. Therefore, anyone who wants to participate in this new financial system will have to use the cryptocurrency at some point, creating an organic source of demand that could drive its price higher.
Bringing Saylor's vision to life won't be easy because it will require global cooperation. But President Donald Trump has a very pro-crypto agenda, so the world might follow if the U.S. government were to lead the way by creating a legal framework with rules and standards.
$13 million per Bitcoin implies a sky-high (and potentially unrealistic) valuation
According to Saylor, there are about $500 trillion in global assets eligible for tokenization. He believes they can be shifted onto the blockchain by 2045, which would create enough demand to send the price of a single Bitcoin soaring to $13 million. That would be a whopping 10,500% increase from Monday's peak of about $123,000.
However, $13 million per Bitcoin would translate to a fully diluted market capitalization of $273 trillion (based on its total supply of 21 million coins). That means the cryptocurrency would be worth a whopping nine times more than the output of the entire U.S. economy, which was $29.7 trillion last year. It would also be 66 times more valuable than Nvidia, which is currently the world's largest company thanks to its market cap of $4.2 trillion.
As a result, I think Saylor's target is unrealistic. Even if his vision became reality and all of the world's assets were tokenized onto the blockchain, Bitcoin would only soar in value if every person held on to their coins after selling an asset. As I alluded to earlier, Bitcoin isn't a great everyday currency. Only 6,600 merchants worldwide accept it as payment for goods and services (according to crypto directory Cryptwerk), so people would have to convert their coins back to fiat currency to carry on with their lives.
Therefore, the pool of people who are purchasing Bitcoin to acquire an asset would be met with an almost equal number of sellers, leading to a potentially neutral -- not increasing -- value.
Could Bitcoin eventually become a widely adopted currency?
In my opinion, Bitcoin will never be a true global currency. Every economy operates at a different speed, which is why some countries have stronger fiat currencies than others. Australia and Vietnam have much weaker currencies than economic powerhouses like the U.S., which helps them compete on the global stage by making their exports more attractive to larger trading partners.
If every country adopted Bitcoin, the smallest economies would be thrust onto a level playing field with the likes of the U.S., which would damage their exports and dent their citizens' quality of life. This is one reason several countries might be inclined to reject Saylor's plan for tokenization on a global scale.
But that doesn't mean Bitcoin is a bad investment right now. The total value of all above-ground gold reserves currently stands at $22.4 trillion, so that could be a realistic target for Bitcoin's market cap if a growing number of investors continue to view it as a legitimate store of value. It would result in a price-per-Bitcoin of $1,066,000, implying a potential upside of about 770% from Monday's peak.
There's no guarantee that this scenario will play out, but I think it has a better shot at becoming reality than Saylor's forecast. After all, it's important to remember that Strategy owns 601,550 Bitcoin worth about $71 billion, so Saylor has a very big incentive to issue bullish predictions.

New Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) treasury companies are being launched left and right. They are all trying to emulate the success of Strategy (NASDAQ: MSTR), the company formerly known as MicroStrategy, which now has an impressive track record of outperforming Bitcoin.
Case in point: Strategy stock is up 50% this year, while Bitcoin is up 30%. Imagine being able to capture that level of outperformance year after year. In theory, investing in a Bitcoin treasury company such as Strategy will speed up your timeline to becoming a millionaire. But is that really the case?

The track record of Strategy
To answer that question, it's important to examine the track record of Strategy to understand just how big the performance gap has been over the past few years. The numbers really are incredible.
Here's a side-by-side comparison of Strategy and Bitcoin, starting from August 2020. That's when Strategy started its Bitcoin buying spree. At a glance, it becomes obvious that sometime around January 2024, investing in Strategy became a better buy than investing in Bitcoin.
Over the past five years, Strategy is up 3,422%. In comparison, Bitcoin is "only" up 940%. So you can start to see why some people are now referring to Strategy as a potential millionaire maker. At the same time, multimillionaires are now launching their own Bitcoin treasury companies in the hope of becoming billionaires.
The secret to outperforming Bitcoin
By now, you're probably wondering: "OK, so what's the catch?" This just seems too easy. Maybe money really does grow on trees.
Here's the catch: Companies like Strategy are using a mix of debt and leverage to outperform Bitcoin. Some have referred to them as ultra-leveraged Bitcoin funds. This strategy only works when the crypto's price is rising, the cost of capital is relatively cheap, and market sentiment is positive.
That describes the situation we're in now. In November, the price of Bitcoin was $69,000. Today, it's $122,000. Interest rates are no longer near zero, but they are still relatively low from a historical perspective, so the rates that companies must pay on their debt is also relatively low.
And market sentiment, emboldened by all the pro-crypto moves of the Trump administration, is also positive right now. Some even think that the digital coin is about to go on an epic bull-market run that will take it to $200,000 by the end of the year.
But what if all this changes? The ability to raise new money to buy more Bitcoin is only possible if its price continues to move up. Moreover, if financing costs rise, then that imposes an even greater burden on these Bitcoin treasury companies to keep the flywheel going. In a worst-case scenario, they might need to sell some of their tokens to make scheduled payments.
A Bitcoin treasury company bubble?
It's getting to the point where CNBC has warned this could be a bubble in the making: "The rush into Bitcoin treasuries -- inflated by cheap capital, yield promises, and brand name endorsements -- is starting to resemble a bubble."
This comes after an unprecedented amount of capital has been raised to buy Bitcoin this year. Nearly every week, it seems, some new company is being launched out of nowhere and announcing a plan to buy hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of the crypto. It's becoming hard to keep track of how many companies are now transforming into Bitcoin treasuries.
There are pure plays on this idea, such as Strategy, that do nothing but buy and hold Bitcoin. There are hybrid treasury companies, which are now amassing huge amounts of it to complement other business operations.
And then there are the treasury companies that claim to have plans to do things with all of that cryptocurrency on their balance sheet, such as creating new Bitcoin lending products for consumers.
What has me concerned right now is that some publicly traded companies with failing business models are also embracing the digital coin. They are obviously facing pressure from shareholders to turn things around, so they are transforming into hybrid Bitcoin treasury companies.
As long as the price continues to go up, then this makes sense from a shareholder value perspective. However, some analysts have compared this new mania to the dot-com mania.
Should you buy Bitcoin or a Bitcoin treasury company?
So buyer beware. If you are going to invest in a Bitcoin treasury company, make sure you understand the risks involved. The best companies are those that have a significant cash cushion and as little debt as possible, in case the crypto's price heads south.
Remember: These companies typically have no core operating business to produce cash flow. They depend on continually tapping the capital markets for more money, to support their buying habit.
In the short term, I can see how an investment in one of these new treasury companies could speed up the path to becoming a millionaire. But over the medium to long term, I still think holding Bitcoin directly is the ultimate millionaire-maker strategy. There are fewer variables to worry about, and less that could possibly go wrong.
