GameStop Corp., a specialty retailer, provides games and entertainment products through its stores and ecommerce platforms in the United States, Canada, Australia, and Europe. The company sells new and pre-owned gaming platforms; accessories, such as controllers, gaming headsets, and virtual reality products; new and pre-owned gaming software; and in-game digital currency, digital downloadable content, and full-game downloads. It sells collectibles comprising apparel, toys, trading cards, gadgets, and other retail products for pop culture and technology enthusiasts, as well as engages in the digital asset wallet and NFT marketplace activities. The company operates stores and ecommerce sites under the GameStop, EB Games, and Micromania brands; and pop culture themed stores that sell collectibles, apparel, gadgets, electronics, toys, and other retail products under the Zing Pop Culture brand, as well as offers Game Informer magazine, a print and digital gaming publication. The company was formerly known as GSC Holdings Corp. GameStop Corp. was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Grapevine, Texas.

SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPCX), the aerospace and AI company founded by Elon Musk, will go public on June 12. It's set the IPO price at $135 per share and aims to raise $75 billion, valuing the company at about $1.77 trillion and making it the biggest IPO in history.
The IPO is already more than four times oversubscribed, suggesting it will start trading at an even higher price. So what could a $10,000 investment in SpaceX's IPO be worth in a year?

The biggest problems with SpaceX's IPO
At its target valuation, SpaceX would trade at 95 times its 2025 revenue of $18.67 billion. That represented 33% growth from 2024, but it's still a lofty price-to-sales ratio.
SpaceX generates most of its revenue and all of its operating profits from Starlink. Its space division, which produces its Falcon rockets, is still unprofitable. Last year, SpaceX squeezed out a profit by using Starlink's profits to offset the space division's losses.
But this year, it integrated xAI (which owns X and Grok) into SpaceX as its new AI division. The AI division's massive losses ($4.3 billion in the first quarter of 2025) wiped out Starlink's profits. SpaceX plans to ramp up its AI investments after its public debut, which implies it will remain unprofitable for the foreseeable future. That's probably why it's so eager to raise fresh cash.
SpaceX is also offering less than 5% of its shares in its IPO, which shields Musk from big investors and allows him to maintain an 82% voting stake in the company. It's also allocating up to 30% of its shares to retail investors -- which indicates it's intentionally targeting the same "meme stock" investors that gobbled up stocks like GameStop.
How much will a $10,000 investment in SpaceX grow?
All of these issues are preventing me from chasing SpaceX's IPO. Instead, I think it's smarter to stick with its smaller peers -- like AST SpaceMobile and Rocket Lab -- until the smoke clears.
I believe SpaceX's stock will briefly skyrocket after its public debut, but then pull back as its IPO investors flip it for a quick profit. After that, the stock will likely stagnate and slump lower as it's revalued at a more sustainable price-to-sales ratio.
Let's assume SpaceX grows its revenue by 30% to $24.3 billion in 2026 and by another 30% to $31.5 billion in 2027. Even if it trades at a frothy 50 times its current-year sales by June 2027, its market cap would still be only $1.58 trillion -- an 11% decline from its target valuation.
Therefore, I expect a $10,000 investment in SpaceX's IPO to be worth less in a year. It might eventually bounce back, but too much growth has already been baked into its stock.

GameStop Stock Analysis: Buy or Sell?

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) on Wednesday closed down -0.74%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) closed down -1.21%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) closed down -0.29%. June E-mini S&P futures (ESM26) fell -0.78%, and June E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQM26) fell -0.32%.
Stock indexes retreated on Wednesday, with the Nasdaq 100 falling from a new record high. The broader market was under pressure on Wednesday as the US and Iran clashed overnight, sending WTI crude oil prices up more than +2% to a 1.5-week high and putting peace plans in doubt. In addition, weakness in software companies, cybersecurity, and private credit stocks on Wednesday weighed on the overall market.

Crude oil price jumped more than +2% on Wednesday after US forces intercepted Iranian ballistic missiles and drones aimed at neighboring Gulf states, escalating tensions and reducing chances that the Strait of Hormuz will open any time soon. The Tasnim news agency reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that “Communications between Iran and the US have not been cut off, but no tangible progress has been achieved in the negotiating process.”
On the positive side, AI-infrastructure spending continues to support technology stocks. Marvell Technology rose more than +3% on Wednesday, adding to Tuesday’s 32% surge, to lead chipmakers higher after Nvidia CEO Huang predicted the company would be the next to hit a $1 trillion valuation, more than five times its current market capitalization.
Signs of strength in the US economy are also supportive of stocks after Wednesday’s reports showed the May ADP employment change, the May ISM services index, and Apr factory orders rose more than expected.
The US May ADP employment change rose 122,000, slightly stronger than expectations of 120,000 and the biggest increase in 16 months.
The US May ISM services index rose +0.9 to 54.5, stronger than expectations of 53.8. The May ISM services prices paid sub-index rose +0.6 to a 3.75-year high of 71.3, although below expectations of 72.3.
US Apr factory orders rose +4.8% m/m, stronger than expectations of +4.6% m/m and the largest increase in 11 months.
US MBA mortgage applications fell -2.5% in the week ended May 29, with the purchase mortgage sub-index down -2.9% and the refinancing mortgage sub-index down -2.3%. The average 30-year fixed rate mortgage fell -8 bp to 6.57% from 6.65% in the prior week.
The Fed Beige Book was hawkish, stating slight to moderate economic growth across most Fed districts through May 27, with employment little changed and most of the 12 Fed districts reporting higher inflation than in the previous report.
New York Fed President John Williams said, "Monetary policy is exactly in the right place. I don't see any need to raise or lower interest rates right now."
The markets are discounting a 3% chance of a +25 bp rate hike at the next FOMC meeting on June 16-17.
The generally favorable Q1 earnings season is winding down. As of Wednesday, 84% of the 485 S&P 500 companies that reported Q1 earnings have beaten estimates. Q1 S&P 500 earnings are projected to climb +12% y/y, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. Stripping out the technology sector, Q1 earnings are projected to increase around +3%, the weakest in two years.
Overseas stock markets settled mixed on Wednesday. The Euro Stoxx 50 closed down -0.89%. China's Shanghai Composite closed up +0.22%. Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rallied to a new record high and closed up +2.50%.
Interest Rates
September 10-year T-notes (ZNU6) on Wednesday closed down -8 ticks, and the 10-year T-note yield rose +4.6 bp to 4.489%. T-note prices were under pressure on Wednesday amid an escalation of US-Iran tensions, which lifted WTI crude oil by more than +2% to a 1.5-week high, boosting inflation expectations. T-notes added to their losses on Wednesday after US economic reports showed the May ADP employment change, the May ISM services index, and Apr factory orders rose more than expected, hawkish factors for Fed policy. The Fed Beige Book also reported rising inflation pressures and was bearish for T-notes.
European government bond yields moved higher on Wednesday. The 10-year German Bund yield climbed to a 1.5-week high of 3.042% and finished up +6.0 bp to 3.035%. The 10-year UK gilt yield rose to a 1.5-week high of 4.939% and finished up +7.2 bp to 4.931%.
The Eurozone May S&P composite PMI was revised upward by +1.0 to 48.5 from the previously reported 47.5.
Eurozone Apr PPI rose +4.9% y/y, right on expectations and the fastest pace of increase in more than 3 years.
The UK May S&P services PMI was revised upward by +1.4 to 49.3 from the previously reported 47.9.
Swaps are discounting a 98% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on June 11.
US Stock Movers
Software stocks sold off on Wednesday, pressuring the broader market. Datadog (DDOG), Atlassian Corp (TEAM), and ServiceNow (NOW) closed down more than -7%, and International Business Machines (IBM) closed down more than -6% to lead losers in the Dow Jones Industrials. Also, Palantir Technologies (PLTR) closed down more than -6%, and Oracle (ORCL) closed down more than -5%. In addition, Salesforce (CRM) closed down more than -4%, and Autodesk (ADSK) and Intuit (INTU) closed more than -3%. Finally, Microsoft (MSFT) and Adobe Systems (ADBE) closed down more than -2%, and Workday (WDAY) closed down more than -1%.
Cybersecurity stocks retreated on Wednesday, led by a -7% decline in Okta (OKTA) and a -6% decline in Zscaler (ZS). Also, Palo Alto Networks (PANW) closed down more than -5% despite reporting better-than-expected Q3 earnings, as it failed to meet elevated buy-side expectations. In addition, Cloudflare (NET) and CrowdStrike Holdings (CRWD) closed down more than -2%, and Fortinet (FTNT) closed down more than -1%.
Private credit stocks faltered on Wednesday as the 17% redemption requests for Cliffwater’s private credit fund weighed on alternative asset stocks. Carlyle Group (CG) closed down more than -4%, and Ares Management (ARES), KKR & Co (KKR), Blackstone (BX), and Blue Owl Capital (OWL) closed down more than -3%. Also, Apollo Global Management (APO) and BlackRock (BLK) closed down more than -2%.
Chipmakers and AI-infrastructure stocks rallied on Wednesday, providing support to the overall market. Sandisk (SNDK) closed up more than +6% to lead gainers in the Nasdaq 100, and Western Digital (WDC) closed up more than +5%. Also, Intel (INTC), Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and ON Semiconductor (ON) closed up more than +4%,and Analog Devices (ADI), KLA Corp (KLAC), and Qualcomm (QCOM) closed up more than +3%. In addition, Applied Materials (AMAT), ARM Holdings Plc (ARM), and Lam Research (LRCX) closed up more than +2%.
Global Payments (GPN) closed down more than -8% after Susquehanna cut its price target on the stock to $111 from $119, noting that Middle East travel exposure will remain a “burden.”
Ulta Beauty (ULTA) closed down more than -4% after analysts noted the company’s annual guidance implies the outlook for the second half of the year is weaker than expected.
Gitlab (GTLB) closed down more than -2% after announcing that it will cut about 14% of its workforce and exit 22 countries as part of a restructuring.
Medtronic Plc (MDT) closed up more than +6% after reporting Q4 revenue of $9.81 billion, above the consensus of $9.64 billion.
GameStop (GME) closed up more than +6% after reporting Q1 net sales rose +14% y/y to $835.3 million and said its board of directors approved a $2 billion share repurchase authorization.
Meta Platforms (META) closed up more than +4% after announcing it is selling access to an artificial intelligence agent called Meta Business Agent, which will chat with a business’s customers over WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram.
Marvel Technology (MRVL) closed up more than +3% today, adding to Tuesday’s +32% surge, after Nvidia CEO Huang predicted that the company will be the next to hit a $1 trillion valuation, more than five times its current market capitalization.
Sherwin-Williams (SHW) closed up more than +1% after the company and Nippon Paint abandoned efforts to jointly acquire Akzo Nobel.

Stocks Retreat as US-Iran Peace Hopes in Doubt

Key Points
The S&P 500 is trading above 30 times earnings for the first time in five years.
Rising interest rates killed its previous rally, which peaked in late 2021 and early 2022.
But this time around, interest rates are high, and AI stocks are doing the heavy lifting.
The S&P 500 has rallied about 80% over the past five years and is hovering near its all-time high. However, it's also trading at 33 times its trailing earnings, which is much higher than its historical average of 20-21 times earnings. In fact, the last time the S&P 500 traded above 30 times earnings was early 2021, when historically low interest rates, stimulus checks, and social media buzz sparked a buying frenzy in meme and hypergrowth stocks.
So does the S&P 500's historically high multiple indicate it's time to brace for a market crash? Let's see what happened five years ago and whether history will repeat itself.

What happened in 2021?
Five years ago, the growth of commission-free trading platforms like Robinhood, a rising interest in meme stocks like GameStop on social media platforms such as Reddit, and a contagious "fear of missing out" drove millions of retail investors into the stock market. Near-zero interest rates amplified those gains by forcing investors to seek higher returns beyond traditional CDs and savings accounts.
During that period, the massive rallies in GameStop and other meme stocks drove many investors to buy other hypergrowth stocks trading at sky-high valuations. That rising tide drove the S&P 500 to multi-year highs, even as many analysts warned the gains were unsustainable.
By Jan. 1, 2021, the S&P 500 was trading at nearly 40 times its trailing earnings. Its price-to-earnings ratio actually declined throughout the rest of the year, but the index still rallied 27% to a new record high on Dec. 30, 2021.
That might seem like a contradiction, but the surge in post-pandemic spending in 2021 distorted its valuation. That recovery boosted the S&P 500's corporate earnings so much that it actually justified the index's higher price and reduced its price-to-earnings ratio. However, that overheating economy -- along with Russia's invasion of Ukraine in early 2022 -- caused severe inflation. To tame inflation, the Fed raised its rates 11 times in a row in 2022 and 2023.
Those rate hikes drove investors from riskier stocks toward more conservative investments, ending the meme stock rally and quickly chilling the S&P 500's valuations. By the end of the third quarter of 2022, the S&P 500's trailing P/E ratio had shrunk to 19. The index had also pulled back 25% from its record highs in early 2022, putting it firmly in a bear market.
What's different in 2026?
Today, the S&P 500's valuations look as frothy as they did in 2021, but its catalysts are different. Most of the index's rally over the past five years was driven by Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA), its Magnificent Seven peers, and other AI-driven tech giants. The gains from those stocks masked the slower growth of sectors more exposed to macro headwinds.
Back in 2021, there were only six trillion-dollar companies. Today, there are 14. Nvidia was only worth $735 billion. Now, it's worth $5.2 trillion and the world's most valuable company.
Some analysts claim those soaring valuations are "decoupling" the trillion-dollar companies from the rest of the S&P 500. They're also distorting the valuations of the other S&P 500 companies.
Interest rates are also much higher than they were in 2021. The Fed cut its benchmark rate six times in 2024 and 2025, but it's still at 3.50%-3.75%. Since it's easy for investors to get decent yields through CDs, savings accounts, and fixed-income investments, there isn't a burning need to chase higher-growth or higher-yielding stocks.
Historical returns aren't reliable right now
After the S&P 500's P/E ratio peaked in 2021, the index rallied through the end of 2021, stagnated throughout 2022 and 2023, but hit fresh highs in 2024, 2025, and 2026.
However, past performance never guarantees future gains -- and the S&P 500's situation is completely different today. If the AI boom continues and propels Nvidia and its Magnificent Seven peers to fresh highs, the S&P 500's valuations could expand further.
But if AI spending abruptly declines and those leaders lose their momentum, the S&P 500's valuations could quickly drop back to their historical averages. Therefore, investors shouldn't assume the S&P 500 will pull back simply because it's trading at over 30 times earnings again. But over the long term, investing in the S&P 500 through a simple ETF -- like the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (NYSEMKT: VOO) -- should still pay off as the U.S. economy keeps growing.

Stocks Fall on Escalation of US-Iran Hostilities

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) today is down -0.57%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) is down -0.58%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) is down -0.60%. June E-mini S&P futures (ESM26) are down -0.50%, and June E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQM26) are down -0.52%.
Stock indexes are under pressure today, with the Nasdaq 100 falling from a new record high. The broader market is under pressure today as the US and Iran clashed overnight, sending WTI crude oil prices up more than +1% to a 1.5-week high. Shortly after disabling an empty oil tanker heading back to Iran, the US military said it came under missile and drone attacks as Iran targeted the US’s Bahrain naval base and the Ali Al-Salem airbase in Kuwait. US forces struck a communications tower on the Iranian island of Qeshm near the Strait of Hormuz as part of the skirmishes. In addition, weakness in software companies and private credit stocks today is weighing on the overall market.

On the positive side, AI-infrastructure spending continues to support technology stocks. Marvell Technology is up more than +6% today, adding to Tuesday’s 32% surge, to lead chipmakers higher after Nvidia CEO Huang predicted the company would be the next to hit a $1 trillion valuation, more than five times its current market capitalization.
Signs of strength in the US labor market are also supportive of economic growth and stocks, after the May ADP employment change rose 122,000, slightly stronger than expectations of 120,000 and the biggest increase in 16 months.
US MBA mortgage applications fell -2.5% in the week ended May 29, with the purchase mortgage sub-index down -2.9% and the refinancing mortgage sub-index down -2.3%. The average 30-year fixed rate mortgage fell -8 bp to 6.57% from 6.65% in the prior week.
The markets are discounting a 3% chance of a +25 bp rate hike at the next FOMC meeting on June 16-17.
The generally favorable Q1 earnings season is winding down. As of today, 84% of the 485 S&P 500 companies that reported Q1 earnings have beaten estimates. Q1 S&P 500 earnings are projected to climb +12% y/y, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. Despite the lower sales volume, the company reported net income of $418.4 million. This resulted in a net margin of approximately 11.5%, a substantial improvement from its performance in previous fiscal years.
As of its January 2026 balance sheet, the debt-to-equity ratio is roughly 0.8x, showing that total debt is well below the value of shareholder equity. The current ratio stands at a very high 15.3x, indicating the company has significant liquid assets to meet its short-term obligations. Free cash flow, which is cash from operations minus capital expenditures, was close to $597.3 million.

Roblox faces significant regulatory pressure regarding child safety and online content moderation under laws like the U.K. Online Safety Act. Which stock would I buy in 2026?
Veteran gaming retailer GameStop and digital gaming platform Roblox offer investors exposure to the video game market, but the two illustrate strikingly opposite views of where the industry is going. When video games were solely available as physical discs, GameStop was a leader. But with the rising popularity of digital game downloads, GameStop’s business is in decline, as demonstrated by the year-over-year drop in its sales.
As a result, GameStop is seeking to reinvent its business. It made headlines recently when it proposed to acquire e-commerce giant eBay for $125 per share. eBay rejected the offer, but GameStop is not giving up yet.
Roblox’s rapid revenue growth demonstrates its business is doing well. However, its stock took a hit, reaching a 52-week low of $40.15 on May 13, after the company cut its 2026 sales forecast. Roblox noted headwinds related to the child safety restrictions it implemented this year.
Personally, I would never have invested in Roblox before these new child safety features were released. That’s because the platform was so dangerous for youngsters, that municipalities sued the company for endangering and exploiting children.
Now, Roblox is clearly the superior gaming stock to invest in over GameStop. Roblox is taking responsibility for creating a safe environment and its revenue is likely to recover over time given its ongoing sales growth. GameStop, however, doesn’t have a clear strategy for long-term business expansion, and its core retail operations are headed for continued decline over time.

Noteworthy Tuesday Option Activity: CAR, GME, NEM

Key Points
Last week, GameStop offered to buy eBay for $125 per share.
There is significant uncertainty over whether GameStop can actually afford the $55.5 billion purchase price it is offering.
eBay shares could stay elevated for now, as a more credible buyer could emerge to meet or beat GameStop's non-binding offer.
GameStop's (NYSE: GME) meme stock glory days have long since passed. However, CEO Ryan Cohen has a new bold plan to turn the video game retailer into one of the top e-commerce companies.
With the company's bid to acquire online marketplace eBay (NASDAQ: EBAY), Cohen could be setting himself up for a large payday, and not necessarily from growth in GameStop's share price.

However, even if GameStop's offer, which Wall Street has already dismissed as "questionable," never leads to a completed deal -- eBay stock could continue to benefit from the offer. Why? It may well put the company "into play," given the potential upside that the bidder sees from reducing eBay's operating costs.
A lack of confidence in GameStop's offer
On May 3, GameStop submitted a non-binding letter to eBay, proposing to acquire it for $125 per share in cash and stock. At that price, based on eBay's outstanding share count, GameStop would have to pay nearly $55.5 billion to acquire this large, profitable company.
That may sound far-fetched at first, given that GameStop's market cap is just $10.9 billion, but public companies have successfully acquired larger targets than themselves before. Then again, there is a good reason why skepticism runs high regarding this proposed deal. For one, Cohen has indicated that the plan is to pay for eBay half in cash and half in GameStop stock.
It's unclear whether eBay shareholders will accept a deal in which half the consideration comes in the form of a highly volatile stock. Also, while GameStop has said that it has a $20 billion financing commitment from TD Bank, said commitment requires the combined company to maintain an investment-grade credit rating.
This may prove difficult, given just how much debt the combined company would have on its books post-merger. Still, despite the skepticism, eBay shares have rallied slightly since deal rumors first emerged on May 1.
Takeover talk could keep shares elevated, for now
As GameStop's CEO, Cohen could earn as much as $35 billion in performance-based stock options, making him one of the highest-paid CEOs ever. All that would be required for that to happen is for GameStop's market cap and annual EBITDA to hit $100 billion and $10 billion, respectively.
As Cohen is free to increase the share count to achieve this goal, making big acquisitions could pave an easy path for him to get there. That said, there could be another way for GameStop, Cohen, and eBay shareholders to all "win." Before making its bid, GameStop acquired a 5% "economic stake" in eBay.
If other potential buyers emerge and make higher or more credible bids, GameStop, and in turn GameStop shareholders like Cohen, could profit from selling that stake. Moreover, a central point of the proposal is that GameStop believes it could cut eBay's annual operating costs by $2 billion within a year of taking it over. If that assertion inspires other bidders to run the numbers themselves, it could lead to large private equity firms like Apollo or Blackstone getting interested in taking eBay private.
Still, I'd tread carefully here. While eBay didn't zoom "to the moon" on the GameStop offer, if it walks back its bid and other buyers fail to show up, shares could still experience a sharp pullback, given that their latest gains have come primarily from takeover speculation.
