Expedia Group EXPE reported first-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of $1.96 per share, up 386% year over year, and surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 39.01%.
Revenues rose 15% from the year-ago quarter to $3.43 billion and beat the consensus mark by 2.47%. Management highlighted that results exceeded the company’s outlook.
Expedia Group’s Segment Mix Tilts to B2B Strength
By segment, B2B remained the primary growth engine. B2B gross bookings grew 22% year over year to $10.75 billion, outpacing B2C gross bookings growth of 10% to $24.78 billion. The differential suggests Expedia Group’s partner-facing business continued to scale faster than its consumer segment.

That mix also showed up in revenue performance. B2B revenues rose 25% year over year to $1.18 billion, while B2C revenues increased 8% to $2.12 billion.
Within advertising and media, Expedia Group's advertising revenues rose 13% to $197 million, and trivago’s advertising revenues jumped 47% to $125 million, adding a higher-growth layer to the overall revenue profile.
EXPE’s Booking Growth Shows Broad-Based Demand
Total gross bookings increased 13% year over year to $35.53 billion, reflecting strength across both lodging and non-lodging categories.
Lodging gross bookings climbed 13% to $25.98 billion, while non-lodging gross bookings also improved 13% to $9.55 billion, indicating healthy demand across the platform’s key travel products.
Pricing trends were supportive as well. Average daily rate booked rose 7% year over year to $228.10, and booked air tickets increased 6% to 15.7 million, helping round out a quarter that featured gains across multiple demand indicators.
Momentum in core travel demand remained intact, with booked room nights increasing 6% year over year to 113.9 million.
EXPE’s Q1 Operating Details
Profitability improved sharply in the quarter. Operating income swung to $251 million from an operating loss of $70 million in the year-ago period, supported by expense leverage and better operating efficiency.
On an adjusted basis, EBITDA increased 83% year over year to $542 million, and adjusted EBITDA margin expanded 591 basis points to 15.8%.
Direct sales and marketing expenses were $1.86 billion, representing 54.2% of revenues, up 6% year over year. However, B2C direct marketing expenses declined 7% year over year to $1.04 billion and leveraged 75 bps as a percentage of B2C gross bookings to 4.2% from 4.9%.
Overhead expenses were $627 million, representing 18.3% of revenues, up 4% year over year, while leveraging 190 bps as a percentage of revenues from 20.2% in the prior-year quarter.
Adjusted cost of revenues was $373 million, up 5% year over year, representing 10.9% of revenues, leveraging 98 bps year over year.
EXPE’s Balance Sheet & Cash Flow Details
As of March 31, 2026, cash and cash equivalents and short-term investments were $5.79 billion, up from $5.73 billion as of Dec. 31, 2025.
Long-term debt was unchanged at $4.47 billion as of March 31, 2026, compared with Dec. 31, 2025.
Cash generation was another bright spot. Net cash provided by operating activities increased 33% year over year to $3.93 billion, reflecting the company’s improved operating performance and favorable working-capital dynamics typical of the travel marketplace model.
Free cash flow climbed 36% year over year to $3.75 billion after $184 million of capital expenditures.
Capital returns accelerated. Expedia Group repurchased roughly 3.3 million shares for $700 million in the quarter and announced a new $5 billion share repurchase authorization. The board also declared a quarterly cash dividend of 48 cents per share.

Looking ahead, EXPE maintained its full-year 2026 framework while providing a solid second-quarter outlook.
The company expects gross bookings to be in the range of $32.5-$33.1 billion for the second quarter of 2026, representing growth of 7-9% year over year.
Revenues are expected to be in the band of $4.11-$4.19 billion, suggesting growth of 9-11% year over year.
Expedia Group expects second-quarter adjusted EBITDA margin expansion of 50-100 bps year over year.
For full-year 2026, Expedia Group continues to project gross bookings of $127-$129 billion, implying growth of 6-8% year over year. Revenues are still expected in the range of $15.6-$16.0 billion, indicating growth of 6-9% year over year.
Expedia Group expects adjusted EBITDA margin to expand 100-125 bps year over year for the year 2026.

Expedia Group Q1 Earnings & Revenues Beat Estimates, Both Increase Y/Y

Electronic Arts EA reported fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 earnings of $1.59 per share, increasing 3.2% year over year but missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.25 by 29.3%.
Revenues increased 12% year over year to $2.12 billion and beat the consensus mark of $2.00 billion.
For the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, EA’s net bookings were $1.86 billion, up 3.6% year over year. Management highlighted Battlefield 6’s record fiscal-year performance and noted Apex Legends delivered its strongest net bookings in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, alongside growth across Global Football properties.

EA’s full-game revenues (28.7% of total revenues) increased 39.4% year over year to $609 million. Full-game download revenues rose 43.9% year over year to $528 million. Packaged goods increased 15.7% year over year to $81 million.

EA Expands Profit Despite Higher Operating Costs
EA’s cost discipline showed up in margins even as spending increased. GAAP gross profit increased 15% year over year to $1.76 billion. Gross margin expanded 220 basis points on a year-over-year basis to 82.8%.
Operating expenses increased 5.3% year over year to $1.19 billion. As a percentage of revenues, operating expenses contracted from 59.7% in the year-ago quarter to 56.2%. Research and development climbed to $732 million, while marketing and sales rose to $254 million.
Even with these increases, operating income on a GAAP basis improved to $564 million, increased 42.8% year over year, lifting the operating margin to 26.6%.

As of March 31, 2026, EA had $2.98 billion in cash and short-term investments compared with $2.9 billion as of Dec. 31, 2025.
Net cash provided by operating activities was $580 million for the quarter and $2.55 billion for the trailing 12 months. Likewise, free cash flow was $519 million for the quarter and $2.32 billion for the trailing 12 months.
Deferred net revenues tied to online-enabled games rose to $2.23 billion, reflecting the company’s ongoing exposure to live services and digitally delivered content recognition timing.
EA declared a quarterly cash dividend of 19 cents per share, payable June 17, 2026, to shareholders of record as of May 27.

Average revenue per user amounted to $14.99, up from $14.86 year over year. Self-pay monthly churn improved to 1.5% from 1.6% in the year-ago period.
Net subscriber loss in the reported quarter was 148K compared with a net loss of 362K in the year-ago period.
Pandora & Off-Platform Details
The Pandora and Off-Platform segment continued to shoulder most of the company’s advertising mix. Segment revenues increased 3% year over year to $501 million, with advertising revenues rising 5% to $372 million, partially offset by a 2% decline in subscriber revenues to $129 million amid a smaller subscriber base.
Self-pay subscribers of Pandora ended the quarter at 5.6 million. Ad-supported listener hours were 2.22 billion in the first quarter, down 6% year over year. Advertising revenue per thousand listener hours decreased 4% year over year to $84.11.
SIRI's Q1 Operating Details
In the first quarter, total operating expenses decreased 3% year over year to $1.64 billion, primarily backed by impairment, restructuring and other costs of $6 million compared with $48 million in the prior-year period.
Profitability improved on a combination of modest top-line growth and cost control. Adjusted EBITDA increased 6% year over year to $666 million, and adjusted EBITDA margin expanded 140 basis points to 32.0%, reflecting lower customer service, product and technology, and general and administrative expenses.
Management also reiterated its 2026 focus on efficiency, noting $45 million of progress toward a targeted $100 million in incremental gross cost savings for the year. The cost program included $27 million in operating expense run-rate savings and $18 million in capital expenditure savings.
Balance Sheet & Cash Flow of SIRI
As of March 31, 2026, cash and cash equivalents were $75 million compared with $94 million as of Dec. 31, 2025, according to the company's consolidated balance sheet.
Long-term debt as of March 31, 2026, was $9.69 billion compared with $8.65 billion as of Dec. 31, 2025.
During the quarter, Sirius XM completed a $1.25 billion refinancing, retired all 2026 notes and redeemed $250 million of 2027 notes, while returning $113 million to its shareholders through $91 million in dividends and $22 million in share repurchases.
For the first quarter, cash flow from operations was $271 million compared with $242 million in the year-ago quarter.
Free cash flow totaled $171 million, more than tripling from $56 million in the prior-year period, driven by higher adjusted EBITDA and lower capital expenditures.
SIRI Reaffirms 2026 Guidance
SIRI reaffirmed its full-year 2026 outlook, projecting revenues of approximately $8.5 billion, adjusted EBITDA of approximately $2.6 billion and free cash flow of approximately $1.35 billion.
The company also reiterated its longer-term target of $1.5 billion in free cash flow in 2027, reflecting a continued focus on operational efficiency and cash flow conversion.

Howdy, y'all
Late last year, the streaming pioneer made a calculated decision to launch a paid streaming channel, dubbed "Howdy." This subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service debuted in August for just $2.99 per month, catering to price-sensitive customers. At the time, Roku noted that the service's library featured thousands of titles and 10,000 hours of entertainment, including programs and movies from Lionsgate, Warner Bros. Discovery, and FilmRise, as well as select Roku originals.
Skeptics immediately panned the service as just another subscription to manage and lacking in first-run movies. Now, just eight months later, that relatively modest bet appears to be paying off. Estimates suggest that Howdy has surpassed 1 million subscribers, according to a report by analytics company Antenna.
The data suggests Roku's platform was a significant driver of growth, as 23% of subscribers came via The Roku Channel, the company's ad-supported offering. Retention is also respectable, with 51% of initial viewers still subscribed after six months. For context, only 47% of premium SVOD services survive the six-month threshold. While it might not seem like much, this adds to Roku's growing advantage.
Then there's The Roku Channel -- the company's free, ad-supported streaming service. It ended 2025 with a 3% share of all TV viewership, according to Nielsen, placing it in the Top 10 among media companies and ahead of other streaming providers, including Paramount+, Comcast's Peacock, Fox's Tubi, and Warner Bros. Discovery. The Roku Channel was also ranked No. 2 on the company's platform in terms of engagement.
Just last week, Roku announced that it had surpassed 100 million streaming households worldwide. The company also commands a 55% market share of streaming devices in the U.S.
Taken together, the growth of Howdy, the ongoing success of The Roku Channel, and the company's expanding worldwide influence suggest Roku has taken all the right steps to position itself for future growth.
What the future could hold
Roku is scheduled to report its first-quarter financial results after the market close on Thursday, and the future looks bright. Management's forecast calls for revenue to grow 18% year over year to $1.2 billion, while swinging from a net loss of $27 million to a profit of $50 million. If the company delivers, this will mark the fourth consecutive quarter of profitability, a significant milestone in the company's recovery.
Wall Street is equally bullish, as analysts' consensus estimates call for revenue of $1.2 billion and adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.35.
At 35 times next year's expected earnings, the stock commands a premium. However, if the company continues to deliver on its promise, Roku's current valuation could turn out to be a bargain.
For my money, Roku stock is a buy.
