Fox Corporation operates as a news, sports, and entertainment company in the United States (U.S.). The company operates through four segments: Cable Network Programming, Television, Credible, and The FOX Studio Lot. The Cable Network Programming segment produces and licenses news and sports content for distribution through traditional cable television systems, direct broadcast satellite operators and telecommunication companies, virtual multi-channel video programming distributors, and other digital platforms primarily in the U.S. Television segment produces, acquires, markets, and distributes programming through the FOX broadcast network, advertising supported video-on-demand service Tubi, and operates power broadcast television stations including duopolies and other digital platform; and produces content for third parties. The Credible segment engages in the consumer finance marketplace. The FOX Studio Lot segment provides television and film production services along with office space, studio operation services and includes all operations of the facility. The company was incorporated in 2018 and is headquartered in New York, New York.

Fox Corporation appears to be a mature media asset with decent profitability, but without a clear reason for aggressive upward revaluation. On a P/E basis, the company trades below the industry median, which supports the idea of moderate undervaluation; however, P/S and P/B are noticeably above industry benchmarks, limiting the upside in valuation. P/FCF is also below the median, which speaks in favor of strong cash generation, but this advantage is already partly offset by a more expensive revenue and book value. Profitability is generally strong: ROE, ROA, ROI, and return on tangible equity are above the industry, and operating margin stands out in particular, indicating good operational discipline. At the same time, gross margin is below the median, suggesting pressure on gross profitability and making the revenue structure less comfortable than that of the sector’s best players. The margin trend does not look catastrophically deteriorating, but it also does not show the sustained acceleration that would usually justify a higher multiple. Leverage is moderate: debt/equity is below the industry median, current ratio and quick ratio are very comfortable, and cash on hand remains significant, so liquidity risk appears limited. On the other hand, long-term debt remains substantial and has barely declined, so the balance sheet cannot be called risk-free. Revenue, EBITDA, and operating income are generally at acceptable levels, but volatility is visible across several periods, and net income and EPS forecast do not signal strong acceleration in future growth. Dividend yield has declined compared with earlier levels, reducing the stock’s attractiveness for income-oriented investors. Overall, the fundamentals support fair value with a slight discount rather than a scenario of significant upside. For an investor, this means the stock looks high-quality and financially resilient, but the current price already reflects a substantial portion of the business’s strengths.

Why invest in Netflix?
Netflix is a streaming powerhouse, along with Amazon's Prime Video service. Per Evoca.tv, Netflix's recent U.S. streaming market share was 21%, vs. 22% for Amazon Prime Video. The company has boasted that "We are entertaining over half a billion people in more than 190 countries and 50 languages..."
In its second quarter, Netflix posted revenue rising 13% year over year and net income up 9%. The company has been broadening its offerings, too, with live sports broadcasts, games, and podcasts.
Netflix's shares seem reasonably valued at recent levels, with a forward-looking price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 22, below its five-year average of 31. Its recent price-to-sales ratio of 6.1 is also below its average of 6.5.
A final plus is management discipline, as Netflix has walked away from some big deals, such as those with Warner Bros. Discovery and Roku, after choosing not to match the winning bids from Paramount Skydance and Fox, respectively. A company with less regard for shareholder value might have kept bidding. Netflix's management has also been buying back millions of shares -- 13.5 million in the last quarter -- which rewards shareholders. Why might you not invest in Netflix?
Of course, there are some concerns to consider. There have been reports of Netflix losing viewers between seasons of various shows due to too long a wait for the next season. Also, some worry that it's relying on price increases for growth more than it should. Be sure to look at the whole picture before deciding whether to invest in Netflix.

On July 20, Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) filed a couple of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) documents with "prospectus" in their names. My heart rate ticked up a bit. In a summer where every media company seems to be buying, selling, or spinning off something, my first move was to hunt for the "use of proceeds" section of Netflix's filings. Was the company loading up for another acquisition run?
Luckily, my blood pressure has returned to normal. Netflix is just refinancing $1 billion in debt that was about to mature. Old notes out, new notes in. The interest rate is higher (5.250% versus 4.375%), reflecting recent inflation trends, but this is the financial equivalent of rolling over a CD at your local bank.

Boring. Routine. Totally fine. The new debt is just replacing the old one, two days before the expiration date. That's a relief, frankly.
Meanwhile, in Hollywood...
The media industry has been reshuffling at a dizzying pace this year. Fox is buying Roku. Comcast decided NBCUniversal would be happier living on its own and announced a spin-off. Lionsgate (NYSE: LION) is standing on the corner holding a "will sell studio to good home" sign since spinning off from Starz Entertainment last year. And the Warner Bros. Discovery (NASDAQ: WBD) situation has more plot twists than an Agatha Christie whodunnit.
Netflix, of course, was part of the Warner story. The company bid $82.7 billion for Warner's studios and streaming assets back in December. For a brief moment, it looked like Netflix might finally get its hands on a legacy content library; the one thing every major competitor has that Netflix doesn't.
Then, Paramount Skydance showed up with $111 billion and a willingness to take on approximately all the debt in Hollywood. Netflix took one look at the new price tag, said "thanks, but no thanks," and walked away.
Insider reports say that Netflix also considered buying back Roku, its own former media-streaming hardware division. It didn't make financial sense and management walked away without making an official bid.
Lucky breaks or missed opportunities?
Honestly? Probably the former. Warner's library is incredible. Beyond classic films like Casablanca, The Matrix, and Sinners, the company runs HBO, DC Comics, and The Food Network. But $111 billion is a lot of money, and even Oracle founder Larry Ellison's financial backing might not be enough. Paramount Skydance's deal is currently stuck in legal limbo after a dozen state attorneys general decided they had opinions about media consolidation.
Netflix, meanwhile, is doing just fine without a legacy studio in its pocket. Revenue is up 47% over three years. Net income more than tripled over the same period. Subscriber growth is continuing despite a streaming market that's supposedly saturated. The self-made content strategy that skeptics questioned for years appears to be working.
Building something different
Here's what I find interesting about Netflix's current trajectory: The company seems less interested in forming another traditional media conglomerate and more interested in becoming something else entirely.
Video games are a growing part of the business. Netflix House is bringing the brand into physical entertainment spaces. There's a future here that looks less like "streaming service with a studio" and more like a diversified entertainment empire.
Some of the trappings should look similar to the existing Comcast/Universal and Walt Disney powerhouses. I imagine theme parks, hotels, gaming, live experiences... the works. Disney built that model over decades through acquisitions and clever land deals. Netflix might try to build it from scratch.
The movie and TV business is enormous, especially on a global scale. However, it might not be enormous enough for where Netflix wants to go. Why fight over Warner Bros. when you could be building Netflix World, starting far behind the scenes?
For now, the company is keeping its powder dry, refinancing debt, and letting everyone else write the dramatic headlines. In a summer of Hollywood chaos, that's not the worst strategy.

Fox Buys Roku, and Now Comcast Is Spinning Off NBCUniversal. Does Netflix Need to Make a Big Move This Summer?

Microsoft has much to figure out in terms of cost-effective spending, but it’s starting to make these tough decisions.
Amazon’s top profit center, Amazon Web Services, is more resilient and marketable than the market’s giving the company credit for.
The growth of most of Google parent Alphabet’s businesses will remain mostly unfazed regardless of how the economy performs.
After leading the market so decisively for so long, things are finally changing for the so-called "Magnificent Seven" stocks.
Year to date, they're collectively up a mere 2%, versus the S&P 500's gain of more than 11%. This sudden weakness could linger for a while. too, given that most of the Mag-7 names are so integral to the artificial intelligence revolution that's starting to lose its luster.

Still, three of the Magnificent Seven stocks are arguably undervalued at this time. They're ripe for a long-term recovery, regardless of how the group or the broad market performs for the foreseeable future. Here's a closer look at each one of these names.
1. Microsoft
It's no secret why Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) shares are down 25% from August's peak. The software giant's cloud computing business's growth is slowing. Its capital spending -- mostly on AI infrastructure -- is growing to a hefty $190 billion,even though its artificial intelligence business's current annualized revenue run rate is only $37 billion. The market's doing the math, so to speak, and the numbers aren't adding up.
Then there's its video-gaming arm. While its Xbox console and games were never a major profit center, this was a reliable cash cow. Now it isn't. Last quarter's Xbox revenue fell 5% year over year.
There are two important details to consider here, however.
The first is the fact that CEO Satya Nadella finally seems to be recognizing reality, and is responding. The company recently laid off roughly 4,800 workers in an effort to adjust its staffing with respect to its opportunity. It's also restructuring its video gaming unit in a way that will make this weakening industry less of a liability to its income statement.
This won't change much immediately. It's only about 2% of its entire workforce. It does indicate, however, that Microsoft's management knows more sweeping action is merited.
The other thing to consider is the distinct possibility that with shares now down 25% from their peak, all of these problems are already reflected in the stock's price, and then some.
That's what the analyst community is saying, anyway. The vast majority of analysts covering this ticker currently rate it as a strong buy, with a consensus price target of $557.74. That's more than 40% above the stock's present price.
2. Amazon
It might not be too tough to figure out what's undermining Microsoft shares of late. E-commerce giant Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), however, is a different story. Its first-quarter top line improved 17% year over year, led by 28% growth from its cloud computing arm Amazon Web Services -- an industry Amazon continues to lead. Operating income is growing as well. The company's even designing its own artificial intelligence processors to better (and more cost-effectively) serve its cloud customers that specifically need more cloud-based AI computing horsepower.
Nevertheless, Amazon shares have trailed the overall market for the past year. They haven't made any net progress since early November, largely thanks to last month's weakness, when several other Magnificent Seven stocks suddenly began struggling.
What gives?
Although it's not quite as pronounced as it is with Microsoft, investors are concerned about Amazon's heavy spending on artificial intelligence infrastructure. The company is budgeting roughly $200 billion for capital expenditures this year alone, up nearly 60% from last year's capital spending. As is the case with many of its peers, investors aren't entirely sure these big AI-related outlays will result in enough of a return to fully justify them.
Amazon is also taking on a bunch of new debt to at least partially fund these projects. It issued $37 billion in bonds in March of this year, and then sold an additional $25 billion worth earlier this month. Unlike the issuance of new stocks, these loans are legal obligations, and must be repaid regardless of how the assets they'll fund perform in terms of profit production. If Amazon's artificial intelligence ambitions don't pan out as hoped, it's still on the hook for this borrowed money.
The thing is, even if it doesn't manifest right away, the opportunity for this AI infrastructure is very real. Amazon remains one of the industry's preferred service providers. Warner Bros. Discovery and Fox Corporation both recently announced business relationships with AWS, following last month's news of an AWS partnership with Southwest Airlines.
3. Alphabet
Despite it being a solid performer since early 2023, Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG)(NASDAQ: GOOGL) shares are down 12% since early May.
Don't sweat it too much. It's not an indictment of the company's past or potential performance. It's mostly just volatility, stemming from headlines about other tech companies. It may also be as much discount as you're going to see for the stock for a while, in fact. So, act now while the window of opportunity is still open.
Every one of this company's businesses is still firing on all cylinders. Google Services' total revenue grew 16% year over year in Q1, accelerating the fourth quarter's growth pace of 14%. Meanwhile, its cloud computing arm (which serves a growing number of artificial intelligence customers) saw its top line grow 63% year over year during Q1 2026, more than doubling its operating income in the process. Look for comparable growth going forward too, regardless of how well or how poorly the economy holds up from here.
Alphabet leads several markets that are largely immune to economic headwinds.
Search is one of them. A weak economy might result in weaker consumerism, but it doesn't result in fewer web searches. Google could become even more lucrative in sluggish economic environments, in fact, since connecting with consumers at their primary gateway to the internet is the best place to cost-effectively turn people into customers.
Mobile platforms are another important business for Alphabet. Numbers from Statcounter indicate that 69% of the world's mobile devices also still run Alphabet's mobile operating system Android, again positioning the company as a key, revenue-bearing gatekeeper to the way most of the world now connects to the internet.
Google Docs even enjoys more productivity software market share than the venerable Microsoft.
The point is, Alphabet's hold on the internet is pretty tight on several fronts, ranging from free email to video to search to platforms to cloud computing to -- increasingly -- artificial intelligence. This positions it as a top-of-mind provider on other fronts, few of which will be affected much by an economic slowdown.
The market will remember this resiliency sooner or later, and likely sooner than later. The company's second-quarter earnings report, coming later this month, could be that catalyst.

This hasn't been a great year for Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX). The stock is down 19% to date as of writing. And even worse, it has declined about 43% from its most recent high. While the company remains the leader in streaming, Netflix's poor second-quarter guidance, a leadership change, and a long acquisition battle that failed to materialize have all taken a toll on the stock. Investors may wonder what will happen next and whether this is a good time to scoop up Netflix's shares on the dip. Previous instances of the stock dropping by 40% or more might give us a clue.

Why the stock could fall even further
In some cases, Netflix's massive declines bottom out at around 40%. That's what happened between mid and late 2018, when the stock dropped by that much and subsequently recovered.
However, in other cases, it dips significantly further before eventually rebounding. Between late 2021 and mid-2022, Netflix's stock dropped by more than 70%.
Will this time around be more like the first instance or the second? Note that in 2018 and 2021, Netflix's issues stemmed from subscriber growth (or lack thereof). The stock bounced back after overcoming this obstacle. There are reasons to think the company hasn't yet addressed all the problems that are driving its ongoing sell-off. For instance, Netflix is reportedly experiencing low subscriber engagement. That can hurt its business in multiple ways, including lower-than-expected ad revenue, fewer data points to inform its content library, and less excitement around its new releases, which can harm subscriber growth.
This problem could lead to weak revenue growth in its upcoming second quarter (with results scheduled for release on July 16), and equally unimpressive guidance, potentially sending the stock sharply lower. Further, Netflix is dealing with an increasingly competitive landscape. With Paramount pulling off a major acquisition (snatching it from Netflix, no less) that will significantly expand its content library and make it a stronger streaming platform, Disney getting a majority stake in FuboTV, and Fox acquiring Roku, the competition is improving. Those are some reasons the stock may not have bottomed out yet.
Should you give up on Netflix?
One thing Netflix's past dips have in common is that it was generally a good idea to buy the company's shares while the stock was dropping, and not necessarily at the bottom, which is impossible to time. My view is that investors who initiate positions right now (or acquire more shares) will also be handsomely rewarded down the road. Here's why. Despite the issues it faces, Netflix's large ecosystem can enable it to explore new ways to monetize its audience and boost engagement.
That's what it did back in 2022, when it faced declining subscribers -- as more streaming platforms entered the market -- and password-sharing that took a bite out of its revenue potential. Netflix introduced several initiatives, including a low-priced ad-supported tier and a way to address password-sharing. Netflix is already exploring ways to overcome its current challenges.
The company is reportedly thinking about launching live TV channels. Other streaming leaders have had great success with this, but few -- if any -- of them benefit from Netflix's large ecosystem and brand recognition, which could make its live channels practically an instant hit. The company is also considering bidding for future World Cups, given the massive success of the current one.
This is part of Netflix's broader strategy to expand its footprint into the live sports niche, something that could also increase engagement and attract significantly more subscribers to the platform. So, Netflix may be dealing with issues -- and the stock might decline even more after its upcoming update. But for long-term investors, the streaming specialist remains an attractive buy, especially at current levels, as it launches new initiatives to overcome its current challenges.

Despite what the stock price has done this year, there's a lot to like about Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX) as a long-term investment.
It has new revenue opportunities through video podcasting and gaming units, and its entertainment venue, Netflix House, is expanding from locations in Dallas and Philadelphia to Las Vegas in 2027.

For the rest of this year, however, it could still be a bumpy ride for investors, depending on what's reported on July 16 in Netflix's 2026 second-quarter earnings. That report will allow Netflix to show whether content costs are under control, what its acquisition strategy is, and whether the company can reassure shareholders enough to reverse recent stock price losses.
Content costs
When Netflix reported its first-quarter earnings in April, a few things stuck out that weighed on the stock price immediately after the report. But one of the biggest worries from the market seemed to be Netflix's content costs.
The management team warned that a large portion of content costs would be front-loaded at the start of the year, and that its content amortization rate would peak in the second quarter of 2026.
Netflix's upcoming report will show whether that expectation held true or if the cost of that content is continuing to rise.
What's next after Warner
After Netflix walked away from a bidding war in February to acquire assets from Warner Bros. Discovery, investors initially cheered the move. That's because there were always questions about how much value Netflix could extract from Warner Bros., and finding out would have come at a hefty cost.
It didn't take long for Netflix to find another acquisition target. In March, the streaming giant acquired the filmmaking technology company founded by actor Ben Affleck, InterPositive, for a reported $600 million. More recently, in June, rumors surfaced that Netflix was interested in acquiring streaming software company Roku. However, Fox entered a definitive agreement to acquire Roku, and it seems unlikely Netflix would make a competitive bid.
Currently, there doesn't seem to be a unifying theme for the types of acquisitions Netflix is pursuing or may be interested in. More clarity from the management team on the acquisition strategy would help shareholders better understand the company's long-term goals.
Slumping stock price
The biggest reason Netflix has a lot to prove in its upcoming earnings report is because of its slumping stock price. As of this writing, not only are shares down nearly 20% so far in 2026, but the stock price is down around 40% over the last 12 months.
Starting a position before earnings could lead to short-term gains if the report is positive, but it could just as easily lead to fast losses if the report is mediocre or disappointing.
For long-term investors, this will serve more as a scorecard: Has Netflix found its footing, with progress to build on, or is the company still stuck in a slump and facing more uncertainty ahead?
