On a generally bullish Thursday for the U.S. stock markets, Airbus (OTC: EADSY) wasn't a popular title. The sprawling European aerospace company took a nearly 2% hit to its share price, on the back of two analyst price target cuts.
Chop, chop
The two prognosticators in question -- Christophe Menard of Deutsche Bank and UBS's Ian Douglas-Pennant -- both labor for Europe-headquartered researchers. On Thursday morning, Menard reduced his Airbus fair value assessment to 222 euros ($259) per share, from his previous 228 euros ($266). Douglas-Pennant cut his to 230 euros ($268) from 240 euros ($280).

These lowered expectations don't mean that either analyst is now an Airbus bear, however, as both maintained their existing buy recommendation on the stock.
It wasn't immediately clear why either pundit adjusted their takes on the company. It didn't seem coincidental that the two price target cuts came a day after Airbus cut its full-year 2025 delivery estimate. It's reduced this estimate by 4% to a total of roughly 790 jets for the year, due in no small part to a several manufacturing issues with its A320 airliner.
No serious loss of altitude
It's probable that the two analysts held fast to their buy recommendations because this news from Airbus isn't too alarming.
No one likes a cut in delivery estimates, but there is clear demand for the A320, and it isn't outrageous or unusual for manufacturers of highly sophisticated planes to experience such difficulties. I think the company will work these out, so these latest developments wouldn't scare me away from owning the stock.

Why Airbus Stock Stalled on Thursday

Deutsche Bank AG’s DB India arm is exploring the sale of its retail and wealth management business, according to The Economic Times report published on Outlook Business. The bank had earlier examined an exit in 2017, but the plan was put on hold.
The potential sale includes 17 retail branches and a large wealth platform that manages assets for high-net-worth clients. The DB’s India business posted strong results in FY25, supported by impressive income growth, yet the operation remains under review as the bank focuses on simplifying its global footprint.
Details of DB’s India Business Sale
Per the report, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Federal Bank have shown initial interest in the portfolio. Both institutions have reviewed the business and held early discussions. The sale process is still at a preliminary stage. Any potential transaction would require agreement on valuation, detailed due diligence and regulatory approvals.
Deutsche Bank’s India retail and wealth unit had total assets of INR25,038 crore ($2.8 billion) and generated INR2,455 crore ($277.4 million) in revenues during fiscal 2025. The wealth business has long-standing relationships with affluent clients and is regarded as a strong franchise within the company’s Asian network.
India is Deutsche Bank’s only retail market outside Europe. A sale would therefore mark a significant adjustment to the bank’s geographic structure.
Reasons Behind Deutsche Bank’s Planned Exit
The company’s potential move is broadly aligned with its long-term strategy under the “Global Hausbank” growth phase, which prioritizes capital efficiency, market leadership and disciplined resource allocation. DB has been increasingly focused on markets and business lines where it can achieve stronger scale advantages and sustainable profitability.
As part of its updated roadmap (announced on Nov. 17, 2025), Deutsche Bank is targeting a return on tangible equity (RoTE) of more than 13% by 2028, driven by tighter cost control, productivity improvements and sharper strategic focus. Redeploying capital into scalable, capital-light businesses such as advisory, asset gathering, payments and institutional services remains central to these priorities.
A potential exit from a smaller, non-core consumer market such as India could help DB redirect resources toward areas aligned with long-term value creation. The company also highlighted that future growth is expected to rely on automation, AI-enabled efficiency gains and deeper engagement in businesses offering consistent profitability and stronger competitive positioning.

The proposed exit supports Deutsche Bank’s broader effort to simplify its operations and reallocate capital more effectively. Selling a non-core retail franchise enables the bank to reduce complexity, sharpen strategic focus and reinforce progress toward its medium-term profitability and efficiency goals. The move positions the company to channel resources into businesses offering stronger scale, better returns, and greater strategic alignment with its 2028 transformation plan.
In the past six months, shares of Deutsche Bank have gained 17.8% compared with the industry’s 16.1% growth.

Similar Steps Taken by Other Finance Firms
Earlier this week, The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. GS reached an agreement with ING Bank Slaski to divest its Polish asset management firm, TFI. The deal, targeted for completion in the first half of 2026 pending regulatory signoff, will end Goldman’s presence in the Polish retail investment market.
Goldman’s TFI, under its stewardship, had grown to serve more than 736,000 clients and had 48 billion PLN in assets under management.
In September 2025, HSBC Holdings PLC HSBC agreed to sell its retail banking business in Sri Lanka to Nations Trust Bank PLC (“NTB”). The deal includes the accounts, credit cards, and retail loans of roughly 2,00,000 clients of Sri Lanka’s branch.
As part of the transaction, NTB will provide an employment offer to the existing staff. This deal, expected to be completed in the first half of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals, is anticipated to generate an immaterial pre-tax gain for HSBC by completion.

Deutsche Bank Intends to Divest Indian Retail and Wealth Unit

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (“FDIC”) has filed a lawsuit against Capital One COF, alleging that the bank paid about $100 million less than it should have to help bail out depositors of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank, which both collapsed in 2023. This was reported by Reuters.
The FDIC took control of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank in March 2023 and estimated in June 2024 that it would recover $18.6 billion from 111 banks through special assessments. Banks with less than $5 billion in assets were exempted from these charges.
In sync with this, Capital One estimated in July 2025 that it might have to reserve an additional $200 million.
Details About the FDIC Lawsuit Against COF
The main concern of the dispute is whether Capital One understated its level of uninsured deposits by excluding a $56 billion position between two subsidiaries from regulatory filings that describe its financial condition.
The FDIC relies on banks’ deposit figures to determine the special assessments it imposes to recover losses to its deposit insurance fund after bank failures.
In its countersuit, the FDIC argued that leaving out the $56 billion balance caused Capital One to compute its special assessment at $324.84 million instead of the correct $474.08 million. The agency said roughly $99.4 million is still outstanding.
"There are no time machines when it comes to special assessments, and the subsidiary's funds were deposits held at the bank for which the subsidiary already received the benefit of FDIC deposit insurance," the FDIC said.
This lawsuit against Capital One comes just two months after the bank filed its own lawsuit accusing the FDIC of overcharging it by $149.2 million.
Capital One’s Past Legal Issues
The lawsuit adds to the company’s growing legal troubles. In September, a bipartisan group of 18 U.S. states proposed the rejection of COF’s $425 million settlement deal with depositors who accused the bank of using deceptive practices to make them think that they were earning the highest interest rate available from the company's online banking arm during the rising rate cycle.
In August, the New York Attorney General, Letitia James, filed a lawsuit against the Capital One-owned Zelle app, alleging that the payment platform failed to implement crucial safety measures, allowing fraudsters to steal more than $1 billion from consumers.

Regulatory Probes Faced by Other Banks
In September, UBS Group AG UBS agreed to pay €835 million ($986.8 million) to resolve a long-running French tax case concerning its cross-border business activities between 2004 and 2012.
UBS Group will pay a €730 million ($862.7 million) fine and €105 million ($124.1 million) in civil damages to the French state. The company stated that the matter is fully provisioned and its resolution is consistent with its strategy of addressing legacy issues in the best interests of all stakeholders.
Similarly, in August, Deutsche Bank AG DB was fined HK$23.8 million ($3.05 million) by Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) for multiple regulatory breaches, including fee overcharging, misclassification of product risk and failure to disclose investment banking relationships in research reports.
The disciplinary action stems from investigations triggered by Deutsche Bank’s self-reports submitted between December 2020 and December 2023. The SFC found that between November 2015 and November 2023, the bank overcharged clients approximately $39 million in management and custodian fees. These overcharges resulted from failure to apply discounted fee rates and misstatements in fund valuations.

New Strong Buy Stocks for Nov. 18: ALL, HMY, and More

Deutsche Bank’s DB investment arm, DWS Group (“DWS”), has announced plans to enter a strategic collaboration with Nippon Life India Asset Management Ltd. (“NAMI”). The partnership aims to strengthen capabilities across alternatives, passive investment solutions, and global distribution while expanding DB’s presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing asset management markets.
Under the collaboration, DWS will acquire a 40% stake in Nippon Life India AIF Management (“NIAIF”), a wholly owned subsidiary of NAMI focused on Alternative Investment Funds. NIAIF will issue new shares to DWS in consideration for the investment, with NAMI retaining the remaining shares.
Details of the DB’s Collaboration
DWS’s investment will support NIAIF’s expansion across private credit, listed equities, real estate, and venture capital. NIAIF has raised close to $1 billion in capital commitments over the past decade and has established a strong track record as one of India’s leading alternative fund managers.
Beyond alternatives, DWS and NAMI plan to co-develop passive products for both the Indian and Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities markets. The partnership will also explore a global distribution arrangement for India-focused active strategies, combining DWS’s international network with NAMI’s domestic expertise. The collaboration reflects DB’s broader commitment to leveraging its asset management capabilities to capture high-growth opportunities in India.

After-Hours Earnings Report for October 29, 2025 : MSFT, META, GOOGL, GOOG, NOW, KLAC, MELI, SBUX, EQIX, AEM, DB, CP

(RTTNews) - German banking major Deutsche Bank AG (DB) reported Wednesday higher third-quarter profit with increased revenues mainly in Investment bank.
Looking ahead, for fiscal 2025, the bank continues to expect revenues of around 32 billion euros.
Christian Sewing, Chief Executive Officer, said, "We are on track to deliver on our 2025 financial targets and, having increased shareholder distributions by 50 percent in each of the last three years, we are on course to return over € 8 billion to shareholders from 2022 to 2026. We have built firm foundations for the next phase of our strategy journey."
In the third quarter, net profit attributable to shareholders grew 7 percent to 1.56 billion euros from last year's 1.46 billion euros.
Profit before tax was 2.45 billion euros, up 8 percent from 2.26 billion euros a year ago. Profit before tax climbed 34 percent excluding prior year's 440 million euros Postbank litigation provision release.
Noninterest expenses of 5.2 billion euros went up 9 percent year on year, reflecting non-recurrence of Postbank litigation release in prior year quarter
Provision for credit losses declined 16 percent year on year to 417 million euros.
Net revenues rose 7 percent to 8.04 billion euros from 7.50 billion euros a year ago with growth in all segments, despite Corporate Bank. Investment bank revenues climbed 18 percent.
