The company offers subscription-based internet, video, and mobile and voice services; a suite of broadband connectivity services, including fixed internet, WiFi, and mobile; Advanced WiFi services; Spectrum Security Shield; in-home WiFi, which provides customers with high performance wireless routers and managed WiFi services to enhance their fixed wireless internet experience; out-of-home WiFi; and Spectrum WiFi services. It also offers voice communications services using voice over internet protocol technology; and broadband communications solutions, such as internet access, data networking, fiber connectivity, video entertainment, and business telephone services to cellular towers and office buildings for business and carrier organizations. In addition, the company provides mobile services; video programming, static IP and business WiFi, voice, and e-mail and security services; sells local advertising across various platforms for networks, such as TBS, CNN, and ESPN; sells advertising inventory to local sports and news channels; and offers Audience App to create data-driven linear TV campaigns for local advertisers. Further, the company offers communications products and managed service solutions; data connectivity services to mobile and wireline carriers on a wholesale basis; and owns and operates regional sports networks and news channels. It serves approximately 32 million customers in 41 states. Charter Communications, Inc.was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut.

Space-linked stocks are trading lower despite the SpaceX debut, with EchoStar (SATS) down more than -6%, and Rocket Lab (RKLB) down more than -5%.
Chip stocks are trading mostly lower today after Thursday’s sharp rally, with the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) trading slightly lower after Thursday’s rally of +8.39%. Thursday’s rally was sparked by signs that AI spending is continuing after Oracle reported quarterly capital expenditures that were higher than expected, driven by increased data center spending. Chip leaders today include AMD (AMD) and Intel (INTC), with gains of more than +3%.
Adobe (ADBE) is down more than -8% after CFO Dan Durn said he would leave the company on June 15, following news earlier this year that Adobe’s CEO would resign. The Adobe news put continued downward pressure on software stocks, which were undercut on Thursday by negative earnings news from Oracle (ORCL). ServiceNow (NOW), Atlassian (TEAM), and Workday (WDAY) are all trading down by more than -3%.
Airline stocks are seeing continued support after oil prices today moved lower, adding to Thursday’s decline. United Airlines (UAL) and Southwest Airlines (LUV) are trading up more than +0.5%.
Energy stocks and service providers are mixed despite today’s continued slump in oil prices. Baker Hughes is down more than -1%, but Occidental Petroleum (OXY) and Marathon Petroleum (MPC) are up more than +1%.
Astera Labs (ALAB), CoreWeave (CRWV), Nebius Group (NBIS), Rocket Lab (RKLB), and Teradyn (TER) are seeing support today after Nasdaq announced on Thursday that those stocks will join the Nasdaq 100 Index, effective at the market open on June 22. Stocks leaving the Nasdaq 100 include Charter Communications (CHTR), Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTSH), Insmed (INSM), Verisk Analytics (VRSK), and Zscaler (ZS).
Travelers (TRV) is down more than -1% after Barclays cut its rating on the stock to underweight from equal-weight due to a downbeat outlook for profits in the property and casualty sector.

From a user’s point of view, opting for fiber and wireless services from a single vendor reduces complexity for them as well.
The company has launched a company-wide transformation program focused on becoming an AI-first organization. The program is focused on automation, AI-enabled customer interactions, digital sales channels, micro-segmentation, and process simplification. The company expects these efforts to reduce operating costs and enhance user experience. Verizon targets achieving $5 billion in operating expense savings and improving profitability. AI integration across operations supports that initiative.
Verizon continues to invest in network excellence, fiber infrastructure, and advanced cybersecurity capabilities. This is evident by its participation in Anthropic's Project Glasswing. The company is aiming to strengthen its cybersecurity capabilities using advanced artificial intelligence.

Although the company has reduced its spend on promotional activities, heavily discounted offers from rivals can still impact its subscriber growth.
Verizon is aggressively expanding its fiber footprint and fixed wireless business. Although these initiatives support long-term growth, they require significant capital investment. This will likely put pressure on free cash flow in the near term.
The Frontier acquisition expands the fiber footprint but increases leverage and adds integration complexity that can constrain flexibility if operating conditions deteriorate. At the end of first-quarter 2026, Verizon’s total unsecured debt was $142.5 billion compared with $131.1 billion at the end of the fourth quarter of 2025, and net unsecured debt was $130.1 billion compared with $110.1 billion. Its high debt burden makes it vulnerable to growing macro uncertainty. Weak consumer spending or business investment could affect wireless upgrades, broadband demand and hinder VZ’s revenue growth.

AT&T continues to experience steep declines in legacy wireline and copper-based services as customers migrate to newer technologies. In first-quarter 2026, Legacy service revenues declined about 25% year over year, and management expects a decline of 20% plus for full-year 2026. The company's long-term growth story relies on massive investments in fiber and wireless infrastructure. It is accelerating fiber deployment, investing $19 billion in California alone through 2030, which places pressure on free cash flow.
It faces stiff competition in the U.S. wireless and broadband market. Major rivals like Verizon and Charter are also aggressively investing in fiber, fixed wireless access, and customer acquisition. T must continue offering attractive pricing, bundled services, and network improvements to maintain subscriber growth. Spending on promotional activities and lucrative discounts will put pressure on the margin.
Verizon has been aggressively bundling wireless and broadband services through its myPlan and myHome offerings. The company has also been expanding its fiber footprint through the Frontier acquisition and growing fixed wireless access to deepen customer relationships and increase cross-selling opportunities. These strategies from Verizon can impact AT&T’s customer acquisition efforts to some extent.
AT&T's leverage increased following the Lumen transaction. Net debt-to-adjusted EBITDA ended first-quarter 2026 at 2.71x, up from 2.53x at the end of fourth-quarter 2025, primarily due to the Lumen transaction close. As of the first quarter of 2026, T’s current ratio stands at 0.92. A current ratio lower than unity suggests that it might face difficulties in fulfilling its short-term debt obligations.
Key Growth Drivers
AT&T is rapidly expanding its fiber infrastructure nationwide through organic deployments and strategic acquisitions. The company added strong fiber and fixed wireless customers during the first quarter. Management expects fiber reach to exceed 60 million locations by the end of the decade.
It has been implementing several initiatives to drive customer retention over the past several quarters. Its convergence strategy has become one of the central pillars of these retention efforts. The company is focused on increasing the number of households that subscribe to both AT&T wireless and broadband services, including AT&T Fiber and AT&T Internet Air.
When customers get dependent on multiple services from a single vendor, it becomes difficult for them to change service providers. From a user’s point of view, opting for fiber and wireless services from a single vendor reduces complexity for them as well. This trend improves customer retention, lowers churn and increases long-term customer value. AT&T's postpaid phone churn improved sequentially to 0.89% in the first quarter of 2026 from 0.98% in the fourth quarter of 2025, reflecting stronger customer retention.
AT&T is strengthening its presence in the connected car market through partnerships with major automakers. Recent agreements with Lexus and Rivian expand AT&T's 5G connectivity solutions into next-generation vehicles. T is supporting over-the-air software updates, enhanced infotainment, navigation, and personalized in-car services. It is broadening its Connected Car platform through collaborations with LiveOne and Cisco. For automakers, the AT&T platform streamlines the deployment of digital entertainment offerings in vehicles. Venturing into this market diversifies T’s revenue stream beyond its legacy telecom business and boosts resilience in its business model.
T is planning to invest $19 billion in California for network modernization. The company plans to expand fiber access to more than four million additional locations and add over 1,200 wireless sites by 2030. Such strategic investment is expected to improve service reliability and also support the company’s convergence strategy.

AT&T Declines 19.3% in Three Months: How to Play the Stock?

In early trading on Wednesday, shares of Charter Communications topped the list of the day's best performing components of the Nasdaq 100 index, trading up 3.1%. Year to date, Charter Communications has lost about 28.9% of its value.
And the worst performing Nasdaq 100 component thus far on the day is Zscaler, trading down 27.4%. Zscaler is lower by about 40.4% looking at the year to date performance.
Two other components making moves today are PDD Holdings, trading down 10.5%, and Applovin, trading up 3.1% on the day.

New CEO Greg Abel appears willing to tighten up Berkshire Hathaway's focus on just the best and most meaningful investment opportunities.

While investors have historically closely followed the conglomerate's stock holdings, Berkshire may prioritize stock picks less in the future.
Greg Abel's first quarter as Berkshire Hathaway's (NYSE: BRKA) (NYSE: BRKB) CEO is officially in the books. And things certainly seem at least a little bit different than how they were when Warren Buffett was at the helm.
With the exception of its expanded stake in Alphabet, which is now the conglomerate's fifth-largest holding, and a cut to its investment in Chevron, there wasn't much change in the company's top 10 equity positions -- which make up roughly 80% of the portfolio's value at recent prices.

There are still some big takeaways to glean from the seemingly small changes Abel made in Q1, however, that could make a meaningful impact on this ticker's long-term performance. Here are the three most important ones I see.
1. Not bothering with pointlessly small positions
While Berkshire Hathaway's biggest holdings didn't change much last quarter, many of the smaller ones did. In addition to Charter Communications and Aon, Abel also shed longtime holdings Visa and Mastercard, along with a relatively recently acquired position in Amazon.
The common thread among the 16 stocks sold entirely in Q1? Not a single one of them accounted for more than 1% of the value of Berkshire Hathaway's entire stock portfolio. Even if any of these names were destined for big gains, it would have made little net impact.
Honestly, I never understood why Buffett bothered with such small positions. They seemed like more of a distraction that Abel doesn't want.
2. Letting go of losers
There's much to be said for being willing to hold onto a stock for Buffett's favorite holding period of "forever." There's also something to be said for being willing to bail out of an underperforming position -- even at a loss -- when it's clear that something's not panning out.
That's what Abel seems to think, anyway. Despite owning some of them for only a few quarters, Berkshire got out of positions in Pool Corp., UnitedHealth, and Domino's Pizza and sold most of its stake in Constellation Brands (NYSE: STZ), just to name a few. In most cases, these exits would have locked in a loss.
It's difficult to disagree with the decisions, though. For instance, while Constellation was a promising turnaround prospect when Berkshire first began accumulating it back in late 2024, it's since become clear that the booze business's headwind may be more secular than cyclical. Gallup reports the number of Americans who regularly consume alcohol reached a multidecade low last quarter. This weakness could last for a full generation.
Ditto for health insurer UnitedHealth. The healthcare system's skyrocketing operating costs and subsequent price increases have reached untenable levels. The business will require a massive overhaul to repair, and it's not clear what it will look like afterward. Berkshire's managers know enough to know they can't afford to wait around for the unknown distant future while weighing the stock down in the present.
3. Willingness to invest in special situations
The line dividing undervalued stocks and long-shot turnaround stories can sometimes be blurry. Buffett usually remained on the "undervalued" side of the fence and was rewarded for recognizing the right buying opportunities. His willingness to scoop up beaten-down Goldman Sachs shares in the midst of 2008's subprime mortgage meltdown, for example, ended up paying off handsomely. In retrospect, it was a no-brainer move.
Abel seems willing to strategically bet on companies with seemingly less resiliency than Goldman. In Q1, for example, he steered Berkshire into new stakes in Delta Air Lines and department store chain Macy's. While these companies aren't doomed, they're both facing serious systemic challenges. For instance, although Delta's revenue has continued to reliably grow, its bottom line has been mostly stagnant since 2016 largely because the highly competitive air travel business continues evolving in ways that pinch its profitability. As for Macy's, why would Abel want to own a piece of a brick-and-mortar retailer that's been reporting declining revenue since 2016? It may have something to do with the fact that Macy's owned real estate alone may be worth more than the company's current market cap.Now it's just a matter of figuring out how to unlock that value.
More to the point, these don't seem like businesses Warren Buffett would have bought into, recognizing something big would need to change to make them worth owning. Indeed, back in his 2007 letter to Berkshire shareholders, Buffett bluntly wrote, "The airline industry's demand for capital ever since that first flight has been insatiable. Investors have poured money into a bottomless pit, attracted by growth when they should have been repelled by it."
Bonus: Fewer stocks, more wholly owned businesses... maybe
Finally, while Berkshire Hathaway added or expanded stock positions during the first quarter, the cash hoard continues to grow, reaching a record $397 billion as of the end of March.
It's broadly understandable. Stocks as a whole are unusually expensive right now, with the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) priced at roughly 22 times its projected earnings.
Not every stock is wildly overvalued here, however. Indeed, data from Yardeni Research indicates that without the artificial intelligence (AI)-centric "Magnificent Seven" stocks' valuations factored in, the S&P 500's forward-looking price-to-earnings ratio is a much more palatable 19. Point being, there are reasonably priced equities out there, if Abel wants Berkshire Hathaway to buy them. He doesn't -- at least not yet.
So what does he want to do with all that cash? While he may be waiting for a more compelling economic backdrop to start making bigger equity investments, it's also possible this is the beginning of a more philosophical shift away from a somewhat broken stock market and toward more outright ownership of cash-generating businesses that Berkshire can wholly control. As a reminder, Berkshire Hathaway completed its acquisition of Occidental Petroleum's chemical business, OxyChem, at the beginning of this year. Although it already operates in the chemical space via Lubrizol and LiquidPower, Berkshire didn't really need to outright buy OxyChem. It just wanted to.
One deal doesn't make a trend. All trends, however, start with that first step. And honestly, less reliance on increasingly volatile stocks and more exposure to privately held businesses may be the best thing for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders for the foreseeable future.

I Still Like the Stock, but This Definitely Isn't Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Anymore

Greg Abel has been with Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB) for 26 years, since the holding company acquired MidAmerican Energy. He rose through the company's ranks and was hand-picked by Warren Buffett to take over when he retired, and that happened earlier this year.
Although he's been CEO of Berkshire Hathaway for several months, the 2026 first quarter was his first in the top position. The first-quarter 13F Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing reporting the company's positions gives investors a glimpse into how Abel is managing its $330 billion equity portfolio.
Abel has put his clear imprint on the portfolio, although he hasn't departed radically from Buffett's style. There were several notable changes, including new positions in Delta Airlines and Macy's and a tripling of the position in Alphabet.
Also notable was that Abel sold out of 16 positions. There had been prior reports that he'd sold out of the positions managed by former investing manager Todd Combs, and Abel had also let shareholders know in his first annual report back in February that he would focus on a concentrated group of high-conviction stocks.

These were all smaller positions, including newer holdings like UnitedHealth and Heico as well as stocks that had been in the portfolio for years, such as Visa and Mastercard. The largest position was Visa, which had been 1.1% of the portfolio before the sell-off.
It's still Berkshire Hathaway
Not including investments in Japan, the portfolio is left with 29 positions. These include Buffett's favorite stocks: Apple, American Express, and Coca-Cola, the top three positions, plus Moody's, which Buffett has also cited as an example of an excellent company.
While the selling of positions, about a third of Berkshire's total, makes the portfolio look very different, the Buffett flavor is still strong. Abel didn't sell any of the bank stocks, which have always featured strongly in the portfolio, and he kept a large group of financial stocks, such as American Express.
Macy's and Delta both fit into the classic Buffett schema, and Delta has been in the portfolio before. The standout from the quarter is the major investment in Alphabet, but investors shouldn't be too surprised. Buffett was already a big Apple fan, so there's a precedent for investing in the right kind of tech stock.
The report confirms that Abel isn't out to change the company's equity model, and Berkshire Hathaway's sagging stock ticked higher on the news.

Insiders Are Buying These 3 Stocks
Many investors keep a close eye on insider transactions, as they can often give a decent read surrounding the longer-term picture.
Of course, it's important to note that insiders have a longer holding period than most, and many strict rules apply to their transactions.
Recently, insiders of several companies – Charter Communications, Waste Connections and Ecolab – have made splashes, acquiring shares. Let's take a closer look at the transactions for those interested in trading like the insiders.
Ecolab Director Buys
Ecolab shares had a strong start to 2026 before cooling off in recent months, overall down 6% and underperforming relative to the S&P 500. A director recently picked up 1k shares at an overall transaction value of just over $250k, bringing their total shares held to roughly 25k.
The share's weakness over the last several months could have reflected an enticing opportunity for the director, with the growth picture remaining decently solid for a company residing in the Basic Materials sector. EPS is expected to grow by 13% in its current fiscal year and 14% in FY27, with sales expected to be up 9% in FY26 and 5.4% in FY27, respectively.
Shares also pay a nice dividend, currently yielding 1.2% annually. Dividend growth is also there, with Ecolab sporting an 8.8% five-year annualized dividend growth rate.
Charter Communications Director Makes Big Splash
A director of Charter Communications made a big splash recently, acquiring nearly 10k shares at an overall transaction value of just under $1.4 million. The director now holds approximately 19.3k shares, with the buy essentially doubling their position.
CHTR shares have had a tough ride in 2026 so far, down nearly 33% and facing big pressure after its latest set of quarterly results. Sales growth is expected to be flat for its current and next fiscal years, but earnings are still forecasted to grow 19% and 11%, respectively. While the improving profitability picture is a nice positive, the weak sales growth is a big factor that's weighed on overall sentiment.
That said, the recent insider buys do help instill a level of confidence from a long-term perspective, but it's more beneficial to simply keep an eye on the stock for now and wait until a positive set of quarterly results rolls in to help confirm a turnaround in its revenue outlook.
Waste Connections CEO Buys
The CEO of Waste Connections recently dove in with a sizable 50k share purchase, with the overall transaction value coming in at roughly $7.6 million. They now hold just over 300k WCN shares, with the recent purchase increasing their position by a fairly large margin.
WCN shares have also faced some adverse action in 2026, down over 9% and underperforming relative to the S&P 500. But the growth picture still remains solid, with earnings forecasted to grow 7% in its current FY26 and then see an acceleration to a 12.3% growth rate in 2027. Concerning the top line, sales are expected to grow 5.6% in FY26 and 6% in FY27.
Sales growth has remained steady over recent years, with shares also currently yielding 0.8% annually. It's shown a strong commitment to increasingly rewarding shareholders, boasting a 11.5% five-year annualized dividend growth rate.
Bottom Line
Many investors closely monitor insider buys, looking to receive insights into the longer-term picture. The transactions shouldn't be relied on for near-term performance, as insiders' holding periods are longer than most, and many strict rules apply.
Rather, investors can see insider buys as an overall net positive concerning the longer-term outlook.
