Further, the company offers communications products and managed service solutions; data connectivity services to mobile and wireline carriers on a wholesale basis; and owns and operates regional sports networks and news channels. It serves approximately 32 million customers in 41 states. Charter Communications, Inc.was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut.

Gray purchased 4,556 shares of LW, for a cost of $43.85 each, for a total investment of $199,781. Lamb Weston Holdings is trading up about 1.5% on the day Wednesday. This purchase marks the first one filed by Gray in the past twelve months.
And at Charter Communications, there was insider buying on Tuesday, by Director Balan Nair who bought 1,000 shares for a cost of $175.46 each, for a total investment of $175,460. Before this latest buy, Nair made one other buy in the past year, purchasing $98,716 shares at a cost of $274.21 each. Charter Communications is trading off about 1% on the day Wednesday. Bargain hunters are able to pick up CHTR even cheaper than Nair did, with the stock trading as low as $169.73 in trading on Wednesday which is 3.3% under Nair's purchase price.

Intel rose more than +23% to a record high to lead chipmakers higher after forecasting Q2 revenue of $13.8 billion to $14.8 billion, well above expectations of $13.04 billion. The surge in Intel has reignited optimism over the economic potential of artificial intelligence for semiconductor manufacturers. Software stocks also rallied on Friday, adding to the bullish momentum.

Stocks added to their gains Friday amid optimism that the US and Iran are moving toward talks after days of deadlock. President Trump said he will send two envoys to Pakistan this weekend for talks with Iran, and the New York Times reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will meet with a US envoy in Islamabad on Saturday.
Stocks maintained their gains on Friday as bond yields fell, following the Department of Justice (DOJ) announcement that it was dropping its investigation into Fed Chair Powell over cost overruns in the Federal Reserve's renovation. The ending of the DOJ probe into Fed Chair Powell may now persuade Senator Tillis to drop his opposition to appointing Fed nominee Warsh as the next Fed Chair, as Tillis had vowed to block Warsh’s confirmation unless the DOJ investigation was dropped.
Friday’s US economic news was supportive of stocks. The University of Michigan US Apr consumer sentiment index was revised upward by +2.2 to 49.8, stronger than expectations of 48.5. The University of Michigan US Apr 1-year inflation expectations were revised downward by -0.1 to 4.7% from 4.8%. The Apr 5-10 year inflation expectations were revised upward by +0.1 to a 6-month high of 3.5% from 3.4%.
The US and Iran are locked in a battle for control of the Strait of Hormuz, with both sides blocking the waterway to gain leverage during an extended ceasefire. The US increased pressure on Iran with its naval blockade as it seeks to get Iran to agree to talks, while Israel and Lebanon are set to extend a ceasefire for three weeks.
WTI crude oil prices (CLM26) fell by more than -1% on Friday after Pakistani officials said a second round of US-Iran talks was expected. The Strait of Hormuz remains essentially closed, threatening to deepen the global energy crisis. The ongoing blockade could exacerbate global oil and fuel shortages, as about a fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas transits through the strait. Goldman Sachs estimates that crude output in the Persian Gulf has been curtailed by about 14.5 million bpd, or more than 50%, so far in April, and that the current disruption has drawn down nearly 500 million bbl from global crude stockpiles, which could hit a billion bbl by June.
Earnings season thus far has been supportive of stocks. As of Friday, 80% of the 139 S&P 500 companies that reported Q1 earnings have beaten estimates. Q1 S&P 500 earnings are projected to climb +12% y/y, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. Stripping out the technology sector, Q1 earnings are projected to increase around +3%, the weakest in two years.
The markets are discounting a 1% chance for a +25 bp FOMC rate hike at the April 28-29 policy meeting.
Overseas stock markets settled mixed on Friday. The Euro Stoxx 50 fell to a 2-week low and closed down -0.19%. China's Shanghai Composite closed down -0.33%. Japan's Nikkei Stock 225 closed up +0.97%.
Interest Rates
June 10-year T-notes (ZNM6) on Friday closed up +5.5 ticks. The 10-year T-note yield fell -2.0 bp to 4.304%. Jun T-notes recovered from early losses on Friday and moved higher, and the 10-year T-note yield fell from a 1.5-week high of 4.353% and moved lower. T-notes rebounded on Friday after WTI crude oil gave up a +1% advance and fell more than -1%, easing inflation concerns.
Gains in T-notes accelerated on Friday after the DOJ said it was dropping its investigation of Fed Chair Powell over building-renovation costs at the Federal Reserve. The ending of the investigation into Fed Chair Powell may persuade Senator Tillis to drop his opposition to appointing Fed nominee Warsh as the next Fed Chair, as Tillis had vowed to block Warsh’s confirmation unless the DOJ investigation was dropped. Speculation is that Mr. Warsh will take a more dovish tone to Fed policy than outgoing Fed Chair Powell.
European government bond yields moved lower on Friday. The 10-year German bund yield fell -1.5 bp to 2.994%. The 10-year UK gilt yield fell from a 4-week high of 4.993% and finished down by -2.7 bp to 4.912%.
The German Apr IFO business confidence index fell -1.9 to a nearly 6-year low of 84.4, weaker than expectations of 85.7.
ECB Governing Council member Peter Kazimir said the war in Iran might necessitate a slight increase in ECB interest rates.
UK Mar retail sales ex-autos rose +0.2% m/m, stronger than expectations of no change m/m.
Swaps are discounting a 9% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on April 30.
US Stock Movers
Intel (INTC) closed up more than 23% to lead chip stocks higher and gainers in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 after forecasting Q2 revenue of $13.8 billion to $14.8 billion, well above expectations of $13.04 billion. Also, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and ARM Holdings Plc (ARM) closed up more than +13%, and Qualcomm (QCOM) closed up more than +11%. In addition, KLA Corp (KLAC) closed up more than +5%, and Nvidia (NVDA) closed up more than +4% to lead gainers in the Dow Jones Industrials. Finally, Lam Research (LRCX) and Micron Technology (MU) closed up more than +3%, and Applied Materials (AMAT) and ASML Holding NV (ASML) closed up more than +2%.
Software stocks rallied on Friday, helping support gains in the broader market. ServiceNow (NOW) closed up more than +6%, and Atlassian (TEAM) and Cadence Design Systems (CDNS) closed up more than +5%. Chemed Corp (CHE) closed up more than +10% after reporting Q1 adjusted EPS of $5.65, stronger than the consensus of $5.30.
Hims & Hers Health (HIMS) closed up more than +8% after JPMorgan Chase initiated coverage on the stock with a recommendation of overweight and a price target of $35.
Edwards Lifesciences (EW) closed up more than +5% after reporting Q1 adjusted EPS of 78 cents, better than the consensus of 73 cents.
Procter & Gamble (PG) closed up more than +2% after reporting Q3 net sales of $21.24 billion, above the consensus of $20.50 billion.

Investors dumped Charter after the company's Q1 report
Charter reported earnings of $9.17 per share on revenue of $13.59 billion in the first quarter. The telecom specialist's sales came in roughly $50 million above the average analyst estimate, but earnings per share saw a more significant shortfall -- coming in $0.91 per share lower than the consensus estimate.
Monthly residential revenue per residential customer came in at $118.44 for the period -- a decline of 1.4% year over year. Meanwhile, internet segment revenue declined 1.3% year over year to $5.9 billion.
What's next for Charter?
Charter saw a meaningful decline in internet customers last quarter even as the company carried out significant bundling and promotional initiatives in the quarter. While today's sell-off has pushed the stock down to much cheaper levels, investors may want to wait for some indicators of potential turnaround catalysts before betting big on the stock.

The ongoing blockade could exacerbate global oil and fuel shortages, as about a fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas transits through the strait.
Earnings season continues this week. So far, 81% of the 123 S&P 500 companies that reported Q1 earnings have beaten estimates. Q1 S&P 500 earnings are projected to climb +12% y/y, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. Stripping out the technology sector, Q1 earnings are projected to increase around +3%, the weakest in two years.
The markets are discounting a 1% chance for a +25 bp FOMC rate hike at the April 28-29 policy meeting.
Overseas stock markets are mixed today. The Euro Stoxx 50 fell to a 2-week low and is down -0.20%. China's Shanghai Composite closed down -0.33%. Japan's Nikkei Stock 225 closed up +0.97%.
Interest Rates
June 10-year T-notes (ZNM6) today are down -3 ticks. The 10-year T-note yield is up +2.7 bp to 4.351%. Jun T-notes are under pressure today, and the 10-year T-note yield rose to a 1.5-week high of 4.353%. Today's strength in stocks has reduced safe-haven demand for government debt securities and is weighing on T-notes. Losses are limited in T-notes; however, after WTI crude oil gave up a +1% advance and fell more than -1%, which eases inflation expectations and is supportive for T-notes.
European government bond yields are moving higher today. The 10-year German bund yield is up +1.4 bp to 3.023%. The 10-year UK gilt yield rose to a 4-week high of 4.993% and is up by +3.4 bp to 4.972%.
The German Apr IFO business confidence index fell -1.9 to a nearly 6-year low of 84.4, weaker than expectations of 85.7.
ECB Governing Council member Peter Kazimir said the war in Iran might necessitate a slight interest rate increase by the ECB.
UK Mar retail sales ex-autos rose +0.2% m/m, stronger than expectations of no change m/m.
Swaps are discounting an 8% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on April 30.
US Stock Movers
Intel (INTC) is up more than 22% to lead chip stocks higher and gainers in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 after forecasting Q2 revenue of $13.8 billion to $14.8 billion, well above expectations of $13.04 billion. Also, Qualcomm (QCOM) is up more than +12%, and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and ARM Holdings Plc (ARM) are up more than +10%. In addition, Lam Research (LRCX) is up more than +4%, and KLA Corp (KLAC), Micron Technology (MU), Applied Materials (AMAT), and ASML Holding NV (ASML) are up more than +2%.
Organon & Co. (OGN) is up more than +25% after the Economic Times reported that Sun Pharma is planning to submit a binding offer of $13 billion for the company.
Chemed Corp (CHE) is up more than +17% after reporting Q1 adjusted EPS of $5.65, stronger than the consensus of $5.30.
Edwards Lifesciences (EW) is up more than +5% after reporting Q1 adjusted EPS of 78 cents, better than the consensus of 73 cents.
Hims & Hers Health (HIMS) is up more than +4% after JPMorgan Chase initiated coverage on the stock with a recommendation of overweight and a price target of $35.
Procter & Gamble (PG) is up more than +3% to lead gainers in the Dow Jones Industrials after reporting Q3 net sales of $21.24 billion, above the consensus of $20.50 billion.
Comfort Systems USA (FIX) is up more than +2% after reporting Q1 revenue of $2.87 billion, well above the consensus of $2.39 billion.
Charter Communications (CHTR) is down more than -13% to lead losers in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 after reporting Q1 EPS of $9.17, weaker than the consensus of $9.52.
HCA Healthcare (HCA) is down more than -10% after reporting Q1 net income of $1.62 billion, below the consensus of $1.63 billion.
Boyd Gaming (BYD) is down more than -5% after reporting Q1 revenue of $997.4 million, below the consensus of $1 billion.
Comcast (CMCSA) is down more than -4% after Deutsche Bank downgraded the stock to hold from buy.
Eli Lilly (LLY) is down more than -2% after weekly data showed total prescriptions for the company’s Zepbound obesity drug fell -2% compare to the prior week.

S&P 500 Movers: CHTR, INTC

Charter Communications CHTR has reported first-quarter 2026 earnings of $9.17 per share, which missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 8.02%. The reported figure increased 8.9% year over year.
Revenues of $13.6 billion declined 1% year over year, driven by lower residential video revenues, partially offset by growth in residential mobile service and other revenues. The reported figure exceeded the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 0.49%. Residential connectivity revenues grew 0.9% year over year.
CHTR has shown a weak performance, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate in all the trailing four quarters, with an average negative surprise of 5.26%.

CHTR’s Segmental Details
Residential revenues totaled $10.49 billion, down 2.7% year over year due to a decline in residential customers of 1.5% and a decrease in monthly residential revenue per residential customer of 1.4%.
Internet revenues declined 1.3% year over year to $5.9 billion, driven by a decline in Internet customers year over year, partly offset by a favorable change in bundled revenue allocation, promotional rate step-ups and rate adjustments.
Mobile service revenues increased 15.1% year over year to $1.1 billion, driven by mobile line growth and rate adjustments, partly offset by less favorable bundled revenue allocation year over year.
Video revenues totaled $3.3 billion in the first quarter, a decrease of 9.2% year over year.
Voice revenues decreased 5% year over year to $338 million, driven by a decline in wireline voice customers, partly offset by voice rate adjustments.
Commercial revenues increased 1% year over year to $1.8 billion, driven by mid-market and large business revenue growth of 2.1% and a slight increase in small business revenue.
Mid-market and large business revenues excluding wholesale increased 2.8% year over year, mostly reflecting PSU growth of 4.5%.
First-quarter advertising sales revenues of $358 million increased 5.3% from the year-ago quarter, primarily driven by higher political revenues. Excluding political revenues in both periods, advertising sales revenues decreased 3.4% year over year, reflecting lower linear advertising revenues, partly offset by higher streaming advertising revenues.
Other revenues totaled $906 million in the first quarter, an increase of 14.2% from the first quarter of 2025, primarily driven by higher mobile device sales.
CHTR’s Subscriber Statistics
First-quarter total customer relationships declined 1.5% year over year to 31.7 million. Total connectivity customers decreased 1% year over year to 30.5 million.
Total Internet customers decreased by 120K in the first quarter of 2026, compared with a decline of 59K in the year-ago period. As of March 31, 2026, Charter served 29.6 million total Internet customers.
The company added 368K total mobile lines in the first quarter compared with 507K in the year-ago quarter. As of March 31, 2026, it served 12.1 million mobile lines.
Total video customers decreased 60K in the first quarter of 2026 compared with a decline of 181K in the year-ago quarter. As of March 31, 2026, Charter served 12.5 million total video customers. The year-over-year improvement in video net losses was driven by simplified pricing and packaging, and benefits from the inclusion of programmer streaming applications in Spectrum's expanded basic video packages.
In the first quarter of 2026, total wireline voice customers decreased 174K compared with a decline of 278K in the year-ago quarter. As of March 31, 2026, Charter served 5.9 million total wireline voice customers.
In the first quarter of 2026, Charter activated 89K subsidized rural passings. Within CHTR's subsidized rural footprint, total customer relationships increased by 41K.
CHTR’s Operating Details
Total operating costs and expenses decreased 0.2% year over year to $8 billion, driven by lower programming costs, mostly offset by higher other costs of revenue.
First-quarter programming costs decreased $214 million, or 9.3%, from the first quarter of 2025, reflecting $218 million of costs allocated to programmer streaming applications netted within video revenue (versus $47 million in the prior-year period), a higher mix of lower-cost packages and fewer video customers, partially offset by contractual programming rate increases and renewals.
Other costs of revenues increased $181 million, or 11.4% year over year, primarily driven by higher mobile service direct costs and mobile device sales, as well as higher advertising sales costs given higher political revenue.
Field and technology operations expenses decreased $24 million, or 1.8%, year over year, primarily driven by lower labor expense.
Customer operations expenses decreased $6 million, or 0.8%, year over year, primarily due to a decrease in bad debt expense.
Marketing and residential sales expenses decreased $30 million, or 3.2%, year over year, due to lower marketing and labor expenses.
Balance Sheet & Cash Flow
As of March 31, 2026, the total principal amount of debt was $94.3 billion, and Charter's credit facilities provided approximately $4.6 billion in additional liquidity in excess of Charter's $517 million cash position.
In January 2026, CCO Holdings, LLC issued $1.75 billion of 7% senior notes due Feb. 2033 and $1.25 billion of 7.375% senior notes due February 2036. In February 2026, CCO Holdings redeemed $750 million of 5.5% senior notes due 2026 and $2.25 billion of 5.125% senior notes due 2027, effectively refinancing $3 billion of nearer-term maturities into longer-dated obligations.
Free cash flow in the first quarter of 2026 totaled $1.4 billion, an increase from $773 million in the fourth quarter of 2025. The sequential improvement was driven by lower capital expenditures of $2.9 billion in the first quarter compared to $3.3 billion in the prior quarter, a less unfavorable change in accrued expenses related to capital expenditures and higher net cash flows from operating activities.
In the first quarter of 2026, Charter purchased 4.3 million shares of Charter Class A common stock for $963 million.
