Bank of America Corporation, through its subsidiaries, provides banking and financial products and services for individual consumers, small and middle-market businesses, institutional investors, large corporations, and governments worldwide. It operates in four segments: Consumer Banking, Global Wealth & Investment Management (GWIM), Global Banking, and Global Markets. The Global Markets segment provides market-making, financing, securities clearing, settlement, and custody services; securities and derivative products; and risk management products using interest rate, equity, credit, currency and commodity derivatives, foreign exchange, fixed-income, and mortgage-related products. Bank of America Corporation was founded in 1784 and is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Bank of America appears to be a large and profitable bank with a solid capital base, but the market is not valuing it cheaply for the financial sector. Its P/E of 14.27, P/S of 2.40, and P/B of 1.44 are above the industry median, which limits the potential for further re-rating without an acceleration in earnings growth. At the same time, its P/FCF of 4.83 is noticeably below the industry median, indicating strong cash flow and partially offsetting the expensive valuation on earnings and book value. Return on capital looks acceptable: ROE of 10.63 and ROTCE of 13.79 are above or around industry benchmarks, and their 5-year trend is improving, which supports the investment thesis. On the other hand, ROA of 0.93 and ROI of 4.89 are below the median, meaning the efficiency of asset and invested capital use does not yet look outstanding. Profitability margins are also mixed: net, operating, and gross margins are improving year over year, but still remain below industry medians, so earnings quality is improving but does not provide a strong case for an aggressive valuation uplift. Revenue and gross profit show steady growth, while net income and operating income are also increasing, which is an important positive for a bank of this scale. The balance sheet is very large and stable, with a high level of assets, capital, and liquidity; however, debt/equity is above the industry median, and the current ratio and quick ratio are weak, which is not critical for a banking business but still adds some caution. Dividend yield of around 0.5% is low and has declined slightly in recent periods, so the dividend factor is not a strong driver of revaluation. Overall, the fundamentals support the current valuation more than they justify a meaningful increase in the target price: the business is high quality and growing, but the multiples already reflect part of this improvement. For an investor, this implies a moderately positive but not aggressive outlook: there is upside potential, but it is limited by what is now more of a fair valuation than a cheap one, as well as by the stock’s moderate yield.

Market pricing now assigns a 70% probability to a Federal Reserve rate hike at next week's meeting, a shift triggered by August's producer price index climbing 0.4% and pushing the annual wholesale inflation rate to 5.4%, according to CME Group's FedWatch gauge. Traders also nudged the odds of a second increase before year-end to nearly 60% (as cited in CNBC).
As an immediate consequence of this, the current spotlight is on banking stocks and the exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that hold them, as investors recalibrate expectations for net interest margins, loan demand and credit conditions.
However, before discussing those ETFs, understanding the broader macroeconomic picture beyond the single rate decision is essential for making informed portfolio allocation decisions.
What a Rate Hike Means for Banks and the Broader Landscape
The sticky inflation dynamics in America are primarily driving the rate hike narrative.
Meanwhile, U.S. crude oil jumped past $100 a barrel amid prolonged Middle East hostilities with Iran. This, in turn, has prompted the European Central Bank to raise rates recently and revise its inflation forecast higher.
Against this backdrop, Fed chairman Kevin Warsh recently emphasized that the personal consumption expenditures (PCE) index, showing core inflation at 3.3% and headline at 3.7% in July, remains the central bank's official yardstick.
Bank of America economist Stephen Juneau estimates core PCE is tracking at a 0.26% monthly rate, which would round up to 0.3% — enough, in his view, to greenlight a hike.
For banks, the transmission mechanism is nuanced. Higher rates typically expand net interest margins as lenders charge more on loans while keeping deposit costs contained. But, they also pressure borrowers, potentially increasing loan delinquencies and slowing mortgage origination.

Amid this uncertainty — with Friday's consumer price index reading still pending and oil markets volatile — bank ETFs provide diversified exposure to an industry whose earnings are closely tied to the macroeconomic variables currently in flux.

This fund, with AUM of $1.56 billion, offers exposure to 102 Asset Management & Custody Banks, Diversified Banks, Regional Banks, Diversified Financial Services, and Commercial & Residential Mortgage Finance companies. Jackson Financial holds the first spot in this fund, with a 1.23% weightage, while BAC holds the 10th spot with 1.09% weightage.
KBE has gained 12% year to date and charges 35 bps in fees. It traded at a good volume of 1.27 million shares in the last trading session.
State Street SPDR S&P Regional Banking ETF KRE
This fund, with AUM of $4.30 billion, offers exposure to 158 regional banks. Cullen/Frost Bankers, Inc. holds the first spot in this fund, with a 1.48% weightage.
KRE has risen 13.9% year to date and charges 35 bps in fees. It traded at a good volume of 10.24 million shares in the last trading session.

Bank ETFs in Spotlight as Next Week's Fed Rate Hike Odds Hit 70%

JPMorgan’s JPM move to expand corporate banking into Greece adds another leg to its broader European growth strategy. By targeting large and mid-sized companies with lending, financing, hedging and investment banking (IB) services, the bank is positioning itself to deepen client relationships and capture a larger share of the corporate wallet.
The expansion also builds on JPMorgan’s recent investment in the region, including a 25% increase in global corporate banking staff across Europe, the Middle East and Africa over the past two years, underscoring its focus on gaining scale and market share across EMEA.
The Greece expansion could strengthen JPMorgan’s revenue opportunity by widening its corporate client base and creating more scope for cross-selling. Beyond traditional lending, the bank can deepen relationships through treasury, payments, liquidity management, risk solutions and IB services. That broader product mix should help JPMorgan generate both net interest income and fee revenues from the same corporate relationships, supporting more diversified growth over time.
JPMorgan has been building its Greek franchise for several years. In 2022, it announced plans for a new Athens office and a Payments Innovation Lab, initially targeting around 50 hires focused on payments technology, distributed-ledger technology, artificial intelligence and cryptography. The bank’s presence in Greece dates back to 1968, and it already provides IB, payments and asset-management services to Greek clients. Separately, JPMorgan consolidated much of its European Union client-facing operations into J.P. Morgan SE in 2022, creating a more scalable structure for serving customers across the region.
For JPMorgan, Greece alone is unlikely to materially impact near-term results, given the bank’s enormous global scale. However, the expansion is strategically positive. Adding corporate relationships in a growing economy can support loan balances, payments activity, advisory fees and capital-markets revenues over time, while JPMorgan’s existing European infrastructure should provide operating leverage as the business scales.
Expansion Efforts by JPMorgan’s Peers
JPM’s two close peers, Citigroup C and Bank of America BAC, have also been strengthening their international corporate-banking capabilities in ways that echo JPMorgan’s broader EMEA push.
Citigroup continues to lean on its global network to deepen relationships with multinational and institutional clients. In 2025, Citigroup expanded its Token Services platform to Dublin and added euro-denominated transactions, improving 24/7 cross-border liquidity and payment capabilities for corporate clients. More recently, the bank strengthened leadership across its Middle East and Africa franchise, where it operates across 59 markets, reinforcing its focus on cross-border banking, client connectivity and regional growth.
Bank of America has likewise been investing in its global corporate-banking platform, particularly through payments and treasury services. In June 2026, the bank announced plans to launch a cross-border real-time payments solution for corporate, commercial and financial-institution clients, extending the capabilities of its CashPro platform. The effort complements Bank of America’s already strong European corporate-banking franchise and could help it capture more payment flows, deepen client engagement and support fee growth.
JPMorgan’s Price Performance, Valuation & Estimates
Over the past six months, JPM shares have gained 25% compared with the industry’s 27.2% growth.
From a valuation standpoint, JPMorgan trades at a 12-month trailing price-to-tangible book (P/TB) of 3.29X, slightly below the industry average.
The Zacks Consensus Estimate for JPMorgan's 2026 earnings suggests a 22.7% rise on a year-over-year basis, while 2027 earnings are expected to grow at a rate of 0.3%. In the past 30 days, earnings estimates for 2026 and 2027 have moved upward to $24.95 and $25.04, respectively.

Dimon's two-decade tenure
Jamie Dimon became CEO of JPMorgan Chase at the beginning of 2006, following the 2004 merger with Bank One Corporation. This was a pivotal moment in the commercial banking world, as the real estate bubble was heading into overdrive and was about to throw Dimon into the fire.
JPMorgan Chase -- through Dimon and his predecessors -- had the right strategy during the real estate bond boom by building what he calls a "fortress balance sheet" that can survive crises. Competitors became overleveraged on mortgage-backed securities that performed terribly, leading to the crisis we now know as the Great financial crisis.
The bank was not immune to the downturn, but it was one of the few companies that did not need a government bailout (though most banks did receive some form of government assistance to bolster morale). With a stronger balance sheet, JPMorgan was able to buy competitors on the cheap, such as Washington Mutual and Bear Stearns' assets.
We even see this same strategy played out today. During the banking crisis of 2023, JPMorgan acquired First Republic Bank at a dirt cheap price, stabilizing the market and adding tons of new customers. This is why JPMorgan Chase has the most assets of any bank in the United States, at $4.9 trillion. In second place is Bank of America, at $3.5 trillion.
Valuation premium and earnings boost from investment banking
JPMorgan's consumer and commercial banking operations are rock solid, with steadily growing deposit, loan, and card-spending businesses, such as the Chase Sapphire program.
Where the business is shining this year is investment banking, where it has the top ranking for banking fees in 2026, likely due to its prestige and reputation as a solid operator you want in your corner. Investment banking fees were up 30% year over year last quarter and should continue to rise with the Anthropic and OpenAI IPOs (among others) in the pipeline for a record 2026 and early 2027 for capital raising.
With a diversified banking strategy and Dimon at the helm for two decades, JPMorgan commands a premium over its peers. It has a price-to-book value (P/B) of 2.7 and a price-to-earnings ratio (P/E) of 15. The banking sector as a whole has a P/B of 1.66 and a P/E ratio of 12.
Should you buy JPMorgan Chase stock?
A P/E ratio of 15 is undeniably a premium for a slow-growing bank. With a valuation pushing $1 trillion, it is unlikely that JPMorgan Chase stock will deliver hypergrowth returns for your portfolio.
This is not what the stock is meant for. JPMorgan Chase should serve as ballast in your portfolio, delivering steady gains and capital returns through buybacks and dividends. It currently has a dividend yield of 1.7% and has reduced its shares outstanding by 10% over the last five years.
Steady but slow growth, along with these capital returns, should drive earnings per share (EPS) and solid total returns over the long haul, as long as JPMorgan Chase retains its reputation as the premier bank in the United States.

JPMorgan Is About to Become the First $1 Trillion Bank. The Premium Is Riding on 1 Man.

Wholesale prices came in hot on Thursday morning, oil kept climbing, and the market did the math. Odds of a Fed rate hike next week jumped to 70%.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES: ^DJI) dropped 0.4% as of 11:53 a.m. ET, matching the Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX: ^IXIC) and the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC). The major indexes started the day in different moods, but are now a rounding error away from identical.

Oil at $105 may force the Fed's hand
Producer prices rose 5.4% from a year ago in August, up from 4.8% in July. Core wholesale prices, excluding food and energy, climbed 4.6% annually against 4.2% in July. The eye-catching figure is diesel, up 24.1% in a single month and about 78% over the year, which matters because almost everything on a store shelf rode a truck at least part of the way.
Crude kept climbing while the inflation report landed. Brent climbed about 3.5% past $105 a barrel, its first visit since May, and U.S. crude crossed $100. The United States Oil Fund (NYSEMKT: USO) rose 4.5% and was one of the very few things in the green this morning.
Traders responded immediately. CME Group's FedWatch gauge put the odds of a rate hike at the Sept. 15-16 meeting at 70%, and the probability of a second increase by December rose to roughly 60%. The European Central Bank set a global example by hiking its benchmark interest rate by a quarter point this morning. The European bank pointed to the Iran war for its worsening inflation outlook. Will the American Fed focus on the same signals?
Among individual stocks, Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) was the heaviest weight on both the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite after a 2.1% fall. Memory stocks backed down from a winning Wednesday, with Micron Technology (NASDAQ: MU) down 4.1% and SK Hynix (NASDAQ: SKHY) off by 2.7%.
Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) dared to move the other way, gaining 1.4% and adding 27 Dow points, one day after the foldable iPhone launch sent it down 1.1%. The new devices didn't debut to thunderous applause, but Wall Street is drawing different conclusions today.
Friday morning decides everything
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) arrives Friday morning, the final inflation reading before the Fed convenes. Economists expect a 3.4% headline reading and 2.4% at the core.
That single number carries the meeting. Fed governor Christopher Waller has said he'd back holding steady if prices are cooling. Chair Kevin Warsh wants proof that underlying inflation is actually heading down to 2%. Bank of America ran the numbers on Thursday's producer data and thinks that core PCE is tracking at 0.3% for the month, which greenlights a hike in the massive bank's eyes.
Investors watching the tape should note where the pain landed. Rate-sensitive names took most of the beating while defensive consumer goods stocks held up pretty well. Gold and Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) both fell, which is strange on an inflation-scare day and suggests that fears about fundamental rate increases are overshadowing concerns about currency debasement. If that's an unfamiliar term, debasement is the fear that dollars themselves lose value as federal debt piles up.
That's four down days in a row, but the moves have been rather small -- the S&P 500 is still less than 3% below its all-time peak. Friday morning decides whether it stays there.

The Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq All Fell 0.4% on Oil and Inflation

South Africa-based chemical company Sasol (NYSE: SSL) experienced a significant leap in its U.S.-listed equity on Hump Day. Much of this was due to a recommendation upgrade from an analyst at a top bank; with this, Sasol's American Depositary Shares (ADSes) surged to close the day almost 10% higher.
Edging into buy territory
Well before market open, Bank of America Securities prognosticator Sashank Lanka changed his rating on Sasol from neutral to buy. He also lifted his price target on the company's South Africa-listed shares to 270 rand ($18.86) from 200 rand ($12.49).

According to reports, Lanka waxed bullish on Sasol's opportunities in the oil segment. He believes these could more than double the company's free cash flow (FCF) to 33 billion rand ($2.1 billion) in its current fiscal year, then drop to a still-considerable 26 billion rand ($1.6 billion) in 2028.
With that kind of improvement, the analyst speculated that Sasol might have enough scope to reinstate its dividend. In its full-year earnings announcement published at the end of August, the company said it was effectively suspending the payout because net debt exceeded its threshold for paying dividends.
Caution warranted
We're still at, or near, the bottom of a down cycle in the global chemicals industry, and it doesn't feel as if the recovery will be quick.
While Sasol has numerous strengths as a business, a major weakness is that it operates in a sector with few clear catalysts for a general upswing. I feel this will remain a drag on the company, no matter how well the oil operations do, so I'd remain very cautious on this stock.

That probably explains why Micron stock has pulled back 17% from the 52-week highs it reached toward the end of June. Savvy investors, however, have been capitalizing on the drop in Micron's shares. The 14% jump in Micron stock over the past month suggests that investor confidence in the company's prospects is improving once again.
Let's see why that's the case.
The memory supercycle is here to stay until 2030, at least
Memory chips play a central role in artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. The dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) manufactured by Micron is used in AI accelerators, such as graphics cards, custom AI processors, and even central processing units, to ensure that huge data sets are quickly fed to these chips to run AI workloads seamlessly.
AI accelerators use a specialized type of DRAM known as high-bandwidth memory (HBM), which is manufactured by stacking multiple DRAM chips into a single package. As a result, producing one HBM unit requires 3x the wafer capacity needed to manufacture a conventional DRAM unit. This explains the ongoing memory shortage.
Memory manufacturers have been ramping up HBM output to meet demand from AI data centers. That's not surprising, as Bank of America sees the HBM market jumping 7x by 2030, generating $246 billion in revenue by the end of the forecast period. The investment bank has a price target of $1,550 on Micron, implying 55% upside.
However, I think Micron could deliver bigger gains by the end of the decade, especially considering that DRAM demand could exceed supply by 22% in 2030, according to equity research provider Citrini Research. This shortage is likely to keep DRAM prices elevated until the end of the decade, paving the way for more upside in Micron stock.
It is still a good idea to invest $10,000 in Micron
Micron will report its fiscal 2026 results on Sept. 30. The company's earnings per share are projected to increase by almost 9x in the recently concluded fiscal year to $73.40. What's more, Micron's earnings could increase by 111% in fiscal 2027 to $155.03. Importantly, analysts expect Micron to clock solid triple-digit earnings growth over the long run.
But even if Micron's bottom line increases at a very conservative annual rate of 20% until fiscal 2030, its earnings per share could reach $267.89 by the end of the decade (from $155.03 per share in the current fiscal year that has just begun).
If Micron trades at even 10 times earnings in 2030, a significant discount to its trailing earnings multiple of 21, its stock price could hit $2,679. That's just over 2.6x its current stock price. So, Micron could turn a $10,000 investment into more than $26,000 in the next four years, suggesting that it isn't too late for investors to buy this AI stock.

Shares of ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW), a cloud-based enterprise software company, jumped last month as investors shook off their fears that artificial intelligence would eliminate the need for traditional software companies.
Salesforce shares popped 33% in August, according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence, following strong quarterly results from fellow enterprise software company Salesforce.

Fears of a "SaaS-pocalypse" were tamed, for now
Investors have been skittish about ServiceNow and other software stocks this year, worried that AI will eliminate the need for traditional software. And while some companies are being disrupted, it's not necessarily the case for ServiceNow and its peers.
The best example of this, and what helped ServiceNow stock jump last month, was Salesforce's recent quarterly results. Salesforce's second-quarter revenue rose to $11.3 billion, ahead of consensus estimates, and its non-GAAP earnings per share of $5.90 far outpaced Wall Street's average estimate.
Salesforce's management also issued strong revenue guidance for its full fiscal 2027, with revenue estimates of about $46.3 billion, at the midpoint, representing a nearly 12% increase from 2026.
Adding to the good news for Salesforce -- and by association, ServiceNow -- was the fact that the company's AI "Agentforce" achieved an annualized revenue run rate of $3.9 billion -- up 210% from the year-ago quarter.
That achievement was particularly important for ServiceNow investors because the company has its own AI agents that operate within its software, automating tasks and streamlining workflows. ServiceNow investors hope that if Salesforce can grow its AI agent revenue and fend off AI competitors, ServiceNow may be able to do the same.
Rising optimism for ServiceNow stock, but volatility is likely
In August, Bank of America analyst Tal Liani raised his price target for ServiceNow stock to $150, up from $130, and maintained a buy rating. More recently, an analyst at BTIG Research raised their price target for ServiceNow to $170 from $150, while maintaining a buy rating.
That's provided some additional optimism for ServiceNow shareholders, but the stock will likely remain volatile until investors settle on whether AI will overpower some software stocks. It's a difficult question to answer, and while I personally think companies like ServiceNow can benefit from AI, I understand that it isn't a closed debate just yet.
ServiceNow shareholders will get more insights when the company reports its third-quarter results in late October. But I suspect that ServiceNow and its peers will continue to experience frequent share price fluctuations as investors process the threat of AI in real time. That doesn't mean ServiceNow shares aren't worth owning, but just know it could be a bit of a ride for a little while longer.

Why ServiceNow Stock Popped 33% Last Month

The nuclear energy market sputtered out for roughly a decade after the Fukushima disaster in 2011. As more countries paused their nuclear expansion plans, the price of uranium plummeted, many miners shut down their mines, and nuclear plant builders went bankrupt.
But over the past few years, the nuclear market warmed up again as the power-hungry cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence (AI) markets expanded, governments launched new decarbonization initiatives, and companies introduced safer and cleaner nuclear technologies.

According to Grand View Research, the global nuclear market could still expand at a steady 4.9% CAGR from 2026 to 2033. If you want to profit from that recovery, you should consider investing in Uranium Energy (NYSEMKT: UEC) and BWX Technologies (NYSE: BWXT).
Uranium Energy
The nuclear market's expansion boosted uranium's spot price from $43.08 at the end of Jan. 2022 to $89.68 at the end of Aug. 2026. That's why shares of Uranium Energy, a provider of uranium extraction services, have rallied 274% over the past five years.
Uranium Energy pumps an oxygen-enriched solution into the earth to dissolve and recover uranium. These In-Situ Recovery (ISR) plants, which are located across the U.S., Canada, and Paraguay, are cheaper and more environmentally friendly than the underground and open-pit mines used by conventional uranium miners.
Unlike conventional miners, which typically lock customers into long-term, fixed-price contracts, Uranium Energy sells all of its output at uranium's spot price. Therefore, Uranium Energy is better-positioned to profit from rising uranium prices than its mining peers -- but it's also more exposed to declining spot prices.
Therefore, if you expect the nuclear energy market's resurgence to boost uranium's price to new record highs within the next few years, Uranium Energy is a good long-term investment. Bank of America's analysts expect uranium's spot price to rise to $130 per pound in 2027.
From 2025 to 2028, Wall Street expects Uranium Energy's revenue to grow at a 59% CAGR to $270 million. They also expect its adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) to turn positive in 2027 and more than double to $199 million in 2028.
With an enterprise value of $5.2 billion, Uranium Energy's stock isn't cheap at 43 times next year's sales. But if uranium's spot price continues to rise, its rally should persist as more governments and utilities recognize the value of cleaner, cheaper uranium.
BWX Technologies
BWX Technologies was spun off from Babcock & Wilcox (NYSE: BW) in 2015. It's the only large-scale manufacturer of specialized nuclear components, fuel systems, and naval reactor systems in North America. It's authorized to work with regulated nuclear materials, handle high-assay enriched uranium (HALEU) and tri-structural isotropic (TRISO) fuel, operate large precision nuclear fabrication facilities, and develop naval nuclear components for the U.S. Navy.
That diversification and scale enable BWX to control a crucial part of North America's nuclear supply chain. It generates most of its revenue from the defense sector, so it was better insulated from the post-Fukushima nuclear slowdown than many of its industry peers.
To expand and evolve after its spin-off from Babcock & Wilcox, BWX acquired six more companies, launched engineering support services for developers of small modular reactors (SMRs), and secured additional U.S. Navy contracts. By the end of 2025, its backlog had swelled 50% year over year to $7.3 billion, driven by the robust market demand for its naval propulsion components, commercial nuclear power components, and specialty materials. That's more than double its $3.2 billion in revenue in 2025.
From 2025 to 2028, analysts expect BWX's revenue and adjusted EBITDA to grow at CAGRs of 12% and 11%, respectively. With an enterprise value of $15.9 billion, it trades at less than four times next year's sales -- but it could command a higher valuation as its government and commercial businesses expand.

2 Nuclear Energy Stocks to Buy Before 2026 Ends

Its fourth-quarter results crushed analyst estimates.
Analysts were quick to raise their price targets on the stock in the wake of that earnigs report.
Cloud and enterprise software company Nutanix (NASDAQ: NTNX) probably doesn't want the summer to end, given how well its stock did in August. Boosted by the estimates-trouncing fiscal fourth-quarter and full-year report it posted toward the end of the month and a subsequent wave of analyst price targets, its shares exited August with a more than 16% gain.
A fabulous final frame
The month didn't exactly start on a high note for Nutanix. Four days into it, the company divulged in a regulatory filing that it aimed to reduce its workforce by roughly 5%. Stating that this decision was reached after a review of its business structure, Nutanix said the move will cost it roughly $33 million to $43 million. The reductions should be complete by the end of October.

The company had better news to impart with that earnings report. The final frame of its 2026 fiscal year saw it book just over $757 million in revenue, up 16% year over year. Annual recurring revenue at the end of the quarter and year was also 16% higher, at $2.55 billion.
Net income not under generally accepted accounting principles (non-GAAP, or adjusted) was more than $175 million, or $0.60 per diluted share. That was a robust 61% higher than the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025 result.
It was also far above the consensus analyst estimate of $0.49. The same could be said for the company's revenue that quarter, which well exceeded the average pundit expectation of slightly more than $738 million.
In its earnings release, Nutanix quoted CEO Rajiv Ramaswami as saying the quarter "was a strong finish to fiscal 2026, a year in which we delivered solid top and bottom line performance and added over 3,000 new customers."
Management clearly doesn't believe that will be the last time the company will outperform.
It proffered strong guidance for both revenue and free cash flow (FCF) for the entirety of fiscal 2027. The top-line is forecast at $3.18 billion to $3.23 billion, while the outlook for FCF is $850 million to $950 million.
A bunch of bulls
For obvious reasons, investors liked what they heard about the quarter and reacted by driving Nutanix's stock higher in the days that followed. Some were probably influenced by the series of analyst price target raises immediately following earnings. The raisers included pundits from top financial companies Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, and Wells Fargo.
I'd be inclined to agree with those prognosticators and the bullish investors buying in at the end of the month. Nutanix continues to have a compelling business proposition with its "hyperconverged infrastructure," which bundles advanced compute, networking, and storage on a single platform. I think this stock has quite a high ceiling these days.

Why Nutanix Stock Ascended in August

Warren Buffett led Berkshire Hathaway to six decades of market-beating returns thanks to his ability to choose quality companies and hold onto them for the long term. Buffett often made significant bets on a handful of players and stuck with them. For example, companies such as Coca-Cola and American Express have been among his leading positions for years.
Buffett retired at the end of 2025 and handed over the investment reins -- the chief executive officer position -- to Greg Abel. The billionaire carefully selected Abel, who already played a key role at the company as vice chairman of non-insurance business operations. And Abel pledged to continue on the Buffett-established track: favoring quality businesses, getting in at reasonable prices, and sticking with them over time.

Today, Abel has 68% of Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio invested in just five stocks. Here's my top pick for September.
Berkshire Hathaway's top five stocks
So, first, a quick look at the Berkshire Hathaway portfolio's five biggest positions, in order. They are Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), American Express, Coca-Cola, Alphabet, and Bank of America. Each of these companies has been a major holding for years, with the exception of Alphabet. Buffett first bought that stock last year, and Abel significantly added to the position this year, showing a growing belief in the tech company's long-term prospects.
Now, of these five companies, which one is a top pick this month? The answer to that question is smartphone giant, Apple. The company, already a Buffett favorite as the company's No. 1 holding, is entering a particularly interesting period. John Ternus took over as CEO at the start of the month from Tim Cook. Cook did a tremendous job over 15 years, leading Apple through a period of many successes, including the quadrupling of revenue and the launching of key products such as the Apple Watch.
In recent quarters, though, Apple was slower to lean into artificial intelligence (AI) than other tech companies. Apple disappointed some investors when it delayed the release of the newest version of its virtual assistant Siri -- the launch, now expected this month, could highlight Apple's AI capabilities and offer the company a big boost in the AI market.
And speaking of this month, September generally represents a key moment for Apple as it is when the tech giant announces important product launches. In fact, Apple is hosting a launch event on Sept. 9, and investors are expecting the release of Apple Watches and iPhones, along with the Siri update (Siri AI) and the company's first-ever folding phone.
A focus on product innovation
The event also offers Ternus the opportunity to share his vision with Apple fans and investors. Ternus, who was senior vice president of hardware engineering prior to becoming CEO, has a solid engineering and product background -- elements that support a focus on product innovation. This suggests that Apple could possibly be entering a fresh era of product development, something that may pave the way to additional growth drivers down the road.
All of this is very positive for Apple and its investors moving forward and could add to momentum in September. Of course, before buying a stock, it's important to consider valuation. Apple, trading at 36x forward earnings estimates, isn't at its cheapest.
But the stock isn't ridiculously expensive considering what the company has to offer: Apple has an extremely strong moat, or competitive advantage, with fans generally sticking to the iPhone or other Apple products over time. This customer base has created an enormous opportunity for recurring revenue through the selling of services like digital storage and entertainment -- services revenue has reached records quarter after quarter in recent times. Finally, Apple offers investors stability thanks to this loyal customer base and the opportunity for growth due to its innovation and presence in areas such as AI -- even if it's been a late adopter.
All of this makes Apple -- a stock long backed by Buffett and also approved by Abel -- my top pick for September.
