General Dynamics Corporation GD posted strong first-quarter 2026 results, with earnings of $4.10 per share beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $3.68 by 11.41%. The bottom line also rose 12% from the year-ago quarter on solid operating execution.

Revenues of $13.48 billion topped the consensus mark of $12.70 billion by 6.15% and increased 10.3% year over year, supported by growth across all four operating segments and a sharp pickup in order activity that lifted quarterly book-to-bill to 2-to-1.

GD’s Segmental Performance
Marine Systems produced one of the sharpest improvements, supported by higher volume from Virginia- and Columbia-class submarine work and productivity gains across shipyards. The segment generated operating earnings of $316 million and improved operating margin to 7.3% in the quarter.
Aerospace delivered operating earnings of $493 million with a 15.0% margin, supported by improved performance and higher volume, and the business reported 38 Gulfstream aircraft deliveries in the period.
Combat Systems posted operating earnings of $310 million and a 13.6% margin, and the quarter included notable contract wins such as $730 million for various munitions and $450 million tied to the Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle competition pre-production development phase.
Technologies generated operating earnings of $339 million with a 9.5% margin, aided by growth across both GDIT and Mission Systems and solid order flow during the quarter.
GD Delivers Broad-Based Top-Line Growth
The company’s first-quarter revenue increase was supported by contributions from each of its operating businesses. Aerospace benefited from higher manufacturing and services volume, while Marine Systems advanced on higher shipyard volume tied to key submarine programs. Combat Systems and Technologies also registered year-over-year increases, reflecting demand across platforms, munitions and mission-focused services.
That breadth matters for investors because it reduces reliance on any single end market. With each segment expanding, GD entered 2026 with a more balanced growth profile and multiple drivers supporting the consolidated top line.
Operational Highlights of GD
Profitability advanced alongside sales growth. Operating earnings increased year over year to $1.42 billion, and operating margin improved to 10.5%, indicating that incremental revenues are translating into better earnings power.
Below the operating line, earnings before income taxes rose to $1.37 billion, aided by a lower net interest expense compared with the prior-year quarter. Net earnings climbed to $1.13 billion, reflecting both stronger operating performance and improved overall cost and financing dynamics during the period.
GD’s Backlog
Order activity was a highlight of the quarter. GD booked $26.6 billion of orders, driving a consolidated book-to-bill ratio of 2-to-1. The defense segments collectively posted a 2.2-to-1 book-to-bill, while Aerospace delivered a 1.2-to-1 ratio, underscoring healthy demand across the portfolio.
Backlog expanded meaningfully, ending the quarter at $130.84 billion. Total estimated contract value, which includes management’s estimate of additional value in unfunded IDIQ contracts and unexercised options, reached $188.44 billion. This elevated contract coverage provides clearer revenue visibility and positions the company to sustain production and service activity as 2026 progresses.
Financial Condition of GD
Cash generation was another notable strength. Net cash provided by operating activities totaled $2.16 billion in the quarter, equal to 192% of net earnings, reflecting strong cash conversion and working-capital performance. After $203 million of capital expenditures, free cash flow came in at $1.95 billion.
Management continued returning cash to shareholders while maintaining liquidity. The company paid $405 million in dividends and repurchased $217 million of common stock during the quarter. GD ended the period with $3.65 billion in cash and equivalents, and net debt of $4.36 billion, supporting financial flexibility alongside ongoing capital deployment.

RTX Corporation’s RTX first-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings per share of $1.78 beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.52 by 17%. The bottom line improved 21.1% from the year-ago quarter’s level of $1.47.
Quarterly revenues came in at $22.08 billion, up 8.7% from $20.31 billion in the year-ago period. Sales also beat the consensus mark of $21.56 billion by 2.43%.
Northrop Grumman Corporation NOC reported first-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of $6.14 per share, which beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $6.08 by 1%. The bottom line also improved 1.3% from the year-ago quarter’s level of $6.06.
NOC’s total sales of $9.88 billion in the first quarter beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $9.79 billion by 1%. The top line also improved 4.4% from $9.47 billion reported in the year-ago quarter.
The Boeing Company BA incurred an adjusted loss of 20 cents per share in the first quarter of 2026, narrower than the Zacks Consensus Estimate of a loss of 95 cents. The bottom line improved from the year-ago quarter’s reported loss of 49 cents.
Revenues amounted to $22.22 billion, which outpaced the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $21.87 billion by 3.5%. The top line also surged 14% from the year-ago quarter’s reported figure of $19.5 billion.

GD Q1 Earnings Beat Estimates on Strong Orders and Cash Flow

(RTTNews) - The Boeing Company (BA), the aerospace and defense manufacturer, and the Kazakhstani SCAT Airlines, Wednesday announced that the air carrier will expand its fleet with 737 MAX Jets.
The financial details of the order were not divulged.
Previously, the airlines had ordered for five more 737-9 jets to support operational efficiency and expand longer-range single-aisle service, including more routes to Europe and had also converted five 737-8 jets from a prior order to the larger 737-9.
In pre-market activity, BA shares were trading at $230, down 0.34% on the New York Stock Exchange.

Its rival, Archer Aviation (NYSE: ACHR), also plans to launch in Abu Dhabi in 2026.

The eVTOL market is highly competitive
While Joby and Archer capture most of the attention due to their progress toward Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification and upcoming commercial launches, there are plenty of ways to invest in the sector. For example, the U.K.'s Vertical Aerospace (NYSE: EVTL) is seeking certification from the U.K.'s Civil Aviation Authority and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in 2028, with FAA certification to follow.
China's eHang (NASDAQ: EH) has recently launched commercial services in China. Beta Technologies (NYSE: BETA) is developing an electric conventional takeoff and landing (eCTOL) system that will use standard runways and then an eVTOL, both for commercial use, including for cargo customers like UPS.
Interestingly, Beta is selling propulsion systems to Brazil's Embraer-backed Eve (NYSE: EVEX). Meanwhile, Embraer isn't the only major aircraft manufacturer active in the eVTOL niche, as Boeing is investing heavily in its subsidiary, Wisk, an eVTOL company focused on autonomous eVTOL.
Business models differ dramatically
This is where it gets a bit complicated, and also fascinating, because each company appears to have its own business model. Joby is probably the most ambitious because it's pursuing a vertically integrated transportation-as-a-service (TaaS) model. Not only is it developing its own technology, with manufacturing help from key investor Toyota, but it's also creating its own transportation services company through its partnership with Uber.
As such, it's hugely impressive that Joby is leading the certification race and is ahead of rivals like Archer and Vertical, which are primarily original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) relying on established aerospace companies (Honeywell, etc.) for component supplies, such as propulsion systems. In theory, Archer and Vertical should be ahead due to these relationships, but Joby's go-it-alone strategy appears to be working.
That said, it may face intense competition from Boeing's Wisk in a few years. Rather surprisingly, as Boeing is an OEM, it's also developing Wisk as a TaaS company. Still, there's a difference: Wisk aims to cut the cost of the pilot out of its services by developing only autonomous eVTOLs.
Beta is focused on being an OEM company and has customers such as UPS, United Therapeutics, and Air New Zealand. However, it also plans to generate long-term revenue from aftermarket services on its eCTOL and eVTOL and, notably, its electric charging infrastructure, which is based on CCS-1 protocol (making it highly compatible) and is also for use for "all electric aircraft operators," according to its Securities and Exchange Commission filings.
Finally, Embraer's Eve is a fascinating eVTOL company, as its model involves serving as an OEM and leveraging key partners' technologies (for example, Beta, Thales, and BAE Systems), as well as developing an Urban Air Traffic Management system, Vector, which could become the industry standard. In addition, it aims to leverage Embraer's global operations to offer aftermarket maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services to customers.
Which eVTOL stocks to buy?
Clearly, this is a nascent, highly competitive industry, and as you can see, eVTOL stocks have sharply sold off this year. The long-term potential, however, is obvious. Joby probably offers the most upside potential due to its TaaS model and first-mover advantage, but it may need funding to support its growth plans.
Beta probably did its initial public offering at the perfect time (November 2025), and the Wall Street average estimate suggests it will end 2026 with $971 million in net cash and no need to raise capital until it starts generating cash in 2030. Moreover, the combination of reliance on the cargo/logistics market and the opportunity to earn early revenue via the Eve deal and OEM sales makes it an attractive stock for eVTOL investors.

More evidence that Boeing has faced some issues is the fact that it stopped paying dividends in 2020 and has yet to resume them. Still, the company does seem to be improving its safety and quality, so perhaps now might be a good time to take a closer look at this candidate for your long-term portfolio.
Why invest in Boeing?
There are positives aplenty when considering Boeing as an investment:
After many years of losses, Boeing recently posted a net profit.
First-quarter revenue was up 14% year over year. And its "defense, space, and security" division's revenue grew 21%.
It benefits from being in a duopoly, as it and Airbus are the two main companies dominating their industry. It would be difficult for any company to join them, as it's so costly to become a large-scale aircraft manufacturer.
It has been receiving a lot of orders from countries such as Vietnam and Cambodia. As such countries develop, they may continue ordering more planes.
Due to recent global unrest and a U.S. defense budget that's already huge and may keep growing, Boeing may get even more orders.
Why you might not invest in Boeing -- yet
But there are some cautions, too:
Boeing is carrying a lot of debt, recently at $47 billion. (It has been paying that down, though.)
Building airplanes is an incredibly complicated process, so it may remain difficult to navigate quality issues.
The decision, of course, is yours. And if you're not sure enough about Boeing, that's OK, as there are plenty of other attractive stocks to consider. Plus, you can explore solid growth-oriented ETFs.

BA: Is Boeing Stock Still Investable?

I don't know about you, but the idea of space travel gets me a little misty-eyed. And most of the news coming out of companies like SpaceX and NASA's renewed interest in lunar expeditions with the Artemis Program is incredibly exciting.
Human spaceflight, however, doesn't elicit tears of wonder, joy, or optimism at United Launch Alliance these days. ULA, a joint venture between Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC), was established in 2006 to combine the resources and expertise of two of America's aerospace leaders.

Mind you, both companies participated in getting U.S. astronauts to the moon back in 1969. Boeing was behind the Saturn V rocket that sent Apollo 11 into space, and Northrop Grumman designed and built the lunar lander from which Neil Armstrong took his iconic one small step.
A venture between the two should have been a slam dunk, so what's the issue?
Houston, we have a problem
The bulk of United Launch Alliance's problems have to do with its most advanced product, the Vulcan rocket.
On Feb. 12, there was an anomaly in one of the Vulcan's four solid rocket motors noticed by the U.S. Space Force during a satellite launch. The rocket delivered its payload, but Space Force investigated.
A month later, in late March, ULA lost the contract and Space Force switched to SpaceX's proven Falcon 9 rocket for its next mission. ULA has since switched to the older Atlas V rocket for its next few launches for private clients.
The rocket motor that caused the anomaly was Northrop Grumman's GEM 63XL. On April 21, Northrop Grumman said it took a $71 million charge in its first-quarter results as a result of the issue. The GEM 63XL is being investigated before the Vulcan can fly again, and it has not launched since at the time of writing.
So, with the Vulcan grounded for the foreseeable future, who wins from ULA's troubles? The answer is pretty obvious -- it's SpaceX.
To boldly go where no man has gone before
SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket is a proven space vehicle that has completed 629 missions, delivering both satellite payloads to orbit and personnel to the International Space Station. It's no wonder the Space Force opted for it when it needed a rocket on short notice.
The rocket's Merlin engine is an in-house design from SpaceX itself and has contributed to the Falcon 9's 99.4% success rate. Of all the 632 missions the rocket has flown, it has had only had three failures and one partial failure.
Falcon 9 is also reusable, a feature ULA is working on adding to the Vulcan but which it still lacks. Being more reliable and less expensive is a winning mix in most industries, I expect space travel will be no different.
And one of SpaceX's other big competitors, Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin, has only recently introduced a competitor to the Falcon with its reusable New Glenn rocket (named for John Glenn, the first American to orbit the earth in 1962.)
However, on its third-ever mission (launched April 19), the New Glenn lost its payload, though the rocket's first stage did successfully land on the drone ship meant to catch it.
So, while it is a competitor to the Falcon, the New Glenn has a long way to go before it comes anywhere near the Falcon 9's reputation for reliability and demonstrated ability to be reused.
But how do you and I play this? SpaceX is still a private company.
The good news is it won't be for much longer.
Late last month, news of SpaceX filing for its initial public offering (IPO) caused numerous space stocks to pop, and some have even continued that rally through April. The company might be valued at as much as $1.75 trillion, which would make it the largest IPO in market history.
And SpaceX has targeted July for its IPO; the preliminary prospectus is in the works, but the process seems to be moving quickly. So, I would be willing to bet the IPO is coming this summer and I fully intend to buy shares.
Given that one of its competitors has grounded its rockets and the other has a long way to go before it even begins to catch up to SpaceX, Elon Musk's rocket company is likely to remain the biggest name in private spaceflight for a very long time.

Failure to Launch: United Launch Alliance Is in Trouble. Who Wins From Its Loss?

Rising global defense budgets and the recovery of commercial aviation demand continue to support growth across the aerospace sector, benefiting players like RTX Corporation RTX and The Boeing Company BA. Both companies maintain substantial order backlogs, offering solid revenue visibility and long-term growth potential.
RTX stands out with its diversified portfolio spanning commercial aerospace, defense systems and advanced technologies. Its Pratt & Whitney engines and Collins Aerospace systems are seeing steady demand from the ongoing recovery in global air travel, while its defense segment benefits from strong demand for missile systems, radar and next-generation military technologies.

BA is supported by its strong quarterly results and notable contract wins, which have helped sustain investor confidence. In April 2026, the company reported its first-quarter 2026 results, showing revenue growth of 14% and an improvement in net losses compared with the same period last year.
Earlier this month, Boeing announced that Ethiopian Airlines had finalized the purchase of six 787 Dreamliner jets, fully exercising commitments from its landmark 2023 order. The airline plans to deploy the 787-9 aircraft to expand its intercontinental network from Addis Ababa while also boosting cargo capacity amid rising demand for long-haul travel.
Moreover, Boeing is expanding its space production capacity and broadening its satellite portfolio. This move reflects a strategic effort to enable government and commercial customers to deploy capabilities faster and with greater flexibility, while strengthening its position in the evolving space and satellite market.
Tailwinds for RTX
RTX is also supported by its strong quarterly results, strategic investments and some notable contract wins, which together contributed to investors’ optimism. The company released its first-quarter 2026 results in April 2026, wherein it reported solid revenue growth of 8.7%. The bottom line also improved 21.1% from the year-ago quarter.
Earlier in the month, RTX announced that its Pratt & Whitney unit is investing $100 million in its facility in Rzeszów to expand production capacity and enhance advanced manufacturing capabilities. The investment is aimed at meeting growing global demand for its commercial and military engines, including the GTF, F135 and F100 programs, while strengthening support for both civil aviation and defense customers.
Moreover, RTX, through its Raytheon business, has delivered its first Next Generation Jammer pods to the Royal Australian Air Force. Top Stock Reports for Caterpillar, Texas Instruments & Boeing

The 2026 Q1 earnings season is in full swing, with many notable companies reporting results in the coming days, with next week’s docket dominated by several Magnificent 7 companies.
So far, several companies have knocked it out of the park, such as Newmont NEM, Boeing BA, and Interactive Brokers IBKR, which each posted quarterly records in one way or another.
Interactive Brokers Sees Customer Momentum
IBKR has been a strong earnings performer over the past several years, with shares benefiting as a result. Commission revenue throughout its reported period increased 19% YoY to a record $613 million, with customer trading volume in stocks, futures, and options increasing by 25%, 20%, and 16%, respectively.
The company’s offerings continue to attract a wide range of new customers, with customer accounts growing by a rock-solid 31% YoY to roughly 4.8 million. The stock saw a weak reaction to the results, likely reflecting some profit-taking after a big run over the past year. Still, the EPS outlook for its current fiscal year remains notably bullish, with the current $2.46 per share estimate up more than 30% over the last year.

Newmont Generates Record Free Cash Flow
Newmont has benefited significantly from the rise in gold prices. The favorable operating environment has led to robust quarterly results and commentary over the last year, with the company exceeding the Zacks Consensus EPS estimate by an average of 33% across its last four releases.
The average gold price per oz reached $4,900 throughout the period, melting higher from the $2,944 mark in the same period last year. Free cash flow of $3.1 billion throughout the period reflected an all-time record.
As shown below, the company’s cash-generating abilities have been a notable boost over recent periods. The amplified cash-generating abilities bring about many positives, such as buybacks, with NEM increasing its current share repurchase program following the favorable results.

Boeing Posts Record Backlog
Boeing’s results were enough to push shares higher following the release, contrasting the negative reaction to the prior print. Shares are now modestly outperforming the S&P 500 YTD, with a record $695 billion backlog reported in the release reflecting a huge positive for the company.
Sales also grew by a solid double-digit 14% YoY to $22.2 billion, though the company did report negative free cash flow on the back of higher PPE expenditures at a few of its sites.
