Ontario's ad featured former US President Reagan speaking out in a 1987 address in favor of free trade and against tariffs, calling tariffs an outdated idea that stifles innovation, drives up prices, and hurts US workers. Mr. Trump claimed the ad was deceptive and said it was designed to influence the US Supreme Court ahead of oral arguments on November 5 on the legality of Mr. Trump's reciprocal tariffs. Lower courts have already deemed Mr. Trump's reciprocal tariffs illegal, ruling the tariffs are based on a specious claim of emergency authority. December 10-year T-notes (ZNZ5) on Monday rose slightly by +0.5 tick. The 10-year T-note yield fell -1.2 bp to 3.989%. T-note prices initially fell on Monday due to the US-Chinese trade agreement, which reduced safe-haven demand for Treasury securities and was positive for the US and Chinese economies. T-note prices were also pressured by the rally in US stocks.
However, T-note prices recovered later in the day as the 10-year inflation expectations rate fell by -1.1 bp to 2.288%. T-notes have support from the ongoing US government shutdown, which could lead to additional job losses, reduced consumer spending, and a weakened US economy, potentially allowing the Fed to continue cutting interest rates.

Ohio-based Huntington Bancshares (HBAN) agreed to buy Cadence Bank (CADE) for $7.4 billion in an all-stock deal to expand into the Southeast and South. Huntington fell -1.8%, while Cadence rallied +4.4%.
American Water Works (AWK) fell -2.5%, and Essential Utilities (WTRG) fell -1.4%, after news that the two companies finalized AWK's purchase of Essential Utilities for $12 billion in an all-stock deal.
Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) rallied more than +7% after raising its full-year net sales guidance.
Lululemon Athletica (LULU) rallied about +2% on news of an agreement with the National Football League and sports merchandiser Fanatics Inc to develop a line of fan apparel.

Avidity Biosciences (RNA) is up +42% after news that Swiss-based Novartis plans to buy the company in a deal worth $12 billion. Novartis ADR shares (NVS) down -2%.
Ohio-based Huntington Bancshares (HBAN) agreed to buy Cadence Bank (CADE) for $7.4 billion in an all-stock deal to expand into the Southeast and South. Huntington is down -2% while Cadence is up more than +4%.
Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) is up more than +4% after raising its full-year net sales guidance.
Lululemon Athletica (LULU) is up more than +2% on news of an agreement with the National Football League and sports merchandiser Fanatics Inc to develop a line of fan apparel.
Robinhood (HOOD) is up more than 5% after CICC gave the brokerage a new rating of outperform.
Newmont (NEM) is down -4% as the company seeks to gain control of Barrick’s gold mines in Nevada.
Boeing (BA) is trading slightly higher even though factory workers in St Louis narrowly rejected a new 5-year contract that would have ended a 3-month strike that has disrupted the company’s main military manufacturing operations.

Noteworthy Friday Option Activity: BA, COST, SNOW

Textron Inc. TXT reported third-quarter 2025 adjusted earnings of $1.55 per share, which beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.47 by 5.4%. The bottom line also rose 10.7% from $1.40 in the year-ago quarter.
The company reported GAAP earnings of $1.31 per share compared with $1.18 a year ago.
TXT’s Revenues
The company reported total revenues of $3.6 billion, which missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $3.71 billion by 2.8%. Moreover, revenues increased 4.9% from the year-ago quarter’s level of $3.43 billion.

Segmental Performance of Textron
Textron Aviation: Revenues from this segment increased 10% year over year to $1.5 billion. This was primarily driven by higher volume and mix, which included higher Citation jet and commercial turboprop volume, partially offset by lower defense volume.
The segment delivered 42 jets, up from 41 in the year-ago quarter. It also delivered 39 commercial turboprops, up from 25 in the third quarter of 2024.
Order backlog at the end of the quarter totaled $7.7 billion.
Bell: Revenues from this segment amounted to $1 billion, up 10% from the year-ago quarter’s registered number. This was driven by higher military revenues of $128 million, primarily due to higher volume from the U.S. Army's MV-75 program, partially offset by lower commercial revenues of $31 million, primarily due to volume.
Bell delivered 30 commercial helicopters, flat year over year.
Its order backlog at the end of the quarter totaled $8.2 billion.
Textron Systems: This segment’s revenues amounted to $307 million, up $6 million from the prior-year level.
Textron Systems’ backlog at the end of the quarter totaled $3.2 billion.
Industrial: Revenues from this segment declined $79 million to $761 million due to lower revenues related to the divestiture of the Powersports business.
Textron eAviation: Revenues from the segment totaled $5 million, lower than the prior-year period’s revenues of $6 million.
Finance: This segment’s revenues amounted to $26 million compared with $12 million in the year-ago quarter.
Textron’s Financials
As of Sept. 27, 2025, cash and cash equivalents totaled $1.45 billion compared with $1.39 billion as of Dec. 28, 2024.
Cash generated from operating activities in the first nine months of 2025 amounted to $629 million compared with $561 million in the year-ago period.
Capital expenditures amounted to $210 million (as of Sept. 27) compared with $211 million in the prior-year period.
The long-term debt totaled $3.04 billion as of Sept. 27, 2025, compared with $2.89 billion as of Dec. 28, 2024.
TXT’s Guidance
Textron expects adjusted earnings to be in the range of $6.00-$6.20 per share. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for earnings is pegged at $6.15 per share, which lies above the mid-point of its guided range.

RTX Corporation’s RTX third-quarter 2025 adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $1.70 beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.42 by 19.7%. The bottom line also improved 17.2% from the year-ago quarter’s level of $1.45.
RTX’s third-quarter sales totaled $22.48 billion, which surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $21.48 billion by 4.6%. The top line also surged a solid 11.9% from $20.09 billion recorded for the third quarter of 2024.
Upcoming Defense Releases
General Dynamics GD is slated to report third-quarter results on Oct. 24, before market open. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for earnings is pegged at $3.73 per share, which indicates a year-over-year increase of 11.3%.
GD’s long-term (three to five years) earnings growth rate is 10.67%. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for sales is pegged at $12.61 billion, which indicates a year-over-year increase of 8.1%.
The Boeing Company BA is slated to report third-quarter results on Oct. 29, before market open. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for earnings is pegged at a loss of $1.83 per share.
BA’s long-term earnings growth rate is 20.85%. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for third-quarter sales is pinned at $21.64 billion, indicating year-over-year growth of 21.3%.

Textron Q3 Earnings Beat Estimates, Revenues Improve Y/Y

An improving defense business and better news on 737 MAX deliveries support the stock.
The recent FAA approval of an increase in the production rate of the 737 MAX is excellent news.
There are long-term question marks around funding the next generation of aircraft and what type of engine it might use.
Boeing (NYSE: BA) is back. After an extended period of disappointing performance, CEO Kelly Ortberg has put the company back on track after taking the reins as CEO in August of last year.
The operational improvements are tangible and particularly important for the investment case. Boeing's huge backlog attests to its potential, which stood at $619 billion at the end of the second quarter.

Still, is it all enough to make the stock a buy?
Three reasons why Boeing stock is exciting
First, the stock appears attractive on a near- to medium-term basis -- at least it does if the company can sustain the improvements generated over the last 12 months. It might surprise many that the leading improvement highlighted is in the aerospace giant's defense segment, known as Defense, Space & Security (BDS). However, a quick look at the chart below shows the scale of the problems BDS has had in recent years, so the recent couple of quarters of profitability are highly welcome.
There's reason to believe that Boeing's profit improvements are sustainable, and that comes down to the fact that the overwhelming part of the losses comes from fixed-price development programs that only constitute 15% of the BDS portfolio. They include four high-profile and problematic programs, including the VC-25 (Air Force One) and the KC-46 refueling tanker.
Management has long argued that its BDS margins will improve once it works through key milestones on these programs, and that appears to be coming through now. It also helps that Ortberg moved swiftly to replace the former BDS CEO, Theodore Colbert (it's not clear whether he was fired or not), with Boeing veteran Steve Parker, who has now been appointed BDS CEO.
Under Ortberg and Parker, BDS is improving its cost estimations for these programs, and it will be fascinating to see if the trend continues in the third quarter.
Boeing's delivery and production rates
Boeing's delivery and production rates are often confused. They are closely related, but not the same. Focusing on its 737 narrowbody, at the end of September, the company had more than 4,800 unfilled orders. To put that figure into context, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) imposed a production rate cap of 38 a month for the 737 MAX following a high-profile incident on an Alaska Airlines flight in early 2024.
At a rate of 38 a month, or 456 a year, it would take more than a decade for Boeing to fill its 737 MAX orders. However, the company recently received some very positive news as the FAA approved an increase in the 737 MAX production rate to 42 a month.
The third positive reason to buy the stock is that Boeing is doing a good job on deliveries. As you can see below, its 737 MAX delivery rate has picked up notably in 2025, and the increase in the production rate will only increase the delivery rate over time.
Putting it all together, Boeing has excellent momentum and a real opportunity to carry on executing on a multiyear backlog. All of which speaks to the near- and medium-term potential for the stock.
One longer-term consideration
It may seem complex, but if you plan to buy and hold Boeing stock long-term, consider this: Is it financially feasible for Boeing to compete in the next generation of aircraft?
Former Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun estimated that a new narrowbody would cost $50 billion in investment over a decade. As of the end of the second quarter, Boeing had $30.3 billion in net debt, and it's fair to say the cycle of cash generation from the 737 MAX has not gone as planned.
Moreover, there appears to be a big decision brewing on the horizon with Airbus actively working with CFM International (a GE Aerospace joint venture with Safran) on its RISE program. GE's CEO Larry Culp is "all in" on the open fan technology being developed under RISE.
In comparison, Boeing is believed to favor a traditional ducted engine. RTX's Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce could offer such an engine, and CFM International could provide a ducted engine using RISE technology. However, if the open fan technology wins out under RISE and Boeing doesn't adopt it, it could find itself at a competitive disadvantage even as it tries to fund investment for the new plane -- something to think about.

3 Reasons to Buy Boeing Stock and 1 to Avoid It Before Oct. 29

As two of the market’s top-performing stocks in recent years, the discussion of buying the post-earnings dip in GE Aerospace GE or Netflix NFLX shares is a worthy topic after their Q3 reports on Tuesday.
Having impressive stock gains of around +300% in the last three years, respectively, GE shares were down 3% in today’s trading session with NFLX down 10%. More intriguing is that both of these respective industry leaders raised their guidance, adding steam to a buy-the-dip scenario.

LEAP Engine Sales Drive GE Aerospace’s Strong Q3 Results
Reflecting a broader recovery in global air travel and fleet modernization, GE Aerospace’s Q3 sales surged 26% to $11.3 billion from $8.94 billion in the comparative quarter. Propelling GE in particular was its LEAP engines, which are known for their reliability and efficiency and are growing in popularity due to their use in various modern aircraft such as Airbus’s EADSY A320neo and Boeing’s BA 737 MAX. GE Aerospace’s earnings soared 44% to $1.66 per share, versus EPS of $1.15 in Q3 2024. Furthermore, this impressively topped the Zacks EPS Consensus of $1.46 by 14%.
Brazilian Tax Dispute Dampens Netflix’s Q3 Results
Excluding a one-time charge related to a tax dispute in Brazil, Netflix’s core business performance was strong during Q3, highlighted by increased ad sales and new content partnerships. However, Netflix’s operations in Brazil were challenged by local authorities in regard to how the streaming king classifies and reports certain revenues and expenses. This resulted in a $400 million non-recurring tax expense that dented Netflix’s net income, as Q3 EPS of $5.87 was up 9% YoY but noticeably missed expectations of $6.89 by 15%. Netflix’s Q3 sales of $11.51 billion spiked 17% from $9.82 billion a year ago but slightly missed estimates of $11.52 billion.
GE Aerospace & Netflix’s Raised Guidance
Raising its full-year 2025 guidance, GE Aerospace now expects adjusted EPS between $6.00-$6.20, up from a previous forecast of $5.90. GE Aerospace now projects full-year revenue growth in the mid-teens, up from its previous estimate of low double-digit growth.
Pivoting to Netflix, the company now expects full-year revenue growth at approximately 16% from a previous forecast of 14%. Notably, Netflix also raised its operating margin forecast from 21% to 22%.
Monitoring GE Aerospace & Netflix’s Valuation
Correlating with their high growth prospects, GE Aerospace and Netflix stock are trading at notable premiums to the broader market at 52X and 47X forward earnings, respectively. Keeping their blazing stock performances over the last three years in mind, GE and NFLX trade below their forward P/E highs during this period but are above their medians as shown below.

Other traditional metrics, like price to sales, also point to GE and NFLX trading at stretched valuations, although the bright spot to their value has been through cash flow. Netflix especially stands out with a very high cash flow per share ratio of 59X, with GE Aerospace’s 8X being pleasantly above the S&P 500’s average of 6X as well.

Conclusion & Final Thoughts
It’s hard to overlook the idea of buying the post-earnings dip in GE Aerospace and Netflix stock but for now, both land a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). In terms of their valuations, more appealing opportunities could certainly come on a further drop, and the real indicator of more upside will be the trend of earnings estimate revisions (EPS) following their Q3 reports.
That said, given that these high-growth companies raised their guidance, the revision trend should be positive, especially for GE, considering its impressive earnings beat.

More Than Just a Conflict: Broader Tailwinds for Defense
