$1 forever
It's important to point out at the outset that "better buy" in this context does not mean "better investment." After all, both PayPal USD and Ripple USD are stablecoins that are pegged 1:1 to the U.S. dollar. Theoretically, you should also be able to exchange either one for $1 at any time.
That also means that, years from now, both will still be trading for $1. There won't be a "better investment" because neither will change in price. Unless one of them loses its dollar peg, there won't be any meaningful way to compare them head-to-head.
So we'll need another way to determine which one is the "better buy," and the best possible litmus test is utility. In other words, how can we utilize or deploy these stablecoins in our everyday lives?
PayPal's stablecoin
PayPal USD appears to have the clear advantage in terms of utility. As you might have inferred from the name, this is PayPal's official stablecoin. The stablecoin launched in August 2023, but it has only been recently that it has been in the spotlight, thanks to the rapid growth within the stablecoin industry.
I've bought some PayPal USD for my own account, and I've been impressed with how easily it can be integrated into the full PayPal experience. For example, when I open the PayPal app on my phone, I can see my PayPal balance, several other PayPal accounts, and my PayPal crypto account. It's easy to move money around all of these accounts, and I'm earning a not-insignificant 4% on my PYUSD holdings.
Plans are underway to make PYUSD a bigger part of the PayPal e-commerce experience, as well as part of the PayPal merchant experience. Put another way, it will be easier than ever before to use stablecoins at checkout, or to make stablecoins part of the cash management process at a small business.
All of this, in my opinion, is a huge win for PayPal and may help to explain why PYUSD now has a $2.7 billion market cap.
Ripple's stablecoin
In contrast, the primary use case for RLUSD is making cross-border payments. For example, if you have friends or family living abroad, you can send RLUSD to them. They could then convert that RLUSD into their home currency. Since all of this runs on blockchain rails, it's potentially cheaper, faster, and more efficient than doing the same process via traditional methods, such as Western Union.
However, RLUSD is primarily intended for banks making cross-border payments, not individuals sending money abroad every month. And there's no natural home for RLUSD, as there is for PYUSD. You will need a cryptocurrency wallet to buy and hold RLUSD, and that may present a steep learning curve, especially if you have older family members living outside the United States.
Since Ripple, creator of the RLUSD stablecoin, is also the creator of XRP, the high-risk, high-reward crypto token, the early thinking was that there might be some advantages to holding RLUSD if you were also using XRP for decentralized finance (DeFi).
However, as it stands now, DeFi is still relatively underdeveloped on the XRP blockchain, and I don't see any immediate reason to acquire some RLUSD. From my perspective, it's still better to deploy stablecoins on other blockchains.
And the winner is...
For that reason, the clear winner here is PayPal USD. It is the only stablecoin that I hold outside USDC, and for good reason. It can be easily integrated into any PayPal workflow and comes with the backing of one of the world's top fintech players.

Better Stablecoin Buy: PayPal vs. Ripple (XRP)

XRP boasts a market capitalization of $133 billion. This is nearly five times Tron's market value of about $27 billion, handily making it the more valuable cryptocurrency.

Below, I'll explore the primary applications that Tron and XRP focus on in the world of decentralized finance (DeFi). From there, I'll make the case for why I believe XRP is well-positioned to remain a more valuable digital asset than its competitors.
What is Tron, and what is it used for?
Similar to Ethereum, Tron's ecosystem supports smart contracts and users' ability to send cryptocurrency tokens to one another. And like XRP, Tron can process thousands of transactions per second at a fraction of a cent.
The combination of speed and cost-efficiency over legacy financial services infrastructure makes Tron a suitable option for peer-to-peer payments in the digital era.
Where I begin to see some risk with Tron is in the underlying details of its user activity. According to data from Elliptic, Tron's network has been heavily utilized by countries such as Russia and North Korea. Moreover, TRM Labs reported that of the $45 billion in suspicious or illicit crypto volume in 2024, nearly 60% occurred on Tron.
Against this backdrop, it appears that Tron has become a playground for fraud and scams -- serving as a mechanism to fuel activity, including money laundering schemes, and acting as a decentralized vessel for gambling payments and similar applications.
XRP has more brand recognition than Tron
Indeed, XRP does not exactly have a squeaky-clean reputation of its own. Ripple -- the company that issues XRP -- was at the center of a lawsuit with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for several years.
However, Ripple's recent legal victories over the SEC suggest the company and its underlying technology, including the XRP ledger, achieved some level of acceptance and cooperation in the regulatory environment.
With that in mind, I think Ripple's target customer demographic -- primarily large financial institutions -- may be more willing to adopt, or at the very least explore and test, the company's services.
Some of Ripple's more notable customers include American Express, Bank of America, Western Union, and the Saudi Central Bank.
Why XRP will remain more valuable than Tron
In my opinion, the primary difference between the two blockchains explored here is that Tron is a platform primarily used for stablecoin transfers among retail users. In other words, Tron's network continues to process high transaction volumes, but its user base lacks the same level of sophistication or mission-critical needs as those of a traditional bank or large corporation.
By contrast, XRP is purpose-built to facilitate cross-border transactions for complex global financial institutions at global scale.
Moreover, I think XRP's compliance with the SEC could go a long way toward improving its image and ultimately inspire accelerated adoption and integration among banks and large-scale payment processors down the road.
While XRP and Tron carry similar value propositions, I believe that Tron's affiliation in geographic jurisdictions where regulatory oversight and security protocols may be less developed, as well as its exposure to less transparent use cases, will put pressure on its ability to experience notable valuation appreciation in the future.
For this reason, I'm more bullish about XRP's future trajectory compared to its seemingly compromised peer. With these dynamics in mind, I believe XRP will remain a more valuable cryptocurrency than Tron for years to come.

Prediction: XRP Will Be Worth More Than TRON in 2030

Key Points
Fintech stocks have plunged on concerns about rising credit risk.

The housing market remains weak. AI infrastructure platforms like Coreweave and Nebius are now down sharply from earlier peaks, showing that enthusiasm for all things AI may have gotten overheated.
Additionally, fintech stocks have withered recently, amid concerns about higher loan losses at some regional banks, rising auto loan delinquencies, weakness in the labor market, and plunging consumer confidence.
As a result, fintech stocks have fallen nearly across the board, but that's set up a number of attractive buying opportunities. Keep reading to one stock that looks like a drop-dead bargain right now.
Remittances are big business
Remitly Global (NASDAQ: RELY) has established itself as a leader in global remittances. As a digital-first platform, the company has grown rapidly as it's taken market share from traditional competitors like Western Union and MoneyGram.
Immigrants and businesses depend on the company for cross-border payments, and the company's push into the business market has expanded its total addressable market to a whopping $22 trillion.
Remitly delivered another round of strong growth in its third quarter, with active customers up 21% to 8.9 million, send volume up 35% to $19.5 million, and revenue increasing 25% to $419.5 million, which topped estimates at $413.8 million. Its take rate is declining, but that is by design as part of a strategy to serve more business and high-amount senders, which pay a lower rate.
The company is launching new products to expand its addressable market and find new ways to grow, including Remitly One, a $9.99 monthly membership program the company launched in September, allowing customers to "send now, pay later" up to $250 with no interest through Flex; earn 4% interest with Remitly Wallet, and spend directly with a Remitly Card with no foreign transaction fees, among other benefits.
The program looks like a smart way to lock in new customers, expand Remitly's use cases, and drive engagement with the platform.
On the bottom line, adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) rose 29% to $61.2 million, and the company reported a generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) earnings per share of $0.04, up from $0.01 in the quarter a year ago.
Too cheap to ignore
Despite the strong results, the stock fell on the news, tumbling 25% on Nov. 6 after the report came out. The culprit appeared to be its guidance, which called for revenue growth to slow to 21% in the fourth quarter and projected high-teen revenue guidance for 2026.
After the sell-off, Remitly is now trading at its lowest point in nearly a year and a half, even as the business is delivering strong growth in all key metrics, is profitable, and is rolling out new products, including Remitly One.
Its price-to-sales ratio has now fallen to 1.7, which looks dirt cheap for a company with this kind of growth rate. The stock also trades at just 11 times its EBITDA forecast for the year of $234 million to $236 million.
It's also worth noting that Remitly makes most of its income from transaction fees, so its credit risk is much lower than for most fintech stocks. If the company can continue to grow on the top and bottom lines, the stock looks to have a bright future over the long term.

Western Union (NYSE: WU) just picked Solana (CRYPTO: SOL) to host its planned stablecoin and digital money transfer network that's set to reshape its operations and modernize them significantly. The chain will now potentially see tens of billions in new volume annually.
If you hold XRP (CRYPTO: XRP), that might feel like watching a plane take off after getting bumped from the flight. The network is sidelined from capturing any of the value from one of the biggest money transfer systems switching over to crypto-based settlement from its legacy tech. This barely counts as a lost opportunity
Western Union plans to launch a new dollar-backed stablecoin, the U.S. Dollar Payment Token (USDPT), on Solana's chain in the first half of 2026. The company is also rolling out a Digital Asset Network to tie digital wallets and its fiat currency ramps together.
So why did Western Union choose to run this plan on Solana?
Western Union's gargantuan international consumer-to-consumer remittance flows are ideally processed very quickly, and very inexpensively. Solana's architecture is purpose-built for that profile. As a result, the company can reduce its working capital requirements and foreign exchange (FX) costs substantially, cut its overhead, deliver dramatically faster service to its customers, and potentially pass on the lower costs to them too. The upshot for it could be transformational if it commits to fully onboarding all of its transfer volumes to the chain over the course of the next few years. It will benefit Solana holders substantially as well along the way.
But none of this says anything about whether XRP and its ledger, the XRPL, are useful for financial institutions like banks and capital markets participants. It simply says Western Union optimized for its core demographic and product.
It's true that XRP was originally designed to process exactly these kinds of cross-border capital flows. It's also true that the chain's fees are quite low, that its transaction times are quick, and that its throughput is formidable. Nonetheless, there's a key difference between Solana and XRP, which was likely decisive here.
Whereas XRP is largely marketed toward institutional investors and financial institutions as a financial tool for trade settlement, money transfers, and asset management, Western Union is a business that's predominantly aimed at consumers who need to perform remittances internationally. This detail indicates that it isn't really in XRP's target market, even though it sure looks like it is.
The future still looks great for this asset
Although Western Union's selection emphasizes Solana's decent positioning for capturing consumer transfers, XRP's near-term catalysts run through institutions, and it doesn't need Western Union on its chain to continue to make headway on that front.
Financial institutions are incentivized to use XRP to be their home in the crypto sector because the XRPL includes many robust tools for attending to regulatory compliance. That's something that big banks and other regulated financial entities need to be on top of at every level of their workflows. On the XRPL, they can easily implement compliance tooling like trust lines, account authorization, and wallet freezes, allowing issuers to enforce transfer rules without bolting on a bunch of custom smart contracts and introducing complexity. Solana doesn't have the same feature set, so it isn't as much of a threat within XRP's actual target market.
More importantly, Ripple, the company that issues XRP, recently purchased the prime broker Hidden Road. This positions Ripple to offer cross-margining of assets and institutional trade execution under one roof. That feature set targets banks, asset managers, and corporate players, not remittance services or their customers. At the same time, consider that a business like Western Union might not have a use for those features.
Western Union on Solana is a win for that network in consumer remittances. But XRP's investment thesis is grounded in its chances of getting widespread institutional adoption, which means that it essentially lives in a different zip code. There's no reason to sell your XRP just because one of its peers with a different focus was able to bag a big new user, and there's plenty more growth on the way in the future.

Stablecoins meet remittances
Western Union's plan is to issue a stablecoin on Solana, integrate it across the company's vast money transfer network, and then use the chain to move value quickly and cheaply around the world at industrial scale. That means it will be a business-reshaping transition for Western Union, and a major new user for Solana. Since Solana's strengths are in its rock-bottom fees, snappy transaction times, and high throughput, it's an ideal choice to accomplish the company's goals.
Solana's base fee is roughly 0.000005 SOL, the blockchain's native coin. That usually works out to be a fraction of a cent per transaction, with the ability to pay optional priority fees for when speed is essential and the network is busier than usual. With other major payment players already testing stablecoin settlement on Solana, there is thus a growing operational playbook for processing such flows on the chain. Regarding settlement times, most transfers are closed and finalized in just a few seconds, no matter how far the funds need to travel or to what wallet address.
The advantage Western Union gains by using Solana is thus quite significant.
Standard global remittance fees still average about 6.5% of the transfer amount. What's more, international transfers often take a few days to settle, which is a long time for cash to be in limbo. By closing transactions faster and by incurring lower fees than previously, Western Union will be able to recoup a significant amount of working capital. It will be similarly advantageous for its customers, as they may be able to realize much lower prices and much faster transfers.
What it means for investors
Scale is Western Union's ace card. The company has hundreds of thousands of agent locations and a global footprint spanning more than 150 countries. If even a modest slice of its flows migrate to its stablecoin by the end of 2026, Solana could see a durable and large increase in on-chain stablecoin transfers and account activity.
For Solana holders, onboarding Western Union to the network is going to be a lot more than a one-day pop for the coin's price. The company reported that for its 2024 fiscal year, it processed $102.9 billion in principal for its customers performing cross-border transfers. It's possible that during the next few years, 100% of that volume will be transitioned to being processed over Solana.
The chain thus now has an opportunity to begin entrenching itself as a default for high-frequency, low-value transfers. In practice, that can start to compound its existing network effects, encourage more merchant and wallet integrations, and probably lift long-term demand for the coin, bolstering prices along the way.
For Western Union shareholders, the upside is twofold. First, the company could reduce its own costs while still charging a competitive retail fee, boosting unit economics. Second, a native stablecoin gives the business more control over treasury, liquidity, and cross-border interoperability with digital wallets, which supports new products. Management has already flagged its digital segment as a growth lever.
The takeaway is that this partnership is a real vote of confidence in Solana's capacity for everyday payments. It's also a credible modernization path for Western Union, so it's bullish for both assets, but especially for Solana. If you already own Solana, this strengthens the investment thesis for a long-term hold. It might even be worth buying a bit more, to squeeze out some more upside from the chain picking up a major new client.

Can Fidelity National Beat Q3 Earnings on Banking Solutions Strength?

Investors in Western Union Co (Symbol: WU) saw new options become available today, for the September 2026 expiration. One of the key inputs that goes into the price an option buyer is willing to pay, is the time value, so with 319 days until expiration the newly available contracts represent a possible opportunity for sellers of puts or calls to achieve a higher premium than would be available for the contracts with a closer expiration. At Stock Options Channel, our YieldBoost formula has looked up and down the WU options chain for the new September 2026 contracts and identified the following call contract of particular interest.
The call contract at the $10.00 strike price has a current bid of 15 cents. If an investor was to purchase shares of WU stock at the current price level of $9.11/share, and then sell-to-open that call contract as a "covered call," they are committing to sell the stock at $10.00. Considering the call seller will also collect the premium, that would drive a total return (excluding dividends, if any) of 11.42% if the stock gets called away at the September 2026 expiration (before broker commissions). Key Points
XRP is going to continue to attract financial institutions and their capital.

Toward the end of 2028, the XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) Ledger (XRPL) might be a very different chain than it is today, and there are big implications for those who hold the coin or who are considering buying it.

The growth story is continuing to pick up speed
During the next three years, XRP is going to get bigger. Its network will add more features that financial institutions actually use, building up more on-chain capital in the form of stablecoins and other assets, and staking out a clearer role in moving and holding in custody tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). The foundation of this process is something boring that the chain already excels at: regulatory compliance.
The XRPL currently offers features to asset issuers so that they can authorize who holds their tokens, freeze misused money, and design stablecoins with explicit enforcement flags rather than stitching controls together with disparate smart contracts. These design choices make transaction settlement rules predictable and lower-risk for regulated players, specifically big banks, which lowers friction for onboarding them. And with the regulatory piece of the puzzle addressed, XRP is thus better positioned than other options.
Furthermore, stablecoins on the chain are going to continue to scale up, including Ripple's own tokenized cash equivalent, RLUSD (CRYPTO: RLUSD). More stablecoins means a larger liquid capital base for institutional investors to access and transact in the sizes they prefer. For now, RLUSD's market cap is about $908 million, but that will change as Ripple issues more of it in response to demand.
Importantly, the increasing size of the stablecoin base on the blockchain will also enable tokenized real-world asset custody and flows at larger scales, too. RWA flows begin and end in fiat currency or fiat-like instruments. Ripple has been explicit about making RWAs native to the network, embedding compliance and settlement at the asset level rather than relying on interim special purpose vehicles. That aligns with what XRPL already offers and also with what regulated asset managers want.
And, while there is only $362 million in tokenized RWAs on the XRPL right now, the fact that asset managers can handle their compliance needs natively will heavily incentivize them to park their assets on the chain. Expect a lot of growth stemming from RWA management.
Rivals are looming closer
Despite XRP's bright future owing to the factors described above, its next three years will also force it to confront some unprecedented challenges, most of which relate to its competitors.
New blockchains targeting financial institutions are popping up left and right. Stripe's freshly announced Tempo chain is purpose-built for stablecoins and global payments, with the ability to pay fees in existing stablecoins. That is a direct strike at the very use cases XRPL has long prioritized. The fact that Tempo is being built by a leading fintech underscores how seriously this competition should be taken.
Alphabet is also entering the fray with its Google Cloud Universal Ledger (GCUL), a financial-grade, institution-facing chain aimed at capital markets and tokenized finance pilots. If GCUL becomes a default option for enterprises already embedded in Google Cloud, it will pressure every existing chain competing for those customers.
And that's before even acknowledging today's incumbents, which are quite powerful. Ethereum remains the deepest venue for tokenized assets and stablecoins, while Solana's speed and low costs continue to attract payments and fintech experiments, as well as collaborations with major financial businesses like Western Union. The takeaway is that the future will probably feature a smorgasbord of different chains specializing by client need, geography, and local regulation; multiple winners are very likely, and XRP is likely to be one of them even if its competitive environment is quickly becoming very crowded.
Therefore investors should set their expectations accordingly. It is likely that XRP's features, first-mover advantage, and tight focus will win additional institutional users, more on-ledger capital, and a growing slice of tokenized assets. It is unlikely that any single chain, including XRPL, absorbs a majority of enterprise tokenization or compliant stablecoin flows once Stripe, Alphabet, and crypto incumbents are all in the ring.
In other words, strong growth for XRP is probable, but a 10-fold gain from here would require capturing an extraordinary market share against very capable rivals who are almost certain to make that unlikely. Three years from now, the most realistic picture is an XRPL with more features, more asset issuers, and more institutional users, competing in a crowded, fast-growing RWA and payments market. That's a pretty good setup for investors, even if the coin isn't going to go to the moon.

Mastercard’s Q3 Operational Performance
Gross dollar volume or GDV (representing the aggregated dollar amount of purchases made and cash disbursements obtained from Mastercard-branded cards) amounted to $2.7 trillion, which grew 9% on a local-currency basis. The metric marginally missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate.
Cross-border volumes (a key measure that tracks spending on cards beyond the issuing country) improved 15% on a local currency basis in the quarter under review. Switched transactions, which indicate the number of times a company’s products have been used to facilitate transactions, rose 10% year over year to 45.4 billion. The metric beat the consensus mark of 45 billion.
Value-added services and solutions’ net revenues of $3.4 billion climbed 25% year over year and came higher than our model estimate of $3.3 billion. The year-over-year improvement stemmed from buyouts and the strong performance of security and digital authentication solutions, as well as customer acquisition and engagement services.
Payment network rebates and incentives escalated 16% year over year as a result of new and renewed deals. Mastercard’s clients issued 3.6 billion Mastercard and Maestro-branded cards as of Sept. 30, 2025.
Adjusted operating expenses of $3.5 billion increased 15% year over year due to acquisitions and general and administrative expenses.
Adjusted operating income advanced 18% year over year to $5.1 billion, higher than our model estimate of $5 billion. The adjusted operating margin of 59.8% improved 50 basis points year over year.
Mastercard’s Financial Position (As of Sept. 30, 2025)
Mastercard exited the third quarter with cash and cash equivalents of $10.3 billion, which rose 22.2% from the 2024-end level. Total assets of $53.3 billion increased 10.8% from the figure at 2024-end.
Long-term debt amounted to $19 billion, up 8.6% from the figure as of Dec. 31, 2024.
Total equity of $7.9 billion advanced 21.6% from the 2024-end level.
Mastercard generated net cash from operations of $12.6 billion in the first nine months of 2025, which climbed 27.1% from the prior-year comparable period.
Mastercard’s Capital Deployment Update
Mastercard bought back 5.8 million shares for $3.3 billion in the third quarter. Over the period between Oct. 1 and Oct. 27, it bought back another 2.1 million shares for $1.2 billion, thereby leaving a buyback capacity of $5.8 billion.
MA paid out dividends worth $687 million during the quarter under review.
Mastercard’s 4Q25 Guidance
Management projects adjusted net revenues to register high teens growth on a year-over-year basis in the fourth quarter of 2025, while adjusted operating expenses are also anticipated to record high teens growth.

Other Business Services Sector Releases
Of the other Business Services sector industry players that have reported September-quarter results so far, the bottom-line results of Visa Inc. V, The Western Union Company WU and FTI Consulting, Inc. FCN beat the respective Zacks Consensus Estimate.
Visa reported fourth-quarter fiscal 2025 earnings per share (EPS) of $2.98, which beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.97. The bottom line increased 10% year over year. Net revenues of $10.7 billion improved 12% year over year. The top line beat the consensus mark by 1%. Visa's payments volume increased 9% year over year on a constant-dollar basis in the fiscal fourth quarter. Processed transactions (implying transactions processed by Visa) grew 10% year over year to 67.7 billion.
On a constant-dollar basis, the cross-border volume of Visa rose 12% year over year. Service revenues (depending on the payment volume in the previous quarter) increased 10% year over year to $4.6 billion in the September quarter. Data processing revenues of $5.4 billion grew 17% year over year. International transaction revenues rose 10% year over year to $3.8 billion in the fiscal fourth quarter. Other revenues were $1.2 billion, which climbed 21% year over year
Western Union’s third-quarter 2025 adjusted earnings per share of 47 cents surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 9.3%. The bottom line grew 2.2% year over year. Total revenues remained flat on a reported basis at $1 billion. The top line beat the consensus mark by 1.2%. The adjusted operating margin of 20% improved 100 basis points (bps) year over year. Operating income advanced 22% year over year to $201.9 million.
The Consumer Money Transfer segment recorded revenues of $878 million in the third quarter, which slipped 6% year over year. Operating income declined 9% year over year to $172.2 million. Transactions within the CMT segment on an adjusted basis, excluding Iraq, dipped 2% year over year. The Consumer Services segment’s revenues climbed 49% year over year on a reported and an adjusted basis to $154.6 million in the quarter under review. Operating income totaled $34 million, which increased nearly fourfold year over year.
FTI Consulting reported third-quarter 2025 adjusted EPS came in at $2.60, which beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 34.7% and increased 40.5% year over year. Total revenues of $956.2 million beat the consensus estimate by 1.4% but fell 3.3% year over year. Segment-wise, Technology revenues decreased 14.8% year over year to $94.08 million. Economic Consulting revenues dropped 22% year over year to $173.09 million.
Corporate Finance & Restructuring revenues gained 18.6% year over year to $379.2 million. Strategic Communications revenues increased 20.8% year over year to $405 million. Forensic and Litigation Consulting revenues rose 15.4% year over year to $195 million. Adjusted EBITDA came in at $130.6 million, up 26.8% on a year-over-year basis. The adjusted EBITDA margin gained 260 basis points year over year to 13.7%.
