Two of the highest-quality dividend stocks the market has to offer
Despite their different industries, Procter & Gamble and Coca-Cola are two very similar investment opportunities.
P&G has brands spanning multiple household and personal care categories for everyday use, including Tide laundry detergent, Gillette razors, Crest toothpaste, Pampers diapers, and more. Beyond its flagship soda, Coca-Cola owns Minute Maid, Topo Chico, Fairlife, Costa Coffee, BodyArmor, Sprite, Fanta, and more.
Both companies have seen sales and earnings growth dip in recent years as consumers pull back on spending. But because of their elite supply chains, marketing, and high margins, they have still been able to generate solid earnings and free cash flow to support their growing payouts.
Procter & Gamble has paid and raised its dividend for 69 consecutive years, while Coke has a 63-year streak -- making them Dividend Kings, which are companies that have at least 50 straight years of dividend raises.
Because of their consistent dividend increases, P&G and Coke have historically fetched premium valuations relative to the S&P 500. But both stocks are a great value right now, with P&G sporting a mere 21.8 forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio compared to a 10-year median of 25.7. Meanwhile, Coke has a 23.9 forward P/E compared to a 10-year median of 27.7.
P&G yields 2.8% and Coke yields 3%, making both stocks excellent choices for value investors looking to boost their passive income.
McDonald's is as recession-resistant as it gets in the restaurant industry
Many restaurant companies are struggling as consumers are looking to stretch their dollars. McDonald's has a history of providing tasty food, drinks, and snacks at affordable prices. But even its costs have gone up due to inflationary pressures.
Still, McDonald's has done a great job getting customers in the door with its mobile ordering, in-app rewards and deals, new menu items, and the return of its iconic Monopoly game, which lets customers experience the thrill of peeling pieces off select items and earning digital rewards.
Roughly 95% of McDonald's stores are owned by franchises -- which leads to consistent cash flow and high margins for McDonald's corporate. The business model makes McDonald's highly resistant to recessions.
With 49 consecutive years of increasing its payout and a 2.3% yield, McDonald's is a "safe" bet for generating dividend income.
Chevron's dividend is reliable despite swings in oil and gas prices
Oil prices are hovering around five-year lows due to lower demand and higher supply. In its latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, the U.S. Energy Information Administration forecast a 2 million barrel per day increase in 2025 liquid fuels, largely due to higher production from non-OPEC+ countries like the U.S.
Low oil prices have led to sell-offs across the energy sector, especially for exploration and production companies. So, investors may be wondering why Chevron is up by more than 6% year to date.
Chevron is one of the highest-quality energy stocks due to its multiple production regions, massive downstream segment, and growing low-carbon business. The integrated major has a low cost of production, which allows it to generate positive cash flow even when prices are lower.
With 38 years of dividend raises and a 4.5% yield, Chevron stands out as a top high-yield dividend stock to buy now.
Visa has a near-perfect business model for returning cash to shareholders
Visa is by far the lowest-yielding stock on this list, with just a 0.7% yield. For context, the S&P 500 yields 1.2%. With a yield that low, you may be wondering if Visa even deserves to be considered a quality dividend stock. Visa is a great example of why it's more important to look at a company's entire capital return program rather than just its dividend.
For the nine months ended June 30, 2025, Visa paid $3.49 billion in dividends but $13.39 billion in stock buybacks. In other words, if it had used all of that money on dividends and didn't buy back stock, Visa would have a dividend yield around 2.7%.
The buybacks have been a better use of capital than dividends for shareholders, as Visa stock has crushed the S&P 500 over the long term. And by consistently buying back stock, Visa reduced its share count by 19.4% over the past decade, making the stock a better value because a lower share count boosts earnings per share.
As a payment processor, Visa collects transaction fees based on the volume and frequency of customer and business usage on its debit and credit cards. The banks and financial institutions that issue those cards bear the credit risk, not Visa.
Add it all up, and Visa's high margins and high cash flow business model make it an excellent stock for risk-averse investors to buy in 2026.

In the quarter under consideration, Paypal is expected to have benefited from an improving Total Payment Volume (“TPV”). The metric is likely to have gained from a strong relationship between the company and its merchants and consumers. PYPL is expected to have experienced healthy Branded checkout TPV growth, backed by strength across large enterprise platforms, marketplaces within PayPal checkout and Pay with Venmo.
During the third quarter, PayPal made some strategic moves to generate business. The company signed a two-year agreement with Blue Owl Capital, allowing Blue Owl managed funds to buy about $7 billion worth of PayPal’s “Pay in 4” loans originated in the United States. It also teamed up with Google to deliver frictionless digital commerce experiences. PayPal launched PayPal links for easy money transfers through a personalized, one-time link. It gave early access to Perplexity’s Comet browser for U.S. and some global users. It also introduced PayPal World for seamless global wallet interoperability.
Despite strong fundamentals and increasingly diversified offerings, PayPal is likely to have faced competitive pressure from other digital wallets. Broader macroeconomic pressures and uncertainty surrounding the tariff policy could have also affected its third-quarter results.
Q3 Projections for PYPL
The Zacks Consensus Estimate for PayPal’s Transaction revenues is pegged at $7.44 billion, which suggests a 5.2% increase from the year-ago quarter.
PYPL is also poised to benefit from its value-added services. Its consensus mark for revenues from other value-added services is pegged at $825.1 million for the third quarter, up from $780 million in the year-ago period.
PayPal anticipates its third-quarter transaction margin dollars to range between $3.76 billion and $3.82 billion, indicating a 4% year-over-year increase at the midpoint. When excluding interest on customer balances, the company forecasts midpoint growth of around 6% in transaction margin dollars.
The consensus mark for TPV is pegged at $448.938 billion, indicating 6.2% year-over-year growth. Paypal’s active accounts are likely to reach 439.1 million, which denotes an increase from the year-ago value of 432 million.
However, estimates for the number of payment transactions stand at 6.558 billion, which is below the company’s reported figure of 6.631 billion in the same quarter last year. The consensus mark for transaction margin is pegged at 45.9%, down from the year-ago figure of 46.6%.
PayPal remains focused on controlling its cost structure while allocating resources toward critical growth initiatives. PayPal expects its non-transaction operating expenditure to grow by a high-single-digit percentage in the third quarter. This increase is mainly due to ongoing investments in technology and new product launches, along with some marketing expenses being shifted to this period.
PYPL’s Price Performance & Valuation
Paypal shares have declined 18.2% year to date. The Zacks Financial Transaction Services decreased 4.8%, while the S&P 500 rose 16.7% for the same period. Rivals like Visa Inc. V and Mastercard Incorporated MA continue to expand their offerings, challenging PayPal’s dominance in digital payments.
Compared to its peers, PayPal’s performance has been notably weaker. While PYPL has struggled, Visa shares have climbed 10%, and Mastercard has risen 9% over the same timeframe.

From a valuation standpoint, PayPal shares are trading cheap, as suggested by the Value Score of A. In terms of forward 12-month P/E, PYPL stock is trading at 12.25X compared with the Zacks Financial Transaction Services industry’s 21.58X.
Shares of Visa and Mastercard are currently trading at P/E of 26.08X and 30.97X, respectively.

By merging PayPal’s services into a single platform, it’s strengthening the connections between consumers and merchants. PayPal is focusing on improving its user experience, deepening relationships with merchants, and expanding across global markets. These key actions could unlock long-term growth for the company.
Apart from riding on the growing demand for peer-to-peer payments and digital wallets and offering a good scope for growth, PayPal is trading cheap, and the current price offers a good entry point for investors.

Here's why American Express has what it takes to beat the S&P 500 and the Dow for years to come.
American Express's advantages are on full display
American Express issues its own credit cards, offers charge cards and personal loans, and collects processing fees. This is a drastically different business model from Visa (NYSE: V) and Mastercard (NYSE: MA), which are pure-play payment processors. Visa and Mastercard are less risky because they work with banks and financial institutions to issue cards. However, American Express has more growth potential, which was showcased in its latest quarter.
American Express's revenue net of interest expense rose by 11%, diluted earnings per share by 19%, and it reduced its share count by 2% compared to the third quarter of 2024. American Express raised its full-year 2025 forecast, with revenue growth of 9% to 10% and earnings per share of $15.20 to $15.50 compared to adjusted EPS of $13.35 in 2024. That's earnings growth of about 15% -- which would be a fantastic year for American Express.
American Express cardholder spending is rising
Perhaps the most important metric from the third-quarter 2025 report was an 8% foreign exchange-adjusted increase in card member spending. On the earnings call, American Express Chief Executive Officer Stephen Squeri attributed the uptick in cardmember spending to strong retail engagement and a rebound in travel. He also said that the company's credit performance continued to be excellent -- showcasing its ability to manage risk with low net write-off rates.
During the quarter, American Express launched its refreshed Platinum cards for U.S. consumers and businesses. The cards include higher fees but more perks, which can be a win-win for American Express and its card members. Squeri said the following on the earnings call:
I'm very pleased to say that the initial customer demand and engagement are exceeding our expectations. In fact, while it's still early, this is the strongest start we've seen for a U.S. Platinum card refresh. Before I get into more details on Platinum, I want to provide some context. We are fortunate to have a global premium customer base that is unmatched in the industry, and our goal is to provide our customers with the best experience in the industry.
The solid increase in card member spending, paired with the successful launch of the new Platinum card, showcases American Express's advantages in today's bifurcated economy. Broadly speaking, consumer spending on discretionary goods and services, and even staples, is under pressure from relatively high interest rates and rising living costs.
By catering to an affluent consumer base and charging high card fees, American Express's customer base isn't as stressed by the rising cost of living. In fact, the upticks in spending may be partly due to higher asset prices, from stocks to real estate and gold. So, even though high interest rates and home prices have made housing unaffordable for average Americans, American Express's strong results show that affluent consumer spending is actually on the rise.
Cardmember rewards are roughly double what American Express collects in membership fees. So, its customers are getting a great deal on its cards. But American Express still turns a hefty profit because of the fees it collects from merchants. This brilliant business model creates high customer loyalty and interest in its latest offerings (as shown with the success of the new Platinum card). American Express cardholders are incentivized to use the cards for the bulk of their spending, which means more perks for cardholders and more transaction fee revenue for American Express.
American Express checks all the boxes
Despite more than tripling during the past five years, American Express shares remain a solid buy for 2026.
The stock is still a good value and carries a less expensive valuation than Visa and Mastercard.
American Express generates plenty of extra cash to repurchase stock and increase its dividend at a breakneck rate. During the past five years, American Express has roughly doubled its dividend. And the stock still yields more than Visa and Mastercard, even after its recent price run-up.
By catering to affluent customers, American Express is resistant to some of today's most pressing economic challenges.
All told, American Express has an elite business model and remains an excellent choice for long-term investors.
