T-Mobile, US, Inc. TMUS continues to benefit from healthy demand trends across wireless and broadband services. In the first quarter of 2026, the company added 217,000 postpaid net accounts, up 6% year over year. Total postpaid accounts reached 34.4 million. Superior network quality, compelling value offerings and enhanced customer experience are driving customer addition.
Postpaid Average Revenue Per Account (ARPA) increased 3.9% year over year to $151.93. Successful rate plan optimization, higher fee revenues, increased customer density per account and continued adoption of 5G broadband and T-Mobile for Business services are driving growth.
It continues to expand beyond traditional wireless offerings. The company added more than 0.5 million broadband net additions in the first quarter, supported by accelerating 5G broadband adoption and favorable customer experience metrics. Management highlighted that fixed wireless speeds remain ahead of peers while fiber partnerships and joint ventures are expanding the company’s addressable market in a capital-efficient manner.
Strong momentum prompted T-Mobile to raise guidance for 2026. The company expects postpaid net account addition of 950,000 to 1.05 million, up from prior guidance of 900,000 to 1.0 million. It expects full-year postpaid ARPA growth of 2.5-3%.
How Are Competitors Faring?
T-Mobile faces competition from AT&T, Inc. T and Verizon Communications, Inc. VZ in the U.S. telecom market. AT&T continues to invest in fiber and 5G to expand advanced Internet reach and drive more households to buy wireless and home Internet together. In first-quarter 2026, the company reported 584,000 total fiber and fixed wireless advanced Internet customer net additions, including 512,000 consumer advanced home Internet net adds. Within that, AT&T added 273,000 fiber net adds and 239,000 AT&T Internet Air net adds. Postpaid phone net adds were 294,000, and postpaid phone churn was 0.89%.
In first-quarter 2026, Verizon added 55,000 postpaid phone net additions, the first positive first-quarter total since 2013, and management tied the year-over-year swing of more than 340,000 to a higher mix of new-to-Verizon gross additions and a shift away from relying on heavy promotions. Verizon’s broadband build continues to broaden its addressable market and create more room to sell converged offers over time. In first-quarter 2026, Verizon delivered 341,000 broadband net additions, including 214,000 fixed wireless access net additions and 127,000 fiber broadband net additions, bringing fixed wireless access and fiber broadband connections to about 16.8 million.

Can T-Mobile Sustain Its Strong Customer Growth Momentum?

AT&T Inc. T and T-Mobile US, Inc. TMUS are major U.S. wireless carriers competing aggressively in the 5G market, battling for subscriber growth, network leadership and long-term cash flow strength. Operating as one of the premier wireless service providers in the United States, AT&T provides a vast array of communication and business solutions that include wireless, local exchange, long-distance, data/broadband and Internet, video, managed networking, wholesale and cloud-based services.
T-Mobile offers mobile voice, messaging and data services in the postpaid, prepaid and wholesale markets under the T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile and Sprint brands. The company is extensively deploying 5G and 4G LTE (Long-Term Evolution) networks across the country to bridge the digital divide.

In first-quarter 2026, the company reported 584,000 total fiber and fixed wireless advanced Internet customer net additions, including 512,000 consumer advanced home Internet net adds. Within that, AT&T reported 273,000 fiber net adds and 239,000 AT&T Internet Air net adds. Postpaid phone net adds were 294,000, and postpaid phone churn was 0.89%. AT&T also closed the Lumen Mass Markets fiber acquisition in early February 2026, adding 1.1 million fiber customers and more than 4 million fiber locations. Management expects fiber reach to grow by about 8 million locations in 2026, including more than 4 million locations acquired from Lumen, and remains on track to reach over 40 million total fiber locations by the end of 2026 and more than 60 million by the end of 2030.
However, despite its effort to reinforce focus on the customer-centric business model with an aim to maintain its customer base, its wireline division is struggling with persistent losses in access lines as a result of competitive pressure from voice-over-Internet-protocol (VoIP) service providers and aggressive triple-play (voice, data, video) offerings by the cable companies. Its effort to woo customers with healthy discounts, freebies and cash credits further escalates margin pressures. Stiff competition from Verizon Communications VZ is a headwind.
The Case for T-Mobile
T-Mobile’s business model largely depends on its “Un-carrier Value Proposition”, which aims to enhance customer satisfaction by means of providing the latest products at cheaper rates and on uncomplicated terms and conditions. The company continues to boast a leadership position in the 5G market. Its 5G network covers more than 330 million people in the country. The Ultra Capacity 5G delivers superfast speeds, powering 5G smartphones and enabling innovators to deliver transformational 5G experiences. It intends to bring more competition to home broadband, especially in underserved rural markets.
T-Mobile’s acquisition strategy has significantly strengthened its position in the wireless industry over the past few years. The company completed its acquisition of Sprint in 2020. The combined company’s network has 14 times more capacity than on a standalone basis, which enables it to leapfrog the competition in network capability and customer experience. The buyout of US Cellular’s wireless operations helped T-Mobile acquire all of its wireless operations along with 30% of its spectrum assets across several spectrum bands. The transaction enabled TMUS to expand both its fast-growing home broadband offerings and fixed wireless products through the additional capacity and coverage from the combined spectrum and wireless assets. It also enables the Un-carrier to lease space on various US Cellular towers to ensure continued, uninterrupted service for its customers.
T-Mobile continues to deploy 5G with the mid-band 2.5 GHz spectrum from Sprint. The 2.5 GHz 5G delivers superfast speeds and extensive coverage with signals that go through walls and trees, unlike 5G networks that are controlled by the mmWave spectrum. This gives the un-carrier a competitive edge over AT&T and Verizon. In many places, mid-band 5G average download speeds are around 300 Mbps with peak speeds approaching 1 Gbps. It plans to continue growing this 5G spectrum deployment at an aggressive pace. T-Mobile’s business strategy is built on covering 90% of rural America with average 5G speeds of 50 Mbps, up to two times faster than broadband.
However, the U.S. wireless market is highly competitive and saturated. T-Mobile has multiple wireless competitors, some of which have greater resources than it does. Intensifying competition with a relatively fixed pool of customers is putting pressure on pricing. To lure customers from competitors, T-Mobile has launched several low-priced service plans for consumers as well as small business entities. Management’s strategy of introducing several promotional activities such as free music streaming, video offers and price cuts on service plans and adoption of phone leasing plans, where equipment revenues are not booked upfront, creates a margin squeeze for the company.

SpaceX is asking a premium price
A $1.77 trillion valuation would make SpaceX the eighth-largest company in the world by market cap, just above Saudi Aramco's $1.75 trillion and Meta Platforms' (NASDAQ: META) $1.5 trillion, but just below Broadcom's (NASDAQ: AVGO) $1.8 trillion.
One of the most common methods to assess the value of an unprofitable company like SpaceX is the price-to-sales (P/S) ratio, which compares the company's market capitalization to its annual revenue (with a lower multiple being better).
SpaceX's $1.77 trillion valuation gives it an eye-popping P/S ratio of 93.7 times its 2025 revenue. By comparison, tech titan Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) only trades at 23.2 times its prior fiscal year's revenue, and most artificial intelligence (AI) companies trade at even lower valuations. Even notoriously pricey AI security company Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ: PLTR) has a P/S ratio of "only" 77.7 times last year's sales.
It's not uncommon for a high-growth company to have extremely high valuation metrics, but SpaceX is far from "high-growth" at present.
SpaceX's business segments have what some would call subpar growth
SpaceX's first-quarter 2026 year-over-year revenue growth rate was an unimpressive 12.5%. By comparison, Nvidia and Palantir each grew their Q1 revenue by 85% year over year. But what about SpaceX's prospects for future growth?
The company claims it has a total addressable market (TAM) of $28.5 trillion. Taking just a 1% share of such a large market would result in $285 billion in annual revenue, a huge improvement from the $18.7 billion SpaceX brought in last year.
The vast majority of that claimed TAM -- $22.7 trillion of the $28.5 trillion -- is the market for "AI enterprise applications." Right now, neither SpaceX nor its recently purchased xAI is a significant player in that category. SpaceX's only stated strategy to address said market is "serving the digital needs of the world's largest industries with AI solutions."
That's not very compelling (or descriptive!).
Small markets don't justify huge valuations
While SpaceX believes its xAI market opportunity is vast, it feels very differently about the markets for its other businesses.
SpaceX's rocket launch business is clearly the global leader in its industry, having transported more than 80% of the mass put into orbit in 2025, and its Starlink satellite broadband and mobile service is the only part of the company that's profitable right now. But the company believes these businesses have just a $2 trillion TAM put together. And in all of 2025, they brought in just $15.4 billion in revenue (0.8% of the claimed TAM).
Even if SpaceX is correct about its TAM size, growing its market share will take time. Even if SpaceX could immediately quadruple its current companywide 12.5% revenue growth rate to 50%, and maintain that growth for five years straight (a tall order), by 2030 it would only bring in $141.8 billion in revenue, a mere 0.5% of its claimed TAM. On the other hand, if SpaceX continues at its current growth rate, its 2030 revenue would be a mere $33.7 billion.
A fair valuation
If Musk does a good job steering the (space)ship, SpaceX's growth rate will probably increase from 12.5% but fall short of 50%; perhaps it might average around the 20%-to-25% range. So, how are similar AI and/or communications companies with $18.7 billion in revenue and a 20% revenue growth rate valued?
Well, Seagate Technology (NASDAQ: STX), which manufactures data storage devices, grew its revenue by 21% last year to $11 billion, and data center infrastructure specialist Arista Networks (NYSE: ANET) grew its revenue 22.1% over the past year, to $9.7 billion. Both are still smaller than SpaceX from a revenue standpoint, but are currently growing faster. As for communications companies, T-Mobile US (NASDAQ: TMUS) has current revenue of $90.5 billion, higher than SpaceX's, but its annual revenue growth rate of 7.7% is lower.
Interestingly, these three profitable companies have nearly identical market caps: $194.2 billion for T-Mobile US, $193.4 billion for Arista, and $191 billion for Seagate. That suggests a fair market capitalization for SpaceX is probably somewhere around $150 billion to $250 billion. Maybe you could make the case for a $500 billion market cap if you are a big fan of Musk's AI vision. But even if you're extremely optimistic about SpaceX's revenue and margin growth potential, it'd be hard to argue it's worth more than about $750 billion.
But $1.77 trillion? Not even close. From a value standpoint, investors should steer clear of SpaceX's stock until they see evidence that the company is capturing more than a tiny fraction of its purported market share.

The company continues to add new fiber locations and increase its fiber customer base across the United States. AT&T's fiber investments are helping support cloud computing, AI-driven applications and the growing need for fast and reliable connectivity.
T-Mobile is strengthening its presence in the fiber broadband market to complement its wireless business. The company announced fiber initiatives and acquisitions aimed at reaching more homes with high-speed Internet services. SpaceX, the aerospace and AI company founded by Elon Musk, will go public on June 12. It could raise $75 billion at a valuation of $2 trillion, making it the biggest IPO in history.
Many investors are selling other stocks to free up cash to buy SpaceX's shares. However, one stock that resisted that sell-off was AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ: ASTS), which operates in the same satellite internet services market as SpaceX's Starlink.

Instead, AST's stock rallied more than 30% this year as SpaceX's looming IPO lifted most space stocks. Should investors take profits in AST today to buy more shares of SpaceX?
The differences between AST SpaceMobile and SpaceX
AST and SpaceX's Starlink both operate Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites that provide internet connectivity to areas where terrestrial cellular towers can't reach. However, the two companies operate different business models.
AST helps telecom giants like AT&T and Verizon directly connect their mobile devices to its satellites, but it doesn't provide its own internet service. Starlink offers its own satellite internet service, which requires a dedicated dish, but it also helps telecom companies like T-Mobile add satellite services to their smartphones.
AST processes its cellular data on the ground through its Radio Access Network (RAN) software, while its satellites function as repeaters. Starlink processes most of its cellular data directly in its satellites. Therefore, AST can upgrade its networks to new cellular technologies (such as 6G) from the ground, whereas Starlink needs to replace its physical satellites.
AST has only launched seven satellites so far, while Starlink has launched over 12,000 satellites (more than 10,000 of which are still active). However, AST's satellites are much larger (with 693 to 2,400 sq ft arrays) than Starlink's satellites (with 65 to 125 sq ft arrays).
AST plans to have 45 to 60 satellites in orbit by the end of 2026, and up to 248 satellites over the next few years. Starlink plans to expand its constellation to 42,000 satellites. There could be plenty of room for both companies to grow, since they mainly serve different markets.
How fast are AST and SpaceX growing?
SpaceX has several advantages over AST. It's much bigger, and it controls Starlink's entire production pipeline through its space division's orbital rockets and its AI division's software. Starlink is also profitable on its own, while AST remains unprofitable.
In 2025, SpaceX's revenue rose 33% to $18.7 billion, and it generated a net profit of $791 million, with Starlink's profits offsetting its space division's losses. But after it integrated xAI (which also owns X) into its business to launch its new AI division this May, it recast those results -- and it ended up with a staggering net loss of $4.9 billion in 2025. That cash-burning AI segment will remain a dead weight on its bottom line as it expands its infrastructure.
With a $2 trillion market debut, SpaceX would trade 107 times its 2025 sales. AST SpaceMobile looks even pricier at 288 times last year's sales -- but that's because it only launched its first commercial satellites in late 2024.
That's why AST's revenue surged 1,505% to $71 million in 2025. Its net loss widened from $300 million to $342 million, but it isn't burdened by money-losing rocket and AI divisions. Instead, it relies on SpaceX's Falcon rockets to carry its BlueBird (BB) satellites into orbit.
But is AST SpaceMobile a better investment than SpaceX?
If SpaceX grows its top line at a 30% CAGR from 2025 to 2028, its revenue would reach $41.1 billion by the final year. At $2 trillion, it would trade at 49 times that estimate.
As for AST, analysts expect its revenue to grow at a 198% CAGR from 2025 to 2028, reaching $1.9 billion by the final year. At its current market cap of $28 billion, it trades at 15 times that estimate, making it seem more reasonably valued than SpaceX.
Analysts also expect AST to turn profitable in 2027 and 2028 as economies of scale kick in. SpaceX will likely struggle to break even as its AI and space losses erase Starlink's profits.
Based on these facts, I don't think investors should sell their AST shares to buy SpaceX. SpaceX will inevitably pull back after its red-hot market debut, so there's no reason to chase it when AST still looks reasonably valued relative to its long-term growth potential.

Should You Sell AST SpaceMobile to Buy SpaceX at IPO?

Some of the biggest U.S.-listed public offerings are names that might surprise you.
Just as surprising is how little money these outfits actually raised at the time compared to their current size.
Even so, breaking fundraising records in place at the time of their IPOs merits a closer look.
SpaceX's initial public offering is now officially imminent. Its final pricing is expected on June 11, with public trading to begin on June 12. The latest word is that the company aims to raise $75 billion by selling 555.6 million shares at $135 apiece, implying a corporate valuation of $1.75 trillion.
That would make it the biggest IPO ever in terms of the total amount of money raised, and in terms of market capitalization at the time the public offering is made. Indeed, that valuation would instantaneously make SpaceX the world's ninth biggest publicly traded company, right behind Broadcom, and just ahead of Elon Musk's other company, Tesla.

Almost needless to say, expectations are high.
This begs the question: What were the biggest U.S.-listed initial public offerings up until this point, and how did they perform out of the gate?
Uber Technologies
IPO date: May 10, 2019
Amount raised: $8.1 billion
Initial valuation: $82.4 billion
Ride-hailing outfit Uber Technologies (NYSE: UBER) arguably waited just a little too long to go public. While the company was still satisfied with its result in early 2019, insiders were disappointed with a final price that came in nearer the bottom of its suggested price range. Had it happened just a few months earlier -- when the hype surrounding the company was stronger -- Uber might have fared better.
Things worked out better in the long run for its earliest shareholders, though, letting them in at a lower price in front of a 58% gain since its IPO.
Uber shares were losing ground shortly after the initial hype faded, but before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 brought the world to a screeching halt, including companies' businesses. We'll never know for sure if the capitulation in March 2020 was caused by the contagion, or if it was going to happen anyway.
AT&T Wireless
IPO date: April 27, 2000
Amount raised: $10.6 billion
Initial valuation: $68.1 billion
Contrary to a common assumption, the AT&T Wireless of the early 2000s isn't really the AT&T (NYSE: T) of today. In fact, AT&T Wireless was technically a spinoff from AT&T that would go on to be acquired by Cingular in 2004. Cingular was part of SBC Communications, which would also eventually acquire the rest of AT&T anyway, and use the familiar name as an umbrella for all of its businesses. It's also been through several evolutions in the meantime, including the acquisition and eventual sale of DirecTV, as well as the purchase and exit of entertainment giant Time Warner.
That's why any lookback at this stock's post-IPO performance would be meaningless. Making it even more meaningless is the fact that it happened right at the beginning of the tech-wreck of 2000. It wasn't a publicly traded outfit long enough to really matter.
For what it's worth, though, AT&T Wireless' IPO was still record-breaking at the time.
Rivian Automotive
IPO date: Nov. 10, 2021
Amount raised: $11.9 billion
Initial valuation: $66.5 billion
Although it happened smack-dab in the middle of the coronavirus contagion, that was actually a brilliant time for electric vehicle up-and-comer Rivian Automotive (NASDAQ: RIVN) to go public. Interest in stocks was high, and investor interest in electric vehicle manufacturers was particularly pronounced.
Unfortunately, that apparent bullishness would implode shortly thereafter. RIVN shares peaked just a few days after the company's IPO, leading into a sell-off that still has this stock valued 77% below its public offering price of $78.
Deutsche Telekom
IPO date: Nov. 18, 1996
Amount raised: €10.0 billion ($13 billion)
Initial valuation: $50 billion
Yes, Deutsche Telekom (OTC: DTEGY) is a German company serving the German market. It's got strong links to the U.S. market, though, and was very much a U.S. stock when the state-owned telecom carrier went public with a New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) listing in November 1996. The company is still the majority owner of American wireless powerhouse T-Mobile, and is currently even exploring the prospect of a full-blown merger of the two wireless outfits.
The NYSE listing of this ADR (American depositary receipt), created in conjunction with its listing in Germany, has since been downgraded to an over-the-counter -- or OTC -- issue. The stock hasn't performed particularly well since tumbling during, and because of, the dot-com meltdown of 2000.
There's no denying that it had a very strong start, even if it was fueled by the unsustainably bullish hype that was starting to firm up in the latter half of the 1990s.
General Motors
IPO date: Nov. 17, 2010
Amount raised: $20.1 billion
Initial valuation: $63 billion
It's true! The General Motors (NYSE: GM) of today has only been publicly traded since late 2010. There's some important context to remember. The old General Motors went bankrupt in 2009, forcing a reorganization that led to the creation of brand new shares.
Regardless, at the time of their public debut, their sale represented the stock market's largest-ever fundraising.
They've performed pretty well in the meantime, too. Although they ran into a headwind in early 2011 that would linger into and through most of 2012, shares are now up a little over 150% since then. That's pretty impressive for an automobile maker.
Facebook
IPO date: May 18, 2012
Amount raised: $16 billion
Initial valuation: $104 billion
Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) -- back when it was still just Facebook -- tells one of the market's most cautionary tales about insisting on buying newly minted stocks as soon as you can. It tumbled right out of the gate, falling more than 50% over the course of the 18 weeks following its May 2012 public offering.
Granted, it's since gone on to gain more than 1,600% from its public offering price, clearly paying off for patient shareholders.
Visa
IPO date: March 19, 2008
Amount raised: $19.1 billion
Initial valuation: $39 billion
Although it's been around seemingly forever, credit card payment network giant Visa (NYSE: V) has only been publicly traded since early 2008. It's done very well during this 18-year stretch, surging immediately after its shares began trading on the NYSE.
Now look more closely at the chart above. While it rallied right out of the gate and is well up for the entirety of its existence, less than three months after its IPO, it was down more than 50% from its post-IPO peak.
Even so, at the time, its public offering broke U.S. fundraising records.
Alibaba
IPO date: Sept. 18, 2014
Amount raised: $25 billion
Initial valuation: $167.7 billion
Finally, add China's e-commerce powerhouse Alibaba (NYSE: BABA) to the list of the biggest-ever U.S. public offerings. At a total of $25 billion raised, it's still technically the biggest, in fact, even if that title is doomed by the looming SpaceX IPO.
Like most of the other names on -- and not on -- this list, BABA stock got a pretty good start as a publicly traded equity. However, also like most other well-watched IPOs, this one rolled over about a month after its public offering. A little over a year later, shares were down by more than half of their post-IPO high, falling under their public offering price in the process.
The stock's obviously overcome this early setback in the meantime, although it's been a spectacularly wild ride.
The takeaway
There are arguably some names missing from this list, like Saudi Aramco, SoftBank, NTT Mobile, and Enel SpA, just to name a few. These tickers are largely excluded because these companies' primary stock listings aren't in the United States, or these names were -- and are -- of little interest to most U.S. investors.
The same underlying patterns that apply to the tickers discussed above apply to them, however, just as they're likely to apply to the upcoming IPO of SpaceX stock. That's a whole lot of bullish interest shortly after the stock starts trading, followed by a prolonged period of weakness rooted in the reality that these stocks' early valuations don't make a whole lot of sense. There was simply too much hype doing too much work early on.
Still, there's no denying that most of these sizable, high-profile public offerings ended up panning out nicely for patient early shareholders.
