DBEF, SPOT, TEVA, NBIS: ETF Outflow Alert

(RTTNews) - Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (TEVA) said, for 2026, non-GAAP operating income is now projected in a range of $3.80 - $4.0 billion, revised from $4.55 - $4.8 billion stand-alone outlook, impacted by an expected $700 million IPR&D charge and $75 million to reflect Emalex's operating expenses and transaction-related expenses. The company expects EPS in a range of $1.91 - $2.11, revised from prior Stand-Alone Outlook of $2.57 - $2.77. Adjusted EBITDA is projected in a range of $4.23 - $4.53 billion, updated from stand-alone guidance of $5.0 - $5.3 billion. Revenue guidance remains unchanged.
First quarter net income attributable to Teva were $369 million and $0.31 per share, compared to $214 million and $0.18 per share, a year ago. Non-GAAP net income attributable to Teva was $621 million and $0.53 per share compared to $602 million and $0.52 per share. Adjusted EBITDA was $1.055 billion, an increase of 1% from prior year. Revenues in the first quarter were $3.98 billion, an increase of 2% in U.S. dollars, or a decrease of 3% in local currency terms compared to the first quarter of 2025.
Teva's Board instructed management to plan for a share repurchase program that may be implemented. Teva also stated that it is on track to achieve its 2027 financial targets.
In pre-market trading on NYSE, Teva shares are up 6.37 percent to $33.66.

Teva Lowers 2026 Non-GAAP Operating Profit Outlook On Emalex Deal; On Track To Achieve 2027 Targets

(RTTNews) - Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd. (TEVA) has agreed to acquire Emalex Bioscience, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on central nervous system disorders, in a deal that strengthens Teva's neuroscience pipeline and supports its Pivot to Growth strategy.
Emalex's lead candidate is Ecopipam, a first-in-class selective dopamine D1 receptor antagonist being developed for pediatric Tourette syndrome. Ecopipam has received FDA Orphan Drug and Fast Track designations, and positive Phase 3 data demonstrated statistically significant improvement on the study's primary efficacy endpoint. An NDA submission is anticipated in the second half of 2026.
Under the terms of the agreement, Teva will pay $700 million in cash upon closing. Emalex shareholders will also be eligible for up to $200 million in commercial milestone payments, along with royalties on global net sales of Ecopipam, subject to regulatory approval.
Tourette syndrome is a chronic childhood-onset neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by involuntary motor and vocal tics. Current treatments primarily target dopamine D2 receptors and can be limited by side effects, leaving a significant unmet need for additional options. Ecopipam, which blocks dopamine signaling at the D1 receptor, represents a novel approach to managing symptoms while minimizing side effects.
Richard Francis, Teva's President and CEO, said the acquisition exemplifies Teva's growth strategy: "There is a real unmet need in Tourette syndrome, and families deserve additional options that can help manage symptoms while minimizing side effects. With our deep neuroscience expertise, we are well-positioned to advance this first-in-class investigational compound."
Eric Messner, CEO of Emalex, added that the transaction reflects years of focused work to deliver better therapies for patients with Tourette syndrome, noting that Teva's global scale will accelerate access to Ecopipam.
The acquisition, backed by Emalex's founding investor Paragon Biosciences, is expected to close by the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals. Teva will fund the upfront payment using cash on hand and remains on track to meet its 2027 financial targets.
Teva is scheduled to release its Q1 2026 financial results today at 8:00 AM EST.
TEVA has traded between $14.99 and $37.35 over the past year. The stock closed Tuesday's trading at $31.62, up 1.15%. In the pre-market trading, the stock is at $33.50, up 5.86%.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (NYSE: TEVA) will unveil its first-quarter results this Wednesday, April 29. Many Teva trackers will be watching for validation of the company's continuing strategic pivot. Perhaps it's a good idea to buy the veteran pharmaceutical company's stock in advance of the event. Let's explore.
A pivotal period
Teva's transformation strategy, the self-descriptive "Pivot to Growth," was formally announced in 2023. For years, the company has been the world's top manufacturer of generic drugs. In the days when that healthcare segment was relatively limited, Teva ruled its niche. But success attracts competition, and with market share to fight for, margins (and thus profits) started to fall.

Teva's solution was to prioritize the development and commercialization of its own proprietary medications. The company had always had such products on the market, but the strategy shift pushed these efforts to the forefront.
So far, the approach has worked. In fact, Teva recently developed its first blockbuster drug (i.e., one with annual sales above $1 billion). This hit product is Austedo, which treats two neuropathic movement disorders.
In 2025, the drug's global sales leaped 34% year over year in local currency terms to almost $2.3 billion. The company's two other main "innovative brands" also saw inspiring growth. Migraine treatment Ajovy's take grew by 3% to $673 million, while up-and-coming psychiatric drug Uzedy's sales sailed 63% higher to $191 million.
Teva's business still rests on a foundation of generics and biosimilars, which together comprised 54% of total revenue in 2025. That's why the company's top line rose a relatively modest 4% that year (to almost $17.3 billion). Luckily, these products are doing better than some might expect, given their comparatively low sale prices and the increased competition. Their sales increased 2% in 2025.
Future highflier
Since announcing Pivot to Growth, Teva has effectively built a broad pipeline featuring several high-potential drugs. These include colitis/Crohn's disease treatment Duvakitug and schizophrenia medication Olanzapine LAI.
Even in the final phases of development, medicines can take quite some time to earn approval and eventually reach pharmacy shelves. So to me, Teva's brightest future isn't in the short term, but in the years ahead, as these investigational programs (hopefully) yield commercialized products.
Analysts tracking Teva stock aren't expecting whiz-bang results from the company in the first quarter. Their consensus estimate for revenue ($3.79 billion) is almost 3% below the same period in 2025. Accompanying this is a collective forecast of a 12% slide in earnings per share (EPS), to $0.46.
The story is different with full-year 2027 projections, however, and that's revealing. That year's revenue is expected to bounce back, rising 4% over 2026 to nearly $17.2 billion, and EPS is expected to rise 17% to $3.13. Given the promising pipeline, I think the 2027 estimates might be conservative; meanwhile, growth could be more robust in the future.
Given all of the above, I wouldn't buy Teva stock before Wednesday's earnings release. A better play is to anticipate share price weakness post-earnings, then pull the lever. Even if the shares rise modestly, they'd still be a bargain given Teva's considerable future potential.

Johnson & Johnson’s JNJ first-quarter results were better than expected as it beat estimates for both earnings and sales. Despite the blockbuster drug, Stelara's loss of exclusivity (LOE), the Innovative Medicines unit once again outperformed expectations as sales of most key drugs like Darzalex, Tremfya and Erleada beat estimates. The company also marginally raised its sales and earnings guidance for the year.
However, a single quarter’s results are not so important for long-term investors, and the focus should rather be on the company’s strong fundamentals. Let’s understand the company’s strengths and weaknesses to better analyze how to play J&J stock in the post-earnings scenario.
JNJ’s Innovative Medicine Showing Consistent Growth
J&J’s Innovative Medicine unit is showing a growth trend. The segment’s sales rose 5.6% on an organic basis in the first quarter of 2026 despite Stelara’s LOE. Growth was driven by J&J’s key drugs like Darzalex, Erleada and Tremfya. New drugs like Carvykti, Tecvayli, Talvey, Rybrevant and Spravato also contributed significantly to growth.
The segment recorded four consecutive quarters of sales of more than $15 billion despite the LOE of Stelara.
In 2026, J&J expects accelerated growth in the Innovative Medicine segment despite Stelara LOE. The growth is expected to be driven by its key products, such as Darzalex, Tremfya, Spravato, Carvykti and Erleada, as well as increased contribution from new launches like Icotyde, Rybrevant and Inlexzo.
J&J’s Recent Significant Pipeline Progress
In 2025, J&J invested more than $32 billion in R&D and M&A, including the acquisitions of Intra-Cellular Therapies and Halda Therapeutics.
J&J also rapidly advanced its pipeline in the past year, attaining significant clinical and regulatory milestones that will help drive growth through the back half of the decade. In 2025, it gained approval for new products like Inlexzoh/TAR-200, a first-of-its-kind drug-releasing system, for treating high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer and Imaavy (nipocalimab) for treating generalized myasthenia gravis.
J&J believes that nipocalimab has a pipeline-in-a-product potential. The positive trend of new drug approvals continued in 2026 with the FDA approving J&J and partner Protagonist Therapeutics’ PTGX Icotyde (icotrokinra), an oral targeted peptide inhibitor of the IL-23 receptor, for treating moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis (PsO) in the United States in March. J&J believes that Icotyde/icotrokinra has the potential to revolutionize the treatment of plaque psoriasis with a once-a-day pill. It has the potential to be J&J’s largest product ever, with $10 billion in sales potential.
J&J’s new cancer drugs, Carvykti, Tecvayli, Talvey and Rybrevant/Lazcluze are contributing significantly to top-line growth driven by market share gains. Combined, they generated $1.2 billion in sales in the first quarter of 2026. J&J’s acquisition of Intra-Cellular Therapies added antidepressant drug, Caplyta, to its neuroscience portfolio, which is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia, depression in both bipolar 1 and 2, and major depressive disorder. Caplyta generated $270 million in sales in the first quarter.
J&J expects a more pronounced impact from new products in 2026 than in 2025. J&J expects that contributions from its new product launches across oncology, immunology and neuroscience will increase as the year progresses.
J&J believes 10 of its new products/pipeline candidates in the Innovative Medicine segment have the potential to deliver peak sales of $5 billion, including Talvey, Tecvayli, Imaavy, Caplyta, Inlexzo, Rybrevant plus Lazcluze and Icotyde.
J&J’s MedTech Segment Sales Improving
J&J’s MedTech business has improved in the past four quarters, driven by the acquired cardiovascular businesses, Abiomed and Shockwave, as well as Surgical Vision and wound closure in Surgery. Improvements in J&J’s electrophysiology business also drove growth. MedTech sales rose 4.7% on an organic basis in the first quarter.
Moreover, the potential separation of its Orthopaedics franchise into a standalone orthopedics-focused company, called DePuy Synthes, should improve its MedTech unit’s growth and margins. The Orthopaedics franchise has been a slow-growth business for J&J.
In 2026, J&J expects better growth in the MedTech business than 2025 levels, driven by increased adoption of newly launched products across Cardiovascular, Surgery and Vision portfolios.
However, the company continues to face headwinds in China. Sales in China are being hurt by the impact of the volume-based procurement (VBP) program, which is a government-driven cost containment effort in China. J&J expects continued impacts from VBP issues in China in 2026, mainly in the second half.
Patent Expiration of J&J’s Drug Stelara & Other Headwinds
J&J lost U.S. patent exclusivity of Stelara in 2025. Stelara was a key top-line driver for J&J, accounting for around 18% of J&J’s Innovative Medicine unit’s sales in 2024, before it lost patent exclusivity in 2025.
Several biosimilar versions of Stelara were launched in the United States in 2025 as the drug lost patent exclusivity.
According to patent settlements and license agreements, Amgen AMGN, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries TEVA, Samsung Bioepis/Sandoz and some other companies launched Stelara biosimilars in 2025. Stelara’s LOE negatively impacted the Innovative Medicines segment’s growth by 920 basis points and total revenues by 540 basis points in the first quarter. Stelara’s sales declined 62% in the first quarter, which was steeper than expected. J&J expects generic impact for both Simponi and Opsumit to begin in 2026 as the drugs lose patent protection.
In addition, sales are being hurt by the impact of the Medicare Part D redesign under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The Part D redesign is mainly affecting sales of drugs like Stelara, Erleada and pulmonary hypertension drugs.
J&J faces more than 74,000 lawsuits for its talc-based products, primarily baby powders. The lawsuits allege that its talc products contain asbestos, which caused many women to develop ovarian cancer. J&J insists that its talc-based products are safe and do not cause cancer. The company permanently discontinued the sales of the talc-based Johnson’s Baby Powder.
In April 2025, a bankruptcy court in Texas rejected J&J’s proposed bankruptcy plan to settle its talc lawsuits after a two-week trial in Houston. J&J has gone back to the traditional tort system to fight the lawsuits individually, with its bankruptcy strategy to settle the lawsuits failing for the third time.

J&J’s shares have outperformed the industry over the past year. The stock has risen 49.3% in the past year compared with 20.4% appreciationof the industry.

Its diversification helps it to withstand economic cycles more effectively. It also boasts strong cash flows and has increased its dividends for 64 consecutive years. J&J believes that the depth of its portfolio and pipeline is stronger than ever.
The company expects 2026 to be a year of accelerated growth, and the beat-and-raise performance in the first quarter shows it is delivering on that promise. The company expects both its Innovative Medicines and MedTech segments to deliver stronger growth this year. The company is confident that it can achieve its target of generating around $100 billion in revenues in 2026. It expects sales to continue to improve in 2027, with a “line of sight” to double-digit growth by the end of the decade. J&J believes that it is already achieving this growth. Though J&J’s total revenues are currently rising in a mid-single-digit range, excluding Stelara, J&J’s top line grew in a double-digit range in the first quarter.
Despite headwinds like the legal battle surrounding its talc lawsuits, the Stelara patent cliff, the upcoming LOE of key drugs Opsumit and Simponi and softness in MedTech China, J&J looks quite confident that it will be able to navigate these challenges.

How to Play J&J Stock Post a Beat-and-Raise Performance in Q1

FDA approval of long-acting schizophrenia drug olanzapine could be Teva's biggest near-term catalyst.

After a multi-year slump, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited (NYSE: TEVA) is on a roll. Shares of the Israel-based drugmaker have soared more than 130% over the last 12 months. Could Teva's momentum continue? Wall Street thinks so.
Twelve of the 15 analysts surveyed by S&P Global (NYSE: SPGI) in April rated the pharmaceutical stock as a "buy" or "strong buy." There are three specific catalysts that could send Teva stock to $40 -- and perhaps beyond.

1. Olanzapine approval
Roughly three months ago, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) accepted Teva's New Drug Application (NDA) for olanzapine extended-release injectable suspension (TEV-'749) for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults. An approval decision is expected later this year.
Evercore ISI (NYSE: EVR) analyst Umer Raffat views the potential approval of olanzapine as Teva's "most meaningful catalyst." I think that Raffat is right.
Although olanzapine is already one of the most commonly prescribed antipsychotics for treating schizophrenia, there are no long-acting formulations of the drug for which the FDA doesn't require a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS). Under a REMS, the drug must be administered in a certified facility. Patients must also be monitored for three hours after the injection.
Teva's long-acting olanzapine formulation, which the company doesn't expect to require a REMS, should significantly increase treatment adherence. Olanzapine and Uzedy, another long-acting drug marketed by Teva for treating schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, could together achieve peak annual sales of more than $2 billion.
2. Specialty drug momentum
Another potential catalyst for Teva is the acceleration of commercial momentum for its specialty drugs. Austedo ranks as the most important member of this group. The drug is approved as a treatment for tardive dyskinesia (TD) and Huntington's disease chorea (involuntary, jerky muscle movements).
Austedo generated sales of $2.26 billion in 2025, a 34% year-over-year increase from 2024. Teva expects the drug to rake in between $2.4 billion and $2.55 billion this year.
Migraine therapy Ajovy and Uzedy are also key parts of Teva's specialty drug success. Ajovy's sales jumped 30% year over year in 2025 to $673 million. Uzedy's sales soared 63% to $191 million.
3. Biosimilar boom
We can't overlook Teva's biosimilar boom. The company expects to launch six new biosimilars in 2026 and 2027.
Teva could soon battle Amgen (NASDAQ: AMGN) with new biosimilars to bone disease drugs Prolia and Xgeva. It could threaten Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) in the autoimmune disease market with Simponi and Simponi Aria biosimilars. Teva could also soon secure approval for a biosimilar to Regeneron's (NASDAQ: REGN) eye disease drug Eylea.
Jefferies (NYSE: JEF) thinks 2026 will be a pivotal year for Teva to convince investors that its research and development pipeline can deliver. However, Teva has more biosimilars on the way in 2028 and later. The company now boasts the biopharmaceutical industry's second-largest biosimilar portfolio.
What could derail Teva's rise?
These three catalysts might just propel Teva to $40 or higher in the near future. But what could detail the stock's rise?
A stock market crash would likely drag Tesla down in its wake. Major pipeline or regulatory setbacks could bring the stock's momentum to a screeching halt. Slowing Austedo sales would probably do the trick as well.
The good news is that Teva's pipeline is de-risked to some extent, with several late-stage programs. And thanks to a forward earnings multiple of only 11.7, Teva is practically a value stock.
I wouldn't bet the farm on Teva's share price reaching $40 within the next 12 months. However, I wouldn't bet against it happening, either.

Notable ETF Inflow Detected - ACWX, SPOT, PDD, TEVA

Johnson & Johnson’s JNJ first-quarter 2026 earnings came in at $2.70 per share, which beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.67. Earnings declined 2.5% from the year-ago period.
Adjusted earnings exclude intangible amortization expense and special items. Including these items, reported earnings were $2.14 per share, down 52.9% year over year.
Sales of this drug and medical devices giant came in at $24.1 billion, which also beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $23.44 billion.
Sales rose 9.9% from the year-ago quarter, reflecting an operational increase of 6.4% and a positive currency impact of 3.5%. Organically, excluding the impact of acquisitions/divestitures and currency, sales rose 5.3% on an operational basis.
First-quarter sales in the domestic market rose 8.3% to $13.33 billion. Excluding the impact of all acquisitions and divestitures on an adjusted operational basis, domestic sales rose 6.2% in the quarter.
International sales rose 11.9% on a reported basis to $10.7 billion, reflecting an operational increase of 3.9% and a positive currency impact of 8.0%. Excluding the impact of all acquisitions and divestitures on an adjusted operational basis, international sales rose 4.0% in the quarter.
J&J’s Innovative Medicines Unit Continues its Outperformance
J&J’s Innovative Medicines segment sales rose 11.2% year over year to $15.43 billion, reflecting a 7.4% operational increase and a positive currency impact of 3.8%. Excluding the impact of all acquisitions and divestitures and currency on an adjusted operational basis, worldwide sales rose 5.6%. Innovative Medicines sales beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $15.05 billion.
Higher sales of key products such as Darzalex, Tremfya and Erleada due to strong market growth and share gains drove the segment’s growth. New drugs like Carvykti, Tecvayli, Talvey, Rybrevant and Spravato contributed significantly to growth. The sales growth was partially dampened by biosimilar competition to blockbuster drug Stelara and lower sales of Imbruvica.
JNJ’s Strong Oncology Drugs’ Performance
Sales of blockbuster multiple myeloma medicine Darzalex rose 22.5% year over year to $3.96 billion in the quarter. Sales beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $3.85 billion.
Imbruvica sales declined 6.9% to $660.0 million. Rising competitive pressure in the United States due to new oral competition has been hurting Imbruvica's sales for the past few quarters. Imbruvica sales were, however, better than the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $637.0 million.
Erleada generated sales of $949.0 million in the quarter, up 23.1% year over year. Erleada sales beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $919.0 million.
New drug Carvykti recorded sales of $597.0 million, up 62.1% year over year. Another new drug, Tecvayli, recorded sales of $202.0 million in the quarter, up 33.5% year over year,
Sales of Talvey were $152.0 million, up 76.7% year over year. Rybrevant/Lazcluze sales were $257.0 million compared with $216.0 million in the previous quarter.
JNJ’s Immunology Drugs’ Performance
Stelara sales declined 59.7% to $656.0 million in the quarter due to the impact of biosimilar competition. While U.S. sales of Stelara declined 77.6%, international sales declined 32.4% in the quarter. Stelara sales significantly missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $944.0 million.
Several biosimilar versions of J&J’s multi-billion-dollar immunology drug, Stelara, were launched in the United States in 2025. According to patent settlements and license agreements, Amgen AMGN, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries TEVA, Samsung Bioepis/Sandoz, and some other companies have launched Stelara biosimilars. Stelara’s loss of exclusivity (LOE) negatively impacted the Innovative Medicines segment’s growth by 920 basis points in the quarter.
Tremfya recorded sales of $1.61 billion in the quarter, up 68.3% year over year. Tremfya sales beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.48 billion.
Simponi/Simponi Aria sales declined 1.7% to $647.0 million. Sales of Remicade declined 9.5% in the quarter to $422.0 million.
JNJ’s Neuroscience, PAH and Other Drugs’ Performance
In neuroscience, Spravato recorded sales of $468.0 million, up 46.4% year over year. Caplyta, added from last year’s acquisition of Intra-Cellular Therapies, recorded sales of $270 million in the quarter compared with $249.0 million in the previous quarter. Invega Sustenna/Xeplion/Invega Trinza/Trevicta sales rose 15% to $1.04 billion in the quarter.
Pulmonary hypertension (PH) drug Uptravi recorded sales of $483.0 million, up 7.1% year over year. Another PAH drug, Opsumit, recorded sales of $606.0 million, up 16.1% year over year.
Xarelto sales declined 7% in the quarter to $642.0 million. Prezista sales rose 10% to $443.0 million.
MedTech Segment Sales Continue to Improve
MedTech segment sales came in at $8.64 billion, up 7.7% from the year-ago period, including an operational increase of 4.6% and a positive currency impact of 3.1%. MedTech segment sales beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $8.57 billion.
Excluding the impact of all acquisitions and divestitures, and currency, on an adjusted operational basis, worldwide sales rose 4.7%. The MedTech business has improved in the last four quarters, driven by strong performance in three focus areas: Cardiovascular, Surgery and Vision.
However, the company faces headwinds in China, where sales are being hurt by the impact of the volume-based procurement (VBP) program. VBP is a government-driven cost containment effort in China.
JNJ Slightly Ups 2026 Guidance
J&J raised its 2026 sales guidance range from $100.0 billion-$101.0 billion to $100.3 billion-$101.3 billion. The sales projection indicates growth in the range of 6.5%-7.5% versus the prior expectation of 6.2%-7.2%. Operational sales growth is expected in the range of 5.9%-6.9% versus the prior expectation of 5.7%-6.7%.
Adjusted operational sales (excluding currency impact, acquisitions/divestitures) growth is expected in the range of 5.6%-6.6% versus the prior expectation of 5.4%-6.4%.
Adjusted earnings per share guidance was raised from a range of $11.43-$11.63 to $11.45-$11.65 per share. On an operational, constant-currency basis, adjusted earnings per share are expected to increase in the range of 6.1%-8.1% versus the prior expectation of 5.9%-7.9%.
Our Take on JNJ’s Q1 Results
Johnson & Johnson kicked off the first-quarter earnings season for the drug and biotech sector with earnings and revenue beats, signaling solid underlying demand across its portfolio. Sales of key therapies — including Darzalex, Tremfya and Erleada — surpassed expectations, while the MedTech segment also delivered better-than-anticipated growth.
Despite Stelara's LOE, the Innovative Medicines unit once again outperformed estimates, driven primarily by strong momentum in oncology. Newer therapies and recent launches made a meaningful contribution to overall sales growth, helping offset biosimilar pressure. Encouraged by the strong start to the year, J&J modestly raised its 2026 financial guidance, signaling confidence in sustained growth across both its Innovative Medicine and MedTech businesses. The company also announced a 3.1% increase in its quarterly dividend to $1.34 per share, up from $1.30.
However, despite the robust quarterly performance and improved outlook, J&J’s shares were down slightly in pre-market trading on Tuesday. This was probably due to a much steeper decline in Stelara’s sales than expected.
In the past year, J&J’s stock has risen 54.1% compared with an increase of 21.5% for the industry.
