Shares of Nektar Therapeutics NKTR have rallied 38.2% in the past week due to growing investor optimism related to the company’s lead pipeline candidate, rezpegaldesleukin (rezpeg), which is being developed as a self-administered injection for several autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
Two separate phase IIb studies are currently evaluating rezpeg for treating atopic dermatitis (also known as eczema) and alopecia areata.
Here’s Why NKTR Was Up This Past Week
Nektar’s price rose after French drugmaker Sanofi SNY announced data from the phase III COAST 1 study evaluating its pipeline candidate, amlitelimab, for treating moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis in patients aged 12 years and above last week.
Despite amlitelimab meeting all primary and key secondary endpoints in the COAST 1 study, shares of SNY tanked as the data seemed to fall short of investors' expectations.
A Bloomberg article mentioned that some analysts felt that amlitelimab was less effective than Sanofi and partner Regeneron’s REGN blockbuster drug Dupixent, which is approved for several types of inflammatory diseases, including moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis.
While Sanofi records global net product sales of Dupixent, Regeneron records its share of profit in connection with the global sales of the drug.
Year to date, shares of Nektar have surged 188.1% compared with the industry’s rise of 14.1%.

NKTR’s Atopic Dermatitis Data on Rezpeg
In June 2025, NKTR announced that the phase IIb REZOLVE-AD study evaluating rezpeg in patients with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis met its primary and key secondary endpoints.
Back then, management had stated that the rapid reduction in EASI scores and significant itch improvement highlight the potential of rezpeg to become a first- and best-in-class immune-modulator for the treatment of inflammatory skin disorders, such as atopic dermatitis and other autoimmune conditions.
Unlike amlitelimab, which is an anti-OX40L mAb, rezpeg is designed with a different mechanism. Rezpeg selectively activates regulatory T-cells (Tregs) to calm the immune system and reduce inflammation.
Although rezpeg is currently in phase II development for atopic dermatitis and is still some years away from commercialization, investors remain optimistic regarding the candidate’s long-term potential, given the weaker-than-expected data for SNY’s amlitelimab. However, rezpeg’s long-term efficacy is yet to be determined.
Markets are also speculating that rezpeg may hold a better commercial future than SNY’s amlitelimab, given the success rezpeg had in a mid-stage study in atopic dermatitis. It remains to be seen how the candidate performs once it enters phase III development, the final phase before a potential nod from the FDA. The company expects to advance rezpeg into phase III development in the first half of 2026.
NKTR Also Studying Rezpeg for Alopecia Areata
Besides atopic dermatitis, the company is also investigating rezpeg in the phase IIb REZOLVE-AA study for treating patients with severe-to-very severe alopecia areata. Top-line data from the same is expected in December 2025.
The FDA has already granted a Fast Track designation to rezpeg for the treatment of severe-to-very severe alopecia areata as well as for the treatment of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis.
Nektar regained full rights to rezpeg from pharma giant Eli Lilly LLY in April 2023 and took charge of its clinical development. Rezpeg was earlier developed in collaboration with Lilly for several autoimmune indications.
Rezpeg is now a wholly owned asset of Nektar, and the company owes no royalty payments to LLY.

NKTR Shares Surge 38.2% in a Week: Here's What You Should Know

Merck MRK is thriving on new products and pipeline candidates to drive its long-term growth. The company has built a substantial portfolio of new pipeline candidates and has made meaningful regulatory and clinical progress across areas like oncology, vaccines and infectious diseases while executing strategic business moves.
MRK’s phase III pipeline has almost tripled since 2021, supported by in-house pipeline progress as well as the addition of candidates through various merger and acquisition deals. This has positioned Merck to launch around 20 new vaccines and drugs over the next few years, with many having blockbuster potential.
Promising candidates in late-stage development include enlicitide decanoate/MK-0616, an oral PCSK9 inhibitor for hypercholesterolemia, tulisokibart, a TL1A inhibitor for ulcerative colitis, bomedemstat/MK-3543 for essential thrombocythemia, myelofibrosis and polycythemia vera, and Daiichi-Sankyo-partnered antibody-drug conjugates.
Yesterday, Merck reported positive top-line data from the pivotal phase III CORALreef Lipids study, which evaluated the safety and efficacy of enlicitide decanoate for treating adult patients with hypercholesterolemia who are on a moderate or high intensity statin (or with documented statin intolerance). The study met all the primary and key secondary endpoints.
Data from the CORALreef Lipids study showed that treatment with enlicitide decanoate led to statistically significant and clinically meaningful reduction in low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) or “bad cholesterol” versus placebo at week 24.
Treatment with enlicitide decanoate also led to statistically and clinically significant reductions across all key secondary endpoints including in non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, apolipoprotein B and lipoprotein(a) versus placebo.
Merck is also evaluating enlicitide decanoate in separate studies — the phase III CORALreef HeFH and the phase III CORALreef AddOn — for treating adults with hyperlipidemia already on lipid-lowering therapies, including at least a statin.
If successfully developed and upon potential approval, enlicitide decanoate would be the first marketed oral PCSK9 inhibitor for the given indication. Management believes that the therapy can potentially change the treatment paradigm for managing LDL levels.
MRK’s Potential Competition in the Target Market
Competition in the cholesterol management market has intensified with the introduction of PCSK9 inhibitors. Some notable PCSK9 inhibitors currently available in the cholesterol management market are Amgen’s Repatha and Regeneron REGN/Sanofi’s SNY Praluent.
AstraZeneca AZN is developing an oral, small-molecule PCSK9 inhibitor, AZD0780, for treating patients with elevated LDL-C levels, which cannot be controlled by statins alone.
Data from recent mid-stage studies have shown that AZN’s AZD0780 is well-tolerated and can significantly reduce LDL-C with a favorable safety profile.
Regeneron records net product sales of Praluent in the United States, and Sanofi does the same outside the country. The REGN/SNY drug generated sales worth $415.3 million in the first half of 2025.
MRK's Eyes New Drug Approvals for Long-Term Value
Merck is pinning hopes on new drug approvals for driving its long-term growth trajectory, especially when its blockbuster PD-L1 inhibitor, Keytruda, loses exclusivity in 2028. The company’s new 21-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, Capvaxive, and pulmonary arterial hypertension drug, Winrevair, have the potential to generate significant long-term revenues. Both products have witnessed a strong launch so far.
Merck’s respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) antibody, Enflonsia (clesrovimab), was approved in the United States in June 2025, while it is under review in the EU. Merck is currently gearing up for the successful launch of Enflonsia to help protect infants entering their first RSV season.
A fixed-dose combination of doravirine and islatravir for the treatment of HIV is also under review in the United States, with an FDA decision expected in April next year.
MRK's Price Performance, Valuation and Estimates
Year to date, shares of Merck have lost 14.1% compared with the industry’s decrease of 0.5%.

MRK Posts Cholesterol Drug Data, Focus Shifts Back to Its Pipeline

Sanofi SNY announced that the FDA has approved Wayrilz (rilzabrutinib), a novel BTK inhibitor, for the treatment of persistent or chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) in adult patients who have had an insufficient response to a previous treatment.
Following the nod, Wayrilz became the first BTK inhibitor to be approved for treating ITP in the United States.
The latest FDA approval was based on data from the phase III LUNA 3 study, which showed that treatment with Wayrilz led to a positive impact on sustained platelet counts and other ITP symptoms, thus meeting both the primary and secondary endpoints.
Per management, Wayrilz works by modulating multiple immune pathways, helping to treat ITP at its root cause. Also, its selective BTK approach may be safer than the currently available drugs.
Patients prescribed Wayrilz will have access to Sanofi’s HemAssist program, which provides support across all treatments in the company’s portfolio of rare blood disorders.
Wayrilz is currently under review in the EU and China as a potential treatment for ITP. The drug was recently approved for treating adult patients with persistent or chronic ITP in the United Arab Emirates.

Shares of Sanofi have risen 2.6% so far this year against the industry’s decline of 0.6%.

SNY Developing Wayrilz for Autoimmune Disorders
Besides ITP, Wayrilz is also being developed for treating several other rare diseases in the United States, the EU and other countries.
A phase II study is evaluating Wayrilz for treating IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD), a chronic, immune-mediated rare condition that can affect multiple organs, causing inflammation, swelling and fibrosis.
The FDA and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) have granted orphan drug designation to Wayrilz for the treatment of IgG4-RD.
The FDA had previously granted orphan drug designation to Wayrilz for warm autoimmune hemolytic anemia (wAIHA) and sickle cell disease (SCD). Wayrilz is being developed in a mid-stage study for treating wAIHA, while it is yet to enter clinical development for SCD.
Wayrilz was added to Sanofi’s pipeline with the acquisition of Principia Biopharma in 2020.

Sanofi Gets FDA Nod for Wayrilz in Immune Thrombocytopenia

Biotech giant Regeneron’s (REGN) performance has been pretty ho-hum in the year so far. While Eylea sales continue to be under pressure, affecting the top line, the company finally managed to post revenue growth in the second quarter, giving anxious investors some relief.
Eylea’s dismal performance in an increasingly competitive environment has dampened investors’ sentiment of late. Pipeline setbacks have also hurt the share price. Nonetheless, the progress with the oncology portfolio is encouraging.
REGN’s Eylea HD Sales Gain as Eylea Declines
Lead drug Eylea is an anti-vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitor approved for various ophthalmology indications. Eylea sales have boosted the company’s top line for many years. However, Eylea’s sales have been under pressure for the past couple of years due to competition from Roche’s (RHHBY) Vabysmo.
The uptake of Roche’s Vabysmo has been phenomenal. Roche has designed Vabysmo to block pathways involving Ang-2 and VEGF-A.
Biosimilar competition for Eylea is also worrisome. Since Eylea accounts for a majority of REGN’s sales, a rapid decline in sales has adversely impacted the company’s top line.
To counter the decline in Eylea sales, Regeneron has developed a higher dose of the drug. Eylea HD sales in the United States surged 29% in the second quarter due to higher sales volumes driven by increased demand.
However, Regeneron expects regulatory approvals to be delayed for its currently pending FDA applications for Eylea HD (pre-filled syringe, every-four-week dosing, and for the treatment of macular edema following retinal vein occlusion), which have target action dates in August 2025. The anticipated delay is related to observations from an FDA general site inspection at the filler for Eylea HD in these regulatory applications, Catalent Indiana LLC (which was recently acquired by Novo Nordisk).
Regeneron has a collaboration agreement with Bayer (BAYRY) for Eylea. Regeneron records the net product sales of Eylea and Eylea HD in the United States, and Bayer records its net product sales outside the country. Regeneron records its share of profits in connection with Eylea’s sales outside the United States.
Dupixent Profits Boost REGN’s Top Line
REGN’s top line also comprises its share of profits/losses in connection with the global sales of Dupixent. Partner Sanofi (SNY) records global net product sales of Dupixent.
Solid sales of Dupixent (approved for use in certain patients with atopic dermatitis, asthma, chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis and eosinophilic esophagitis) have fueled the top line for Sanofi and Regeneron.
SNY and REGN are working to expand the drug’s label further. The FDA had earlier approved Dupixent for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The approved indication is an add-on maintenance treatment for adults with inadequately controlled COPD and an eosinophilic phenotype.
In April 2025, Dupixent’s label was further expanded for the treatment of adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older with chronic spontaneous urticaria who remain symptomatic despite antihistamine treatment. The FDA recently approved Dupixent for the treatment of adult patients with bullous pemphigoid. Regulatory applications are under review in the European Union (EU) and Japan.
Strong demand trends and consistent label expansion should fuel Dupixent sales.
REGN Broadens Oncology Portfolio
REGN is looking to expand its oncology franchise, which comprises Libtayo (cemiplimab-rwlc), indicated in certain patients with advanced basal cell carcinoma, advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
Libtayo sales totaled $561.3 in the first half of 2025, up 18% year over year. Regeneron records global net product sales of Libtayo and pays Sanofi a royalty on such sales.
The FDA accepted for priority review a supplemental biologics license application (sBLA) for Libtayo (cemiplimab) in adjuvant cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, with a target action date in October 2025.
REGN’s oncology franchise received a boost with the recent FDA approval of linvoseltamab-gcpt for the treatment of relapsed or refractory (R/R) multiple myeloma (MM). The regulatory body granted accelerated approval to linvoseltamab under the brand name Lynozyfic. Lynozyfic is also approved in the EU to treat adults with R/R MM after at least three prior therapies, including a proteasome inhibitor, an immunomodulatory agent and an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody.
The approval of Ordspono (odronextamab) for treating adult patients with R/R follicular lymphoma or R/R diffuse large B-cell lymphoma after two or more lines of systemic therapy has strengthened its oncology franchise.
However, the company’s efforts to get odronextamab approved in the United States suffered a setback. The FDA recently issued a complete response letter for the BLA for odronextamab. The BLA was impacted by the Catalent Indiana LLC site inspection.
Road Ahead for REGN: Final Thoughts
REGN’s progress with the oncology portfolio should enable the company’s focus on diversification of top-line growth. Libtayo has put up a good show and a potential label expansion in adjuvant CSCC should boost growth.
Consistent label expansions of Dupixent continues to fuel its sales and help REGN earn higher profits.
Eylea HD sales have gained traction, thereby offsetting the impact of decline in Eylea Sales. However, Eylea was the top revenue generator for REGN and a decline in its sales has adversely impacted the momentum.
Pipeline setbacks are worrisome as well. The stock got hammered at the end of May after REGN and partner Sanofi reported mixed results from two late-stage studies, AERIFY-1 and AERIFY-2, on itepekimab for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. While the AERIFY-1 study met the primary endpoint, AERIFY-2 failed to do so.

Can Eylea HD and Dupixent Profits Revive Regeneron Stock?

Sanofi SNY announced that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has granted orphan drug designation to its investigational BTK inhibitor, rilzabrutinib, for treating IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD).
IgG4-RD is a chronic, immune-mediated rare condition that can affect multiple organs, causing inflammation, swelling and fibrosis.
The EMA grants this designation to support the development of medicines for rare disorders that affect not more than 5 in 10,000 patients in the EU.
Rilzabrutinib is currently being evaluated in a phase II study for IgG4-RD. Data from the same showed that treatment with rilzabrutinib for 52 weeks led to a reduction in disease flare, other disease markers and glucocorticoid sparing in the given patient population.
The FDA recently granted an orphan drug designation to rilzabrutinib for treating IgG4-RD.
Besides IgG4-RD, rilzabrutinib is also being developed for treating several other rare diseases in the United States, the EU and other countries.
SNY's Rilzabrutinib Under Review in the U.S. for ITP
Sanofi has developed rilzabrutinib for treating immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), a rare autoimmune disorder. The candidate already enjoys orphan drug designation for the ITP indication in the United States, the EU and Japan.
A regulatory application seeking approval for rilzabrutinib for treating ITP is currently under review in the United States. A final decision from the FDA is expected on Aug. 29, 2025. The regulatory body previously granted a fast-track designation to rilzabrutinib for treating ITP in the United States.
Besides the United States, rilzabrutinib is also under review in the EU and China as a potential treatment for ITP.

SNY's Competition in the Target Market
Upon potential approval, rilzabrutinib will likely face competition from existing approved therapies in the target market.
Rigel Pharmaceuticals RIGL currently markets Tavalisse (fostamatinib) for the treatment of thrombocytopenia in adult patients with chronic ITP who have had an insufficient response to a previous treatment.
In the first six months of 2025, RIGL recorded $68.5 million in Tavalisse sales, up 44% on a year-over-year basis.
Meanwhile, the FDA approved Amgen’s AMGN Uplizna (inebilizumab) for treating adults with IgG4-RD in April 2025. Following the nod, Uplizna became the first and only drug approved by the FDA for the treatment of IgG4-RD.
Uplizna was added to Amgen’s portfolio following the acquisition of Horizon Therapeutics in 2023. Uplizna is also approved in the United States for treating adults with a rare autoimmune disease called neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder.

Here's a closer look at three growth stocks you could buy and hold for decades as a means of supercharging your portfolio's growth. While each of these tickers brings some added risk and volatility to the table that will require regular monitoring, their long-term upside potential is arguably worth the work.
Recursion Pharmaceuticals
While artificial intelligence (AI) still has of room for improvement, the writing is on the wall -- the technology will be tackling complex problems that individuals and institutions just can't. This includes designing and testing pharmaceuticals.
Well, the future is here. Recursion Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: RXRX) has built an AI-powered platform capable of virtually testing a drug rather than requiring a full-blown clinical trial of an idea. Leveraging 36 petabytes (36 million gigabytes) of digital biological and chemical data, its so-called Recursion OS can accomplish what would normally take years and millions of dollars in a matter of days at a fraction of the cost.
And it's no mere theory. The technology is not only functioning -- it's commercialized. A handful of pharma companies including Roche and Sanofi are using Recursion OS to tackle some of their own developmental work, while Recursion is working on some drugs of its own. All of these drug candidates will still need to go through the actual clinical trial process to satisfy regulatory agencies like the FDA. Recursion's software facilitates focus though, by virtue of weeding out less promising drug prospects so more resources can be devoted to more promising ones. That's huge.
It's still relatively early for Recursion, and for that matter, the AI-assisted drug-development industry itself. Recursion Pharmaceuticals remains in the red, and will likely remain there for at least a few more years. This arguably makes Recursion the riskiest of the three stocks being put under the microscope here.
Just understand the potential reward is commensurate with the risk. Recursion Pharmaceuticals is nearing a revenue and profit turning point in front of what Straits Research believes will be average annualized growth of nearly 32% for the artificial intelligence drug-development industry through 2030. This tailwind alone should be enough to push Recursion to profitability. That makes this stock's prolonged and persistent weakness since peaking in 2021 is a fantastic buying opportunity.
Shopify
Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) is in no immediate danger of being dethroned as the king of North America's e-commerce scene. But it's no longer able to simply bully the rest of the industry. Competitors are successfully pushing back... just not in the way you might have expected. Rather than one or two rival names making inroads, brands and merchants are taking matters into their own hands by setting up their own online stores as a means of working all the way around Amazon's domination.
And they've largely got Shopify (NASDAQ: SHOP) to thank for the option.
In simplest terms, Shopify helps companies establish their own in-house e-commerce presence. From websites to payment-processing to inventory-management to marketing, Shopify can do it all, making it easy for businesses of all sizes to stay focused on more important matters (like running that business). Although the company no longer discloses how many clients are using its technology, it does divulge the scope of its business. Last year, Shopify's solutions facilitated the sale of $292.3 billion worth of goods and services, up 24% year over year to extend a long-established growth streak. Shopify collected $8.9 billion worth of revenue for itself in the process, turning a little over $1 billion of it into net income.
This growth still only scratches the surface of the opportunity though. Market research outfit eMarketer reports that only a little more than one-fifth of the world's retail spending is currently done online. The rest is still taking place in brick-and-mortar stores.
While certainly some of these sales will never move online, much of it can. Brand-owned and merchant-managed online stores are positioned to capture more than their fair share of whatever growth awaits the e-commerce industry, however, as these players increasingly see the value in establishing their own direct relationships with customers. In this vein, analysts expect Shopify to produce top-line growth in the ballpark of 20% in each of the three years ahead.
Nio
Finally, add Nio (NYSE: NIO) to your list of stocks to buy and hold for decades if you want a shot at building a bigger retirement nest egg.
It wouldn't be surprising if you'd never heard of it. Although it's finding a bit of traction in Europe, the Chinese maker of electric vehicles predominantly serves China itself. It delivered 72,056 electrified cars during the second quarter of this year, up nearly 26% from the year-ago comparison, underscoring production growth that's been in place for some time now.
Think the electric vehicle (EV) market is hitting a wall due to disinterest? Not so fast. That's largely an American phenomenon. Data gathered by CleanTechnica indicates sales of electric vehicles in China soared 25% to 1.1 million units last month, accounting for more than half of the country's entire automobile sales.
That's still just the beginning though. The International Energy Agency expected EVs to account for 80% of China's total car sales by 2030, thanks to supportive policies that encourage the alternative to combustion-powered vehicles. It's making inroads in Europe as well, for the same reason. And, while there's little incentive for the company to make a push into the United States' anemic EV market right now, if and when domestic interest perks up, Nio has maintained tentative plans for that possibility.
It could be a while before Nio works its way out of the red and into the black -- it simply needs more scale. This could make the stock a little less than completely comfortable to own in the interim.
It's making clear progress on the production as well as the profitability front though, and will almost certainly get there sooner or later, and likely sooner. Given how inevitable this outcome now seems, the market's apt to reward the progress en route to fiscal viability.

(RTTNews) - Sanofi has entered into an agreement to acquire Vicebio, a privately held biotechnology company headquartered in London, UK. Sanofi would acquire all of Vicebio's share capital for a total upfront payment of $1.15 billion, with potential milestone payments of up to $450 million based on development and regulatory achievements. Sanofi said the acquisition will not have a significant impact on financial guidance for 2025.
The company said the acquisition brings an early-stage combination vaccine candidate for respiratory syncytial virus and human metapneumovirus, and expands the capabilities in vaccine design and development with Vicebio's Molecular Clamp technology.
"Vicebio's 'Molecular Clamp' technology introduces a purposefully simple but thoughtful approach to further improve vaccine designs at a time when respiratory viral infections continue to impact millions globally", said Jean-François Toussaint, Global Head of Research and Development Vaccines at Sanofi.

Sanofi To Acquire Vicebio

Shares of Kymera KYMR have surged 70.7% in the past three months compared with the industry’s gain of 9.7%. The stock has also outperformed the sector and the S&P 500 index during this timeframe.
This clinical-stage biotechnology company is pioneering the field of targeted protein degradation (TPD) to develop drugs for various immunological diseases.

While the recent update in its deal with pharma giant Sanofi SNY caused a setback, investors are impressed with its recent collaboration with biotech giant Gilead Sciences, Inc. GILD.
KYMR’s License Deal With GILD Impresses Investors
Kymera recently entered into an exclusive option and license agreement with GILD to accelerate the development and commercialization of a novel molecular glue degrader (MGD) program targeting cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) with broad oncology treatment potential, in breast cancer and other solid tumors.
Per the companies, CDK2-directed MGDs are a new type of drug designed to remove CDK2, a key contributor to tumor growth, rather than just inhibiting its function.
While traditional inhibitors of CDK2 prevent it from working but often interfere with similar proteins, leading to undesired side effects, MGDs have the potential to provide more precise, safe and effective treatments for cancers that rely on CDK2 activity by selectively removing this protein from cells.
Under the terms of the agreement, Kymera will receive an upfront payment of $85 million and potential option exercise payments. The total payments will range up to $750 million.
Kymera may also receive tiered royalties ranging from high single-digit to mid-teens on net product sales under the collaboration. While Kymera will lead all research activities for the CDK2 program, Gilead will have global rights to develop, manufacture and commercialize all products resulting from the collaboration if it exercises its option to exclusively license the program.
KYMR’s Deal With Sanofi
Kymera had collaborated with Sanofi for the development of drug candidates targeting IRAK4, including KT-474/SAR444656, outside the oncology and immuno-oncology fields.
However, Sanofi informed Kymera that it has selected KT-485/SAR447971, an oral, highly potent and selective development candidate targeting IRAK4 for immuno-inflammatory diseases, to advance into clinical studies.
The candidate was discovered by Kymera.
KT-485 is being prioritized for development under the companies’ existing IRAK4 collaboration following extensive preclinical work supporting its robust development potential. The candidate is expected to advance into early-stage testing next year.
Consequently, Sanofi has decided to let go of KT-474, which was being evaluated for the treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) and atopic dermatitis (AD) in two phase IIb dose-ranging studies.
Sanofi will not develop KT-474 any further. The company has also decided to exercise its participation election right for the IRAK4 target under the terms of the collaboration agreement. Per the agreement, Kymera achieved a $20 million milestone in the second quarter of 2025 (related to preclinical activities associated with KT-485).
Kymera is eligible to receive up to $975 million in potential clinical, regulatory, and commercial milestones related to KT-485, including an additional milestone upon the initiation of phase I clinical testing.
Our Take on Kymera’s Recent Performance
While the oncology deal with GILD looks promising and the subsequent influx of cash is positive, there is still a long way to go.
Sanofi's decision to advance preclinical IRAK4 degrader KT-485 rather than advancing KT-474 delayed milestone payments for Kymera that could have been achieved on the potential approval of KT-474, which had moved to phase IIb studies in late 2023.
Nonetheless, Kymera’s novel TPD approach is promising, and the pipeline progress is encouraging. In April, Kymera initiated dosing in the KT-621 BroADen phase Ib study in moderate to severe atopic dermatitis (AD) patients. Kymera plans to begin two parallel phase IIb studies in AD and asthma patients in the fourth quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, respectively.
Kymera named KT-579, an oral IRF5 degrader, as its lead development candidate and intends to advance the program into phase I testing in early 2026. IND-enabling studies are ongoing.

Kymera Surges 70% in 3 Months: Buy, Sell or Hold the Stock?

Shares of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. REGN have lost 22.6% year to date against the industry’s growth of 0.6%. The stock has underperformed the medical sector and S&P 500 Index in this timeframe.
A decline in lead drug Eylea sales has adversely impacted top-line growth.

While the company is making efforts to diversify its revenue base and develop its oncology franchise, Eylea’s dismal performance in an increasingly competitive environment has dampened investors’ sentiment.
Pipeline setbacks have also hurt the share price of late.
Eylea’s Sales Decline Hampers REGN Ophthalmology Unit
Lead drug Eylea is an anti-vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitor approved for various ophthalmology indications. Eylea sales have boosted the company’s top line for many years. However, Eylea’s sales have been under pressure in the past couple of years due to competition from Roche’s RHHBY Vabysmo.
The uptake of Roche’s Vabysmo has been phenomenal. Roche has designed Vabysmo to block pathways involving Ang-2 and VEGF-A.
Biosimilar competition for Eylea is also worrisome. Since Eylea accounts for a majority of REGN’s sales, a rapid decline in sales has adversely impacted the company’s top line.
To counter the decline in Eylea sales, Regeneron has developed a higher dose of the drug. While the initial uptake of Eylea HD was encouraging as Eylea patients transitioned to the higher dose, it will take Eylea HD quite some time to offset the rapid erosion in Eylea sales.
In April 2025, the FDA accepted for priority review a supplemental biologics license application (sBLA) seeking approval of Eylea HD for both the treatment of macular edema following retinal vein occlusion (RVO) and broadening the dosing schedule to include every 4-week (monthly) dosing across approved indications. The FDA has set a target action date of Aug. 19, 2025.
However, the regulatory body issued a complete response letter (“CRL”) for the pre-filled syringe of Eylea HD. Per the company, the key outstanding issue relates to a question posed by the FDA to a third-party component supplier. This component supplier has expeditiously responded to FDA requests for information.
The FDA also issued a CRL regarding the sBLA for the addition of extended dosing intervals. The FDA indicated that the submitted data did not support extended dosing intervals greater than every 16 weeks.
Regeneron has a collaboration agreement with Bayer BAYRY for Eylea. Regeneron records the net product sales of Eylea and Eylea HD in the United States, and Bayer records its net product sales outside the country. Regeneron records its share of profits in connection with Eylea’s sales outside the United States.
Dupixent Boosts REGN’s Top Line
REGN’s top line also comprises its share of profits/losses in connection with the global sales of Dupixent. Partner Sanofi SNY records global net product sales of Dupixent.
Solid sales of Dupixent (approved for use in certain patients with atopic dermatitis, asthma, chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis and eosinophilic esophagitis) have fueled the top line for Sanofi and Regeneron.
SNY and REGN are working to expand the drug’s label further. The FDA had earlier approved Dupixent for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The approved indication is an add-on maintenance treatment for adults with inadequately controlled COPD and an eosinophilic phenotype.
In April 2025, Dupixent’s label was further expanded for the treatment of adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older with chronic spontaneous urticaria who remain symptomatic despite antihistamine treatment. The FDA recently approved Dupixent for the treatment of adult patients with bullous pemphigoid.
Strong demand trends and consistent label expansion should fuel Dupixent sales.
REGN’s Focus on Oncology
The company also has other arrows in its quiver. It is looking to strengthen its oncology franchise, which comprises Libtayo (cemiplimab-rwlc), indicated in certain patients with advanced basal cell carcinoma, advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
REGN’s oncology franchise received a boost with the EC’s approval of odronextamab for treating adult patients with relapsed or refractory (R/R) follicular lymphoma (FL) or R/R diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) after two or more lines of systemic therapy. The drug has been approved under the brand name Ordspono.
However, the company’s efforts to get odronextamab approved in the United States suffered a setback. The regulatory body issued CRLs for its biologics license application (BLA) for odronextamab in March 2024.
The FDA accepted for review the resubmission of the BLA for odronextamab with a target action date of July 30, 2025.
Regeneron recently obtained FDA approval of linvoseltamab-gcpt for the treatment of R/R multiple myeloma (MM). The regulatory body granted accelerated approval to linvoseltamab under the brand name Lynozyfic.
Lynozyfic is also approved in the European Union to treat adults with R/R MM after at least three prior therapies, including a proteasome inhibitor, an immunomodulatory agent and an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody.
The successful development of these oncology drugs should be a great boost for REGN.
REGN Looking to Build an Obesity Franchise
Regeneron is looking to make inroads in the lucrative obesity market.
The company recently entered into an in-licensing agreement for an obesity drug with Hansoh Pharmaceuticals Group Company Limited, in a bid to expand its clinical-stage obesity portfolio.
The licensing agreement with Hansoh Pharma provides Regeneron with HS-20094, a GLP-1/GIP receptor agonist.
Regeneron will acquire exclusive clinical development and commercial rights for HS-20094, a dual GLP-1/GIP receptor agonist, outside the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Macau.
The in-licensing agreement for an obesity candidate will expand REGN’s obesity pipeline, which includes trevogrumab.
The successful development of any obesity treatment will be a great boost for the company.
REGN: Valuation & Estimates
Going by the price/earnings ratio, REGN is expensive at this moment. Shares currently trade at 18.27X forward earnings, slightly lower than its mean of 18.85X but higher than the large-cap pharma industry’s value of 15.04X.

The bottom-line estimate for 2025 has dropped 57 cents to $36.15 over the past 60 days and the same for 2026 has decreased $1.49.

Final Thoughts on Regeneron
Large biotech companies are considered safe havens for investors interested in this sector.
However, Regeneron is sailing in troubled waters as of now and has a tough road ahead, as it will take a long time for Eylea HD to replace Eylea sales.
The stock got hammered at the end of May after REGN and partner Sanofi reported mixed results from two late-stage studies, AERIFY-1 and AERIFY-2, on itepekimab for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
While the AERIFY-1 study met the primary endpoint, AERIFY-2 did not meet the same.
We believe that the near-term pipeline setbacks and challenges with Eylea weigh on the stock for now. We would advise prospective investors to be on the sidelines for the time being. For investors already owning the stock, selling it at current levels would be prudent.

Regeneron Stock Plunges 22.6% YTD: Should You Buy, Sell or Hold?

(RTTNews) - Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (TMO), Wednesday announced the decision to acquire Sanofi's steriles manufacturing site in Ridgefield, New Jersey. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition of the state-of-the-art sterile fill-finish and packaging facility is expected to strengthen Thermo Fisher's U.S. manufacturing capabilities, enabling it to better support its pharmaceutical and biotech customers.
Upon completion of the transaction, the facility will become part of Thermo Fisher's pharma services business within its Laboratory Products and Biopharma Services segment.
The transaction is expected to be completed in the second half of 2025.
In the pre-market hours, TMO is trading at $418.11, up 0.07 percent on the New York Stock Exchange.
