Ex-Dividend Reminder: Robert Half, CRA International and Xylem

Even at All-Time Highs, Analysts Say 80% of the Market Is a Buy!

So let's sift through the Holds and the Sells. Today we'll sort through a four-pack yielding between 7.9% and 20.6%. We begin with a pair of real estate investment trusts (REITs), which are known for paying "really high" dividends.
National Storage Affiliates Trust (NSA, 7.9% yield) is a self-storage REIT with 1,069 properties across 37 states and Puerto Rico. This is a recession-resistant industry. During boom times, people purchase--and stash--stuff. In downtimes, they downsize and need an extra place to stash that Crate & Barrel couch.
Self-storage stocks do weather booms and busts, however. The flow of "stuff" is not constant. Currently, NSA is dealing with a 20% pullback:
After Optimism in 2024, NSA Shares Have Slumped 20% in 2025
NSA reported numerous issues in its most recent quarter, including lower earnings, core FFO, same store net operating income, and same store period-end occupancy. However, earnings from competitors like Public Storage (PSA) and Extra Space Storage (EXR) revealed similar issues, so this points to more of a challenging operating environment in the space than it does unique challenges for NSA, which historically has been a strong operator.
We discussed, but cautioned against, NSA as a hated stock earlier this year. And the situation, indeed, has deteriorated since then. Shares are down by 13%. The stock has picked up a few more Sell calls.
NSA's multiple is down to 13-times FFO. But payout coverage has tightened, too. The company expects to earn $2.20 per share at the midpoint, while NSA is on pace to pay out $2.28 in dividends.
Alexander's (ALX, 8.5% yield) is a landlord with five (count 'em, five) holdings. While technically an office REIT, its properties include retail and residential exposure, too. Needless to say, Alexander's is extraordinarily concentrated, with tenant Bloomberg accounting for 60% of revenues over the first nine months of 2025.
Also worth noting: Vornado Realty Trust (VNO) not only owns roughly a third of this Big Apple real estate group, but it also manages it. That means ALX owes it annual management fees and occasionally development fees. And over the last quarter, Alexander's entered an extension with Vornado on a $300 million loan encumbering 731 Lexington Ave., then failed to repay the loan by the extended maturity date in October. Now, Alexander's is in discussions with the lenders about a potential loan restructuring.
Despite its issues, the stock is sitting on double-digit total returns in 2025. That's better than the broader real estate sector, which is just over breakeven for the year.
But Wall Street still can't get behind ALX, and the reason why might have more to do with its dividend than anything else.
2023: ALX paid $18 in dividends against $15.80 in funds from operations (FFO, an important metric of REIT profitability)
2024: ALX paid $18 in dividends against $15.19 in FFO
2025: ALX has paid out $13.50 in dividends against $9.84 in FFO through three quarters.
Worse? That $9.84 in FFO is about 11% worse than at the same point last year, continuing a trend of declining funds from operations.
Post-COVID FFO Rebound Might Have Papered Over Alexander's Problems
That also points to a full valuation for ALX shares, which are trading at more than 16 times 2025's annualized FFO.
Robert Half (RHI, 9.0% yield) predominantly works in three areas: Contract Talent Solutions (placing temporary workers with companies), Permanent Placement Talent Solutions (helping companies recruit and land full-time workers) and Protiviti (consulting services for compliance, finance, HR, legal and more).
In short, its job is to put people into jobs. The problem? AI is coming for these jobs.
Robert Half wouldn't have popped up on most dividend radars at the start of 2025--but in less than a year, its yield has ballooned from 3% then to 9% now. We can thank a nosedive in RHI shares, which are down 80% since peaking in 2022 and off by about 60% year-to-date, prompting more Sell calls (3) and Holds (6) than Buys (2).
RHI's Stock Price and Dividend Are Sprinting Away From Each Other
But the reason I'm even taking a look at Robert Half is that it might not be the doomed AI victim it seems.
First off: RHI's fall started from a bubblicious peak. Remember: The post-COVID reopening set off a hiring spree that was so frenetic, several companies that have recently laid off employees claimed they overhired during that time. RHI shares were overcooked then and destined to fall amid the inevitable hiring moderation that followed.
This year? Hiring hasn't just slowed; ADP recently estimated that U.S. companies were ditching more than 11,000 jobs per week through late October.
How much of this is due to a stumbling economy and tariff tumult, and how much of this can be chalked up to AI? Robert Half, at least, seems to think the artificial intelligence narrative is extremely overplayed.
"There were big studies by Stanford, Harvard, and Yale," CEO Keith Waddell said during Robert Half's third-quarter earnings call. "Stanford says AI impact is for early career entry-level people, that more experienced roles remain stable. Harvard says generative AI is reducing entry-level hiring while increasing reliance on senior talent. Yale says the broader labor market has not experienced any discernible disruption from generative AI. I guess my point would be as to impact to labor overall, impact to, for us, accounting and finance talent overall, we've seen very little impact."
Robert Half is still facing significant issues regardless. Q4 guidance came up short. The macro picture is still uncertain. Dividend coverage is suddenly a problem, too. The company's profits are expected to plunge by 45% this year, to $1.34 per share, before rebounding quite a bit to $1.79 per year. But aggressive growth in the dividend has brought the payout to 57 cents quarterly ($2.28 annually), which will outstrip earnings by quite a bit through at least the end of 2026, if estimates hold.
A sudden economic turn for the better could turn the 9%-yielding Robert Half into a turnaround monster. But Wall Street appears to be betting on the status quo.
It's hard to find many stocks yielding more than Cricut (CRCT, 20.6% yield), a craft-store heavyweight whose machines let users turn their ideas into professional-looking handmade goods such as T-shirts, mugs and interior decorations. But the company would also remind us it's a "creativity platform" with software that integrates its machines with design apps (including its own Cricut Joy App) and a pair of subscription plans.
Cricut first grabbed my attention in 2024. It had been paid a few special dividends before, but in July, it kicked off a new semiannual dividend program alongside another large special distribution. It stood out because while most companies unfurl new dividends when the bottom line is growing, CRCT did so while its profits were flagging.
This Isn't When We'd Expect a Company to Commit to Regular Dividends
The last time I checked on Cricut (in May 2025), the stock had announced an even bigger special dividend, yielded 15%, and analysts were pretty sour on it.
A few months--and a nearly 25% decline later--it yields north of 20% and the pros downright hate it. Every analyst covering the stock says we should ditch it.
I wouldn't tell that to Cricut's fervent and loyal user base. In fact, the company itself has said that word-of-mouth is one of its strongest drivers of new users. Meanwhile, tariffs haven't bitten as hard as expected, and the company is expected to expand its profits by more than 20% in 2025.
But even a great product doesn't guarantee continued growth, especially when that product belongs to a niche like crafting. Revenues are expected to remain flat if not shrink a bit over the next couple of years. 2026 profits are projected to fall off a cliff. And if soft job markets lead to a subdued holiday shopping season (historically Cricut's biggest quarter), the company could fall behind optimistic views for the full year.
Not to mention: The lion's share of CRCT's yield (about 16 points' worth!) hinges on special distributions that simply aren't guaranteed.

I just prefer to buy dividend stocks that aren't at risk of crumbling if Santa's bag comes in a little light.

4 Dividends up to 20% Wall Street Can't Stand

Aris Mining Corp. is cashing in on record gold prices as it ramps up gold production. This Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) is expected to see double digit earnings growth in 2026 after triple digit growth in 2025.
Aris Mining is a small cap gold mining company with a market cap of $2 billion. Founded in Sep 2022, it is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Its vision is to build a leading South America focused gold mining company.
Aris Mining currently operates two underground gold mines in Colombia: the Segovia Operations and the Marmato Complex which produced a total of 210,955 ounces of gold in 2024.
Expansion is underway and Aris Mining is targeting an annual production rate of more than 500,000 ounces of gold, following the commissioning of a second mill at Segovia, which is ramping up during H2 2025, and the Bulk Mining Zone at the Marmato Complex, expected to start ramping up production in H2 2026.
The company also owns 51% of the Soto Norte joint venture in Colombia and it owns the Toroparu gold/copper project in Guyana which is in a prefeasibility stage.
Aris Mining Reports a Record Third Quarter 2025
On Oct 29, 2025, Aris Mining reported its third quarter results, and it beat on the Zacks Consensus Estimate by $0.09. It reported $0.37 versus the Zacks Consensus of $0.27. That was record earnings.
Revenue was up 93% to a record $253.5 million from a year ago and was also up 24% quarter-over-quarter driven by higher gold prices and increased sales volumes.
The record gold price doesn’t matter much if the miner can’t get it out of the ground. Aris Mining’s gold production was up 25% to 73,236 oz from the second quarter due to the commissioning of the second mine at Segovia in June 2025.
Segovia had strong third quarter AISC margin growth up 39% to $121.5 million from $87.2 million in Q2.
Aris Mining Provides Strong Gold Production Guidance
Aris gave full year 2025 gold production guidance at Segovia, its flagship mine, between 210,000 to 250,000 oz. It is tracking for the midpoint of that guidance.
For 2026, it is targeting 300,000 oz.
Analysts are Bullish on Aris Mining for 2025 and 2026
Zacks has just 2 analysts for Aris Mining, but both have revised earnings estimates up for both 2025 and 2026 in the last 60 days.
The 2025 Zacks Consensus Estimate is now expected to be $1.23, which is earnings growth of 261% as the company made just $0.34 last year.
The good times are expected to continue in 2026 too with another 65.9% earnings growth on earnings of $2.04.
Shares of Aris Mining Soar on Record Gold Prices and Rising Production
Record gold prices and rising production are a bullish combination for a gold miner and Aris Mining has it.
Shares of Aris Mining are up 197% year-to-date and are near their all-time high.
But it’s still cheap. Aris trades with a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of just 8.4.
It also reduced net debt to just $64 million in the third quarter, down from $241 million at year end 2024.
Aris has plenty of cash on hand. It’s cash balance rose to $417.9 million from $310.2 million as of June 30, 2025.
If you want a junior miner that is increasing production, has strong free cash flow, and is still cheap, Aris Mining should be on your short list.

Robert Half Sees First Sequential Revenue Gain in Over 3 Years in Q3
On Oct 22, 2025, Robert Half reported third quarter 2025 results and met on the Zacks Consensus of $0.43. It was the second meet, or beat, in a row.
However, revenue fell year-over-year to $1.35 billion from $1.47 billion a year ago. Over the 9-month period, it’s fallen to $4.08 billion from $4.41 billion in 2024.
"Client and job seeker caution continued during the quarter, subduing hiring activity and new project starts," said M. Keith Waddell, CEO at Robert Half.
That said, the company was encouraged by weekly trends in contract talent revenue which began to grow sequentially in Sep and Oct.
Robert Half has guided for a return to sequential revenue growth in the fourth quarter of 2025 on a same-day constant currency basis for the first time since the second quarter of 2022.
It’s been a long period of revenue decline. Could this finally be a sign that the bottom is here?
Analysts Cut Estimates Again on Robert Half in 2025 and 2026
3 estimates were cut for both 2025 and 2026 in the last 30 days, with none being raised.
The analysts are looking for $1.33 in 2025, down from $1.39 in the last month. That is an earnings decline of 45.5% as the company made $2.44 last year.
However, in 2026, the analysts see a turnaround, even though they are still lowering estimates. The Zacks Consensus is looking for $1.85, up 38.9% year-over-year. That is down from $2.23 in the last month but at least it is looking for an earnings increase for the year.
Shares of Robert Half Near 5-Year Lows
It’s been tough being an investor in Robert Half the last few years. Shares are down another 62.4% year-to-date.
The stock isn’t that cheap. It trades with a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) of 19.8. A P/E under 15 is often considered to be a sign of value.
Robert Half is also shareholder friendly. It pays a dividend, currently yielding about 9%. This dividend is payable to shareholders of record on Nov 25, 2025, and will be paid on Dec 15, 2025.
A dividend of that size could be a warning sign on a stock. It is paying out $2.36 per share but is only expected to bring in $1.85 per share in earnings in 2026.
For investors looking for turnaround plays, they should keep Robert Half on their watch list but might want to wait for a bigger turnaround in earnings and sales.

Aris Mining and Robert Half have been highlighted as Zacks Bull and Bear of the Day

This morning a "Potential Dividend Run Alert" went out for Robert Half Inc (NYSE: RHI), at our DividendChannel.com Dividend Alerts service (a free email alerts feature). Let's look at the situation in greater detail, shall we?
First of all, what is a "Dividend Run" anyway? This is an interesting concept which we first learned about at a past ValueForum conference. And to best explain the concept, we need to start with the expected behavior of a stock on its ex-dividend date.
For anyone unfamiliar with the term, the ex-dividend date marks the trading day when any buyer of the stock is no longer entitled to the referenced dividend — in other words, to be eligible to receive the dividend in question, one would have had to purchase their shares before the ex-dividend date.
All else equal, the stock price would be expected to drop by the dividend amount on that ex-date (remember, that's "all else equal" and naturally other factors will drive stocks higher/lower on any given day). But think about it: if a buyer is entitled to a 0.59 dividend before ex-date, but no longer entitled to that amount on or after ex-date, then this drop makes perfect sense! Because if the shares didn't drop by that same 0.59 the next day, then effectively, buyers would effectively be paying 0.59 more for the same share of stock.
But now think about this: if a stock is expected to drop by the dividend amount (all else equal) on ex-date, then in turn, shouldn't that stock be expected to rise sometime ahead of a dividend? After all, if a dividend-paying stock didn't ever rise and only fell on each and every ex-date, then eventually after enough dividend payments those shares would have fallen to zero. And that wouldn't make any sense for a company continually earning money and paying dividends. So indeed, "sometime" before a given dividend, there should be sort of a built-in "pressure" for a stock to gradually rise in expectation of that next cash dividend... in other words: pressure for the stock to have a potential Dividend Run.
And notice we put the word "sometime" in quotes in that last sentence, because there are differing views among different dividend investors about timeframe when it comes to capturing Dividend Run effects. Some like to invest (and then also to sell) on specific target dates; others like to employ some form of dollar cost averaging. Some like to invest shortly before ex-div, hold for the dividend, and then sell on or after ex-date (having actually capturing the dividend / received the income). Others like to sell the day before ex-date (the last possible day where the buyer of the shares will still be "paying for" the upcoming dividend) with the idea to try and maximize capital gain. In this capital-gain-focused scenario, one common timeframe we've seen discussed, is to buy about two weeks (ten trading days) prior to the targeted sale date.
For example, consider the 0.59/share RHI dividend that went "ex-dividend" on 08/25/25. On the prior trading day — the last day where a seller knows that the buyer of their shares will be expecting that dividend amount — shares of RHI closed at 37.94. And two weeks (ten trading days) prior to that, on 08/08/25, shares closed at a price of 34.20. That means that in the final two-week run-up to the 0.59 dividend, RHI gained 3.74 in price.
Looking back at the last four dividends paid by RHI, this strategy would have captured a capital gain in excess of the dividend 3 out of 4 times, with a "Divvy Run" total of +4.59 in capital gains. Incidentally, that exceeds the sum total dividend amounts across those last four dividends, of 2.30. Here's the data:

Upcoming Dividend Run For RHI?

Robert Half International Inc. RHI reported third-quarter fiscal 2026 results, wherein earnings and revenues met the Zacks Consensus Estimate.
The stock failed to impress the market as it has barely moved since the earnings release on Oct. 22.
Quarterly earnings of 43 cents per share met the consensus mark but declined 32.8% year over year. Revenues of $1.35 billion came in line with the consensus mark but decreased 7.5% year over year.

The company’s shares have depreciated 58.5% in the year-to-date period compared with the Staffing Firms industry’s 34% decline and the 14.9% rise of the Zacks S&P 500 composite.
RHI’s Talent Solutions Revenues Down, Protiviti Up
Talent Solutions’ revenues of $856.35 million decreased 11% year over year on an as-adjusted basis and came in below our estimate of $914.2 million. U.S. Talent Solutions’ revenues were $649 million, down 11% year over year. Non-U.S. Talent Solutions revenues also declined 12% year over year on an adjusted basis to $207 million.
Protiviti revenues came in at $498 million, down 3% year over year on an as-adjusted basis but below our expectation of $503.1 million. The U.S. Protiviti revenues of $398 million decreased 6% year over year on an adjusted basis. Non-U.S. Protiviti revenues of $100 million were up 8% year over year on an as-adjusted basis.
Currency exchange rate movements during the third quarter increased year-over-year total revenues by $9 million and $6 million for both Talent Solutions and Protiviti. The quarter had 64.2 billing days compared with 64.1 billing days in the year-ago quarter.
RHI’s Margins Contract
The adjusted gross profit in the quarter was $514.65 million, down 10.9% year over year. The adjusted gross profit margin of 38.9% remained flat on a year-over-year basis.
RHI’s Key Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Figures
Robert Half ended the quarter with a cash and cash equivalent balance of $365.3 million compared with $570.47 million in the third quarter of 2024. Cash flow provided by operations during the quarter was $77 million and capital expenditures were $41.4 million. RHI paid out $59 million in dividends.
Robert Half’s Q4 and 2025 Guidance
For the fourth quarter of 2025, Robert Half expects revenues in the band of $1.245-$1.345 billion. The midpoint ($1.295 billion) of the guided range is just above the current Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.29 billion.
EPS is expected between 25 cents and 35 cents. The Zacks Consensus Estimate is currently pegged higher at 38 cents.
Moreover, the company anticipates 61.4 billing days compared with 61.6 billing days during the fourth quarter of 2024. Capital expenditures, including capitalized cloud computing costs, are projected to range between $15 million and $25 million during the same period.
For 2025, capital expenditures and capitalized cloud computing costs are expected to be $75 million to $90 million. The estimated full-year tax rate is projected between 30% and 34%.

Quarterly adjusted earnings per share (EPS) came in at 83 cents, which beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 1.2% but decreased 35.7% year over year. Total revenues of $4.63 billion surpassed the consensus estimate by 0.6% and rose 2.3% year over year.
