On May 5, 2025, Limbach reported its first quarter results and blew by the Zacks Consensus Estimate by $0.82, or 273.3%. Limbach posted earnings of $1.12 compared to the Zacks Consensus of just $0.30.

Limbach expects its ODR mix shift for the year to be between 70% and 80%.
ODR revenue growth is expected to be between 23% and 46% with total growth margins between 28% and 29%.

Analysts don’t see a turnaround in the business in 2025 with earnings falling for the third year as well. 1 estimate was cut in the last 60 days for 2025 which pushed the Zacks Consensus down to $1.78 from $2.02.
They do expected a rebound in 2026, with the Zacks Consensus rising back to $2.58.
Shares of Robert Half Sink to 5-Year Lows

They’re down 18.3% over the last 5 years compared to the S&P 500, which has gained 101% during that same time.

Is Nike's Margin Pressure a Temporary Setback or a Red Flag?
NIKE, Inc. has been grappling with sustained margin pressures for a while. Margins, a critical barometer of profitability, have been under strain for Nike, due to factors including aggressive discounting to clear excess inventory, rising product and logistics costs, elevated tariffs, currency volatility and changes in channel mix.
In third-quarter fiscal 2025, NKE’s gross profit fell 16% year over year, whereas gross margin contracted 330 basis points (bps) to 41.5%. The gross margin decline was caused by higher markdowns on Nike Direct, higher wholesale discounts, inventory obsolescence, elevated product costs and headwinds in channel mix.
Persistent margin pressures are expected to continue, as management had predicted the gross margin to decline nearly 400-500 bps in fourth-quarter fiscal 2025, inclusive of the prior-year restructuring charges and anticipated tariff impacts on imports from China and Mexico. Our model predicts gross margin contraction of 450 bps for the fiscal fourth quarter.
Nevertheless, management is confident that the fiscal fourth quarter is likely to reflect higher benefits from NKE’s Win Now strategy, with headwinds to revenues and margin likely to moderate thereafter. It continues to manage through external factors, ranging from geopolitical dynamics and tariffs to foreign exchange, tax policies and uncertainty to consumer confidence.
In addition, initiatives like full-price selling in digital channels, inventory liquidation, maintaining a full-price orderbook with the wholesale partners, easing tariff-cost pressures, supply-chain diversification, strategic pricing and forward-looking innovations might restore margins on the growth trajectory in the long haul.
How NKE’s Peers’ Margins Fare?
lululemon athletica inc. and adidas AG are the key companies competing with Nike.
lululemon is focused on driving margins through strategic pricing, innovations, supply-chain diversification and geographic expansion. The company is introducing modest price hikes on high-demand items and launching differentiated products to reinforce its brand. Contrary to Nike, lululemon has been witnessing improved margin trends for a while now, buoyed by improvement in product margin, supported by lower product costs, reduced damages and better markdowns.
These factors led to 60-bps gross margin expansion in first-quarter fiscal 2025 and 100 bps in the preceding quarter. Broad-based gains across channels, categories and key markets, particularly the United States, underscore continued strength and adaptability of its business model. Positive response to its product innovations, newness and brand activations further bolster its margins.
adidas is another sporting goods titan vying for a larger slice of the global sportswear industry. The company has implemented several margin-growth initiatives to boost profitability. These include cutting down on product and freight costs, optimizing product mix, streamlining operations and managing discounting.
These efforts have driven gross margin expansion of 0.9 percentage points in first-quarter 2025, backed by reduced product and freight costs and fewer markdowns. The year-over-year rise in adidas brand’s gross margin was even more pronounced, increasing 1.6 percentage points. adidas’ brand strength including a diversified product portfolio, along with a sharper focus on local consumer preferences and strengthened relationships with retail partners, will continue to serve as the catalysts for growth.
NKE’s Price Performance, Valuation and Estimates
Shares of Nike have lost 17.6% year to date compared with the industry’s decline of 18.1%.
From a valuation standpoint, NKE trades at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 31.28X compared with the industry’s average of 24.76X.
The Zacks Consensus Estimate for NKE’s fiscal 2025 and 2026 earnings implies a year-over-year plunge of 45.8% and 12.1%, respectively. The company’s EPS estimate for fiscal 2025 has been stable and that of fiscal 2026 has moved down in the past 30 days.

YieldBoost Robert Half To 19.2% Using Options

Money doesn't grow on trees, but there are ways to collect passive income from doing nothing. Some companies pass along a portion of profits to shareholders through dividends, which can be an excellent way to book a return without selling stock.
While the S&P 500 dividend yield is just 1.3%, some stocks have far higher yields either because they have steadily raised their payouts or their stock prices are down big, pushing up the yield.

United Parcel Service (NYSE: UPS), APA Corporation (NASDAQ: APA), and Robert Half (NYSE: RHI) are three dividend stocks whose yields have ballooned above 5% due to falling stock prices. Here's why all three companies are worth a closer look in May.
From bad to worse for UPS, but it should get better
Daniel Foelber (United Parcel Service): UPS is hovering around a five-year low. A big dividend raise in early 2022, paired with small raises since then and a falling stock price, has pushed the package delivery giant's yield to 6.8%. This yield is at an all-time high, but for all the wrong reasons.
When UPS raised its dividend by 49% in early 2022, it seemed reasonable given the surge in earnings per share (EPS) and free cash flow (FCF). But as you can see in the following chart, EPS and FCF have been declining for years, making the once reasonable dividend payment borderline unaffordable.

On recent earnings calls, management has reassured investors that the dividend is safe. However, UPS wants earnings to be double the dividend. There are only two ways to achieve that goal: grow earnings faster than the dividend or cut the payout.
First-quarter 2025 results didn't give investors a lot to smile about. Consolidated operating profit and diluted EPS were barely higher than Q1 2024, which is disappointing, considering the weak comps. UPS decided not to provide a full-year guidance update but did provide second-quarter guidance. In the upcoming quarter, UPS expects U.S. domestic average delivery volume to be down 9% and revenue to be down by low single digits from Q2 2024. Again, this is particularly bad given the weak comps from last year.
Despite all the challenges, UPS could still be worth buying for patient investors. Unlike some turnaround companies that are desperately losing market share and are unprofitable, UPS is still incredibly profitable. Its poor results stem from the overexpansion of its network to prepare for a sustained boom in delivery volumes. Instead, delivery volumes flatlined post-pandemic, leaving UPS overextended. In other words, these issues are solvable.
UPS still has plenty of long-term advantages and operating leverage. Profits are still slightly above pre-pandemic levels; they just look low because of how much they grew in 2020 and 2021.
UPS wouldn't be in dire straits if its dividend weren't such a high expense. But given where the dividend is, UPS is left with little wiggle room to navigate challenges. As my colleague Lee Samaha points out, UPS may be better off cutting its dividend so it can focus on its long-term growth plans, like high-margin deliveries, technology investments, and so forth.
Given the stock's slumping price, investors clearly aren't sticking around to hold the stock just for its high yield. A 50% cut would do wonders for the company's balance sheet and relieve some pressure so management can focus on turning the business around. And UPS would still yield a hefty 3.4% even if the dividend were cut in half, which is still more than many well-known dividend stocks with high yields, such as Coca-Cola.
All told, UPS stands out as a good choice for investors looking for a beaten-down value stock to buy in May.
There's more than one reason to power your portfolio with APA
Scott Levine (APA Corporation): While some niches of the market have shown resilience during this market downturn, the oil patch isn't one of them. With energy prices plummeting, investors have largely dismissed oil and gas stocks. But smart investors know that this shortsightedness can provide great buying opportunities.
Such is the case with APA Corporation -- an upstream energy company with assets in the United States, Egypt, and the United Kingdom -- whose stock currently offers an enticing 6.2% forward yield. Consistent with the strong correlation between movements in the price of oil and gas stocks, investors should find the fall in APA's stock unsurprising as it mirrors the decline in the price of oil benchmarks West Texas Intermediate and Brent.

Because energy stocks are cyclical, those with longer investing horizons can take advantage of downturns such as these. APA, in particular, is a worthy consideration, considering its judicious approach to the dividend. In 2024, for example, the company returned 71% of free cash flow to shareholders, while management projects allocating at least 60% of free cash for shareholders -- in the form of dividends and stock buybacks -- in 2025.
Adding to the stock's allure right now is that it's trading at a discount to its historic valuation. While APA stock's five-year average operating cash flow multiple is 2.7, shares are currently trading at only 1.4 times operating cash flow.
A cyclical stock with a 5.3% dividend yield
Lee Samaha (Robert Half): Buying into a human resource and recruitment company when the economy is weakening might seem like a recipe for disaster, but hear me out. There are two good reasons for buying the stock to earn passive income. The first is that Robert Half is a company with excellent cash-generating properties, and its dividend has long been very well covered, even in recessionary periods.

The second reason is that the economy's slowdown is caused by "heightened economic uncertainty over U.S. trade and other policy developments," according to CEO Keith Waddell on the recent earnings call. As such, "client and job seeker caution continues to elongate decision cycles and subdue hiring activity and new project starts."
But here's the thing: That uncertainty will reduce when there's greater clarity over the tariffs or trade deals, leading to a de-escalation in the conflict. Consequently, Robert Half will be ideally positioned to be one of the early beneficiaries of a release of delayed hiring plans.
All told, the stock's downside is protected by its dividend and cash flow, while there's upside potential from a de-escalation of trade disagreements. Meanwhile, investors will earn a 5.3% dividend yield.

3 Beaten-Down Dividend Stocks With Yields Over 5% to Buy in May for Passive Income

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) Thursday closed up +2.03%, the Dow Jones Industrials Index ($DOWI) (DIA) closed up by +1.23%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) closed up +2.79%. June E-mini S&P futures (ESM25) are up +2.05%, and June E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQM25) are up +2.80%.
Stock indexes rallied on Thursday, with the S&P 500 posting a 3-week high and the Nasdaq 100 posting a 2-week high. Strength in megacap technology stocks and chip makers boosted the broader market after Texas Instruments and Lam Research reported better-than-expected earnings results. Signs of a stable US labor market also support stocks after weekly initial unemployment claims rose as expected, and weekly continuing claims fell to a 10-week low. In addition, lower T-note yields are positive for stocks, with the 10-year T-note yield falling -7.6 bp to 4.305% after Cleveland Fed President Hammack said the Fed could cut rates in June if it has clear, convincing data and after Fed Governor Waller said he would support Fed rate cuts if tariffs led to job losses.

Stocks extended their gains Thursday when President Trump said his administration was talking with China on trade, despite China denying the existence of any negotiations. Trump said administration officials “had a meeting Thursday morning, and we’ve been meeting with China.”
Stock gains are limited by the concern that there will be no quick resolution to the China-US trade war. Treasury Secretary Bessent said President Trump hasn’t offered to take down US tariffs on China on a unilateral basis. Also, China’s Commerce Ministry said the US should revoke all unilateral tariffs and “show sincerity” if it wants to make a trade deal, and “any reports on development in trade talks are groundless.”
US weekly initial unemployment claims rose +6,000 to 222,000, right on expectations. Weekly continuing claims fell -37,000 to a 10-week low of 1.841 million, showing a stronger labor market than expectations of 1.869 million.
US March capital goods new orders nondefense ex-aircraft and parts rose +0.1% m/m, right on expectations.
The US Mar Chicago Fed national activity index fell -0.27 to -0.03, weaker than expectations of 0.12.
US Mar existing home sales fell -5.9% m/m to a 6-month low of 4.02 million, weaker than expectations of 4.13 million.
Dovish Fed comments Thursday were supportive of stock and bonds. Cleveland Fed President Hammack ruled out a Fed rate cut at that May 6-7 FOMC meeting but said, “If we have clear and convincing data by June, I think you’ll see the committee move if we know which is the right way to move at that point in time.” Also, Fed Governor Waller said, “If we see a significant drop in the labor market due to aggressive tariff levels, then I think it’s important that we step in” and lower interest rates.
The markets are discounting the chances at 8% for a -25 bp rate cut after the May 6-7 FOMC meeting.
This week’s market focus will be on Q1 corporate earnings results and any changes to US trade policies. Friday brings the revised University of Michigan April consumer sentiment index (expected no change at 50.8).
Q1 earnings reporting season is in full swing. According to data compiled by Bloomberg Intelligence, the market consensus is for Q1 year-over-year earnings growth of +6.7% for the S&P 500 stocks, down from expectations of +11.1% in early November. Full-year 2025 corporate profits for the S&P 500 are seen rising +9.4%, down from the forecast of +12.5% in early January.
Overseas stock markets on Thursday settled higher. The Euro Stoxx 50 closed up +0.32%. China’s Shanghai Composite rose to a 3-week high and closed up +0.03%. Japan’s Nikkei Stock 225 climbed to a 3-week high and closed up +0.49%.
Interest Rates
June 10-year T-notes (ZNM25) Thursday closed up +18 ticks. The 10-year T-note yield fell -7.6 bp to 4.305%. June T-notes on Thursday settled moderately higher due to carryover support from strength in European government bonds. T-notes also have carryover support from Wednesday when President Trump said he had no intention of firing Fed Chair Powell, easing concerns over the Fed’s independence, which could have sparked foreign selling of dollar assets, including Treasuries. T-notes extended their gains on dovish Fed comments after Cleveland Fed President Hammack said clear data could prompt the Fed to cut interest rates in June, and Fed Governo Waller said he would support Fed rate cuts if tariffs led to job losses.
Limiting gains in T-note prices Thursday was rising inflation expectations after the US 10-year breakeven inflation rate rose to a 3-week high of 2.317%. Also, weak demand for the Treasury’s $44 billion auction of 7-year T-notes was bearish as the auction had a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.55, weaker than the 10-auction average of 2.64.
European government bond yields Thursday moved lower. The 10-year German bund yield fell -4.9 bp to 2.448%. The 10-year UK gilt yield fell -5.2 bp to 4.500%.
Eurozone Mar new car registrations fell -0.2% y/y to 1.030 million units, the third consecutive monthly decline.
The German Apr IFO business confidence index unexpectedly rose +0.2 to a 9-month high of 86.9, stronger than expectations of a decline to 85.2.
ECB Governing Council member Rehn said the ECB would probably have to lower interest rates further and shouldn’t exclude a larger reduction than 25 bp.
Swaps are discounting the chances at 98% for a -25 bp rate cut by the ECB at the June 5 policy meeting.
US Stock Movers
Magnificent Seven stocks moved higher Thursday and supported gains in the broader market. Nvidia (NVDA), Amazon.com (AMZN), Tesla (TSLA), and Microsoft (MSFT) closed up more than +3%. Also, Meta Platforms (META) and Alphabet (GOOGL) closed up more than +2%, and Apple (AAPL) closed up more than +1%.
Chip stocks rallied sharply on Thursday due to some better-than-expected earnings results. Microchip Technology (MCHP) closed up more than +12% to lead gainers in the Nasdaq 100, and ON Semiconductor (ON) closed up more than +8%. Texas Instruments (TXN) closed up more than +5% after reporting Q1 revenue of $4.07 billion, above the consensus of $3.91 billion, and forecast Q2 revenue of $4.17 billion-$4.53 billion, stronger than the consensus of $4.12 billion. Also, Lam Research (LRCX) closed up more than +6% after reporting Q3 adjusted EPS of $1.04, above the consensus of $1.00. Other chipmakers rallied on the news, with Marvell Technology (MRVL), ARM Holdings Plc (ARM), Broadcom (AVGO), and NXP Semiconductors NV (NXPI) closing up more than +6%, and GlobalFoundries (GFS) closing up more than +5%.
ServiceNow (NOW) closed up more than +15% to lead gainers in the S&P 500after reporting Q1 subscription revenue of $3.09 billion, better than the consensus of $3.08 billion and forecast Q2 subscription revenue of $3.03 billion-$3.04 billion, stronger than the consensus of $3.02 billion.
Hasbro (HAS) closed up more than +14% after reporting Q1 net revenue of $887.1 million, well above the consensus of $769.2 million.
Allegion Plc (ALLE) closed up more than +10% after reporting Q1 adjusted EPS of $1.86, better than the consensus of $1.68.
United Rentals (URI) closed up more than +9% after reporting Q1 adjusted EPS of $8.86, stronger than the consensus of $8.66.
Edwards Lifesciences (EW) closed up more than +6% after reporting raising its full-year sales forecast to $5.7 billion-$6.1 billion from a previous forecast of $5.6 billion-$6.0 billion, the midpoint above the consensus of $5.81 billion.
Fiserv (FI) closed down more than -18% to lead losers in the S&P 500 after reporting Q1 organic revenue rose +7.0%, weaker than expectations of +8.48%.
LKQ Corp (LKQ) closed down more than -11% after reporting Q1 revenue of $3.46 billion, weaker than the consensus of $3.59 billion.
Alaska Air Group (ALK) closed down more than -9% after forecasting Q2 adjusted EPS of $1.15-$1.65, well below the consensus of $2.41.
International Business Machines (IBM) closed down more than -6% to lead losers in the Dow Jones Industrials despite reporting better-than-expected Q1 earnings after it said economic uncertainty and US government cost cuts may affect future earnings.
PepsiCo (PEP) closed down more than -4% to lead losers in the Nasdaq 100 after reporting Q1 core EPS of $1.48, below the consensus of $1.49, and cut its full-year organic revenue outlook to a low single-digit increase from a previous view of mid-single-digit growth.
Comcast Corp (CMCSA) closed down more than -3% after reporting Q1 pay-TV customers fell by -427,000, a larger decline than the consensus of -409,300.
Tractor Supply (TSCO) closed down more than -3% after reporting Q1 net sales of $3.47 billion, weaker than the consensus of $3.53 billion.
Robert Half Inc (RHI) closed down more than -3% after reporting Q1 revenue of $1.35 billion, below the consensus of $1.41 billion, citing US trade policy weighing on business confidence.

Stocks Finish Sharply Higher on Tech Stock Strength and Fed Rate Cut Hopes

New Analyst Forecast: $RHI Given $55.0 Price Target

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) today is up +0.29%, the Dow Jones Industrials Index ($DOWI) (DIA) is down -0.28%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) is up +0.73%. June E-mini S&P futures (ESM25) are down -0.18%, and June E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQM25) are down -0.03%.
Stock indexes today are mostly higher. Strength in megacap technology stocks and chip makers is boosting the broader maker after Texas Instruments, and Lam Research reported better-than-expected earnings results. Signs of a stable US labor market are also supporting stocks after weekly initial unemployment claims rose as expected, and weekly continuing claims fell to a 10-week low. In addition, lower T-note yields are positive for stocks, with the 10-year T-note yield down -5.1 bp to 4.330% after Cleveland Fed President Hammack said the Fed could cut rates in June if it has clear, convincing data.

Stock gains are limited by concern there will be no quick resolution to the China-US trade war. Treasury Secretary Bessent said President Trump hasn’t offered to take down US tariffs on China on a unilateral basis. Also, China’s Commerce Ministry said the US should revoke all unilateral tariffs and “show sincerity” if it wants to make a trade deal, and “any reports on development in trade talks are groundless.”
US weekly initial unemployment claims rose +6,000 to 222,000, right on expectations. Weekly continuing claims fell -37,000 to a 10-week low of 1.841 million, showing a stronger labor market than expectations of 1.869 million.
US March capital goods new orders nondefense ex-aircraft and parts rose +0.1% m/m, right on expectations.
The US Mar Chicago Fed national activity index fell -0.27 to -0.03, weaker than expectations of 0.12.
Dovish comments from Cleveland Fed President Hammack were supportive of stock and bonds when she ruled out a Fed rate cut at that May 6-7 FOMC meeting but said, “If we have clear and convincing data by June, I think you’ll see the committee move if we know which is the right way to move at that point in time.”
The markets are discounting the chances at 8% for a -25 bp rate cut after the May 6-7 FOMC meeting.
This week’s market focus will be on Q1 corporate earnings results and any changes to US trade policies. The Fed Beige Book will be released later today. Thursday brings March existing home sales (expected to fall -2.8% m/m to 4.14 million). Friday brings the revised University of Michigan April consumer sentiment index (expected no change at 50.8).
Q1 earnings reporting season is in full swing. According to data compiled by Bloomberg Intelligence, the market consensus is for Q1 year-over-year earnings growth of +6.7% for the S&P 500 stocks, down from expectations of +11.1% in early November. Full-year 2025 corporate profits for the S&P 500 are seen rising +9.4%, down from the forecast of +12.5% in early January.
Overseas stock markets today are mixed. The Euro Stoxx 50 is down -0.17%. China’s Shanghai Composite rose to a 3-week high and closed up +0.03%. Japan’s Nikkei Stock 225 climbed to a 3-week high and closed up +0.49%.
Interest Rates
June 10-year T-notes (ZNM25) today are up +14 ticks. The 10-year T-note yield is down -5.1 bp to 4.330%. June T-notes today are moderately higher due to carryover support from strength in European government bonds. T-notes also have carryover support from Wednesday when President Trump said he had no intention of firing Fed Chair Powell, easing concerns over the Fed’s independence, which could have sparked foreign selling of dollar assets, including Treasuries. T-notes extended their gains on dovish comments from Cleveland Fed President Hammack, who said clear data could prompt the Fed to cut interest rates in June. Supply pressures are limiting gains in T-notes ahead of the Treasury’s $44 billion auction of 7-year T-notes later this afternoon.
European government bond yields today are moving lower. The 10-year German bund yield is down -4.6 bp to 2.451%. The 10-year UK gilt yield is down -5.1 bp to 4.501%.
Eurozone Mar new car registrations fell -0.2% y/y to 1.030 million units, the third consecutive monthly decline.
The German Apr IFO business confidence index unexpectedly rose +0.2 to a 9-month high of 86.9, stronger than expectations of a decline to 85.2.
ECB Governing Council member Rehn said the ECB would probably have to lower interest rates further and shouldn’t exclude a larger reduction than 25 bp.
Swaps are discounting the chances at 98% for a -25 bp rate cut by the ECB at the June 5 policy meeting.
US Stock Movers
Magnificent Seven stocks are moving higher today and supporting gains in the broader market. Nvidia (NVDA) is up more than +2%. Also, Tesla (TSLA), Meta Platforms (META), Amazon.com (AMZN), Alphabet (GOOGL), and Microsoft (MSFT) are up more than +1%. In addition, Apple (AAPL) is up +0.47%.
Chip stocks are climbing today on some better-than-expected earnings results. Microchip Technology (MCHP) is up more than +7% to lead gainers in the Nasdaq 100. Texas Instruments (TXN) is up more than +5% after reporting Q1 revenue of $4.07 billion, above the consensus of $3.91 billion, and forecast Q2 revenue of $4.17 billion-$4.53 billion, stronger than the consensus of $4.12 billion. Also, Lam Research (LRCX) is up more than +3% after reporting Q3 adjusted EPS of $1.04, above the consensus of $1.00. Other chipmakers rallied on the news, Analog Devices (ADI) and ON Semiconductor (ON) up more than +4%, and Marvell Technology (MRVL), GlobalFoundries (GFS), ARM Holdings Plc (ARM), and NXP Semiconductors NV (NXPI) up more than +2%.
ServiceNow (NOW) is up more than +14% to lead gainers in the S&P 500after reporting Q1 subscription revenue of $3.09 billion, better than the consensus of $3.08 billion and forecast Q2 subscription revenue of $3.03 billion-$3.04 billion, stronger than the consensus of $3.02 billion.
Hasbro (HAS) is up more than +12% after reporting Q1 net revenue of $887.1 million, well above the consensus of $769.2 million.
Allegion Plc (ALLE) is up more than +8% after reporting Q1 adjusted EPS of $1.86, better than the consensus of $1.68.
Edwards Lifesciences (EW) is up more than +5% after reporting raising its full-year sales forecast to $5.7 billion-$6.1 billion from a previous forecast of $5.6 billion-$6.0 billion, the midpoint above the consensus of $5.81 billion.
Fiserv (FI) is down more than -14% to lead losers in the S&P 500 after reporting Q1 organic revenue rose +7.0%, weaker than expectations of +8.48%.
Alaska Air Group (ALK) is down more than -11% after forecasting Q2 adjusted EPS of $1.15-$1.65, well below the consensus of $2.41.
International Business Machines (IBM) is down more than -8% to lead losers in the Dow Jones Industrials despite reporting better-than-expected Q1 earnings after it said economic uncertainty and US government cost cuts may affect future earnings.
LKQ Corp (LKQ) is down more than -8% after reporting Q1 revenue of $3.46 billion, weaker than the consensus of $3.59 billion.
Tractor Supply (TSCO) is down more than -7% after reporting Q1 net sales of $3.47 billion, weaker than the consensus of $3.53 billion.
Robert Half Inc (RHI) is down more than -11% after reporting Q1 revenue of $1.35 billion, below the consensus of $1.41 billion, citing US trade policy that is weighing on business confidence.

Stocks Supported by Strength in Big Tech and Chip Makers

Robert Half International Inc. RHI reported narrower-than-expected first-quarter 2025 results.
Quarterly earnings of 17 cents per share missed the consensus mark by 52.8% and declined 72.1% year over year. Revenues of $1.35 billion lagged the consensus mark by 3.4% and decreased 8.4% year over year.

The company’s shares have depreciated 35.1% over the past year compared with the Staffing Firms industry’s 30.6% decline.
RHI’s Talent Solutions Revenues Down, Protiviti Up
Talent Solutions’ revenues of $875.3 million decreased 11% year over year on an as-adjusted basis and came in below our estimate of $914.2 million. U.S. Talent Solutions’ revenues of $676 million were down 10% year over year. Non-U.S. Talent Solutions revenues also decreased 15% year over year on an adjusted basis to $199 million.
Protiviti revenues came in at $477 million, up 5% year over year on an as-adjusted basis and below our expectation of $503.1 million. The U.S. Protiviti revenues of $387 million increased 4% year over year on an adjusted basis. Non-U.S. Protiviti revenues of $90 million were up 8% year over year on an as-adjusted basis.
Currency exchange rate movements declined revenues by $12 million in the quarter. The quarter had 61.9 billing days compared with 62.8 billing days in the year-ago quarter.
RHI’s Margins Contract
The adjusted gross profit in the quarter was $495 million, down 13.3% year over year. The adjusted gross profit margin of 36.6% declined 210 basis points year over year.
RHI’s Key Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Figures
Robert Half ended the quarter with a cash and cash equivalent balance of $342.5 million compared with $541 million in the first quarter of 2024. Operating cash in the quarter was $59 million, and capital expenditures were $12.4 million. RHI paid out $61 million in dividends.
Robert Half’s 2025 Guidance
For the second quarter of 2025, Robert Half expects revenues in the band of $1.31-$1.41 billion. The midpoint ($1.36 billion) of the guided range is below the current Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.44 billion.
EPS is expected between 36 cents and 46 cents. The Zacks Consensus Estimate is currently pegged at 62 cents.
Moreover, the company anticipates 63.2 billing days in the second quarter of 2025. Capital expenditures, including capitalized cloud computing costs, are projected to range between $15 million and $25 million during the same period.
For 2025, capital expenditures and capitalized cloud computing costs are expected to be $75 million to $95 million. The estimated full-year tax rate is projected to be between 31% and 33%.
