As Warren Buffett approached the end of his tenure as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA) (NYSE: BRKB), he went on a selling streak unlike any in history. He sold more stock than he bought in each of the last 13 quarters of his time in charge of Berkshire's massive marketable equity portfolio. That led to an astounding cash pile of $373 billion at the end of 2025.
Buffett took the axe to some of Berkshire's biggest positions, and last quarter was no different. He continued to trim its massive stake in Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) and began selling Berkshire's Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) shares as well. Those sales totaled an estimated $4.5 billion. Meanwhile, Buffett started a new position in a company that's been around since the 1850s.

Cutting a couple of longtime holdings
Buffett invested over $30 billion in Apple between 2016 and 2018, making it one of his largest-ever investments. And boy, did it pay off.
Berkshire's shares approached nearly $200 billion in value in 2023 prior to Buffett's decision to trim the position. At one point, the stock accounted for more than 50% of Berkshire's marketable equity portfolio. Even after selling more than three-quarters of its shares, the position is still worth about $60 billion today.
Buffett has previously said he doesn't mind a high concentration of his highest-conviction stocks in a portfolio, a sentiment echoed by new CEO Greg Abel in his first letter to shareholders. While Buffett may have been comfortable with 50% of Berkshire's portfolio in a single stock, he probably wasn't as comfortable with the valuation of that stock.
Apple's trailing P/E climbed from around 10 when Buffett first started buying the shares to about 29 when he first started selling shares in 2023 and 34 at the end of 2025. The valuation remains elevated, even on a forward-looking basis, with the stock trading for 31 times analysts' estimates for the next 12 months.
Even after selling a huge chunk of Apple shares, the stock remains its largest marketable equity position, accounting for about 19% of the total portfolio as of this writing. Abel said investors should expect "limited activity" with regard to Berkshire's Apple stake in the future, so Berkshire may be done selling Apple stock.
The decision to sell Amazon comes after Berkshire has held roughly the same position since early 2019. Many believe the Amazon position was established by Todd Combs, who left the company last quarter. As a result, it's not a big surprise that the company would want to dispose of some of the stocks he was in charge of managing for Berkshire.
Amazon looks like a relative value compared to where it was when Berkshire initially bought shares in 2019. Its P/E ratio fell to 32 by the end of 2025, compared to the 80 times earnings multiple it garnered when Berkshire bought it.
That said, there may be concerns about its free cash flow as it invests heavily in new data centers to meet demand for artificial intelligence (AI) compute. Amazon surprised investors with its $200 billion capital expenditure budget for 2026, which will likely result in negative free cash flow for the year.
Apple and Amazon aren't the only stocks Buffett sold last quarter. And continued selling in Berkshire's portfolio is a sign that Buffett still thinks much of the market is overvalued at this point. That said, there are pockets of opportunities, and Buffett may have found another one right before he retired.
Out with the old, in with the ... older
In his 2023 letter to shareholders, Buffett told investors, "Berkshire is not big on newcomers." He mentioned it as an aside when describing two of his favorite stocks: American Express and Coca-Cola.
Amex began operations all the way back in 1850, and Coca-Cola got its start in 1886. Buffett's latest investment started in 1851 when it published the New-York Daily Times. Today, it's known as The New York Times (NYSE: NYT). Buffett's bet on the newspaper company comes at a time when the news media, particularly the print news media, are facing significant disruption. But Buffett's no stranger to the news business.
Berkshire previously held shares of Graham Holdings, which owned the Washington Post before Amazon founder Jeff Bezos bought it. Buffett served on the board there for a combined 37 years across two stints. Today, the Post is facing significant turmoil, and it recently laid off 30% of its workforce after posting a loss exceeding $100 million in 2025.
But The New York Times has been able to buck the trend. It pushed revenue 9% higher in 2025 while keeping expenses low, leading to a 23% increase in its operating profit. Net income came in at $344 million, up 18% for the year.
That's owed to the publisher's digital transformation, which includes top-tier content across multiple categories beyond news. Its Cooking and Games content keep readers subscribed and coming back to The New York Times for its journalism. Additionally, it expanded its addressable market with sports coverage (The Athletic), product reviews (Wirecutter), and podcasts. The New York Times has managed the shift to digital better than any other 174-year-old publisher and even much younger ones.
Subscriber growth remains strong for the company, up 1.4 million for the year, and 96% of its 12.8 million subscribers are digital-only and pay an average of $9.72 per month. Management expects its strength to continue in the first quarter, with digital-only subscribers rising between 14% and 17% year over year, which should lead to low double-digit revenue growth.
It's worth noting that investors currently have to pay up for the high-quality company. Shares trade for close to 30 times forward earnings estimates. Buffett likely got a much better deal on the shares, which traded for a multiple in the low-to-mid-20s in the third quarter. That seems like a fair price to pay for a wonderful business. At the current price, though, it might be worth waiting for a better entry point.

On Dec. 31, billionaire Warren Buffett, who helped transform Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB) into a trillion-dollar business over more than half a century, called it a career. Wall Street's preeminent buy-and-hold investor stepped down from the CEO role and handed the reins over to successor Greg Abel.
Although the Oracle of Omaha has been gone for two months, the shockwaves of his final trades are still being felt. Quarterly filed Form 13Fs, detailing trading activity for Wall Street's savviest money managers, were filed on Feb. 17 -- Berkshire Hathaway among them.

A historically pricey stock market made Buffett a net seller of stocks for 13 consecutive quarters (Oct. 1, 2022 – Dec. 31, 2025). While Berkshire's 13Fs show he was a persistent seller of his company's No. 1 holding, Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), he did purchase shares of a well-known consumer goods company for six consecutive quarters prior to retiring as CEO.
The Oracle of Omaha dumped 75% of Berkshire's once-enormous stake in Apple
On Sept. 30, 2023, Buffett's company held 915,560,382 shares of Apple, representing well over 40% of Berkshire's invested assets. But over the next nine quarters, leading up to the Oracle of Omaha's departure, 687,642,574 shares were sold, ultimately reducing this still-No. 1 position by 75%. This includes an additional 10,294,956 shares sold in Buffett's final quarter as CEO.
Warren Buffett made clear in his letters to shareholders and during annual meetings that he values Apple as a company. While most investors have been focusing on Apple's artificial intelligence (AI) aspirations of late, Buffett tended to home in on the customer loyalty aspect of its business. Although trust takes time to build in the retail world, consumers have demonstrated a willingness to pay a premium for Apple's physical devices, including its heralded iPhone.
Furthermore, Berkshire's billionaire boss was a fan of Apple's market-leading share repurchase program. Since initiating its buyback program in 2013, Berkshire's No. 1 holding has spent more than $841 billion to repurchase over 44% of its outstanding shares. Public companies with steady or growing net income that regularly repurchase their stock should see their earnings per share (EPS) rise over time.
But Apple wasn't flawless, as Buffett's persistent selling activity indicates.
Arguably, Apple's primary issue is its valuation. When Warren Buffett initially bought shares in the first quarter of 2016, it was trading at 10 to 15 times trailing 12-month (TTM) EPS. As of the closing bell on Feb. 25, Apple's TTM EPS is 34.5. Buffett has historically not been shy about paring down positions where he no longer sees value.
Apple's innovative growth spurt also hit a snag between fiscal years 2022 through 2024. While subscription service revenue has been rising at a steady pace, physical device sales for Apple, including the iPhone, were relatively stagnant for three years. This makes its historically expensive price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio all the more egregious.
Lastly, corporate taxation may have come into play. During Berkshire's 2024 annual meeting with shareholders, Buffett opined that corporate income tax rates were likely to rise in the future. He intimated that selling Apple stock would, in hindsight, be viewed as an astute move, given Berkshire Hathaway's sizable unrealized gain in the company.
Warren Buffett wanted a bigger slice of the pie before retirement
While a lot of attention was paid to Warren Buffett's final addition to Berkshire Hathaway's investment portfolio, The New York Times Co., it's fast-food restaurant chain Domino's Pizza (NASDAQ: DPZ) that was his most consistent buy leading up to retirement.
According to Berkshire's 13Fs, its now-former billionaire chief purchased shares of Domino's for six straight quarters and built up a 9.9% stake:
Q3 2024: 1,277,256 shares purchased
Q4 2024: 1,104,744 shares purchased
Q1 2025: 238,613 shares purchased
Q2 2025: 13,255 shares purchased
Q3 2025: 348,077 shares purchased
Q4 2025: 368,055 shares purchased (3,350,000 total shares held)
The "why Domino's Pizza?" argument begins with trust. In the late 2000s, Domino's undertook a then-risky marketing campaign where it admitted its pizza was subpar and vowed to do better. For more than 15 years, the company has relied on transparent marketing to earn and retain consumers' trust. With shares of Domino's soaring by 6,700% since its initial public offering in July 2004, including dividends, it's plainly evident that this strategy has worked wonders.
Warren Buffett was likely also attracted to Domino's international opportunity. The 1.9% international same-store sales growth reported for fiscal 2025 (ended Dec. 28) marked the 32nd consecutive year of positive same-store sales growth in overseas markets. This is a testament to the value of the company's products and brand.
Additionally, Domino's Pizza offers a steady diet of share buybacks and dividends for its investors. Buffett commonly gravitated to time-tested businesses that put shareholders first.
But perhaps the most compelling investment thesis for Domino's Pizza has been its ability to meet or exceed its five-year growth initiatives. The company's latest plan, dubbed "Hungry for MORE," utilizes AI to improve output and make its supply chain more efficient. It also relies on product innovation and the company's team members and franchisees to build up the brand globally.
Rounding things out, Domino's forward P/E of less than 19 (as of Feb. 25) represents a 31% discount to its average forward P/E ratio over the trailing five-year period -- and we all know how much Warren Buffett loved a bona fide price dislocation.

As it always does following each quarter, Berkshire Hathaway recently disclosed the stocks it held in its massive equities portfolio at the end of the fourth quarter of 2025. This is a particularly special filing for followers of Berkshire because it will ultimately be the last quarter that Warren Buffett was CEO of the company he led for over six decades and built into one of the greatest wealth-generating machines in history.
While Buffett will remain chairman of the board of directors, the 95-year-old's involvement in the company will likely be more limited from here, meaning last quarter could be one of the final glimpses investors will get into how the Oracle of Omaha views the market and what stocks he might have had a say in buying and selling.

In Q4, Berkshire dumped 77% of its Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) stake and opened a new position in a stock that has become a digital media juggernaut.
Amazon was never a high conviction play
Buffett and Berkshire first bought Amazon in 2019 and held the stock for many years. But it never seemed like Berkshire really liked Amazon all that much, constantly keeping the position below 1% of the total portfolio. Instead, Berkshire made much larger bets on Apple and Alphabet.
It's never quite clear why Buffett and the team at Berkshire buy and sell stocks, as they are among the greatest investors in the world and therefore possess a unique perspective. Amazon has always had two great businesses. The first is Amazon's incredible e-commerce platform, backed by one of the world's most advanced logistics networks, where consumers can buy just about anything and have it shipped to their homes within a day or two.
Amazon's other great business is Amazon Web Services (AWS), its cloud business that runs its own data centers, enabling businesses to store their data and run applications in the cloud without building their own infrastructure.
There are two issues that Amazon has been dealing with over the past year. The first concerns President Donald Trump's tariffs, which affect the e-commerce business because many of Amazon's products are made in China, and many of its third-party sellers are abroad as well. The second is that many investors perceive AWS as lagging in its artificial intelligence (AI) strategy compared to some other hyperscalers.
However, Amazon is likely to be able to navigate the tariffs, and there could, at some point, be more clarity and even reprieve on some, as Trump's term proceeds. Amazon is also investing heavily in AI capital expenditures (capex), guiding for $200 billion of capex this year, much of which will be for AI-related data centers. Amazon is also expected to benefit immensely from the integration of robotics into its warehouses, which will help with cost control.
Now trading at 26 times forward earnings, this could be a buying opportunity for the stock, although investors shouldn't just buy stocks because they trade at lower valuations. Amazon will need to prove to the market that the $200 billion it is planning for capex will translate into higher revenue and stronger returns for shareholders.
The king of news
Berkshire's sole new position in the quarter was a roughly $350 million bet on The New York Times (NYSE: NYT). Berkshire has long dabbled in the media and newspaper business. The company held a long-standing position at The Washington Post until 2014 and, until 2020, owned over 30 daily newspapers, before selling them.
The New York Times' stock is up over 51% in the past year and seems to have caught Berkshire's attention. The company has executed successfully over the past 15 years or so. At the end of 2012, the company had close to $700 million in debt, exceeding its equity. Today, The New York Times is debt free and returning capital to shareholders through share repurchases and dividends.
The company has successfully pulled off a digital transformation, including the introduction of podcasts and games, as well as the purchase of other growing media outlets such as The Athletic, a popular sports media site. In its most recent quarter, The New York Times added 450,000 net digital-only subscribers, bringing total subscribers to nearly 12.8 million.
The New York Times seems to be pulling further ahead in the news business, with most other news outlets having to cut reporters and certain coverage areas. For instance, The Washington Post just conducted significant layoffs, including in its foreign coverage. There's competition to be sure from new and emerging media companies, and The New York Times' stock is not cheap, trading at close to 28 times forward earnings.
But Buffett was always a fan of moats, and The New York Times now seems to have a clear one in the world of reporting and news, with a strong digital strategy to continue into the modern era.

Famed investor Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB) didn't do much buying in Q4, the company revealed on Tuesday when it released its latest 13-F filing. In fact, it did more selling than buying. But there was one interesting, entirely new position. During the quarter, Berkshire established a position in The New York Times (NYSE: NYT). While the position is small for Berkshire, accounting for only about 0.1% of its overall portfolio, it's meaningful for The New York Times.
After buying nearly 5.1 million shares of The New York Times Co. during the quarter, the stake is now valued at more than $350 million, representing approximately a 3% stake in the company, which commands a market capitalization of more than $12 billion.

While the small size of the new position suggests it likely wasn't a move by Warren Buffett himself during his last quarter as CEO, it could have been one of his investment lieutenants -- either Todd Combs, who left Berkshire in December amid a broader restructuring of Berkshire's leadership team, or Ted Weschler.
Whatever the case, the new investment is interesting, and it prompts the question: Should investors follow Berkshire's footsteps and buy shares of The New York Times Co.?
Strong business momentum
Looking at The New York Times' financials, you can see why Berkshire was attracted to the company. It's firing on all cylinders. The company's digital-only subscription revenue in Q4 rose 13.9% year over year, and its digital advertising revenue climbed 24.9%. The company's total revenue rose 10.4% year over year to $802 million.
Also worth calling out, The New York Times' adjusted earnings per share rose 11.2% year over year to $0.89.
Looking to the start of 2026, The New York Times expects its business momentum to continue. The company guided for digital-only subscription revenue to increase 14% to 17% year over year in Q1, and digital advertising revenue to increase at a rate in the high teens to low twenties. For total advertising revenue, management expects a year-over-year growth rate in the low double digits.
Is this a good time to buy The New York Times stock?
With The New York Times' business clearly doing well, is this a good time to follow Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway into the stock?
Two long-term catalysts for The New York Times that I can think of that the Berkshire executive responsible for the purchase may have had in mind when the purchase was made may have been the company's reputation as a trusted source as AI (artificial intelligence) content becomes more prevalent, and the company's growing emphasis on video as a news channel it wants to become more prominent in.
"As we've discussed, video in particular remains an important area of strategic investment being reflected in our guidance," explained The New York Times' chief financial officer, Will Bardeen, during the company's fourth-quarter earnings call. "We are confident in our ability to generate strong returns as we grow the amount and impact of video journalism in news and across our portfolio."
With all of this said, it's worth noting that Berkshire may have initiated its stake in The New York Times at a much lower price. There were parts of Q4 in which the stock traded in the fifties. Shares are up more than 35% from those levels.

Warren Buffett, who retired as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway on Dec. 31, closed out his tenure by overseeing significant selling in Amazon, Apple, and Bank of America.
However, Buffett went out with a bang by purchasing over 5 million shares of a potential black-and-white bargain.

The latest round of 13Fs features the last trading activity from Berkshire Hathaway's (NYSE: BRKA)(NYSE: BRKB) Warren Buffett, who retired as CEO on Dec. 31, 2025. In his final quarter before retirement, the Oracle of Omaha dumped shares of Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN), Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL), and Bank of America (NYSE: BAC), and made a brand-new $352 million addition to Berkshire's portfolio.

The net selling continued up until retirement
Based on Berkshire's 13F, Buffett and his team were net sellers of stocks during the fourth quarter. This means he sold more stocks than he purchased for 13 consecutive quarters (since Oct. 1, 2022), leading up to his retirement.
During the fourth quarter, Buffett oversaw the sale of:
7,724,000 shares of Amazon
10,294,956 shares of Apple
50,774,078 shares of Bank of America
The sizable reduction in Amazon lowered Berkshire's stake by 77%. Meanwhile, Buffett oversaw a 75% haircut in his company's Apple stake since Sept. 30, 2023, and a 50% cut in the Bank of America stake since the midpoint of 2024.
While a historically low (and now-permanent) peak marginal corporate income tax rate likely incentivized some selling activity in Apple and BofA, the prevailing theme of this selling looks to be valuation.
For instance, when Buffett initially purchased Apple shares in the first quarter of 2016, the stock traded at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio in the low-to-mid teens. But following several years of subpar physical device growth, it now sports a trailing 12-month P/E ratio of 33.
It's a similar story for Bank of America. When Berkshire Hathaway provided $5 billion in financial backing in the summer of 2011 in exchange for $5 billion in preferred stock, BofA common stock was trading at a 62% discount to its book value. Its shares are now valued at a 37% premium to book.
Lastly, Amazon has never been inexpensive by traditional valuation metrics. Although it's historically cheap, relative to the consensus cash flow estimate for 2027, Berkshire's now-retired investing legend has been leery of sky-high valuations on Wall Street.
The Oracle of Omaha goes out with a $352 million bang
Although a handful of existing holdings were added to during Buffett's final quarter, the purchase that really stands out is The New York Times Co. (NYSE: NYT). Berkshire's 13F shows 5,065,744 shares were scooped up, worth nearly $352 million on Dec. 31.
Warren Buffett has long been a fan of brand-name companies that have built consumer trust. The New York Times brand, coupled with its modest dividend and steady stream of share buybacks, laid a solid foundation.
Furthermore, digital subscriptions for The New York Times continue to climb (12.78 million, as of Dec. 31). With strong pricing power lifting average revenue per user and double-digit growth in digital advertising providing a boost, The New York Times appear to be firing on all cylinders.
Perhaps the one question mark is valuation. Buffett, who's demonstrated a willingness to sit on his hands until stock valuations made sense, paid an aggressive forward P/E of 24 for The New York Times stock.

The Hershey Co.
Hershey is focused on strengthening innovation, supply-chain agility and commercial execution as it expands its presence across the snacking category. HSY is supported by strong pricing discipline, a successful innovation pipeline and solid growth in salty snacks.
Hershey is progressing through a multi-year transformation that modernizes and integrates its supply chain, strengthens commercial capabilities, and enhances demand forecasting and execution. HSY highlighted upgrades across procurement, production, distribution and commercial planning, supported by investments in data, analytics and digital tools.
HSY’s retail takeaway improved across core categories, reflecting better shelf execution and effective brand investment. Management expressed confidence in returning to its long-term growth algorithm in the following year.
Hershey has an expected revenue and earnings growth rate of 4.1% and 13.3%, respectively, for the current year. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current year’s earnings has improved 2% over the last seven days. HSY has a current dividend yield of 2.37%.
Kimberly-Clark Corp.
Kimberly-Clark is advancing its transformation through the Powering Care strategy, with fourth-quarter 2025 results showing improving growth quality, profitability and organizational focus. Innovation remains a central pillar of KMB’s growth agenda, with management underscoring that recent performance has become increasingly innovation-led across its portfolio.
KMB’s stronger organic growth and volume trends reflect better consumer engagement and more consistent execution across regions. Innovation-led performance, guided by a structured “good-better-best” approach, is driving premiumization, expanding consumer reach and reinforcing brand strength.
The shift toward a volume and mix-led growth model underscores healthier demand dynamics, while solid productivity execution and supply-chain efficiencies help protect KMB’s margins and support continued reinvestment.
Hershey has an expected revenue and earnings growth rate of -2.1% and -6.2%, respectively, for the current year. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current year’s earnings has improved 0.2% over the last 30 days. KMB has a current dividend yield of 4.83%.
Monster Beverage Corp.
Monster Beverage continues to benefit from the expansion of the energy drinks market and product launches, reinforcing its category strength. MNST continues to benefit from constant growth in the global energy drink market, backed by strong demand across convenience stores and other key retail channels. Improving margins, supported by easing supply-chain pressures and lower costs, have contributed to MNST’s financial stability.
Product innovation remains a core growth driver for MNST. The company continues to invest heavily in new launches to strengthen its global footprint. Last year, Monster Beverage rolled out several high-profile innovations, with a solid innovation pipeline planned for 2026.
Building on the success of its $1 billion Ultra brand, MNST also introduced a new visual identity and merchandising strategy with dedicated Zero Sugar coolers, supported by a viral social media campaign around its flagship Zero Ultra drink.

5 Consumer Staples Giants to Buy Amid the Sector's Strong Momentum

The New York Times Company NYT continued its strong performance in the fourth quarter of 2025, with results surpassing expectations for both the top and bottom lines. Adjusted earnings came in at 89 cents a share, topping the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 88 cents and improving from 80 cents in the prior-year quarter. Revenues rose 10.4% year over year to $802.3 million, outpacing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $790 million.
The quarter’s strength reflected healthy subscription momentum, robust digital advertising growth, contributions from diversified revenue streams and solid free cash flow generation. NYT added approximately 450,000 net digital-only subscribers in the quarter under review compared with the end of the preceding quarter.
The New York Times Company consistently grew its digital-only average revenue per user (ARPU), which increased to an impressive $9.72 in the fourth quarter from $9.65 in the year-ago period. This rise in ARPU can be attributed to subscribers transitioning from promotional pricing to higher rate plans and price hikes for certain tenured subscribers.
NYT’s Subscription Revenues Show Strong Y/Y Growth
Total subscription revenues climbed 9.4% year over year to $510.5 million in the quarter under review. Subscription revenues from digital-only products jumped 13.9% to $381.5 million. This reflects an increase in bundle and multi-product revenues and a rise in other single-product subscription revenues, partly offset by a decline in news-only subscription revenues. However, print subscription revenues dropped 2% to $129 million, reflecting continued softness in home delivery and single-copy sales.
The company ended the quarter with 12.78 million subscribers across its print and digital products, including 12.21 million digital-only subscribers. Of the 12.21 million subscribers, roughly 6.48 million were bundle and multiproduct subscribers.
The New York Times Company remains optimistic about sustaining its growth trajectory into the first quarter of 2026. Management guided for digital-only subscription revenues to rise 14-17%, reflecting continued momentum in multi-product bundles and subscriber engagement. Total subscription revenues are expected to increase 9-11%.

A Look at The New York Times Company’s Advertising Revenues
Total advertising revenues improved 16.1% year over year to $191.7 million. Digital advertising revenues surged 24.9% to $147.2 million, driven by strong marketer demand and new advertising supply. Print advertising declined 5.8% to $44.4 million.
For the first quarter, the company anticipates total advertising revenues to increase in the low double digits, supported by an expanding digital ecosystem. Digital advertising revenues are projected to grow in the high-teens-to-low-twenties range.
Other Key Highlights of NYT’s Results
Affiliate, licensing and other revenues increased 5.5% to $100.2 million, fueled by stronger licensing revenues. On the cost side, adjusted operating costs grew 9.7% to $610 million, mainly reflecting higher journalism costs, marketing spend and product development investments. Even with rising costs, the company achieved 12.8% growth in adjusted operating profit (AOP) to $192.3 million, while the AOP margin expanded 50 basis points to 24%, underscoring disciplined cost management and operational leverage.
Affiliate, licensing and other revenues are forecasted to increase at a high single-digit rate in the first quarter. On the cost front, management expects adjusted operating costs to jump 8% to 9%.
Sneak Peek Into NYT’s Financial Health
The New York Times Company ended the quarter with cash and marketable securities of $1.2 billion, reflecting an increase of $256 million from $911.9 million as of Dec. 31, 2024. As of Dec. 31, 2025, the company had no outstanding borrowings under its $400 million unsecured revolving credit facility and carried no other outstanding debt.
The New York Times Company incurred capital expenditures of about $7 million in the quarter. Management envisions capital expenditures in the band of $35-$45 million for 2026.
Free cash flow for 2025 stood at $550.5 million, up sharply from $381.3 million in 2024. During the quarter, the company repurchased approximately 883,602 shares for $55.4 million, with $334.4 million remaining under its share repurchase authorization.

The New York Times Company delivered another solid quarter, outperforming expectations and demonstrating the strength of its diversified revenue model. Continued digital subscription gains, robust advertising growth and healthy cash generation reinforce the success of its strategy to expand engagement across a growing portfolio.
