NYT reached an all-time high of $71.08 on Dec. 19, quickly surpassing a $68 price target that was set by Morgan Stanley analyst Thomas Yeh the day before. Share prices even exceeded the $71 price target set by David Karnovsky of JP Morgan, which was established in mid-November. The stock is up by 34.60% for the year 2025 (as of Dec. 19), yet still remains a buy target, according to most analysts.
The New York Times Co. has a long-term goal of reaching a subscriber base of 15 million. Within its long-term strategy, the company plans to better utilize its sports news subsidiary, The Athletic, while also using artificial intelligence (AI) to offer more personalized experiences for subscribers and target new ones.
Speaking of AI, the newspaper company continues its legal battles against AI companies, including its most recent lawsuit against Perplexity on Dec. 5. The New York Times Co. claims that Perplexity copied, distributed, and displayed millions of its articles, including ones behind paywalls, without permission to power its AI products. This drama follows an ongoing, two-year-long lawsuit between the NYT, OpenAI, and Microsoft, where the latter two are being sued for a similar case of copyright infringement.

In addition to rising legal costs, ACHC continues to face rising costs from higher wages, benefits, and supply prices. Total expenses surged 15% year over year. Meanwhile, ongoing DOJ scrutiny and heightened media attention are likely to keep these expenses elevated, pressuring margins.
ACHC Suffers from Negative EPS Growth
ACHC is facing negative growth prospects over the next few quarters. For the current quarter, Zacks Consensus Estimates suggest EPS growth will plunge 84.38% year-over-year. Meanwhile, the negative EPS growth is expected to continue into next year.

Additionally, the company’s reduced 2025 guidance reflects continued financial strain. ACHC management now expects adjusted EPS between $2.35 and $2.45, down from $2.45-$2.65 previously. Adjusted EBITDA is forecast at $650–$660 million, lower than the prior $675–$700 million range. Operating cash flow guidance was lowered to $400 to $425 million. The downgrades highlight cost pressures and slower recovery momentum across operations. Management still plans capital expenditures of $505–$515 million for 2025, suggesting limited flexibility despite moderated earnings expectations. With softer guidance and rising expenses, near-term growth prospects remain constrained.
ACHC: Relative Weakness & A Broken Chart
ACHC shares are -64.53% year-to-date, dramatically underperforming the major market indices and exhibiting troubling relative weakness. Meanwhile, shares are well below their 200-day moving average. As Paul Tudor Jones warns, “Nothing good happens below the 200-day moving average.”

The New York Times Co., Q3 Income Rises

(RTTNews) - The New York Times Company (NYT) on Wednesday reported stronger profit for the third quarter of 2025, supported by growth across its subscription, advertising, and affiliate businesses. Both earnings and revenue surpassed analysts' expectations.
Net income climbed to $81.65 million, or $0.50 per share, from $64.14 million, or $0.39 per share, in the same quarter of 2024.
Excluding one-time items, adjusted EPS was $0.59, up from $0.45 last year. Analysts had expected $0.53 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Operating profit increased 36.6% to $104.79 million, compared with $76.73 million a year ago, while adjusted operating profit increased 26.1% year-over-year to $131.4 million.
Total revenue grew 9.5% to $700.82 million, from $640.18 million, led by subscription revenue of $494.63 million, up 9.1%, advertising revenue of $132.291 million, up 11.8%, and affiliate, licensing, and other revenue of $73.9 million, up 7.9%.
The consensus estimate for revenue stood at $692.01 million.
For the full year, the company expects digital-only subscription revenues to rise 13-16%, with total subscription revenues increasing 8-10%. Digital advertising revenues are projected to grow mid-to-high teens, and total advertising revenues are expected to increase in the high-single to low-double-digit range.
Shares fell over 3% in premarket trading after closing at $57.75, up 1.21% on Tuesday.

Shares of Figma (NYSE: FIG) fell 26.2% in September 2025, according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence. That's the second double-digit price drop in two months, following Figma's initial public offering (IPO) on Aug. 1, 2025. On the upside, September's plunge was softer than August's 39% crash.
The company published its first quarterly report as a public company last month. The market reaction to that presentation accounted for most of August's investor pain.

Wall Street wanted more from Figma's debut report
Figma posted 41% year-over-year revenue growth in the second quarter of 2025, landing at $249.6 million. Adjusted net income rose 39% to $19.8 million, but both the new tally and the year-ago figure rounded off to breakeven earnings per share. The analyst consensus had called for earnings near $0.08 per share on sales in the neighborhood of $248.7 million. So that was a mixed bag with a mild revenue surprise and a more substantial bottom-line miss.
Looking ahead, Figma's management issued fairly bullish revenue guidance, with next-quarter and full-year targets just ahead of the Wall Street consensus.
Investors shrugged off the solid revenues to focus on Figma's earnings miss instead. The stock fell 19.9% the next day, followed by continued volatility for the rest of the month.
What goes up on IPO day often comes down quickly
The stock soared sky high on its IPO date. The stock was priced for sale at $33 per share but closed the first trading day at $65.57. Even now, after two months of steep price drops, Figma's stock trades well above the official IPO price at nearly $52 per share.
Getting in early on exciting IPOs can be a risky business. It's not a hard and fast rule but skyrocketing first-day prices are often followed by harsh price corrections right away. That's really what's going on here, as Figma investors adjust their expectations after August's soaring debut.
And there may be further price drops in the months ahead. The stock still looks incredibly expensive, trading at 277 times trailing earnings and 28.5 times sales.
Figma's technology is indeed exciting, using artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced collaboration tools to help teams of people create stunning web sites and mobile apps. The client list includes big names like Netflix, Duolingo, Zoom, and The New York Times -- all online veterans with the resources to choose any graphic design platform. And they all ended up using Figma.
But even when the sky is the limit, there's always a limit. Figma's stock probably shouldn't be worth $25.4 billion at this early stage, but that's the deal today. I don't mind watching this cooldown playing out from Wall Street's sidelines. The original IPO price of $33 per share looks like a more reasonable entry point. The stock is just too hot to handle so far.

Why Figma's Stock Lost 26% Last Month

Lennar, one of the nation's leading homebuilders, announced that its Board of Directors has declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.50 per share for both Class A and Class B common stock payable on October 27, 2025 to holders of record at the close of business on October 10, 2025.
Honeywell today announced that its Board of Directors has approved an increase in the company's regular annual cash dividend from $4.52 to $4.76 per share. The increase will be effective starting with the fourth-quarter dividend of $1.19 per share, which was declared today, and is payable on December 5, 2025, out of surplus to holders of record at the close of business on November 14, 2025. This marks the 16th time in 15 consecutive years that Honeywell has increased its annual dividend.
The New York Times' Board of Directors today declared a regular quarterly dividend of $.18 per share on the Company's Class A and Class B common stock. The dividend is payable on October 23, 2025, to shareholders of record as of the close of business on October 8, 2025.
Ingles Markets today announced that its Board of Directors has declared a cash dividend of $0.165 per share on all its Class A Common Stock and $0.15 per share on all its Class B Common Stock. This is an annual rate of $0.66 and $0.60 per share, respectively. Dividends on both the Class A and Class B Common Stock are payable October 16, 2025, to all shareholders of record on October 9, 2025.

Stock indexes gave up early gains today and turned lower as the 2-day FOMC meeting began. The markets are expecting that the Fed will cut interest rates at Wednesday’s conclusion of the 2-day FOMC meeting. However, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 stocks fell from new record highs and turned lower after today’s stronger-than-expected US retail sales and manufacturing production reports were hawkish for Fed policy.

Signs that US consumer spending is holding up are a positive factor for the economy and equity markets after Aug retail sales rose more than expected. Also, strength in technology stocks is supportive of the broader market, led by a rally in semiconductor stocks.
US Aug retail sales rose +0.6% m/m, stronger than expectations of +0.2% m/m. Also, Aug retail sales ex-autos rose +0.7% m/m, stronger than expectations of +0.4% m/m.
The US Aug import price index ex-petroleum rose +0.2% m/m, slightly stronger than expectations of +0.1% m/m.
US Aug manufacturing production unexpectedly rose +0.2% m/m versus expectations for a -0.2% m/m decline.
The US Sep NAHB housing market index was unchanged at a 2.75-year low of 32, weaker than expectations of an increase to 33.
Most major US benchmark indexes, including the S&P 500, the Dow Jones Industrials, and the Nasdaq 100, continue to post record highs, driven by expectations of Fed interest rate cuts. Weak labormarket newsand relatively contained inflation reports bolstered expectations for at least a -25 bp rate cut by the Fed at the Tue/Wed FOMC meeting and a total of -70 bp of rate cuts by year’s end.
The markets this week will continue to focus on any fresh trade or tariff news. On Wednesday, the FOMC is expected to cut the federal funds rate target by -25 bp to 4.00%-4.25% from 4.25%-4.50% and Fed Chair Powell will deliver post-FOMC meeting comments. On Thursday, weekly initial unemployment claims are expected to fall by -23,000 to 240,000.
The markets are pricing in a 100% chance of a -25 bp rate cut and a 5% chance of a -50 bp rate cut at the conclusion of the Tue/Wed FOMC meeting. After the fully expected -25 bp rate cut at this week’s meeting, the markets are discounting an 84% chance of a second -25 bp rate cut at the next FOMC meeting on Oct 28-29. The markets are pricing in an overall -68 bp rate cut in the federal funds rate by year-end to 3.65% from the current 4.33% rate.
Overseas stock markets today are mixed. The Euro Stoxx 50 is down -0.86%. China’s Shanghai Composite closed up +0.04%. Japan’s Nikkei Stock 225 rallied to a new record high and closed up +0.30%.
Interest Rates
December 10-year T-notes (ZNZ5) today are up +1 tick. The 10-year T-note yield is down by -0.2 bp to 4.036%. Dec T-notes recovered from early losses and are slightly higher. Short covering pushed T-note higher today after stocks gave up early gains and turned lower. T-notes also have support on expectations that the Fed will cut interest rates by at least -25 bp at the conclusion of today’s 2-day FOMC meeting on Wednesday.
T-notes initially moved lower today after the US retail sales and manufacturing production reports rose more than expected. Also, supply pressures are weighing on T-notes as the Treasury will auction $13 billion of 20-year T-bonds later today.
Concerns about Fed independence are negatively impacting T-note prices due to President Trump’s attempt to fire Fed Governor Cook and Stephen Miran’s intention to hold a Fed Governor position while remaining technically in his White House role on the Council of Economic Advisors.
European government bond yields are moving higher today. The 10-year German bund yield is up +0.8 bp to 2.699%. The 10-year UK gilt yield is up +2.2 bp to 4.655%.
Eurozone July industrial production rose +0.3% m/m, weaker than expectations of +0.4% m/m, but June was revised upward to -0.6% m/m from -1.3% m/m.
Eurozone Q2 labor costs increased to +3.6% y/y from +3.4% y/y in Q1.
The German Sep ZEW survey expectations of economic growth unexpectedly rose +2.6 to 37.3, stronger than expectations of a decline to 25.0.
ECB Governing Council member Simkus said, “It is clear that inflation in the Eurozone is currently at the target level, and if we look at the medium term, it is still hovering around 2% or very close to it. Given these trends, the sequence of interest rate cuts by the ECB is very close to the end.”
Swaps are discounting a 2% chance for a -25 bp rate cut by the ECB at its next policy meeting on October 30.
US Stock Movers
Strength in chip makers today is leading technology stocks higher. ON Semiconductor (ON) is up more than +2% to lead gainers in the Nasdaq 100. Also, Intel (INTC), ASML Holding NV (ASML), Qualcomm (QCOM), and Microchip Technology (MCHP) are up more than +1%.
Energy producers and energy service providers are moving higher today, with the price of WTI crude up more than +1% at a 1.5-week high. APA Corp (APA) is up more than +4% and Diamondback Energy (FANG) is up more than +2% to lead gainers in the Nasdaq 100. Also, Devon Energy (DVN), Occidental Petroleum (OXY), and Valero Energy (VLO) are up more than +2%. In addition, ConocoPhillips (COP), Marathon Petroleum (MPC), Baker Hughes (BKR), Chevron (CVX), and Exxon Mobil (XOM) are up more than +1%.
Webtoon Entertainment (WBTN) is up more than +27% after Walt Disney said it plans to acquire a 2% equity interest in the company.
Bloom Energy (BE) is up more than +6% after Morgan Stanley raised its price target on the stock to $85 from $44.
Steel Dynamics (STLD) is up more than +5% to lead gainers in the S&P 500 after forecasting Q3 adjusted EPS of $2.60-$2.64, better than the consensus of $2.58.
Ferguson Enterprises (FERG) is up more than +5% after reporting Q4 revenue of $8.50 billion, stronger than the consensus of $8.41 billion.
Oracle (ORCL) is up more than +2% after CBS News reported that the company is among a consortium of firms that would enable TikTok to continue operations in the US if a framework deal is finalized.
Hershey (HSY) is up more than +2% after Goldman Sachs double upgraded the stock to buy from sell with a price target of $222.
Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG) is up more than +1% after its board approves an additional $500 million for its share buyback program.
Dave & Buster’s Entertainment (PLAY) is down more than -16% after reporting Q2 adjusted EPS of 40 cents, well below the consensus of 89 cents.
Rocket Lab (RKLB) is down more than -9% after announcing it plans to offer $750 million shares of common stock in an at-the-market offering.
Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) is down more than -8% to lead losers in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 after TD Cowen downgraded the stock to hold from buy.
Everest Group Ltd (EG) is down more than -2% after Wolfe Research initiated coverage on the stock with a recommendation of underperform and a price target of $287.
The New York Times (NYT) is down more than -2% after President Trump said he is bringing a $15 billion defamation and libel suit against the company.
Ralph Lauren (RL) is down more than -1% after it projected sales to grow at a mid-single-digit percentage annually through fiscal 2028, slower growth than the company has posted in recent quarters.

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) today is up +0.08%, the Dow Jones Industrials Index ($DOWI) (DIA) is down -0.28%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) is up +0.08%. September E-mini S&P futures (ESU25) are up +0.07%, and September E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQU25) are up +0.06%.
Stock indexes are mostly higher today, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 posting new all-time highs. Strength in technology stocks is supporting gains in the broader market, led by a rally in semiconductor stocks. Also, expectations that the Fed will cut interest rates at the conclusion of the 2-day FOMC meeting that begins today are underpinning stock prices.

Signs that US consumer spending is holding up are a positive factor for the economy and equity markets after Aug retail sales rose more than expected. However, stocks fell back from their best levels after bond yields rose on the stronger-than-expected US retail sales and manufacturing production reports.
US Aug retail sales rose +0.6% m/m, stronger than expectations of +0.2% m/m. Also, Aug retail sales ex-autos rose +0.7% m/m, stronger than expectations of +0.4% m/m.
The US Aug import price index ex-petroleum rose +0.2% m/m, slightly stronger than expectations of +0.1% m/m.
US Aug manufacturing production unexpectedly rose +0.2% m/m versus expectations for a -0.2% m/m decline.
Most major US benchmark indexes, including the S&P 500, the Dow Jones Industrials, and the Nasdaq 100, continue to post record highs, driven by expectations of Fed interest rate cuts. Weak labormarket newsand relatively contained inflation reports bolstered expectations for at least a -25 bp rate cut by the Fed at the Tue/Wed FOMC meeting and a total of -70 bp of rate cuts by year's end.
The markets this week will continue to focus on any fresh trade or tariff news. Later today, the Sep NAHB housing market index is expected to rise by +1 to 33. On Wednesday, the FOMC is expected to cut the federal funds rate target by -25 bp to 4.00%-4.25% from 4.25%-4.50% and Fed Chair Powell will deliver post-FOMC meeting comments. On Thursday, weekly initial unemployment claims are expected to fall by -23,000 to 240,000.
The markets are pricing in a 100% chance of a -25 bp rate cut and a 5% chance of a -50 bp rate cut at the conclusion of the Tue/Wed FOMC meeting. After the fully expected -25 bp rate cut at this week’s meeting, the markets are discounting an 82% chance of a second -25 bp rate cut at the next FOMC meeting on Oct 28-29. The markets are pricing in an overall -67 bp rate cut in the federal funds rate by year-end to 3.66% from the current 4.33% rate.
Overseas stock markets today are mixed. The Euro Stoxx 50 is down -0.12%. China's Shanghai Composite closed up +0.04%. Japan's Nikkei Stock 225 rallied to a new record high and closed up +0.30%.
Interest Rates
December 10-year T-notes (ZNZ5) today are down -4 ticks. The 10-year T-note yield is up by +2.1 bp to 4.056%. Dec T-notes are moving slightly lower today as the S&P 500 climbs to a new record high, which reduces safe-haven demand for T-notes. Also, supply pressures are weighing on T-notes as the Treasury will auction $13 billion of 20-year T-bonds later today. T-notes extended their losses after the US retail sales and manufacturing production reports rose more than expected.
Losses in T-notes are limited by expectations that the Fed will cut interest rates by at least -25 bp at the conclusion of today's 2-day FOMC meeting on Wednesday.
Concerns about Fed independence are negatively impacting T-note prices due to President Trump's attempt to fire Fed Governor Cook and Stephen Miran's intention to hold a Fed Governor position while remaining technically in his White House role on the Council of Economic Advisors.
European government bond yields are moving higher today. The 10-year German bund yield is up +1.1 bp to 2.702%. The 10-year UK gilt yield is up +1.3 bp to 4.646%.
Eurozone July industrial production rose +0.3% m/m, weaker than expectations of +0.4% m/m, but June was revised upward to -0.6% m/m from -1.3% m/m.
Eurozone Q2 labor costs increased to +3.6% y/y from +3.4% y/y in Q1.
The German Sep ZEW survey expectations of economic growth unexpectedly rose +2.6 to 37.3, stronger than expectations of a decline to 25.0.
ECB Governing Council member Simkus said, "It is clear that inflation in the Eurozone is currently at the target level, and if we look at the medium term, it is still hovering around 2% or very close to it. Given these trends, the sequence of interest rate cuts by the ECB is very close to the end."
Swaps are discounting a 3% chance for a -25 bp rate cut by the ECB at its next policy meeting on October 30.
US Stock Movers
Strength in chip makers today is leading technology stocks higher. ON Semiconductor (ON) is up more than +2%. Also, Microchip Technology (MCHP), NXP Semiconductors NV (NXPI), GlobalFoundries (GFS), Applied Materials (AMAT), ASML Holding NV (ASML), Texas Instruments (TXN), KLA Corp (KLAC), and Qualcomm (QCOM) are up more than +1%.
Webtoon Entertainment (WBTN) is up more than +29% after Walt Disney said it plans to acquire a 2% equity interest in the company.
Ferguson Enterprises (FERG) is up more than +7% after reporting Q4 revenue of $8.50 billion, stronger than the consensus of $8.41 billion.
Bloom Energy (BE) is up more than +6% after Morgan Stanley raised its price target on the stock to $85 from $44.
Oracle (ORCL) is up more than +4% to lead gainers in the S&P 500 after CBS News reported that the company is among a consortium of firms that would enable TikTok to continue operations in the US if a framework deal is finalized.
Steel Dynamics (STLD) is up more than +4% after forecasting Q3 adjusted EPS of $2.60-$2.64, better than the consensus of $2.58.
Hershey (HSY) is up more than +2% after Goldman Sachs double upgraded the stock to buy from sell with a price target of $222.
Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG) is up more than +2% after its board approves an additional $500 million for its share buyback program.
Dave & Buster's Entertainment (PLAY) is down more than -14% after reporting Q2 adjusted EPS of 40 cents, well below the consensus of 89 cents.
Rocket Lab (RKLB) is down more than -9% after announcing it plans to offer $750 million shares of common stock in an at-the-market offering.
Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) is down more than -7% to lead losers in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 after TD Cowen downgraded the stock to hold from buy.
Ralph Lauren (RL) is down more than -3% after it projected sales to grow at a mid-single-digit percentage annually through fiscal 2028, slower growth than the company has posted in recent quarters.
The New York Times (NYT) is down more than -2% after President Trump said he is bringing a $15 billion defamation and libel suit against the company.
