It also provides asset management, cloud observability, integrated risk management; information technology (IT) service management applications; IT service management product suite for enterprise's employees, customers, and partners; strategic portfolio management product suite; IT operations management product that connects a customer's physical and cloud-based IT infrastructure; IT asset management; and security operations that connects with internal and third party. In addition, the company offers integrated risk management product to manage risk and resilience; environmental, social and governance management product; human resources, legal, and workplace service delivery products; customer service management product; and field service management applications. Further, the company provides app engine product; automation engine; platform privacy and security product; and source-to-pay operations. ServiceNow looks like a high-quality but expensive business: strong margins and steady revenue growth are paired with noticeably stretched valuation multiples. P/S of 10.47, P/B of 12.22, and P/FCF of 33.65 are significantly above the industry median, leaving little room for multiple expansion and making the stock sensitive to any slowdown in growth. P/E of 52.57 is also above the industry level, although it has already declined meaningfully from higher levels in previous periods, which suggests a partial cooling of market expectations. The company’s strength lies in its high gross margin of 76.56%, as well as solid ROE of 14.98% and ROI of 11.44%, meaning the business is able to convert revenue into profit better than many IT peers. At the same time, the trend in operating efficiency is not perfect: operating margin has fallen to 11.40% from higher levels previously, and operating income has dropped noticeably compared with past quarters. Revenue continues to grow and has reached 3.77 billion, while gross profit is also increasing, confirming sustained demand for the company’s products. However, TTM EPS has declined to 0.31, and current profitability looks less consistent than would be desirable to justify such high valuation multiples. The balance sheet does not appear overly burdened by debt overall: debt/equity at 0.13 is low, but long-term debt has increased to 5.44 billion, which adds some caution. Liquidity is weak: current ratio of 0.84 and quick ratio of 0.00 indicate limited short-term flexibility. Equity and assets are growing, and cash on hand remains substantial, so the risk of financial stress is low, but the working capital structure requires attention. There is no dividend, so the investment case is entirely tied to growth and execution quality rather than cash yield. Overall, the fundamentals support a premium valuation, but not strongly enough to justify an aggressive increase in the target price; a moderately cautious downward adjustment seems more appropriate due to expensive multiples and signs of slowing operating momentum.

High-quality but expensive ServiceNow: strong margins and revenue growth are combined with a high valuation, weak liquidity, and signs of slowing profit growth.

In the latest trading session, ServiceNow (NOW) closed at $132.53, marking a +1.04% move from the previous day. The stock's performance was ahead of the S&P 500's daily gain of 0.86%. Elsewhere, the Dow saw an upswing of 0.98%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq appreciated by 0.96%.
Heading into today, shares of the maker of software that automates companies' technology operations had gained 3.08% over the past month, outpacing the Computer and Technology sector's loss of 0.56% and the S&P 500's loss of 1.96%.
The investment community will be closely monitoring the performance of ServiceNow in its forthcoming earnings report. In that report, analysts expect ServiceNow to post earnings of $1.03 per share. ServiceNow (NOW) Outperforms Broader Market: What You Need to Know

Atlassian Corporation TEAM is seeing growing customer interest in its Teamwork Graph as businesses look to use AI across more workflows. The Teamwork Graph connects data from Atlassian applications and other sources to provide context for AI tools. The company says the graph now spans more than 200 billion objects and connections, giving Atlassian a large base of enterprise work data to support its AI strategy.
Atlassian believes the Teamwork Graph can improve the quality and cost of AI responses. Agents using the graph can deliver up to 44% more accurate answers while using 48% fewer tokens. Here, lower token usage can help reduce AI costs, while better answers can improve the usefulness of AI tools. This value is already showing up in customer discussions, with AI and the Teamwork Graph now among the top two reasons customers cite for upgrading to the cloud and adopting the Teamwork Collection.
The Teamwork Graph is also supporting Atlassian's AI monetization efforts. The Teamwork Collection is becoming an important way for customers to adopt AI features, including Rovo. Atlassian said customers are upgrading to get more Rovo credits, which is helping drive higher average revenue per user. Teamwork Collection customers also have four to five times more paid seats per instance than stand-alone Jira or Confluence customers. This suggests that broader adoption of the graph and AI could lead to more seats, higher ARPU and greater cross-sell opportunities.
Atlassian estimates about $14 billion of opportunity within its existing customer base without changing products or pricing. If Atlassian can keep improving Teamwork Graph and use it to drive wider AI adoption, customer upgrades and seat growth, it could support the company's next phase of expansion. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for TEAM's fiscal 2027 and 2028 revenues indicates year-over-year growth of 13% and 14.8%, respectively.
Atlassian Faces Stiff Competition
Atlassian faces stiff competition from other key players in the cloud software industry such as Salesforce CRM and ServiceNow NOW.
Salesforce competes with Atlassian through offerings such as Agentforce, Data Cloud and Slack, which together create a unified ecosystem that connects customer data with integrated AI across systems, apps and devices. In the second quarter of fiscal 2027, Agentforce’s ARR exceeded $1.5 billion, up 240% year over year. Salesforce expects this momentum to continue in fiscal 2027 on the back of robust customer demand for its agentic offerings.
ServiceNow is seeing strong demand for its Agentic AI products as enterprises look to automate more work and improve productivity. The company is expanding AI across IT, customer service, employee service and security. Management said customers now want AI that can complete tasks and deliver clear business value instead of simply assisting employees. This is helping drive adoption of the company's AI offerings. AI annual contract value (ACV) crossed $1 billion during the second quarter of 2026, and ServiceNow expects AI ACV to exceed $1.5 billion by the end of 2026.

ServiceNow NOW shares have jumped 25% in the past three months, outperforming the broader Zacks Computer and Technology sector’s return of 2%, reflecting improving investor confidence in the company’s AI monetization strategy, strong second-quarter 2026 execution and an increasingly diversified growth profile. AI momentum has been another important driver behind NOW’s recent price strength. The company is also benefiting from broadening demand beyond ServiceNow’s traditional IT service-management franchise. Let’s delve deep to find out whether these drivers are enough for investors to take a position in the NOW stock.
Growing AI Monetization Opportunity to Aid NOW’s Prospects
ServiceNow AI surpassed $1 billion in Annual Contract Value (ACV) during the second quarter of 2026, with net new AI ACV growing more than 40% sequentially. ServiceNow’s expanding Agentic AI portfolio is expected to remain the primary catalyst over the long term. Products such as Otto, AI Control Tower, Autonomous Workforce AI specialists, Context Engine, Autonomous Data Analytics and Action Fabric broaden the company’s ability to automate complete enterprise workflows rather than merely provide AI assistance. The company is already tracking ahead of its long-term objective for AI to account for 30% of ACV by 2030, suggesting considerable room for higher consumption and cross-selling as enterprise deployments move from pilots into production.
These factors are expected to drive subscription revenues, which increased 24.5% year over year to $3.88 billion in the second quarter of 2026. Constant-currency (cc) subscription growth of 23% exceeded the high end of guidance by 150 basis points (bps). Current Remaining Performance Obligation (RPO) increased 21.5% in cc, while ServiceNow recorded 123 transactions carrying more than $1 million in net new ACV, up nearly 40% year over year. ServiceNow has also outlined long-term targets of more than $30 billion in subscription revenues.
ServiceNow is benefiting from expanding demand across multiple domains. ITOM featured in 18 of the top 20 second-quarter deals, while security and risk solutions were included in 16. CRM and Industry workflows were also represented in 16 of the top 20 deals, supported by momentum in CPQ, sales and order management. EmployeeWorks deal volumes surged more than 150% sequentially, while RaptorDB Pro deal volume climbed 80% year over year. A 98% renewal rate and increasing adoption of multiple products by large customers underscore the platform’s expanding wallet share.
Cybersecurity represents another important growth avenue for NOW. Integrating Armis’ cyber-asset intelligence and Veza’s identity-governance capabilities with ServiceNow Security Operations creates a broader platform spanning asset visibility, identity security, risk controls and automated responses. NOW’s strong partner base that includes NVIDIA, Microsoft MSFT, AWS and Accenture extends AI Control Tower and Agentic AI capabilities across major enterprise ecosystems, while collaborations with Experian, Lenovo, FedEx and TeamViewer broaden industry use cases.
NOW to Suffer From Stiff Competition, Margin Pressure
ServiceNow has been suffering from investor concerns about increasing AI competition, premium valuation, execution risks around acquisitions and elevated expectations. NOW’s SaaS business model has suffered from strong adoption of AI-native solutions. Intensifying competition from Microsoft, Oracle ORCL and Salesforce CRM has been a headwind for the company. Shares of Oracle have dropped 20.9%, while Microsoft and Salesforce have returned 22% and 41.7%, respectively.

ServiceNow is facing stiff competition from Microsoft, Oracle and Salesforce as these players are investing significantly to deliver enterprise AI agents, workflow orchestration, governance, security, AI copilots and enterprise data integration.
ServiceNow faces near-term margin pressure as it expands its AI and cybersecurity capabilities. The company expects fiscal 2026 subscription gross margin of 81%, with higher usage of hyperscaler partnerships and accelerating AI adoption weighing on profitability. The Armis acquisition alone is expected to reduce full-year subscription gross margin by roughly 25 bps, operating margin by around 75 bps and free cash flow margin by approximately 200 bps.
Acquisition-related execution and balance-sheet risks have also increased. ServiceNow acquired Armis for approximately $7.6 billion and Veza for roughly $1.2 billion, substantially expanding its security portfolio. To help finance Armis, ServiceNow issued $4 billion of senior notes, while commercial paper outstanding totaled $2.1 billion as of June 30, 2026. Acquisition-related costs totaled $101 million in the first six months of 2026, while the transactions substantially increased goodwill and intangible assets.

The consensus mark for NOW’s third-quarter 2026 earnings estimate is currently pegged at $1.03 per share, down four cents over the past 30 days and suggests 7.29% growth over the figure reported in the year-ago quarter.

ServiceNow Jumps 25% in 3 Months: Buy, Sell or Hold the Stock?

Shares of ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW), a cloud-based enterprise software company, jumped last month as investors shook off their fears that artificial intelligence would eliminate the need for traditional software companies.
Salesforce shares popped 33% in August, according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence, following strong quarterly results from fellow enterprise software company Salesforce.

Fears of a "SaaS-pocalypse" were tamed, for now
Investors have been skittish about ServiceNow and other software stocks this year, worried that AI will eliminate the need for traditional software. And while some companies are being disrupted, it's not necessarily the case for ServiceNow and its peers.
The best example of this, and what helped ServiceNow stock jump last month, was Salesforce's recent quarterly results. Salesforce's second-quarter revenue rose to $11.3 billion, ahead of consensus estimates, and its non-GAAP earnings per share of $5.90 far outpaced Wall Street's average estimate.
Salesforce's management also issued strong revenue guidance for its full fiscal 2027, with revenue estimates of about $46.3 billion, at the midpoint, representing a nearly 12% increase from 2026.
Adding to the good news for Salesforce -- and by association, ServiceNow -- was the fact that the company's AI "Agentforce" achieved an annualized revenue run rate of $3.9 billion -- up 210% from the year-ago quarter.
That achievement was particularly important for ServiceNow investors because the company has its own AI agents that operate within its software, automating tasks and streamlining workflows. ServiceNow investors hope that if Salesforce can grow its AI agent revenue and fend off AI competitors, ServiceNow may be able to do the same.
Rising optimism for ServiceNow stock, but volatility is likely
In August, Bank of America analyst Tal Liani raised his price target for ServiceNow stock to $150, up from $130, and maintained a buy rating. More recently, an analyst at BTIG Research raised their price target for ServiceNow to $170 from $150, while maintaining a buy rating.
That's provided some additional optimism for ServiceNow shareholders, but the stock will likely remain volatile until investors settle on whether AI will overpower some software stocks. It's a difficult question to answer, and while I personally think companies like ServiceNow can benefit from AI, I understand that it isn't a closed debate just yet.
ServiceNow shareholders will get more insights when the company reports its third-quarter results in late October. But I suspect that ServiceNow and its peers will continue to experience frequent share price fluctuations as investors process the threat of AI in real time. That doesn't mean ServiceNow shares aren't worth owning, but just know it could be a bit of a ride for a little while longer.

Why ServiceNow Stock Popped 33% Last Month

UiPath’s PATH latest results merit another look after the market has had time to digest them. Shares have fallen 24% since the Sept. 3 release, even though second-quarter fiscal 2027 revenues exceeded expectations and management lifted its annual targets.
The reaction appears less about the reported quarter than the outlook’s magnitude and composition: the fiscal third-quarter revenue midpoint sits below the consensus mark, while the modest ARR-guidance increase leaves investors waiting for clearer AI-driven acceleration. That reset, however, creates a more interesting entry point, provided execution continues.
PATH’s YoY Revenue Growth Beats Expectations
Fiscal second-quarter revenues rose 13.4% year over year to $410.3 million, beating the $397.8 million consensus mark by 3.1%. Revenues nevertheless have declined 1.9% sequentially from $418.4 million. License revenues increased 10.4% year over year to $123.8 million but fell 17.1% from the fiscal first quarter.
Subscription-services revenues advanced 11.6% year over year and 5.2% sequentially to $266.1 million, improving the recurring-revenue mix. Professional services and other revenues surged 81.6% year over year and 25.8% quarter over quarter to $20.3 million, although they remained a small contributor.
PATH’s Margin Expansion Confirms Better Operating Discipline
GAAP gross profit increased 10.9% year over year but declined 3.5% sequentially to $329.7 million. The corresponding gross margin was 80%, down two percentage points both year over year and sequentially. Non-GAAP gross margin similarly contracted to 82% from 84% a year ago and 83% in the prior quarter.
Lower operating expenses offset that pressure. GAAP operating income reached $31.6 million, reversing a $20.2 million loss a year earlier and rising 12.9% sequentially. Operating margin improved to 8% from negative 6% and 7% in the prior year and prior quarter, respectively. This marked UiPath’s fourth consecutive quarter of GAAP profitability.
Non-GAAP operating income climbed 42.9% year over year to $89 million, though it slipped 3.7% sequentially. Its 22% margin expanded five percentage points year over year and held steady quarter over quarter. Adjusted earnings were 15 cents per share, unchanged both year over year and sequentially.
ARR Gains Support the AI Thesis, but Acceleration Is Still Needed
ARR reached $1.938 billion, up 12.5% year over year and 1.9% sequentially. Net new ARR was $37 million, 19.4% above the prior-year quarter but 24.5% below the first quarter’s $49 million. Dollar-based net retention was 109%, improving one percentage point year over year and remaining flat sequentially. Gross retention held at 97%, with attrition concentrated among smaller customers.
AI appeared in 18 of the quarter’s 20 largest deals, suggesting it is becoming central to enterprise purchases. UiPath’s proposition combines probabilistic AI with rules-based automation, while model neutrality and integrations with major coding assistants broaden its relevance. Larger outcome-oriented contracts could lift deal sizes, but evolving transaction-based pricing makes near-term monetization less predictable.
Raised Guidance Is Positive, Yet the Upside Looks Measured
Fiscal third-quarter revenue guidance of $440-$445 million has a $442.5 million midpoint, lower than the $444.3 million Zacks Consensus Estimate. ServiceNow NOW and Salesforce CRM provide useful benchmarks for UiPath’s AI-automation opportunity. ServiceNow embeds AI agents and workflow orchestration across its enterprise platform, giving it a large installed-base advantage and substantial cross-selling reach. Salesforce similarly connects autonomous agents with customer data, applications and workflows through Agentforce, making it a formidable competitor for enterprise automation budgets.
Yet UiPath retains differentiation in deterministic robotic automation, model neutrality and governance across mixed human, software and agent processes. ServiceNow may appeal to customers standardizing IT workflows, while Salesforce is strongest around customer-facing processes. UiPath’s opportunity lies in serving as the controlled execution layer across both domains, especially for complex, regulated operations over the coming investment cycle.
Cash Generation Moderated, but the Balance Sheet Remains Strong
Operating cash flow fell 26.2% year over year and 76.7% sequentially to $30.7 million. Adjusted free cash flow was about $31 million, down 31.1% year over year and 76.2% sequentially, reflecting quarterly timing following a strong first quarter.
UiPath still ended the period with $1.405 billion in cash and investments, down only 1.1% sequentially, and no debt. It also repurchased 2.4 million shares at an average price of $9.63, providing modest support while preserving substantial financial flexibility.
Verdict: The Selloff Makes PATH a Buy
The post-earnings decline has created an attractive entry point for investors willing to tolerate volatility. UiPath is pairing durable recurring-revenue growth with stronger retention, disciplined spending and sustained profitability, while its debt-free balance sheet provides room to keep investing. The market’s concern that general-purpose AI tools could erode traditional automation demand is legitimate, and near-term growth remains measured. However, enterprises still require accuracy, governance and orchestration when automated decisions reach core operations. UiPath’s model-neutral platform is designed for precisely that need. With execution improving and expectations reset after the selloff, the risk-reward balance supports a Buy for patient investors today.

UiPath Slides 24% After Q2 Earnings: Is PATH Stock a Buy?

ServiceNow NOW announced yesterday that it signed a collaboration agreement with Aramco Digital to advance artificial intelligence (AI)-powered enterprise transformation across the broader Aramco ecosystem. Aramco Digital plans to use the ServiceNow AI Platform to standardize and govern digital workflows across its affiliates, subsidiaries and joint ventures spanning more than 50 countries. The collaboration broadens NOW’s opportunity across AI automation, customer experience, shared services and enterprise resource planning (ERP) modernization. It could also strengthen ServiceNow’s competitive position against Salesforce CRM and Microsoft MSFT as enterprises increasingly seek unified platforms for AI governance, workflow automation and business transformation.
The collaboration should deepen ServiceNow’s presence across a large and complex enterprise environment. The ServiceNow AI Platform integrates data, AI, workflows and security across Technology, Core Business, CRM and Industry, and Creator workflows. Its single data fabric and integrated data layer are designed to connect fragmented systems and streamline processes across departments. Wider adoption across the Aramco ecosystem could therefore create opportunities for ServiceNow to attach additional AI, workflow, data, security and automation products as deployments expand across business functions.
ServiceNow’s open architecture could further strengthen its prospects within Aramco’s diverse technology landscape. AI Control Tower is designed to discover, govern and manage AI agents and systems across heterogeneous environments instead of limiting governance to ServiceNow technologies. The company has introduced Action Fabric, which enables NOW and third-party AI systems to securely execute actions through ServiceNow workflows. Context Engine and Autonomous Data Analytics provide governed enterprise information that autonomous agents can use to make decisions and complete tasks. These capabilities could position NOW as a common orchestration layer across Aramco’s multiple applications, AI models and business systems.
The agreement complements ServiceNow’s accelerating AI adoption. ServiceNow AI annual contract value (ACV) crossed $1 billion in the second quarter of 2026, while net new AI ACV increased more than 40% sequentially. Deals containing five or more ServiceNow AI products grew 5.5 times year over year and the number of customers with Agentic AI in production increased ninefold over nine months. Subscription revenues rose 24.5% year over year to $3.88 billion, while current Remaining Performance Obligations (cRPO) and Remaining Performance Obligations (RPO) reached $13.2 billion and $29 billion, respectively. Successful expansion within Aramco could support cross-selling and longer-term subscription commitments.
NOW Faces Tough Competition
Salesforce is pushing aggressively into areas traditionally associated with ServiceNow. Agentforce annual recurring revenues (ARR) reached $1.5 billion in the second quarter of fiscal 2027, while accounts with agents in production increased 70% sequentially. Notably, Agentforce IT Service already has more than 450 customers, including conversions from ServiceNow. CRM is expanding into back-office and supply-chain automation through Agentforce Ops. Its broader platform architecture combines AI, data, integration and business applications across sales, service, marketing, analytics, supply chain and IT service workflows, giving Salesforce a platform that increasingly overlaps with NOW’s enterprise workflow ambitions.
Microsoft poses a significant challenge through its extensive enterprise AI ecosystem. Agent 365 has nearly 40 million agents registered across tens of thousands of companies, while Microsoft 365 Copilot has more than 30 million paid seats. Dynamics 365 exposes more than 650,000 model context protocol (MCP) actions across sales, finance, supply chain, HR and customer service, enabling agents to operate using existing business data, permissions, security controls and audit trails.

FJTSY or NOW: Which Is the Better Value Stock Right Now?

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) is up by +0.37% today, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) is up by +0.34%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) is up by +0.18%. E-mini S&P futures (ESU26) are up +0.40%, and September E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQU26) are up +0.20%.
Stock indices are moving higher today, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 posting 1.5-week highs, and the Dow Jones Industrials rising to a 2-week high. Stocks found support today on comments from Fed Chair Warsh, who said he's impressed by the economy, which appears to have strengthened, and vowed to get inflation back down to the Fed’s 2% target. Today’s upward revision to the University of Michigan’s US Aug consumer sentiment index is also bullish for stocks.

On the negative side, chipmakers and AI-infrastructure stocks are weaker, led by a -7% slide in Marvell Technology after the company forecast Q3 adjusted gross margin below consensus. Also, today’s economic news showed an unexpected downward revision to US 2026 nonfarm payrolls, suggesting the labor market was weaker than previously stated. In addition, the Aug MNI Chicago PMI unexpectedly fell -10.5 to 47.1, weaker than expectations of an increase to 57.9 and the steepest pace of contraction in 8 months.
The University of Michigan US Aug consumer sentiment index was revised upward by +0.7 to 51.7, stronger than expectations of no change at 51.0.
The University of Michigan US Aug 1-year inflation expectations were unexpectedly revised downward to 4.0% from 4.3% versus expectations of an upward revision to 4.4%. The Aug 5-10 year inflation expectations were kept unrevised at 3.3%, right on expectations.
The annual benchmark revisions to 2026 US nonfarm payrolls showed an unexpected decline of -79,000 jobs, indicating a weaker labor market than expectations of a +183,000 increase.
Fed Chair Warsh said he's impressed by the economy, which appears to have strengthened, and said inflation data don't suggest the trend has meaningfully improved. He added that policymakers must be confident inflation will return to their 2% target; otherwise, the Fed has "work to do."
Oct WTI crude oil prices (CLV26) are down nearly -1% today on signs of larger oil supplies leaving the Middle East. Goldman Sachs said oil exports from the Persian Gulf have risen to 15 million to 16 million bpd, about two-thirds of pre-war levels. Crude prices also weakened today on reports that Venezuela is considering leaving OPEC, which could increase the chances of a price war as the remaining members of the cartel compete with one another for customers and market share.
The outlook for strong Q2 earnings is a bullish factor for stocks. The S&P 500 is tracking for earnings growth of almost 32% in Q2, well above projections of +23%, and nearly four times the average earnings growth rate outside of the Covid period since Q4 of 2013, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. AI spending is expected to account for most of earnings, with AI infrastructure stocks set to contribute nearly 60% of the S&P 500's earnings-per-share growth in Q2. So far, earnings results have been positive, with 86% of the 486 S&P 500 companies that have reported Q2 earnings beating estimates, according to Bloomberg data.
The markets are discounting a 56% chance of a +25 bp rate hike at the next FOMC meeting on September 15-16.
Overseas stock markets are mixed today. The Euro Stoxx 50 is up +0.97%. China's Shanghai Composite fell from a 1.5-week high and closed down -0.11%. Japan's Nikkei-225 Stock Average closed up +0.41%.
Interest Rates
September 10-year T-notes (ZNU6) are down by -2 ticks today. The 10-year T-note yield is up +0.4 bp to 4.674%. T-notes are slightly lower today after hawkish comments from Fed Chair Warsh pushed the chances of a Fed rate hike at next month’s FOMC meeting up to 56% from 36% before he spoke. T-notes were also pressured after the University of Michigan US Aug consumer sentiment index was revised higher.
Losses in T-notes are limited after annual revisions to 2026 US payrolls showed the labor market was weaker than initially reported. Also, the Aug MNI Chicago PMI unexpectedly contracted by the most in 8 months, a dovish factor for Fed policy. In addition, the University of Michigan US Aug 1-year inflation expectations were unexpectedly revised downward to 4.0% from 4.3%.
European government bond yields are moving higher today. The 10-year German bund yield rose to a 15-year high of 3.286% and is up +1.2 bp to 3.265%. The 10-year UK gilt yield is up +2.2 bp to 5.052%.
The Eurozone Aug economic confidence index rose +1.3 to a 7-month high of 98.4, stronger than expectations of 97.5.
Markets are discounting a 96% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on September 10.
US Stock Movers
Most of the Magnificent Seven technology stocks, sans Tesla and Nvidia, are moving higher today, a bullish factor for the overall market. Amazon.com (AMZN) is up more than +4%, and
Apple (AAPL), Alphabet (GOOGL), Meta Platforms (META), and Microsoft (MSFT) are up more than +2%.
Most software stocks are climbing today, supporting the broader market. Workday (WDAY) is up more than +5%, and ServiceNow (NOW) and Atlassian Corp (TEAM) are up more than +4%. Also, Salesforce (CRM) is up more than +4% to lead gainers in the Dow Jones Industrials. In addition, Adobe Systems (ADBE), Intuit (INTU), and Microsoft (MSFT) are up more than +1%.
Chipmakers and AI-infrastructure stocks are under pressure today, led by a -7% decline in Marvell Technology (MRVL) after it forecast Q3 adjusted gross margin of 57.5% to 58.5%, the midpoint below the consensus of 58.4%. The iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) is down more than -1%. Also, ARM Holdings (ARM) is down more than -3%, and Analog Devices (ADI), KLA Corp (KLAC), and Applied Materials (AMAT) are down more than -2%. In addition, Nvidia (NVDA), Lam Research (LRCX), Microchip Technology (MU), and Texas Instruments (TXN) are down more than -1%.
Cybersecurity stocks are under pressure today, led by a -7% fall in SentinelOne (S) after forecasting 2027 adjusted EPS of 30 cents to 32 cents, below the consensus of 35 cents. Also, Crowdstrike Holdings (CRWD) is down more than -5%, and Fortinet (FTNT) is down more than -4%. In addition, Palo Alto Networks (PANW) is down more than -3%, and Okta (OKTA), Zscaler (ZS), and Cloudflare (NET) are down more than -1%.
Cryptocurrency-exposed stocks are retreating today, with Bitcoin (^BTCUSD) down more than -1%. Iren Limited (IREN) is down more than -10%, and MARA Holdings (MARA) and Riot Platforms (RIOT) are down more than -6%. Also, Strategy (MSTR) and Galaxy Digital Holdings (GLXY) are down more than -3%, and Circle Internet Group (CRCL) and Coinbase Global (COIN) are down more than -2%.
Elastic NV (ESTC) is up more than +17% after reporting Q1 adjusted EPS of 70 cents, stronger than the consensus of 59 cents, and raising its 2027 adjusted EPS forecast to $3.29 to $3.37 from a previous forecast of $3.21 to $3.29, above the consensus of $3.24.
Gap (GAP) is up more than +13% after raising its 2027 adjusted EPS forecast to $2.35 to $2.45 from a previous forecast of $2.30 to $2.40.
Affirm Holdings (AFRM) is up more than +8% after reporting Q4 revenue of $1.17 billion, better than the consensus of $1.11 billion, and forecasting Q1 revenue of $1.19 billion to $1.22 billion, stronger than the consensus of $1.17 billion.
Take-Two Interactive Software (TTWO) is up more than +2% after a Netflix preview of the company’s new Grand Theft Auto VI video game drew positive reviews.
PayPal Holdings (PYPL) is down more than -11% to lead losers in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 after people with knowledge of the matter said a consortium of Advent and Stripe has decided to abandon its pursuit of the company.
Autodesk (ADSK) is down more than -3% after forecasting Q3 adjusted EPS of $3.04 to $3.09, weaker than the consensus of $3.15.

NOW raised FY26 subscription revenue guidance to $15.76-$15.78 billion, versus its previous $15.735-$15.775 billion range. Constant-currency growth is now expected at 21%, compared with the prior 20.5%-21%. Management specifically credited stronger-than-expected net new ACV, with AI-related demand a major contributor.

Also, a $31 billion joint venture between Sandisk and Kioxia Holdings to ratchet up flash memory production added to the bullish tone in technology stocks. In addition, cybersecurity stocks rallied on Thursday after better-than-expected earnings from Okta and CrowdStrike Holdings, and software stocks rose after Salesforce forecasted revenue above consensus.

Signs of strength in the US labor market are positive for economic growth and stocks after weekly initial unemployment claims unexpectedly fell -4,000 to 203,000, showing a stronger labor market than expectations of an increase to 208,000.
Hawkish Fed comments on Thursday were bearish for stocks and bonds. Kansas City Fed President Jeff Schmid said current Fed policy is not restraining the economy while inflation continues to run above its 2% target. He added that the interest rate setting "might be accommodative on the short end" and that "we've got work to do." Also, Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack said now is the time to act to contain inflation, and "I think it's appropriate for the Fed to put some restraint there to help bring inflation back down to target."
Oct WTI crude oil prices (CLV26) rallied more than +1% on Thursday after a Wall Street Journal report said the US has no interest in returning to the terms of the deal it signed with Iran in June, casting doubt on oil flows from the Middle East returning to normal anytime soon. Crude prices also rose on a Bloomberg report that said Russia was planning to escalate the war in Ukraine, which could disrupt Russian crude output and lower global oil supplies.

Strength in stocks on Thursday curbed safe-haven demand for government debt and weighed on T-note prices. Also, an unexpected decline in weekly US jobless claims was bearish for T-notes. In addition, hawkish Fed comments on Thursday from Kansas City Fed President Jeff Schmid and Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack undercut T-notes when they said interest rates aren’t restraining the economy. Finally, the +1% rally in WTI crude oil on Thursday raised inflation expectations and weighed on T-notes.
Losses in T-notes were limited as short covering emerged ahead of Fed Chair Warsh’s speech at the Fed’s annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on Friday. Also, decent demand for the Treasury’s $44 billion of 7-year T-notes was supportive for T-notes, as the auction had a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.50, above the 10-auction average of 2.48.
European government bond yields were mixed on Thursday. The 10-year German bund yield rose +1.9 bp to 3.253%. The 10-year UK gilt yield fell -0.1 bp to 5.030%.
Eurozone July M3 money supply rose +3.4% y/y, weaker than expectations of +3.5% y/y.
The German Sep GfK consumer confidence index rose +2.8 to a 6-month high of -26.6, stronger than expectations of -29.5.
Markets are discounting a 97% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on September 10.
US Stock Movers
Chipmakers and AI-infrastructure stocks rallied on Thursday after Nvidia reported Q2 revenue of $96.22 billion, well above the consensus of $92.38 billion, and projected fiscal 2028 revenue to grow about 70%. The iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) closed up more than +1%. Nvidia (NVDA) closed up more than +8%, and Intel (INTC) and Broadcom (AVGO) closed up more than +3%. Also, ARM Holdings (ARM), Lam Research (LRCX), Microchip Technology (MCHP), and Texas Instruments (TXN) closed up more than +1%.
Software stocks moved sharply higher on Thursday, led by a +22% surge in Salesforce (CRM), which led gainers in the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrials after it forecast Q3 revenue of $11.42 billion to $11.50 billion, with the midpoint above the consensus of $11.42 billion. Also, ServiceNow (NOW) closed up more than +10%, and Atlassian Corp (TEAM) closed up more than +9%. In addition, Datadog (DDOG) and Autodesk (ADSK) closed up more than +6%, and Adobe Systems (ADBE) closed up more than +5%. Finally, Palantir Technologies (PLTR) closed up more than +4%, International Business Machines (IBM) closed up more than 3%, and Oracle (ORCL) and Workday (WDAY) closed up more than +1%.
Cybersecurity stocks soared on Thursday, following stellar earnings results from Okta and Crowdstrike Holdings. Okta (OKTA) closed up more than +28% after boosting its 2027 revenue forecast to $3.22 billion to $3.23 billion from a previous forecast of $3.19 billion to $3.21 billion, above the consensus of $3.20 billion. Crowdstrike Holdings (CRWD) closed up more than +20% to lead gainers in the Nasdaq 100 after raising its 2027 adjusted operating income forecast to $1.50 billion-$1.51 billion from a previous forecast of $1.45 billion-$1.48 billion, better than the consensus of $1.47 billion. Also, Palo Alto Networks (PANW) closed up more than +12%, and SentinelOne (S) closed up more than +10%. In addition, Fortinet (FTNT) and Zscaler (ZS) closed up more than +9%, and Cloudflare (NET) closed up more than +8%.
Cryptocurrency-exposed stocks moved higher on Thursday after Bitcoin (^BTCUSD) rose more than +1%. Strategy (MSTR) closed up more than +11%, and MARA Holdings (MARA) closed up more than +5%. Also, Coinbase Global (COIN) and Circle Internet Group (CRCL) closed up more than +4%, and Riot Platforms (RIOT) and Galaxy Digital Holdings (GLXY) closed up more than +1%.
Veeva Systems (VEEV) closed up more than +15% after reporting Q2 adjusted EPS of $2.35, above the consensus of $2.22, and raising its 2027 adjusted EPS forecast to $9.21 from a previous forecast of $9.05, stronger than the consensus of $9.06.
Nutanix (NTNX) closed up more than +6% after reporting Q4 revenue of $757.1 million, better than the consensus of $738.1 million.
Dollar General (DG) closed up more than +2% after reporting Q2 net sales of $11.29 billion, stronger than the consensus of $11.19 billion, and raising its 2027 comparable sales forecast to up +2.5% to +2.9% from a previous forecast of +2.2% to +2.7%, higher than the consensus of +2.42%.
Wendy’s (WEN) closed down more than -13% after Reuters reported that Trian Fund Management has no plans to make a bid at this time to take the company private.
Hormel Foods (HRL) closed down more than -10% to lead losers in the S&P 500 after reporting Q3 net sales of $2.96 billion, below the consensus of $3.03 billion, and cutting its full-year net sales forecast to $12.1 billion to $12.2 billion from a previous forecast of $12.2 billion to $12.5 billion, weaker than the consensus of $12.24 billion.
Dollar Tree (DLTR) closed down more than -4% after forecasting Q3 net sales of $5.0 billion to $5.1 billion, the midpoint below the consensus of $5.06 billion.
HP Inc. (HPQ) closed down more than -3% after forecasting Q4 adjusted EPS of 69 cents to 79 cents, the midpoint above the consensus of 67 cents, but without an 8-cent-per-share boost from tariff refunds, the outlook would be below consensus.
