A major consequence of that decision was that the federal government must refund the $166 billion or so it collected from tariffs.
The question now is, which stocks will benefit the most from those refunds?
Because importers paid the tariffs, companies that rely heavily on foreign goods stand to receive the largest refunds. That essentially means blue chip retailers.
Walmart leads the pack on expected refunds
So it's no surprise that Walmart (NASDAQ: WMT) -- the largest U.S. retailer , which relies on imports for about a third of its merchandise -- will benefit the most.
According to an April 10 report by Citi, Walmart's refund from the Trump tariffs will be about $10.2 billion. That's not an insignificant figure, though it's relatively modest compared to the company's revenue, which was about $713 billion last year.
Another giant retailer, Target (NYSE: TGT), is second on the refund list. Citi estimates its refund at $2.2 billion. The company imports about half of its merchandise.
Next on the list, with an estimated $1 billion refund, is Nike (NYSE: NKE). The footwear and clothing behemoth sources the vast majority of its footwear in Asia, particularly Vietnam, Indonesia, and China.
Kohl's (NYSE: KSS) will get back $550 million from the tariffs it paid. Home improvement chain Home Depot (NYSE: HD) will see a similar amount – Citi estimates it at $540 million.
Gap (NYSE: GAP) is due about $400 million, and Macy's (NYSE: M) will get $320 million back.
In all, there were more than 330,000 importers that paid duties on Trump's tariffs.
For companies that paid major tariffs over the past year, refunds could provide a one-time boost to revenue and earnings in the coming quarters.
Yet it may take the government a while to process those refunds. Earlier this month, Walmart CFO John David Rainey said the company doesn't expect the refunds to happen quickly, as the process may be cumbersome. He also noted that any refund Walmart gets would be recognized as earnings from an accounting standpoint. The company reported adjusted operating income of about $8.7 in its fiscal fourth quarter, so a $10 billion refund is certainly significant compared to earnings.
While the refunds are good news for these companies and their shareholders, there remains the thorny fact that many of these retailers passed the tariff cost increases on to customers via higher prices. So, some of them may face lawsuits from customers seeking to recover those funds.
And President Trump has not given up on tariffs, despite the Supreme Court decision. The White House has said it will seek to establish new tariffs under different laws that might pass muster under court rulings.

1 Secret Undervalued Stock You Can Buy That Nobody is Talking About

Both companies operate retail outlets instantly familiar to millions of shoppers.
Also, the two did relatively well in their latest reported fiscal years.
As consumers, we regularly hand over money to retailers in this country. Yet there are selected companies in the sector that turn this relationship around by paying folks to own them.
I'm talking, of course, about shareholder dividends. Last month, two famous and long-standing operators in the sector, Macy's (NYSE: M) and TJ Maxx and Marshalls owner TJX Companies (NYSE: TJX), announced dividend raises. Both hikes were substantial, so they're worth diving into a bit to determine whether they support the buy case for the two retail stocks. Here's what I think.

1. Macy's
In advance of its latest earnings release, Macy's declared its dividend raise. The company said its investor payout would be getting a 5% enhancement, for a new quarterly total of just over $0.19 per share.
Macy's is a leaner operation these days because it's been pursuing its "bold new chapter" strategy. The plan is to reduce the company's footprint by selling off chunks of its considerable (and often quite valuable) real estate holdings. The program seems to be closer to the end than the beginning, as fewer transactions were recorded in the company's fiscal 2025. With that, the gains from such sales tumbled to $3 million from fiscal 2024's $41 million.
A shrinking footprint means fewer stores to collect revenue. Not surprisingly, the company's net sales slumped in fiscal 2025 compared with 2024, though not by a scary amount (2.4% to $21.8 billion). In a more encouraging development, comparable sales, a key metric in the retail trade, ticked up 1.5%. That represented a return to annual growth for the company.
The company was also well in the black on the bottom line for the year, although net income not under generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) fell by 14% to $643 million ($2.32 per share).
On a negative note, guidance wasn't impressive, with the company forecasting a dip in fiscal 2026 revenue to $21.4 billion to under $21.7 billion, and "comps" ranging from a decline of 0.5% to a gain of 0.5% on the previous year's figure. Per share, adjusted net income should land at $1.90 to $2.10 per share.
That, to me, is telling. It seems that even a leaner and more focused Macy's will still have an uphill climb as a traditional retailer in a world swarming with aggressive online competitors. While I admire the improvements the company has made, I'd pass on the stock.
Macy's raised dividend was dispensed on April 1 to investors of record as of March 13. It yields a relatively generous 4.2% at the most recent closing price, which places it in high-yield dividend territory.
2. TJX Companies
A retail stock that looks more appealing is discount specialist TJX. One well-liked item the company hasn't been marking down is its quarterly distribution -- at the end of March, the company announced no less than a 13% dividend raise, pushing up the per-share payout to $0.48. The company didn't hesitate to add that this is its 29th dividend raise in the last 30 years.
TJX's announcement came more than a month after the company's fourth-quarter and full-year earnings release, which covered its fiscal 2026. Comparable sales saw a pleasant 5% lift that year, helping net sales grow by 7% over fiscal 2025 to nearly $60.4 billion. GAAP net income experienced a more pronounced lift, rising by 13% to almost $5.5 billion ($4.87 per share).
Challenges such as tariffs and inflation were foremost in the American consumer's mind last year, which helped drive business to bargain outlets like those operated by TJX. Though this economy isn't out of the woods yet, management seems to be preparing for a more modest fiscal 2027. It guided for comparable sales growth of only 2% to 3% and per-share net income of $4.93 to $5.02 -- which would be 3% higher year over year at most.
Investors sold out of TJX in the wake of that earnings report, and the guidance was a key reason for this. Although I wouldn't be quite so discouraged, as the company continues to expect some level of growth and our economy could still take some real hits, I don't see a spectacular future for TJX. There are stocks with greater potential elsewhere.
There's still a chance for market players to take advantage of TJX's dividend raise. It kicks in with the next payment, scheduled for June 4, for stockholders of record as of May 14. The $0.48 per share would yield a theoretical 1.2%.

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) on Wednesday closed down -1.36%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) closed down -1.63%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) closed down -1.43%. March E-mini S&P futures (ESH26) fell -1.42%, and March E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQH26) fell -1.45%.
Stocks sold off on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling to a 3.75-month low. Stocks retreated on Wednesday after US Feb producer prices rose more than expected, a sign of sticky price pressures. Stocks added to their losses today after WTI crude oil prices (CLJ26) whipsawed higher on signs of escalation of the Iran war after Iran said it will target energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE in retaliation for US and Israeli airstrikes on its South Pars gas field and its Asaluyeh oil industry facilities.

Stocks extended their losses Wednesday afternoon as bond yields soared after Fed Chair Powell said higher energy prices will push up overall inflation and that, if we don't see progress in reducing inflation, we "won't see a rate cut." The 10-year T-note yield rose +5 bp to 4.25%.
US MBA mortgage applications fell -10.9% in the week ended March 13, with the purchase mortgage sub-index up +0.9% and the refinancing mortgage sub-index down -18.5%. The average 30-year fixed rate mortgage rose +11 bp to 6.30% from 6.19% the prior week.
US Feb PPI final demand rose +0,7% m/m and +3.4% y/y, stronger than expectations of +0.3% m/m and +3.0% y/y. Feb PPI ex-food and energy rose +0.5% m/m and +3.9% y/y, stronger than expectations of +0.3% m/m and +3.7% y/y, with the +3.9% y/y gain the largest year-on-year increase in 13 months.
US Jan factory orders rose +0.1% m/m, right on expectations.
As expected, the FOMC voted 11-1 to keep the fed funds target range unchanged at 3.50% to 3.75% and said, "US economic activity has been expanding at a solid pace, and inflation remains somewhat elevated."
The Fed boosted its 2026 US GDP forecast to 2.4% from 2.3% and raised its 2026 US core PCE projection to 2.7% from 2.5%.
The FOMC kept its year-end 2026 federal funds rate projection at 3.375%, implying one quarter point (25 bp) interest rate cut this year.
The war against Iran entered its nineteenth day on Wednesday with no signs of easing as Iran stepped up attacks on its Middle Eastern neighbors in retaliation for the killing of its security chief, Ali Larijani, in an Israeli strike. Iran today launched fresh waves of missiles and drone attacks, targeting the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and Israel, with Qatar reporting “extensive damage” at the world’s largest natural gas export plant at Ras Laffan Industria City.
Crude oil prices remain high despite attempts to boost global supplies. The IEA last Wednesday released 400 million barrels from emergency oil stockpiles and said the war against Iran is disrupting 7.5% of global oil supply, and the conflict will cut global oil supply by 8 million bpd this month. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz, through which about a fifth of the world’s oil and natural gas flows, has choked off oil and gas flows due to Iran’s attacks on shipping in the waterway and forced Gulf producers to cut output because they can’t export from the region. Iran has attacked about 20 vessels in the Persian Gulf and near Hormuz since the conflict began. Goldman Sachs warns that crude prices could exceed the 2008 record high of close to $150 a barrel if flows through the Strait of Hormuz remain depressed through March.
The markets are discounting a 0% chance for a -25 bp FOMC rate cut at the April 28-29 policy meeting.
Overseas stock markets settled mixed on Wednesday. The Euro Stoxx 50 fell from a 1-week high and closed down -0.56%. China's Shanghai Composite recovered from a 6-week low and closed up +0.32%. Japan's Nikkei Stock 225 closed up sharply by +2.87%.
Interest Rates
June 10-year T-notes (ZNM6) on Wednesday closed down by -14.5 ticks. The 10-year T-note yield rose +5.0 bp to 4.249%. T-notes gave up early gains on Wednesday and turned lower after US Feb producer prices rose more than expected, a hawkish factor for Fed policy. Also, higher inflation expectations weighed on T-notes after the 10-year breakeven inflation rate rose to a 6.5-month high of 2.422% on Wednesday.
T-note prices fell to their low on Wednesday afternoon after the FOMC kept interest rates unchanged and raised its 2026 US GDP and inflation forecasts, signaling a hawkish Fed policy. Also, comments from Fed Chair Powell undercut T-notes when he said there will be no Fed rate cuts unless there is progress on inflation.
European government bond yields moved higher on Wednesday. The 10-year German bund yield rose +3.4 bp to 2.940%. The 10-year UK gilt yield rose +4.5 bp to 4.738%.
Swaps are discounting a 3% chance of a -25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting this Thursday.
US Stock Movers
The Magnificent Seven technology stocks closed lower on Wednesday, weighing on the overall market. Amazon.com (AMZN) closed down more than -2%, and Tesla (TSLA), Nvidia (NVDA), Alphabet (GOOGL), Apple (AAPL), Meta Platforms (META), and Microsoft (MSFT) closed down more than -1%.

Swaps are discounting a 3% chance of a -25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting this Thursday.
US Stock Movers
Mining stocks are falling today, with gold prices down more than -2%, copper down more than -3%, and silver down more than -4%. Coeur Mining (CDE) are down more than -6%, and Anglogold Ashanti Ltd (AU) is down more than -5%. Also, Barrick Mining (B), Southern Copper (SCCO), and Hecla Mining (HL) are down more than -4%, and Newmont Mining (NEM) and Freeport-McMoRan (FCX) are down more than -3%.
Cryptocurrency-exposed stocks are falling today, with Bitcoin (^BTCUSD) down more than -4%. Strategy (MSTR) is down more than -5% to lead losers in the Nasdaq 100. Also, Coinbase Global (COIN), Galaxy Digital Holdings (GLXY), and Riot Platforms (RIOT) are down more than -3%. In addition, MARA Holdings (MARA) is down more than -1%.
Building stocks and building supplies are moving lower today, with the 10-year Y-note yield up +3 bp to 4.23%, undercutting home-buying prospects. Builders Firstsource (BLDR) is down more than -3%, and DR Horton (DHI), Lennar (LEN), Pulte Group (PHM), KB Home (KBH), Toll Brothers (TOL), and Home Depot (HD) are down more than -1%.
Optical fiber companies are moving higher today after speaking of accelerating demand for their products at the Optical Fiber Communications Conference. Lumentum (LITE) and Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI) are up more than +10%. Also, Coherent (COHR) is up more than +6%, and Corning (GLW) is up more than +3%.
SailPoint (SAIL) is down more than -12% after forecasting 2027 revenue of $1.26 billion to $1.27 billion, below the consensus of $1.28 billion.
Rocket Lab (RKLB) is down more than -7% after filing to sell as much as $1 billion worth of shares of common stock.
Trade Desk (TTD) is down more than -5% to lead losers in the S&P 500, adding to Wednesday’s -7% decline, after Adweek said Publicis was telling clients to avoid working with the company after it failed an audit conducted by a third-party consultant evaluating Trade Desk’s fees and spending.
General Mills (GIS) is down more than -1% after reporting Q3 adjusted EPS of 64 cents, weaker than the consensus of 74 cents.
Swarmer (SWMR) is up more than +77% on speculation that a shift in US defense spending to more low-cost drones will boost demand for the company’s drone software.
Williams-Sonoma (WSM) is up more than +4% to lead gainers in the S&P 500 after reporting Q4 adjusted EPS of $3.04, stronger than the consensus of $2.92.
Grail Inc. (GRAL) is up more than +5% after TD Cowen upgraded the stock to buy from hold with a price target of $65.
Constellation Energy (CEG) is up more than +4% to lead gainers in the Nasdaq 100 after BNP Paribas initiated coverage on the stock with a recommendation of outperform and a price target of $407.
Macy’s (M) is up more than +4% after reporting Q4 net sales of $7.64 billion, above the consensus of $7.51 billion, and forecasting full-year net sales of $21.40 billion to $21.65 billion, better than the consensus of 21.11 billion.
Lululemon Athletica (LULU) is up more than +3% after reporting Q4 net revenue of $3.64 billion, above the consensus of $3.58 billion.
Constellation Brands (STZ) is up more than +1% after Citigroup upgraded the stock to buy from neutral with a price target of $175.
