The FlexShares STOXX Global Broad Infrastructure Index Fund ETF is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Tuesday, with over 392,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 72,000. Shares of NFRA were up about 1% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Tuesday were Coreweave, trading up about 16% with over 35.1 million shares changing hands so far this session, and AT&T, off about 0.6% on volume of over 16.3 million shares. Cheniere Energy is lagging other components of the FlexShares STOXX Global Broad Infrastructure Index Fund ETF Tuesday, trading lower by about 5.5%.

KGEI vs. LNG: Which Stock Is the Better Value Option?

Cheniere Energy, Inc. LNG has strengthened its position in the global liquefied natural gas (“LNG”) market by reaching two significant milestones. According to the press release from the Houston, TX-based oil and gas storage and transportation company, it announced the substantial completion of the Corpus Christi Liquefaction Stage 3 Project (CCL Stage 3).
These achievements highlight Cheniere’s expanding production capacity, strong project-execution capabilities and growing importance in the global LNG supply chain. For investors, the milestones could support the company’s long-term growth profile, although LNG market conditions and the capital-intensive nature of the business remain important factors to watch.
CCL Stage 3 Expands Cheniere’s Production Capacity
A key development is the substantial completion of CCL Stage 3. On Aug. 28, 2026, Bechtel Energy, Inc., Cheniere’s engineering, procurement and construction contractor, handed over care, custody and control of the seventh and final train of the project to Cheniere.
The company issued full notice to proceed on CCL Stage 3 in June 2022, while the first LNG production from the project’s first train was achieved in December 2024. The seven-train project is expected to increase Cheniere’s LNG production capacity by more than 20%, bringing total capacity to approximately 56 million tons per annum (mtpa).
The additional capacity is particularly important because it provides Cheniere with a larger platform from which to serve international LNG demand. More production capacity can also improve the company’s ability to capitalize on long-term LNG supply agreements and global demand for natural gas.
Strong Project Execution Could Support Investor Confidence
Cheniere highlighted that CCL Stage 3 was delivered safely, on budget and ahead of schedule. This is an important positive for investors because large LNG projects typically require substantial capital investment and complex construction and commissioning activities.
Completing the project ahead of schedule could allow Cheniere to bring incremental production capacity online sooner than initially expected. At the same time, delivering the project within budget helps reduce the risk of cost overruns that can weigh on returns from large infrastructure investments.

Since producing its first LNG cargo in 2016, Cheniere has supplied more than 340 million tons of LNG globally. The company’s LNG platform now represents more than 10% of total global LNG capacity.
Reaching 5,000 cargoes in just 10 years is a notable operational achievement. More importantly, the milestone demonstrates the scale Cheniere has built within a relatively short period. The company’s extensive operating experience, established export infrastructure and customer relationships could help support its position as global demand for LNG continues to evolve.
Why the Developments Matter for LNG Investors

Cheniere Energy Expands LNG Capacity With CCL Stage 3 Completion

By now you may have heard the news: Elon Musk's Space Exploration Technologies (NASDAQ: SPCX) company is coming to Louisiana -- and bringing a pile of cash along for the ride.
On Aug. 25, SpaceX said it planned to develop a high-volume launch facility for Starship on the Louisiana Gulf Coast. The site will host 10 Starship launch pads, deep-water shipping ports and vehicle processing facilities for receiving cargo, and an airport, and will cost $100 billion to build. It won't all be spent at once, of course, but construction will begin in 2027, with the first launch pad expected to be operational by 2029, and further work continuing after that.

Arguably even more important than the infrastructure is the location chosen for Starbase Louisiana.
As far back as May, speculation began floating around that SpaceX was interested in Louisiana. One notable post on X (coincidentally, also owned by Elon Musk and part of SpaceX) said that SpaceX "may have acquired or is acquiring 136k acres (212 sq miles) of marshland" on the Louisiana coast. In a flash of insight, this poster observed that the site in question had access to natural gas pipelines owned by Cheniere Energy (NYSE: LNG) and ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM) subsidiary Golden Pass LNG.

And why is that important? Well, consider that every Starship launched consumes about 1,040 metric tons of rocket fuel.
Now, natural gas is primarily composed of methane (as much as 97%). Once purified to remove contaminants such as CO2, oxygen, nitrogen, and other gases, it can be cooled to yield liquid methane -- itself the primary component of methalox rocket fuel.
Translation: SpaceX is building its new Starbase atop two gas lines that already exist, and that deliver straight to Elon Musk's doorstep all the rocket fuel his Starships will ever need.
What this means to investors
Following SpaceX's confirmation of speculation that it will build its second-ever Starbase in Louisiana, many commenters rushed in to opine on the financial wisdom of the move and on SpaceX's ability to raise the $100 billion it expects to spend to complete the project.
Neither of which worries me.
SpaceX has a market capitalization of $1.9 trillion just a little more than two months after its initial public offering (IPO) in June. More importantly, according to the latest data from S&P Global Market Intelligence, SpaceX already has $100 billion in the bank. If Elon Musk were so inclined, he could literally pre-pay to build Starbase Louisiana today and then take all the time he needs to get the 10 launch pads up and running.
As I've stated before, I'm much more concerned about the artificial intelligence (AI) side of SpaceX's business, and the incredible rate at which it's burning cash. (S&P estimates more than $50 billion in negative free cash flow this year, for example -- and twice that next year.) Until that changes, I've honestly got zero interest in investing in SpaceX per se.
But that doesn't mean there's no other way to profit from this Louisiana SpaceX project.
A better way to make money off of SpaceX
I refer, of course, to the two companies we now know will be profiting directly from SpaceX's project in Louisiana by selling SpaceX the rocket fuel it needs for its Starships: Exxon and Cheniere.
Unlike SpaceX, Cheniere stock is profitable, generating $2.9 billion in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) earnings and $2.8 billion in positive free cash flow (FCF) during the past 12 months. Likewise, Exxon -- on an even grander scale. During the past 12 months, Exxon earned $32.8 billion and generated $30.6 billion in FCF.
In terms of valuation, both Cheniere and Exxon stocks trade at about 20 times earnings and 21 times FCF. Of the two, I'm inclined to prefer Exxon over Cheniere for its lighter debt load (relative to both market capitalization and earnings), as well as its superior dividend yield of 2.6% -- triple Cheniere's 0.8% dividend yield.
Both stocks, though, stand to benefit mightily from an increase in liquefied natural gas purchases by SpaceX as it constructs Starbase Louisiana -- and both look to me like better bargains than SpaceX stock itself.

Cheniere Energy, Inc. LNG reported second-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of $3.02 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.89 by 4.5%. Higher liquefied natural gas ("LNG") volumes and stronger margins supported the quarter. However, adjusted earnings decreased 58.6% from the year-ago quarter, primarily reflecting the exclusion of significant non-cash derivative fair-value gains from the adjusted figure.
TX-based LNG producer and exporter company’s total revenues of $5.73 billion beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $5.03 billion by 14% and rose 23.5% year over year, driven by a 9.7% increase in LNG revenues.
Cheniere Energy, Inc. Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise
LNG volumes loaded reached 672 trillion British thermal units (TBtu), up 22.2% year over year, as new Corpus Christi Stage 3 capacity and improved operating reliability lifted production.
LNG's Export Volumes Climb on Strong Operations
Cheniere exported 184 cargoes in the quarter, up 19.5% from 154 a year earlier. The company also reported second-quarter production records at both the Corpus Christi and Sabine Pass facilities.
Corpus Christi Stage 3 continued to ramp ahead of schedule. Midscale Train 6 achieved substantial completion in June, while commissioning of Train 7 began and first LNG was expected imminently at the time of the earnings release. Management also cited reduced downtime and improved maintenance execution as contributors to production outperformance.
Cheniere Energy's Higher Margins Lift Cash Generation
Consolidated adjusted EBITDA was $1.8 billion, up 27.4% from $1.42 billion a year ago. The increase reflected higher total margins on LNG delivered, driven by increased volumes recognized in income and higher margins per MMBtu.
Distributable cash flow totaled $1.17 billion, compared with about $920 million in the prior-year quarter, an increase of 27.2%. The company recognized 660 TBtu of LNG volumes in the quarter, including commissioning volumes, with some cargo deliveries shifted into the third quarter because of rerouting from Europe to Asia.
LNG's Costs Reflect Favorable Derivative Movements
Total operating costs and expenses declined 31.7% year over year to $1.44 billion. Cost of sales fell 60.7% to $439 million, with the quarter including about $2.4 billion of gains from changes in the fair value of commodity derivatives before contractual delivery or termination.
Operating and maintenance expense declined 4.7% to $533 million, while depreciation, amortization and accretion expense rose 15.5% to $380 million.
Cheniere Energy Advances Its LNG Growth Projects
The Corpus Christi Stage 3 project was 98.4% complete as of June 30, 2026. Train 7 is expected to reach substantial completion in the second half of 2026, completing the seven-train Stage 3 project.
The Midscale Trains 8 and 9 project was 48.3% complete and remains targeted for substantial completion in the second half of 2028. Separately, Sabine Pass Expansion Phase 1 is fully commercialized and has an approximately $4.7 billion EPC contract with Bechtel. The project is designed to add more than 6 million tons per annum of production capacity, with an early-2027 final investment decision expected after regulatory approvals.
LNG Raises 2026 Financial and Production Guidance
Cheniere raised its 2026 consolidated adjusted EBITDA guidance to $7.90-$8.40 billion from $7.25-$7.75 billion. Distributable cash flow guidance increased to $5.30-$5.80 billion from $4.75-$5.25 billion.
The company also tightened its 2026 production outlook to 53-54 million tons from 52-54 million tons. Management said the 0.5-million-ton increase in the production midpoint contributed about $300 million to the guidance increase. Higher margins on spot sales and optimization activities also supported the revised outlook, while less than 1 million tons of 2026 volumes remained unsold.
Cheniere Energy Continues Shareholder Returns
This Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) company deployed approximately $884 million under its capital allocation plan during the quarter. It repurchased about 2.2 million shares for approximately $550 million and declared a quarterly dividend of 55.5 cents per share, payable on Aug. 18, 2026. The company invested about $1.1 billion in growth capital during the quarter, including $219 million funded with equity. As of June 30, 2026, Cheniere had $1.10 billion in cash and cash equivalents and total available liquidity of $7.48 billion, including $5.96 billion of available credit commitments. Its net long-term debt amounted to $22.63 billion, with a debt-to-capitalization of 66.3%.
Important Earnings at a Glance
While we have discussed LNG’s second-quarter results in detail, let us take a look at three other key reports in this space.
Houston, TX-based oil and gas equipment and services provider Halliburton HAL posted second-quarter 2026 adjusted net income per share of 55 cents, marginally beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 54 cents. The outperformance was backed by year-over-year revenue growth. However, the bottom line was flat compared with the prior-year level.
As of June 30, 2026, Halliburton had approximately $2 billion in cash and cash equivalents and $7.1 billion in long-term debt, representing a debt-to-capitalization of 39%.
Fort Worth, TX-based oil and gas exploration and production company Range Resources Corporation RRC reported second-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of 79 cents per share, up 19.7% from 66 cents a year ago. Range Resources’ bottom line topped the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 56 cents by 41.1%. Strong quarterly results are driven by higher production and improved price realization.
The company’s net debt was $880.8 million at June 30, 2026, down 28% from $1.22 billion at year-end 2025. Range Resources repurchased $78 million of shares and paid $24 million in dividends during the quarter.
Houston, TX-based oil and gas storage and transportation company Kinder Morgan, Inc. KMI reported second-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of 37 cents per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 31 cents by 19.35%. Earnings increased 32.1% from 28 cents per share in the year-ago quarter. Strong quarterly results benefited from broad-based segment growth, led by higher natural gas transportation and gathering volumes. Natural gas transport volumes rose 7%, while gathering volumes increased 26%.
As of June 30, 2026, Kinder Morgan reported $89 million in cash and cash equivalents. Kinder Morgan’s net debt stood at $32.03 billion at quarter-end. The net debt-to-adjusted EBITDA ratio improved to 3.6X from 3.8X at the end of 2025.
