EQT Corporation EQT is trying to convert rising electricity consumption into contracted gas demand rather than simply chasing higher production. The strategy centers on power plants, data centers, pipeline access and liquefied natural gas (LNG) exposure.
That framing matters for investors. New demand can help Appalachian gas only if projects move from proposals to funded, permitted and contracted infrastructure.
EQT Targets Power Demand With Long-Term Contracts
EQT’s clearest power-linked step is a 10-year agreement to supply 325,000 Dekatherm (Dth) per day of natural gas to the planned CPV Shay Energy Center in Doddridge County, WV. The facility is expected to enter service as early as 2031.
The contract links pricing to PJM power markets rather than a conventional gas index. At recent forward prices, that structure is expected to provide a premium to local gas indexes and reduce reliance on Appalachian basin pricing.
How EQT Connects Data Centers to Gas Growth
Management is tracking more than 45 Appalachian demand and pipeline takeaway projects totaling nearly 20 Bcf per day of potential demand. The opportunity set includes power generation, data center-related load growth and new outlets for regional supply.
The key word is potential. Many projects are still under evaluation, which means EQT’s demand story depends on customer commitments and commercial structures that can support financing and construction.
Range Resources Corporation RRC is relevant in this context because Appalachian producers face a similar investor question. Regional gas values improve most when new demand and takeaway capacity absorb supply inside or near the basin.
EQT’s LNG Exposure Broadens Its Demand Base
EQT also signed a five-year LNG offtake agreement for 0.5 million tonnes per annum beginning in 2028. The arrangement sources LNG from various Gulf Coast facilities and accelerates EQT’s exposure to export-linked markets.
The agreement is projected to add about $45 million to 2028 free cash flow at recent strip prices. For EQT, LNG exposure broadens the demand base beyond local power and pipeline projects and adds a route to international natural gas markets.
Cheniere Energy, Inc. LNG offers a useful reference point for the broader LNG theme because it is tied to liquefaction and export infrastructure. EQT’s approach is different, as it seeks LNG exposure while remaining primarily an Appalachian natural gas producer.
Why EQT’s Project Pipeline Depends on Execution
The long-duration demand story is not immediate. Major power, pipeline and data center projects can require three to five years to build, and CPV Shay itself may not begin until 2031.
Permitting, construction timing, financing and customer commitments will determine how much of the project pipeline becomes real demand. Delays could defer pricing benefits and limit the ability to turn emerging demand into a material earnings driver.
EQT’s Weak Momentum Offsets Emerging Demand Themes
The bottom line is that EQT has assembled several demand-linked catalysts, but they remain longer dated. Power contracts, LNG exposure and data center-related load growth can support future outlets for Appalachian gas only if the infrastructure cycle advances.

How EQT Is Positioning for Data Center, Power & Global LNG Demand

Williams' board of directors has approved a regular dividend of $0.525 per share, or $2.10 annualized, on the company's common stock, payable on Sept. 28, 2026, to holders of record at the close of business on Sept. 11, 2026. SLB N.V. SLB reported second-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of 55 cents, which beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 51 cents by 7.84%. The bottom line declined 26% from 74 cents in the year-ago quarter.
The oilfield services giant recorded quarterly revenues of $8.97 billion, which topped the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $8.71 billion by around 3%. The top line increased 5% year over year from $8.55 billion.
The better-than-expected quarterly results were primarily driven by growth in Digital and Production Systems, along with broad-based gains outside the Middle East. As of June 30, 2026, digital annualized recurring revenues reached $1.04 billion, up 15% from the prior-year figure of $904 million.

SLB's Geographic Mix Supports Growth
International revenues were $6.67 billion, down 3% year over year. North America revenues increased 36% year over year to $2.24 billion. ChampionX contributed $870 million in quarterly revenues.

Digital Momentum Lifts SLB Results
Digital revenues increased 18% year over year to $697 million from $591 million in the year-ago quarter. Growth was driven by stronger Digital Exploration sales in Brazil and Indonesia, and wider adoption of Digital Operations. Lower sales of permanent licenses caused a minor dip in Platforms and Applications, which was slightly offset by higher SaaS-based revenues.
The segment's pretax operating income increased 27% year over year to $194 million. Pretax operating margin expanded 187 basis points to 27.8%, supported by exploration data license sales and improved profitability in Digital Operations and Platforms and Applications.
SLB Core Segments Face Uneven Trends
Reservoir Performance revenues declined 8% year over year to $1.56 billion from $1.69 billion recorded in the year-ago quarter, as lower evaluation, stimulation and intervention activity in the Middle East offset stronger activity in Europe and Africa, and Asia. Pretax operating income fell 26% to $232 million.
Well Construction revenues decreased 7% year over year to $2.74 billion from $2.96 billion recorded a year ago. Pretax operating income dropped 24% to $417 million. Middle East disruptions remained the main pressure, partly offset by increased offshore drilling in Latin America and improved U.S. land activity.
Production Systems Strengthens SLB's Quarter
Production Systems revenues increased 29% year over year to $3.77 billion from $2.93 billion. The ChampionX production chemicals and artificial lift businesses contributed $865 million. Excluding the acquisition, segment revenues declined 1% year over year.
Pretax operating income increased 19% to $586 million, while margin contracted 120 basis points year over year to 15.5%. Margin shrank due to weak results in surface production systems and completions, but profit from ChampionX’s production chemical and lift businesses partially offset the decline.
SLB Cash Flow & Capital Returns Improve
Cash flow from operations was $1.36 billion in the second quarter, while free cash flow totaled $716 million. SLB ended June with $4.07 billion in cash and short-term investments and $11.14 billion in long-term debt.
The company repurchased 12 million shares for $648 million during the quarter. Its board approved a quarterly cash dividend of 29.5 cents per share, payable Oct. 8, 2026, to shareholders of record as of Sept. 2.
Data Center Growth & SLB's Outlook
Data Center Solutions revenues reached $186 million, increasing 80% year over year. First-half revenues increased 63% to $327 million. Management expects the business to exceed a $1 billion annualized revenue run rate by year-end. SLB expects Data Center Solutions to surpass a $2 billion annualized revenue run rate exiting 2027.
The company maintained its 2026 capital investment guidance at approximately $2.5 billion, covering capital expenditures, exploration data costs and Asset Performance Solutions investments.

SLB Q2 Earnings Beat Estimates on Digital & Production Systems Growth

Kinder Morgan, Inc. KMI reported second-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of 37 cents per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 31 cents by 19.35%. Earnings increased 32.1% from 28 cents in the year-ago quarter.
Revenues increased 10.8% year over year to $4.48 billion from the prior year’s figure of $4.04 billion. Revenues surpassed the consensus estimate of $4.29 billion by 4.43%.
Strong quarterly results benefited from broad-based segment growth, led by higher natural gas transportation and gathering volumes. Natural gas transport volumes rose 7%, while gathering volumes increased 26%.

KMI's Natural Gas Business Leads Growth
Natural Gas Pipelines adjusted segment earnings before depreciation, depletion and amortization (EBDA) expenses increased to $1.46 billion from $1.35 billion a year earlier. Higher contributions from the Texas Intrastate system and gathering assets supported the improvement.
Transportation volumes averaged 47,886 billion British thermal unit per day (BBtu/d) compared with 44,818 BBtu/d in the prior-year quarter. Growth reflected higher LNG deliveries on the Tennessee Gas Pipeline, stronger Texas Intrastate demand, higher export volumes to Mexico and increased power-generation demand in Arizona.
Gathering volumes advanced to 4,637 BBtu/d from 3,692 BBtu/d. KinderHawk volumes rose 54%, supported by increased Haynesville activity. Management noted that the system is effectively full and is adding 1 billion cubic feet per day of treating capacity.
Kinder Morgan's Other Segments Advance
Products Pipelines adjusted segment EBDA increased to $339 million from $289 million. Higher commodity prices and stronger butane blending volumes and rates more than offset weaker transportation activity.
Due to a temporary disruption of the West Coast supply and higher commodity prices, total refined product volumes declined 5% to 1.62 million barrels per day (MMBbl/d) from the year-ago figure of 1.71 MMBbl/d. Crude and condensate volumes fell 16% to 421,000 barrels per day (Bbl/d), largely because the Double H system was converted from crude oil to natural gas liquids service.
Terminals adjusted segment EBDA rose to $309 million from $300 million. Higher liquids terminal rates, ancillary fees and favorable commodity pricing supported results. Liquids utilization was 93%, while the Jones Act tanker fleet remained fully contracted for 2026.
CO2 adjusted segment EBDA increased to $207 million from $145 million. Total net oil production increased 10% to 28,040 Bbl/d, driven by a 15% rise in SACROC production. The realized weighted average oil price increased to $73.78 per barrel from $67.60, while the realized weighted average NGL price was $33.38 per barrel, higher than the $32.08 per barrel recorded a year earlier.
KMI's Cost Profile Supports Profit Growth
Total operating costs, expenses and other expenditures increased 8.3% year over year to $3.13 billion. Costs of sales rose to $1.41 billion from $1.21 billion, while operations and maintenance expenses increased to $806 million from $773 million.
Operating income increased 16.8% to $1.35 billion. The operating margin expanded to 30.1% from 28.5%, reflecting revenue growth that outpaced increases in operating expenses.
Adjusted EBITDA reached a second-quarter record of $2.20 billion, up 12% year over year. Net income attributable to KMI increased 21% to $867 million, while reported earnings rose to 39 cents per share from 32 cents.
Kinder Morgan Expands Project Pipeline
The project backlog stood at $9.6 billion at the end of the quarter, down from $10.1 billion sequentially after approximately $660 million of expansion projects entered service. Natural gas projects represented about 92% of the backlog.
The board also granted contingent approval to nearly $400 million of projects that will enter the backlog after contract execution. Management expects to sanction significant additional projects from an opportunity set exceeding $10 billion during the second half of 2026.
Kinder Morgan's Cash Flow & Balance Sheet
Cash flow from operations was $1.96 billion in the quarter. Meanwhile, free cash flow was $978 million and free cash flow after dividends reached $313 million.
As of June 30, 2026, KMI reported $89 million in cash and cash equivalents. Net debt stood at $32.03 billion at quarter-end. The net debt-to-adjusted EBITDA ratio improved to 3.6X from 3.8X at the end of 2025.
KMI Raises 2026 Outlook
Kinder Morgan expects full-year adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, depletion and amortization (EBITDA) to exceed its original $8.6 billion budget by more than 5%. The company also expects adjusted earnings to surpass its initial $1.36-per-share budget by more than 12%.
The revised guidance reflects strong first-half performance across all business segments.
KMI’s Dividend Growth
The quarterly dividend was raised 2% to 29.75 cents per share, equivalent to $1.19 per share annually. The dividend is payable Aug. 17, 2026, to shareholders of record as of Aug. 3.

KMI Q2 Earnings Beat Estimates on Natural Gas Pipeline Strength

Range Resources Corporation RRC reported second-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of 79 cents per share, up 19.7% from 66 cents a year ago. The figure topped the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 56 cents by 41.1%.
Quarterly revenues of $795.3 million increased 8.5% from the $732.9 million reported a year ago. The figure topped the consensus estimate of $720 million by 10.5%.
Strong quarterly results are driven by higher production and improved price realization.

RRC's Production & Price Performance
Production averaged 2,296.4 million cubic feet equivalent per day (MMcfe/d), up 4.5% from the prior-year quarter’s figure of 2,197.3 MMcfe/d. The figure came in lower than our projection of 2,385.9 MMcfe/d. Natural gas production increased 3%. Over the same time frame, oil production and NGL output increased 1% and 7%, respectively.
With daily production of 1,548.9 million cubic feet, natural gas represented about 67% of total output, while NGLs and oil accounted for the rest. NGL production averaged 118,113 barrels per day (Bbl/d), while oil output was 6,475 Bbl/d.
Range Resources turned 21 wells to sales during the quarter and completed roughly 300,000 lateral feet. The company drilled about 190,000 lateral feet across 11 wells.
Range Resources’ Realizations Strengthen Quarterly Results
The average realized price after derivative settlements before third-party transportation costs was $3.53 per Mcfe. Before NYMEX hedges, the realized price was $3.37 per Mcfe, while settled hedges added 16 cents per Mcfe.
Total price realization (excluding derivative settlements and before third-party transportation costs) averaged $3.36 per Mcfe, up 1% year over year. Price realization came in lower than our estimate of $3.41 per Mcfe.
Pre-hedge NGL realizations increased 29% to $29.10 per barrel, a $3.49 premium to the Mont Belvieu equivalent. Natural gas realized $2.42 per Mcf before NYMEX hedges, reflecting a 47-cent discount to the benchmark price. Oil realized price increased 59% to $83.96 per barrel before hedges.
RRC's Costs Reflect Higher Operating Activity
Total costs and expenses increased 5.5% year over year to $584.9 million from the $554.2 million reported a year ago. Transportation, gathering, processing and compression expense, the largest cost category, rose 4% to $316.8 million. Direct operating expense increased to $27.3 million from $22.6 million.
Total cash unit costs declined 3% to $1.92 per Mcfe from the prior-year figure of $1.97, aided by lower interest expense, which fell 46% to 7 cents per Mcfe from the year-ago figure of 13 cents. Total unit costs, including depletion, depreciation and amortization, decreased 2% to $2.37 per Mcfe.
Range Resources’ Efficiency Supports Development Momentum
Range Resources completed a record 1,900 stages with two crews during the quarter. The company posted a single-day completion record of 22 pumping hours and drilled nearly two miles in one day.
Second-quarter drilling and completion spending was $204 million. Range Resources invested another $8 million in acreage and $10 million in infrastructure, pneumatic upgrades and other projects. Total capital spending of $222 million represented about 33% of the annual budget
RRC's Cash Flow Funds Capital Returns
Cash flow from operating activities was $235 million. Cash flow from operations before changes in working capital totaled $332.5 million, up 10.7% from $300.5 million in the year-ago period.
RRC repurchased $78 million of shares and paid $24 million in dividends during the quarter. The company bought back 2 million shares at an average price of about $39.18 and retained $1.4 billion under its authorization.
Range Resources’ Balance Sheet Shows Lower Leverage
Net debt was $880.8 million at June 30, 2026, down 28% from $1.22 billion at year-end 2025.
RRC’s 2026 Outlook
RRC maintained its 2026 production outlook of 2.35-2.40 Bcfe per day, with liquids expected to account for more than 30% of output. The company retained its capital budget in the range of $650-$700 million.
The natural gas differential outlook improved to 35-40 cents below NYMEX from the prior range of 35-45 cents below NYMEX. NGL guidance was raised to a $2.00-$2.50 premium to the Mont Belvieu equivalent, while the oil and condensate differential improved to $10-$12 below WTI.

RRC Q2 Earnings Beat Estimates on Higher Output & Price Realizations

Halliburton Company HAL reported second-quarter 2026 adjusted net income per share of 55 cents, marginally beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 54 cents. The outperformance was backed by year-over-year revenue growth. However, the bottom line was flat compared with the prior-year level.
Meanwhile, the Houston, TX-based oil and gas equipment and services company’s second-quarter revenues of $5.7 billion were up 3.7% year over year and beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $5.5 billion. The outperformance was driven by higher revenues in both segments of the company — the Completion and Production segment and the Drilling and Evaluation segment.

Inside Halliburton’s Regions & Segments
North America revenues increased by $17 million year over year to $2.3 billion, driven by higher stimulation activity and increased well construction activity in the United States and higher fluids activity in the Gulf of America, also beating our projection by around $29 million. On the other hand, revenues from Halliburton’s international operations increased 5.7% from the year-ago period to $3.4 billion.
The Completion and Production segment earned $474 million in operating income, lower than last year’s $513 million. The figure also missed our estimate of $480 million. The underperformance of the segment was due to lower specialty chemicals activity in North America resulting from the sale of a portion of the chemical business, decreased cementing activity in Latin America and lower activity across multiple product service lines in the Middle East.
The Drilling and Evaluation unit’s profit increased to $338 million in the second quarter of 2026 from $312 million in the same period of 2025. The figure also beat our estimate of $322 million. This rise was backed by increased drilling-related services and higher wireline activity in North America and Europe/Africa and increased drilling-related services in Asia.
HAL’s Q2 Balance Sheet
Halliburton reported second-quarter capital expenditure of $235 million. As of June 30, 2026, the company had approximately $2 billion in cash/cash equivalents and $7.1 billion in long-term debt, representing a debt-to-capitalization of 39%. HAL bought back $200 million worth of its stock and invested $46 million in the SAP S/4 migration during the second quarter of 2026. The company generated $824 million of cash flow from operations in the second quarter, leading to a free cash flow of $668 million.
HAL’s Management Remarks & Outlook
Halliburton's management remains optimistic about the company's growth prospects, supported by its differentiated technology portfolio and strong value proposition. Management expects these strengths to drive revenue growth and margin expansion over the coming quarters. Internationally, the company is encouraged by recent contract wins and a robust pipeline of future opportunities, with demand for its services and technologies increasing across all regions. In North America, management noted a recovery during the quarter and anticipates further gradual improvement through the remainder of the year. Halliburton also reaffirmed its commitment to capital discipline and delivering strong shareholder returns, viewing these priorities as key drivers of its long-term success.

ExxonMobil
ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM) has built one of the oil industry's lowest-cost, highest-return businesses. And its biggest advantage is Guyana, where the company has now discovered more than 11 billion barrels of recoverable oil equivalent, making it one of the largest oil discoveries in decades. Production recently surpassed 700,000 barrels per day, and management expects Guyana to produce about 1.7 million barrels per day by 2030.
That country is also one of the world's lowest-cost oil sources, with break-even prices estimated at less than $35 per barrel. That allows Exxon to remain highly profitable even if crude prices sink.
The company is also beginning to realize the benefits of its acquisition of Pioneer Natural Resources. The deal significantly expanded Exxon's position in the Permian Basin, giving it one of the largest unconventional oil portfolios in North America while creating about $4 billion in expected annual integration benefits and operating efficiencies.
Cheniere Energy
It's only natural to associate energy with oil, but liquefied natural gas may offer one of the industry's strongest growth opportunities. That's where Cheniere Energy (NYSE: LNG) comes into play.
Cheniere is the largest producer and exporter of LNG in the U.S. As Europe continues replacing Russian natural gas and Asian demand steadily increases, long-term LNG contracts have become increasingly valuable.
The company currently operates seven liquefaction trains at Sabine Pass on the Texas-Louisiana border and another seven at Corpus Christi, Texas. The latter's stage 3 expansion is expected to add another 10 million metric tonnes of LNG production capacity once fully completed. That expansion should significantly increase earnings and cash flow over the next several years.
Cheniere has also become a free-cash-flow powerhouse. In 2025, the company generated $5.29 billion in distributable cash flow, allowing management to aggressively repurchase shares while steadily increasing its dividend.
And unlike traditional exploration and production companies, much of Cheniere's earnings are supported by long-term contracts rather than daily swings in natural gas prices. With global LNG demand expected to continue growing, Cheniere is well positioned to benefit for the foreseeable future.
NextEra Energy
NextEra Energy (NYSE: NEE) isn't just the largest renewable energy company in the U.S. It's increasingly becoming one of the biggest beneficiaries of the country's growing electricity demand.
After years of relatively flat power consumption, utilities are preparing for a surge driven by AI data centers, domestic manufacturing, and electrification. The U.S. Energy Information Administration expects electricity demand to continue reaching record highs over the coming years. NextEra is well-positioned to capitalize on that trend.
The company currently owns Florida Power & Light, one of the nation's largest regulated electric utilities, serving more than 6 million customer accounts. That business generates stable, recurring earnings regardless of the economy.
At the same time, NextEra Energy Resources has become the world's largest generator of solar and wind power. The company currently has a development backlog in renewable energy and battery storage of about 33 gigawatts, giving it one of the industry's deepest growth pipelines.
The artificial intelligence (AI) building boom could provide another catalyst. Data centers require enormous amounts of electricity, and tech companies need utilities capable of delivering reliable power while helping meet their clean energy goals. NextEra's combination of regulated utility operations, renewable-power generation, and battery storage puts it in a good position to capture that demand.
Financially, the company continues to execute, too. In 2025, adjusted earnings per share (EPS) increased roughly 8%, and management now expects compound annual adjusted EPS growth of at least 8% through 2032. The dividend has also grown by about a 11% compound annual rate over the past decade.
Outperforming the market
Energy isn't just about oil prices. You have a variety of opportunities across traditional oil production, global LNG exports, renewable energy, energy storage, and the infrastructure to support a rapidly expanding electricity infrastructure.
ExxonMobil offers low-cost production growth led by Guyana. Cheniere provides exposure to one of the fastest-growing segments of the energy market through LNG exports. NextEra gives you a way to benefit from rising electricity demand and the continued expansion of renewables.
To be sure, no energy stock is immune to commodity price swings or changes in the broader economy. But these three companies have something many competitors don't: high-quality assets, strong balance sheets, and identifiable catalysts that extend beyond simply hoping oil or natural gas prices move higher. That combination gives them a strong chance of outperforming the broader market over the next 12 months.

Noteworthy Monday Option Activity: LNG, AVGO, FIG

Baker Hughes BKR has strengthened its position in the global liquefied natural gas (“LNG”) market by securing three major awards from Cheniere Energy, Inc. LNG and Bechtel Energy Inc. for Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG facility in Louisiana. The contracts, which were booked in the second quarter, include liquefaction equipment for the Train 7 expansion, a boil-off gas re-liquefaction unit and fleet-wide gas turbine technology upgrades. These awards reinforce Baker Hughes' long-standing partnership with Cheniere while expanding its role in one of the world's largest LNG export facilities.
The Phase 1 expansion will feature seven PGT25+ G4 gas turbines driving 15 centrifugal compressors, supporting approximately 6 million tons per annum (MTPA) of additional LNG production capacity.
BKR will upgrade the facility's installed fleet of aeroderivative PGT25+ G4 gas turbines over the next four years, improving turbine power output and operational efficiency across Sabine Pass' existing 30 MTPA production capacity. Together with Train 7 and the boil-off gas re-liquefaction unit, these upgrades are expected to add more than 6 MTPA of incremental LNG capacity.
The awards strengthen Baker Hughes' business model while expanding its exposure to the growing global LNG market. The contracts not only generate equipment sales but also create recurring lifecycle service opportunities. As global natural gas demand continues to rise, LNG infrastructure investment remains robust.
BKR's diverse portfolio of liquefaction equipment, gas turbines and digital services positions the company to capitalize on this long-term growth trend. The Cheniere awards enhance BKR's cash flow generation, strengthen its project backlog and bolster its overall investor appeal.

Baker Hughes Wins Cheniere Sabine Pass Awards to Drive LNG Growth

When evaluating energy stocks as long-term positions, investors need to consider liquefied natural gas (LNG). Demand for that energy source is expected to jump by 700 million tons annually by 2050, representing a 65% surge from 2025 levels, according to Shell's LNG Outlook 2026.
Yes, 2050 is a long way off, but market participants need not worry about that. Other estimates indicate the global LNG market is on pace to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 7.1% from this year through 2035.

Predictably, some investors are apprehensive. The commodity itself and natural gas stocks have reputations as volatile instruments, but the good news is that some stout fundamentals support the LNG expansion trade. As just two examples, China's LNG imports are up 258% since 2016, and over that period, the number of LNG-importing countries rose to 49 from 36, according to Shell.
Add to that the fact that the past decade has seen the U.S. morph into an LNG behemoth. This country is now the world's largest exporter of that commodity, so there is an element of patriotism in the LNG equity trade. That's a positive for red, white, and energy independence, and these energy stocks could mint green on the back of LNG demand growth.
ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM) is typically viewed as an oil stock, and that's an accurate assessment, as the company is one of the world's largest producers of oil. It's also a major LNG player and is investing in that segment. Exxon has four large-scale LNG projects under way and expects to double its LNG portfolio by 2030 from 2020 levels. Those projects could lift the producer's LNG output by 40 million metric tons annually.
That is to say, the energy giant is bullish on LNG's trajectory. Exxon sees LNG demand rising by 3% annually through 2050, noting that by that year, natural gas will power 20% of global industrial activity. So it's clear there's demand for LNG, but meeting it requires scale. Not all companies possess it, but Exxon does.
Exxon's been one of the dominant names in the natural gas space for four decades, and it's engaged in LNG infrastructure, production, and transportation in a variety of markets, including Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea. In the first quarter, the company boosted U.S. LNQ exports by 5%.
A pure LNG play
Investors seeking purity in liquefied natural gas stocks may want to consider Cheniere Energy (NYSE: LNG). Cheniere sure lives up to its ticker. A decade ago, it became the first U.S. company to export LBG, and two years ago, it became the largest domestic LNG producer.
Those are the headlines. Getting into the "nitty gritty" of the Cheniere story, like Exxon, this energy company is investing to meet future LNG demand. Cheniere is working on three expansion projects, one of which is expected to be fully operational this year, with the other pair coming online in 2028 and 2029. One of the attractive points of this energy stock is the long-term contracts the company inks with LNG customers, which provide clarity and stability.
Speaking of the long-term, Cheniere may be appealing to patient investors because it's a cash flow king. The company generated $1.67 billion in distributable cash flow in the first quarter. That was enough to increase its 2026 distributable cash flow forecast to $4.75 billion to $5.25 billion, up from $4.35 billion to $4.85 billion.
The dividend idea
With a yield of 7.1%, Energy Transfer (NYSE: ET) rightfully earns its place in the conversation about oil dividend stocks. It's also deserving of its place at the LNG table because natural gas liquids are central to this midstream operator's pipeline suite, which is among the largest in the North American midstream space.
Said another way, Energy Transfer doesn't get its hands "dirty" with the production of natural gas liquids, but it is one of the premier intrastate and interstate transmitters of those products. There's clear demand for natural gas pipelines, underscoring why Energy Transfer is investing heavily in that part of its business.
In the first quarter, the company's natural gas liquids and refining business posted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) growth of $185 million, confirming an impressive growth trajectory.
There's an artificial intelligence (AI) angle here as well. Due to Energy Transfer's status as the king of Texas pipelines, it can meet fresh demand from data center hyperscalers looking to source energy straight from basin regions.
