SpaceX is uniquely positioned to build and deploy orbital AI data centers
SpaceX (short for Space Exploration Technologies) breaks its business into three operating segments: space, connectivity, and artificial intelligence (AI).
1. Space
SpaceX has revolutionized space travel. In 2015, the Falcon 9 -- the world's first orbital-class rapidly reusable rocket -- successfully landed on Earth after being launched into space. No other company replicated that feat until Blue Origin in 2025. SpaceX aims to further cement its lead with the Starship system.
Starship will be the first fully and rapidly reusable spacecraft. It comprises a reusable first stage (Super Heavy booster) and second stage (the spacecraft), both engineered to return to the launch tower after flight, where they are caught in mid-air by mechanical arms. The company says Starship will reduce launch costs by 99% versus the historical average.
2. Connectivity
SpaceX could revolutionize the internet and mobile industries with Starlink, a constellation of about 10,000 broadband satellites that currently serves about 12 million subscribers. Starlink is already the largest satellite internet service, but it could eventually dominate the broader communications industry.
CEO Elon Musk says the Starlink constellation will ultimately expand tenfold to include more than 100,000 satellites. "If growth continues, Starlink will one day carry the majority of internet traffic. At that point, it is the internet and everything just connects to Starlink."
3. Artificial intelligence
SpaceX recently merged with xAI, an artificial intelligence research lab. The registration statement (Form S-1) states: "We own and operate what we believe to be the largest AI training data center clusters on Earth, including Colossus I and Colossus II." xAI also develops Grok frontier models and enterprise AI applications.
The company recently signed two big deals. It will provide compute capacity to Anthropic for $1.25 billion per month, and it will provide compute capacity to Alphabet's Google for $920 million per month. Those deals are worth $26 billion per year, which represents a material acceleration from the $3.2 billion in sales xAI reported in 2025.
Here's the big picture: SpaceX is unique in its vertical integration. No other company brings together the launch capacity, connectivity technology, and AI infrastructure needed to build and run orbital data centers. Musk believes orbital data centers (i.e., powered by the sun and cooled by space) will solve the energy constraints of terrestrial data centers.
Collectively, SpaceX estimates its total addressable market at $28.5 trillion. That figure includes $370 billion from space mission and launch services, $1.6 trillion from Starlink broadband and mobile services, and $26.5 trillion from AI infrastructure and applications.
History says SpaceX's stock will drop sharply during its first year on the public market
SpaceX will be the largest IPO on record, with an initial market capitalization of $1.77 trillion. That alone is not an issue, but it implies an absurdly expensive valuation. The company reported $19.3 billion in revenue in the past year, bringing its price-to-sales (P/S) ratio to 92.
For context, Palantir Technologies is the most expensive stock in the S&P 500 at 63 times sales. But SpaceX is going public at a valuation 46% higher, leaving plenty of downside risk, especially since large IPOs have historically declined in their first year on the market.

As shown above, the 10 largest U.S. IPO stocks declined by an average of 21% during their first year. That may surprise readers, as IPO stocks (especially highly anticipated ones like SpaceX) frequently skyrocket on the first trading day. But they often give back those gains and then some.
More importantly, disappointing post-IPO returns are not limited to a single year for companies that go public with large market caps. The 10 largest U.S. IPO stocks (shown in the chart above) have underperformed the S&P 500 by an average of 99 percentage points since listing shares.
So, should you buy the SpaceX IPO? My answer is no. History suggests the stock could drop sharply in its first year and may underperform the S&P 500 in the long run. That doesn't mean you should forget about SpaceX. Instead, be patient and wait for more attractive buying opportunities.

The S&P 500 has roared higher over the past three years -- and since President Donald Trump's inauguration in January of last year, the famous benchmark has advanced more than 23%. Investors have rushed to buy high-growth players, particularly in innovative areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing.
And a new batch of growth companies has also rushed to take advantage of investors' appetite for high-growth stories. AI chip company Cerebras Systems recently completed the biggest initial public offering of the year, Elon Musk's SpaceX this week aims to launch what may be the largest IPO ever, and AI lab Anthropic earlier this month filed confidentially with regulators for a market debut.

All of this is fantastic and is supportive of further stock market gains. But... my prediction is the Trump bull market may end soon. The S&P 500 Shiller CAPE ratio shows that stocks remain around their highest valuation level ever, and historically, this has led to declines. Meanwhile, inflationary pressures persist, as we can see through rising energy prices and increases in the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
But here's some good news: If the Trump bull market ends in the near future, the following two stocks, both on the rise so far this year, will keep winning anyway. Let's check them out.
1. Eli Lilly
Eli Lilly (NYSE: LLY) is a pharmaceutical giant, selling a wide variety of products that patients need regardless of the economic backdrop. That's why you can count on a certain level of revenue stability and growth even during tougher times. And today Lilly happens to be the leader in one of the highest-growth healthcare markets: obesity drugs.
Lilly is the maker of the well-known Mounjaro, commercialized for type 2 diabetes, and Zepbound, approved for weight loss. The underlying product is tirzepatide, a drug of the GLP-1 class. These drugs work by interacting with hormonal pathways involved in the digestion process.
Mounjaro and Zepbound are blockbusters, with revenue continuing to climb in the double and triple digits. On top of this, Lilly just released Foundayo, an oral weight loss drug -- Mounjaro and Zepbound are injectables. This new product should broaden the addressable market, offering Lilly a new growth driver. And the company aims to further expand this portfolio through its solid pipeline. It recently announced positive phase 3 results for GLP-1 candidate retatrutide, a potential drug that may help patients who aim for greater weight loss.
With the weight loss drug market marching toward almost $100 billion by the end of the decade, now is the perfect time to get in on this market leader.
2. Johnson & Johnson
You may know the name Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) for consumer products such as Band-Aid brand bandages -- but the company actually spun off this consumer health business into Kenvue three years ago. The idea was to shift its focus and resources to areas that could generate the strongest growth over time, and J&J is demonstrating that this was a wise move.
Revenue in its innovative medicines and medtech businesses has been on the rise, and the recent quarter offers us a solid example of the company's direction. Innovative medicine delivered an 11% increase in sales, while medtech generated a 7.7% gain. And the company's total sales rose nearly 10% to more than $24 billion.
There's reason to be optimistic that growth will continue thanks to an enormous portfolio of powerful products: The company today has 28 products or platforms that each deliver at least $1 billion in annual sales -- and J&J aims to further grow this blockbuster portfolio.
J&J has set goals to reach $100 billion in annual revenue this year and generate double-digit growth by the end of the decade. If the company reaches these goals, and there's reason to be optimistic that it will, the stock could climb.
Any potential economic shifts shouldn't interfere with J&J's progress toward those goals -- as mentioned above, patients need their medical treatments during all market environments. So, my prediction is that even if the Trump bull market ends, this top pharma stock will keep winning.

Investment banks underwriting the IPO are reporting immense demand, but history says SpaceX is likely to underperform the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) in the long run, which means investors would be better off buying an S&P 500 index fund instead of participating in the IPO.

IPO stocks frequently jump on their first trading day. Between 2016 and 2025, over 1,100 companies listed shares on U.S. exchanges, and their stock prices increased by an average of 25% on day one, according to Jay Ritter, director of the IPO Initiative at the University of Florida.
However, the initial excitement eventually fades, and selling pressure increases as lock-up periods expire, giving insiders an exit strategy. That trend is particularly evident with larger companies. The chart below lists the 10 largest U.S. IPOs (as measured by market value at the IPO price) on record; it also shows how each stock has performed relative to the S&P 500 since going public.

As shown above, the 10 largest U.S. IPO stocks have underperformed the S&P 500 by 96 percentage points since listing shares. The lesson for investors is crystal clear: Rather than participate in those IPOs, it would have been more lucrative to buy an S&P 500 index fund. And the same is probably true of the SpaceX IPO.
SpaceX will go public with a very expensive valuation of 92 times sales. For context, Palantir Technologies is currently the most richly valued stock in the S&P 500 at 62 times sales. But SpaceX stock will be 48% more expensive when it starts trading, leaving plenty of downside.
Morningstar analyst Nicolas Owens estimates SpaceX's fair value at $780 billion, implying 56% downside from its IPO valuation of $1.77 trillion. That does not mean the stock will crash immediately. CNBC's Jim Cramer thinks the company's market value could rapidly climb to $5 trillion following the IPO.
Here's the bottom line: SpaceX, with an initial valuation of $1.77 trillion, will be the largest IPO on record. The stock may initially rocket higher, but history says it will underperform the S&P 500 over the long run. That means investors would be better off buying the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (NYSEMKT: VOO) on June 12.

Purchasing an S&P 500 index fund lacks the excitement of participating in the SpaceX IPO, but history says it's the more prudent investment. However, investors should still keep SpaceX on their watchlists. "We think the company has been significantly overvalued and investors will have opportunities to buy the stock at more attractive levels after the IPO," Morningstar analysts led by Nicolas Owens wrote in a recent note.

AVO’s management described the transaction as a transformational milestone that strengthens the company's competitive position and long-term growth prospects. Calavo will continue operating as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mission Produce, with former Calavo CEO John Lindeman remaining in a leadership role during the integration period to ensure continuity of operations and customer relationships.
As part of the transaction, Kathleen Holmgren, former chair of Calavo's board, joined Mission Produce's board of directors, bringing extensive technology and corporate leadership experience.
Under the merger terms, Calavo shareholders will receive $26.05 per share, consisting of $14.85 in cash and 0.9790 shares of Mission Produce common stock for each Calavo share. Mission Produce Acquires Calavo Growers: What's Ahead for the Stock?

Colgate-Palmolive Company CL is striving for a balance between volume and pricing, rather than relying solely on price increases to drive revenues. In the first quarter of fiscal 2026, the company highlighted that it witnessed improved volume performance, particularly within the Asia Pacific region. Excluding the impact from the private label pet food exit, the company achieved both volume and pricing growth across all four categories and in four of its five operating divisions, reflecting broad-based business momentum.
The company stated that industry-wide category volumes remain relatively sluggish globally, making the recent acceleration in volume growth particularly encouraging. Best Income Stocks to Buy for May 11th

Key Points
Realty Income rents property to many of the country's most well-known businesses.
Temporary headwinds and a rising dividend could make Clorox an eventual winner.
After the Kenvue merger, more of America's most respected brands will be under Kimberly-Clark's umbrella.
Investors have compelling anecdotal evidence that they should be cautious about the market. The Shiller P/E ratio, an indicator of the market's long-term valuation, is at 41, its highest level since the dot-com bubble.
Moreover, Warren Buffett's former company, Berkshire Hathaway, holds almost $397 billion in liquidity, a record level, and more than the nearly $330 billion value of its stock portfolio. That could indicate it is accumulating cash in anticipation of a discounted market.

However, investors should note that Berkshire remains heavily invested in stocks, and certainly, some stocks can offer value in the current market, particularly among dividend payers. Knowing that, these three consumer names are probably a good place to invest cash while earning generous dividend payments.
1. Realty Income
Realty Income (NYSE: O) leases single-tenant properties to many of the world's best-known corporations. Companies ranging from Walmart to FedEx to Wynn Resorts operate businesses in properties owned by this real estate investment trust (REIT).
That client base delivers steady revenue and a 99% occupancy rate. With that, the company continues to develop and acquire additional properties.
That base also helps Realty Income maintain its reputation as the "monthly dividend company." True to that name, it has made a payout every month since 1994, increasing the amount at least once per year. At $3.25 per year, its dividend yield is 5.1%, far above the 1.1% average for the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC).
Fortunately, it earned $4.25 per share in funds from operations (FFO) income, a measure of a REIT's free cash flow. That likely means it can continue to support its dividend and fund payout hikes.
Moreover, while investors may focus on its 55 P/E ratio, it sells at a price-to-FFO ratio of around 15, indicating the stock is much cheaper than it might appear. That increases the likelihood the stock will move higher over the long term, and its dividend should pay shareholders generously in the meantime.
2. Clorox
Clorox (NYSE: CLX) is a consumer staples stock that has struggled to gain respect in recent years. In addition to its flagship bleach brand, the company owns Kingsford charcoal, Hidden Valley salad dressing, and Burt's Bees personal care products.
Clorox stock surged during the pandemic amid temporarily high demand for cleaning supplies, but unfortunately, a 2023 cyberattack and implementation of a new CRM system led to stock selling. More recently, rising input costs squeezed margins, forcing a downward revision in sales and earnings forecasts.
However, Clorox has a streak of annual dividend increases spanning decades. Consequently, its $4.96-per-share yearly dividend yields about 5.6%.
Admittedly, its $380 million in free cash flow over the trailing 12 months was well short of the $602 million in dividend costs for the period. Still, a $476 million venture termination payment, a one-time charge, caused that shortfall. Furthermore, since abandoning the streak of payout hikes would hurt the stock's reputation, the company will likely maintain the streak despite its struggles.
Furthermore, Clorox's stock is also cheap. Amid its troubles, its P/E ratio has fallen to 14, well below the S&P 500 average of 31. Assuming investors capitalize on that discounted price, the strength of Clorox's brands should bring stability, and the dividend will likely deliver increasing returns as investors wait for improvement.
3. Kimberly-Clark
Kimberly-Clark (NASDAQ: KMB) has long maintained its stability with brands like Kleenex, Huggies, and Cottonelle. Moreover, it is about to expand its reach with the upcoming merger with Kenvue, formerly a Johnson & Johnson division. This buyout brings famous brands such as Tylenol, Listerine, Neutrogena under its umbrella.
The Kenvue merger may make some investors nervous. Kimberly-Clark's $32 billion market cap is well below the $48.7 billion cost of the deal, meaning the company will almost certainly have to issue shares to close the deal.
Concerns about the deal's cost have likely contributed to a significant decline in Kimberly-Clark stock. However, the lower stock price may indicate investors have priced in much of the upcoming stock dilution. In addition, many investors believe synergies, the disposition of lower-margin businesses, and the company's financial strength will make the deal work.
Fortunately, its $5.12-per-share dividend has increased for 54 straight years, making it a Dividend King, or a company that has raised its annual dividend for at least 50 consecutive years. The company yields 5.2%. Also, its $1.8 billion in free cash flow over the trailing 12 months was just above the $1.7 billion dividend cost, indicating it can still afford its payout.
Additionally, the pullback in the stock price has taken its P/E ratio to just 15. That low valuation buys investors a stock that owns many of America's most respected consumer brands. With more brands coming under its control following the merger, Kimberly-Clark will likely protect investor wealth while continuing to raise its dividend.
