Over the past 24 hours (as of 6:45 p.m. ET), Solana (CRYPTO: SOL) is trading flat. However, this past day was certainly an interesting one for investors and traders who closely monitor this token on an hourly basis. Dropping 5.8% to a low below $130 per token late last night, Solana has now fully rebounded to the $137 level it was trading at the same time the previous day.
These sorts of intraday swings are actually pretty unusual, at least in my experience covering many of the top tokens. Typically, momentum in either direction continues for an extended period of time (days or weeks), with few tokens experiencing such drastic intraday declines and rallies.

Now, over short-term periods, there are numerous instances of such plunges and recoveries. However, Solana has had a busy news day, so I thought I'd dive into some of the key announcements that led to this recovery rally, and whether it will continue moving forward.
Key catalysts emerge for Solana today
Among the immediate concerns for investors in Solana and other major cryptocurrencies today comes from the bond market, and increased volatility in this market tied to expectations about the future path of interest rate cuts (and if there will be any). Cryptocurrencies like Solana typically benefit from looser monetary and fiscal policy environments, which interest rate cuts usually bring. Thus, many would think that yesterday's 25 basis point (0.25%) interest rate cut from the Federal Reserve Open Market Committee should have been viewed as a net positive.
However, this interest rate cut was largely priced in ahead of the announcement, and the Fed made some assertions that we may have to wait a while for the next cut. Those hoping for the punch bowl to return as it did following the onset of the pandemic were clearly disappointed by the news, with the entire market dropping late last night and into this morning.
However, two key announcements today have reinvigorated Solana investors. The first announcement came courtesy of JPMorgan, which announced that it would create a Solana-based token (symbol: USCP) to facilitate future capital raises. For those viewing Solana as the go-to platform of choice for developers and institutional entities, this move validates that thesis.

JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) is the largest bank in the United States, with total assets under management exceeding $3.8 trillion. To put that size in perspective, it's nearly 50% larger than Bank of America, and more than Citigroup (NYSE: C) and Wells Fargo combined.
Led by CEO Jamie Dimon since 2005, JPMorgan Chase has a track record of prudent capital and risk management that has enabled it to navigate challenging economic and market conditions. The bank emerged from the 2008 financial crisis well, which is how it grew into the behemoth it is today.
More recently, JPMorgan Chase expertly navigated the rising interest rate environment in 2022 and 2023. Not only did the bank see excellent growth in net interest income, but it also did a good job of "hoarding cash" during the ultra-low interest rate era during the pandemic and has put that cash to work in today's higher interest rate environment.
While some banks were experiencing deposit outflows amid the 2023 regional banking crisis, JPMorgan, with its fortress balance sheet, was well-positioned to acquire the assets of failed First Republic Bank.
JPMorgan Chase has done an excellent job navigating various environments. Next year, the bank projects net interest income excluding markets to be around $95 billion, or a roughly 3% increase from this year. Robust capital market activity should also be a tailwind for JPMorgan, which has established a strong investment banking presence.
A rebound in capital markets should benefit this investment bank
A rebound in capital markets should bode well for Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) and its investment banking-heavy business.
The rising interest rate environment from 2022 to 2023 stifled investment banking activity. At the time, many companies put plans to go public on hold, as they awaited better market conditions. Not only that, but mergers and acquisitions also came to a crawl, as major mergers faced heightened scrutiny for antitrust reasons.
However, conditions have improved, and capital markets are heating up. According to Renaissance Capital, 196 initial public offerings (IPOs) have been priced this year, up 40% from 2024. Meanwhile, the total proceeds raised from those IPOs were $36.4 billion, representing a 26% year-over-year increase. This year has seen the return of some major IPOs, including Figma, CoreWeave, and Circle Internet Group.
Meanwhile, dealmaking has also increased. According to EY, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity increased 8.3%. However, the real growth was in major deals, as total deal value surged 146.5% year over year.
Positive momentum is expected to continue. CFO Denis Coleman informed investors during Goldman's third-quarter earnings call that "we continue to see strong momentum with our quarter-end backlog at its highest level in three years." Barring any market disruptions, the bank expects M&A activity to be even stronger heading into 2026, which would be a tailwind for Goldman Sachs.
This bank is undergoing a transformation
Citigroup has lagged its peers for years on key metrics such as return on equity. Part of the reason was its sprawling business, along with regulatory actions, such as fines for deficiencies, that have weighed on the bank and its operating efficiency.
Under the leadership of CEO Jane Fraser, the bank is seeking to reinvent itself. It's making some tough decisions, including cutting bonuses for top employees, reducing the number of layers of management, and selling off its less profitable business units.
As part of this, the bank is divesting from its Mexico retail bank, Banamex. The bank will sell 25% of its stake to businessman Fernando Chico Pardo for approximately $2.3 billion. It plans to go public with its remaining stake, which is expected sometime next year.
Citigroup trades at 1.14 times tangible book value (P/TBV), which is significantly cheaper than JPMorgan Chase (P/TBV of 3.03) and Goldman Sachs (P/TBV of 2.56), making it more appealing to investors seeking value. Citigroup also operates a large investment banking business, which should provide another favorable tailwind as it undergoes its transformation.

Which Bank's AI Bet Will Drive Greater Productivity: JPM or WFC?

JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) shares ended the last trading session 3.2% higher at $310.11. The jump came on an impressive volume with a higher-than-average number of shares changing hands in the session. This compares to the stock's 4.8% loss over the past four weeks.
A 25-basis-point interest rate cut and a dovish Fed stance are likely to have turned JPMorgan investors bullish. Also, an upbeat investment banking and markets revenue outlook for the ongoing quarter is a major positive for the company, despite a warning of a steep increase in expenses next year.
This company is expected to post quarterly earnings of $4.90 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +1.9%. Revenues are expected to be $45.39 billion, up 6.1% from the year-ago quarter.
Earnings and revenue growth expectations certainly give a good sense of the potential strength in a stock, but empirical research shows that trends in earnings estimate revisions are strongly correlated with near-term stock price movements.
For JPMorgan Chase & Co., the consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 1.2% higher over the last 30 days to the current level. And a positive trend in earnings estimate revision usually translates into price appreciation. JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) Soars 3.2%: Is Further Upside Left in the Stock?

In a landmark move for the banking and crypto industries, PNC Bank, a subsidiary of The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. PNC, has become the first major U.S. bank to enable direct Bitcoin trading for its clients. The bank has introduced direct spot bitcoin trading capabilities for eligible PNC Private Bank clients. The eligible clients can now buy, sell, and hold Bitcoin directly through PNC’s own digital banking platform, thanks to a strategic partnership with Coinbase and its institutional-grade “Crypto-as-a-Service” (CaaS) infrastructure.
This rollout represents the first step following its July 2025 strategic partnership with Coinbase to provide trusted, secure, and innovative digital asset solutions to PNC's private banking clients.
The first generation of PNC's new "crypto for clients" solution integrates Coinbase's institutional-grade CaaS infrastructure into the PNC Private Bank Online platform. Through Portfolio View, eligible clients can now directly buy, hold, and sell bitcoin while maintaining secure custody. Backed by more than 100 offices serving high- and ultra-high-net-worth clients, PNC Private Bank is positioned to provide its client base with seamless, integrated access to the digital asset economy.
The rapid adoption of crypto infrastructure is not only attracting PNC but also other banks like JPMorgan Chase & Co. JPM and Citigroup Inc. C. Last month, JPM rolled out its blockchain-based JPM Coin for institutional payments on Coinbase’s Base network, after completing pilot tests with Coinbase and Mastercard.
Meanwhile, in October 2025, C also partnered with Coinbase to enhance its digital asset payment capabilities, initially focusing on streamlining fiat pay-ins/pay-outs and exploring new on/off-ramp models for global clients. Together, these developments illustrate a broader industry shift in which leading banks are increasingly aligning with crypto-native platforms to modernize payments, custody, and digital-asset transaction capabilities for global clients.
Rationale Behind PNC’s Latest Launch
PNC’s launch reflects the bank’s effort to meet growing client interest in digital assets. By leveraging Coinbase’s institutional-grade CaaS infrastructure, PNC is able to offer secure and integrated solutions for trading, custody, and financing of bitcoin directly through its own digital banking platform.
This integration allows PNC Private Bank clients to buy, sell, and securely hold bitcoin while managing all their accounts and activities on a single, streamlined platform, providing greater oversight and convenience. The partnership also ensures that clients can access the digital asset market in a controlled and familiar environment that aligns with PNC’s risk, compliance, and security standards.
The bank also plans to expand access to additional client segments and introduce enhanced features in future phases, broadening its digital asset offerings while maintaining a secure and disciplined approach.

PNC Financial's Arm to Offer Direct Bitcoin Access via Coinbase

Shares of JPMorgan JPM fell 4.7% in yesterday’s trading session after Marianne Lake, the CEO of the company’s Consumer and Community Banking business, said at the Goldman Sachs 2025 U.S. Financial Services Conference that the Wall Street giant’s total expenses in 2026 are expected to rise by more than $9 billion to $105 billion.
The 4.7% drop is the biggest single-day decrease in JPM’s share price since April 2025.
Per Lake, the jump in costs will be primarily driven by an increase in growth and volume-related spending (like compensation costs, costs for branching/expansion, and costs related to credit card business growth), along with an increase in expenses related to investments in technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
Apart from these, structural inflation related costs like higher real estate and general operating overhead expenses will result in a rise in overall firm-wide expenses.
However, JPMorgan believes that such spending is purposeful as it is intended to support growth, investments in strategic areas and long term positioning, rather than mere cost escalation.
Details on JPM’s Branch Expansion Plans
Despite the rise of mobile and online banking, JPMorgan has been expanding its footprint in new regions. The company is expanding its affluent banking services by opening 14 new J.P. Morgan Financial Centers and plans to open more than 500 new branches by 2027, with 150 already built in 2024.
With this, JPM aims to boost market share and seize cross-selling opportunities in cards and auto loans.
Moreover, the company is committed to renovating 1,700 existing locations by 2027 to serve its customers better. In 2021, JPMorgan launched its digital retail bank, Chase, in the U.K. and plans to expand the reach of its digital bank across the European Union (to open a digital bank in Germany by mid-2026).
Lakes’ Other Comments at the Conference
Regarding the consumer and small-business segments, while JPM does not expect them to collapse, it sees them as more vulnerable than a year or two ago.
Lake stated, “Consumers look resilient, small businesses are resilient, but there's less capacity to weather an incremental stress because cash buffers have normalized and price levels absolutely are high even as inflation has come down at least. So I would just say that I would characterize the environment as being a little bit more fragile.”
She added, “Our outlook for next year would be for unemployment to grind a little higher and therefore, that to be reflected in consumption.”
In contrast to the warning on expenses, Lake gave a rather optimistic guidance for JPMorgan’s capital markets business. She said that the company’s investment banking (IB) fees are expected to increase in the low-single digit in the fourth quarter of 2025, while its markets revenues are expected to rise in the low teens.

Outlook Provided by JPM’s Peers at the Conference
Citigroup’s C CFO Mark Mason said that the company’s IB fees are expected to jump in the fourth quarter of 2025 on a year-over-year basis, as deal-making continues to swell. Mason stated, “On the investment banking side, we're seeing continued momentum, particularly in M&A. We're probably looking at investment banking fees up in the mid-20s (percentage) year-over-year.”
However, Citi expects its markets revenues to be down in the low to mid-single digit in the fourth quarter from a year ago. Mason said, “The capital markets are wide open to some extent. We're seeing a lot of investment grade activity. Despite the shutdown, equity volumes and IPO volumes have held up.”
KeyCorp KEY anticipates adjusted total revenues (tax equivalent) to rise 15% in 2025 from the prior year, reflecting record revenue growth on the back of robust fee income and net interest income.
KEY expects fee income to exceed $750 million in the fourth quarter of 2025, with IB fees coming in $10-20 million higher than the prior-year quarter, higher than the flattish guidance earlier.

Solid growth visibility through 2028
A spinoff from the former General Electric (known as GE Aerospace now), GE Vernova is the world's largest manufacturer of natural gas turbines. With hyperscalers and artificial intelligence (AI) data centers operators driving demand for power like never before, GE Vernova is making the most of the boom as its latest outlook reveals.
GE Vernova hosted its 2025 investor update event on Dec. 9 to announce its long-term outlook. Here are the key takeaways from the event:
Revenue estimate for 2025: $36 billion to $37 billion.
Revenue estimate for 2028: $52 billion, up from previous guidance of $45 billion.
Free cash flow (FCF) estimate for 2025: $3.5 billion to $4 billion.
Cumulative FCF estimate for 2025-2028: $22 billion, up from earlier guidance of $14 billion.
Backlog estimate for 2028: $200 billion versus current backlog of $135 billion.
GE Vernova also doubled its quarterly dividend payout from $0.25 per share to $0.50 a share and increased its share repurchase program from $6 billion to $10 billion. As of Dec. 3, it had repurchased shares worth $3.3 billion.
Why GE Vernova stock could become unstoppable
In another interesting development that was overshadowed by headlines applauding GE Vernova's numbers, the company is collaborating with the U.S. government to increase stockpiles of the rare earth element yttrium, according to Reuters. Yttrium is used in ceramic applications such as jet engines and turbines, electronics, semiconductors, and lasers. The U.S. currently imports nearly all of its yttrium from China.
Rare earths have been a top priority for the U.S. government under President Donald Trump's leadership, who wants to shore up domestic supplies to reduce reliance on China for critical metals and minerals. The government has even acquired stakes in domestic producers, such as MP Materials, to expedite the mining and production of rare earth elements.
GE Vernova has clearly given investors many reasons to get excited. Several analysts also raised their price targets on GE Vernova, including Mark Strouse from J.P. Morgan, who believes the stock could reach $1,000 per share. Going by today's updates, GE Vernova looks like a stock worth investing in.
