JPMorgan Chase & Co. was founded in 1799 and is headquartered in New York, New York.

JP Morgan Chase appears to be a high-quality but no longer cheap bank, with strong profitability and steady balance sheet growth. Revenue, net income, and operating profit are all rising, while net margin remains above 21%, confirming the business’s high efficiency. ROE of 17.42% and return on tangible equity of 19.40% are notably above industry benchmarks, and ROA of 1.35% also looks solid for a large bank. At the same time, P/E of 15.07, P/S of 3.03, and especially P/B of 2.53 are above the industry median, which limits the potential for further re-rating. The debt burden, with a debt/equity ratio of 1.23 and long-term debt exceeding $448 billion, points to significant leverage, although for the banking sector this is partly a structural feature. Liquidity looks weaker based on the current and quick ratios, but for a bank these metrics are less meaningful than for non-financial companies, so their impact on the assessment is limited. The dividend yield of 0.44% is low and has declined over the past year, so the dividend factor does not support meaningful upside. The company’s strength lies in its scale: assets, capital, and earnings continue to grow, while net worth and equity are increasing, indicating fundamental resilience. The weakness is the high valuation on book and revenue multiples, which means the market has already priced in a significant portion of the company’s quality. Overall, this is more a story of stable quality and moderate growth than of clear undervaluation. Therefore, it makes sense to slightly lower the target forecast, while maintaining a cautious view on the already elevated valuation despite solid but not accelerating fundamentals.

These dividends have lived through hard times
Of the high-yield investments on this list, Enterprise Products Partners has the shorted streak of annual distribution increases at 28 years. However, that's about as long as the midstream master limited partnership (MLP) has been publicly traded. Real estate investment trust (REIT) Realty Income's streak is 31 years. And PepsiCo, one of the world's largest consumer staples businesses, has an incredible 53-year track record, making it a Dividend King.
As of this writing, it is 2026, so each of those streaks started before the dot-com crash and survived it. They continued through the Great Recession, when there were legitimate concerns that the global financial system would collapse. And they got through the coronavirus pandemic, when governments around the world effectively shuttered their economies. If you need a dividend you can count on, these three high-yielders have proven they can keep paying through extreme adversity.
Enterprise lets you sidestep commodity risk in the energy sector
North American midstream giant Enterprise Products Partners has the highest yield at 5.6%. The MLP operates in the highly volatile energy sector, but it is a very boring business that throws off reliable cash flows. That's because its collection of energy infrastructure assets, such as pipelines, helps to move oil and natural gas around the world. It charges fees for the use of its assets, so the prices of oil and natural gas aren't the driving force of its business; demand for these vital fuels is.
Realty Income has a diversified global footprint and a net lease focus
Realty Income's 5.3% yield is backed by a massive portfolio of single-tenant net lease properties. A net lease requires the tenant to pay most property-level operating costs, thereby reducing Realty Income's expenses and risk. Meanwhile, the portfolio includes over 15,500 assets spread across North America and Europe. While roughly 80% of its properties are retail, that is the most liquid net lease asset class. Its industrial exposure and other properties, such as casinos and data centers, add meaningfully to diversification. And the REIT has been expanding its reach into debt financing and institutional asset management, complementary areas that add even more diversification.
PepsiCo sells low-cost products that people buy regularly
PepsiCo has the most impressive streak by far, as its 53 years of increases puts it on the Dividend King list. The current 4.3% yield is historically high, as the consumer staples giant faces headwinds. However, PepsiCo has successfully navigated headwinds many times over the past 53 years. It is highly likely to do so again. One key feature here is the company's diversified business, with industry-leading positions in beverages, snacks, and packaged food products.
Consider adding all three dividend stocks in September
Of the three high-yield dividend stocks here, PepsiCo is probably the riskiest choice. But that speaks more to the low-risk nature of Enterprise and Realty Income than to the risks posed by PepsiCo. With well-above market yields and incredible dividend histories, this trio could enhance your income stream while, at the same time, helping you sleep at night. Market pricing now assigns a 70% probability to a Federal Reserve rate hike at next week's meeting, a shift triggered by August's producer price index climbing 0.4% and pushing the annual wholesale inflation rate to 5.4%, according to CME Group's FedWatch gauge. Traders also nudged the odds of a second increase before year-end to nearly 60% (as cited in CNBC).
As an immediate consequence of this, the current spotlight is on banking stocks and the exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that hold them, as investors recalibrate expectations for net interest margins, loan demand and credit conditions.
However, before discussing those ETFs, understanding the broader macroeconomic picture beyond the single rate decision is essential for making informed portfolio allocation decisions.
What a Rate Hike Means for Banks and the Broader Landscape
The sticky inflation dynamics in America are primarily driving the rate hike narrative.
Meanwhile, U.S. crude oil jumped past $100 a barrel amid prolonged Middle East hostilities with Iran. This, in turn, has prompted the European Central Bank to raise rates recently and revise its inflation forecast higher.
Against this backdrop, Fed chairman Kevin Warsh recently emphasized that the personal consumption expenditures (PCE) index, showing core inflation at 3.3% and headline at 3.7% in July, remains the central bank's official yardstick.
Bank of America economist Stephen Juneau estimates core PCE is tracking at a 0.26% monthly rate, which would round up to 0.3% — enough, in his view, to greenlight a hike.
For banks, the transmission mechanism is nuanced. Higher rates typically expand net interest margins as lenders charge more on loans while keeping deposit costs contained. But, they also pressure borrowers, potentially increasing loan delinquencies and slowing mortgage origination.
Prominent names likely to feel these crosscurrents include JPMorgan Chase JPM, Bank of America BAC, Wells Fargo WFC and Citigroup C, each carrying distinct sensitivities to rate movements based on their business mix.

Banking ETFs provide a focused way to gain exposure to the interest-rate environment while reducing single-stock idiosyncratic risk.
After all, the sector's fortunes are directly tethered to the Fed's policy path: rate hikes can boost profitability through wider spreads, but if inflation remains entrenched and forces the central bank into aggressive tightening, the resulting economic slowdown could impair loan books. Amid this uncertainty — with Friday's consumer price index reading still pending and oil markets volatile — bank ETFs provide diversified exposure to an industry whose earnings are closely tied to the macroeconomic variables currently in flux.
Against this backdrop, for investors seeking to position around next week's decision without picking individual winners and losers may want to consider banking funds.

This fund, with a market value of $6.85 billion, offers exposure to 26 companies primarily engaged in U.S. banking activities. BAC holds the first spot in this fund, with an 8.81% weightage, while JPM holds the second spot with 8.54% weightage. WFC holds the third spot in this fund, with an 8.34% weightage, while C holds the 10th spot with 3.98% weightage.
KBWB has rallied 14.2% year to date and charges 35 bps in fees. It traded at a good volume of 1.63 million shares in the last trading session.
State Street SPDR S&P Bank ETF KBE
This fund, with AUM of $1.56 billion, offers exposure to 102 Asset Management & Custody Banks, Diversified Banks, Regional Banks, Diversified Financial Services, and Commercial & Residential Mortgage Finance companies. Jackson Financial holds the first spot in this fund, with a 1.23% weightage, while BAC holds the 10th spot with 1.09% weightage.
KBE has gained 12% year to date and charges 35 bps in fees. It traded at a good volume of 1.27 million shares in the last trading session.
State Street SPDR S&P Regional Banking ETF KRE
This fund, with AUM of $4.30 billion, offers exposure to 158 regional banks. Cullen/Frost Bankers, Inc. holds the first spot in this fund, with a 1.48% weightage.
KRE has risen 13.9% year to date and charges 35 bps in fees. It traded at a good volume of 10.24 million shares in the last trading session.

Bank ETFs in Spotlight as Next Week's Fed Rate Hike Odds Hit 70%

Value stocks are significantly outperforming their growth counterparts this year. The Russell 1000 Value Index has returned roughly 23% year to date, compared with just about 4% for the Russell 1000 Growth Index. Meanwhile, the iShares MSCI USA Value Factor ETF (VLUE) has surged more than 47% year to date.
Some investors have favored attractively valued stocks to reduce their exposure to mega-cap concentration amid heightened market volatility. However, value stocks have also benefited significantly from the AI trade.
While investors traditionally look to growth and tech-focused funds for AI exposure, value ETFs have increasingly become direct and indirect beneficiaries of the AI investment cycle.
Multiples for some tech giants at the forefront of AI deployment have compressed as earnings have accelerated, allowing these legacy tech leaders to be picked up by value screens.
Traditionally value-oriented sectors such as industrials, utilities, and materials have also benefited from rising AI spending.
VLUE tracks the MSCI USA Enhanced Value Index, which scores each security for value characteristics relative to peers within the same GICS sector. Micron (MU) is the fund’s largest position, with about a 22% weight, while information technology accounts for roughly 41% of the portfolio.
The iShares Russell 1000 Value ETF (IWD) tracks the Russell 1000 Value Index. At its rebalance in late June, the index added Amazon (AMZN), Apple (AAPL), and Microsoft (MSFT) as its top holdings. The information technology sector currently accounts for about 20% of the index.
The Vanguard Morningstar Value ETF (VTV) holds large-cap US stocks that display strong value characteristics. JPMorgan Chase (JPM), Micron, and Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) are its top holdings.

Are Value ETFs the New AI Trade?

JPMorgan’s JPM move to expand corporate banking into Greece adds another leg to its broader European growth strategy. By targeting large and mid-sized companies with lending, financing, hedging and investment banking (IB) services, the bank is positioning itself to deepen client relationships and capture a larger share of the corporate wallet.
The expansion also builds on JPMorgan’s recent investment in the region, including a 25% increase in global corporate banking staff across Europe, the Middle East and Africa over the past two years, underscoring its focus on gaining scale and market share across EMEA.
The Greece expansion could strengthen JPMorgan’s revenue opportunity by widening its corporate client base and creating more scope for cross-selling. Beyond traditional lending, the bank can deepen relationships through treasury, payments, liquidity management, risk solutions and IB services. That broader product mix should help JPMorgan generate both net interest income and fee revenues from the same corporate relationships, supporting more diversified growth over time.
JPMorgan has been building its Greek franchise for several years. In 2022, it announced plans for a new Athens office and a Payments Innovation Lab, initially targeting around 50 hires focused on payments technology, distributed-ledger technology, artificial intelligence and cryptography. The bank’s presence in Greece dates back to 1968, and it already provides IB, payments and asset-management services to Greek clients. Separately, JPMorgan consolidated much of its European Union client-facing operations into J.P. Morgan SE in 2022, creating a more scalable structure for serving customers across the region.
For JPMorgan, Greece alone is unlikely to materially impact near-term results, given the bank’s enormous global scale. However, the expansion is strategically positive. Adding corporate relationships in a growing economy can support loan balances, payments activity, advisory fees and capital-markets revenues over time, while JPMorgan’s existing European infrastructure should provide operating leverage as the business scales.
Expansion Efforts by JPMorgan’s Peers
JPM’s two close peers, Citigroup C and Bank of America BAC, have also been strengthening their international corporate-banking capabilities in ways that echo JPMorgan’s broader EMEA push.
Citigroup continues to lean on its global network to deepen relationships with multinational and institutional clients. In 2025, Citigroup expanded its Token Services platform to Dublin and added euro-denominated transactions, improving 24/7 cross-border liquidity and payment capabilities for corporate clients. More recently, the bank strengthened leadership across its Middle East and Africa franchise, where it operates across 59 markets, reinforcing its focus on cross-border banking, client connectivity and regional growth.
Bank of America has likewise been investing in its global corporate-banking platform, particularly through payments and treasury services. In June 2026, the bank announced plans to launch a cross-border real-time payments solution for corporate, commercial and financial-institution clients, extending the capabilities of its CashPro platform. The effort complements Bank of America’s already strong European corporate-banking franchise and could help it capture more payment flows, deepen client engagement and support fee growth.
JPMorgan’s Price Performance, Valuation & Estimates
Over the past six months, JPM shares have gained 25% compared with the industry’s 27.2% growth.
From a valuation standpoint, JPMorgan trades at a 12-month trailing price-to-tangible book (P/TB) of 3.29X, slightly below the industry average.
The Zacks Consensus Estimate for JPMorgan's 2026 earnings suggests a 22.7% rise on a year-over-year basis, while 2027 earnings are expected to grow at a rate of 0.3%. In the past 30 days, earnings estimates for 2026 and 2027 have moved upward to $24.95 and $25.04, respectively.

Gold is a physical asset, Bitcoin isn't
The main reason investors buy gold when they are worried about the economy and stock market is that it is a physical asset with a long history as a store of wealth. It is also used in jewelry and other industrial applications due to its conductivity and malleability. But the big story is that, if the world economic order comes to an abrupt end, history suggests you can use gold as currency.
Bitcoin is a digital asset. Its value is determined by what its holders are willing to pay. It is pitched as a currency, but it's not easily used for that purpose for most consumers. It is also pitched as a store of wealth, but its history is very short, and its value has been shockingly volatile. Most notably, if the power goes out, you can't access your Bitcoin.
Owning Bitcoin is not the same thing as owning a gold coin. In other words, if you are trying to protect against the worst-case scenario, Bitcoin correlating highly with gold isn't meaningful. If you are looking for an easy way to add portfolio diversification, you may find it more compelling. However, you still have to consider the relatively short history of Bitcoin. In fact, Bitcoin didn't even come into existence until the end of the Great Recession. That means there's no history to suggest what will happen to its price during a deep, financially led economic downturn.
Is Bitcoin worth buying?
Bitcoin's increasing correlation with gold could be viewed as a positive for investors who want to use Bitcoin as a diversification tool. But the truth is, there's no material history suggesting it could replace gold on that front. Bitcoin is still very new and is probably best viewed as a speculative investment, if you consider it an investment at all. Simply put, for most investors, it looks like it is too soon to really know what Bitcoin's value is either monetarily or functionally.

When CEOs say their companies' stocks have bottomed, investors tend to listen. But they probably shouldn't. At least not without looking at what they do next.
The truth is, corporate executives know more about their businesses than almost anyone. They see customer orders, hiring trends, inventories, pricing, and cash flow long before most investors have pieced together the same picture from quarterly reports. But knowing your business doesn't make you particularly good at predicting your stock price.

A recent Wall Street Journal analysis looked at roughly 1,400 insider purchases of at least $100,000 at S&P 500 companies over five years. About 75% occurred after the company's stock had fallen. Yet just 15% of those stocks recovered all the way back to their pre-decline price. The median stock gained only about 2% during the month following the insider purchase. And remember, those executives weren't just talking. They were putting their own money on the line.
The trouble with economic forecasting
You have to understand that there's a difference between a CEO calling a bottom in a business and calling a bottom in a stock. Yes, a CEO might know that orders have stopped deteriorating, inventories are normalizing, or customers are returning. Those are legitimate observations based on information coming directly from the business. But the stock market doesn't trade exclusively on company fundamentals.
Interest rates can rise. A recession can hit. Valuations can contract. Competitors can cut prices. Investors can simply decide they're no longer willing to pay 30 times earnings for a stock they previously valued at 50 times earnings.
JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) CEO Jamie Dimon demonstrated the other side of this problem in 2022. He famously warned investors about an economic "hurricane" as inflation surged, the Fed raised interest rates, and Russia's invasion of Ukraine disrupted markets.
Those risks were real. Stocks fell. But the economy never experienced anything resembling the severe downturn many investors interpreted from Dimon's warning. In JPMorgan's following annual report, Dimon acknowledged just how difficult forecasting economic turning points can be, comparing economic forecasting to weather forecasting.
That said, in February 2016, Dimon did tell investors that JPMorgan looked cheap. He even spent $26.6 million buying 500,000 shares during a brutal banking sell-off. The stock jumped 8% the next trading day and gained more than 60% within a year.
Watch what they do, not what they say
CEO predictions become considerably more interesting when they're accompanied by insider buying. Research published in the Journal of Accounting and Economics found that CEO purchases historically generated roughly 2% to 3% abnormal returns. In other words, CEOs buying their own shares have shown some ability to identify undervaluation.
Other research has found similar patterns. A 2026 Journal of Financial Economics study found that executives below the top ranks earned abnormal returns of roughly 0.7% to 1% one month after buying shares of their own companies, depending on the methodology used. Using one of those methods, the abnormal return increased to about 2.5% after six months.
But CEOs can get it wrong, too. One study found that roughly one-third of CEO stock purchases generated negative abnormal returns during the following year. But there are reasons an executive might buy shares besides believing the stock has reached its absolute bottom. Insider buying can demonstrate confidence to employees, shareholders, customers, and even the company's board. Worth noting: One study found that executives who bought shares were less likely to be fired following poor performance. Indeed, that can be a legitimate reason to buy large blocks of stock.
Look for clusters
To be sure, one insider buying $100,000 worth of stock doesn't get me terribly excited. But if the CEO, CFO, and three directors are all buying meaningful amounts of stock after a 50% decline, I'll pay attention. And the signal gets even stronger if the business itself is improving.
Suppose a stock has fallen 60%. The CEO says conditions have bottomed. Then the CEO buys $2 million worth of shares, the CFO buys $500,000, and several directors start buying. Meanwhile, revenue growth begins accelerating, margins stabilize, free cash flow improves, and management raises guidance. Now you've got something far more important than a CEO telling you how cheap a stock is.

Dimon's two-decade tenure
Jamie Dimon became CEO of JPMorgan Chase at the beginning of 2006, following the 2004 merger with Bank One Corporation. This was a pivotal moment in the commercial banking world, as the real estate bubble was heading into overdrive and was about to throw Dimon into the fire.
JPMorgan Chase -- through Dimon and his predecessors -- had the right strategy during the real estate bond boom by building what he calls a "fortress balance sheet" that can survive crises. Competitors became overleveraged on mortgage-backed securities that performed terribly, leading to the crisis we now know as the Great financial crisis.
The bank was not immune to the downturn, but it was one of the few companies that did not need a government bailout (though most banks did receive some form of government assistance to bolster morale). With a stronger balance sheet, JPMorgan was able to buy competitors on the cheap, such as Washington Mutual and Bear Stearns' assets.
We even see this same strategy played out today. During the banking crisis of 2023, JPMorgan acquired First Republic Bank at a dirt cheap price, stabilizing the market and adding tons of new customers. This is why JPMorgan Chase has the most assets of any bank in the United States, at $4.9 trillion. In second place is Bank of America, at $3.5 trillion.
Valuation premium and earnings boost from investment banking
JPMorgan's consumer and commercial banking operations are rock solid, with steadily growing deposit, loan, and card-spending businesses, such as the Chase Sapphire program.
Where the business is shining this year is investment banking, where it has the top ranking for banking fees in 2026, likely due to its prestige and reputation as a solid operator you want in your corner. Investment banking fees were up 30% year over year last quarter and should continue to rise with the Anthropic and OpenAI IPOs (among others) in the pipeline for a record 2026 and early 2027 for capital raising.
With a diversified banking strategy and Dimon at the helm for two decades, JPMorgan commands a premium over its peers. It has a price-to-book value (P/B) of 2.7 and a price-to-earnings ratio (P/E) of 15. The banking sector as a whole has a P/B of 1.66 and a P/E ratio of 12.
Should you buy JPMorgan Chase stock?
A P/E ratio of 15 is undeniably a premium for a slow-growing bank. With a valuation pushing $1 trillion, it is unlikely that JPMorgan Chase stock will deliver hypergrowth returns for your portfolio.
This is not what the stock is meant for. JPMorgan Chase should serve as ballast in your portfolio, delivering steady gains and capital returns through buybacks and dividends. It currently has a dividend yield of 1.7% and has reduced its shares outstanding by 10% over the last five years.
Steady but slow growth, along with these capital returns, should drive earnings per share (EPS) and solid total returns over the long haul, as long as JPMorgan Chase retains its reputation as the premier bank in the United States.

The eVTOL industry could be a massive opportunity. JPMorgan Chase estimates the eVTOL industry could grow into a $1 trillion market by 2040. Archer and Joby are two top stocks to consider, but one stands out as a better buy right now. Here's what investors need to know.
Archer and Joby are making test flights across the U.S.
In June 2025, the White House unveiled Executive Order 14307, titled "Unleashing American Drone Dominance." As part of this, the White House unveiled the eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP), overseen by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The eIPP aims to test and safely integrate eVTOL aircraft into the U.S. national airspace by creating real-world testing environments across the country. For Archer and Joby, this program enables them to kick-start regional flight networks and demonstrate operational readiness alongside their formal FAA Type Certification process.
In April 2026, Joby made its New York City debut, flying from downtown Manhattan to John F. Kennedy International Airport. As part of the eIPP, it has been approved to fly across 11 states, including California, Texas, and Florida, and it plans its first eIPP flights in Texas this month. This week-long test campaign will help it test real-world operations with company pilots only.
Archer is also taking flight. In July 2026, the company completed a piloted round trip between Salinas and Monterey, California. The company also has plans for a "No Roads" flight tour as part of the eIPP, which kicked off on Sept. 4.
Archer and Joby are in a tight race to achieve FAA certification
On operational readiness, Archer and Joby are neck and neck. Both companies are demonstrating their flights through the eIPP and navigating the later stages of the FAA's Type Certification Process.
This certification approves that the aircraft's design complies with federal airworthiness and safety standards and paves the way for Archer and Joby to begin mass production and commercial passenger operations. Both companies are well along in this process, though Joby currently has a slight lead.
Both companies have growing defense businesses
Beyond passenger flights, both Archer and Joby are building strong defense businesses. On Aug. 10, Archer acquired Boeing's Wisk Aero, SkyGrid, and Insitu in an all-stock deal. Wisk expands Archer's autonomous flight capabilities. SkyGrid gives it an air traffic management solution for the future of automated airspace. Finally, Insitu provides uncrewed aircraft systems used for intelligence and reconnaissance operations.
Joby secured the U.S. military's first-ever airworthiness approval in 2020. It has an Agility Prime contract with the U.S. Air Force, with a ceiling of $131 million. In addition, on Aug. 11, Joby announced it would acquire Resonant Sciences, a Dayton, Ohio-based defense technology company. Resonant specializes in radio frequency, stealth design, and sensing systems.
Here is what differentiates the two eVTOL companies
One key difference between Joby and Archer is their business models. Joby operates a vertically integrated model, building, owning, and running the air taxi service. Its goal is to maintain strict quality control by bringing the entire manufacturing process under one roof. Archer relies more on aerospace suppliers such as Garmin and Honeywell Aerospace. This allows it to move faster, but could reduce its long-term margins.
In terms of capital, Joby has $2.3 billion in cash and short-term investments, while Archer has $1.6 billion. Through the first six months of 2026, Joby has a net loss of $355 million, while Archer has lost $480 million. Joby currently makes money through Blade Mobility, while Archer's acquisition of Insitu gives it a profitable company that generates roughly $200 million in annual revenue.
Which stock is a better buy: Archer or Joby?
Both companies are still a ways from operating profitability as they continue to invest heavily in research and development to gain FAA approval and scale up manufacturing.
If you believe in Archer's capital-light model that relies on existing supply chains, it could be the stock for you. If you believe in vertical integration and potential for higher profit margins, Joby Aviation is the stock to go with. With that in mind, investing in either eVTOL stock carries significant risk, so size your position accordingly.

2026 is the year of the initial public offering (IPO) resurgence. After hitting a high of 1,035 IPOs in 2021 during the special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) craze, there were only 181 the year after when the S&P 500 lost almost 20% of its value in 2022. Since then, there have been limited high-profile IPOs, until recently.
2026 has already seen the two largest IPOs ever. Space Exploration Technologies debuted with $86.7 billion raised, while just a few weeks later, South Korean memory company SK Hynix raised $26.5 billion. On the heels of that, the artificial intelligence (AI) company Anthropic, maker of the Claude large language model (LLM), plans to go public by the end of October. According to reports, it's aiming to raise up to $100 billion.

Just in time, fintech powerhouse Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ: HOOD) has been approved by regulators to start underwriting stocks, and it just got its first job.
More power to retail investors
Robinhood was the first trading platform to offer fee-free trades, starting a revolution for retail investors. Today, fee-free trades are the norm. Robinhood has remained the home for retail investors who band together to spark change, like they did last year with Opendoor Technologies.
Management is committed to breaking down barriers in finance, and it rolls out new products all the time. "Robinhood exists to make everyone an owner," CEO Vlad Tenev said on the second-quarter earnings call. It offers IPO access to its users, and it was one of the five platforms chosen for retail investor access to the Space Exploration Technologies IPO in June. At that time, Robinhood received regulatory approval to become an underwriter. "We intend to be disruptive in this space," Tenev said.
Underwriting is the process of preparing a company to go public, including preparing all regulatory filings, helping set a price, buying the stock to sell to the public, and other activities. Most companies have a lead underwriting institution, plus others that help market and sell the stock.
Robinhood secured its first underwriting role for fitness-tracking ring company Oura, which filed to go public last week. It was listed last, behind 17 other underwriters led by Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and JPMorgan Chase, but it opens up a new addressable market for the financial disruptor.
That doesn't mean it will get a shot at Anthropic's IPO or OpenAI's whenever it goes public. But Robinhood has a history of wedging itself into legacy spaces in finance, and this broadens its ecosystem, making it a more powerful player.

As Anthropic's IPO Looms, This Small Financial Powerhouse Just Got Its First Underwriting Job

In trading on Wednesday, shares of JPMorgan Chase & Co's 4.75% Dep Shares Non-Cumulative Preferred Stock Series GG (Symbol: JPM.PRJ) were yielding above the 6.5% mark based on its quarterly dividend (annualized to $1.1875), with shares changing hands as low as $18.23 on the day. This compares to an average yield of 6.88% in the "Financial" preferred stock category, according to Preferred Stock Channel. As of last close, JPM.PRJ was trading at a 26.48% discount to its liquidation preference amount, versus the average discount of 14.20% in the "Financial" category. Investors should keep in mind that the shares are not cumulative, meaning that in the event of a missed payment, the company does not have to pay the balance of missed dividends to preferred shareholders before resuming a common dividend.
