AbbVie Inc. ABBV reported first-quarter 2026 adjusted EPS of $2.65, which beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.62. The reported figure also exceeded the company’s guidance of $2.56-$2.60 issued earlier this month. Earnings rose 7.7% year over year.
ABBV’s revenues of $15.0 billion beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $14.78 billion. Sales rose 12.4% year over year on a reported basis and 10.3% on an operational basis. This reported figure surpassed the company’s forecast of $14.70 billion.
Revenues in the quarter were driven by robust sales of key drugs Rinvoq, Skyrizi, Venclexta and Vraylar, coupled with significant contributions from newer drugs, namely Ubrelvy, Qulipta, Elahere and Vyalev. Sales of Humira and Imbruvica declined year over year.
All growth rates mentioned below are on a year-on-year basis and at constant exchange rates (CER).
Immunology Drugs Drive ABBV’s Top Line
In immunology, net revenues from Rinvoq for the quarter totaled $2.12 billion, up 20.2%. The upside was likely driven by market share gains across all approved indications, as well as the recent label expansion in giant cell arteritis across the United States and the EU last year. Rinvoq’s sales beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.09 billion.
Net revenues recorded from Skyrizi were $4.48 billion, up 29.2%. This surge in sales was primarily driven by strong volume growth and continued market share gains. Skyrizi sales beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $4.41 billion.
AbbVie’s flagship product Humira recorded a sales decline of 40.3% to $688 million for the quarter. Sales in the United States declined 52% to $357 million, while ex-U.S. market sales were down 17.4% to $331 million. The drug’s overall sales missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $697 million.
This substantial decline in Humira sales was due to the drug’s loss of exclusivity in the United States since January 2023. The drug lost its exclusivity in ex-U.S. territories in 2018.
ABBV Neuroscience Drugs’ Performance
Sales from the neuroscience portfolio rose 24.3% to $2.88 billion, driven by higher sales of Botox Therapeutic, depression drug Vraylar, Parkinson's disease drug Vyalev and migraine drugs Ubrelvy and Qulipta. The franchise’s sales beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.83 billion. The reported sales numbers surpassed AbbVie’s forecast of $2.8 billion from the segment.
While Botox Therapeutic sales rose 14.9% to $1.01 billion, sales of Vraylar increased 18.4% to $905 million.
Sales of Ubrelvy totaled $339 million, up 41.2%. Qulipta sales rose 51.3% to $296 million.
Sales of Vyalev totaled $201 million, up from $183 million in the previous quarter. The drug’s sales were in line with the Zacks Consensus Estimate.
ABBV Oncology Drugs’ Performance
Sales from the oncology franchise fell 3% to $1.63 billion in the quarter. This downtick was due to declining Imbruvica sales, which more than offset the growth in sales of newer oncology drugs, Epkinly and Elahere, as well as rising Venclexta sales. Despite the decline, the metric beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.57 billion. The reported sales figure marginally surpassed the company’s guidance of $1.6 billion.
Net revenues from Imbruvica were down 24.7% to $556 million, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $565 million. AbbVie markets this drug in partnership with Johnson & Johnson JNJ.
U.S. sales of J&J-partnered Imbruvica declined 37.4% to $332 million due to rising competition from novel oral treatments, as well as the IRA-driven pricing changes, which came into effect at the start of 2026. AbbVie shares international profits earned from Imbruvica with J&J. The company’s share of profit from the drug’s international sales rose 7.2% to $224 million.
AbbVie’s leukemia drug Venclexta generated revenues of $770 million in the reported quarter, reflecting growth of 9.7%. This drug’s sales beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $719 million. The company markets Venclexta in collaboration with Roche RHHBY.
Sales of the breast cancer drug, Elahere, rose 8.3% to $198 million. However, the metric missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $206 million.
Epkinly sales, which comprise AbbVie’s share of profit from U.S. revenues and product revenues from international markets, amounted to $83 million in the quarter compared with $81 million in the previous quarter. The drug is marketed in partnership with Genmab GMAB.
ABBV’s Aesthetics & Other Drugs
AbbVie’s aesthetics portfolio sales were up 5.1% to $1.19 billion, which marginally beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.18 billion. Botox Cosmetic sales rose 17% to $668 million. Juvederm sales declined 2.9% to $232 million.
While Mavyret sales rose 8.6% to $351 million, Creon sales stood at $361 million, up 1.8%. Linzess sales rose 90.9% to $283 million.
Cost Discussion
Adjusted SG&A expenses rose 3.7% year over year to $3.4 billion. Adjusted R&D expenses amounted to $2.27 billion, up 10.6%.
AbbVie Raises 2026 EPS Guidance
The company raised its EPS guidance for the full year. It expects adjusted EPS to be in the range of $14.08-$14.28, up from the previous guidance of $13.96-$14.16.
Our Take on ABBV’s Results
AbbVie’s quarterly results beat expectations. The company hiked its EPS guidance for 2026, likely driven by stronger-than-expected sales of its immunology and neuroscience products. The aesthetics franchise continued recovery in the segment after a prolonged period of soft performance, while oncology sales beat expectations despite a year-over-year decline.
Shares of AbbVie were up in pre-market trading today, likely due to the encouraging guidance update. Year to date, the stock has lost over 13% compared with the industry’s 7% decline.

The neuroscience franchise continues to gain traction, supported by newer assets like Ubrelvy, Qulipta and Vyalev. Strong sales of Linzess and Mavyret helped offset weakness in Humira and Imbruvica.
To offset the declines from its legacy products, AbbVie is strengthening its long-term growth platform through M&A activity and internal innovation. The recent regulatory filing to expand Rinvoq’s label into alopecia areata further supports its strategy of driving sustained growth through additional immunology indications.
The FDA is currently reviewing the company’s filings — one for pivekimab sunirine (PVEK) to treat a rare and aggressive blood cancer called blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) and another for tavapadon in early Parkinson’s disease. Both assets, added through prior acquisitions, could serve as additional growth drivers if approved.

ABBV Beats on Q1 Earnings & Sales, Raises '26 EPS View

GSK plc GSK reported first-quarter 2026 core earnings of $1.26 per American depositary share (ADS), which beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.16. Core earnings rose 4% year over year on a reported basis and 9% at a constant exchange rate (CER), driven by higher sales turnover, favorable product mix and higher royalty income during the quarter.
Quarterly revenues rose 2% on a reported basis and 5% at CER to $10.30 billion (£7.63 billion). This upside was attributed to the rising sales of its HIV, oncology and respiratory medicines. The top line also beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $10.19 billion.
All growth rates mentioned below are on a year-over-year basis and at CER.
GSK’s Q1 Segmental Discussion
GSK reports under three segments — General Medicines, Specialty Medicines and Vaccines. While sales in the Specialty Medicines increased 14%, the Vaccine segment rose 4%. Sales in the General Medicines segment, however, declined 6% on a year-over-year basis.
GSK’s Specialty Medicines Aid Top Line
HIV Sales
HIV sales rose 10% in the first quarter of 2026, driven by an increase in patient demand for Dovato as well as long-acting medications, Apretude and Cabenuva. Sales in the quarter also benefited from favorable pricing due to channel mix, which offset the impact of regional pricing pressures.
GSK generates the majority of its HIV sales from its dolutegravir franchise, comprising two-drug regimens — Dovato and J&J JNJ-partnered Juluca — and three-drug regimens — Triumeq and Tivicay.
Dovato sales rose 20%, while those of the J&J-partnered Juluca declined 3%.
Tivicay sales rose 2% during the quarter, while those of Triumeq fell 27%.
Sales of Apretude and Cabenuva rose 44% and 31%, respectively. These two long-acting medicines currently account for more than a quarter of HIV sales.
Oncology Sales
Oncology sales rose 28%, driven by strong demand for Jemperli, Ojjaara/Omjjara and Blenrep.
Jemperli sales rose 40% during the first quarter, driven by increased patient uptake across the United States and Europe following the drug’s label expansion to treat all adult patients with primary advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer.
Sales of the blood cancer drug Ojjaara/Omjjara rose 34%, primarily driven by strong patient uptake and continued commercial launches across Europe and international markets. U.S. volume growth was partly offset by ongoing pricing pressures.
Zejula sales fell 11% in the quarter due to increased competition in Europe and significant volume reduction in the United States.
Respiratory, Immunology & Inflammation Sales
Respiratory, Immunology & Inflammation sales increased 16%, driven by Nucala and Exdensur in respiratory and Benlysta in immunology.
Sales of the respiratory drug Nucala were up 12% during the quarter, mainly driven by strong performance across all markets, especially the United States, where the drug recently received label expansion in the COPD indication. This upside was partially offset by continued pricing pressures and channel mix impacts.
Sales of the immuno-inflammation drug Benlysta were up 13% in the quarter, reflecting strong product demand across all marketed territories.
GSK’s Vaccine Sales Up
In Vaccines, sales growth was mainly driven by increased uptake of shingles vaccines in Europe, partly offset by lower sales of Other Paediatric & Adult vaccines.
Sales of the company’s shingles vaccine, Shingrix, rose 20% during the quarter, driven by strong growth, especially in Europe and the United States, as well as favorable channel inventory movement. Lower sales in international markets partially offset this growth.
In Meningitis vaccines, sales of Bexsero rose 5%, while Menveo sales were down 25%. Sales of the RSV vaccine, Arexvy, plunged 18% during the quarter, due to slower market demand in the United States.
Influenza vaccine sales rose more than 100% during the quarter.
Sales of Other Paediatric & Adult vaccines (previously known as Established vaccines) fell 9%, owing to competitive pressure for Synflorix, primarily in Emerging Markets and lower sales for Hepatitis, Boostrix and Infanrix/Pediarix vaccines in the United States and international markets.
GSK’s General Medicines Fall
In this segment, Anoro Ellipta sales increased 2%, while sales of Relvar/Breo Ellipta declined 12%. Ventolin sales declined 19%.
While Advair/Seretide sales declined 11%, sales of Flixotide/Flovent increased 35%.
Trelegy Ellipta was flat year over year during the quarter. U.S. sales declined due to Medicare benefit design changes and unfavorable pricing and channel mix. Strong volume growth in Europe and international markets was driven by patient demand.
Operating Expenses
Core selling, general and administration costs declined 2% to £1.98 billion, driven by ongoing productivity initiatives and net legal settlements and expenses.
Core research and development expenses rose 12% to £1.49 billion. This uptick highlights the company’s continued investment in pipeline development.
GSK Maintains 2026 Guidance
GSK reiterated its total revenue guidance for 2026, which it had provided earlier this year. The company continues to expect sales to increase 3-5% during the year.
GSK expects sales of Specialty Medicines to increase by a low double-digit percentage at CER in 2026. However, management forecasts sales across the General Medicines and Vaccines franchises to either decline by a low single-digit percentage or remain broadly stable.
GSK expects both core operating profit and core EPS to grow in the range of 7-9%.
R&D is expected to increase at a rate slightly higher than sales growth, while SG&A is expected to grow at a low single-digit percentage. The adjusted tax rate is expected to be around 17.5%.
Our Take on GSK’s Results
GSK reported better-than-expected first-quarter results, driven by strong demand for its Specialty Medicines portfolio. Growth in the Vaccines business also helped offset weaker sales in the General Medicines segment. Although U.S. sales were partly impacted by continued pricing pressures from the Medicare Part D redesign, softer demand for Arexvy, and flat sales of Trelegy Ellipta, these headwinds were more than offset by higher demand for other products, including Dovato, Cabenuva, Apretude, Jemperli, Ojjaara/Omjjara and Nucala.
GSK maintained its outlook for full-year 2026. The company also reiterated its outlook for 2031, expecting to generate sales of more than £40 billion.
Despite the better-than-expected results, shares of GSK were trading down in pre-market today.
The stock has increased 11% year to date against the industry’s decline of 1.6%.

GSK Q1 Earnings Beat Estimates, Specialty Medicines Drive Sales Growth

Investment banker Goldman Sachs recently raised its price target for UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (UNH) shares from $400 to $435, citing the company’s increased full-year guidance, announced in its latest quarterly results release, as evidence of UnitedHealth’s long-term earnings growth potential (as cited in Investing.com).
Notably, Goldman Sachs expects UnitedHealth to return to at least 13% to 16% earnings per share growth over the next several years as it executes its business recovery.
While this upgrade, following UNH’s recently released better-than-expected first-quarter 2026 results, may tempt investors to add the stock to their portfolios immediately, a significant headwind remains on the horizon. Legislative changes enacted last year have led to major funding cuts in Medicaid for 2026, putting UNH’s Medicaid business under intense margin pressure. In fact, the company’s management has already signaled expectations for membership attrition and negative margins within this specific segment throughout the year.
However, for those who want to gain exposure to UnitedHealth’s growth while mitigating the idiosyncratic risks of its Medicaid business, diversified healthcare exchange-traded funds (ETFs) offer a more prudent path. UnitedHealth’s first-quarter adjusted earnings per share (EPS) surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 11.9%, while its revenues beat the consensus mark by 2.1%. On a year-over-year basis, the company delivered a solid performance on both counts.
Its first-quarter operating cost ratio came in at 13.8%, up year over year from 12.4%, reflecting the timing of targeted investments across operations, technology and care delivery as well as incremental investments in areas such as AI, customer experience, cybersecurity and community engagement.
UNH was successful in bringing its debt-to-capital ratio down to 42.9% by the end of the first quarter and remains on track to end this year with its goal of achieving a 40% debt-to-capital ratio.
From the viewpoint of the share buyback program, the company initiated share repurchases earlier than anticipated and expects to deploy at least $2 billion by the end of the second quarter of 2026.
As far as its Optum Rx business is concerned, UnitedHealth started 2026 by onboarding more than 800 new clients, while reducing contact call center volume 25% through enhanced digital and AI-enabled self-service, with member satisfaction reaching more than 95%.
Within areas like consumer member experience, UNH recently launched Avery, a generative AI chatbot answering member questions for UnitedHealthcare. The company aims to expand this chatbot to include over 20 million members by the end of 2026.
Meanwhile, Optum Real, an AI-first platform that UNH launched a couple of quarters ago, now has 0.5 billion transactions year to date, with the company expecting to close the year at over 2.5 billion transactions.
Analysts’ Reactions
Following UNH’s Q1 results, analysts from varied firms, apart from Goldman Sachs, have upgraded their price target for this stock, showing renewed optimism in its progress.
For example, Morgan Stanley recently raised its price target on UNH from $375 to $395, while maintaining its “Overweight” rating. Other renowned institutions like Deutsche Bank raised its price target on UnitedHealth from $304 to $360, while maintaining a Hold rating, following the company’s first-quarter results.

Pharma giants Eli Lily LLY (13.12%), Johnson & Johnson JNJ (10.15%) and AbbVie ABBV (6.52%) hold the top three spots in this fund.

Of these, UnitedHealth Group takes the fifth spot, accounting for a 3.94% share. LLY (11.89%), JNJ (9.34%) and ABBV (6.18%) hold the top three spots in this fund.

Goldman Sachs Lifts UnitedHealth Target Price: Healthcare ETFs to Watch

Every American knows that healthcare isn't cheap. Healthcare costs continue to rise. Some healthcare stocks are cheap, though, including the stocks of some of the world's biggest drugmakers.
Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) (NYSE: BMY) is one of them. To be sure, BMS isn't the biggest pharma stock. Its market cap of around $120 billion ranks it just outside the top 10 largest drugmakers. But is BMS the best bargain in big pharma?

Some persuasive numbers
A quick look at BMS's valuation metrics might convince you that this stock is a bona fide bargain. For example, the average price-to-sales ratio for pharmaceutical companies is around 4.4. BMS's shares trade at only 2.5 times sales.
The company's bottom line appears to scream "bargain", too. BMS's forward price-to-earnings ratio is a low 9.4. The healthcare sector's average forward earnings multiple is 17.3.
Some investors prefer to use enterprise value (EV) to value companies because it accounts for debt. BMS's EV/EBITDA multiple of 10.3 also looks attractive compared to most other drugmakers. Lilly is super-expensive with its EV/EBITDA of around 27. AbbVie (NYSE: ABBV), AstraZeneca (NYSE: AZN), and Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) also sport much higher EV-based multiples than BMS.
What about a deeper dive into BMS's valuation? At least one discounted cash flow model estimates that the pharma stock is significantly undervalued, with an upside of roughly 40%.
Valuation metrics can be misleading
BMS looks like a value stock from nearly every angle. However, valuation metrics can be misleading. Specifically, most of them don't account for a company's growth prospects over the next several years. Unfortunately, BMS's growth will almost certainly slow drastically.
The company faces a daunting patent cliff. U.S. patents for blood thinner Eliquis and cancer immunotherapy Opdivo expire in 2028. Last year, Eliquis was BMS's top-selling drug, while Opdivo ranked No. 2. Their combined sales make up nearly half of the company's total revenue.
BMS won't have to wait until its top two blockbusters lose exclusivity to encounter problems. Cancer drugs Abraxane, Pomalyst, Revlimid, and Sprycel have already lost patent exclusivity. The company expects revenue to decrease slightly this year compared to 2025.
Stocks are usually cheap for a reason. BMS is no exception. Investors have given the stock a low valuation because they know the growth prospects aren't appealing over the rest of the decade.
Granted, BMS has a promising growth portfolio that includes cancer drug Opdualag, autoimmune disease drug Sotyktu, and heart disease drug Camzyos. Combined sales from all of the drugs in the company's growth portfolio rose 17% year over year in 2025. However, BMS's legacy drugs still comprise roughly 45% of revenue.
The biggest bargain in big pharma?
Probably the best argument against Bristol Myers Squibb being the biggest bargain in big pharma is that several other stocks have even lower valuation metrics. Pfizer (NYSE: PFE), for example, boasts a lower forward P/E multiple of 9.1. Factoring in growth projections over the next five years, AbbVie looks more attractively valued.
However, BMS doesn't have to be the biggest bargain in big pharma to still be a good pick for some investors. Many income investors will love the company's forward dividend yield of 4.3% and its record of increasing dividends for 17 consecutive years. A lack of growth won't be as concerning to most income investors. As long as BMS can keep the dividends flowing, they'll be happy.
Some value investors may still find BMS appealing, especially those with long investment horizons. The company's growth portfolio should steadily generate a larger share of its revenue. BMS CEO Chris Boerner believes that his company has "the potential to achieve industry-leading, sustainable growth into the 2030s and beyond." If you're willing to wait, BMS could deliver solid total returns.

Vystar Corporation (VYST) has entered into a binding letter of intent to acquire a 50% interest in R3alm Inc., a compliance-focused AI and Web3 financial ecosystem.
Under the proposed transaction, R3alm would receive approximately 8,500 shares of Vystar Series B preferred stock, and both parties would jointly manage and develop the platform. Closing is expected within 60 days, subject to approval conditions.
VYST closed Thursday's trade at $0.33, up 3.13%.
Eli Lilly and Company (LLY) and Kelonia Therapeutics, Inc., announced a definitive agreement for Lilly to acquire Kelonia and Kelonia shareholders will receive up to $7 billion in cash, including an upfront payment of $3.25 billion and subsequent payments upon achievement of certain clinical, regulatory, and commercial milestones.
The acquisition may expand Lilly's genetic medicine capabilities with in vivo gene delivery and integration technology. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2026, subject to conditions.

QuidelOrtho Corporation (QDEL), a diagnostics company, announced that it has completed the acquisition of LEX Diagnostics, the developer of the FDA-cleared LEX VELO system, for a cash consideration of approximately $100 million.
QuidelOrtho stated that the acquisition of LEX would accelerate growth in its point-of-care molecular diagnostics market, and the company anticipates launching the LEX VELO system in the U.S. later this year, with global expansion planned.

Amneal Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (AMRX), a generic medicine and biosimilar manufacturer, announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Kashiv BioSciences in a transaction that includes $375 million of cash and $375 million of equity payable at closing and up to $350 million in potential regulatory milestones and royalty payments.
The transaction positions Amneal to capitalise on more than $300 billion in global biologic drug sales expected to lose exclusivity over the next decade.
The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2026, subject to approval conditions.

Genenta Science S.p.A. (GNTA)?has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a controlling stake in Sòphia High Tech S.r.l., a manufacturer of precision mechanical components used in European space and defence programs
As per the agreement terms, Genenta will invest 6.0 million euros in two tranches. The first tranche will give the company a 19.9% stake, while completion of the second tranche will increase ownership to 51%, making Sophia High Tech a majority-owned subsidiary.

Monopar Therapeutics Inc. (MNPR), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, announced new analyses of promising results from FoCus, a pivotal Phase 3 trial evaluating ALXN1840 (Tiomolibidate choline, TMC), an investigational oral daily treatment for Wilson Disease.
The Phase 3 FoCus trial evaluated the safety and efficacy of ALXN1840 for the treatment of Wilson disease compared with standard-of-care treatments.
ALXN1840 showed rapid and sustained copper mobilisation over 48 weeks, thus meeting its primary endpoint, and also demonstrated a favourable safety and tolerability profile across 645 patient-years of follow-up in 266 patients, with a median follow-up of 2.58 years.

Kyverna Therapeutics, Inc. (KYTX), a late-stage clinical biopharmaceutical company, announced positive primary analysis results from its registrational Phase 2 trial, KYSA-8, of miv-cel (KYV-101), a CD19 CAR T-cell product candidate for stiff person syndrome.
The trial met its primary endpoint, demonstrating a statistically significant improvement in the Timed 25-Foot Walk?(T25FW) at week 16, with a median improvement of 46% from baseline.
The trial met all secondary endpoints, with significant mean improvements in mRS, HAI, DSI, and HSS of -0.8, -1.6, -1.5, and -3.2 points, respectively.
Miv-cel demonstrated a well-tolerated and manageable safety profile.

Zymeworks Inc. (ZYME) presented new Phase 1 data for its folate receptor alpha (FRa)-targeting antibody-drug conjugate (ADC), ZW191, demonstrating encouraging anti-tumour activity in heavily pretreated ovarian and endometrial cancers, with responses observed regardless of FRa expression levels.
In platinum-resistant ovarian cancer, ZW191 achieved a confirmed objective response rate (cORR) of 56% across all dose levels, with tumour regression in 68% of patients and disease control in 94%. At doses of 6.4-9.6 mg/kg, responses were even stronger.
Investigators noted the safety profile was manageable with no unexpected signals.

Through 120 weeks of follow-up, IMAAVY delivered sustained clinical improvements and reductions in total IgG in antibody-positive adult patients, including anti-AChR+ and anti-MuSK+.

Novo Nordisk (NVO) has reported positive topline results from the PIONEER TEENS?trial that evaluated oral Semaglutide in 132 children and adolescents aged 10-17 years with type 2 diabetes.
Oral semaglutide demonstrated a superior reduction in HbA1C, a measure of blood sugar control over placebo in the trial and showed a well-tolerated safety profile consistent with previous Novo Nordisk semaglutide trials.
The therapy delivered a statistically significant and superior reduction in blood sugar compared with placebo at 26 weeks, the primary endpoint.

Weekly Buzz: SNY, REGN Get FDA Nod; It's A No For ABBV, GRCE; LLY Acquires Kelonia

(RTTNews) - Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) has reported long-term data showing IMAAVY (Nipocalimab) maintained disease control for more than two years in adults with generalized myasthenia gravis, reinforcing its potential as a durable treatment option.
Generalised myasthenia gravis (gMG) is a chronic autoimmune condition where antibodies disrupt communication between nerves and muscles, leading to weakness, difficulties in speech swallowing, and mobility. Sustained disease control is a critical goal, as it reduces flare-ups and helps maintain daily function.
The Phase 3 Vivacity-MG3 study, followed by an open-label extension, tracked patients for up to 120 weeks. Results showed consistent improvements in muscle strength and daily living scores, with nearly one-third of patients achieving sustained minimal symptom expression (MSE)- a state where symptoms have little day-to-day impact.
Importantly, corticosteroid use was reduced in more than half of participants, and no unexpected safety concerns emerged. The most common side effects included muscle spasms, peripheral swelling, and changes in lipid levels.
A post-hoc analysis highlighted that patients who reached sustained MSE experienced greater improvements in quality of life compared to those with transient or no MSE. This patient-centric outcome underscores the therapy's potential to deliver meaningful, lasting relief.
Nipocalimab works by blocking the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn), lowering harmful lgG antibodies while preserving essential immune functions. It is already approved in the European Union as an add-on therapy for antibody-positive gMG patients aged 12 and older. Beyond gMG, the drug is being studied in other autoimmune and maternal-fetal conditions, with several regulatory designations including FDA Fast Track and Breakthrough Therapy status.
The new findings, presented at the American Academy of Neurology 2026 Meeting, mark one of the longest follow-up periods reported for a FcRn blocker in gMG. Johnson & Johnson emphasized that these results strengthen the evidence base for Nipocalimab and highlight its role in reshaping long-term treatment strategies for patients living with this debilitating disease.
JNJ has traded between $146.12 and $251.71 over the past year. The stock closed Thursday's trading at $230.65, up 2.01%. During overnight trading, the stock is at $230.25.

Johnson & Johnson's IMAAVY Shows Two Years Of GMG Control

Shares of Spyre Therapeutics SYRE have surged 73% over the past month after the company reported encouraging data from a mid-stage study evaluating its investigational anti-α4β7 drug, SPY001, in patients with moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis (UC).
The drug met the primary endpoint, delivering a statistically significant 9.2-point reduction in the Robarts Histopathology Index (RHI) — a key measure of tissue-level inflammation in UC — after 12 weeks of treatment. Data from the study showed that treatment with the drug achieved a 40% clinical remission rate and a 51% endoscopic improvement rate.
In addition to strong efficacy, SPY001 demonstrated a favorable safety profile that was consistent with the α4β7 class. Spyre reported that six participants experienced treatment-emergent adverse events, including one serious adverse event that was not considered drug-related. The most common side-effect was back pain.
These results come from Part A of the SKYLINE study, which is evaluating Spyre’s anti-TL1A antibody SPY002 and anti-IL-23 antibody SPY003. While Part A is an open-label phase assessing each drug individually, Part B will be a randomized, placebo-controlled stage evaluating different doses and combinations of these therapies.
Initial data from the SPY002 and SPY003 cohorts in Part A of the SKYLINE study are expected in mid-2026 and the third quarter of 2026, respectively.
What Makes SYRE’s Results So Special?
SPY001 targets the same α4β7 integrin pathway as Takeda Pharmaceutical’s TAK blockbuster drug Entyvio (vedolizumab), a well-established therapy in UC. Spyre has designed its drug with an extended half-life and optimized dosing, which may enable higher drug exposure and potentially less frequent maintenance dosing than the TAK drug, improving both efficacy and patient convenience.
This differentiated profile likely contributed to the recent surge in SYRE shares. Year to date, the stock has rallied 123% compared with the industry’s 1% growth.

The company highlighted that SPY001’s efficacy compares favorably not only within the α4β7 class but against therapies across other mechanisms. In a conference call, management claimed that the efficacy data reported in the SKYLINE study were higher than those reported for either combination component in Johnson & Johnson’s JNJ mid-stage VEGA study.
This J&J study evaluated the IL-23 inhibitor Tremfya (guselkumab) and anti-TNF therapy Simponi (golimumab) as induction therapy in UC patients, aiming to improve outcomes by targeting multiple inflammatory pathways simultaneously.

If durability metrics develop favorably, that kind of intracranial activity can support clinical positioning in patients at high risk for brain metastases, where prescribers often weigh CNS control heavily. The planned progression-free survival update in the second quarter of 2026 is therefore a pivotal readout for how far this signal can translate into a more durable benefit profile.

The flip side of a focused thesis is concentration. BDTX’s valuation and long-term prospects remain heavily dependent on silevertinib, which is its only wholly owned clinical asset.
That dependence amplifies volatility around each update and makes timeline execution unusually important. Any clinical, regulatory, or development setback would have an outsized impact because there is no approved product base to offset disappointment.

The near-term calendar centers on additional NSCLC updates in 2026, including duration of response and progression-free survival data, with the progression-free survival update expected in the second quarter of 2026. The next milestone is the initiation of the randomized phase II GBM study in the first half of 2026.
Looking further out, interim GBM data are anticipated in 2028, and the company has guided that its cash runway extends into the second half of 2028, supported by $128.7 million in cash, cash equivalents, and investments at year-end 2025. In a competitive EGFR landscape that includes AstraZeneca AZN with Tagrisso and Johnson & Johnson JNJ with the Rybrevant plus Lazcluze regimen, sustaining a differentiated CNS profile is the clearest path to stand out.
