Honda Motor Co., Ltd. develops, manufactures, and distributes motorcycles, automobiles, power, and other products in Japan, North America, Europe, Asia, and internationally. It operates through four segments: Motorcycle Business, Automobile Business, Financial Services Business, and Power Product and Other Businesses. The Motorcycle Business segment produces motorcycles, including sports, business, and commuter models; and various off-road vehicles, such as all-terrain vehicles and side-by-sides. The Automobile Business segment offers passenger cars, light trucks, and mini vehicles. The Financial Services Business segment provides various financial services, including retail lending and leasing services to customers, as well as wholesale financing services to dealers. The Power Product and Other Businesses manufactures and sells power products, such as general purpose engines, lawn mowers, generators, water pumps, brush cutters, tillers, outboard marine engines, and snow throwers. This segment also offers HondaJet aircraft. The company also sells spare parts; and provides after-sale services through retail dealers directly, as well as through independent distributors and licensees. Honda Motor Co., Ltd. was founded in 1946 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

Honda appears to be a company with a noticeably lower valuation than the typical industry peer, but the quality of its profitability does not yet support a strong premium in the share price. The P/E, P/S, and P/B multiples are significantly below the sector median, which suggests potential undervaluation; however, the P/FCF is zero, which reduces confidence in free cash flow as a valuation anchor. The business return profile is mixed: net margin is slightly better than the industry, but ROE, ROA, ROI, and return on tangible capital are noticeably weaker than the median, meaning capital is not being used as efficiently as it could be. Operating margin and gross margin are also below industry benchmarks, and their historical trend does not show convincing improvement, which limits re-rating potential. At the same time, revenue, operating profit, and net income in the latest period increased compared with previous values, which is an important positive and indicates that the business has maintained its scale. The balance sheet looks acceptable: cash on hand and the quick ratio support liquidity, the current ratio is close to neutral, but the debt burden as measured by debt/equity and the growth in long-term debt create moderate risk for shareholders. Equity and net worth remain substantial, but the decline in total shareholder equity over the years points to pressure on the balance sheet’s capitalization. Dividend yield has increased and looks attractive for an income-oriented investor, but on its own it does not offset the weakness in part of the profitability profile. Overall, the fundamentals support a moderately cautious view: the stock looks inexpensive, but not strong enough in earnings quality and efficiency to justify an aggressive upward revision. For the target valuation, this implies a slight downward adjustment, reflecting weak margins, low returns on capital, and rising debt, while still recognizing the positives of low multiples, liquidity, and dividends.

Caterpillar’s shares have outperformed the Zacks Manufacturing - Construction and Mining industry over the year-to-date period (+50.8% vs. +47.4%). The company’s outlook is supported by broad demand across construction, mining and power markets, with rising sales to users and a record backlog improving revenue visibility. Order momentum remains strong across all primary segments. Power & Energy is benefiting from data-center power needs and healthy oil and gas activity, while capacity additions expand the company’s ability to serve multi-year demand.
The Construction Industries segment remains supported by infrastructure, rental fleet investment and large projects. Mining demand is aided by elevated fleet age, commodity investment and technology adoption.
Higher services revenues and cash generation add resilience and support shareholder returns. While tariffs remain a headwind, improved volume, pricing and management’s higher full-year outlook support an Outperform view.

Shares of Q.E.P have outperformed the Zacks Tools - Handheld industry over the year-to-date period (+33.3% vs. +20.9%). This microcap company with a market capitalization of $157.78 million has an investment case underpinned by strong liquidity, minimal leverage, healthy cash generation and resilient core-channel demand, providing flexibility to fund operations, invest selectively and return capital to shareholders. Stable gross profitability and reliable fulfillment further support the durability of the business despite subdued home-improvement spending.
However, tariff and inflation pressures, rising operating costs and weak end-market demand could constrain earnings recovery. High customer concentration and direct-sourcing competition also create meaningful structural risks, while covenant compliance and asbestos litigation remain additional uncertainties.
The current valuation suggests investors are pricing in operational resilience and earnings stability, leaving limited room for upside without a meaningful improvement in growth.

Honda (HMC) Q1 2027 Earnings Call Transcript

Honda HMC reported quarterly earnings of $2.18 per share for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 90.2%. The bottom line also rose from the year-ago quarter’s earnings of 97 cents per share. Quarterly revenues totaled $38.04 billion, which rose from the year-ago period’s figure of $37 billion.

Segmental Highlights
For the three-month period, which ended on June 30, 2026, revenues from the Automobile segment increased 9.5% year over year to ¥3.88 trillion ($24.3 billion). The segment registered an operating profit of ¥192 billion ($1.2 billion) against an operating loss of ¥29.6 billion in the corresponding quarter of fiscal 2026.
Revenues from the Motorcycle segment came in at around ¥1.14 trillion ($7.15 billion), which increased 19.9% year over year. The unit’s operating profit came in at ¥233.9 billion ($2.1 billion), up 23.8% year over year.
Revenues from the Financial Services segment totaled ¥1.03 trillion ($6.44 billion), up 23.3% year over year. The unit’s operating profit totaled ¥105.8 billion ($658.8 million), up 24.5% year over year.
Revenues from Power Product and Other Businesses came in at ¥94.5 billion ($592.7 million), up 1.8% year over year. The segment reported an operating loss of ¥1.12 billion (7.03 million) compared with the operating loss of ¥219 million incurred in the same period last year.

Consolidated cash and cash equivalents were ¥5.3 trillion ($32.94 billion) as of June 30, 2026. Long-term debt was around ¥8.7 trillion ($54.1 billion) as of June 30, 2026.
Honda projects fiscal 2027 consolidated sales volumes from the Motorcycle, Automobile and Power Products segments to be 15.19 million units, 2.82 million units and 3.65 million units, respectively. The forecast implies growth of 3.5% year over year in the Motorcycles unit, while it implies a year-over-year rise of 4% and 1.7% for the Automobile and Power Product unit sales, respectively.
For fiscal 2027, Honda forecasts revenues of ¥24.15 trillion, implying a rise of 10.8% year over year. Operating profit is envisioned at ¥650 billion, indicating an improvement from the operating loss of ¥414.3 billion incurred in fiscal 2026. Pretax profit is forecasted to be ¥660 billion, suggesting an improvement from a pretax loss of ¥403 billion incurred in fiscal 2026. The company will pay an interim and year-end dividend of ¥35 per share each in fiscal 2027.

General Motors Company GM reported second-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of $3.57 per share, up 41.3% year over year. The figure beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $3.13 by 14.06%. Revenues increased 1.9% to $48.03 billion and surpassed the consensus estimate of $46.56 billion by 3.15%. Strong pricing, lower costs and disciplined incentives supported results. General Motors raised its full-year adjusted EBIT guidance to $14-$16 billion from $13.5-$15.5 billion. Adjusted earnings are now projected at $12-$14 per share, up from the prior range of $11.50-$13.50.
Tesla, Inc. TSLA reported second-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of 33 cents per share, which declined 17.5% year over year. The figure missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 50 cents by 34%. Revenues advanced 25.5% to $28.24 billion and surpassed the consensus estimate of $25.81 billion by 9.41%. Tesla expects 2026 capital expenditures to exceed $25 billion and rise further over the next two to three years.
Genuine Parts Company GPC reported second-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of $2.15 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.10 by 2.38%. The bottom line increased 2.4% from $2.10 in the year-ago quarter. Revenues rose 6% year over year to $6.54 billion and surpassed the consensus estimate of $6.39 billion by 2.36%. Genuine Parts reaffirmed its 2026 adjusted earnings guidance of $7.50-$8 per share and total sales growth outlook of 3-5.5%. Genuine Parts ended June with $2.3 billion of liquidity, including $559 million in cash.

Honda's Q1 Earnings Beat Estimates, Revenues Increase Y/Y

Artificial intelligence data centers are being built faster than the utility power can expand its power-production capacity.
Many data center owners/operators are solving this power shortage problem by producing their own power.
Fuel cells like those offered by Bloom Energy don’t impose the downsides of most onsite power-generation options in use today.
It's certainly no secret that artificial intelligence data centers are popping up everywhere, with plenty more left to build. In fact, real estate management firm JLL predicts that AI data centers will collectively need 200 gigawatts of electricity by 2030, up from just over 100 gigawatts today.
And it's fitting that this growth outlook is measured in power rather than footprint, since that's the bigger bottleneck now and for the foreseeable future. Utility companies just aren't ready to deliver the electricity that the artificial intelligence infrastructure industry increasingly needs.

Fortunately, there's a smart solution that's moving away from the fringes and into the mainstream. That's hydrogen fuel cell technology, like that offered by Bloom Energy (NYSE: BE).
What's a fuel cell?
Simply put, fuel cells turn hydrogen into electricity by passing it through an electrolyte membrane that separates negatively charged electrons and positively charged protons. No moving parts are needed, and the only output is heat and water. Although initially used for smaller equipment, larger-scale systems can now be used to power buildings, and yes, artificial intelligence data centers.
Bloom Energy's fuel cells are different, or more to the point, superior in most regards. Its solid oxide fuel cell technology works with hydrogen, but can also be powered by readily available natural gas, or even biogas.
And almost needless to say, power-hungry data centers are embracing the option. Last quarter's top line of just over $1.0 billion was up 165% from Q2 2025, driven by customers like Honda, AT&T, and Walmart.
It's still only scratched the surface of its opportunity, though, now that the AI data center industry recognizes this once-unlikely source of electricity is up to the task. Indeed, earlier this year, the company expanded its initial agreement to provide artificial intelligence powerhouse Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) with 1.2 gigawatts of power to a 2.8 gigawatt deal. For perspective, that's enough electricity to power between 2 million and nearly 3 million homes, or several data centers, depending on their computing capacity.
Right place, right time, right business
Great. Of all the options beyond ordinary institutional utility service, why Bloom Energy's solid oxide fuel cells? For a handful of reasons.
Chief among these reasons is that it's available, and soon. Whereas it can take months if not years to connect a new data center to the grid, Bloom can install its hardware in a matter of weeks.
It's also more marketable. In an environment where communities are understandably concerned that data centers are straining water and power supplies, fuel cells sidestep both problems. They don't require any water or outside electricity. They're also quiet, unlike the natural gas turbines or diesel generators powering some AI data centers these days.
Whatever the reason(s), Bloom Energy promises to feature prominently in the future of artificial intelligence data centers, and even beyond data centers. A long-term projection from Precedence Research predicts the worldwide hydrogen fuel cell market is poised to grow at an average annual pace of more than 20% through 2034, when it will be worth more than $27 billion per year.
That's still only part of Bloom's opportunity, though. The company also sells electrolyzers that create usable hydrogen, and even offers managed electricity production services.

What is Happening With Quantumscape Stock?

Ford's lucrative F-150 often finds itself at the top of U.S. industry sales.
The F-Series line has been estimated to drive 90% of Ford's net profit.
Due to supplier issues, critical F-150 supplies have dwindled, but Ford is working to recoup lost production through the end of 2026.
For Detroit automakers such as Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F), big trucks mean big business. Ford's lucrative F-Series truck lineup is estimated to bring in about one-third of the company's total revenue, and it's long been estimated by Wall Street firms such as Morgan Stanley that it generates as much as 90% of Ford's net profit. During the first six months of 2026, Ford's F-150 now trails a Japanese rival for best-selling vehicle, and that's a big deal for investors.
Wording is key
Let's first clear up some confusing wording. Ford's F-Series has been America's best-selling vehicle for over four decades, but the sales figure comprises the entire line of not only F-150s but also heavy-duty F-250s and larger trucks. Ford's F-150 is one component and has individually been the U.S. industry's top seller for 15 of the past 16 years.

However, thanks to not only one, but two supplier fires dating back to last fall, the aluminum supply and ensuing supply of Ford's important trucks have dwindled during what is historically a strong selling season. Ford wasn't the only major automaker hitting speed bumps; Toyota also had issues, opening the door for Honda's popular CR-V to overtake the Ford F-150, General Motors' Silverado 1500, and Toyota's RAV4.
Honda's CR-V turned up the heat to finish the first half of the year with a 19% U.S. sales surge in May, followed by an even more lucrative 30% jump in June, for a total first-half tally of 226,114 units. While numbers are still trickling in, GlobalData estimates Ford's F-150 has fallen just short of that, with estimates just under 210,000 units, while GM's Silverado 1500 checked in just under 195,000 units. Toyota's RAV4 lost more ground, with reported sales checking in at 153,955.
Through Honda's increased incentives (for now), high lease customer retention rate, and strong demand for hybrids -- the hybrid CR-V accounted for 55% of its total sales during the first half of 2026 -- the CR-V is thriving and has only about 15 days' worth of inventory with its CR-V production lines running at full capacity.
Ford can offset some losses
Late last year, the Novelis supplier plant fire, and its delayed restarting of production due to a second fire, forced management to reduce last year's earnings guidance as it wasn't able to immediately offset production losses. Initially, Ford said the production hiccup would cost it about $1.5 billion to $2 billion in earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT), although it is aiming to add additional shifts to offset about $1 billion of that throughout this year.
While Novelis does supply other major automakers such as Toyota and Stellantis, Ford's impact was more severe due to its F-150 using a primarily aluminum body. Ultimately, Ford's F-150 is losing a sales race it has rarely lost over the past 15 years, but more importantly for investors is how much production it can recoup during the second half of the year. It's certainly a major ongoing development to keep track of.

That may lead investors to question why QuantumScape stock plunged 27.4% in the first half of 2026, according to data provided by S&P Global Market Intelligence. Here's a look at where the business and the stock stand at the midyear point.

Major milestones
QuantumScape hit some important milestones last year. They included:
An expanded development effort and licensing deal with Volkswagen Group's battery maker, PowerCo.
Partnerships with glass maker Corning and Murata Manufacturing to achieve high-volume production of QuantumScape's ceramic separators for commercial use.
Integrating its advanced separator process into initial battery cell production.
Demonstrating a real-world example with a Ducati motorcycle debut running on its solid-state battery.
Signing joint development agreements with two large global automakers.
Establishing a technology assessment agreement with a major new global automotive manufacturer.
Investors reacted by sending QuantumScape shares soaring in 2025. The stock doubled on all the positive news. The company has continued to make progress toward commercialization in 2026, with an agreement with Honda Motor's research and development arm to enhance the battery platform through joint contributions and expertise from both organizations.
That news could be key for investors, as Honda could expand the use case for solid-state batteries beyond automobiles and motorcycles to include power equipment such as generators and power tools.
Solid-state advantages
QuantumScape's batteries are expected to provide greater energy density, faster charging times, and improved safety on a large scale compared to conventional lithium-ion cells. With the company's separator process and an accelerated, continuous manufacturing method that mass-produces the solid-state separators in place, the focus can now be on QuantumScape's potential market opportunities.
As mentioned, those opportunities could go beyond electric cars. Beyond power equipment, QuantumScape is targeting in-rack energy storage for artificial intelligence (AI) factories. EVs are currently QuantumScape's focus, though. And QuantumScape now has agreements and relationships with multiple global automotive companies. But QuantumScape isn't the only company looking to capitalize on those opportunities.
That is another risk factor investors need to consider. An investment in QuantumScape carries somewhat less risk now than a year ago, thanks to its technology milestones. The stock's nearly 30% drop also reduces the risk level.
But there is already some success built into its $4.3 billion market cap. While less risky than at the start of 2026, investors should still allocate only an amount that would be comfortable for a speculative part of their portfolio.
