Okta is the guard dog of cybersecurity
In the past, cybersecurity focused on protecting a physical office or a closed private network, but as permanent hybrid work and cloud-based operations become the norm, the network perimeter has evaporated.
In this new environment, identity is the constant. Whether an employee is logging in from a coffee shop or an automated bot is accessing a server, verifying who is requesting access is the most critical security layer. Okta's position as a cloud-native, independent provider of workforce identity (employees) and customer identity (users) makes it a utility platform for the modern internet.
Unlike tech competitors such as Microsoft and its EntraID, a cloud-based identity and access management (IAM) service, Okta does not care which ecosystem a company uses. If a company uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) from Amazon for cloud, Gmail from Alphabet for email, and Slack from Salesforce for communication, Okta integrates seamlessly across all of them.
As companies increasingly adopt best-of-class software stacks rather than sticking to a single vendor, Okta serves as a connector that ties disparate systems together. Over 20 years, as new tech giants emerge and old ones fade, Okta's ability to remain the universal translator for login credentials provides it with a durable moat.
It has an outstanding growth profile
In 2025, Okta showed strong results, reporting yearly revenue of $2.92 billion, an increase of 12%, with subscription revenue climbing 12% to $2.86 billion. Earnings per share (EPS) were $1.31, up 208%. In 2026, the company anticipates revenue of $3.17 billion to $3.19 billion, up 9% at the midpoint, and non-GAAP EPS of $3.74 to $3.82, up 8% at the midpoint.
By consolidating its various services into a single platform, the San Francisco company increases its stickiness. Once a company has integrated its entire employee lifecycle and customer login portal into Okta, the switching costs become incredibly high, creating a reliable stream of recurring revenue that can compound over decades.
ASML has a huge moat
ASML, based in the Netherlands, is the only company in the world that manufactures EUV (extreme ultraviolet) lithography machines. These machines, used to print the microscopic patterns onto silicon wafers that become the world's most advanced semiconductor chips, are roughly the size of a bus, cost more than $200 million (or upwards of $350 million for the new "High-NA" models), and have been called the most sophisticated machines ever built.
The barrier to entry for a competitor is huge. It took ASML nearly three decades of research and development and billions in investment to perfect EUV. For a rival to catch up now would require decades of trial and error and a supply chain of thousands of specialized partners that simply doesn't exist elsewhere.
High-yield exposure to every megatrend
While specific tech companies (such as those in AI, cloud computing, or EV manufacturing) may rise and fall over 20 years, they all share one common requirement: more powerful, more efficient chips. ASML acts as a toll booth for the entire semiconductor industry.
Whether the next two decades are dominated by artificial general intelligence, the Internet of Things (IOT), autonomous transportation, or quantum computing, none of it can happen without the lithography steps that ASML controls. By holding ASML, you aren't trying to guess which software or hardware company wins.
Impressive margins, steady growth
In the first quarter of fiscal 2026, ASML reported revenue of €8.8 billion ($10.3 billion), up 13.3%, and EPS of €7.15 ($8.4 billion), up 19.2%. It also provided 2026 guidance for annual revenue between €36 billion ($42.2 billion) and €40 billion ($46.9 billion), up 30% at the midpoint, and for annual gross margin between 51% and 53%.
The most promising metric for long-term investors is its reported €46.5 billion ($54.5 billion) in customer commitments for systems and services over the next five years. Roughly 83% of the 2026 revenue target is already covered by existing orders, providing significant protection against a sudden economic downturn.
Enbridge can easily adapt to a lower-carbon future
Midstream operator Enbridge is seen as an oil and gas pipeline company, but its current strategy focuses on becoming a diversified energy delivery utility that can survive the transition to a lower-carbon economy.
The company is seeing significant growth in demand for its natural gas services as data centers require a steady stream of power and Enbridge, after purchasing three gas utilities from Dominion Energy in 2023 for $14 billion, is now the largest natural gas utility provider in North America. The company is also ramping up its renewable power offerings, with solar and wind power projects in Europe and the U.S.
The company's miles of pipelines are a type of moat
The Canadian energy company, through its 18,085 miles of pipelines, transports approximately 30% of all crude oil produced in North America and nearly 20% of the natural gas consumed in the U.S. These are mission-critical assets that are nearly impossible to replicate today due to regulatory and environmental hurdles, giving existing pipelines immense scarcity value over the next two decades.
Those pipelines are essentially toll booths that pay off regardless of oil or natural gas prices. In 2025, the company reported EPS of CAD $3.23 ($2.36), up 38%, and adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, deprecation, and amortization (EBITDA) of CAD $19.9 billion ($14.6 billion), up 7%.
Different reasons to stay the course
Okta and ASML are both expected to ride the growth of artificial intelligence and data center needs over the next 20 years, making them revenue growth machines. Enbridge's yearly revenue has only grown 78% over the past 10 years, lower that Okta's or ASML's, but it makes up for that with a dividend that it has increased for 31 consecutive years, including a 3% bump this year, delivering a yield at its current share price of around 5.15%, another great reason to hold onto the stock for 20 years.

For most of the past year, oil prices hovered between $50 and $70 per barrel, and prices at the pump were generally stable and affordable. But that all changed in late February when the current war between the United States, Israel, and Iran broke out.
Oil was at $60 per barrel at the end of February, but the Strait of Hormuz closure and the chaos of the conflict pushed it to $109 per barrel in early April. Prices have since come down but remain elevated at around the $85-$95 range.

Peace negotiations are ongoing, but despite an extended ceasefire, the throttling of Persian Gulf shipping is likely to keep oil prices elevated for a while. Especially considering that Iran lost track of some of the sea mines it placed in the strait when it was initially closed.
It's an unfortunate reality of our global energy market. But it could be very fortunate for you if you give these two high-yield energy dividend stocks a look.
1. Energy Products Partners: Its distribution yields 5.75%
Up first is Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE: EPD), which doesn't technically pay a dividend. It's a master limited partnership and pays a distribution instead. It works very similarly to a dividend, though. And right now, Enterprise Products Partners' distribution yields 5.75%.
Enterprise owns and runs a vast network of oil and gas pipelines, refineries, and storage facilities across the United States, with a presence in most of America's major oil fields. As a midstream company, it doesn't extract oil or gas from the ground. It just moves it to where it can be refined and shipped for use. You can think of Enterprise and companies like it as the providers of the energy equivalent of the interstate highway system. And Enterprise saw record volumes in its processing plants and pipelines last year.
Enterprise has a net profit margin of 11.17% and has remained consistently around that figure for several years. It also has a stable debt-to-equity ratio of 1.14. As for its distribution, that's the main way Enterprise returns value to shareholders. It has raised its annual dividend for 29 years in a row, and with a relatively high, but healthy, forward payout ratio of 69.24%, it should be able to continue its growth streak for the foreseeable future.
At a nearly 6% yield, it's worth your consideration to collect some fat profits while you sit back and wait for energy markets to return to normal.
2. Enbridge: Bridging the gap with a 5.25% yield
Canada's Enbridge (NYSE: ENB) is a midstream company like Enterprise Products Partners -- it simply operates on a larger scale. Its pipelines and refineries tie together the enormous energy markets of Canada and the United States. Unlike Enterprise, however, Enbridge has also entered the renewable energy space, owning several solar plants and battery storage facilities across the United States, wind farms in the U.S., Canada, and Western Europe, and even a geothermal plant in Oregon.
Also, unlike Enterprise, Enbridge is a normal dividend-paying company, so you don't need to worry about any potential differences between company dividends and partnership distributions.
The company finished 2025 at the top end of management's guidance and has reaffirmed its 2026 guidance, which is set to see it continue its 8% EBITDA compound annual growth rate (CAGR) since 2023 and its 3% distributable cash flow (DCF) per share CAGR of 3% over the same time frame.
Enbridge has a comparable net profit margin to Enterprise at 11.95% and a higher debt-to-equity ratio of 1.61. However, Enterprise saw a 6.4% revenue decline in 2025, while Enbridge managed 21.92% revenue increase.
These companies are very similar, and that continues in their dividends. Enbridge has grown its dividend for 30 years in a row, and it yields 5.25% at current prices. However, Enbridge's payout ratio is a much less healthy 117% at the moment. Its payout ratio has been much higher in the past (it was at 268% in 2022). On a GAAP basis, the figure is admittedly high, but Enbridge targets paying out 60%–70% of its distributable cash flow (a non-GAAP figure) to shareholders, specifically to attract income-focused investors. The non-GAAP measure suggests the payout is safe, and Enbridge has a 31-year streak of dividend increases.
Both of these stocks offer a solid way to profit as we wait and see what energy markets do as the situation in the Persian Gulf continues.

2 Energy Dividend Stocks Paying You to Wait While Oil Prices Stay Elevated

Futures contracts for Brent oil (the international oil benchmark) for delivery in June rose more than 3% on Monday, topping $109 a barrel at one point. The rise in crude oil signaled the market's growing unease with the current standoff between the U.S. and Iran. Iran continues to prevent ships from passing through the Strait of Hormuz, while the U.S. Navy is blockading Iranian-linked ships.
As a result, oil flows through that crucial waterway are basically at a standstill. The world is bridging the gap by tapping into emergency oil stockpiles, which are draining quickly. Here are the energy stocks that could win if oil inventories keep falling.

Draining the barrel
Before the war, the 32-member nations of the International Energy Agency (IEA) held over 1.2 billion barrels of oil in emergency stockpiles, including more than 400 million barrels in the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). Additionally, another 600 million of industry stockpiles were under government obligation, while energy companies also held significant commercial oil inventories. Meanwhile, many non-IEA members held emergency oil reserves, with China holding the world's biggest stockpile at 1.4 billion barrels.
The world has been tapping these reserves since Iran effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz at the beginning of the war by attacking ships and laying sea mines. That led IEA members to agree to release a record 400 million barrels from their emergency inventories in early March, including 172 million barrels from the SPR. Overall, global inventories are draining at a record pace of 11 million to 12 million barrels per day, according to Goldman Sachs. This pace can't continue indefinitely. In Goldman Sachs' view, if oil flows out of the Strait don't normalize before the end of July, Brent will likely remain over $100 through the end of the year.
Winners from the oil inventory drawdown
The inventory drawdown will benefit energy midstream companies and oil producers. Pipeline companies play a crucial role in helping the U.S. get oil supplies from the SPR to refineries and global markets. The country's four storage sites along the Gulf Coast connect to three distribution systems and three marine terminals. Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE: EPD) and Enbridge (NYSE: ENB) co-own the Seaway Pipeline and related Seaway terminals that connect the SPR to refineries and global export markets. Volumes on that pipeline will increase as the U.S. releases oil from the SPR, while export volumes at the two linked Gulf Coast terminals will also rise as the U.S. supplies the world with more energy during the closure. That will enable Enterprise and Enbridge to generate more fee-based income from those higher volumes. Additionally, both companies operate separate oil pipelines and storage terminals, which should see higher throughput volumes this year.
Energy Transfer (NYSE: ET) is another likely winner of the oil inventory draws. The energy midstream giant owns the Nederland Terminal, which connects to the SPR. It also operates a terminal in Houston, which should benefit from higher export volumes. Additionally, Energy Transfer owns over 17,950 miles of crude oil pipelines and oil terminals with 73 million barrels of storage, which should see higher utilization this year and generate more fees for the midstream company.
Meanwhile, oil producers will benefit from higher prices. For example, major U.S. oil and gas producer EOG Resources (NYSE: EOG) initially expected to generate about $4.5 billion in free cash flow this year, assuming WTI, the primary U.S. oil benchmark, was in the low $60s. It planned to return up to 100% of that money to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases. The oil company estimates that for every $1-per-barrel increase in oil prices, its annual cash flows will rise by $223 million. With WTI currently in the mid-$90s, EOG Resources is on track to generate nearly $6.7 billion in additional pre-tax cash flow this year. It will likely return all that money to shareholders through repurchases and special dividends. Most other U.S. oil producers will also generate more cash this year, with many returning the bulk of their windfall to shareholders through dividends and repurchases.
Oil companies should be big winners this year
The Strait of Hormuz closure is creating one of the biggest oil supply shocks in decades. Countries are covering the shortfall by tapping into their emergency stockpiles at record levels. That inventory drawdown will benefit midstream companies, which should report higher volumes and fee-based income. Meanwhile, higher oil prices will benefit oil producers, enabling them to generate more cash to return to shareholders. This market environment suggests that oil pipeline companies and producers should be winning investments this year.

Chevron
Chevron (NYSE: CVX) built its business to thrive in any environment. The oil company can thrive at lower prices. It can fund its capital spending plan and dividend at an average oil price below $50 a barrel through 2030. Meanwhile, it can grow its free cash flow at a more than 10% compound annual rate through 2030 at $70 oil. Chevron has a vast global oil and gas resource base and data-driven exploration capabilities to support its growth in the coming decades.
The energy giant is also using some of its oil-fueled cash flows to invest in lower-carbon energy to prepare its business for the future. It's investing in renewable fuels (biodiesel and renewable natural gas), hydrogen, lithium, and carbon capture and storage. Additionally, Chevron is investing in natural gas power plants to support AI's energy needs.
Chevron will continue supplying the global economy with the oil it desperately needs in the coming decades. It will also play an important role in providing it with more lower-carbon energy in the future. That should give it ample fuel to continue increasing its dividend (3.8% current yield), which it has done for 39 straight years.
Enbridge
Enbridge (NYSE: ENB) is a leading North American energy infrastructure company. It operates the longest and most complex crude oil pipeline system on the continent, transporting 30% of the crude oil produced in North America. Enbridge is also a leader in natural gas, transporting 20% of U.S. gas consumption and operating the largest gas utility franchise in North America. Additionally, Enbridge is a leader in renewable energy investment.
The Canadian pipeline and utility company generates very stable cash flow, as 98% of its earnings come from cost-of-service or contracted assets. Enbridge currently has 39 billion Canadian dollars ($28.5 billion) in expansion projects under construction, which should enter service through the early 2030s. It's pursuing another CA$50 billion ($36.6 billion) in expansion opportunities through 2030. These expansion projects should provide Enbridge with the fuel to grow earnings at a mid-single-digit annual rate, supporting continued dividend increases (current yield of 5.3%). Enbridge has raised its dividend for 31 straight years.
ExxonMobil
ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM) is a global energy giant. Its strategic focus in recent years has been on improving profitability. Exxon's strategy has been to invest heavily in its advantaged resources (the lowest-cost and highest-margin assets) while also reducing structural costs.
The company strategy has it on track to grow its earnings capacity by $25 billion and cash flow by $35 billion by 2030. That's double-digit annualized growth compared to 2024's level. Exxon's strategy would see it generate about $145 billion in cumulative surplus cash by 2030, giving it the funds to repurchase shares and continue increasing its dividend (a 2.8% yield), which it has done for 43 straight years.
Meanwhile, Exxon has plenty of growth beyond 2030. It has extensive oil and gas resources worldwide to support rising energy demand. Additionally, Exxon is investing in several new businesses, including lithium, hydrogen, and specialty products such as its Proxxima thermoset resin systems. These businesses have the potential to reach $13 billion in earnings by 2040 and offer Exxon significant growth potential in the coming decades.
Excellent oil stocks to hold for the long haul

1. Enbridge
Enbridge (NYSE: ENB) is a Calgary, Alberta-based company that owns a massive pipeline network. Its pipelines transport roughly 30% of the crude oil produced in North America and one-fifth of the natural gas consumed in the U.S. In recent years, Enbridge has also invested heavily in renewable energy.
However, Enbridge isn't just an energy stock; it's also a utility stock. The company's acquisitions have catapulted it into the top spot among North American natural gas utilities by volume. Enbridge's natural gas business now serves 7.1 million customers.
The midstream/utility leader recently increased its dividend by 3%. This marked Enbridge's 31st consecutive year of dividend hikes. The company's forward dividend yield of 5.4% is sure to catch the eye of many income investors.
Enbridge's business model is stable and relatively low risk. The company's management team is also trustworthy, achieving financial guidance for an impressive 20 consecutive years. As a bonus, Enbridge has visible growth through the end of the decade, with around $50 billion of opportunities identified over the next four years.
2. Enterprise Products Partners
Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE: EPD) is another midstream leader that income investors should like. This master limited partnership (MLP) owns over 50,000 miles of pipeline, more than 300 million barrels of liquids storage, 45 natural gas processing trains, 27 fractionators, and 21 deepwater docks.
Around 55% of Enterprise Products Partners' gross operating margin stems from natural gas liquids (NGLs). The rest of the company's margin is split roughly equally between its crude oil, natural gas, and petrochemical operations.
Enterprise Products Partners ranks among the most dependable passive-income machines in the energy sector, having increased its distribution for 27 consecutive years. It also offers one of the most lucrative distributions, with a yield currently topping 5.8%.
This pipeline stock is as stable as they come. Enterprise Products Partners is the only midstream energy infrastructure company with an A- credit rating (indicating low risk). Around 90% of Enterprise's long-term contracts are inflation-resistant due to escalation provisions. The MLP also has solid growth prospects, driven in part by surging demand for natural gas-fired power plants to supply electricity to data centers.
3. Chevron
Investors seeking passive income don't have to limit themselves to the midstream part of the energy sector. Chevron (NYSE: CVX) is an integrated energy major that ranks as the world's third-largest energy company by market cap.
Chevron's upstream operations have the highest margins in the industry. The company is the global leader in natural gas production. It boasts the largest retail market share. Chevron's U.S. refining net cash margin also leads the industry.
Few energy companies come with a more impressive dividend track record than Chevron. The oil and gas giant has increased its dividend for 39 consecutive years. Its forward dividend yield of 3.8% is well below Chevron's average yield over the last 10 years, though, because its stock has performed so well.
Chevron is built to last, with its roots dating back to 1879. The company is also poised for solid growth. Management expects Chevron's earnings per share to increase by an average of at least 10% per year.

From a big picture perspective, the energy sector is a tough one for dividend investors, unless they dig in and learn about the midstream segment of the industry. Here's why even conservative dividend investors may find Enterprise Product Partners (NYSE: EPD), Enbridge (NYSE: ENB), and Energy Transfer Partners (NYSE: ET) attractive high-yield energy opportunities in April.
What do midstream businesses do?
Upstream companies produce oil and natural gas. Downstream companies (chemical makers and refiners) take those commodities and process them into other products. Both of these segments of the broader energy sector are commodity-driven and volatile. Midstream companies are different.

Midstream companies own energy infrastructure, such as pipelines, that help to move oil and natural gas around the world. These businesses generally charge fees for the use of their assets. This means that the volume flowing through their systems is more important than the price of the commodities they are moving. Given the importance of oil and natural gas to the world economy, volumes tend to be resilient regardless of commodity prices and economic conditions.
That said, midstream businesses generally grow very slowly. And the dividends you collect will likely make up the lion's share of your return over time. But if you are a long-term dividend investor trying to maximize your income, that probably won't be a big concern. Normally, midstream businesses only run into problems if they overleverage themselves (more on this below).
Two reliable pipeline stocks and one that could be worth the risk
If you are a conservative income investor, the first pipeline owner you should look at is Enterprise. It has an attractive 5.7% yield, and the distribution has been increased annually for 27 consecutive years. That's basically as long as this master limited partnership (MLP) has been publicly traded. Add in an investment-grade rated balance sheet and distributable cash flows that cover the distribution 1.7x over, and there's very little risk that Enterprise won't continue to pay you for years to come. In fact, it seems far more likely that the distribution will continue to increase regularly.
Enbridge's 5.4% yield is attractive, too, but there are some additional nuances to consider. This Canadian energy giant's business foundation is oil and natural gas pipelines. However, it also owns regulated natural gas utilities and renewable power assets. It is financially strong and has increased its dividend annually for 31 years, so it can stand toe-to-toe with Enterprise in many ways. But it isn't a pure-play pipeline company. Highly conservative investors might like the added diversification, while others might decide that Enterprise's midstream focus and higher yield win the day.
Energy Transfer and its lofty 6.9% yield are only appropriate for more aggressive investors. This midstream MLP leaned too hard on its balance sheet. It cut its distribution in half in 2020 to reduce leverage. Having done that, the distribution is growing again, but the annual streak is only a few years long.
That said, management now appears to be taking a slow-and-steady approach to growth. The goal is for distribution growth of 3% to 5% a year, which is entirely reasonable and looks like it could be supported by internal growth opportunities. This marks a big change from Energy Transfer's past, where growth was heavily driven by debt-funded acquisitions. Given that this business shift is still fairly recent, the MLP remains most appropriate for aggressive investors.
Big yields backed by reliable businesses
At the end of the day, charging fees for moving oil and natural gas makes for a pretty boring business. However, that's exactly why Enterprise, Enbridge, and Energy Transfer can support such high yields. And why they sidestep the commodity risk that makes other energy stocks so risky. If you are looking for a pipeline stock as April winds down, one of these three high-yielders should fit the bill.

You don't have to buy oil producers to generate energy-related income
If you want to avoid risk, the best place to look for income in the energy sector is the midstream. Businesses here own energy infrastructure, such as pipelines, storage assets, and transportation facilities. They tend to charge fees for the use of the assets they own, meaning the volume passing through their systems is more important than the price of what is being moved. Since oil and natural gas are vital to the functioning of the world, demand for these commodities tends to remain robust regardless of prices.
Two of the most reliable income investments in the midstream niche are Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE: EPD) and Enbridge (NYSE: ENB). Enterprise, a master limited partnership, has increased its distribution for 27 consecutive years. Enbridge has increased its dividend, in Canadian dollars, for 31 years. Neither company is particularly exciting, but both have industry-leading positions in North America. That's a secondary bonus, as they operate far away from the Middle East tensions.
Enterprise has a distribution yield of 5.7%, and Enbridge's dividend yield is 5.4%. Neither is a particularly fast-growing business, but dividend investors looking to maximize income will likely appreciate these boring but reliable high-yield midstream options in the typically volatile energy sector.
Go big if you want oil exposure
Some investors actually want greater direct exposure to oil and natural gas, given their importance to the global economy. Dividend investors should focus on integrated energy giants like ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM) and Chevron (NYSE: CVX). One important reason for favoring these two energy giants is their industry-leading financial strength. Exxon's debt-to-equity ratio is a super-low 0.19x, while Chevron's is just a touch higher 0.25x.
Rock-solid balance sheets give Exxon and Chevron the leeway to take on debt during energy downturns, enabling them to continue supporting their businesses and dividends until commodity prices recover. They have both increased their dividends annually for decades despite the inherent volatility of the energy sector.
An additional positive is the integrated business model. They each have exposure to the full energy value chain. And they also have globally diversified portfolios. Different segments of the industry perform differently through the cycle, and different regions of the world can perform differently, too. Being diversified likely limits the upside for Exxon and Chevron, but it also softens the blow when oil and gas prices are falling. If you are a long-term dividend investor, that's a good reason to buy into Exxon's 2.7% yield or Chevron's 3.8%.
To be fair, you'd get a better price and higher yield if you waited for an energy downturn. But if you feel you want to buy an energy stock, Exxon and Chevron are pretty much always solid options for dividend lovers.
Tread with caution with energy stocks
Oil and natural gas are important to the world, and most investors should have some exposure to energy. However, dividend investors need to be extra cautious given the inherent volatility of the commodity-driven sector. Stick with high-yield stocks like Enterprise, Enbridge, Exxon, and Chevron, which have all proven they can pay you well through the good times and the inevitable bad ones, too.

American's emergency oil stockpile
The U.S. is helping offset the impact of the Strait of Hormuz closure by adding supply to the market. The Department of Energy (DOE) is releasing 172 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) as part of the IEA's record release.
The SPR is the world's largest emergency oil stockpile, with a capacity of 714 million barrels. The SPR relies on energy companies to transport crude oil from its four storage sites along the U.S. Gulf Coast. The SPR feeds into three oil pipeline distribution systems (Seaway, Taxoma, and Capline) that connect this oil to refineries along the Gulf Coast (and elsewhere) as well as three marine terminals (Seaway, Nederland, and St. James).
The energy companies supporting the SPR release
Enterprise Products Partners (NYSE: EPD) and Enbridge (NYSE: ENB) co-own the Seaway Pipeline Company, which operates the Seaway Pipeline and marine facilities. Their system plays a crucial role in helping the DOE transport oil from the SPR to U.S. refineries and global markets via their export docks. Additionally, both companies own other vital oil infrastructure. Enterprise operates several oil pipelines, storage terminals (including at the critical Cushing, OK, hub), and export facilities. Meanwhile, Enbridge operates North America's longest and most complex crude oil transportation system, moving 30% of the crude oil produced on the continent. It also operates the Enbridge Ingleside Energy Center, the largest crude oil export terminal by volume.
Plains All American Pipelines (NASDAQ: PAA) is a leader in U.S. oil infrastructure. It operates 20,000 miles of crude oil pipelines, including an interest in the Capline Pipeline, which supports SPR releases. Additionally, Plains All American has 75 million barrels of commercial crude storage capacity and owns five marine terminals in the U.S. Its infrastructure is crucial to supporting the flow of oil from wells to market centers.
Energy Transfer (NYSE: ET) owns the Nederland terminal, which connects directly with the SPR. That facility, as well as its Houston terminal, played a vital role in the 2022 SPR release following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Additionally, Energy Transfer operates extensive oil infrastructure across the U.S., including 17,950 miles of oil pipelines and a crude oil terminal with 73 million barrels of capacity.
Filling the gap
Enbridge, Enterprise Products Partners, Plains All American Pipeline, and Energy Transfer operate crucial crude oil infrastructure. Their systems are assisting the DOE in getting oil from the SPR to U.S. refineries and global markets to help offset the supply issues in the Persian Gulf. As a result, these companies should see higher volumes this year, boosting their cash flow. That will provide additional support for their high-yielding and steadily rising dividends.

Persian Gulf Oil Output Is Down 57%. These Are the Energy Stocks Built for This Moment.

At first glance, Enbridge (NYSE: ENB), Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG), and International Business Machines (NYSE: IBM) have very little in common. That's the point. Diversification is important when you build a dividend portfolio. But so is owning good companies. Here's why I have no plans to sell these stocks for the next 20, or more, years.
Enbridge's business is changing
Enbridge is one of North America's largest midstream companies. It owns the energy infrastructure that helps to move oil and natural gas around the world. While it is an energy company, it allows me to avoid commodity risk because it charges fees for the use of its assets. The dividend yield is 5.4%, and the dividend has been increased annually for 31 consecutive years, in Canadian dollars.

That's the big picture, but there's one more crucial fact. Enbridge's goal isn't to be the best midstream company. It is to provide the world with the energy it needs. This is why the company's midstream business is complemented by natural gas utility assets and a small portfolio of clean energy assets. Essentially, it is shifting its portfolio to keep pace with the changes taking shape in the world. That makes me comfortable that I can own it for decades to come.
Procter & Gamble's innovation keeps it sharp
Procter & Gamble is a Dividend King, with over five decades of annual dividend increases behind it. That's proof that the company has staying power in the highly competitive consumer staples sector. I'm fond of consumer staples stocks because they make products people buy, regardless of what is happening in the stock market or the economy. Neither you nor I are going to stop buying toilet paper or toothpaste because there's a recession.
P&G is particularly interesting in the consumer staples sector because it is positioned at the high end of the markets it serves. Not only does it have strong distribution and marketing skills, but it also leans heavily on innovation to lead the industry, driving growth with new and improved products. Essentially, P&G isn't a follower; it is a leader, which makes it extra important to its retailer customers. Retailers know that working with P&G means they have brands on their shelves that will draw customers into their stores. The dividend yield is nearly 3% right now, which is actually fairly attractive for P&G historically.
International Business Machines changes, again
IBM is an over 100-year-old technology company. It has increased its dividend annually for decades, and it has a 2.6% dividend yield. It provides business customers with products and services that help them make better use of cloud computing and artificial intelligence. It is also working on quantum computing. However, given the company's age, this is not what IBM has always done. In fact, when it started business, it made "high-tech" things like scales.
If you haven't noticed yet, change is a key theme here. IBM has remained an industry-leading technology company by adjusting its business to the world around it. The most recent change was just a few years ago, when it exited some older consulting businesses to focus on cloud computing. That shift was highlighted by the $34 billion purchase of Red Hat. I bought IBM during the difficult transition period (and well before the Red Hat acquisition) because I believed the company would again be able to adapt to the market. And I'm confident it will do so again when it's needed.
Long-term dividend stocks have to be different
If you are like me and you want to buy and hold dividend stocks for the long term, you have to consider more than just dividend yield. The business that backs the yield is as important, if not more important, than the income you will generate from the investment. I like Enbridge, P&G, and IBM because they all have what it takes to adapt over time. That is what makes their dividends so resilient and makes me a happy long-term shareholder.

While Meta is spending for future returns, energy companies can benefit in both the present and years to come thanks to power-hungry data centers.
Data centers spark a revenue catalyst
AI workloads are putting constant strain on traditional grids, and that is only expected to become a larger issue over the next few years.
By 2027, Goldman Sachs' research team projects energy demand from data centers will increase by 50%, accelerating further, with energy demand forecast to jump as much as 165% by 2030, compared to 2023.
Natural gas companies have an opportunity to meet that demand by offering consistent, reliable power.
According to the International Energy Agency, natural gas accounts for 26% of data center electricity demand. Coal and natural gas together are projected to meet 40% of the additional electricity demand from data centers until 2030.
That demand can provide a significant revenue catalyst for several companies now and in the future.
Investments to consider
One benefactor of AI's energy demands was mentioned earlier: Entergy. It has 28 facilities powered by various energy sources, including natural gas.
Another is Energy Transfer LP (NYSE: ET), which is supplying natural gas to three of Oracle's U.S. data centers. There's also Enbridge (NYSE: ENB), which sees data centers creating new demand for it in the years ahead, as multiple planned projects are already being built in the vicinity of its infrastructure and operations.
Finally, while not a natural gas exploration, transportation, or refining company, GE Vernova (NYSE: GEV) supports the infrastructure of natural gas plants through its turbines. As one example, GE Vernova announced that Crusoe ordered 29 gas turbine units to meet its data center needs.
For each of these opportunities, investors should still dive deeper into each company to understand its business model and specific risks. Still, as long as this demand persists to power data centers, energy companies can continue winning in 2026 and beyond.
