It's worthy of attention when an investment firm decides to initiate a position in a stock. Hamilton Point Investment Advisors' new stake in Salesforce suggests a bullish outlook towards the company.
With Salesforce shares down this year, Hamilton Point may have thought the stock holds good upside potential. After all, Salesforce's forward price-to-earnings ratio is at a reasonable 19 compared to over 30 at the start of 2025.
In addition, Salesforce bumped up its 2026 fiscal year guidance in September, projecting revenue of approximately $41 billion, representing 8.5% to 9% year-over-year growth. The company originally forecasted a 7% to 8% increase.
The elevated guidance could have also contributed to Hamilton Point's buy, since it demonstrates Salesforce is doing better than it previously expected. The company's fiscal Q2, ended July 31, was excellent with sales rising 10% year over year to $10.2 billion.
Headwinds for Salesforce include increased competition from the likes of Microsoft, but the company still retains the leading market share in the CRM space. Its ongoing revenue growth and reasonable share price valuation suggest now is a good time to pick up the stock.

Is Salesforce Stock a Buy After Investment Company Hamilton Point Initiated a Position Worth $7.9 Million?

Investors in Salesforce Inc (Symbol: CRM) saw new options become available today, for the December 5th expiration. The put contract at the $255.00 strike price has a current bid of $11.90. If an investor was to sell-to-open that put contract, they are committing to purchase the stock at $255.00, but will also collect the premium, putting the cost basis of the shares at $243.10 (before broker commissions). To an investor already interested in purchasing shares of CRM, that could represent an attractive alternative to paying $256.55/share today.
Because the $255.00 strike represents an approximate 1% discount to the current trading price of the stock (in other words it is out-of-the-money by that percentage), there is also the possibility that the put contract would expire worthless. The current analytical data (including greeks and implied greeks) suggest the current odds of that happening are 56%. Apple launched Apple Intelligence in partnership with OpenAI last year, which is a suite of AI-powered apps and features for its iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers. Apple Intelligence can summarize text messages and emails, create images on command, and prioritize notifications based on the preferences of each user. Apple has over 2.35 billion active devices worldwide, so it could become the most dominant consumer AI company in the world.
Microsoft and Oracle are two of the biggest buyers of data center chips and components which they use to develop their own AI software, but they also make money by renting the computing capacity to businesses. In fact, both companies are experiencing more demand for data center capacity than they can possibly supply, as businesses across all industries race to adopt AI.
