What does Brookfield Asset Management do?
As an asset manager, Brookfield takes money from other people and businesses and invests it for them. For providing this service, Brookfield charges a fee. The fee is normally a percentage of the assets that the company has under management. This is all normal for the asset management space.
In Brookfield's case, however, it has both its own capital and the capital of other people to invest. So assets under management (AUM) isn't the right figure to watch. The key metric for Brookfield Asset Management is fee-bearing capital. To put these two figures into perspective, the company has a little over $1 trillion in assets under management, but only around $550 billion in fee-bearing capital.
Brookfield Asset Management's history is tied directly to infrastructure. It has an over 100-year track record of successfully buying, managing, and selling infrastructure assets on a global scale. Today, however, its business is increasingly diversified across so-called "alternative assets."
The company has operations in infrastructure, clean energy, and real estate, which are all fairly typical infrastructure assets. But it also has sizable operations in private equity and credit investing. That's five different platforms for growth. The company believes that it is positioned to benefit broadly from major global trends, including decarbonization, digitalization, and deglobalization.
Each of Brookfield Asset Management's different businesses benefits in different ways. For example, clean energy is a direct beneficiary of decarbonization, but so, too, is its infrastructure group. Real estate and infrastructure, meanwhile, will benefit from companies reshoring manufacturing and shifting their businesses more online. Private equity and credit can tap into all of those trends, by providing capital to companies as they adjust their businesses to keep up with the fast changing world.
Growth is the name of the game for Brookfield Asset Management
As noted, Brookfield Asset Management currently has around $550 billion in fee-bearing capital. By the end of the decade, it expects that figure to reach roughly $1.1 trillion. The plan is to roughly double just about every business in which it operates. The big takeaway here, however, is that doubling its fee-bearing capital will mean roughly doubling the company's fee income.
This is a growth story, but it is also a dividend story, too. Currently, Brookfield's dividend yield is an attractive 3.2%. That's more than double the yield of the S&P 500 and far above the 1.4% average for the finance industry. So it offers a lofty yield and potentially rapid business growth.
But that business growth is expected to have a positive impact on the dividend, too. Management is projecting 15% annualized dividend growth through 2030. This is a huge figure that will interest dividend growth investors. So Brookfield Asset Management is a growth investment, a yield investment, and a dividend growth investment.
Brookfield Asset Management is an attractive stock
To be fair, a lot rides on Brookfield Asset Management's ability to grow its fee-bearing capital. So execution will be very important if the company is going to live up to the lofty goals management has set. So, perhaps, conservative income investors might be better off elsewhere.
But more aggressive investors, including those with a dividend focus, would do well to do a deep dive here. You'll probably find you like this Canadian asset manager enough to add it to your portfolio right now.

Bloom Energy is the new AI darling
Bloom Energy shares started to rise when it first announced a collaboration with tech giant Oracle in late July. That's when many investors realized Bloom could already have a practical and sensible answer to the growing power needs from artificial intelligence (AI) data center compute power.
While many speculative nuclear power plays have caught Wall Street's attention in recent months, Bloom's fuel cell technology is already available for on-site power supply. That realization has sent Bloom Energy stock rocketing 380% higher since mid-July.
The latest partnership announced this week will place Bloom as the preferred power supplier for an AI factory buildout planned by global alternative asset manager Brookfield Asset Management. The $5 billion agreement places Bloom at the heart of the AI boom.
More agreements may be set to come, too. Investors should be wary, though, of just how fast Bloom's valuation grows. It now has a $28 billion market cap, and these AI factories will take months, if not years, to build. Bloom stock will likely take a breather at some point soon.

Brookfield + Bloom: Better together
In the "first phase" (meaning there will probably be more phases) of this "joint vision to build AI factories capable of meeting the growing compute and power demands of artificial intelligence," Brookfield will invest up to $5 billion to deploy Bloom fuel cells to power AI data centers in the United States and Europe, and later, "globally."
Bloom CEO KR Sridhar says "AI factories demand massive power, rapid deployment and real-time load responsiveness that legacy grids cannot support" -- and for which off-grid fuel cell boxes from Bloom could be ideal.
Is Bloom Energy stock a buy?
In contrast to perhaps higher-profile fuel cell stocks such as Plug Power and FuelCell Energy, Bloom is a fuel cell operator that's already earning profits (albeit only $24 million over the last 12 months), and positive free cash flow as well ($44 million).
At $24 billion in market cap, the stock may not look like much of a bargain; Bloom's P/E ratio is literally more than 1,000! Brookfield seems to think Bloom stock is enough of a sure thing, however, that it's willing to buy more than 20% of the company. Most analysts polled by S&P Global Market Intelligence agree Bloom will be solidly profitable next year, growing earnings past $5 per share by 2030.
That's still 21x projected earnings five years out, however. And Bloom is still a sell for me.

Why Bloom Energy Stock Powered Higher Today

(RTTNews) - Bloom Energy Corp. (BE) and Brookfield Asset Management, Inc. (BAM, BAM.TO) announced Monday a $5 billion strategic partnership to implement a reimagined future for AI infrastructure. Together, the two companies are redefining how AI factories are built and powered.
This partnership marks the first phase of a joint vision to build AI factories capable of meeting the growing compute and power demands of artificial intelligence.
AI factories require infrastructure that tightly integrates compute, power, data center architecture, and capital. Bloom Energy's fuel cells deliver reliable, scalable and clean onsite power that can be rapidly deployed without legacy grids.
Under the partnership, Brookfield will invest up to $5 billion to deploy Bloom's advanced fuel cell technology. The two companies are actively collaborating on the design and delivery of AI factories globally, including a site in Europe that will be announced before the end of the year.
Over the next decade, foundational models and generative AI are expected to drive ongoing demand for power. According to experts, power demand from AI data centers in the United States is expected to grow exponentially and surpass 100 gigawatts by 2035.
Fuel cells have become a key solution for this issue and the partnership between Bloom Energy and Brookfield is designed to address this supply gap.
Bloom Energy has already deployed hundreds of megawatts of its fuel cell technology to data centers, powering some of the world's most critical digital infrastructure through partnerships with American Electric Power (AEP), Equinix, and Oracle.
This partnership will form Brookfield's first investment in its dedicated AI Infrastructure strategy focused on investing in large AI factories, power solutions, compute infrastructure, and strategic capital partnerships. The strategy builds on Brookfield's track record of over $100 billion invested in digital infrastructure globally.

Brookfield Inks $5 Bln Strategic AI Infrastructure Partnership With Bloom Energy

Citigroup Inc. C and Dandelion, a subsidiary of Euronet Worldwide, Inc., collaborate to enhance cross-border payments by integrating Citigroup’s WorldLink Payment Services with Dandelion’s extensive digital wallet network.
In recent years, many companies have been taking steps to improve their payment platforms. In April 2025, Barclays PLC BCS partnered with Brookfield Asset Management Ltd. BAM to transform its payment acceptance business and drive long-term growth. The partnership combines BCS’s extensive UK client relationships and payments expertise with BAM’s global private equity experience in payments, technology and operational transformation, aiming to create a standalone entity and enhance service offerings for merchants and corporate clients.
Details of the Citigroup–Dandelion Collaboration
This partnership will enable C’s clients to deliver near-instant, full-value payments into digital wallets across multiple markets. The capability will initially be extended to the Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Colombia, with further expansion planned.
The collaboration empowers Citigroup’s institutional clients to make faster, cost-effective business-to-consumer (B2C) payments across borders. By paying directly into wallets, the company can address applications such as remittances, payroll, expense reimbursements, customer refunds, compensation payouts and transfers to freelance or gig-economy workers.
Emanuela Saccarola, Citigroup’s head of Cross-Border Payments, Services, stated, “Our collaboration with Dandelion underscores Citi's commitment to delivering innovative and comprehensive payment solutions that meet the evolving needs of our global clients.” Saccarola further stated, “By integrating Dandelion's robust digital wallet network with Citi's global payment infrastructure, we are enabling clients to reach new markets with faster, more transparent and cost-efficient solutions. This reinforces Citi’s leadership in 24/7 real-time global payments.”
Strategic Implications of C's Collaboration
The partnership expands Citigroup’s WorldLink capabilities, allowing clients to make cross-border payments in more than 135 currencies through traditional wires, automated clearing house and cross-border instant payments.
With this partnership, the company extends its reach to over 150 digital destinations, including mobile wallets and debit cards, positioning itself strongly in the evolving global payments landscape.
With Dandelion’s network covering 63 countries, Citigroup clients could gain access to broader digital economies where digital wallets are the primary channel for financial transactions. The integration with wallet providers and card networks will also help to broaden its global payment footprint.

IFS vs. BAM: Which Stock Should Value Investors Buy Now?

(RTTNews) - Duke Energy (DUK) has entered into a definitive agreement for Brookfield, through its Super-Core Infrastructure strategy, to hold a 19.7% indirect equity interest in Duke Energy Florida for an aggregate amount of $6 billion. The company said $2 billion of the proceeds from the transaction will fund Duke Energy's increased $87 billion, five-year capital plan and $4 billion will be used to displace holding company debt.
Brookfield will invest in Florida Progress, which owns all of Duke Energy Florida. Brookfield will acquire its indirect equity interest in Duke Energy Florida in phases. Duke Energy will retain an 80.3% interest in the business and will continue to operate Duke Energy Florida.

Brookfield Invests In 19.7% Non-controlling Equity Interest In Duke Energy Florida

(RTTNews) - First National Financial Corp. (FN.TO) announced on Sunday that it has entered into an agreement with Regal Bidco Inc., a newly formed acquisition vehicle controlled by private equity funds managed by Birch Hill Equity Partners Management Inc. and Brookfield Asset Management. Under the terms of the agreement, Regal Bidco will acquire all outstanding common shares of the Company—excluding the Rollover Shares—for C$48.00 per share in cash. The Purchase Price implies an aggregate total equity value of approximately C$2.9 billion, inclusive of the Rollover Shares.
As part of the transaction, the Company's founders, Stephen Smith and Moray Tawse (collectively with their associates and affiliates, the "Rolling Shareholders"), who currently hold approximately 37.4% and 34.0% of the outstanding Shares, respectively, will each sell roughly two-thirds of their holdings for the same cash consideration per Share as other shareholders. The remaining Shares or the "Rollover Shares" will be exchanged for ownership interests in the Purchaser.
As a result, on closing of the transaction, Smith and Tawse are each expected to maintain an indirect approximate 19% interest in First National, with Birch Hill and Brookfield holding the remaining approximate 62% interest.
The Transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, subject to obtaining the required shareholder, court and regulatory approvals and the satisfaction of other customary closing conditions.
The Purchase Price represents a premium of approximately 15.2% and 22.8% to the 30 and 90-trading day volume weighted average trading price, respectively, of the Shares on the Toronto Stock Exchange on July 25, 2025, the last trading day prior to the announcement of the Transaction.
First National intends to continue paying its regular monthly cash dividend of C$0.208334 per Share in the ordinary course through to closing of the Transaction and regular quarterly dividends on the Preferred Shares in accordance with their terms.
