The company offers x86 microprocessors and graphics processing units (GPUs) as an accelerated processing unit, chipsets, data center, and professional GPUs; and embedded processors, and semi-custom system-on-chip (SoC) products, microprocessor and SoC development services and technology, data processing unites, field programmable gate arrays (FPGA), and adaptive SoC products. It provides processors under the AMD Ryzen, AMD Ryzen PRO, Ryzen Threadripper, Ryzen Threadripper PRO, AMD Athlon, AMD Athlon PRO, and AMD PRO A-Series brand names; graphics under the AMD Radeon graphics and AMD Embedded Radeon graphics; and professional graphics under the AMD Radeon Pro graphics brand name. In addition, the company offers data center graphics under the Radeon Instinct and Radeon PRO V-series brands, as well as servers under the AMD Instinct accelerators brand; server microprocessors under the AMD EPYC brands; low power solutions under the AMD Athlon, AMD Geode, AMD Ryzen, AMD EPYC, AMD R-Series, and G-Series brands; FPGA products under the Virtex-6, Virtex-7, Virtex UltraScale+, Kintex-7, Kintex UltraScale, Kintex UltraScale+, Artix-7, Artix UltraScale+, Spartan-6, and Spartan-7 brands; adaptive SOCs under the Zynq-7000, Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC, Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoCs, Versal HBM, Versal Premium, Versal Prime, Versal AI Core, Versal AI Edge, Vitis, and Vivado brands; and compute and network acceleration board products under the Alveo brand. It serves original equipment and design manufacturers, public cloud service providers, system integrators, independent distributors, and add-in-board manufacturers through its direct sales force, and sales representatives. Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. was incorporated in 1969 and is headquartered in Santa Clara, California.

Artificial intelligence (AI) stocks have been volatile this year, with some companies posting big gains, followed by a recent sell-off in many semiconductor stocks.
But three companies that are still outperforming the S&P 500 year to date are Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (NYSE: TSM), Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) (NASDAQ: GOOG), and Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA).

And there are some good reasons to believe that these three AI stocks could remain solid long-term winners. Here's why.
TSMC wins no matter who leads the AI race
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, widely known as TSMC, is the world's leading semiconductor manufacturer, making about 70% of all processors and nearly 90% of all advanced processors. Essentially, if a large tech company needs AI processors made, it's going to hire TSMC.
That's been a huge boon to the company's chip manufacturing business over the past few years (sales rose 32% in 2025 to $121 billion), and there could be more growth on the way as tech giants boost demand for AI processors. The company estimates that by 2030, the global chip market will be worth $1.5 trillion, with AI processors leading the demand.
One of the unique angles TSMC has in AI is that it benefits from all of the AI processor demand, regardless of who is leading the race. Whether OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta Platforms, Alphabet, or some new AI start-up buys up piles of AI processors, they'll likely be placing their orders through TSMC.
Alphabet's AI ubiquity is already hard to ignore
Alphabet is taking a leading role in AI through its fast-growing Gemini AI model. The company has grown its user base by more than double over the past year to more than 900 million users.
While Gemini may not be as popular as OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude, I don't think Alphabet has to have the dominant model to benefit from AI. Consider that Alphabet already attributed the 63% growth in Google Cloud sales (reaching $20 billion) in the first quarter to its expanding AI services.
What's more, Gemini is now implemented across many of Alphabet's services, including YouTube, advertising, Search, Google Workspace, and more. With such a massive reach among its large user base, Alphabet can play the long game with AI and slowly raise prices or introduce new tiers with more AI features to boost revenue.
And investors are already seeing Gemini directly make money for Alphabet. Apple is using Gemini as a core part of its AI model for the new version of Siri and will pay Alphabet a reported $1 billion annually to use it.
Nvidia will likely remain king of AI processors for years
After years of being at the top of many AI investors' buy lists, it may seem odd to continue beating the buy Nvidia drum. But even amid rising competition, Nvidia remains the leading AI processor company. Nvidia has about 86% of the AI data center revenue market share, leaving rival AMD with just 7%.
And Nvidia's sales and earnings continue to impress. Revenue rose 85% in the most recent quarter to nearly $82 billion, and diluted non-GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) earnings popped 140% to $1.87 per share.
Nvidia's shares are also relatively inexpensive compared to many other AI stocks. Nvidia stock has a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of about 30 right now, compared to 150 for AMD and 62 for Broadcom.
What's more, I think there could be higher demand for Nvidia's processors in the near future as robotics and autonomy industries take off. Nvidia believes there could be millions of humanoid robots in the coming decades that will need high-end processors, and RBC analyst Toom Narayan believes the robotics industry could be worth $9 trillion by 2050.
When you add it all up, Nvidia still looks like a great long-term AI play.

3 AI Stocks Poised for Long-Term Gains Despite Strong Year-to-Date Performance

Spending on artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure is booming, with related capital expenditure (capex) expected to surpass $700 billion this year. While that is a staggering amount, Goldman Sachs said it doesn't see spending slowing next year, projecting it could reach between $920 billion and $1.4 trillion.

At $1.25 trillion, that would be about 3% of gross domestic product (GDP), which would still be below some past technology booms, including the U.S. and U.K. railroad build-outs in the late 1800s.
Let's look at three AI stocks to own as infrastructure capex continues to soar.
1. Nvidia
Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) has been the biggest beneficiary of early AI infrastructure spending, and it remains well-positioned to be one of the biggest winners. The stock is also attractively valued, trading at a forward P/E of just 16 times fiscal 2028 (ending January 2028) analyst estimates.
The company has been seeing extraordinary revenue growth, including 85% last quarter, as its graphics processing units (GPUs) remain the primary chip used to train AI models. It still has a wide moat in this area, as most early foundational AI code was written on its CUDA software platform.
Nvidia is also looking to be an important player in inference and agentic AI. Its "acquisition" of Groq gave it language processing units (LPUs), which are ideal for the decode phase of inference, while it has also introduced ARM-based CPUs, which can play a pivotal role in agentic AI.
Overall, Nvidia is set to remain one of the biggest winners from this AI infrastructure spending.
2. AMD
While Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) lost to Nvidia in AI model training, AMD is much better positioned for the emerging trends of inference and agentic AI. Inference is much less technical than AI model training, and AMD's ROCm software has improved significantly over the past few years, loosening CUDA's stranglehold in this area.
The company's chiplet GPU design can also pack in more memory, which is important because inference constraints are generally memory-related rather than compute power. AMD already has two $100 billion GPU commitments related to inference, which should be a huge growth driver for the company in the coming year.
In addition to its opportunity in inference, AMD is also a leader in data center CPUs. This market is set to see explosive growth with the rise of agentic AI, which needs more CPUs to help manage the sequential reasoning required to power AI agents. As a result, the GPU-to-CPU ratio is expected to shift from 8:1 for training to 1:1 with agentic AI, with AMD predicting this could be a $120 billion market in a few years.
With the company riding two of the biggest trends in AI infrastructure, it looks like a big winner from this increasing spending.
3. Micron
The memory market is booming, especially DRAM (dynamic random access memory), as GPUs and other AI chips need to be packaged with a special type of DRAM called high-bandwidth memory (HBM) to achieve optimal performance. The shift toward inference, which tends to be more memory-bound than compute-bound, only escalates the need for more memory.
As one of the big three DRAM makers, along with Korean companies SK Hynix and Samsung, Micron (NASDAQ: MU) has been riding higher DRAM prices to record revenue, gross margins, and profits.
The entire DRAM market remains undersupplied, and with data center capex expected to continue surging, that dynamic is unlikely to change anytime soon, even as new capacity comes on.
Micron stock is inexpensive, trading at a forward P/E of 9 times fiscal 2027 (ending July 2027) estimates, and with the company starting to sign some longer-term contracts, it should help lessen some of the cyclicality in its business. That makes it a nice stock to own as AI capex continues to soar.

Goldman Sachs Predicts AI Infrastructure Spending Could Hit More Than $1 Trillion in 2027. 3 AI Stocks to Buy.

As I write this, 12 publicly listed American companies have a market capitalization of $1 trillion or more, with SpaceX being the newest member of the prestigious club. Software and cloud infrastructure giant, Oracle (NYSE: ORCL), was tantalizingly close to joining them late last year when its market cap topped $935 billion, but its stock has since hit a wall.

Oracle operates some of the fastest, and most cost-efficient data centers for artificial intelligence (AI) training and inference workloads, and it has a gigantic order backlog for computing capacity worth $638 billion. However, there is a real possibility that some of Oracle's top customers won't be able to fulfill their obligations, so investors are treading with caution.
Oracle stock is down 44% from its all-time high, and here's why the dip might not be a buying opportunity.
A leader in the AI infrastructure race
Oracle is building data centers as fast as it can to fill demand for computing capacity from its AI customers, which include OpenAI, Meta Platforms, and Elon Musk's xAI, to name a few. It fills these data centers with thousands of specialized chips called graphics processing units (GPUs), which are supplied by Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices.
Oracle has a few advantages over other cloud providers. First, it prioritizes automation in its data centers, so it can bring them online much faster than competitors who rely on human-centric infrastructure management. Second, it uses proprietary remote direct memory access (RDMA) networking technology, which shifts data between GPUs faster than traditional Ethernet networks.
These attributes result in faster processing speeds and lower costs, which is a winning combination for AI developers who often pay for computing capacity by the minute.
Oracle has also built some enormous GPU clusters, allowing developers to tap into more than 131,000 of the latest chips from Nvidia and AMD. This is a key reason why companies at the forefront of the AI revolution -- like OpenAI -- use Oracle's infrastructure.
A big chunk of Oracle's backlog is from one customer
Oracle generated $19.2 billion in total revenue during its fiscal 2026 fourth quarter (ended May 31), which was a 21% increase from the year-ago period. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) contributed $5.8 billion, which grew at a significantly faster pace of 93%, highlighting the significant demand for data center capacity.
But the headline number in this report was Oracle's $638 billion in remaining performance obligations (RPO), which soared by 363% year over year. RPO reflects the value of signed contracts for services that haven't been delivered yet, so it's similar to an order backlog. Oracle says the $638 billion figure is a good indication of future revenue, but investors should be aware of a few issues.
First, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal from last September, around $300 billion of Oracle's RPO was attributable to OpenAI alone. The start-up raised $122 billion from investors in March, but it only has around $25 billion in annualized revenue and is still posting losses. Therefore, it's unclear how the company will fulfill this enormous commitment to Oracle, especially since it has agreements of similar size with other cloud providers like Microsoft.
Second, Oracle only expects to convert 12% of its RPO into revenue over the next 12 months, followed by a further 34% in the 24 months after that. In other words, less than half of its RPO could become actual revenue over the next three years, which is a very wide window in an industry moving as quickly as AI. Since we are already witnessing cracks in the demand picture, RPO might not be the best indicator after all.
Third and finally, Oracle is carrying over $122 billion in long-term debt, and it just announced plans to raise another $40 billion through a mix of debt and equity. The company is investing heavily to build more AI data centers, which creates a risky situation for investors if that big RPO number doesn't turn into revenue.
Oracle stock looks fairly valued
Oracle generated generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) earnings of $5.83 per share during fiscal 2026, placing its stock at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 31.6. That is a slight discount to the Nasdaq-100 index, which trades at a P/E of 34.6, so Oracle might be close to fair value relative to a basket of its big-tech peers.
However, Wall Street is only forecasting 7.7% earnings growth in fiscal 2027, so there might not be a whole lot of room for upside in its stock over the next 12 months. The Street is expecting much faster growth of 45.7% in fiscal 2028, but it's tough to rely on that prediction with any confidence right now given some of the issues I highlighted earlier.
In summary, investors might want to take a wait-and-see approach to Oracle. If the company continues to deliver positive results over the next few quarters, then there might be an opportunity to take a long-term position in its stock at the right price.

What's the investment I've recommended most often for most people? A low-fee exchange-traded fund (ETF) that tracks the S&P 500 index, such as the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (NYSEMKT: VOO) or the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (NYSEMKT: SPY). I suspect many of my colleagues would say the same. Even Warren Buffett has recommended it. In his 2016 letter to shareholders, he noted, "Over the years, I've often been asked for investment advice... My regular recommendation has been a low-cost S&P 500 index fund."
So I'm sorry to point out that it's not a perfect kind of investment. It has some issues.

What's wrong with the S&P 500?
Here's a big one: It's way more concentrated than most people realize. For example, check out its recent top 10 components:

Those weightings may not seem huge until you remember that there are about 490 other companies. These 10 above represent about 2% of the index's holdings but 39% of its total value. So if you invest in the S&P 500 because it's a great way to be quickly and easily invested in 500 of America's biggest companies, you are invested in those companies, but more than a third of your investment is in these 10 companies alone.

As you can see, you won't have much invested in the vast majority of the companies.
That can be OK, though. Maybe you like those tech heavyweights in the top 10 -- which include all of the "Magnificent Seven" stocks (Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta Platforms, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla). Maybe you want to invest in the 500 companies, with most of your money going to the biggest. After all, most of them have grown very rapidly over the past few years.
Keep in mind, though, that when there's a stock market crash or correction, as there invariably is now and then, those high-flying growth stocks are often the ones that fall harder. That, too, can be OK as long as you have a very long-term investing period. But it's not ideal.
Is there a better alternative to the S&P 500?
There is an alternative to standard S&P 500 index funds that's worth considering: An equal-weighted one. Standard ones are weighted by market cap, meaning the larger a company's market cap, the greater its weighting. The Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF (NYSEMKT: RSP), in contrast, is equal-weighted. The 500 components are rebalanced quarterly, so between rebalancings you'll see fluctuations in the weightings as various stocks gain or lose value from day to day and year to year. Note that Micron Technology appears in both top 10 lists, but in the earlier one, it has a 1.67% weighting, while in the fund above, it has a much lower weighting of 0.35%. This kind of index fund has you much more invested in the other 490 stocks beyond the top 10 -- though, of course, each stock has a relatively minor weighting. But every promising stock will have an equal chance of outperforming for you.
An equal-weighted S&P 500 ETF may not grow as fast as a market-cap-weighted one, but during a market downturn, it may hold its value a bit more. Over the past 15 years, this ETF has averaged annual gains of about 12%, while the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF has averaged 14.4%. There's a trade-off, but it's not enormous. Give equal-weighted S&P 500 index funds some consideration.

How to Invest in the AI Revolution Without Making Costly Mistakes

Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) has been one of the biggest artificial intelligence (AI) success stories so far. The company provides a crucial tool -- and one of the highest quality -- used in the development of this technology. This is the graphics processing unit (GPU), a chip that powers important tasks such as the training of models.
The company's GPU strengths and its portfolio of related products and services have helped it to report record levels of earnings quarter after quarter. And this has lifted the stock too, with gains of more than 400% over three years.

Some investors have worried that, after such a performance, Nvidia may lose momentum. It's true that there are plenty of rivals in the AI chip space, from chip designers like Advanced Micro Devices to some of Nvidia's customers, like Amazon, that have created their own chips.
But my prediction is Nvidia will stay ahead of the crowd -- and the second half of this year actually will represent a game-changing moment for the AI giant. Let's take a closer look.
Nvidia's GPUs over time
So, first, a bit of background on this market leader and where it stands in today's AI environment. Nvidia's GPUs have been around for decades, and in their early days, they mainly served the gaming market. The company has since expanded their use, and this was made possible by Nvidia's creation of CUDA, a parallel computing platform.
And about a decade ago, recognizing the AI opportunity, Nvidia tailored its GPUs for this industry. This, along with the creation of other products to support the GPU in its AI tasks, helped Nvidia build an AI empire. In the latest quarter, the company reported an 85% increase in revenue to more than $81 billion. And gross margin has remained pretty consistently above 70%, showing high profitability on sales.
As mentioned, Nvidia isn't alone in the space. Rivals sell GPUs or other similar AI chips, and they, too, have delivered significant growth. Yet Nvidia has maintained its lead, due to its brand strength and the quality of its products, as well as its focus on innovation.
But some investors have wondered how long this will last, particularly as rivals too have been supercharging their innovation engines -- and Nvidia's GPUs carry the highest price tag. Meanwhile, the needs of AI are changing. For example, the early stage of the AI story was all about training models, and for this, the GPU was critical.
The era of AI agents
Today, we're moving into the era of AI agents, involving the actual application of AI to problems. In agentic AI, the AI agent acts as a human would -- considering a problem and taking steps, in many cases multiple steps, to solve it. And to power this process, another type of chip is most needed: the central processing unit (CPU). These are the general chips found in all computers.
Nvidia hasn't been a big player in the CPU market. Intel and AMD have been longtime leaders in this market, but if Nvidia meets its goals, this might change.
And this leads me to my prediction. The second half of the year could be a key moment for Nvidia because it plans to take two game-changing steps: It aims to release its Vera Rubin platform for data centers, and this includes the company's first-ever stand-alone CPU. And, for the PC market, it aims to release a new superchip, the Nvidia RTX Spark. This chip, including an Nvidia GPU and an Nvidia CPU, will launch in Windows laptops this fall from Microsoft, Dell, and others.
So, as of the second half, Nvidia will advance in the CPU market in a big way -- aiming for share in data center CPUs and in the PC market. Nvidia says the stand-alone CPU market is worth about $200 billion, and the company says it's on track for leadership.
The big news here is that Nvidia is maintaining its GPU dominance and eventually may hold a similar position in the broader CPU market. This could greatly increase the company's revenue growth potential over time -- and that's why I predict that the launches of these two CPU products will represent a game-changing moment in the Nvidia story.

The agentic AI era approaches
Analysts at Bank of America expect the global server central processing unit (CPU) market to grow almost fivefold to over $170 billion by 2030, driven by a forthcoming boom in agentic AI applications.
While AI model training largely relies on graphics processing units (GPUs) designed by the likes of Nvidia, CPUs perform well during certain segments of AI agent workflows, such as control logic, plan execution, coordination, and scheduling.
Intel and AMD dominate the server CPU market, making them well-positioned to profit from this global megatrend. Yet Arm also stands to benefit. The chip architecture developer recently unveiled its new AGI CPU, which is specifically designed to power next-gen AI infrastructure.
More ways for investors to profit
Bank of America's analysts are also optimistic about Intel's foundry business. In addition to designing and building its own chips, Intel has opened its chip manufacturing services to other tech giants. Intel is reportedly in discussions with Apple to potentially make some of the chips in its popular devices.
Meanwhile, analysts at Citigroup believe AMD could wrestle away some market share from Nvidia in the GPU arena, driven in part by its chip supply deals with social media and AI powerhouse Meta Platforms.

Why Intel, AMD, Arm, and Other Artificial Intelligence (AI) Stocks Popped Today

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) on Friday rose +0.50%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) rose +0.70%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) rose +0.64%. June E-mini S&P futures (ESM26) rose +0.65%, and June E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQM26) rose +0.87%.
Stocks on Friday extended Thursday’s rally on hopes that the US and Iran will sign an interim peace agreement within the next several days, ending the military hostilities, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and ending the US blockade on Iran and its oil exports. Negotiations would then begin on the more intractable issues, such as sanctions against Iran, the release of $24 billion of frozen Iranian assets, and the resolution of Iranian nuclear issues. However, Iran said its leaders still need to make a final decision on the proposed interim peace deal.

Stocks started to rally on Thursday after President Trump canceled planned military strikes against Iran, citing "discussions" with the Iranian leadership. He added that the “time and place of the signing" of a negotiated end to the war would "be announced shortly."
WTI crude oil prices (CLN26) fell -3.23% on Friday on the hopes for a near-term US-Iran agreement and a reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
In positive news for stocks, the University of Michigan’s June US Consumer Sentiment Index rose +4.1 to 48.9, which was stronger than expectations for a rise to 46.0. Also, the University of Michigan’s June 1-year inflation expectations rate eased to +4.6% from +4.8% in May, and was weaker than expectations of +4.9%. The June 5-10 year inflation expectations rate eased to +3.4% from +3.9% in May, weaker than expectations of +3.8%.
The markets are discounting a 4% chance of a +25 bp rate hike at the next FOMC meeting on June 16-17.
Overseas stock markets closed higher. The Euro Stoxx 50 rose +2.16%. China's Shanghai Composite closed up +1.12%. Japan’s Nikkei-225 Stock Average closed up +2.81%.
Interest Rates
September 10-year T-notes (ZNU6) fell -5 ticks, and the 10-year T-note yield rose +2.2 bp to 4.483%. T-notes saw weakness as the 10-year inflation expectations rate rose +1.8 bp to 2.323%, despite the drop in oil prices. The T-note market remains worried about inflation pressures, which are likely to remain sticky even after the Strait of Hormuz reopens. The T-note market had some carry-over weakness from Thursday, when demand was lackluster for the Treasury’s 30-year bond auction.
European government bond yields traded lower. The 10-year German bund yield fell -3.6 bp to 2.995%. The 10-year UK gilt yield fell -6.9 bp to 4.836%.
On Thursday, the ECB, as expected, raised the deposit facility rate by +25 bp to 2.25% from 2.00% and said, "The outlook remains uncertain, with upside risks for inflation and downside risks for economic growth." Swaps are discounting a 37% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on July 23.
US Stock Movers
Space Exploration Technologies Corp (SPCX), doing business as SpaceX, started trading Friday morning and closed the day at $161 per share, up +19% from Thursday’s IPO of $135. The IPO was more than four times oversubscribed, indicating strong demand for the stock. SpaceX's favorable showing on Friday was positive for investor sentiment and could help the upcoming IPOs of AI companies Anthropic and OpenAI.
Space-linked stocks traded lower despite the favorable SpaceX debut, with EchoStar (SATS) and Rocket Lab (RKLB) both closing down about -10%.
Chip stocks recovered from early losses and closed mostly higher. The iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) rose +1.59% on Friday, adding to Thursday’s sharp rally of +8.39%. The chip rally was sparked by signs that AI spending is continuing after Oracle on Thursday reported quarterly capital expenditures that were higher than expected, driven by increased data center spending. Chip leaders on Friday included a rally of +6.51% in Intel (INTC) and +5.55% in KLA-Tencor Corp (KLAC). AMD (AMD)and Qualcomm (QCOM) both closed up more than +4%.
Adobe (ADBE) fell more than -6% after CFO Dan Durn said he would leave the company on June 15, following news earlier this year that Adobe’s CEO would resign. The Adobe news put continued downward pressure on software stocks, which were undercut on Thursday by negative earnings news from Oracle (ORCL). Autodesk (ADSK) fell more than -3%, and Palantir Technologies (PLTR) fell more than -2%.
Airline stocks saw continued support after oil prices on Friday extended Thursday’s losses. Southwest Airlines (LUV), United Airlines (UAL), and American Airlines (AAL) all rallied by more than +2%.
Astera Labs (ALAB), CoreWeave (CRWV), Nebius Group (NBIS), Rocket Lab (RKLB), and Teradyn (TER) saw support on Friday after Nasdaq announced on Thursday that those stocks will join the Nasdaq 100 Index, effective at the market open on June 22. Stocks leaving the Nasdaq 100 include Charter Communications (CHTR), Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTSH), Insmed (INSM), Verisk Analytics (VRSK), and Zscaler (ZS).
Travelers (TRV) rose +0.18% despite news that Barclays cut its rating on the stock to underweight from equal-weight, citing a downbeat outlook for profits in the property and casualty sector.

Space Exploration Technologies Corp (SPCX), doing business as SpaceX, is expected to begin trading this morning after raising a record $75 billion in its IPO on Thursday. The stock is expected to open substantially above its IPO price of $135. The IPO was more than four times oversubscribed, indicating strong demand for the stock. A strong showing by SpaceX today would be positive for investor sentiment and could help the upcoming IPOs for AI companies Anthropic and OpenAI.
Space-linked stocks are trading lower despite the SpaceX debut, with EchoStar (SATS) down more than -6%, and Rocket Lab (RKLB) down more than -5%.
Chip stocks are trading mostly lower today after Thursday’s sharp rally, with the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) trading slightly lower after Thursday’s rally of +8.39%. Thursday’s rally was sparked by signs that AI spending is continuing after Oracle reported quarterly capital expenditures that were higher than expected, driven by increased data center spending. Chip leaders today include AMD (AMD) and Intel (INTC), with gains of more than +3%.
Adobe (ADBE) is down more than -8% after CFO Dan Durn said he would leave the company on June 15, following news earlier this year that Adobe’s CEO would resign. The Adobe news put continued downward pressure on software stocks, which were undercut on Thursday by negative earnings news from Oracle (ORCL). ServiceNow (NOW), Atlassian (TEAM), and Workday (WDAY) are all trading down by more than -3%.
Airline stocks are seeing continued support after oil prices today moved lower, adding to Thursday’s decline. United Airlines (UAL) and Southwest Airlines (LUV) are trading up more than +0.5%.
Energy stocks and service providers are mixed despite today’s continued slump in oil prices. Baker Hughes is down more than -1%, but Occidental Petroleum (OXY) and Marathon Petroleum (MPC) are up more than +1%.
Astera Labs (ALAB), CoreWeave (CRWV), Nebius Group (NBIS), Rocket Lab (RKLB), and Teradyn (TER) are seeing support today after Nasdaq announced on Thursday that those stocks will join the Nasdaq 100 Index, effective at the market open on June 22. Stocks leaving the Nasdaq 100 include Charter Communications (CHTR), Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTSH), Insmed (INSM), Verisk Analytics (VRSK), and Zscaler (ZS).
Travelers (TRV) is down more than -1% after Barclays cut its rating on the stock to underweight from equal-weight due to a downbeat outlook for profits in the property and casualty sector.
