Which stock would I buy in 2026?
I'd go with Airbnb. Booking Holdings is a formidable business that operates across more than 200 countries, continues to beat earnings estimates, and is returning enormous amounts of cash to shareholders. For investors who want steady, profitable exposure to global travel, it checks a lot of boxes.
But the stock has had a rough year, weighed down by geopolitical headwinds and a more cautious revenue outlook than investors expected. Although these aren't permanent problems, they're creating a cloud over the near-term story.
Airbnb, by contrast, is firing on all cylinders. Revenue growth is accelerating while bookings are climbing. Management just raised its full-year outlook after a strong quarter. And I like that the company is expanding into experiences, hotels, and AI-driven features that could really broaden what the platform offers travelers. Partnering with Delta is another creative move that brings in new users through a loyalty channel Booking doesn't have.
Airbnb has a younger, more focused platform with a sharper growth trajectory right now. For a long-term investor, that's the more exciting travel bet.

Airbnb vs. Booking: Which Consumer Stock Is a Better Buy in 2026?

SpaceX stock is down 42% from its post-IPO high, partly because some insiders will be allowed to sell shares two days after the company reports second-quarter financial results on August 4. But a rich valuation, debt issuance, and launch delays have also factored into the decline.

Nevertheless, Wall Street is overwhelmingly bullish. Among 37 analysts, SpaceX has a median target of $225 per share, implying 96% upside from its current share price of $115. My prediction is a little more conservative: I think SpaceX will trade at $167 per share by June 2027.
Here's why.
SpaceX is chasing a $26.5 trillion opportunity in AI products and services
SpaceX is a vertically integrated business that designs hardware and software across three operating segments: space, connectivity, and artificial intelligence. The company has a key competitive advantage in reusable rockets, which dramatically reduce launch costs. That economic moat has helped SpaceX build Starlink, the largest satellite internet service in the world.
SpaceX also runs two Colossus data centers, which collectively form the largest AI training cluster on the planet. Using its low-cost launch capabilities, massive satellite network, and AI expertise, the company plans to provide AI cloud services from orbital (space-based) data centers. Solar power and cold temperatures could solve the energy and cooling problems that limit terrestrial data centers.
"We believe we are the only company with a commercially viable path to building orbital AI compute at scale," SpaceX explains its SEC Form S-1. The company values its addressable market at $28.5 billion, and the vast majority of that sum ($26.5 trillion) is attributed to AI products and services.
Wall Street says SpaceX's revenue will grow at 102% annually through 2028
In the first quarter, SpaceX reported a net loss of $4.2 billion, but the company has plenty of cash on its balance sheet after raising $75 billion from its initial public offering (IPO) and AI revenue is likely to grow quickly in the quarters ahead. Anthropic and Alphabet have agreed to rent cloud capacity from SpaceX for monthly fees of $1.25 billion and $920 million, respectively.
SpaceX brought in revenue of $19.3 billion in the past year, and the company currently has a market value of $1.5 trillion as of July 25. Those figures give SpaceX a price-to-sales ratio of 78. That would be a very rich valuation in almost any circumstance, but it's tolerable here because Wall Street estimates sales will increase at 102% annually through 2028. In other words, SpaceX currently trades at about 11 times projected sales for 2028.
History says SpaceX's stock price will increase 45% by June 2027
SpaceX had a market capitalization of $1.7 trillion at its IPO price of $135 per share. That made it the largest IPO in history by a wide margin. There is no perfect comparison, but we can look at how other large IPOs have performed to make an educated guess about where SpaceX is headed.

Among the 10 largest U.S. IPOs in history, the average stock returned 24% during its first year on the public market. If SpaceX follows that trajectory, the stock will trade at $167 per share in June 2027. That implies 45% upside from the current share price of $115.
I think $167 per share is a sensible forecast. It implies a market value of $2.1 trillion, which means the stock would trade at 30 times projected sales for 2027. That is not cheap, but it is much cheaper than the current valuation.
More importantly, even if I am wrong about SpaceX reaching $167 per share by June 2027, I think patient investors who buy the stock today will outperform the S&P 500 over the next five years. I would start with a small position and add shares if the stock continues to move lower.

Airbnb's brand has also become a key contributor to its success. The company name is so widely recognized that it's used interchangeably as a verb. This is a clear indicator of the mindshare Airbnb has among travelers and hosts.
This shows up in the data. According to the S-1 filing, direct and unpaid channels represented a whopping 91% of traffic that came to the site in the first nine months of 2020. I suspect this trend is still true today. This is tremendous brand awareness that can support lower marketing expenses.
Innovation is a strategic priority
Last summer, Airbnb refreshed its platform to include experiences and services. The leadership team's goal is clear, which is to make this a comprehensive travel tool.
The innovation pipeline is still robust. In May, the business introduced new services like car rentals and airport pickups. And it launched new experiences, such as behind-the-scenes access to chefs and expert-led landmark tours.
As a tech-forward company, it's no surprise that Airbnb is leaning into artificial intelligence capabilities. This technology is already being used to improve customer support and to highlight reviews based on what travelers care about most.
At the end of the day, Airbnb's success is a direct result of its intense focus on improving the experience for both hosts and guests.
Value is what you get
Investors might be surprised to learn that this stock has been basically flat over the past five years. However, the next half-decade could be much better.

SpaceX soared 50% during the first three trading days, hitting a high of $202 per share amid strong demand from retail and institutional investors. But the stock has since fallen 26% to $150 per share because of anxiety about the company's recent bond offering and the upcoming lockup expiration dates.

Here's what investors need to know.
History says SpaceX stock could fall much further in the coming months
Since 1980, the average IPO stock has gained about 19% on the first trading day, according to Jay Ritter, professor emeritus of finance and director of the IPO initiative at the University of Florida. SpaceX fit that pattern perfectly. Shares closed at $161 on June 12, representing 19% upside from the IPO price of $135.
However, excitement surrounding IPOs tends to fade quickly, and companies that go public at large market values have historically performed poorly during the first year. The following chart lists the 15 largest U.S. IPO stocks (by market value at the IPO price) excluding SpaceX; for each stock, it shows (1) the one-year return and (2) the maximum drawdown in the first year relative to the IPO price.

Among the 15 largest U.S. IPOs, the average stock traded 2% below its IPO price after a year, but it dropped 23% from its IPO price at some point during the first year. Past results are never a guarantee of future returns, but we can use those numbers to make an educated guess about what SpaceX stock might do in the future.
If SpaceX's performance matches the historical average, the stock will trade near $132 per share (2% below its IPO price) by June 2027. That implies 11% downside from the current share price of $149. In that scenario, $20,000 invested in SpaceX today would be worth about $17,800 by June 2027.
But history also says SpaceX will drop 23% from its IPO price at some point in the first year. That would bring the stock to $104 per share, which implies 30% downside from the current price. In that scenario, $20,000 invested in SpaceX today would be worth about $14,000 at some point in the next year.
SpaceX shares available for public trading will increase sharply once lockups start expiring
SpaceX issued 555 million shares for its initial public offering, bringing the total number of shares outstanding to 13.1 billion. That means less than 5% of SpaceX stock is currently available for public trading, while the other 95% (held by employees and insiders) is subject to various lock-up periods.
Those lock-up periods start expiring in a few weeks. In late July or early August, following the company's second-quarter financial report, at least 20% of early release shares (about 911 million shares) will become eligible for public trading. That means the float will more than double to reach 1.5 billion shares.
However, lockup expirations don't stop there. Another 7% of early release shares (about 320 million shares) will become eligible for public trading at 70 days, 90 days, 105 days, 120 days, and 135 days post-IPO. That means the float will double again, reaching at least 3 billion shares by late October.
Here's the big picture: Stock prices are determined by supply and demand. The number of SpaceX shares available for public trading will increase greatly in the coming months, and the stock price could drop, perhaps sharply, as the market digests that supply increase.
So investors need not rush to buy SpaceX stock today. More attractive opportunities are likely to arise in the future. That is particularly true because the stock currently trades at 101 times sales, making it the most expensive stock in the Nasdaq-100 by a wide margin. Rocket Lab ranks second at 73 times sales.

The case for MGM Resorts International
MGM Resorts International operates 16 domestic casino properties and maintains a majority interest in MGM China. It has a multiyear partnership with Major League Baseball and operates the BetMGM sports betting venture. Following the April 2026 divestiture of MGM Northfield Park, the company continues focusing on its core Las Vegas and Macau markets.
During FY 2025, revenue was nearly $17.5 billion, an increase of roughly 1.7% over the previous year. The company reported net income of approximately $206.2 million for the period. This net income figure was lower than the $746.6 million reported in the prior fiscal year.
According to the December 2025 balance sheet, the debt-to-equity ratio is approximately 23.1x, which measures total debt relative to shareholders’ equity. The current ratio is roughly 1.2x, indicating its ability to meet short-term obligations. Free cash flow reached close to $1.7 billion during the fiscal year.
Risk profile comparison
Airbnb faces legal challenges from cities such as Los Angeles and Chicago over rental regulations and pricing. These disputes illustrate the risks posed by regulatory fragmentation and potential operational restrictions in major markets. The platform must also comply with the EU Short-Term Rental Regulation starting in May 2026, while facing competition from Marriott International (NASDAQ:MAR).
MGM Resorts International manages substantial indebtedness and fixed financial commitments, including lease payments to VICI Properties (NYSE:VICI). These obligations limit operational flexibility and liquidity during economic downturns. Which stock would I buy in 2026?
The travel industry has been picking up in recent years, post-pandemic. Both Airbnb and MGM are benefiting from that recovery, but which is the better investment in 2026?
Airbnb has a lot going for it. For one thing, its asset-light business model enables it to generate revenue without the capital investment required by traditional hotels. And since it doesn’t own the rental properties, it also avoids many of the costs and risks associated with owning and maintaining real estate. Currently, it partners with over 5 million hosts and has 8 million active listings. But it has been dealing with regulatory issues from cities cracking down on short-term rentals. It trades at a premium, reflecting investors’ optimism regarding its future earnings potential.
MGM operates a variety of property types, including Las Vegas casinos and regional hotels. It also has a stake in BetMGM, an online gaming and tournament poker platform. Las Vegas tourism has been softening recently, and unlike Airbnb, MGM must continue supporting expensive physical properties even during periods of weaker demand.
Between these two companies, I would choose to buy stock in Airbnb. Its asset-light model reduces its risk in times of economic uncertainty and means it can scale up when times are good. That strategy gives it an edge in today’s economy compared to MGM and many other travel stocks, and I think it could pay off for investors despite its high valuation.

QQEW, AXON, VRTX, ABNB: ETF Outflow Alert

Earlier this week, Verizon was removed from the iconic Dow Jones Industrial Average, and Google parent Alphabet was added to the 30-stock index.
Time is running out for Nike, with its low share price and poor operating performance likely to get it kicked out of the Dow.
A trillion-dollar company or a revolutionary travel industry titan would make a logical replacement for Nike.
Change is in the air -- and it has nothing to do with the weather. Earlier this week, S&P Dow Jones Indices oversaw the removal of telecom titan Verizon Communications from the iconic Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES: ^DJI) and the addition of Google parent Alphabet. It marked the 54th time since the Dow's inception in May 1896 that a company was added or removed.
But S&P Dow Jones Indices isn't finished. Over the next 12 months, brand-name retailer Nike (NYSE: NKE) should be given the boot, with one of two consumer-facing goliaths -- Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) or Airbnb (NASDAQ: ABNB) -- serving as logical replacements.

The clock is ticking for Nike
Arguably, the biggest issue for Nike's tenure as a Dow component is its share price. Unlike the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite, which are market-cap-weighted indexes, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is a share-price-weighted index. The higher a company's share price, the more influence it holds within the Dow.
Based on after-hours trading following the release of Nike's fiscal fourth-quarter operating results on June 30, its shares have dipped below $40. Only three Dow components have share prices below $113, and Nike is, by far, the lowest of the bunch. It has minimal influence within the Dow.
Nike's operating performance isn't doing it any favors, either. Persistent sales weakness in China, spurred by intensifying competition, has weighed on sales, while Nike's initial pivot to direct-to-consumer sales has strained its relationship with wholesalers.
Although Nike has the brand appeal to right the ship, we're likely looking at a multi-year turnaround. This simply won't cut it for a company whose shares have risen by just 21% in nearly 13 years as a Dow component.
Expect Tesla or Airbnb to get the call
The committee that adds and removes stocks from the Dow aims to have 30 multinational components that represent the U.S. economy. While removing Nike wouldn't necessitate replacing it with another retailer, there's a good likelihood that the committee will stick to a consumer-driven business.
Tesla offers several benefits to the Dow. Its leading electric-vehicle segment provides a direct connection to consumer spending habits. Don't forget that General Motors was a Dow component until June 2009.
Additionally, Elon Musk's trillion-dollar company would bolster the Dow's energy exposure, which is currently limited to Chevron. Tesla's burgeoning energy generation and storage operations can add utility-esque exposure for an index that has none.
Meanwhile, Airbnb would give the Dow a direct link to an estimated $11.6 trillion travel and tourism industry. Though Walt Disney offers some travel industry connections via its theme parks and cruise ships, Airbnb's travel and hosting platform provides a comprehensive view of consumers' discretionary spending.
Most importantly, Tesla and Airbnb would have a meaningful influence within the Dow given their high share prices of $420.60 (Tesla) and $143.10 (Airbnb), as of the closing bell on June 30. It also doesn't hurt that Tesla's and Airbnb's respective shares have handily outperformed Nike in recent years and offer the Dow the potential for long-term upside.

Which stock would I buy in 2026?
The broader travel industry has seen a significant rebound since the COVID-19 pandemic forced many people to cancel their travel plans. It’s thriving now, and although Carnival and Airbnb operate very different business models, it’s worth comparing them for investment purposes.
Carnival’s cruises are seeing record bookings and occupancy, and the company is generating strong cash flow. It has allocated $1.3 billion to upgrading its existing fleet and destinations, and carries a massive amount of debt – but, importantly, it has been paying down that debt significantly.
Airbnb has become somewhat of a household name and a viable alternative to hotels for travelers. Like Carnival, it has generated strong free cash flow and is benefiting from its asset-light business model. It has faced regulatory challenges recently, particularly in major metropolitan cities and other areas where residents want to reduce short-term rentals.
I see both companies’ stock as good investments for a long-term, diversified portfolio. The volatility inherent in many travel stocks may make conservative investors nervous, but if balanced with investments in other sectors, this is less of a concern. If I had to choose one, it would be Carnival, if only for its lower valuation relative to earnings and continued progress in reducing its debt.
