Alcoa Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, produces and sells bauxite, alumina, and aluminum products in the United States, Spain, Australia, Iceland, Norway, Brazil, Canada, and internationally. The company operates through two segments, Alumina and Aluminum. It engages in bauxite mining operations; and processes bauxite into alumina and sells it to customers who process it into industrial chemical products, as well as aluminum smelting and casting businesses. The company offers primary aluminum in the form of alloy ingot or value-add ingot to customers that produce products for the transportation, building and construction, packaging, wire, and other industrial markets; and flat-rolled aluminum in the form of sheet, which is sold primarily to customers that produce beverage and food cans. In addition, it owns hydro power plants that generates and sells electricity in the wholesale market to traders, large industrial consumers, distribution companies, and other generation companies. The company was formerly known as Alcoa Upstream Corporation and changed its name to Alcoa Corporation in October 2016. The company was founded in 1886 and is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Noteworthy Wednesday Option Activity: BTDR, TGTX, AA

The artificial intelligence (AI) frenzy remains intact as the AI infrastructure space remains rock solid, supported by an extremely bullish demand scenario. Research firm McKinsey & Co. has estimated that global AI-powered data center infrastructure capex will reach around $7 trillion by 2030.
The four major hyperscalers raised their AI capital expenditure budget to $750 billion in 2026 from $670 billion estimated earlier. This figure is set to cross $1 trillion next year and is likely to rise further beyond 2027.

Eaton Corp. plc
Eaton is benefiting from strong electrification-driven demand, reflected in rising orders and an expanding backlog. The move toward higher-density AI infrastructure increases demand for grid-to-chip power and cooling solutions, which fits ETN’s electrical portfolio and recent cooling acquisition.
In first-quarter 2026, Electrical Americas data center revenues increased about 50% year over year, and management highlighted the Eaton Beam Rubin DSX platform developed with NVIDIA as an end-to-end blueprint for AI factories.
ETN also discussed progress toward direct-current architectures and solid-state transformer development, including quoting on higher-voltage DC projects and expecting orders in the second half of 2026 for later shipments.
Eaton has an expected revenue and earnings growth rate of 15.3% and 10.4%, respectively, for the current year. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current year’s earnings has improved 0.2% in the last 30 days.
Caterpillar Inc.
Caterpillar is gaining from rising AI data-center-related power demand. As big technology companies establish data centers globally to support their generative AI applications, CAT is witnessing robust order levels for reciprocating engines for data centers. The company is planning to double its output with a multi-year capital investment.
CAT has also revised its target of growing Power Generation sales to more than 3.0X from the earlier stated 2.0X target by 2030. CAT announced another agreement to provide PROPWR up to 2.1 gigawatts of large gas generator sets for prime power generation in support of data center, oil and gas and industrial applications.
Caterpillar has an expected revenue and earnings growth rate of 13.2% and 29.4%, respectively, for the current year. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current year’s earnings has improved 7.8% in the last 30 days.
Freeport-McMoRan Inc.
Freeport-McMoRan has been benefiting significantly from the massive growth of AI-powered data centers. FCX is a leading copper mining entity. The AI-powered data centers required a huge amount of copper, which is an essential component of power distribution, cooling networks, and dense server interconnections.
FCX’s mining operations are - North America copper mines, South America mining, Indonesia mining and Molybdenum. FCX’s copper production for 2025 was 3,383 million pounds. Indonesia, North America and South America accounted for roughly 39%, 31% and 30% of its copper production, respectively, in 2025.
Freeport-McMoRan has an expected revenue and earnings growth rate of 5.1% and 44.6%, respectively, for the current year. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current year’s earnings has improved 0.4% in the last 60 days.
GE Vernova Inc.
GE Vernova stands to gain from global nuclear power energy momentum, particularly through its strong forte in producing SMRs. GEV cemented its standing as one of the biggest long-term winners in the AI-boosted energy boom across nuclear, natural gas, electrification, and grid expansion.
The rapid buildout of AI data centers is forcing utilities to upgrade transmission networks and add new generation capacity, especially natural gas plants that can provide reliable baseload power. This trend is creating strong demand for GEV’s gas turbines and grid solutions.
GE Vernova has an expected revenue and earnings growth rate of 19.1% and 71.9%, respectively, for the current year. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for the current year’s earnings has improved 0.2% in the last 30 days.
Alcoa Corp.
Alcoa could be a potential dark horse for the AI-driven data center boom. Several critical data center units like cooling towers, server racks, radiators and many more are made out of aluminum. Solar panels, wind turbines and climatization units inside data centers are also built with aluminum.
The external economies of scale that AI-powered data centers will create for aluminum and other metal industries have not yet been revealed. Moreover, Alcoa is considering unlocking value from selling its temporarily or permanently closed sites with large existing power capacities, to big techs to convert them into AI data centers.

Watch These 5 Non-Tech Stocks Thriving in 2026 on AI Data Center Boom

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) on Friday closed up +0.37%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) closed up +0.58%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) closed up +0.42%. June E-mini S&P futures (ESM26) rose +0.35%, and June E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQM26) rose +0.42%.
Stock indexes settled higher on Friday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 posting 1-week highs, and the Dow Jones Industrials posting a new all-time high. Stocks were supported by hopes that the US and Iran are moving closer to a peace deal. Also, chipmakers and AI-infrastructure stocks rallied amid the unrelenting enthusiasm for artificial intelligence. In addition, Workday rose by more than +5% to lead software stocks higher after reporting better-than-expected Q1 results and offering a positive outlook.

Stocks fell back from their best levels on Friday after the University of Michigan's US May consumer sentiment index was revised lower to a record low, and May inflation expectations were revised upward. Also, hawkish comments from Fed Governor Christopher Waller weighed on stocks when he said he supports making clear that the Fed's next interest rate move is just as likely to be an increase as "inflation is not headed in the right direction."
The University of Michigan’s May US consumer sentiment index was revised lower to a record low of 44.8 (data from 1978), weaker than expectations of no change at 48.2.
The University of Michigan's US May 1-year inflation expectations rate was revised upward to a 9-month high of +4.8% from +4.5%, stronger than the +4.6% expected. Also, the May 5-10 year inflation expectations rate was revised upward to a 7-month high of 3.9%, stronger than expectations of no change at 3.4%.
WTI crude oil prices (CLM26) remain extremely volatile and are susceptible to headlines from the Iran war. Prices whipsawed lower and higher on Friday and finished with modest gains as the Strait of Hormuz remains closed. Crude prices fell into negative territory briefly on Friday following a Reuters report that said Qatar has sent a negotiating team to Tehran in coordination with the US to help secure a deal to end the war. Iran said the latest US proposal has "narrowed the gaps" between the two sides. That proposal suggested a short-term deal that would see Iran open the Strait of Hormuz and the US lift a blockade of Iranian ports, with both sides then going into deeper negotiations over Iran's nuclear program. Also, on Friday, Secretary of State Rubio noted “slight progress” in the negotiations. Late Monday, President Trump said he called off a strike on Iran scheduled for Tuesday after Gulf allies asked for more time to give diplomacy a chance.
Last Wednesday, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said in a monthly report that global oil inventories declined at a rate of about 4 million bpd in March and April, and the market will remain “severely undersupplied” until October even if the conflict ends next month. Goldman Sachs estimates that the current disruption has drawn down nearly 500 million bbl from global crude stockpiles, with the drawdown potentially reaching 1 billion bbl by June.
The markets are discounting a 0% chance of a -25 bp FOMC rate cut at the next FOMC meeting on June 16-17.
Earnings season is winding down, and reports thus far have been supportive of stocks. As of Friday, 83% of the 475 S&P 500 companies that reported Q1 earnings have beaten estimates. Q1 S&P 500 earnings are projected to climb +12% y/y, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. Stripping out the technology sector, Q1 earnings are projected to increase around +3%, the weakest in two years.
Overseas stock markets settled higher on Friday. The Euro Stoxx 50 climbed to a 2-week high and closed up +0.99%. China's Shanghai Composite recovered from a 3-week low and closed up +0.87%. Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rose to a 1-week high and closed up sharply by +2.68%.
Interest Rates
June 10-year T-notes (ZNM6) on Friday closed up +0.5 of a tick. The 10-year T-note yield fell -1.2 bp to 4.558%. T-notes posted modest gains on Friday amid a decline in inflation expectations, as the 10-year breakeven inflation rate fell to a 1-month low of 2.401%. Also, Friday’s downward revision in the University of Michigan US May consumer sentiment index to a record low was supportive for T-notes.
T-notes gave up most of their gains on Friday after Fed Governor Waller said he supports a Fed rate hike if inflation doesn’t soon slow. Also, the upward revision in the University of Michigan’s May inflation expectations rate was bearish for T-notes. In addition, the strength in stocks on Friday curbed safe-haven demand for government debt and is weighing on T-notes.
European government bond yields are moving lower today. The 10-year German Bund yield fell to a 1.5-week low of 3.022% and finished down -6.0 bp to 3.038%. The 10-year UK gilt yield dropped to a 2-week low of 4.887% and finished down -6.8 bp to 4.897%.
The German May IFO business confidence index unexpectedly rose +0.4 to 84.9, stronger than expectations of a decline to 84.2.
The German June GfK consumer confidence index unexpectedly rose +3.3 to -29.8, stronger than expectations of a decline to -34.0.
ECB Governing Council member Alexander Demarco said, "In June, the ECB will probably need to hike interest rates as we need to send a signal that we are committed to our medium-term 2% inflation target."
UK Apr retail sales ex-auto fuel fell -0.4% m/m, weaker than expectations of -0.3% m/m.
Swaps are discounting an 88% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on June 11.
US Stock Movers
Chipmakers rallied on Friday, helping lift the broader market. Qualcomm (QCOM) closed up more than +11% to lead gainers in the Nasdaq 100, and NXP Semiconductors NV (NXPI) closed up more than +5%. Also, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Analog Devices (ADI), and Texas Instruments (TXN) closed up more than +3%, and ARM Holdings Plc (ARM), Marvell Technology (MRVL), ASML Holding NV (ASML), KLA Corp (KLAC), and Microchip Technology (MCHP) closed up more than +2%. In addition, Lam Research (LRCX) and Applied Materials (AMAT) closed up more than +1%.
Workday (WDAY) closed up more than +5% to lead software stocks higher after reporting Q1 adjusted EPS of $2.66, stronger than the consensus of $2.51, and forecasting Q2 subscription revenue of $2.46 billion, better than the consensus of $2.45 billion. Also, Atlassian Corp (TEAM) and Intuit (INTU) closed up more than +4%, and Salesforce (CRM) and ServiceNow (NOW) closed up more than +2%. In addition, Datadog (DDOG) and Oracle (ORCL) closed up more than +1%.
Dell Technologies (DELL) closed up more than +16% to lead gainers in the S&P 50 after Wells Fargo Securities raised its price target on the stock to $270 from $180.
IMAX Corp. (IMAX) closed up more than +15% after the Wall Street Journal reported the company is exploring a sale and has approached entertainment companies as potential buyers.
Estee Lauder (EL) closed up more than +11% after its proposed merger with Puig Brands SA fell apart due to compensation demands from Charlotte Tilbury.
Zoom Communications (ZM) closed up more than +9% after reporting Q1 of $1.24 billion, above the consensus of $1.22 billion, and raising its 2027 revenue forecast to $5.08 billion-$5.09 billion from a previous forecast of $5.07 billion-$5.08 billion, better than the consensus of $5.07 billion.
Ross Stores (ROST) closed up more than +8% after reporting Q1 sales of $6.01 billion, stronger than the consensus of $5.61 billion.
Alcoa (AA) closed up more than +7% after UBS upgraded the stock to buy from neutral with a price target of $80.
Merck & Co (MRK) closed up more than +5% to lead gainers in the Dow Jones Industrials after the European Medicines Agency’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use recommended approval of Keytruda in combination with Padcev for the treatment of bladder cancer.
Take-Two Interactive Software (TTWO) closed down more than -4% to lead losers in the Nasdaq 100 after forecasting 2027 net bookings of $8.0 billion to $8.2 billion, well below the consensus of $9.11 billion.
Coinbase Global (COIN) closed down more than -4% to lead losers in the S&P 500 as the price of Bitcoin (^BTCUSD) fell more than -2% to a 3-week low,
Summit Therapeutics (SMMT) closed down more than -4% after Bernstein initiated coverage on the stock with an underperform rating and a price target of $7.70.
Denali Therapeutics (DNLI) closed down more than -3% after reporting that a mid-stage study of an experimental therapy for Parkinson’s disease, with partner Biogen, did not meet its primary or secondary endpoints.
Inspire Medical Systems (INSP) closed down more than -2% after Bank of America Global Research downgraded the stock to underperform from neutral with a price target of $39.

Noteworthy Friday Option Activity: AMZN, WMT, AA

The Board of Directors of PepsiCo today declared a quarterly dividend of $1.48 per share of PepsiCo common stock, a 4 percent increase versus the comparable year-earlier period. Today's action is consistent with PepsiCo's previously announced increase in its annualized dividend to $5.92 per share from $5.69 per share, which is expected to begin with the June 2026 payment. This dividend is payable on June 30, 2026 to shareholders of record at the close of business on June 5, 2026. PepsiCo has paid consecutive quarterly cash dividends since 1965, and 2026 marked the company's 54th consecutive annual dividend increase.
ADM's Board of Directors has declared a cash dividend of 52.0 cents per share on the company's common stock. The dividend is payable on June 10, 2026, to shareholders of record on May 20, 2026. This is ADM's 378th consecutive quarterly payment, representing 53 years of consecutive years of dividend growth, and a record of more than 94 consecutive years of uninterrupted dividends.

Pittsburgh-based Alcoa has been investing in a gallium recovery plant in Western Australia.
Teck Resources is looking to benefit from processing minerals at its Trail plant in British Columbia.
Both stocks are up more than 70% over the past year and they have potential to move still higher.
China controls roughly 99% of the world's primary low-purity gallium production and has put limits on its export since 2023. The metal, crucial for high-end semiconductors, is mainly a byproduct of aluminum (bauxite) and zinc refining. While raw bauxite isn't hard to come by outside of China, there are few places outside of that country that have invested in the expensive process to extract gallium.
This month, prices for gallium are roughly $2,269 per kilogram -- a 141% increase since the start of 2025. Two mining stocks that could benefit from that trend are Alcoa (NYSE: AA) and Teck Resources (NYSE: TECK). Here are reasons to buy each stock.
Alcoa benefits from shifting global supply chains
The need to source aluminum and gallium outside China means that companies are willing to pay a premium for Alcoa's products. Unlike many of its competitors, Alcoa has a vertically integrated supply chain in so-called "safe" locations. It has access to bauxite reserves at seven global mines in Australia, Brazil, Guinea, and Saudi Arabia. The company has seven refineries, six of which are located near key markets on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts.
The Pittsburgh company received $200 million from the Australian government in November, alongside U.S. and Japanese government equity support, for a gallium recovery plant at Alcoa's Wagerup alumina refinery in Western Australia. The project, being worked on with the Sojitz Corporation of Japan, aims to achieve annual gallium production of 100 million tons.
Improved financial health
In the first quarter, Alcoa reported revenue of $3.19 billion, down 7% sequentially. But earnings per share (EPS) doubled over the fourth quarter of 2025, to $1.60. The improvement in profitability is mainly due to the average realized price of aluminum increasing by 12.2% to $4.2 billion per U.S. metric tonne, as the London Metal Exchange price and regional premiums spiked amid Middle East shipping disruptions.
The company is aggressively using its $1.4 billion in cash to improve its financial health. It recently issued a notice to redeem $219 million of high-interest senior notes due in 2028, reducing its debt burden.
The stock is priced right
Alcoa shares trade at slightly more than 9 times forward earnings, a competitive valuation compared to its peers.
The successful restart of Alcoa's San Ciprián smelter in Spain is expected to add significant volume to the aluminum segment. Management said it expects the move to contribute an additional $55 million in earnings in the second quarter alone, driven by increased shipments and lower per-unit costs.
Teck is positioning itself to benefit from the gallium push
Canadian mining company Teck Holdings isn't a gallium producer, but it's positioning itself to own the gallium processing infrastructure that Western governments are currently subsidizing to bypass Chinese supply chains. This toll-booth model for critical minerals reduces Teck's direct mining risk while keeping it at the center of the North American semiconductor supply chain.
The company just sold its Apex germanium, gallium, and copper mine in Utah to Blue Moon Metals (NASDAQ: BMM) while retaining an 8% stake in Blue Moon. Instead, Teck will receive a 0.5% net smelter returns royalty on the property and a capped royalty of $1 million. Blue Moon will process its zinc concentrates, including gallium, at Teck's Trail operations in British Columbia.
Teck is growing revenue and EPS
In 2025, Teck reported revenue of $10.8 billion, up 18.6%, and EPS of $2.84, compared to an EPS loss of $0.90 in 2024. It is in the process of merging with Anglo American, with the new company to be called Anglo Teck. The new company plans to focus on three goals: Keeping mines open longer, expanding processing capacity, and identifying additional copper projects. Teck said the merger, if approved, should deliver annual pre-tax synergies of about $800 million.
In the right place at the right time
China's control over critical minerals has increased their prices. That, in turn, works in favor of companies such as Alcoa and Teck, as it makes it more profitable, in some cases with governmental support, to mine and process critical minerals like copper and gallium.
Both stocks have seen their shares jump more than 70% over the past year as investors realize they are financially healthy and poised to get even healthier.

Otis Worldwide Corporation OTIS reported mixed first-quarter 2026 results, wherein earnings missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate and declined year over year. Meanwhile, net sales surpassed the same and increased from the prior year's reported figure.
Otis Worldwide’s first-quarter results reflected broad-based momentum in Service, led by repair activity, alongside solid order and backlog improvement in the modernization business. The company has emphasized actions around operational execution, pricing and cost efficiency as it works to monetize investments and improve margin performance in the coming quarters.
However, management attributed the margin pressure to tariff impacts relative to the prior year, continued Service investments that began in the second quarter of last year and accelerated this year, and shipment delays tied to geopolitical disruption in the Middle East.
Inside OTIS’ Q1 Headlines
OTIS reported earnings per share (EPS) of 89 cents, missing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 91 cents by 2.2%. In the year-ago quarter, it had reported an adjusted EPS of 92 cents.
Net sales of $3.57 billion surpassed the consensus mark of $3.5 billion by 2% and increased 6.4% on a year-over-year basis. Organically, net sales were up 1% year over year. Favorable foreign exchange movement supported sales growth by 5%. A standout in the quarter was repair, with net sales up 16% at actual currency and organic repair sales up about 10%.
Adjusted operating margin contracted 130 basis points year over year to 15.4%, reflecting weaker segment performance, partially offset by a favorable segment mix. Our model predicted the adjusted operating margin to decrease 70 bps (basis points) year over year to 16%.
Segment Details of OTIS
Service: The net sales of this segment increased 11% year over year to $2.42 billion. A 5% rise in organic sales was accompanied by a 5% favorable foreign exchange movement. Organic maintenance and repair sales increased 4%, and organic modernization sales rose 6% from the year-ago quarter. Our model estimated organic sales for the segment to grow 10.2%. The Modernization backlog at constant currency increased 30% year over year.
Segment operating margin contracted 160 bps year over year to 23% due to higher volume and favorable pricing, which were more than offset by higher labor and material costs, investments and mix effects.
New Equipment: This segment’s net sales of $1.15 billion fell 1% from the prior-year period. Organic sales declined 5%. Our model predicted organic sales for the New Equipment segment to decrease 5%.
New Equipment orders rose 1% at constant currency, with more than 20% strength in the Americas and low single-digit growth in EMEA, partially offset by more than 20% decline in the Asia Pacific and a low teens decline in China. The segment’s backlog increased 6% at actual currency and 3% at constant currency, providing some support for future revenue conversion despite near-term delivery challenges.
Segment operating margin contracted 240 bps year over year to 3.3%. The downtrend was due to the impacts of lower volume, unfavorable price, and mix, which was partially offset by productivity tailwinds.
Financial Position of OTIS
Otis Worldwide had cash and cash equivalents of $834 million as of March 31, 2026, down from $1.1 billion reported at 2025-end. Long-term debt decreased to $6.88 billion as of March 31, 2026, from $6.9 billion at the end of 2025.
Net cash flows provided by operating activities were $413 million as of March 31, 2026, up from $190 million a year ago.
Adjusted free cash flow (FCF) totaled $272 million as of March 31, 2026, up from $186 million a year ago.
OTIS Revises 2026 Guidance
The company expects net sales in the range of $15.1-$15.3 billion (up from the prior outlook of $15-$15.3 billion), implying approximately 4.6%-6% year-over-year growth. Organic sales growth is still projected in the low- to mid-single-digit range.
Organic New Equipment sales are now expected to range from low single digits to flat (previously projected as flat to low single digits), while Organic Service sales are still anticipated to grow in the mid- to high-single-digit range.
Adjusted operating profit is projected at $2.5 billion (down from the prior range of $2.5-$2.6 billion), now reflecting an increase of $20-$60 million at constant currency and $60-$100 million at actual currency.
Adjusted earnings are forecast at $4.20-$4.24 per share, while adjusted free cash flow is expected to be between $1.6 billion and $1.65 billion (compared with the earlier outlook of $1.6-$1.7 billion).

Otis Worldwide Q1 Earnings Fall Short of Estimates, Sales Beat

Last week, Reuters, citing anonymous sources, reported that United Airlines (NASDAQ: UAL) CEO Scott Kirby had presented a potential merger with American Airlines (NYSE: AA) to President Donald Trump at a late-February meeting.
Rumors of the deal, which would have created the largest global airline by capacity, sent American Airlines' stock surging higher.

But yesterday, American Airlines CEO shot down these reports, with a spokesperson issuing a statement that said, "American Airlines is not engaged with or interested in any discussions regarding a merger with United Airlines."
That sent the stock lower, as investors believed that such a deal would have made American Airlines the acquisition target, given its lower market cap, leading to a premium offer on the current stock price.
Today, American Airlines stock is once again in the red, down roughly 3.3% in the final hour of trading. Here are two other factors dragging down the stock today.
Trump shuts the door on potential merger
American issuing a statement yesterday was reason enough to believe that a tie-up between the two airlines wasn't going to happen. Still, not all investors fully take companies at their word, so there might have been some holding out hope that a merger could still materialize down the line.
Trump seemed to close the door on this idea, saying, "But with American it's doing fine, and United is doing very well. ​I know the United people, they're doing very well. I don't like having them merge."
That statement alone might have sent any investors hopeful for a deal exiting the stock. The potential for a deal also drew criticism from a bipartisan group of U.S. Senators, so obtaining regulatory approval may have been difficult, if it was ever considered in the first place.
Another factor impacting American Airlines -- and much of the broader market -- is renewed tensions between the U.S. and Iran, which have driven oil futures prices higher.
As of early afternoon, U.S. Vice President JD Vance had not yet left for Islamabad, Pakistan, to attend a new round of negotiations between the U.S. and Iran aimed at reaching a longer-term agreement that would end the war.
The U.S. and Iran previously entered a two-week ceasefire, which is slated to expire tomorrow, on April 22. However, the ceasefire has been fragile, with both the U.S. and Iran claiming the other violated the short-term agreement.
If the ceasefire is not extended or a longer-term agreement is not reached, oil prices are likely to soar again, further pressuring airline stocks like American Airlines, which have seen jet fuel prices surge.
Higher jet fuel prices will likely raise travel costs, potentially stunting consumer demand that had been shaping up nicely for the airline sector. Already, American, along with other major airlines, has increased fees for checked bags.
American Airlines is expected to report its 2026 first-quarter earnings on Thursday, which will provide investors with more details on pricing pressures seen in March and on management's view of the environment moving forward.
A lot can happen between now and then, so I expect the stock to be volatile this week.

American Airlines Has Denied Rumors of a Merger With United. Here Are 2 Others Factors Dragging Down the Stock Right Now.

3M Company MMM reported first-quarter 2026 results, wherein earnings surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate while revenues missed the same.

3M delivered adjusted earnings of $2.14 per share, which surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.02 by 5.9%. The bottom line increased 14% year over year.
The company reported net revenues of $6.03 billion in the quarter. The metric increased 1.3% year over year. However, organic sales decreased 1.4%. Foreign currency translation had a positive impact of 2.8% while acquisitions/divestitures had a negative impact of 0.1%.
MMM’s adjusted revenues of $6 billion missed the consensus estimate of $6.02 billion by 0.3%. On an adjusted basis, organic revenues increased 1.2% year over year. The results were supported by strength in general industrial, safety and electronics end markets.
Region-wise, adjusted organic sales in the Americas rose 0.1% year over year, other Asia adjusted organic sales increased 4.6% and China adjusted organic sales increased 4%. Adjusted organic sales from businesses in Europe, the Middle East and Africa decreased 0.7%.
3M’s Q1 Segmental Results
Revenues from Safety and Industrial totaled $2.93 billion, up 6.8% year over year, driven by strength in safety, industrial adhesives and tapes, abrasives and electrical markets. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for the segment’s revenues was pegged at $2.90 billion. Organic revenues increased 3.2% and foreign currency translation had a positive impact of 3.6%.
Revenues from Transportation & Electronics totaled $1.85 billion, reflecting a year-over-year increase of 1.8%. The consensus estimate for the segment’s revenues was pegged at $1.87 billion. However, the segment’s organic sales decreased 0.3%. Foreign currency translation had a 2.4% favorable impact, while divestiture had an adverse impact of 0.3% on revenues.
Revenues from the Consumer segment increased 0.6% year over year to $1.13 billion. The consensus estimate for the segment’s revenues was pegged at $1.14 billion. Organic sales decreased 1.3% while movements in foreign currencies had a positive impact of 1.9%.

3M’s Balance Sheet & Cash Flow
Exiting the first three months of 2026, 3M had cash and cash equivalents of $3.73 billion compared with $5.24 billion at the end of December 2025. Long-term debt was $10.91 billion at the end of the quarter compared with $10.93 billion at the end of December 2025.
3M generated a net cash of $574 million in operating activities compared with $79 million cash used in the year-ago quarter. Capital used for purchasing property, plant and equipment decreased 4.7% to $225 million.
Adjusted free cash flow at the end of the quarter was $541 million, up 10.6% year over year. Adjusted free cash flow conversion was 47% in the quarter.
In the first three months of 2026, 3M rewarded its shareholders with $2.41 billion in share repurchases and dividend payments.
MMM’s 2026 Guidance
For 2026, MMM expects adjusted earnings to be in the range of $8.50-$8.70 per share. The midpoint of the guided range is about $8.60, which reflects an increase from earnings of $8.06 per share reported in 2025.
Adjusted organic revenue growth is projected to be about 3%. The company expects the adjusted free cash flow conversion rate to be more than 100%.

Danaher Corporation’s DHR first-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of $2.06 per share beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.95. The bottom line increased 9.6% year over year.
Danaher reported net sales of $5.95 billion, which missed the consensus estimate of $5.99 billion. However, the metric increased 3.5% year over year. The quarter reflected continued strength in the bioprocessing business and better-than-expected performance in the Life Sciences segment.
DHR’s core sales increased 0.5% year over year in the quarter. Foreign-currency translations had a positive impact of 3%.

Revenues from the Life Sciences segment totaled $1.74 billion, up 3.5% year over year. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for the segment’s revenues was pegged at $1.73 billion. Selling, general and administrative expenses were flat at $1.86 billion. Research and development expenses were $387 million, up 2.1% year over year.
Danaher’s operating profit increased 5.5% year over year to $1.34 billion. Operating margin increased to 22.6% from 22.2% in the year-ago quarter.
DHR’s Q1 Balance Sheet & Cash Flow
Exiting the first quarter, DHR had cash and equivalents of $5.70 billion compared with $4.62 billion at 2025-end. Long-term debt was $17.5 billion at the end of the quarter compared with $18.4 billion at the end of December 2025.
Danaher generated net cash of $1.32 billion from operating activities in the first three months of 2026 compared with $1.30 billion in the previous year’s comparable period. Capital expenditures totaled $237 million in the same period, down 3.3% year over year. Adjusted free cash flow increased 2.4% year over year to $1.09 billion in the first three months of 2026.
In the same period, DHR paid out dividends of $226 million, up 16.5% on a year-over-year basis.
Danaher Raises 2026 EPS View
For the second quarter of 2026, Danaher expects adjusted core sales to increase in the low single digits on a year-over-year basis.
The metric is anticipated to increase 3-6% on a year-over-year basis in 2026. The company expects adjusted earnings to be $8.35-$8.55 per share compared with $8.35-$8.50 expected earlier.
Masimo Deal in Focus
In February 2026, Danaher inked a deal to acquire Masimo Corp. for $9.9 billion. The addition of Masimo’s advanced sensor technology and AI-enabled monitoring will enable DHR to enhance its diagnostics portfolio. The acquired company will operate as a standalone company within Danaher’s Diagnostics segment, alongside Radiometer, Leica Biosystems, Cepheid and Beckman Coulter Diagnostics. Subject to customary closing conditions, the acquisition is expected to close in the second half of 2026.
