The segment also offers wireline services in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern United States, as well as Washington D.C. through its fiber-optic network, Verizon Fios product portfolio, and a copper-based network. The Business segment provides wireless and wireline communications services and products, including FWA broadband, data, video and conferencing, corporate networking, security and managed network, local and long-distance voice, and network access services to deliver various IoT services and products to businesses, government customers, and wireless and wireline carriers in the United States and internationally. The company was formerly known as Bell Atlantic Corporation and changed its name to Verizon Communications Inc. in June 2000. Verizon and Carnival are posting modest revenue growth, but it's positive growth for two undervalued investments.
It's not easy to find legitimate bargains in the market these days. Winners keep winning, often at a pace that exceeds the improvement in their fundamentals. The stocks that are lagging are probably being left behind for a reason.
I still see bargains here. I think Verizon (NYSE: VZ) and Carnival Corp. (NYSE: CCL) (NYSE: CUK) are dirt cheap stocks in this somewhat elevated market. They would be a good place for your next $300. Let's take a closer look.

1. Verizon
You're not going to buy Verizon for high-octane growth. You have to go all the way back to 2009 -- 16 years ago -- to find the last time revenue for the wireless carrier has topped 6%.
Regardless, Verizon is a money machine. It generates a lot of cash serving the telecommunication needs of its 146.1 million consumer and business accounts. It has reported a normalized net income margin in the double digits for in each of the last 10 years.
It's not keeping all the money it's making for itself, either. Verizon pays out a generous quarterly dividend. Its current 7.1% yield is the highest among the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES: ^DJI). It has raised its distributions in each of the past 19 years.
Is Verizon about to shift into a new era of heartier growth? Probably not. If the rollout of 5G technology and other infrastructure improvements in recent years didn't find the business pushing down on the accelerator, it's not likely to happen anytime soon. Analysts see revenue falling short of 3% growth this year and next year, just as it has failed to clear that bar in each of the past three years in the golden age of 5G.
The payoff here is that Verizon is cheap. It's trading for just nine times trailing earnings, and eight times forward earnings. It does have a debt-heavy balance sheet that makes its enterprise value double its market cap, but it's still an attractive value proposition. Slow and steady isn't great, but it's a winning recipe for a cheap stock that should hold up better than a market that appears historically overvalued.
2. Carnival
There's a lot to say about cruise line stocks in general and Carnival in particular. The industry was shut down for more than 15 months in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, and even after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lifted its "No Sail Order" for ships, it was far from business as usual. Just a handful of ships were sailing well below capacity. There were passenger requirements and restrictions that watered down the experience, no pun intended.
Fast-forward to today. Carnival is on a winning streak of 10 consecutive quarters of record quarterly revenue results. It has an even longer run of bottom-line beats, landing ahead of analyst profit targets for a dozen quarters.
Carnival is the largest of the cruise lines in terms of fleet size and the number of passengers that walk up the gangplank. Its namesake brand is the best known option, and a mass market leader. It also has several more upscale lines.
It finally returned to profitability. Unlike Verizon or Royal Caribbean, its largest rival cruise line operator, Carnival isn't sharing its newfound wealth through dividends. However, net yield -- an industry metric that amounts to adjusted gross margin per available passenger cruise day -- is now at an all-time high.
The price to invest in Carnival is more than reasonable. It's trading for a modest 14 times the midpoint of its earnings guidance for this year. The multiple drops to 12 if you turn to what analysts are modeling for next year. In the meantime, consumer appetite for hitting the high seas continues to rise like the tide. It already has half of next year's sailing capacity booked. The total deposits for future sailings that it's holding is the highest that it has ever been at this time. Carnival is cheap, and its recovery is misunderstood and not fairly appreciated.
In the end, $300 is enough to buy either seven shares of Verizon or 10 shares of Carnival. You can also reshuffle your allocation to buy both. They aren't perfect stocks, but they are cheap -- dirt cheap -- in today's market.

There were positives and negatives with the latest inflation report. The September Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased at a lower rate than expected. However, prices jumped at the fastest year-over-year rate since January.
The odds seem to be pretty good that Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and the rest of the Federal Open Markets Committee (FOMC) accentuate the positive when they meet this week. If so, Powell could soon give more good news to investors in the form of further rate cuts.

Look for the stock market rally to gain some steam in this scenario. And three stocks stand to be especially big winners if Powell delivers another rate cut as many expect.
1. Digital Realty Trust
Real estate investment trusts (REITs) are natural beneficiaries of interest rate cuts. Their business models are built around borrowing money to buy and/or build new properties, which they can then lease out. I think Digital Realty Trust (NYSE: DLR) is one of the better REIT stocks in a lower-interest environment.
Digital Realty Trust focuses on data centers. It currently operates more than 300 data center facilities in over 25 countries. The demand for data centers is skyrocketing, fueled by the surging deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) systems.
CEO Andy Power noted in Digital Realty Trust's recent third-quarterearnings call "Meeting this demand within our markets, however, is becoming increasingly challenging." He cited limited electrical power availability, obstacles in obtaining permits, and infrastructure challenges as key problems.
Another hurdle, though, is that building new data centers is expensive. Digital Realty Trust's debt totaled $18.2 billion as of Sept. 30, 2025. It paid $113.6 million in interest expense in Q3, roughly 7% of its total operating revenue. Lower interest rates translate to lower interest expense on new and refinanced borrowing, which leads to higher profitability for this top AI-focused REIT.
2. D.R. Horton
What's one of the biggest reasons Americans who want to build a new house don't move forward? Cost. Mortgage rates are a key component of the high costs associated with homebuilding. If mortgage rates come down, more new houses will be constructed. That would be a great scenario for D.R. Horton (NYSE: DHI).
Since 2002, D.R. Horton has ranked as the largest homebuilder in the U.S. based on volume. Around one out of every seven new single-family homes in the country is built by the company. D.R. Horton operates in 126 markets in 36 states.
Granted, the Fed has control over federal funds rates (the interest rates that commercial banks lend to each other overnight) rather than mortgage rates. While the Fed's rate cuts can impact mortgage rates, other factors are also important, including Treasury bond yields, inflation, economic growth, and more.
Still, mortgage rates recently fell to their lowest level of the year. An additional rate cut from the Fed could keep this downward trend going. D.R. Horton should directly benefit if it does.
3. Verizon Communications
As we discussed with Digital Realty Trust, lower interest rates reduce borrowing costs. Companies that have high debt loads, therefore, tend to be big winners when the Fed cuts rates. Telecommunications giant Verizon Communications (NYSE: VZ) has a total debt of $146 billion at the end of the second quarter of 2025.
Verizon's business is capital-intensive. The company must invest heavily in infrastructure to compete against major rivals who are also investing heavily. Lower rates make those investments more affordable. However, there's also another reason why I think Verizon could be an especially big beneficiary from additional Fed rate cuts.
Lower interest rates usually cause bond yields to fall. When that happens, stocks with strong dividend yields tend to become more attractive to investors. Their dividend yields can often be higher than bond yields while also providing potential share price appreciation.
I suspect that a lower-rate environment will cause more bond investors to take a hard look at Verizon. The telecom leader's forward dividend yield is 7.1%. Verizon has also increased its dividend for 19 consecutive years. These factors could make Verizon more enticing if interest rates fall.

However, the company is set to face stiff competition from AT&T, Inc. T and T-Mobile US, Inc. TMUS. T and TMUS have also introduced wireless plans with enticing features tailored for people aged 55 and above.
The company has also introduced Tracfone Freedom with its leading prepaid brand, Tracfone Wireless. The plan offers unlimited talk time, text and data for $45 per month with Auto-pay. Backed by Verizon's comprehensive 5G network, the plan comes with built-in spam and fraud protection features. It also includes international connectivity for calling, texting and roaming in Canada & Mexico and an additional 10% discount for military members and veterans. Verizon’s offering of mix and match pricing plans in both wireless and home broadband has led to strong customer additions.
In the quarter under review, the Tampa Police Department has formed a partnership with Verizon Frontline. Verizon Frontline is set to deploy and activate around 950 5G Ultra-Wideband-enabled smartphones, significantly upgrading the mission-critical communication infrastructure of the police department.
In the to be reported quarter, Verizon Business has deployed advanced converged network (Wi-Fi) services at the National Hockey League team St. Louis Blues’ stadium, Enterprise Center. Verizon Business is witnessing weak demand trends. However, customer wins like this are expected to partially reverse this declining trend.

Verizon has been gaining solid traction in the Consumer segment, backed by some major growth drivers. It is steadily building the entire network infrastructure and ecosystem to provide the most amazing 5G experience to customers. The company has witnessed increased adoption of 5G devices and premium unlimited plans. Verizon’s customer segmentation strategy, which categorizes different client groups, helps it deliver tailored solutions to different sectors. Such personalized offerings help in client retention and drive average revenue per account growth.
However, it is affected by weakness in the Business Segment, which primarily includes the wireless and wireline operations of wholesale, public sector and other small and medium businesses. Demand softness in the public sector business will continue to impact Verizon’s Business segment in the second half of 2025 as well.
The company’s effort to diversify its revenue stream by venturing into new markets such as public safety and the automotive domain is positive. However, stiff competition in its primary revenue drivers, which are 5G and broadband, is still hindering the top line growth.In a bid to expand its customer base, Verizon is spending heavily on promotion and is also offering lucrative discounts, which are weighing on margins.

1. Chevron
Energy giant Chevron (NYSE: CVX) is a solid dividend payer, with a recent dividend yield of 4.5%. (Even Warren Buffett likes the stock -- and his company recently owned 7% of it.) Better still, the company has been buying back a lot of its stock, with its smaller share count leaving remaining shares more valuable. (When you combine dividend payments and share repurchases, Chevron's total yield for shareholders was recently 9.4%.)
The economic environment is uncertain when it comes to energy prices, too, but Chevron has navigated through such environments before, and has managed to increase its dividend annually for 38 years. The fact that it's an integrated energy company helps, too, as it's involved in upstream activities such as drilling for oil, midstream activities such as transporting energy, and downstream activities such as refining oil.
With its recent forward-looking price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 18.2 above its five-year average of 13.2, Chevron doesn't look bargain priced. So you're likely to get best results if you plan to hold for many years. (To play it safer, you might buy into it gradually or just add it to your watch list.)
2. Vici Properties
Vici Properties (NYSE: VICI) is a real estate investment trust (REIT), which means it's required to pay out at least 90% of its taxable earnings as dividends. And Vici pays out a lot in dividends, with a recent dividend yield of 5.8%.
REITs generally specialize in one or more parts of the real estate market, such as retail or medical properties or warehouses. Vici's portfolio includes 54 casinos, 60,000-plus hotel rooms, four championship golf courses, around 500 retail outlets, and more.
The stock has averaged annual growth of 10.9% over the past five years, and its dividend has grown, too, from $1 per share in 2018 to $1.75 currently. If you see the real estate and/or gambling industry growing, take a closer look at Vici. Its forward P/E ratio, recently 10.8, is below its five-year average of 12.5.
3. Verizon Communications
Verizon Communications (NYSE: VZ) has recently been sporting a fat dividend yield of 6.8%. That's clearly tempting, but know that Verizon is carrying a lot of debt -- which it probably can't pay down very quickly due to its dividend obligations. It faces competition, too.
Still, it has some upsides. For example, it's less affected by tariffs than many companies, and it's a prodigious producer of free cash flow. It also appears rather undervalued at recent levels, with a forward P/E ratio of 8.5 below the five-year average of 9.
Verizon's dividend seems safe at the moment, so you might consider buying the stock for the income. Don't expect it to be a powerful growth stock, though.
4. Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF
Finally, since you might not be ready to study dividend payers and select the best ones, consider just buying the haystack instead of searching for needles. The Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF (NYSEMKT: SCHD) is a great choice, with a recent dividend yield of 3.8% and a 10-year average annual gain of 11.5%. It's invested in about 100 companies, such as AbbVie, Amgen, and Cisco Systems -- companies that tend to increase their payouts over time.
So do consider adding some dividend-generating securities to your portfolio -- for income, for growth, and for diversification.

It delivers broadband connectivity from space to unmodified mobile devices, providing a service to fill cellular coverage gaps in a differentiated approach compared to other space-based communication services. AST SpaceMobile has partnered with leading carriers such as AT&T and Verizon to tap into a pre-existing pool of cell customers and raise funds to help build a worldwide satellite network. This has enhanced cellular coverage in the United States, essentially eliminating dead zones and empowering remote areas of the country with space-based connectivity.
However, unfavorable macroeconomic conditions, including rising inflation, higher interest rates, capital market volatility, tariff imposition and geopolitical conflicts, are negatively impacting the company’s operations. These have led to continued fluctuations in satellite material prices, resulting in increased capital costs and pressure on the company’s financial performance. In addition, AST SpaceMobile faces severe competition from existing and new industry leaders like SpaceX’s Starlink and Globalstar, which are developing satellite communications technology using LEO constellations. To combat such competitive pressure, ASTS has to continuously customize its network offerings, enhance the cost-effectiveness of its products and services and boost its satellite data networks, which increases operating costs and reduces margins.
