Vale S.A., together with its subsidiaries, produces and sells iron ore and iron ore pellets for use as raw materials in steelmaking in Brazil and internationally. The company operates through Iron Solutions and Energy Transition Materials segments. The Iron Solutions segment produces and extracts iron ore and pellets, manganese, and other ferrous products; and provides related logistic services. The Energy Transition Materials segment produces and extracts nickel used to produce stainless steel, electric vehicles, and metal alloys; and its by-products, such as gold, silver, cobalt, precious metals, platinum, and others, as well as copper used in the construction sector to produce pipes and electrical wires. The company was formerly known as Companhia Vale do Rio Doce and changed its name to Vale S.A. in May 2009. Vale S.A. was founded in 1942 and is headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Dividend yield of 2.37% looks acceptable, but it is below recent peaks, so the dividend factor is more stabilizing than a driver of re-rating. Revenue and profit remain very large in absolute terms, and equity has grown, confirming the scale and financial resilience of the business. At the same time, EBITDA in the latest TTM looks abnormally weak relative to previous quarters, so the short-term trend should be treated cautiously and the quality of reporting should be checked. Overall, the fundamentals support a moderately positive view, but weak return on capital, higher leverage, and deteriorating liquidity limit the potential for multiple expansion. For an investor, this means fair value may be slightly below the current near-term reference level, and any reassessment should remain conservative.

(RTTNews) - Vale (VALE) reported first quarter net income attributable to shareholders of $1.89 billion, up 36% from a year ago. Earnings per share was $0.44 compared to $0.33. Adjusted EBITDA was $3.83 billion, up 23%.
Proforma net income attributable to shareholders was $1.89 billion, an increase of 29% from prior year. Proforma EBITDA was $3.89 billion, up 21%.
First quarter net operating revenue was $9.26 billion, an increase of 14% from prior year.
At last close, Vale shares were trading at $16.91, down 0.94%.

Vale Q1 Net Income Rises

As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy -- they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
At Annovis Bio, a filing with the SEC revealed that on Thursday, Director Michael B. Hoffman bought 713,800 shares of ANVS, at a cost of $2.10 each, for a total investment of $1.5M. So far Hoffman is in the green, up about 31.9% on their purchase based on today's trading high of $2.77. Annovis Bio is trading up about 18.8% on the day Monday. Before this latest buy, Hoffman bought ANVS at 5 other times during the past year, for a total cost of $2.46M at an average of $2.24 per share.
And at Vale, there was insider buying on Wednesday, by Executive VP Legal Officer Sobrinho Sami Arap who bought 12,990 shares for a cost of $16.11 each, for a trade totaling $209,290. This buy marks the first one filed by Arap in the past year. Vale is trading up about 0.1% on the day Monday. So far Arap is in the green, up about 1.2% on their purchase based on today's trading high of $16.30.
