Texas Instruments Incorporated designs, manufactures, and sells semiconductors to electronics designers and manufacturers in the United States and internationally. The company operates through Analog and Embedded Processing segments. The Analog segment offers power products to manage power requirements across various voltage levels, including battery-management solutions, DC/DC switching regulators, AC/DC and isolated controllers and converters, power switches, linear regulators, voltage references, and lighting products. This segment provides signal chain products that sense, condition, and measure signals to allow information to be transferred or converted for further processing and control, including amplifiers, data converters, interface products, motor drives, clocks, and logic and sensing products. The Embedded Processing segment offers microcontrollers that are used in electronic equipment; digital signal processors for mathematical computations; and applications processors for specific computing activity. This segment offers products for use in various markets, such as industrial, automotive, personal electronics, communications equipment, enterprise systems, and calculators and other. It provides DLP products primarily for use in project high-definition images; calculators; and application-specific integrated circuits. The company markets and sells its semiconductor products through direct sales and distributors, as well as through its website. Texas Instruments Incorporated was founded in 1930 and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas.

Texas Instruments looks like a high-quality but already expensive business: the company’s profitability and liquidity are very strong, but the market valuation already reflects this almost fully. Gross margin of 58.33% is high, but its growth over the period is limited, meaning there is no strong additional driver here for a multiple expansion. Dividend yield has fallen to zero in the current TTM, so the dividend factor is not supporting the investment case now the way it used to. Overall, the fundamentals point to strong quality and resilience, but not to clear undervaluation. For an investor, this is more of a story about a reliable, profitable, and efficient asset than a cheap opportunity with major upside. Given the high starting valuation, it is reasonable to expect only a modest downward revision to the forecast, rather than a significant change in the target price.

Sep WTI crude oil prices (CLU26) jumped by more than +7% today as the recent lull in hostilities came to an abrupt end after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it targeted a US airbase and command center in Jordan with ballistic missiles. The IRGC also claimed to have hit and halted three tankers attempting to transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, the US and Saudi Arabia launched a joint attack on "Iran-aligned terrorists" in Iraq after the IRGC directed them to target US forces and Saudi energy infrastructure.
Tensions remain high in the Middle East as the US maintains its blockade of Iranian oil shipments in the Persian Gulf. Also, diplomatic attempts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz appear to be at an impasse. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Gharibabadi said Oman's proposal for a route through the Strait of Hormuz, with 50% under Iran's control and 50% under Oman's, would not address Iran's concerns and that the inbound passage and part of the outbound channel must be entirely under Iran's control.
US MBA mortgage applications fell -6.4% in the week ended July 24, with the purchase mortgage sub-index down -3.6% and the refinancing mortgage sub-index down -9.9%. The average 30-year fixed rate mortgage rose +7 bp to an 11.5-month high of 6.76% from 6.69% the prior week.
The outlook for strong Q2 earnings, which continue this week, is a bullish factor for stocks. The markets are awaiting results from a raft of megacap technology companies this week, including Microsoft and Meta Platforms today, and Amazon.com and Apple on Thursday. Forecasts compiled by Bloomberg Intelligence suggest Q2 earnings may increase by +23%, close to Q1’s blowout earnings of +30%, which was more than double the +12% analysts had expected. AI spending is expected to account for most of earnings, with AI infrastructure stocks set to contribute nearly 60% of the S&P 500's earnings-per-share growth in Q2. So far, earnings results have been positive, with 87% of the 216 S&P 500 companies that have reported Q2 earnings beating estimates, according to Bloomberg data.
The markets are discounting a 34% chance of a +25 bp rate hike at the conclusion of today’s FOMC meeting.
Overseas stock markets are mixed today. The Euro Stoxx 50 is down -0.73%. China's Shanghai Composite rebounded from a 1-week low and closed up +0.40%. Japan's Nikkei-225 Stock Average fell to a 2.25-month low and closed down -1.49%.

Stocks Tumble Ahead of FOMC as Chipmakers Plunge

Microchip Technology MCHP announced on Friday (July 24) that it has inked a definitive agreement to acquire Hailo, a provider of accelerated edge AI processors, advanced vision processing solutions, robotics processors and comprehensive AI software flows. The deal, expected to be completed in the ongoing quarter, will significantly strengthen MCHP’s prospects in the fast-growing edge AI market.
Hailo’s dedicated AI accelerators, vision processors and software tools will expand Microchip’s processing portfolio beyond microcontrollers, microprocessors and FPGAs, enabling it to address compute-intensive AI workloads in robots, drones, smart cameras, industrial automation and embedded systems. Microchip has already strengthened FPGA-based AI capabilities through the Neuronix AI Labs acquisition and VectorBlox 3.0, which uses sparse neural-network technology to improve inference efficiency on PolarFire FPGAs and SoCs.

Texas Instruments rides on its broad analog and embedded processing portfolio, extensive manufacturing capacity and deep presence in industrial, automotive and data center markets. The company is benefiting from strong growth across industrial, automotive and embedded processing businesses and noted increasing demand driven by AI infrastructure, EVs and industrial automation. Texas Instruments’ investments in manufacturing capacity, diverse product portfolio and expanding embedded solutions enable it to capture design wins in power management, embedded controllers and edge computing applications.
Ambarella continues to strengthen its leadership in AI vision processors and edge inference. The company highlighted its comprehensive Edge AI platform with 12 AI SoCs, support for more than 200 AI model architectures and over 46 million cumulative Edge AI SoC shipments. ExxonMobil
Shares of oil and gas giant ExxonMobil are up around 29% this year and close to 40% over the past 12 months. As commodity prices have been rising, investors have been loading up on the industry leader, expecting it to benefit significantly from higher oil prices, just as it has in the past.
That excitement is evident in its valuation: the stock trades at only 14 times future earnings (based on analyst expectations). That's a low multiple, given that the average S&P 500 stock trades at about 21 times its projected future profits. This modest valuation could lead to more upside for the stock, especially if oil prices remain high.
Exxon can be volatile due to the changes in oil prices, but overall, it's been an exceptional dividend stock to own, as it has raised its payout for decades. That gives investors plenty of incentive to just buy and hold. Currently, the stock yields 2.7%, and that would be higher if not for its recent run-up in value.
UnitedHealth Group
Health insurance giant UnitedHealth is another top dividend growth stock to own. In previous years, it has struggled with rising costs as higher utilization rates weighed on its financials. But now, with more normalcy in the healthcare sector and UnitedHealth leveraging AI to its advantage, it's been able to get a better handle on costs, and its financials have been improving.
The company has gone from routinely missing expectations to now beating them again. Investors, in turn, have been buying up the stock given its stronger results, and UnitedHealth is up 28% thus far in 2026. It's still not near the highs of more than $600 that it reached a few years ago, but it's been making some solid gains of late.
Currently, it yields 2.2%, which is about double the S&P 500 average of 1.1%. And over the past five years, it has increased its payout by an impressive 60%, giving investors plenty of incentive to buy and hold the healthcare stock for the long haul.
Texas Instruments
The hottest stock on this list has been Texas Instruments, which is up around 62% this year. The semiconductor company has been experiencing significant growth of late, giving both dividend and growth investors a reason to invest in its business. Revenue of $5.5 billion in its most recent quarter (which ended on June 30) was up 23% year over year, while net income of just under $2 billion rose by 53%.
Texas Instruments makes embedded chips that serve many different needs, including automotive and industrial sectors. Demand from data centers has been particularly strong with tech companies investing heavily in AI, and that's been a big reason the stock has been such a hot buy this year and why its financials have looked impressive.
In addition to some solid growth opportunities, the stock also makes for an attractive dividend investment, yielding just over 2%. Its current quarterly dividend rate of $1.42 has grown by 39% in five years, from the $1.02 per share it was paying in 2021.

Looking back, China contributed $1.02 billion, or 21.2%, in the previous quarter, and $985 million, or 22.1%, in the same quarter of the previous year.
