GameStop (NYSE: GME) posted its results for the fiscal 2025 fourth quarter (ended Jan. 31) after the market closed on March 24. The company posted non-GAAP (adjusted) profit of $0.49 per share, representing an impressive step up from the adjusted per-share profit of $0.30 it posted in the prior-year period.
Meanwhile, GameStop's revenue came in at $1.1 billion for the quarter -- down 14.1% year over year. While the retailer's stock closed out the day after its earnings report up roughly 1% thanks in large part to bullish momentum for the broader market, its stock is down roughly 11% from its 2026 peak. Should investors buy GameStop stock even though sales are sinking?
Given recent trends affecting the video game industry, GameStop's double-digit sales revenue in the fourth quarter wasn't particularly shocking. Relatively underwhelming sales performance for gaming consoles from Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo has tamped down overall industry revenue, and last year's fourth quarter wasn't particularly heavy on big software releases.
Adding to pressures for GameStop, players have continued to shift their purchasing habits toward digital downloads rather than physical copies of games bought in stores. PCs and handheld platforms, including Valve's Steam Deck, have also been increasing in popularity, and this trend has had the effect of weakening demand for the console hardware and software that are GameStop's lifeblood.
Despite the substantial sales decline, the company's efficiency initiatives and investments allowed it to post substantial earnings growth in the period. Adjusted earnings per share were up 63% year over year. In light of the big sales decline, the company's Q4 profit actually looks very encouraging. It also underscores a major change in how investors should think of GameStop as a company and as a stock.
GameStop closed out last year's fiscal fourth quarter with $9 billion in cash and equivalents -- up from $4.8 billion at the end of the previous year. While the sales decline certainly isn't a bullish development, the story surrounding GameStop stock has become largely divorced from the performance of its video game retail business. Barring an unforeseen and dramatic turnaround, continued gains for digital distribution over physical retail suggest that the company will continue to see its gaming retail revenue decline over the long term.
With GameStop valued at approximately $10.3 billion, the real question surrounding the stock is what exactly the company will do with its $9 billion cash position. During the the height of the meme stock mania surrounding GameStop, the company smartly moved to sell new shares to improve its financial position. The stock sales allowed the company to wipe out debt and build a war chest that CEO Ryan Cohen and his team can use for acquisitions, investments, and other initiatives to transform the business.
It now makes more sense to think of GameStop as a holding company than as a video game retailer when assessing potential valuation moves for the stock. Whether to invest in GameStop stock should come down to the level of faith you have in Cohen and his ability to further his transformation strategy, not to recent sales trends for the gaming retail business.

(RTTNews) - Sony Corporation (SONA.F, 0L83.L, SONY, 6758.T) and TCL Electronics Holdings announced they have entered into legally binding definitive agreements for a strategic partnership in the home entertainment field. Sony will establish a wholly owned subsidiary to assume its home entertainment business, and TCL will subscribe to a portion of this preparatory company's shares, forming a joint venture with TCL holding 51% and Sony holding 49% of the shares. The new company will succeed to Sony's home entertainment business. The new company is expected to commence operations in April 2027. The new company's products are expected to carry the Sony and BRAVIA names.
The consideration payable by TCL is assumed to be approximately 75.4 billion yen, at present. The final amount will be determined following further adjustments for certain net debt and working capital at the timing of closing.
With headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, the new company, BRAVIA Inc., is expected to become a consolidated subsidiary of TCL Electronics Holdings and an equity-method affiliate of Sony.
Shares of Sony are trading at 3,209 yen, up 0.66%.

Sony, TCL Sign Agreements; New Home Entertainment Company To Commence Operations In April 2027

(RTTNews) - Sony Honda Mobility Inc. (SONY) on Wednesday announced the termination of its development and subsequent launch of AFEELA electric vehicles, including the AFEELA 1 and an additional planned model, as a result of Honda Motor Co., Ltd.'s recent revision of its electrification strategy.
The joint venture, established by Sony Group Corporation and Honda in 2022, indicated that Honda's strategic reevaluation has rendered certain planned technologies and assets unavailable, thus eliminating any feasible pathway to a commercial launch. Customers in California who have reserved the AFEELA 1 will be offered full refunds.
Honda has recently cautioned that it anticipates a writedown of up to 2.5 trillion yen associated with its EV business restructuring. The AFEELA 1 was initially slated for delivery later this year, with a starting price set at $89,900.
SONY is currently trading at $20.60, up $0.03 or 0.15 percent on the New York Stock Exchange.

(RTTNews) - Japanese conglomerate Sony Group Corp. (SON.L, SNE) reported Thursday higher profit and sales in its third quarter, and raised fiscal 2025 outlook.
In Japan, Sony shares were gaining around 0.21 percent to trade at 3,352.00 yen.
In the third quarter, net income attributable to stockholders from continuous operations grew 11 percent to 377.3 billion yen from last year's 341.1 billion yen. Earnings per share grew to 62.82 yen from 56.42 yen last year.
Operating income climbed 22 percent to 515 billion yen from 423.0 billion yen a year ago.
Sales grew 1 percent to 3.71 trillion yen from 3.69 trillion yen a year earlier.
For the nine month ended December 31, net income attributable grew 12.4 percent year-over-year to 947.78 billion yen or 157.23 yen per share, operating income grew 21 percent to 1.28 trillion yen, and total sales from continuing operations increased 2.3 percent to 9.44 trillion yen.
Looking ahead to the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, the company now expects net income attributable to stockholders to grow 5.9 percent year-over-year to 1.13 trillion yen. Operating income is projected to rise 20.6 percent year-over-year to 1.54 trillion yen, and revenues are expected to rise 2.2 percent from last year to 12.30 trillion yen.
The company previously expected net income attributable to stockholders to decline 1.6 percent year-over-year to 1.05 trillion yen. Operating income wass projected to rise 12 percent to 1.43 trillion yen, while revenues were expected to edge down 0.3 percent from last year to 12 trillion yen.

Sony Group Corporation SONY is scheduled to report third-quarter fiscal 2025 earnings on Feb. 5, 2026.
The Zacks Consensus Estimate for earnings is pegged at 34 cents per share, down 17% from the year-ago figure. The consensus estimate for revenues is $23.9 billion, implying a 17.5% decline from the prior-year actuals.
The company’s earnings surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate in each of the last four quarters, with the average surprise being 36.9%.

Strong momentum in Game & Network Services (G&NS), Music and Imaging & Sensing Solutions (I&SS) units amid a slowdown in the Pictures and Entertainment, Technology & Services (ET&S) is likely to have driven Sony’s revenue trajectory in the fiscal third quarter. The G&NS segment is on a steady track, driven by the continued growth of PlayStation 5 in both active users and user spending. PlayStation’s monthly active users rose 3% year over year in September to 119 million.
Game software and network services sales are expected to have increased in the to-be-reported quarter, driven by more users moving to higher service tiers and stronger first-party game releases. Sony plans to build on this momentum to support long-term, profitable growth and invest in shaping the future of play. The company expects steady growth in revenues and profit from network services as the PS5 user base expands. Key goals include increasing revenues from PlayStation Plus and maximizing PlayStation Store earnings through personalization and pricing optimization.
Sony Music continues to benefit from steady streaming growth and a deep content library, while Sony Pictures’ performance will hinge on box office trends and licensing revenue. It plans to expand its Music business in emerging markets like Latin America, India and parts of Europe, where streaming adoption is rising through organic growth and acquisitions. The company is investing in music catalogs, talent discovery and partnerships with local labels, while expanding IP via biopics, documentaries and live events. Sony Music Group also strengthened digital platform ties, signing new licensing deals with Spotify and supporting responsible AI use that protects artists and songwriters.

In the imaging market, demand has weakened sharply in China after subsidies ended on June 30, 2025, and in the United States due to the drag from additional tariffs.
Also, businesses with significant U.S. dollar- and euro-denominated expenses, such as Game & Network Services and Electronics, are likely to be more exposed to forex swings.

But that doesn't prevent its biggest bulls from setting lofty targets for next year. Can Dogecoin reach the $1 mark in 2026? It's possible, but not probable.

Hype is what influences Dogecoin's price
Markets these days are structured totally differently than in the past. Dogecoin is proof of this, as having a strong community of supporters might be the only thing keeping it relevant.
Dogecoin was created as a joke alternative to Bitcoin, with no true purpose other than that. But as an early entrant to the crypto world, it attracted fans that have carried the price. Nonetheless, Dogecoin's price moves based on short bursts of heightened interest. But what goes up has typically come down fast, which becomes clear when we look at Dogecoin's historical price chart.
Thinking through a best-case scenario makes things crystal clear
If Dogecoin's price does reach $1, it would imply a market cap of $152 billion. That is not insignificant. At that market cap, Dogecoin would rival the valuations of companies like Sony, Capital One, and Unilever.
But what would it take to get to this point? To put it simply, there would need to be an unprecedented surge in demand for Dogecoin tokens. This would introduce immense amounts of capital, which could rapidly drive up the price.
There are already Dogecoin spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on the market. These started launching more than a year ago. We're past the initial phase of excitement, so this catalyst has already played out and is now in the rearview mirror.
Perhaps Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk will post on social media site X (formerly Twitter) that he will deeply integrate Dogecoin into the operations of his various businesses. Or maybe he will announce a new venture whose primary goal is to boost adoption of Dogecoin. This could help jump-start the price.
Macro conditions might result in market exuberance. Additionally, Dogecoin's developer community might come up with some game-changing innovations that make the blockchain more compelling for a variety of use cases.
Even if all of these factors happened in the coming months, an outcome I view as having almost no chance of happening, Dogecoin still would probably fail to hit $1 next year.
Investors should avoid short-term price targets
While Dogecoin's bulls want the token's price to soar 673% during the next year to get to $1 before the end of 2026, this outcome just isn't in the cards without what amounts to a miracle. It's smart to temper expectations. Dogecoin's best days might be behind it.
And when it comes to having the right mindset, investors shouldn't look to buy stocks or cryptocurrencies with only a 12-month time horizon. The best strategy is to focus on the long term, paying attention to the quality of the assets in question instead of trying to predict price movements, a tempting activity that is largely a waste of time.
Dogecoin remains a dangerous gamble. If you're looking to take on more risk in your portfolio -- within reason -- there are lots of growth stocks to choose from. And in the world of crypto, Bitcoin is the best digital asset to own.

Alphabet’s shares have outperformed the Zacks Internet - Services industry over the past year (+63.8% vs. +59%). The company is benefiting from accelerated growth across AI infrastructure initiatives, Google Cloud and Search. Google Cloud ended the third quarter of 2025 with $155 billion in backlog, up 46% sequentially.
The number of new Google Cloud Platform customers increased by roughly 34% year over year, and 70% of Google Cloud customers now use Alphabet’s AI products. In Q3 2025, revenues from products built on Alphabet’s generative AI models (Gemini, Imagen, Veo, Chirp and Lyria) grew more than 200% year-over-year, reflecting accelerating adoption.
Search is benefiting from AI Overviews and AI Mode that has driven growth in overall queries. YouTube is benefiting from the growing demand for shorts. However, stiff competition in cloud computing has been concerning.

Shares of Tesla shares have gained +11.3% over the past year against the Zacks Automotive - Domestic industry’s gain of +13.9%. The company set a new delivery record in Q3, but much of it came from buyers rushing to claim the expiring $7,500 EV tax credit. With incentives withdrawn and competition from Chinese EV makers intensifying, Q4 deliveries are expected to drop.
Automotive margins are expected to be under pressure. Still, there are a few bright spots. The Energy Generation & Storage unit is thriving, and the Supercharger network continues to expand. Tesla’s robotaxi service, launched in June, is currently operational in Austin and San Francisco. Encouragingly, Tesla recently started driverless robotaxi tests.
That said, while the company’s big pivot into artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous driving and robotics bode well, these projects could take years to yield meaningful results. For now, the stock warrants a neutral stance.

Sony’s shares have outperformed the Zacks Audio Video Production industry over the past year (+26.5% vs. +24.4%). The company’s performance is driven by continued strength in the Game & Network Services (G&NS), Music and Imaging & Sensing Solutions (I&SS) units amid softness in the Pictures and Entertainment, Technology & Services (ET&S).
Rising PS engagements buoy G&NS, while Music rides on higher streaming in Recorded Music and Publishing. I&SS is led by higher image sensor sales for mobiles and cameras. Stronger image sensor sales and tighter cost control by cutting low-profit areas and focusing resources on key priorities are driving profitability in fiscal 2025.
The sports business gained momentum with the STATSports buyout. Combining its data with Hawk-Eye and KinaTrax is likely to deliver top-tier sports analytics and drive overall growth. However, business volatility in the second half, along with a slowdown in the imaging market, remains a worry.

Shares of Tredegar have underperformed the Zacks Chemical - Plastic industry over the past year (-1.6% vs. +23.8%). This microcap company with a market capitalization of $261.48 million is facing risks which include elevated corporate costs, high customer concentration in PE Films, rising working capital, and volatile earnings, historically marked by large impairments and restructuring charges.
Nevertheless, Tredegar posted a strong Q3 2025 rebound, with Aluminum Extrusions EBITDA surging 172% YoY on higher volumes, improved pricing and cost controls. Net income swung to $7.1 million vs. a $3.4 million loss in Q3 2024, supported by stronger operating cash flow and reduced interest burden.
Despite 50% aluminum tariffs, the company maintained its market position through pricing flexibility and posted 34% YoY volume growth in specialty products. PE Films remained a stable cash contributor, with cost initiatives underway for 2026. Net debt dropped from $54.8 million to $36.2 million, aided by divestiture proceeds, improving financial flexibility.

CVD Equipment’s shares have gained +9.3% over the past six months against the Zacks Manufacturing - General Industrial industry’s gain of +10.5%. This microcap company with a market capitalization of $21.30 million is positioned for long-term growth in advanced materials for aerospace, silicon carbide (SiC) power electronics and EV batteries, supported by differentiated CVD/CVI platforms.
Aerospace adoption of ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) is a key tailwind, with CVV’s systems embedded in propulsion programs and supported by repeat orders. In power electronics, CVV is aligned with the industry shift to 200mm SiC wafers driven by EV electrification, while PowderCoat systems expand exposure to silicon anodes.
Recent margin improvement and a restructuring plan targeting $2 million in annual cost savings from fiscal 2026 should enhance operating leverage. Risks include order volatility, customer concentration, billing delays, margin variability and outsourcing execution. Valuation reflects these risks but offers asymmetric upside if demand inflects.
