Ten stocks of companies with market caps of $10 billion or more have outgained Palantir so far in 2025:

This list reflects several fast-growing markets. Like Palantir, three of the stocks have strong artificial intelligence (AI) connections. Coreweave is an AI cloud computing provider. Symbotic is a leader in AI-powered robotics for warehouses. NuScale Power makes small modular nuclear reactors that generate electricity, with a special focus on providing power for AI data centers.
Roblox runs a virtual universe for online gamers. It also has AI ties, though. For example, Roblox Cube is a generative AI application that helps users create 3D and 4D objects and scenes for its gaming platform.
Three of the stocks outperforming Palantir this year are in the financial services business. Robinhood is a popular online brokerage. Circle Internet Group specializes in building the infrastructure for stablecoins. Futu Holdings operates a digital brokerage and wealth management platform.
AngloGold Ashanti is a global gold mining company, but it's intertwined with the financial world. The price of gold has skyrocketed due largely to investors' concerns about market volatility.
Two other stocks are flying high -- literally. AST SpaceMobile is building a satellite-based broadband network. Joby Aviation operates vertical takeoff and landing air taxis.
Wall Street's take
Wall Street isn't bullish on Palantir. Only four of the analysts surveyed by LSEG in July recommended buying the stock. The consensus 12-month price target for Palantir is 34% lower than the current share price.
Do analysts have more favorable opinions about the 10 large-cap stocks that have outgained Palantir this year? For the most part, no.
The price targets for Coreweave, Robinhood, NuScale Power, Symbotic, and Roblox are at least 30% below the share prices for these stocks. The average price target for Joby Aviation is more than 50% lower than its share price. Analysts also expect shares of Circle Internet Group, Futu Holdings, and AST SpaceMobile to fall by double-digit percentages over the next 12 months.
Of the 10 large-cap stocks outperforming Palantir in 2025, only one has a consensus price target that reflects positive upside potential -- AngloGold Ashanti. But don't get excited yet. Analysts think the gold miner's shares will rise by less than 3% over the near term.
Are the analysts right?
I suspect Wall Street analysts are right to be skeptical about the near-term prospects of most of these high-flying stocks. The biggest knock against them (with a couple of exceptions) is their exorbitant valuations. That's the main issue for Palantir, too.
However, AngloGold Ashanti's shares trade at only 10.4 times forward earnings even after its huge gains. And while Symbotic's earnings multiples are at nosebleed levels, the stock's price-to-sales ratio is a much more reasonable 1.33.
Any or all of these stocks could continue to soar over the coming months. I think, though, that the best choices are the most attractively valued -- AngloGold Ashanti and Symbotic.

NuScale Power SMR is benefiting from an expanding partner base, which includes major technology companies and financial institutions. This expansion positions SMR as a key player in the future of sustainable, carbon-free energy. In June 2025, Constellation Energy signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with Meta to supply 1,121 MW of emissions-free nuclear energy from the Clinton Clean Energy Center. Constellation Energy’s deal with Meta ensures the plant’s continued operation post-2027, expands output by 30 MW, and supports Meta’s clean energy goals.

SMR shares have surged 157.1% in the year-to-date period, outperforming the Zacks Computer & Technology sector’s appreciation of 8.4% and the Zacks Electronics- Power Generation industry’s rise of 132.6%.

· US Debt will Soar: The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the BBB will add $3.4 trillion to the US deficit over the next decade. With the deficit set to soar, the US will have no choice but to fully embrace AI and “grow the country out of debt.” (More on that later)
· Solar Subsidies will be Removed: The loss of solar subsidies in the BBB will lead to a natural market force toward cheap and clean nuclear power.
US Seeks to Remove Nuclear Red Tape
US Energy Secretary Chris Wright sent nuclear-related stocks soaring Monday after he posted to social media a message that read:
“Let’s talk nuclear energy: the energy-dense, always-ON energy source that we’ve smothered for decades with regulatory red tape. Under the Trump administration, you’re going to truly see the launch of the nuclear renaissance. The coming years will be HUGE.”
Several uranium, energy storage, and nuclear-related stocks spiked on heavy trading volume after the news, including Cameco (CCJ), Centrus Energy (LEU), NuScale Power (SMR), and Eos Energy Enterprises (EOSE). Thanks to President Trump's enthusiastic support of the nuclear energy industry, shares of small modular reactor (SMR) developer NuScale Power ripped higher and extended their gain in June. All in all, NuScale Power stock soared 120.6% through the first six months of 2025, according to data provided by S&P Global Market Intelligence.
President Trump gives the green light to a niche of the green energy industry
The lack of President Trump's enthusiasm for clean energy-affiliated business from electric cars to wind power has been clear for some time. What became glaringly apparent in late May, however, was his affinity for nuclear energy. On May 23, President Trump issued executive orders meant to spur advancement of the nation's nuclear energy industry -- and NuScale Power investors were paying attention.
Providing a plan for modernizing the country's nuclear energy reactors, Trump's executive orders address several areas of the industry. For one, the orders are meant to expedite the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's process for licensing new reactors. Plus, the orders seek to reduce the time it takes to test advanced reactors -- something of particular note for NuScale Power, which is working toward commercial deployment of its SMR NuScale Power Module.
Particularly noteworthy in the executive orders is President Trump's direction to the Department of Energy to recognize artificial intelligence (AI) data centers as "critical defense facilities." In concert with this, the orders direct the secretary of energy to use "all available legal authorities to site, approve, and authorize deployment of advanced reactors to power them."
With AI companies making hefty investments in developing data center infrastructure, the opportunities for SMR developers like NuScale Power are ample.
While the executive orders represented the major catalyst behind the stock's rise in the first half of the year, that's not to say that there was nothing in June that stoked investors' excitement. On June 5, John Hopkins, the company's CEO, revealed in a discussion with Axios Pro that NuScale Power is communicating with several "tier 1" hyperscalers that are interested in purchasing power from the company.
What can investors expect in the remainder of 2025
In light of NuScale Power stock's climb in 2024 and through the last six months, it seems reasonable to expect that shares will pull back at some point. Growth stocks like NuScale Power often demonstrate considerable volatility in the early innings of their development.
For those uncomfortable with enduring the stock's potential vicissitudes and the inherent risks associated with a company that's not yet profitable, it may be more prudent to consider a nuclear energy-focused exchange-traded fund (ETF) at this point.

Google is betting on future tech
Google has signed a multibillion-dollar deal with Commonwealth Fusion System (CFS), a nuclear fusion start-up backed by Bill Gates. The deal will see Google secure 200 megawatts from CFS's first plant in Virginia by the 2030s.
Nuclear fusion, in contrast to today's fission-based systems like those of NuScale, produces significantly more power and is safe and clean -- no spent nuclear material to dispose of and no risk of a meltdown. It has long been the holy grail of energy production but has so far eluded scientists. However, recent developments indicate it could be a reality in the next decade or so.
It's a big if
Scientists have thought fusion technology was a decade or so away for decades. The investment from Google makes sense because of the upside, but you can bet that Google is hedging its bet with more realistic plans to meet its energy needs today and in the near future.
NuScale Power's small model reactors (SMRs) make a lot of sense to fill that need in the near term. That being said, the company is still developing the technology. If you have significant risk tolerance, NuScale could be a good addition, but know that the stock will likely see a lot of volatility and is currently extremely pricey.

Why NuScale Power Stock Sank 8.7% Today

Artificial intelligence (AI) and electrification are driving the world to need more energy. One form of electric power generation that is coming back into vogue is nuclear power. Large companies are making commitments to buy electricity from nuclear power plants, while utilities are extending the contracts for existing facilities and planning to bring new power sources to life in the next few years.
One stock that has benefited from this changing nuclear energy sentiment is NuScale Power Corporation (NYSE: SMR). The start-up is working on small modular reactor technology to license to third parties, hopefully to democratize the technology. Shares of the stock are up 250% in the last year, beating the broad market averages. But is it a buy right now?

Betting on new nuclear energy developments
Small modular reactors are almost self-explanatory. Unlike the traditional large nuclear power plants, these are smaller systems that can (theoretically) be made more efficiently by combining a bunch together or using one system for a small energy need. Using similar technology to traditional power plants, NuScale Power wants to help utilities improve on the capital intensity a nuclear power plant takes to build, which can be a daunting proposition.
So far, it has not built any actual reactors, but it is the first and only company to get approval from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for a small modular design. This occurred in 2023, with a recent approval happening for the same design but just at a different electricity output. The company does not have any customer orders yet, but management believes one will arrive by the end of 2025, given that it is fully approved with its designs. It is also studying an old coal power plant in Romania to see about the feasibility of turning it into a nuclear power facility.
Canceled projects, delayed timelines
There's a lot of excitement about NuScale Power right now. Spending on energy is well over $1 trillion every year just in the United States. If NuScale Power can commercialize a breakthrough technology in electricity generation with its small modular reactors, there could be enormous revenue potential.
The problem is, no major customers have committed to a project yet. It used to have a project planned with a Utah utility that started in 2015. However, due to major cost overruns and delayed timelines, the utility canceled the project in 2023. This is not a good sign for the viability of small modular reactors. Companies that design legacy nuclear power systems with proven viability still struggle to find utilities willing to invest in nuclear energy projects. A totally unproven technology is going to be a hard ask for utilities and their shareholders to risk.
Is NuScale Power stock a buy?
Today, after going up so much in the past year, NuScale Power stock trades at a market cap of $11 billion. Even though it generates a bit of revenue from the study in Romania, the company can generally be considered a pre-revenue start-up with no product ever sold to customers. It has revenue of $49 million and $98 million in negative free cash flow over the last 12 months.
The company is consistently raising money from capital markets, too. Its shares outstanding keep climbing as it has to raise money to stem its major cash burn. Rising shares outstanding dilutes shareholders, which will be a headwind to long-term returns. It is unclear whether the company will have a viable project contract signed anytime soon, and even if a project is signed, it takes many years for a nuclear power plant to get built, modular or not.
Even if a project gets planned, the stock is already pricing in this growth. At a market cap of $11 billion, the company needs to eventually be generating billions of dollars in revenue in order to make an adequate return for shareholders. Add it all up, and NuScale Power stock looks like a highly risky stock that investors should keep out of their portfolios right now.

SMR faces stiff competition in the nuclear energy industry from companies such as Centrus Energy LEU and Constellation Energy CEG.
Centrus Energy is benefiting from increased demand for nuclear fuel, particularly High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU), and from its role in developing and deploying advanced nuclear technologies like SMRs.
Centrus Energy recently announced that the U.S. Department of Energy has extended its HALEU production contract through June 30, 2026, as part of Phase III of its ongoing agreement. This follows Centrus’ successful delivery of 20 kg of HALEU in Phase I and ongoing production of 900 kg under Phase II. The extension marks the start of a potential eight additional years of production to support advanced nuclear reactor development.
Constellation Energy is deeply committed to nuclear power, which serves as the foundation of its carbon-free electricity production. The company operates the largest nuclear fleet in the country, generating nearly 90% of its energy annually without producing carbon emissions. Additionally, Constellation Energy is working to expand its nuclear presence by renewing licenses for existing plants, securing long-term power purchase agreements, and exploring opportunities to construct new reactors.
SMR’s Share Price Performance, Valuation and Estimates
SMR shares have surged 113.3% in the year-to-date period, outperforming the Zacks Computer & Technology sector’s appreciation of 4.5% and the Zacks Electronics- Power Generation industry’s rise of 109.7%.
