EchoStar Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, provides networking technologies and services worldwide. The company operates in four segments: Pay-TV, Retail Wireless, 5G Network Deployment, Broadband and Satellite Services. The Pay-TV segment offers a direct broadcast and fixed satellite services; designs, develops, and distributes receiver system; and provides digital broadcast operations, including satellite uplinking/downlinking, transmission and, other services to third-party pay-TV providers; and multichannel, live-linear and on-demand streaming over-the-top internet-based domestic, international, Latino, and Freestream video programming services under the DISH and SLING brand names. The Retail Wireless segment provides prepaid and postpaid wireless services under the Boost Mobile, Boost postpaid, and Gen Mobile brands, as well various wireless devices. The Network Deployment segment deploys a facilities-based 5G broadband network and commercializes deployment of 5G VoNR. The Broadband and Satellite Services offers broadband services to consumer customers, which include home, and small to medium-sized businesses; and satellite and multi-transport technologies, and managed network services to telecommunications providers, aeronautical service providers, civilian and defense government entities, and other enterprise customers. EchoStar Corporation was incorporated in 2007 and is headquartered in Englewood, Colorado.

Although EchoStar (NASDAQ: SATS) wasn't exactly a stock market star on Wednesday, it did quite well on the market. Investors bid it up by 3% that day, thanks to news from a company the satellite specialist has had plenty of dealings with over the years.

Sure enough, Wednesday morning, Bloomberg published an article stating that SpaceX had filed confidentially with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for an IPO. Citing unidentified "people familiar with the matter," thefinancial newsagency added that this makes it likely the IPO will occur in June.
Musk and his team often like to conduct business in spectacular fashion. So it's entirely in character that this IPO will be, if not ultimately the largest in history, one that really tips the scales. According to Bloomberg's sources, SpaceX's valuation could top $1.75 trillion.
SpaceX has not officially commented on the report, nor has the SEC.
The power of partnership
EchoStar and SpaceX made headlines last year when the satellite specialist sold its wireless spectrum assets to the space company. Outside of that, the two are regular business partners, with SpaceX hauling EchoStar's satellites into the void.
So any IPO that injects a planetary amount of cash into SpaceX is sure to benefit that company's business partners, and EchoStar is among the most important of those entities. Investors are right to be excited about the continued, rocket-like rise of the space giant.

Sure, there have been a few space exploration companies that have gone public during this time frame, but the largest name in the space, Elon Musk's SpaceX, remains private.
As a result, insiders and private investors have benefited from the start-up's rise to a sky-high valuation. Meanwhile, everyday investors have stayed stuck on the sidelines. Moreover, while there is ample excitement among public investors to get in on a SpaceX IPO, the best move may be to capitalize on a possible indirect effect of a SpaceX IPO: greater attention and appreciation for the existing, smaller publicly traded space stocks.
Why a SpaceX IPO changes the story for AST SpaceMobile, Rocket Lab, and others
If SpaceX goes public sometime soon, other names in the space could see a ripple effect, with bullishness for SpaceX spilling over into other space exploration stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
Key beneficiaries of this trend may range from telecom satellite stocks like AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ: ASTS) to rocket stocks such as launch service provider Rocket Lab (NASDAQ: RKLB). Most, if not all, of these stocks base their current valuation on future potential.
Even so, if sentiment for space stocks becomes even more bullish following a SpaceX IPO, some or all of these additional names could make "to the moon" style moves.
An even more direct beneficiary
While the public debut of SpaceX could enable investors to discover or rediscover names like AST SpaceMobile and Rocket Lab, it's important to note that there's already one stock that could directly benefit from SpaceX going public.
EchoStar (NASDAQ: SATS), a satellite telecommunications company, is best known for its consumer-facing products like Dish pay-TV service and Boost Mobile wireless phone service. However, Echostar has been transitioning itself into a spectrum holding company, seeking to capitalize on its most important assets. The company has engaged in numerous spectrum sale transactions lately, including a $22.6 billion sale to AT&T and a wireless spectrum sale to SpaceX valued at $17 billion to $20 billion.
What's most interesting about the SpaceX deal is that it entailed EchoStar receiving a 2% equity stake in the hot start-up. Valued at around $11 billion today, implying a $550 billion valuation for SpaceX, at first it may be questionable whether this position can increase in value post-IPO. With Echostar shares rising over 52% in the past six months, the stock's valuation may already reflect the value of this position, and then some. That said, this underscores the need and urgency to research these stocks now, ahead of SpaceX going public. Once this major event occurs, price discovery could happen in a flash, creating a small window to capitalize on this opportunity.

A SpaceX IPO Could Open the Door for More Investment Into Smaller Space Companies Like Rocket Lab and Planet Labs

Fabricating leading-edge semiconductors is one of the most difficult manufacturing challenges in the world -- perhaps the most difficult. So why does Musk think he can pull it off? And how can investors gain exposure to this massive project?
Terafab's goal: Produce a terawatt of compute
Musk thinks he's going to need more chips. Lots more chips -- so much so that he will need to build his own massive fab to meet his needs.
Just how large are these needs? In the future, Musk envisions needing a terawatt of compute per year. To put that in perspective, Musk noted in his presentation that the world's current AI computing manufacturing capacity is just 20 gigawatts – roughly 2% of the capacity he says he will require. While leading fabs will no doubt greatly increase their AI chip capacity going forward, Musk doesn't believe it will be at a pace nearly fast enough to satisfy the demand he envisions. That's especially true given the widespread shortages of GPUs and CPUs today, and the fact that much of the world's current fab capacity is taken up by giants such as Nvidia and others.
While Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) is already making chips with Samsung, Musk noted in the Terafab presentation that major chip fabs don't like to expand too quickly. After all, the chip industry has been quite cyclical in the past, so chipmakers are reluctant to expand too much in any one year in case of an economic downturn. Samsung, for its part, has lagged market leader Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (NYSE: TSM) in yields and efficiency. Samsung is also the world's largest memory company and will have to invest heavily in expanding both DRAM and NAND output, in addition to its logic semiconductors.
Given the intense competition for a limited supply, it's no wonder Musk is considering building his own fab.
What is Musk going to do with all those chips?
Musk's two big companies, Tesla and the soon-to-be-public SpaceX, will be the primary users of the chips.
In Musk's presentation, he outlined a strong need for chips to power Tesla's robotaxi fleet; however, the demand will be much, much greater from Tesla's upcoming Optimus robots. While Tesla's AI chip needs will be robust, Musk predicts Optimus robots will require between 10 and 100 times that amount over time. Tesla plans to release the first Optimus robots in 2027, and Musk believes these robots could eventually outnumber humans.
But Musk believes Tesla and Optimus will account for only about 100 to 200 GW, or 10% to 20% of the terafab's capacity. So the majority of the remaining 800 GW or so will be for SpaceX's efforts. Of note, SpaceX just merged with Musk's AI company, xAI. While some of the remaining chip capacity may go to xAI's AI data centers here on earth, Musk actually intends to use the vast majority of the chipmaking capacity for space.
Not only will those ambitions include AI data centers in space -- an idea that has recently received a lot of media attention -- but Musk also outlined plans to build a space station on the moon to launch rockets to other planets. Launches from the moon would be less costly, according to Musk, because the moon doesn't have the gravitational pull of Earth. And Musk's vision isn't just for enterprises; he also sees a thriving consumer space economy, contemplating tourist trips to Saturn, among other futuristic visions.
Obviously, building an entire industrial AI-driven space economy would be a massive undertaking, and that is why Terafab will be required to meet those ambitions.
2 ways to get exposure to the Terafab
Having a Terafab is tantalizing for investors. After all, TSMC, the world's largest semiconductor foundry, is valued at $1.8 trillion. So if Terafab were 50 times the size of TSMC, would Terafab's value alone be $90 trillion?
Of course, Terafab might not be its own standalone company. The presentation indicates it will be co-owned and managed by Tesla, currently valued at $1.4 trillion, and SpaceX, which is rumored to be valued at $1.75 trillion ahead of its upcoming IPO.
SpaceX is set to go public soon, but for those looking to jump in on SpaceX before it goes public -- especially as it will consume the majority of Terafab's theoretical output -- EchoStar (NASDAQ: SATS) currently functions as a proxy for SpaceX stock. EchoStar was previously a declining satellite cable and wireless business, but it sold SpaceX valuable spectrum last summer, partially in exchange for SpaceX stock. Today, that stake in SpaceX accounts for the majority of EchoStar's market value.
So the two ways to "invest" in Terafab are currently Tesla and EchoStar, with SpaceX another option when it goes public.
But the Terfab vision seems pretty far-fetched right now
It should be noted that Musk's vision seems a bit untethered from reality today, at least without significant technological breakthroughs.
Semiconductor manufacturing is perhaps the most challenging and capital-intensive endeavor on Earth, and it's becoming increasingly difficult as today's transistors shrink to atomic levels. Getting enough chip expertise to design, manufacture, test, and package a terawatt of compute at good yields would be a monumental undertaking. Merely assembling the chip design and manufacturing talent to accomplish this goal would be daunting, as Musk would have to poach the very best minds from all the other major fabs and chip designers.
But even beyond the talent challenges, the financial costs would also be enormous. For reference, TSMC had $117.4 billion in property, plant, and equipment at the end of 2025, and management forecasts capital spending of $52 billion to $56 billion in 2026 -- its highest-ever annual investment.
Theoretically, a Terafab producing 50 times the amount of chips TSMC makes would cost some $6 trillion in capital spending alone. Even assuming Musk finds some incredible way to produce chips twice as efficiently as the most efficient chip producer today, that would still be a $3 trillion investment. While SpaceX is rumored to be raising $75 billion in its upcoming IPO, that would account for only 2% or less of the required Terafab spending.
Needless to say, investors may want to exercise caution when factoring Terafab into these companies' valuations. There will be a lot of time and money spent between now and any sort of production or financial return.

Elon Musk's Terafab: What It Is, and the 2 Stocks That Give You Exposure Right Now

Surging Oil Prices Spark Market Jitters

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) on Wednesday closed up +0.54%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) closed up +0.66%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) closed up +0.67%. June E-mini S&P futures (ESM26) rose +0.56%, and June E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQM26) rose +0.68%.
Stocks settled higher on Wednesday as crude oil prices retreated, and bond yields fell after the Trump administration stepped up efforts to end the war with Iran. The US sent a 15-point peace proposal to Iran that covers a rollback of Iran’s nuclear program, including the resumption of monitoring by the International Atomic Energy Agency, limits on missiles, and access for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. In return, Iran would get relief from economic sanctions. WTI crude oil tumbled more than -2% on the news, and the 10-year T-note yield fell -4 bp to 4.32%.

However, stock index futures fell from their best levels on Wednesday, and crude oil prices rebounded from their lows after Iran’s semi-official news agency Fars said Iran rejects the US ceasefire proposal and said a truce and peace talks are not viable in current conditions. Iran wants a complete halt to “aggression and assassinations” by the enemy and the establishment of concrete mechanisms to ensure that the war is not reimposed on Iran. Also, Iran wants guaranteed, clearly defined payment for war damages and reparations, and international recognition and guarantees of Iran’s sovereign right to exercise authority over the Strait of Hormuz.
Despite the US peace proposal, Iran has kept up missile and drone attacks today on Israel and the Arab Gulf states. Saudi Arabia intercepted a drone in the east of the country, while a strike targeting Kuwait set ablaze a fuel tank at its main airport. There are concerns that the Iran war could escalate throughout the Middle East. Saudi Arabia agreed to give the US military access to King Fahd Air Base, and the UAE closed an Iranian-owned hospital and club. Iran’s Middle Eastern neighbors are growing frustrated with Iran, which has responded to US and Israeli attacks by hitting targets in several nearby nations.
US MBA mortgage applications fell -10.5% in the week ended March 20, with the mortgage purchase sub-index down -5.4% and the refinancing mortgage sub-index down -14.6%. The average 30-year fixed rate mortgage rose +13 bp to 6.43% from 6.30% the prior week.
The US Feb import index ex-petroleum rose +1.2% m/m, stronger than expectations of +0.4% m/m and the biggest increase in 4 years.
Crude oil prices (CLK26) remain high despite attempts to boost global supplies. The IEA on March 11 released 400 million barrels from emergency oil stockpiles and said the war against Iran is disrupting 7.5% of global oil supply, and the conflict will cut global oil supply by 8 million bpd this month. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz, through which about a fifth of the world’s oil and natural gas flows, has choked off oil and gas flows due to Iran’s attacks on shipping in the waterway and forced Gulf producers to cut output because they can’t export from the region. Iran is also seeking to control ship transit through the Strait of Hormuz, asking vessels to provide lists of crew and cargo, along with voyage details and bills of lading if they want to travel through the waterway. Goldman Sachs warns that crude prices could exceed the 2008 record high of close to $150 a barrel if flows through the Strait of Hormuz remain depressed through March.
The International Energy Agency said Monday that more than 40 energy sites across nine countries in the Middle East have been "severely or very severely" damaged, potentially prolonging disruptions to global supply chains once the war in Iran ends.
The markets are discounting a 4% chance for a +25 bp FOMC rate hike at the April 28-29 policy meeting.
Overseas stock markets settled higher on Wednesday. The Euro Stoxx 50 closed up +1.22%. China's Shanghai Composite closed up +1.30%. Japan's Nikkei Stock 225 closed up +2.87%.
Interest Rates
June 10-year T-notes (ZNM6) on Wednesday closed up by +15 ticks. The 10-year T-note yield fell -4.0 bp to 4.320%. June T-notes moved higher on Wednesday as reports of a US peace plan to end the war with Iran knocked crude oil prices down by more than -2%, reducing inflation expectations. The 10-year breakeven inflation rate dropped to a 2.5-week low of 2.299% on Wednesday.
T-notes fell back from their best levels on Wednesday after the US Feb import index ex-petroleum posted its largest increase in 4 years. Also, weak demand for the Treasury’s $70 billion auction of 5-year T-notes weighed on T-note prices as the auction had a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.29, below the 10-auction average of 2.36 and the weakest in 3.5 years.
European government bond yields moved lower on Wednesday. The 10-year German bund yield fell -7.0 bp to 2.958%. The 10-year UK gilt yield fell -11.9 bp to 4.839%.
The German Mar IFO business climate fell -2.0 to a 13-month low of 86.4.
ECB President Lagarde said, it is too early to determine the response to the war, and "we will not act before we have sufficient information on the size and persistence of the shock and its propagation." She added that the initial shock may be smaller than in 2022, given a more benign macroeconomic backdrop.
UK Feb CPI rose +3.0% y/y, right on expectations. Feb core CPI rose +3.2% y/y, stronger than expectations of +3.1% y/y.
Swaps are discounting a 62% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on April 30.
US Stock Movers
Space and satellite stocks surged on Wednesday as The Information reported that SpaceX aims to file a prospectus for an initial public offering as soon as this week. Globalstar (GSAT) closed up more than +11%, and AST SpaceMobile (ASTS) and Rocket Lab (RKLB) closed up more than +9%. Also, EchoStar (SATS) closed up more than +7%.
Chip makers moved higher on Wednesday, a supportive factor for the overall market. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) closed up more than +7%, and Intel (INTC) and Marvell Technology (MRVL) closed up more than +6%. Also, Nvidia (NVDA) closed up more than +2%, and Qualcomm (QCOM) and Texas Instruments (TXN) closed up more than +1%.
Memory and data storage stocks moved lower on Wednesday. Sandisk (SNDK) and Micron Technology (MU) closed down more than -3%. Also, Seagate Technology Holdings Plc (STX) and Lam Research (LRCX) closed down more than -2%, and Western Digital Corp (WDC) closed down more than -1%.
Braze Inc (BRZE) closed up more than +19% after forecasting 2027 revenue of $884 million to $889 million, well above the consensus of $858.3 million.
ARM Holdings Plc (ARM) closed up more than +16% to lead gainers in the Nasdaq 100 after saying it will start selling its own chips for the first time and expects to generate about $15 billion annually within five years.
Chewy (CHWY) closed up more than +13% after forecasting 2027 net sales of $13.60 billion to $13.75 billion, stronger than the consensus of $13.59 billion.
Terns Pharmaceuticals (TERN) closed up more than +5% after Meck & Co agreed to buy the company for about $6.7 billion, or $53 per share in cash.

Noteworthy Wednesday Option Activity: ONEW, SATS, FLY

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) today is up +0.83%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) is up +0.86%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) is up +1.06%. June E-mini S&P futures (ESM26) are up +0.81%, and June E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQM26) are up +1.07%.
Stocks are climbing today as crude oil prices plunged, and bond yields fell after the Trump administration stepped up efforts to end the war with Iran. The US sent a 15-point peace proposal to Iran that covers a rollback of Iran’s nuclear program, including the resumption of monitoring by the International Atomic Energy Agency, limits on missiles, and access for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. In return, Iran would get relief from economic sanctions. WTI crude oil tumbled more than -4% on the news, and the 10-year T-note yield is down -4 bp to 4.32%.

However, stock index futures fell from their best levels, and crude oil prices rebounded from their lows today after Iran’s semi-official news agency Fars said Iran rejects the US ceasefire proposal and said a truce and peace talks are not viable in current conditions. Iran wants a complete halt to “aggression and assassinations” by the enemy and the establishment of concrete mechanisms to ensure that the war is not reimposed on Iran. Also, Iran wants guaranteed, clearly defined payment for war damages and reparations, and international recognition and guarantees of Iran’s sovereign right to exercise authority over the Strait of Hormuz.
Despite the US peace proposal, Iran has kept up missile and drone attacks today on Israel and the Arab Gulf states. Saudi Arabia intercepted a drone in the east of the country, while a strike targeting Kuwait set ablaze a fuel tank at its main airport. There are concerns that the Iran war could escalate throughout the Middle East. Saudi Arabia agreed to give the US military access to King Fahd Air Base, and the UAE closed an Iranian-owned hospital and club. Iran’s Middle Eastern neighbors are growing frustrated with Iran, which has responded to US and Israeli attacks by hitting targets in several nearby nations.
US MBA mortgage applications fell -10.5% in the week ended March 20, with the mortgage purchase sub-index down -5.4% and the refinancing mortgage sub-index down -14.6%. The average 30-year fixed rate mortgage rose +13 bp to 6.43% from 6.30% the prior week.
The US Feb import index ex-petroleum rose +1.2% m/m, stronger than expectations of +0.4% m/m and the biggest increase in 4 years.
Crude oil prices (CLK26) remain high despite attempts to boost global supplies. The IEA on March 11 released 400 million barrels from emergency oil stockpiles and said the war against Iran is disrupting 7.5% of global oil supply, and the conflict will cut global oil supply by 8 million bpd this month. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz, through which about a fifth of the world’s oil and natural gas flows, has choked off oil and gas flows due to Iran’s attacks on shipping in the waterway and forced Gulf producers to cut output because they can’t export from the region. Iran is also seeking to control ship transit through the Strait of Hormuz, asking vessels to provide lists of crew and cargo, along with voyage details and bills of lading if they want to travel through the waterway. Goldman Sachs warns that crude prices could exceed the 2008 record high of close to $150 a barrel if flows through the Strait of Hormuz remain depressed through March.
The International Energy Agency said Monday that more than 40 energy sites across nine countries in the Middle East have been "severely or very severely" damaged, potentially prolonging disruptions to global supply chains once the war in Iran ends.
The markets are discounting a 4% chance for a +25 bp FOMC rate hike at the April 28-29 policy meeting.
Overseas stock markets are higher today. The Euro Stoxx 50 is up +1.33%. China's Shanghai Composite closed up +1.30%. Japan's Nikkei Stock 225 closed up +2.87%.
Interest Rates
June 10-year T-notes (ZNM6) today are up by +15 ticks. The 10-year T-note yield is down -4.2 bp to 4.318%. June T-notes are moving higher today as reports of a US peace plan to end the war with Iran knocked crude oil prices down by more than -4%, reducing inflation expectations. The 10-year breakeven inflation rate dropped to a 2.5-week low of 2.301% today.
T-notes fell back from their best levels today after the US Feb import index ex-petroleum posted its largest increase in 4 years. Supply pressures are also weighing on T-notes, as the Treasury will auction $28 billion in 2-year floating-rate notes and $70 billion in 5-year T-notes later today.
European government bond yields are moving lower today. The 10-year German bund yield is down -6.8 bp to 2.959%. The 10-year UK gilt yield is down -12.8 bp to 4.830%.
The German Mar IFO business climate fell -2.0 to a 13-month low of 86.4.
ECB President Lagarde said, it is too early to determine the response to the war, and "we will not act before we have sufficient information on the size and persistence of the shock and its propagation." She added that the initial shock may be smaller than in 2022, given a more benign macroeconomic backdrop.
UK Feb CPI rose +3.0% y/y, right on expectations. Feb core CPI rose +3.2% y/y, stronger than expectations of +3.1% y/y.
Swaps are discounting a 60% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on April 30.
US Stock Movers
Space and satellite stocks are surging today as the Information reported that SpaceX aims to file a prospectus for an initial public offering as soon as this week. Globalstar (GSAT) is up more than +19%, and AST SpaceMobile (ASTS) and Rocket Lab (RKLB) are up more than +12%. Also, EchoStar (SATS) is up more than +10% to lead gainers in the S&P 500.
Chip makers are moving higher today, a supportive factor for the overall market. Intel (INTC) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) are up more than +7%, and Marvell Technology (MRVL) is up more than +5%. Also, Nvidia (NVDA) is up more than +3% to lead gainers in the Dow Jones Industrials, and Microchip Technology (MCHP) and Qualcomm (QCOM) are up more than +2%. In addition, NXP Semiconductors NV (NXPI) and Texas Instruments (TXN) are up more than +1%.
Airline stocks and cruise line operators are climbing today, as WTI crude is down more than -4%, lowering fuel costs and boosting profit expectations. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) and Royal Caribbean Cruises (RCL) are up more than +3%. Also, Alaska Air Group (ALK), United Airlines Holdings (UAL), American Airlines Group (AAL), Delta Air Lines (DAL), and Carnival (CCL) are up more than +2%. In addition, Southwest Airlines (LUV) is up more than +1%.
Cryptocurrency-exposed stocks are moving higher today, with Bitcoin (^BTCUSD) up more than +1%. Strategy (MSTR) and Riot Platforms (RIOT) are up more than +3%, and Coinbase Global (COIN) is up more than +2%. Also, MARA Holdings (MARA) is up more than +1%, and Galaxy Digital Holdings (GLXY) is up +0.89%.
Memory and data storage stocks are sliding today. Sandisk (SNDK) is down more than -5%, and Micron Technology (MU) is down more than -4% to lead losers in the Nasdaq 100. Also, Seagate Technology Holdings Plc (STX) is down more than -3%, Western Digital Corp (WDC) is down more than -2%, and Lam Research (LRCX) is down more than -1%.
ARM Holdings Plc (ARM) is up more than +18% to lead gainers in the Nasdaq 100 after saying it will start selling its own chips for the first time and expects to generate about $15 billion annually within five years.
Braze Inc (BRZE) is up more than +18% after forecasting 2027 revenue of $884 million to $889 million, well above the consensus of $858.3 million.
Chewy (CHWY) is up more than +12% after forecasting 2027 net sales of $13.60 billion to $13.75 billion, stronger than the consensus of $13.59 billion.
Terns Pharmaceuticals (TERN) is up more than +5% after Meck & Co agreed to buy the company for about $6.7 billion, or $53 per share in cash.
General Motors (GM) is up more than +1% after Wolfe Research upgraded the stock to outperform from peer perform with a price target of $96.

Stocks Climb on Hopes of US-Iran Diplomacy

Satellogic Inc. SATL shares rallied 8.5% in the last trading session to close at $5.38. This move can be attributable to notable volume with a higher number of shares being traded than in a typical session. This compares to the stock's 54.5% gain over the past four weeks.
The increase in share price follows Satelllogic’s recent subcontract with Defense Technologies (IDT) to further support the U.S. Office of Naval Research (ONR) amid accelerating demand for satellite services globally.
This new agreement advances the Slingshot program to phases II (Summer 2026) and III (2027) post the completion of phase I. Slingshot is an R&D program in association with commercial partner GRVTY and is aimed at boosting maritime intelligence and low-latency orbital processing.
Last week, SATL reported fourth-quarter and full-year 2025 results. Revenues for the quarter jumped 94% to $6.2 million, while 2025 revenues increased 38% to $17.7 million. Strength in imagery ordered by current and new Data & Analytics clients remains the primary catalyst.
As of Dec 31, 2025, remaining performance obligations were $65.1 million. Out of these, $28.6 million is expected to be recognized as revenue within the first year.
Satellogic is a vertically integrated geospatial analytics company engaged in the construction of a scalable and fully automated Earth Observation platform to render satellite imagery cost-effective and easily accessible.
This company is expected to post quarterly loss of $0.05 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +68.8%. Revenues are expected to be $6.44 million, up 90% from the year-ago quarter.
Earnings and revenue growth expectations certainly give a good sense of the potential strength in a stock, but empirical research shows that trends in earnings estimate revisions are strongly correlated with near-term stock price movements.

SATELLOGIC INC (SATL) Surges 8.5%: Is This an Indication of Further Gains?

By one estimate, the space industry may nearly triple into a $1.8 trillion addressable market by 2035.
Although retail investors' favorite satellite-based cellular broadband services provider has well-defined competitive edges, it's likely priced for perfection.
Meanwhile, another high-flying space stock may be weighed down by competitive pressures and ongoing cash burn.
Although artificial intelligence has been capturing the attention and capital of investors for years, space may mark the next game-changing opportunity. According to an April 2024 report from McKinsey, the space economy is expected to nearly triple in value from $630 billion in 2023 to an estimated $1.8 trillion by 2035 -- and investors are taking notice.
Two of Wall Street's most popular stocks among retail investors are space stocks. Shares of AST SpaceMobile (NASDAQ: ASTS) and Intuitive Machines (NASDAQ: LUNR) have soared by 3,070% and 256%, respectively, over the trailing two years.

But where there's a big-dollar opportunity, there are bound to be skeptics. Based on the low-water price targets of select Wall Street analysts, shares of these retail-favorite space stocks can plummet by up to 56% in 2026.
AST SpaceMobile: Implied downside of 56%
While some analysts see satellite-based cellular broadband services provider AST SpaceMobile surging beyond $130 per share, analyst Andres Coello of Scotiabank recently lowered his firm's price target on the company to just $41.20. If accurate, Coello's price target would imply a 56% decline from where shares ended on March 19.
On the one hand, AST brings a competitive edge to the table. The company's BlueBird satellites can work with existing smartphone technology, which means no need for specialized phones. Furthermore, AST has partnered with over 50 mobile network operators globally, meaning it'll work with, not compete against, them.
Nevertheless, cellular broadband is a highly competitive industry. For instance, SpaceX-owned Starlink announced a $17 billion acquisition of spectrum from EchoStar in September.
AST SpaceMobile's premium valuation also depends on the company launching new satellites in a timely and cost-effective manner. Inflationary pressures have previously pushed up cost estimates for its satellites, and launch dates have already been pushed back. In many ways, AST SpaceMobile appears priced for perfection, which is the basis of Coello's low-water price target on the stock.
Intuitive Machines: Implied downside of 50%
The other highly popular space stock whose shares may come crashing back to Earth is lunar space infrastructure and technology company Intuitive Machines. Bank of America Securities analyst Ronald Epstein expects shares to fall to $9.50, representing a 50% decline.
Investor interest in the manufacturer of the Nova-C lunar lander really began to manifest in September 2024. On Sept. 17, 2024, it was awarded a Near Space Network contract for communication and navigation services for NASA missions. It's a base five-year deal with an option for an additional five years, potentially worth up to $4.82 billion.
Despite government contract revenue padding Intuitive Machines' pocketbooks, there are reasons to be skeptical.
For one, it's still an early stage company that lost money and burned through some of its cash on hand last year. Its full-year net loss totaled $83.3 million, with $14.3 million in net cash used in operating activities. Early stage companies often issue stock and dilute their shareholders to raise cash, which is what Intuitive Machines has done.
The other concern is that its government contract-focused operating model lacks pricing power. It's competing against brand-name defense companies with deep pockets, and the federal government isn't known for overbidding on space contracts. Like AST SpaceMobile, Intuitive Machines may be priced without room for error.
