EchoStar Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, provides networking technologies and services worldwide. The company operates in four segments: Pay-TV, Retail Wireless, 5G Network Deployment, Broadband and Satellite Services. The Pay-TV segment offers a direct broadcast and fixed satellite services; designs, develops, and distributes receiver system; and provides digital broadcast operations, including satellite uplinking/downlinking, transmission and, other services to third-party pay-TV providers; and multichannel, live-linear and on-demand streaming over-the-top internet-based domestic, international, Latino, and Freestream video programming services under the DISH and SLING brand names. The Retail Wireless segment provides prepaid and postpaid wireless services under the Boost Mobile, Boost postpaid, and Gen Mobile brands, as well various wireless devices. The Network Deployment segment deploys a facilities-based 5G broadband network and commercializes deployment of 5G VoNR. The Broadband and Satellite Services offers broadband services to consumer customers, which include home, and small to medium-sized businesses; and satellite and multi-transport technologies, and managed network services to telecommunications providers, aeronautical service providers, civilian and defense government entities, and other enterprise customers. EchoStar Corporation was incorporated in 2007 and is headquartered in Englewood, Colorado.

It may be hard for retail investors to participate in the offering prior to its listing, but there are three widely available stocks that give indirect exposure.
After years of anticipation, privately held SpaceX finally has plans to go public. The Elon Musk-backed space exploration company filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission last month, and investors expect it to launch its initial public offering (IPO) in early June. Although SpaceX is reportedly allocating a large portion of the offering to retail investors, the opportunity for everyday investors to add exposure already exists.
Here are three publicly traded companies that already own -- or are set to own -- SpaceX stock: Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL), Bank of America (NYSE: BAC), and EchoStar(NASDAQ: SATS).

Alphabet benefits from SpaceX in more ways than one
Google and YouTube parent Alphabet first invested in SpaceX in 2015, investing $900 million in exchange for a 7% stake. It's since been reported that Alphabet owned 6% of SpaceX at the end of last year.
That's not all. The tech giant's close ties with the company could benefit it in more ways than one. Alongside having direct equity in SpaceX, Alphabet's Google Cloud unit has formed an infrastructure partnership with SpaceX's Starlink satellite communications unit.
Bank of America bought in years ago
In 2018, BofA participated in a SpaceX equity funding round, investing $250 million. At the time, SpaceX had a valuation of around $30 billion. That would have given it less than 1% of SpaceX at the time.
EchoStar is set to get SpaceX shares
EchoStar's best-known asset is its satellite television business, Dish Network. However, it and SpaceX have a deal that, if given regulatory approval, will sell spectrum to SpaceX and include shares of SpaceX going to EchoStar. EchoStar could end up with a 2.8% stake. If the deal is approved and SpaceX has a $2 trillion valuation, EchoStar's position would be worth around $56 billion.
EchoStar shares have rallied over fivefold in the past year. Investors are already aware of its space stock status. However, given its current market cap of $34 billion, compared to the potential value of its potential SpaceX stake, this satellite stock could have more room to run after the IPO.

You would have to go back quite some time to find an initial public offering (IPO) as anticipated as SpaceX's. The aerospace company is looking to IPO this summer with around a $1.75 trillion valuation (the highest in IPO history). How much it ultimately fetches will depend on the market, but the lead-up has sparked significant investor interest.
Unless you're an institution or "accredited investor," you can't buy shares of SpaceX on the stock market before its IPO. However, there are a few different ways to get exposure to it right now, before its IPO.

Invest in a company with a stake in SpaceX
The best way for the average investor to get exposure to SpaceX before its IPO is to invest in a company that owns shares in it. Google parent Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG)(NASDAQ: GOOGL) is a good option because it reportedly owned 6.11% of SpaceX at the end of 2025.
In January 2015, Alphabet invested $900 million in SpaceX as part of a $1 billion package with Fidelity. At the time, SpaceX was valued at around $12 billion, and Alphabet's initial stake was around 7%. Its stake has since been diluted -- especially after SpaceX and xAI merged in February -- but 6% is still a sizable holding.
There are plenty of reasons to invest in Alphabet aside from its stake in SpaceX, but knowing that Alphabet's investment could be worth around $105 billion if SpaceX fetches its record-breaking valuation is encouraging at a time when Alphabet is increasing its spending to keep up in the AI arms race.
EchoStar (NASDAQ: SATS) is a key partner of SpaceX that is planning to sell the company spectrum licenses that provide crucial frequencies that SpaceX's Starlink relies on.
As part of the agreement -- which is awaiting regulatory approval -- EchoStar will gain millions of SpaceX shares. The EchoStar/SpaceX deal is expected to be approved in the first half of this year. The market is optimistic that it will go through. In the past 12 months, EchoStar's stock is up 420% (as of April 24), largely because of its relationship with SpaceX.
There are funds that contain SpaceX shares
No fund has a higher allocation to SpaceX than the Baron Partners Fund (NASDAQMUTFUND: BPTRX). As of March 31, 33% of the mutual fund was in SpaceX. Tesla accounts for 20%. The fund has a minimum initial investment. It's either $2,000 or $500 if you set up automatic investments.
Ark Venture Fund (NASDAQMUTFUND: ARKVX) has 17% of its holdings in SpaceX. It's an "actively managed closed-end interval fund that seeks long-term growth of capital by investing both private and public equities securities of companies that are relevant to the Fund’s investment theme of disruptive innovation." It has a $500 minimum initial investment, but one key thing to note is that there are specific windows every quarter where the fund repurchases up to 5% of its outstanding shares. If you miss that window, you'll need to wait until the next one to sell shares.
Destiny Tech100 (NYSE: DXYZ) is 32 companies into its mission of having a portfolio of "100 of the top venture-backed private tech companies." SpaceX is one of those companies, accounting for 16% of the fund. This is a closed-end management investment company. As with all investments, potential investors will need to dig into fees and other information before making a decision.
Should you wait until SpaceX's IPO before investing?
If you want to invest in SpaceX as directly as possible, then waiting until its IPO is the route to take. However, if you're looking to gain exposure to SpaceX without waiting to buy its shares on the market, going through Alphabet is likely the most direct (and beneficial) route among the options above.
SpaceX's stock will inevitably be volatile in the time after its IPO, especially with the high valuation it's aiming for. By investing in Alphabet, you get a trifecta: SpaceX exposure, shares of one of the best tech companies in the world, and a shield from the volatility or potential struggles of SpaceX's stock early on.
The funds are good options if you want exposure, but the mutual funds aren't as straightforward to buy as your typical exchange-traded fund. Realistically, though, most investors are better off waiting until SpaceX's IPO to invest in the company directly.

SoFi Technologies (NASDAQ: SOFI) offers retail investors the opportunity to invest in a private equity fund called the Cosmos Fund, with sole exposure to SpaceX, operated by Templum. SoFi notes this is only open to accredited investors.
Cathie Wood's Ark Venture Fund (NASDAQMUTFUND: ARKVX), an exchange-traded fund (ETF) that invests in disruptive private companies, has a position in SpaceX right now. In fact, it's the fund's largest position, accounting for 17% of the total.
The ERShares Private-Public Crossover ETF (NASDAQ: XOVR) is another ETF that's heavily invested in SpaceX, which accounts for 27% of its portfolio. It invests in both public and private companies.
Destiny Tech 100 (NYSE: DXYZ) is an investment management company that trades on the New York Stock Exchange and functions somewhat like an ETF. It invests in private companies, and SpaceX is also its largest position, at 16.2% of the total.
You can also buy into SpaceX by buying into companies that have invested in it or plan to have shares. Examples include Alphabet, which owns more than 6% of the company according to recent filings, and EchoStar, which has a pending deal that would get it SpaceX shares if approved by regulators.

Alphabet first invested $900 million in SpaceX in 2015, giving it around a 7% stake in SpaceX when it was valued at around $12 billion. Alphabet's stake has been diluted slightly over the years, but it's still estimated to be around 5%. That winds up being a hefty $100 billion stake in the company if SpaceX ends up with a $2 trillion valuation.
EchoStar is a satellite communication company selling spectrum licenses to SpaceX and acquiring shares in the process, if the sale is approved by regulators. Its potential stake in SpaceX is a major reason its stock has risen by nearly 476% over the past 12 months (as of April 22).
In either case, if SpaceX fetches the valuation it's aiming for, both companies could see their on-paper gains skyrocket. The major difference, though, is that EchoStar's success is much more closely tied to SpaceX's because many investors are drawn to the company simply for its relationship with SpaceX, and they need to wait for the deal with SpaceX to be approved. For Alphabet, its SpaceX interest is more of a nice-to-have bonus.
