Not your traditional auto company
As far as the automotive industry goes, Ferrari is its own animal. It's widely considered a top automotive stock because it operates more closely to a high-end luxury brand rather than a traditional automotive company. Let's look at three key advantages Ferrari has that all work hand in hand to help investors grow wealth consistently over time.
First up is Ferrari's exclusivity and scarcity. Traditional mainstream automakers aim to crank out high volume to build scale and lower costs, with the ultimate goal of generating a decent margin. Ferrari works far differently and intentionally limits production of vehicles and order books to ensure demand always exceeds supply. While Ferrari limits the supply of its ultra-luxury vehicles, it consistently increases the supply of its vehicles to generate growth over time. Ferrari's exclusivity and scarcity go hand in hand with the next advantage the automaker boasts: pricing power.
Unlike most automakers, Ferrari has the ability to raise prices on its vehicles without hindering demand for a couple of reasons. One reason is that its customer base is highly affluent, and to some, pricing simply doesn't matter. Another reason is customer loyalty -- remember that a big chunk of Ferrari sales go to existing customers. One example of Ferrari's pricing power and exclusivity together can be found with the F80 supercar. Ferrari launches special top-of-the-range supercars about once a decade, taking some technologies from its racing research and development. The F80 price tag will check in at roughly $3.9 million and quickly sold out of a very limited supply of 799 units.
We've covered how Ferrari's exclusivity and scarcity can help drive pricing power, but perhaps most impressive is how all the automaker's advantages combine to drive margins higher. The graph below shows that not only are Ferrari's margins in a different world than competitors', but they are also still consistently moving higher.
What it all means
Ferrari will not make investors rich overnight, but the company's business is about as flawless as it gets in the automotive industry or otherwise. Ferrari has made many investors winners over the past decade as its gains roughly tripled the S&P 500.
The Italian automaker rarely trades at a discount, and even after a 30% decline over the past six months -- Ferrari has a habit of lowballing long-term guidance, which the market didn't take well -- it's still trading at a price-to-earnings ratio of 32 times. Ferrari could make investors rich slowly, and this is a fair price to own arguably the best auto stock out there.

The Fastest Stock That Could Unlock Investor Riches ... Slowly

Garden-variety recessions, while painful for the middle class, typically don't dent affluent folks' desire for high-end items, travel, and the like.
Given that the wealthy are, well, wealthy and that the U.S. economy is growing, statistically speaking, Ferrari (NYSE: RACE) should be a prime example of a consumer cyclical winner. Yet shares of the Italian sports car manufacturer are off 21% over the past year. That sounds even worse, given that a bear market is defined as a decline of 20% from a stock's most recent high.

Bear markets are unsettling, but those conditions can also nurture opportunity. Perhaps Ferrari management concurs, as the company has repurchased over $117 million of its shares since the start of this year. That's one sign that the opportunity may be knocking with this stock, and there are more to evaluate.
Ferrari stock can accelerate
While this is widely discussed with Ferrari, investors shouldn't discount the aura of exclusivity and the country club vibe, which are integral to the investment thesis. Average selling prices on new Ferraris range from $250,000 to $700,000-plus. In many parts of the U.S., those are home values.
That's by design. Ferrari isn't Ford Motor Company or Tesla. It's not attempting to sell large numbers of automobiles. In fact, in its roughly 11 years as a publicly traded company, Ferrari's unit sales per model year have been relatively steady at around 1,000. From another perspective, the company is engaging in population containment. More Ferraris on the road diminishes the air of exclusivity, potentially damaging the fundamental case for the stock.
Is it arguably tacky that buyers can access select Ferrari models only through invitation? Perhaps, but between that and the company's pricing power and its quality-over-quantity business model, it's clear that management is defending Ferrari's brand value. That's something for long-term investors considering this stock to chew on.
Ferrari does have some commonalities with "ordinary" automakers. Namely, it has to keep its product lineup fresh. While its supercar cycle is a new model every three or four years, it also introduces more "attainable" models annually, which could be near-term catalysts for the stock. Emphasis on "near-term" because the convertible Amalfi Spider is expected to launch this month, and Luce, the manufacturer's first fully electric vehicle, could come to market this year.
Ferrari has a fortress
Investors who know history know there have been periods when legacy automakers, including the domestic giants, have tested shareholders' (and taxpayers') patience. Much of that negativity was attributable to flimsy financials.
That's not a cause for concern with Ferrari. The company has one of the strongest balance sheets in the industry, and it has proven adept at generating cash flow.
Ferrari also puts that cash to good use. It pays a dividend, and the 35% payout ratio implies the company isn't stretched thin by the payout. Something else investors can take to the bank is the automaker's commitment to trimming its share count each year.

1 Growth Stock Down 21% to Buy Right Now

Ferrari is a steady-growing and extremely profitable auto manufacturer.
Taiwan Semiconductor is growing fast and is a pick-and-shovel play for the entire tech industry.
BWX Technologies is a profitable and growing engineering company emerging as a leader in the SMR space.
Nobody, not even the greatest investors in history, can predict the future. All anyone can do is look at where a stock has been and infer where it's headed.
I can't tell you which stocks will 10X in the next 10 years but I can tell you about three great stocks that have the potential to. Each one has growing revenue, very high profitability, and smart management of its balance sheet.

And even if one or all of these stocks don't 10X by 2036, I don't think you'll be disappointed looking back at your return on them in 10 years' time.
1. Let's go racing
Up first is one that might surprise you: Ferrari (NYSE: RACE).
The luxury car manufacturer known for building some of the most beautiful speed machines to grace the roads for the past several decades is also one of the most profitable companies in the auto industry.
It's up 81% over the past five years. And despite an 18% dip in the last year, Ferrari is still going strong based on its latest results and I expect further growth in the future.
For the whole of 2025, Ferrari brought in net revenue of 7.1 billion euros, up 7% year over year. Operating profit for the year totaled 2.1 billion euros, up 12% over 2024 and good for an operating margin of 29.5%.
That's far and away the best profit margin in the auto industry. Toyota, with the next highest profit margin in the industry, has an operating margin of 8.5% right now. General Motors is sitting at 1.57% and Volkswagen is at 4.62%.
The company's net profit came in at 1.6 billion euros for 2025, up 5% over 2024 and its diluted earnings per share (EPS) grew 6%. And in an industry that typically runs a high debt load, Ferrari has a manageable net debt position of 1.4 billion euros and a debt to equity ratio of 0.74. For comparison, Volkswagen carries a debt to equity ratio of 0.96 and General Motors is sitting at 2.08.
Ferrari's dip over the past few months looks far more like a "buy-the-dip" opportunity than the beginning of its decline. It's definitely worth a look.
2. The Taiwanese profit machine
Next is Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (NYSE: TSM), which is the dominant player in the pure foundry semiconductor market with 72% market share and growing.
The company manufactures chips designed by many of the big players in the tech hardware industry like Nvidia, which has its Blackwell chips produced at Taiwan Semiconductor's factory in Arizona.
And like Ferrari, Taiwan Semiconductor's results speak for themselves. Only they speak even louder than Ferrari's.
Per Taiwan Semiconductor's full-year 2025 results, the company brought in net revenue of $122.4 billion, up 35.9% over 2024. It grew its gross profit margin and operating margin 3.8 percentage points and 5.1 percentage points over 2024 to 59.9% and 50.8% respectively. And Taiwan Semiconductor grew its diluted EPS 46.4% over 2024.
On the balance sheet side of the equation, Taiwan Semiconductor grew its operating cash flow 24.6%, its free cash flow 15.2%, and its cash and marketable securities reserve by 26.7%.
The only worrying metric was that its capital expenditures (capex) were up 33% over 2024, but that was still outpaced by its revenue growth. So ultimately, I don't think it's too concerning.
Just about every piece of technology we use today requires semiconductors, and artificial intelligence (AI) is especially hungry for them. Taiwan Semiconductor's high-end chips in particular have cornered the market.
That makes this one a pick-and-shovel play for not only AI but the entire tech industry. Give it a look if you're looking for a one-ticker industrywide play.
3. Chain reaction
Finally, I want to talk about BWX Technologies (NYSE: BWXT), a nuclear engineering company set to capitalize on the small modular reactor (SMR) trend. SMR are miniaturized nuclear reactors that could theoretically be used to power remote installations and data centers among other things.
But BWX has a long history of building pint-sized nuclear technology. Since it helped pioneer the reactor aboard the USS Nautilus, the world's first nuclear-powered submarine, BWX has produced over 400 naval nuclear reactors.
And while many of its competitors in the SMR space are on shoestring budgets, BWX bucks that trend.
For the whole of 2025, the company brought in $3.19 billion, up 18% over 2024. Its net income margin hit 15% and it grew its EPS 20% over 2024. BWX also saw its operating cash flow grow 17%.
BWX is a company on the rise in a nuclear industry experiencing a renaissance thanks to renewed interest both from the government and from big tech companies looking to meet the power needs of their AI data center projects. And with BWX's financial position as strong as it is, I think it's worth a look right now.

Across the Atlantic Ocean, in Maranello, Italy, there's a luxury auto manufacturer that's a favorite among racing enthusiasts. I'm talking about Ferrari (NYSE: RACE). Its stock has a stellar long-term performance, climbing 860% in the past 10 years (as of Feb. 24).

In the battle of Ford vs. Ferrari, which is the better investment opportunity right now?
Ford shares are dirt cheap, an appealing setup for bargain hunters
Ford might be on the radar of the value investing community since the stock is trading in bargain territory. Investors can scoop up shares at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 9. Those who bet on multiple expansion as part of their strategy will be intrigued.
A cheap valuation means the dividend yield of 4.23% is hefty. That's higher than the 4.04% yield on 10-year Treasuries. That can draw income investors.
Ford had an eventful 2025, as it dealt with the impacts of tariffs adding to its already massive expenses. That doesn't help boost the bottom line, which is already low. Ford's operating margin averaged just 3% in the past five years.
The business is also shifting gears with its Model e electric vehicle (EV) division. After reporting a huge $19.5 billion special charge in the fourth quarter, the focus now turns to hybrid models and lower-cost EVs.
There are some reasons to be optimistic. For one, Ford continues to sell the most popular vehicle lineup in America with its F-Series trucks. It's a leader in this segment of the market.
Ford's pro division is also finding success, registering a double-digit operating margin in 2025. "Pro continues to evolve its business by diversifying revenue streams and building out its high margin service infrastructure," CFO Sherry House said on the Q4 2025 earnings call.
Ferrari's impressive competitive position supports financial success
Ferrari operates with a completely different strategy. The primary objective is not to sell as many vehicles as possible. Instead, the company's goal is to produce and deliver less volume than the market wants. Consequently, this creates an element of scarcity, ensuring that demand always remains robust.
"Build one less car than the market demand," founder Enzo Ferrari is known to have said. That philosophy has led to remarkable success.
Investors can view Ferrari as a luxury brand more than a traditional car manufacturer. Pricing power is one reason why. Certain models can go for seven-figure sums, but they still register incredible demand with order books filling up years in advance. Consumers buy these machines not necessarily for their utility, but as a hobby, status symbol, or collector's item.
Financial performance also stands out in the auto industry. Ferrari's revenue trends aren't nearly as cyclical, as its target customer group includes the wealthiest swath of the population. Sales increased at a compound annual rate of 9.6% between 2015 and 2025, demonstrating durable gains. Wall Street expects the top line to increase at a yearly clip of 6.5% over the next three years.
The company's profitability also deserves some attention. Ferrari posted an impressive operating margin of 29.5% last year. This is a clear sign of a lucrative business model.
Running laps around the competition
Between Ford and Ferrari, the winner is clear. Ferrari is the better stock to buy.
In my view, Ford is cheap for a reason, due to its low growth and weak profits. And in the past decade, its shares have generated a total return of 86%. That comes up significantly short of the S&P 500 index, underperformance that I fully expect to continue over the next 10 years and beyond.
Ferrari's brand has stood the test of time. This intangible asset will keep driving steadily rising revenue and earnings far into the future. And with the stock trading 28% below its peak, now is a great time to invest.

Better Industrial Stock: Ford vs. Ferrari

Detroit automakers, commonly thought of as Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F), General Motors (NYSE: GM), and Stellantis (NYSE: STLA) thanks to its Chrysler heritage, have seen wildly different stock prices recently. Over the past three years GM nearly doubled its stock price, Ford posted a modest 11% gain, and Stellantis shed more than half its value. For investors considering buying into a potential Stellantis turnaround, and rebound in stock price, there's a little bad news to digest first.
Goodbye, dividend
Recent announcements from automakers regarding electric vehicle (EV) pullbacks have been extremely painful, financially speaking, and emphasize how expensive it can be when decision makers get things wrong or markets develop much more slowly than anticipated, as was the case with the U.S. EV industry.

Stellantis announced $25.9 billion in one-time charges, driven largely by $20 billion for EVs and $4.1 billion for warranty costs. The one-time charge even managed to top rival Ford, which recently announced its own $19.5 billion charge to pivot its strategy away from EVs and toward hybrids and extended range vehicles.
While write-downs are generally noncash, reflecting money already spent, Stellantis' charge includes $7.7 billion cash out the door going forward. That pressure on cash in the near term, along with the company's operating profit swinging to a second-half 2025 loss of $1.6 billion, caused Stellantis to suspend its 2026 dividend.
Rebound coming?
Stellantis has a massive turnaround on its hands under new CEO Antonio Filosa. Filosa will have to navigate tariffs and trade policy changes, decide which of Stellantis' many brands need significant investment, repair relations with its dealership network and suppliers, and dial back its EV plans.
That said, 2026 is expected to be a better year for investors. Stellantis is projected to generate an operating profit of roughly $7 billion in 2026, compared to a more modest $3 billion in 2025. The redesigned Jeep Cherokee and freshened Grand Wagoneer hitting dealerships, with more marketing dollars being spent, have the automaker aiming for a U.S. retail sales gain of 25% in 2026, which would reverse seven consecutive years of U.S. sales declines.
Investors should also note that Moody's Ratings downgraded Stellantis' credit rating citing that profitability would take longer than expected due to the costs of dialing down its EV plans. Moody's moved Stellantis down one notch to Baa3, which is the lowest level indicating an investment grade rating. Essentially, the downgrade is a signal of financial strain, increased risk, and uncertainty, which generally equates to higher costs for Stellantis to borrow and fund growth or its turnaround.
Investors considering scooping up shares of Stellantis after its rapid plunge, hoping for a stock price rebound during a turnaround, should probably pump the brakes. Stellantis has a number of difficult challenges to overcome, and entire brands to rebuild, that will require significant time. Investors interested in the automotive industry would be wise to look into thriving automakers such as Ferrari and General Motors.

Scarcity is a winning strategy
Ferrari (NYSE: RACE) is unique in the industry because it doesn't try to sell as many cars as possible. Instead, management is intensely focused on maintaining brand strength, which exudes luxury, status, and scarcity.
This winning strategy results in robust pricing power, with some models, like the F80, completely reserved even though they sell for seven-figure sums. It's nice to see that in the past five years, Ferrari has reported a fantastic average quarterly operating margin of 26.9%, which is the envy of its peers.
Shares are off their peak
I believe investors overreacted after the business revealed its 2030 outlook, as it implied slowing revenue growth. It's likely Ferrari was being conservative with its forecast.
The shares are now trading 34% below their all-time record (as of Jan. 29). However, it's time for investors to get in the driver's seat and add the business to their portfolios. The current price-to-earnings ratio of 34.3 is significantly cheaper than the trailing five-year average.
