QUALCOMM Incorporated engages in the development and commercialization of foundational technologies for the wireless industry worldwide. It operates through three segments: Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT); Qualcomm Technology Licensing (QTL); and Qualcomm Strategic Initiatives (QSI). The QCT segment develops and supplies integrated circuits and system software based on 3G/4G/5G and other technologies for use in wireless voice and data communications, networking, computing, multimedia, and position location products. The QTL segment grants licenses or provides rights to use portions of its intellectual property portfolio, which include various patent rights useful in the manufacture and sale of wireless products comprising products implementing CDMA2000, WCDMA, LTE and/or OFDMA-based 5G standards and their derivatives. The QSI segment invests in early-stage companies in various industries, including 5G, artificial intelligence, automotive, consumer, enterprise, cloud, IoT, and extended reality, and investments, including non-marketable equity securities and, to a lesser extent, marketable equity securities, and convertible debt instruments. It also provides development, and other services and related products to the United States government agencies and their contractors. The company was incorporated in 1985 and is headquartered in San Diego, California.

The June 5-10 year inflation expectations rate eased to +3.4% from +3.9% in May, weaker than expectations of +3.8%.
The markets are discounting a 4% chance of a +25 bp rate hike at the next FOMC meeting on June 16-17.
Overseas stock markets closed higher. The Euro Stoxx 50 rose +2.16%. China's Shanghai Composite closed up +1.12%. Japan’s Nikkei-225 Stock Average closed up +2.81%.
Interest Rates
September 10-year T-notes (ZNU6) fell -5 ticks, and the 10-year T-note yield rose +2.2 bp to 4.483%. T-notes saw weakness as the 10-year inflation expectations rate rose +1.8 bp to 2.323%, despite the drop in oil prices. The T-note market remains worried about inflation pressures, which are likely to remain sticky even after the Strait of Hormuz reopens. The T-note market had some carry-over weakness from Thursday, when demand was lackluster for the Treasury’s 30-year bond auction.
European government bond yields traded lower. The 10-year German bund yield fell -3.6 bp to 2.995%. The 10-year UK gilt yield fell -6.9 bp to 4.836%.
On Thursday, the ECB, as expected, raised the deposit facility rate by +25 bp to 2.25% from 2.00% and said, "The outlook remains uncertain, with upside risks for inflation and downside risks for economic growth." Swaps are discounting a 37% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on July 23.
US Stock Movers
Space Exploration Technologies Corp (SPCX), doing business as SpaceX, started trading Friday morning and closed the day at $161 per share, up +19% from Thursday’s IPO of $135. The IPO was more than four times oversubscribed, indicating strong demand for the stock. SpaceX's favorable showing on Friday was positive for investor sentiment and could help the upcoming IPOs of AI companies Anthropic and OpenAI.
Space-linked stocks traded lower despite the favorable SpaceX debut, with EchoStar (SATS) and Rocket Lab (RKLB) both closing down about -10%.
Chip stocks recovered from early losses and closed mostly higher. The iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) rose +1.59% on Friday, adding to Thursday’s sharp rally of +8.39%. The chip rally was sparked by signs that AI spending is continuing after Oracle on Thursday reported quarterly capital expenditures that were higher than expected, driven by increased data center spending. Chip leaders on Friday included a rally of +6.51% in Intel (INTC) and +5.55% in KLA-Tencor Corp (KLAC). AMD (AMD)and Qualcomm (QCOM) both closed up more than +4%.
Adobe (ADBE) fell more than -6% after CFO Dan Durn said he would leave the company on June 15, following news earlier this year that Adobe’s CEO would resign. The Adobe news put continued downward pressure on software stocks, which were undercut on Thursday by negative earnings news from Oracle (ORCL). Autodesk (ADSK) fell more than -3%, and Palantir Technologies (PLTR) fell more than -2%.
Airline stocks saw continued support after oil prices on Friday extended Thursday’s losses. Southwest Airlines (LUV), United Airlines (UAL), and American Airlines (AAL) all rallied by more than +2%.
Astera Labs (ALAB), CoreWeave (CRWV), Nebius Group (NBIS), Rocket Lab (RKLB), and Teradyn (TER) saw support on Friday after Nasdaq announced on Thursday that those stocks will join the Nasdaq 100 Index, effective at the market open on June 22. Stocks leaving the Nasdaq 100 include Charter Communications (CHTR), Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTSH), Insmed (INSM), Verisk Analytics (VRSK), and Zscaler (ZS).
Travelers (TRV) rose +0.18% despite news that Barclays cut its rating on the stock to underweight from equal-weight, citing a downbeat outlook for profits in the property and casualty sector.

Stocks raced to their highs Thursday afternoon when President Trump said he canceled planned military strikes against Iran, citing "discussions" with Iranian leadership. He added that a "time and place of the signing" of a negotiated end to the war would "be announced shortly," and the US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz "will remain in full force and effect until this transaction is finalized."
Stocks were initially weighed down on Thursday amid concerns about the escalation of Middle East hostilities after President Trump said the US will be hitting Iran very hard tonight and will "at some point" take control of Kharg Island, Iran's key export hub, thus taking control of Iran's oil and gas markets.
Stocks were also pressured by Thursday’s US economic reports, which showed that weekly US jobless claims unexpectedly rose to a 4-month high and that May producer prices were mixed.
Late Wednesday, President Trump said the US will continue bombing Iran if it refuses to agree to an interim peace deal. Mr. Trump ordered multiple strikes on Iranian targets on Wednesday, and Iran retaliated by firing on US bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan. The increase in tensions risks derailing peace talks between Iran and the US, thus keeping the Strait of Hormuz closed, and further tightening global energy supplies.
US weekly initial unemployment claims unexpectedly rose +4,000 to a 4-month high of 229,000, showing a weaker labor market than expectations of a decline to 220,000.
US May PPI final demand rose +1.1% m/m and +6.5% y/y, stronger than expectations of +0.7% m/m and +6.4% y/y, with the +6.5% y/y gain being the largest year-on-year increase in 3.5 years. However, May PI ex food and energy rose +0.4% m/m and +4.9% y/y, weaker than expectations of +0.5% m/m and +5.4% y/y.
WTI crude oil prices (CLN26) are extremely volatile, whipsawing higher and lower several times on Thursday. Crude prices today initially gave up an overnight advance of more than +2% and fell more than -2% after President Trump said he canceled planned strikes on Iran and that a peace deal to end the war was imminent. Crude prices initially rallied more than +2% on Thursday when President Trump said the US would keep attacking Iran and threatened to seize the Kharg Island oil terminal, Iran’s main crude exporting hub.
The markets are discounting a 0% chance of a +25 bp rate hike at the next FOMC meeting on June 16-17.
Overseas stock markets settled mixed on Thursday. The Euro Stoxx 50 closed up +0.78%. China's Shanghai Composite closed down -0.16%. Japan's Nikkei Stock Average recovered from a 2.5-week low and closed up +0.06%.
Interest Rates
September 10-year T-notes (ZNU6) on Thursday closed up +17 ticks, and the 10-year T-note yield fell -9.3 bp to 4.459%. T-notes rallied on Thursday after US weekly jobless claims unexpectedly rose to a 4-month high and May producer prices ex-food and energy rose less than expected, dovish factors for Fed policy. T-notes also garnered support on Thursday from the -2% fall in WTI crude oil prices, which lowered inflation expectations. The 10-year breakeven inflation rate fell to a 2.5-month low of 2.303% on Thursday.
Gains in T-notes were limited after stocks rallied sharply, which curbed safe-haven demand for government debt securities. Also, slack demand for the Treasury’s $22 billion auction of 30-year T-bonds was negative for T-notes, as the auction had a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.33, below the 10-auction average of 2.39.
European government bond yields moved lower on Thursday. The 10-year German Bund yield fell from a 2.5-week high of 3.091% and finished down -4.5 bp to 3.032%. The 10-year UK gilt yield fell -2.6 bp to 4.905%.
The ECB, as expected, raised the deposit facility rate by +25 bp to 2.25% from 2.00% and said, "The outlook remains uncertain, with upside risks for inflation and downside risks for economic growth."
The ECB cut its 2026 Eurozone GDP estimate to +0.8% from a previous estimate of +0.9% and raised its 2026 Eurozone inflation ex-food and energy forecast to +2.5% from a previous forecast of +2.3%.
Swaps are discounting a 62% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on July 23.
US Stock Movers
Chipmakers and AI-infrastructure stocks rallied sharply on Thursday amid signs that AI spending is continuing after Oracle reported quarterly capital expenditures that were higher than expected, driven by increased data center spending. Sandisk (SNDK) closed up more than +14% to lead gainers in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100, and KLA Corp (KLAC) closed up more than +13%. Also, Lam Research (LRCX) closed up more than +12%, and Applied Materials (AMAT), ARM Holdings Plc (ARM), Marvell Technology (MRVL), and Micron Technology (MU) closed up more than +11%. In addition, Intel (INTC) and ASML Holding NV (ASML) closed up more than +9%, and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Western Digital (WDC) closed up more than +7%. Finally, Seagate Technology Holdings Plc (STX), NXP Semiconductors NV (NXPI), and Qualcomm (QCOM) closed up more than +6%, and Microchip Technology (MCHP) and Texas Instruments (TXN) closed up more than +5%.

Also, Carnival (CCL) closed up more than +8%, and Southwest Airlines (LUV) and Royal Caribbean Cruises (RCL) closed up more than +7%. In addition, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) and Delta Air Lines (DAL) closed up more than +6%.
Cryptocurrency-exposed stocks moved higher on Thursday as Bitcoin (^BTCUSD) rose more than +3%. Galaxy Digital Holdings (GLXY) closed up more than +10%, and Riot Platforms (RIOT) closed up more than +8%. Also, MARA Holdings (MARA) closed up more than +7%, Coinbase Global (COIN) closed up more than +4%, and Strategy (MSTR) closed up more than +3%.
Software stocks are under pressure today, limiting gains in the overall market, with Oracle (ORCL) down more than -8% to lead losers in the S&P 500 after forecasting full-year capital spending of $70 billion, $20-25 billion higher than expected due to prepayment for some components. Also, Autodesk (ADSK) closed down more than -7% to lead losers in the Nasdaq 100, and Adobe Systems (ADBE) closed down more than -6%. In addition, Workday (WDAY) closed down more than -5%, and Salesforce (CRM) closed down more than -2% to lead losers in the Dow Jones Industrials. Finally, ServiceNow (NOW), Atlassian Corp (TEAM), and Intuit (INTU) closed down more than -2%, and Microsoft (MSFT) closed down more than -1%.

Eaton Corp Plc (ETN) closed up more than +5% after agreeing to merge its mobility business with Dana Inc in a deal valuing the combined company at roughly $10 billion, including debt.
Allegion Plc (ALLE) closed up more than +3% after Longbow Research upgraded the stock to buy from neutral with a price target of $165.

The PHLX Semiconductor Sector index shed more than 10% of its value in a single session, driven by a stronger-than-expected jobs report that has led to an increase in the odds of the Federal Reserve raising interest rates this year.
Not surprisingly, major semiconductor names took a big beating. Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) was down by more than 6%, while foundry giant Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (NYSE: TSM) slipped nearly 7%. Even Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO), which released a strong set of results on June 3, wasn't immune from the sell-off, falling nearly 8% on Friday.

It won't be surprising to see semiconductor stocks recovering from this pullback. The sector has played a key role in driving the stock market rally in recent weeks, and investors may have decided to book profits after pricing in the potential impact of a strong jobs report on the Fed's policy. However, investors will do well to note that the semiconductor sector's rally has been powered by strong revenue and earnings growth, driven primarily by artificial intelligence (AI)-fueled demand.
So, if you have $1,500 in investible cash right now (after paying your bills, clearing any high-interest loans, and saving for tough times), it may be a good idea to capitalize on the semiconductor sector's recent pullback by putting that money into the names discussed in this article, either individually or combined.
Let's take a closer look at some of the top chip stocks you can consider buying right away.
Nvidia and Broadcom are no-brainer buys given their terrific potential
Nvidia and Broadcom dominate the AI chip market in their respective niches. Nvidia sells graphics processing unit (GPU)-based chip systems, and Broadcom designs custom AI processors and networking components. Both kinds of chips are in solid demand due to their distinct advantages. While GPU-based systems are considered ideal for AI training, Broadcom's custom processors are being used for inference-focused tasks in AI data centers.
Not surprisingly, both companies have been benefiting big time from the massive investments in AI data centers. Nvidia's revenue growth in Q1 of fiscal 2027 (for the three months ended April 26) accelerated to 85% year over year from 69% in the same quarter last year. Its top line landed at $81.6 billion last quarter, and the $91 billion estimate for the current quarter points toward a 95% year-over-year increase.
Nvidia's expansion beyond GPUs into the server processor market and its focus on emerging niches, such as physical AI and robotaxis, explain why the company's growth trajectory is improving despite the rising competition in AI chips. As a result, analysts have become bullish about Nvidia's earnings growth prospects.
The stock trades at just 31 times earnings, even though it is estimated to clock earnings growth of 88% this fiscal year. If Nvidia were to trade in line with the tech-focused Nasdaq Composite index's earnings multiple of 40 by the end of fiscal 2027 (which ends in January 2027), its stock could reach $358 (based on the fiscal 2027 earnings per share estimate of $8.96), a potential upside of 72%.
Similarly, Broadcom's growth rate is also picking up. The company is benefiting from lucrative contracts it has signed with multiple hyperscalers and AI companies. This explains why Broadcom's revenue in the second quarter of fiscal 2026 (which ended on May 3) increased by 48% year over year to $22.2 billion, better than the 20% growth it reported in the same period last year.
Broadcom's AI revenue rose by 143% year over year to $10.8 billion. What's more, it expects AI revenue to jump by more than 200% to $16 billion in the current quarter. Importantly, the company's AI revenue growth will continue to improve as it starts ramping up the sales of its AI chips to customers like Anthropic, Meta Platforms, OpenAI, and Google.
As a result, Broadcom sees its AI revenue landing at more than $100 billion in fiscal 2027, which would be a significant improvement over what it has been clocking so far this year. Analysts anticipate a 70% increase in Broadcom's earnings this year, followed by a 66% spike in fiscal 2027 to $19.32 per share. This makes Broadcom a solid buy at 34 times forward earnings.
Assuming its earnings per share indeed reach $19.32 in fiscal 2027, and it trades at 40 times earnings (in line with the Nasdaq Composite), the stock could jump to $772. That's nearly double where Broadcom stock is right now.
This AI kingpin can deliver outstanding gains
TSMC is the world's largest semiconductor foundry. It manufactures chips designed by fabless chipmakers, such as Nvidia, Broadcom, AMD, Qualcomm, and others. What's worth noting is that TSMC's share of the global foundry market increased by five percentage points year over year in Q1 2026, rising to 73%, according to Counterpoint Research.
There's a massive gap between TSMC and second-placed Samsung in the foundry market, with Samsung holding just 7% share. As TSMC makes AI chips for multiple chip designers serving different industries, including smartphones, personal computers (PCs), and data centers, it is easy to see why it has been clocking impressive growth since the beginning of 2024.
The company's earnings per share stood at $10.65 in 2025. The following chart suggests that TSMC's earnings growth will remain robust over the next three years, with its bottom line poised to more than double during this period (from 2025 levels).
TSMC stock trades at 27 times forward earnings. This sets it up for solid upside over the next three years, as it has the potential to more than double if its earnings multiple aligns with the Nasdaq Composite by the end of 2028. So, this is another top AI stock you can consider buying after its recent slip, since it could go on a bull run given its bright prospects.

Why does Jensen Huang like Qualcomm?
Huang notes that Nvidia's bread and butter is in accelerated computing for data centers, robotics, and AI infrastructure. What is Qualcomm's role in the AI chip stack?
While Nvidia's GPUs dominate data centers, these chip clusters typically handle the heavy training required to build AI models at scale. By contrast, Qualcomm's Snapdragon chip platform is marketed toward on-device processing across smartphones, laptops, automotive systems, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. These solutions prioritize low latency and energy efficiency -- enabling AI to run locally rather than constantly relying on remote cloud environments.
Qualcomm has also aggressively expanded into AI inference for data centers with its AI200 and AI250 accelerators, optimized for lower power consumption and memory management. This architecture directly targets workloads where Nvidia's ecosystem may be too costly.
Is Qualcomm stock a buy?
Per the company's second-quarter earnings, Qualcomm's automotive revenue accelerated 38% year over year, while the IoT segment posted high-single-digit growth. This traction is notable as Qualcomm works hard to diversify beyond a soft handset device market.
As investment in AI infrastructure continues compounding, the company's new initiatives across inference and memory deployments could prove promising as enterprises seek efficient alternatives for edge-to-cloud workloads.

Jensen Huang Just Told Investors to Buy This Under-the-Radar Artificial Intelligence (AI) Chip Stock (Hint: It's Not Marvell)

As global mobile data consumption continues to rise and 5G networks expand into underserved regions, operators are increasingly seeking wireless backhaul solutions that are easier to deploy, lower in cost and more autonomously managed. Legacy approaches often rely on manual provisioning and limited visibility, resulting in slower rollouts and higher costs. Against this backdrop, MaxLinear MXL recently introduced the Trinity platform, a carrier-grade solution offering bidirectional wireless backhaul speeds of up to 10Gbps.
Trinity is based on the company’s URX processor family. It pairs the URX850 SoC with a purpose-built cloud-native API framework that integrates with MaxLinear’s millimeter and microwave modems. The platform enables cloud-managed, AI-optimized backhaul infrastructure, which means that operators can expand 5G coverage while simultaneously lowering deployment and operational costs through automation and real-time network intelligence.
The launch also positions MaxLinear to capitalize on the growing millimeter wave technology opportunity. For the company’s Original Equipment Manufacturercustomers, Trinity represents a major advancement as it now handles functions that previously required multiple components, including switching and quality-of-service (QoS) functionality, aggregation of multiple wireless links, high-speed data encryption and precise timing for carrier-grade networks.
At present, the Trinity platform is available with URX850, and the associated backhaul software kit is available now. OEM products based on Trinity are expected to launch in the first half of 2027.

MaxLinear's Trinity Platform Boosts Its Wireless Backhaul Capabilities

The S&P 500 Index ($SPX) (SPY) on Wednesday closed down -1.62%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($DOWI) (DIA) closed down -1.87%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index ($IUXX) (QQQ) closed down -1.98%. June E-mini S&P futures (ESM26) fell -1.62%, and June E-mini Nasdaq futures (NQM26) fell -2.07%.
Stock indexes sold off sharply on Wednesday, with the Dow Jones Industrials falling to a 2.5-week low. Rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East lifted crude oil prices by more than +2% on Wednesday, sparking losses in stocks and bonds. Chipmakers, AI-infrastructure stocks, and the Magnificent Seven technology stocks all retreated on Wednesday, pressuring the overall market. Also, rising crude oil prices weighed on airline stocks, and trucking companies fell after Amazon expanded its LTL freight offering to all destinations in the US, including third-party warehouses, distribution centers, and retail partners.

Stocks extended losses and crude oil prices added to gains on Wednesday when President Trump pledged to strike Iran again after accusing the country of delaying talks on an interim peace deal. Mr. Trump declined to say what targets US forces would hit but said: "We hit them hard yesterday, and we're going to hit them hard again today."
Stocks found some support on Wednesday after US May consumer prices came in as expected, easing inflation concerns. Also, sharp gains in crude oil prices on Wednesday lifted energy producers.
US May CPI rose +4.2% y/y, right on expectations and the fastest pace of increase in 3 years. May core CPI rose +2.9% y/y, right on expectations, and the fastest pace of increase in 7 months.
US MBA mortgage applications rose +10.8% in the week ended June 5, with the purchase mortgage sub-index up +7.3% and the refinancing mortgage sub-index up +15.3%. The average 30-year fixed rate mortgage rose +3 bp to 6.60% from 6.57% in the prior week.
WTI crude oil prices (CLN26) soared more than +2% on Wednesday after the US and Iran exchanged strikes overnight. The US said it had completed an operation that saw fighter jets strike Iranian air defenses, ground control stations, and radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for Iran shooting down a US Apache helicopter. In response, Iran launched missiles at four US military targets and fired drones at the main US naval base in the Middle East, located in Bahrain, and struck Ali Al Salem air base in Kuwait. The increase in tensions risks derailing peace talks between Iran and the US, keeping the Strait of Hormuz closed, and further tightening global energy supplies.
The markets are discounting a 3% chance of a +25 bp rate hike at the next FOMC meeting on June 16-17.
Overseas stock markets settled lower on Wednesday. The Euro Stoxx 50 fell to a 2.5-week low and closed down -0.66%. China's Shanghai Composite closed down -0.42%. Japan's Nikkei Stock Average closed down -1.89%.
Interest Rates
September 10-year T-notes (ZNU6) on Wednesday closed down -2.5 ticks, and the 10-year T-note yield rose +2.3 bp to 4.540%. T-notes were under pressure on Wednesday after WTI crude oil prices surged more than +2%, which raised inflation expectations. Losses in T-notes were limited after the US May CPI report rose as expected, easing inflation concerns. Also, strong demand for the Treasury’s $39 billion auction of 10-year T-notes was positive for T-notes, as the auction had a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.57, well above the 10-auction average of 2.47.
European government bond yields moved higher on Wednesday. The 10-year German Bund yield climbed to a 2.5-week high of 3.088% and finished up +3.4 bp to 3.076%. The 10-year UK gilt yield rose +2.8 bp to 4.931%.
Swaps are discounting a 99% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on Thursday.
US Stock Movers
Chipmakers and AI-infrastructure stocks moved lower on Wednesday and led the broader market lower. ON Semiconductor (ON) and Qualcomm (QCOM) closed down more than -6%, and Marvell Technology (MRVL), ARM Holdings Plc (ARM), and Western Digital (WDC) closed down more than -5%. Also, Broadcom (AVGO), Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and Micron Technology (MU) closed down more than -4%, and NXP Semiconductors NV (NXPI), Microchip Technology (MCHP), and Seagate Technology Holdings Plc (STX) closed down more than -3%.
Most of the Magnificent Seven technology stocks settled lower on Wednesday, weighing on the overall market. Nvidia (NVDA) and Tesla (TSLA) closed down more than -3%, and Alphabet (GOOGL), Amazon.com (AMZN), and Meta Platforms (META) closed down more than -2%. Also, Microsoft (MSFT) closed down more than -1%. However, Apple (AAPL) bucked the trend, closing up 0.35%.
Airline stocks and cruise line operators sold off on Wednesday as WTI crude oil rose more than 2%, boosting fuel costs and dampening the companies’ profitability prospects. Alaska Air Group (ALK) closed down more than -7%, and United Airlines Holdings (UAL), Carnival (CCL), and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) closed down more than -6%. Also, Delta Air Lines (DAL) and Royal Caribbean Cruises (RCL) closed down more than -5%, and American Airlines Group (AAL) and Southwest Airlines (LUV) closed down more than -4%.
Trucking companies were under pressure on Wednesday after Amazon expanded its LTL freight offering to all destinations in the US, including third-party warehouses, distribution centers, and retail partners. FedEx Freight Holding Co (FDXF) closed down more than -6%, and Old Dominion Freight Line (ODFL) and XPO Inc (XPO) closed down more than -5%. Also, ArcBest (ARCB) closed down more than -4%, and Saia Inc (SAIA) and CH Robinson Worldwide (CHRW) closed down more than -3%. In addition, JB Hunt Transport Services (JBHT) closed down more than -2%.
Energy producers and service providers moved higher on Wednesday as WTI crude oil rose more than +2%. Devon Energy (DVN) closed up more than +5%, and APA Corp (APA) closed up more than +3%. Also, ConocoPhillips (COP) closed up more than +2%, and Marathon Petroleum (MPC), Phillips 66 (PSX), Chevron (CVX), Diamondback Energy (FANG), Exxon Mobil (XOM), and Valero Energy (VLO) closed up more than +1%.
Super Micro Computer (SMCI) closed down more than -27% to lead losers in the S&P 500 after saying it plans $7 billion in equity and equity-linked financing transactions to fund component purchases.
Dianthus Therapeutics (DNTH) closed down more than -9% after peer developer Sanofi halted a late-stage trial of an experimental therapy for a rare autoimmune disorder, citing efficacy concerns.
Summit Therapeutics (SMMT) closed down more than -8% after announcing it had commenced an underwritten public offering of $500 million of shares of its common stock.
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store (CBRL) closed up more than +22% after raising its full-year revenue forecast to $3.27 billion to $3.30 billion from a previous estimate of $3.24 billion to $3.27 billion, stronger than the consensus of $3.25 billion.
Casey’s General Stores (CASY) closed up more than +20% to lead gainers in the S&P 500 after reporting Q4 revenue of $4.57 billion, above the consensus of $4.32 billion.
Live Nation Entertainment (LYV) rose more than +2% after Morgan Stanley raised its price target on the stock to $200 from $185, saying concerns around the impact of regulation on resale ticket pricing are overstated.
Illumina (ILMN) closed up more than +1% after JPMorgan Chase upgraded the stock to overweight from neutral with a price target of $185.

Stocks Settle Sharply Lower on Escalating Middle East Tensions

In the latest close session, Qualcomm (QCOM) was down 6.96% at $191.12. The stock's change was less than the S&P 500's daily loss of 1.62%. Elsewhere, the Dow lost 1.87%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq lost 1.98%.
Coming into today, shares of the chipmaker had lost 2.33% in the past month. In that same time, the Computer and Technology sector lost 0.74%, while the S&P 500 lost 0.03%.

Qualcomm (QCOM) Suffers a Larger Drop Than the General Market: Key Insights

Stocks found some support today after US May consumer prices came in as expected, easing inflation concerns. Also, gains in crude oil prices today are lifting energy producers.
US May CPI rose +4.2% y/y, right on expectations and the fastest pace of increase in 3 years. May core CPI rose +2.9% y/y, right on expectations, and the fastest pace of increase in 7 months.
US MBA mortgage applications rose +10.8% in the week ended June 5, with the purchase mortgage sub-index up +7.3% and the refinancing mortgage sub-index up +15.3%. The average 30-year fixed rate mortgage rose +3 bp to 6.60% from 6.57% in the prior week.
WTI crude oil prices (CLN26) are up more than +1% today after the US and Iran exchanged strikes overnight. The US said it had completed an operation that saw fighter jets strike Iranian air defenses, ground control stations, and radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for Iran shooting down a US Apache helicopter. In response, Iran launched missiles at four US military targets and fired drones at the main US naval base in the Middle East, located in Bahrain, and struck Ali Al Salem air base in Kuwait. Gains in crude prices accelerated today when President Trump said that Iran has taken too long to make a deal and that they will now have to “pay the price,” fueling concerns that the US may escalate military attacks on Iran.
The markets are discounting a 0% chance of a +25 bp rate hike at the next FOMC meeting on June 16-17.
Overseas stock markets are mixed today. The Euro Stoxx 50 recovered from a 2.5-week low and is up +0.03%. China's Shanghai Composite closed down -0.42%. Japan's Nikkei Stock Average closed down -1.89%.
Interest Rates
September 10-year T-notes (ZNU6) today are down -1 tick, and the 10-year T-note yield is up +0.2 bp to 4.519%. T-notes are under slight pressure today after a +1% jump in WTI crude oil, which has raised inflation expectations. Supply pressures are also weighing on T-note prices as the Treasury will auction $39 billion of 10-year T-notes later today. T-notes recovered from their worst levels after the US May CPI report rose as expected, easing inflation concerns.
European government bond yields are moving higher today. The 10-year German Bund yield climbed to a 2.5-week high of 3.088% and is up +1.7 bp to 3.060%. The 10-year UK gilt yield is up +1.7 bp to 4.920%.
Swaps are discounting a 100% chance of a +25 bp ECB rate hike at its next policy meeting on Thursday.

Chipmakers and AI-infrastructure stocks are leading the broader market lower today. ON Semiconductor (ON) is down more than -5%, and Qualcomm (QCOM) is down more than -5% to lead losers in the Nasdaq 100. Also, Western Digital (WDC) and Broadcom (AVGO) are down more than -4%, andAdvanced Micro Devices (AMD), NXP Semiconductors NV (NXPI), ARM Holdings Plc (ARM), and Microchip Technology (MCHP) are down more than -3%. In addition, Nvidia (NVDA), Marvell Technology (MRVL), and Micron Technology (MU) are down more than -2%.

Super Micro Computer (SMCI) is down more than -17% to lead losers in the S&P 500 after saying it plans $7 billion in equity and equity-linked financing transactions to fund component purchases.
Dianthus Therapeutics (DNTH) is down more than -13% after peer developer Sanofi halted a late-stage trial of an experimental therapy for a rare autoimmune disorder, citing efficacy concerns.
Summit Therapeutics (SMMT) is down more than -7% after announcing it had commenced an underwritten public offering of $500 million of shares of its common stock.
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store (CBRL) is up more than +27% after raising its full-year revenue forecast to $3.27 billion to $3.30 billion from a previous estimate of $3.24 billion to $3.27 billion, stronger than the consensus of $3.25 billion.
